It should be illegal for an employer to force you to stand during your job. I'll just fucking say it. There should be NO allowances for "company policy" on this. If a worker can successfully do their job SITTING DOWN there is NO reason to force them to stand.

Today I finally got to do the thing at work that I am best at:
Unfuck records for objects in the collections management program.
It is essentially the same as faffing with wiki pages back in Elftown days. As satisfying too.

Bruh the "return-to-career-path-program" position I've been getting stringed along for like 2 months now through interviews and multi-week ghostings finally admitted that they can't find a good match for me in their program.
This is readily apparent to me by the second interview with the actual guy who would have been my boss when I asked him about what would happen if there hypothetically wouldn't be enough billable work and he did not have an answer for me.
And the recruiter lady had the gall to lie and say the interview I had went "very well" and that the guy I was talking to "very much enjoyed meeting me"
lol. lmao even.
Yeah, never applying for consulting jobs again.

The US says, "We don't have a healthcare crisis, the pandemic is over and everything is fine again," and meanwhile I'm running a fever with a positive COVID test being asked if there's any way I could come in to work the COVID unit because there is literally no one else.

hyperfixations are weird as hell; every time I see a representation of a particular interest i get a surge of dopamine that makes me want to sprint a mile while writing an incomprehensible-yet-poignant essay about how much I like said interest. except I can do neither of those things because I have to leave for work in 20 minutes.

Lmao NewLady was mad at [relative coworker] (and probably me) bc last week I had told RC that there was a bunch of pallets in basics bc NewLady had said "I sure hope that new girl (who quit) comes in today bc im not doing those! I don't have time for that!"
Bc I thought it was both funny and stupid like you're full time im not so uh it IS your problem
And I guess RC had mentioned something to BratBoy ab it and NewLady got a talking to ab it
I guess she went up to RC today and said "I didn't say I wasn't going to do the basics section. I said I didn't have TIME to do the section THAT DAY" and RC just stood there like 😐 bc they honest to God didn't give a shit shdhdhdhdhdh
Anyway NewLady didn't say a WORD to me today so I think she thinks i snitched and it's like no I was annoyed with your attitude and mentioned something in passing. Not my fault you pissed off the wrong person by making RC do what is technically your job. And that she went to the manager ab it bc you have an awful habit of only working your section and taking pallets to the back instead of doing your job and wrapping them first/attempting to do basics yourself
She gets so peeved that SHE'S not allowed to only work her section but I am. Bitch that's bc no one else ever helps me do my section!
Anyway lmao

My hot take: business degrees should exclusively be masters degrees. Cause there are legitimate skills to running a successful business, which would apply even outside of capitalism. Things like managing people, complicated finances, tax implications (granted right now it's more how to exploit people, ensure maximum profit, and tax avoidance). People get promoted to management or executive positions and then have to learn all this on the spot.
Ideally, an engineering firm will be run by engineers who get a year off to get real training in the skills they'll need to be an executive. But going to school ONLY to do business as a generic concept? Yeah that should be completely abolished.

USA please listen to me: the price of “teaching them a lesson” is too high. take it from New Zealand, who voted our Labour government out in the last election because they weren’t doing exactly what we wanted and got facism instead.
Trans rights are being attacked, public transport has been defunded, tax cuts issued for the wealthy, they've mass-defunded public services, cut and attacked the disability funding model, cut benefits, diverted transport funding to roads, cut all recent public transport subsidies, cancelled massive important infrastructure projects like damns and ferries (we are three ISLANDS), fast tracked mining, oil, and other massive environmentally detrimental projects and gave the power the to approve these projects singularly to three ministers who have been wined and dined by lobbyists of the companies that have put the bids in to approve them while one of the main minister infers he will not prioritise the protection of endangered species like the archeys frog over mining projects that do massive environmental harm. They have attacked indigenous rights in an attempt to negate the Treaty of Waitangi by “redefining it”; as a backup, they are also trying to remove all mentions of the treaty from legislation starting with our Child Protection laws no longer requiring social workers to consider the importance of Maori children’s culture when placing those children; when the Waitangi Tribunal who oversees indigenous matters sought to enquire about this, the Minister for Children blocked their enquiry in a breach of comity that was condemned in a ruling — too late to do anything — by our Supreme Court. They have repealed labour protections around pay and 90 day trials, reversed our smoking ban, cancelled our EV subsidy, cancelled our water infrastructure scheme that would have given Maori iwi a say in water asset management, cancelled our biggest city’s fuel tax, made our treasury and inland revenue departments less accountable, dispensed of our Productivity Commission, begun work on charter schools and military boot camps in an obvious push towards privatisation, cancelled grants for first home buyers, reduced access to emergency housing, allowed no cause evictions, cancelled our Maori health system that would have given Maori control over their own public medical care and funding, cut funding of services like budgeting advice and food banks, cancelled the consumer advocacy council, cancelled our medicine regulations, repealed free prescriptions, deferred multiple hospital builds, failed to deliver on pre-election medical promises, reversed a gun ban created in response to the mosque shootings, brought back three strikes = life sentence policy, increased minimum wage by half the recommended amount, cancelled fair pay for disabled workers, reduced wheelchair services, reversed our oil and gas exploration ban, cancelled our climate emergency fund, cut science research funding including climate research, removed limits on killing sea lions, cut funding for the climate change commission, weakened our methane targets, cancelled Significant National Areas protections, have begun reversing our ban on live exports. Much of this was passed under urgency.
It’s been six months.

Parents: why doesn't my kid want to do anything???
Also Parents: Yep kid the world sucks ass and living in it means constantly being forced into relationships and communities that actively exhaust and poison you. Oh and your performance is being judged, and if you do poorly you'll be in trouble. No you don't get a choice, because I didn't.

A Tesla driver has brought his wife's Model 3 in for servicing because the power steering ceased operating after the car went over a normal speed bump. The service manager (note that Tesla, unlike other car manufacturers, owns and operates all of its dealerships, so the workers there are Tesla employees) identifies the culprit: A system component has become corroded—probably, he says, because the car went through a car wash. The repairs will cost $4,400. The driver observes, reasonably, that he has never heard of a car's wiring being damaged by simply taking it through a car wash.
Reuters did a huge receipts-padded article on the grifting operation that is Tesla, that they have been knowingly selling shoddy, defective, dangerous cars. Then, when those shitty cars break within the first few hundred miles, Tesla blames the owner for "abuse" and won't honor the warranty.
