Yusuf coming back to GTAO reminded me of my fanon version of him and I realized I haven't drawn that in forever.

Basically he appears along with Luis all the way back in After Hours along with Tony, working with him on both a Maisonette and a Hercules location in LS.

Luis and Yusuf were off doing their own thing, franchising and getting locations set up in many places. At the time After Hours begins it has been around 2 years since the three were last around each other in person, but they're now ready to stay put in LS.

Made a bunch of reference stuff for Yusuf and my slight redesign of Tony.

(They're both baaasically the same height- I scaled the IV + EfLC models to a height chart in the past, Yusuf is literally like just an inch shorter than Tony. I forgot to write or type that someplace on the refs.)

I don't have Luis refs yet, I only needed these two ready for now.

Addendum: something I’ve noticed which I also adore (and which I plan to do a video on as soon as the movie hits digital) is the fight scenes, specifically the first and the way that it’s some of the MCU’s most character driven choreography and staging-

Carol, the body, the straightforward “punch first ask questions later” one, is reflected in the narrow, simple hallway of the Kree fortress. A flat stage with two ends is the best ground for Carol to fight if she’s not gonna able to rely as much on ranged attacks or flight. It’s remarkably similar to the hallway she fought in at the start of her first movie. It fits her to fight here

Monica, the brain, is reflected in the comparatively sterile environment of the circular SABER pod. This is a location where being clever and a bit Lee strategic is a big help, and it’s also where Fury is. Being the only really effective “assist character” in the sequence, Fury in this fight is symbolic of how Monica’s “world” is the one most equipped to actually help in the overall conflict. Carol works with SABER too, but she and Kamala are ultimately “freelancers” while Monica has roots in an organized helper force, and in being the one to end the fighting while Monica stands by to theorize, Fury also shows how Monica works best with a partner who can hold their own and give her time to think.

Apropos of nothing, part of what I love about this character dynamic is that even with the MCU being full of super geniuses, Monica’s intelligence and book smarts really stands out in this film because Carol and Kamala are both so far from that archetype. This isn’t like the Avengers or Guardians who always have at least two tech geniuses on the squad at a given time.

Then there’s the Khan household, which is to this fight what Kamala is to the whole movie.

It’s warm, it’s friendly, it’s the oddball element that throws a monkey wrench into the whole conflict just by being there, and it’s the “arena” which calls for the most creativity from its fighters, fitting Kamala as the most creative of the trio. It’s the heart of the fight, as Kamala’s the heart of the movie, since with Kamala’s family in danger this is where all of the real human stakes are.

The fight goes from “just another routine punch up for Captain Marvel” to a setpiece with genuine tension as soon as it invaded the house, and that tension peaks when Muneeba, Yusuf, and Amir are directly threatened.

Kamala’s home is actually where all three of the girls spend the majority of their screentime in this fight, IIRC, and I think that reflects Kamala as the glue holding the team together, and also reflects how in the end the other two obviously share Kamala’s desire to protect and prioritize innocent civilians; even if by accident they can’t help but spend the most time fighting to directly save people.

The Marvels’ action is absolutely top tier, but this scene in particular felt so motivated by the character dynamics which is why I think it really impresses the most.

Dulu, kalau aku ditanya,siapa pahlawan Islam yang terhebat, aku akan menjawab Mehmed II (Muhammad Al-Fatih). Namun, ketika aku membaca kisah Ertugrul Ghazi, Osman Ghazi yang meletakan pondasi kesultanan, perjuangan mereka memberikan banyak inspirasi.

Saat aku bermain Game Stronghold Crusader, ada karakter yang bersuara lembut dan tergolong kuat dalam militer. Dia adalah Saladin The Wise yang tak lain adalah Shalahuddin Al-Ayyubi.

Membaca kisahnya dari ekspedisi Mesir, menjadi Wazir Fathimiyah, menyatukan Syam, hingga menaklukan kembali Kota Al-Quds adalah kumpulan garis waktu yang menawan sekaligus pelajaran.

Shalahuddin adalah tokoh hebat yang disegani kawan maupun lawan.

Dari waktu ke waktu, aku banyak sekali menemukan Kisah Pahlawan hebat Islam yang terdengar asing seperti Musa bin Nushair, Yusuf bin Tasyfin, Muhammad bin Abi Amir Al-Mansur (Alamanzor), dan tokoh yang aku temukan saat membaca buku "The Land Of Stars" dari Gensa, Qutaibah bin Muslim.

Semakin aku membaca, semakin banyak aku menemukan kisah kepahlawanan yang hebat. Tentu, kisah penaklukan Samarkand oleh Qutaibah atas perintah Khalifah Umar bin Abdul Aziz yang paling mindblowing.

Maka di zaman yang penuh fitnah ini, mempelajari Kisah Pahlawan Islam adalah healing sekaligus penyulut semangat. Mereka adalah Pahlawan Seribu Zaman dan kita harus bangga akan itu.
