something will happen that constitutes, his full on body laugh and when its an instinctual thing it’s so rare that bruce doesn’t have a failsafe for that reflex and the person they’re with just,, stops

because the laugh they’re so used to can’t be compared to this genuine deep, heavy with emotion and feeling laugh that fills his lungs and your soul- and they just wish he would do that all of the time instead of his wooden paparazzi simpering and its something so stark that it throws them for a loop

My Justice League headcanon is that they are just a giant polycule. Some relationships are romantic, some are platonic, and some are a little in-between. But no matter what, they’re all interconnected in this beautiful, chaotic, and supportive way. Here's how I see it breaking down:

It happened after his death, Bruce was ruthless, a man in a cage, it was the closest he ever got from insanity.

He almost killed a man, god he almost killed so many. Broken bones. Fresh blood in his hands. In the asphalt. People always feared him, but it was the first time he saw horror in their eyes.

It was when he almost knocked Hal Jordan off in a disagreement when Diana pulled him off by his arm, her grasp bruising. He couldn't get away even if he wanted.

He wasn't talking with Clark. He wasn't talking with Alfred. He wasn't talking to anybody.

Bruce wished he never had to speak again.

He couldn't even look anyone in their eyes. Unless it was a criminal. Unless it was filled with horror.

Diana didn't force him to do that.

Clark never stopped calling.

Dick did.

But Diana never said a word.

It was on that day, after she dragged him to the training mattress in the Watchtower, that she ever spoke to him in a tone that didn't have condolences.

"You're angry."

She said.

And for the first time in a while Bruce wanted to laugh. He's angry. That's an understandment.

"If you're trying to–"

Her fist moved in the direction of his face. It wasn't as fast as she could go. He knew it.

It didn't mean it didn't aggravated him as much.

He dodged. She punched again. He crouched down. She kicked this time. He grabbed her leg.

"What. Are. You. Doing?"

"You're angry."

She turned around and dropped another kick. This time it hit his face.

He fell flat on the impact. Cobber on his lips.

"You're being unreasonable."

Diana didn't scoffed, but the look she gave him made he wished she did.

"You're still angry."

He glared at her.

"Be angry." She stood on his feet, grabbed him by the collar. "You want to be angry? Be angry. But be with a purpose."

"Diana–"

"Stop trying to break things who can be damaged." She shook him. "Stop trying to break things that won't ever heal again."

His feet left the ground

"Stop trying to burn the bridges you used to walk on."

Bruce said nothing. It was the first time in months he looked at someone's eyes.

He couldn't make her expression, and it annoyed him when he realized that she wasn't making any on purpose.

"Are you suggesting me to try to "break" things who cannot be harmed?"

"I'm telling you to stop acting like a fool."

He narrowed his eyes.

She dropped him.

"You have the right to be angry."

She walked away from him. Her steps echoing in the room.

"I'm going to turn around and come at you until you're too exhausted to be angry."

"You're saying that as if I don't have a choice."

"You don't."

And she did.

Bruce mostly defended himself, but Diana didn't left space for him to dodge. Every punch, every kick, every movement more ruthless, closer, stronger, unstoppable.

It took ten minutes until he hit her with a blow on the face.

She was considerate enough to turn her cheek. If she wanted she could break his hand.

She looked at him again and went for a nother round.

When they finished, it was night. But it was always night there. Bruce could feel his hands aching. Everything bone and muscle in his body hurt.

And he was still angry.

I’m kind of confused why some people hate… In general. Like I absolutely love the BatCat, of course. The canon and most absolutely beautiful ship in the whole world, mostly because they are literally my parents, I was born from their love. And I also love the SuperBat cuz… Why not? Clark and Bruce relationship is just so fucking adorable but like, also hella funny and either as friends, best friends, work partners or boyfriends, I don’t give a fuck, I just love them. And then WonderBat, I also love it, I genuinely can’t stop reading fanfics about them because they are so cute, a gorgeous buff Amazon Goddess with a handsome buff emo billionaire? Bro, I don’t know if I want them as my parents or my partners. And all kind of other ships, not only of Batman but in general. And yeah, of course there are some that I don’t like, like BatJokes that I don’t get it and I wouldn’t ship it, I guess I like some of their fanarts or animations, but I only like them because of the art style most of the time, but I get why some people like them, just because I don’t doesn’t mean I have ANY right to tell other people what they have to like or hate. The Loves of Wonder Woman: Andros, Steve Trevor and Superman.

1)Andros. More of a flirtation. It hinted at romance. The first Andros was a spaceman who came from a planet of evolved beings ready to determine judgment on earth. A council of elders. Sounds Kryptonian. The second show had Andros return as a younger guy. You could see the obvious flirting. Notice it was a “spaceman” as in the comics she refers to Kal as “spaceman”.

2)Steve Trevor. A human love much like a Lois Lane. Lyle Waggoner nailed it in the series but they wound up being more platonic even if there were subtle hints in the dialogue and acting. In the time, it never went further than that. This love is also like the Wonderbat pairing. They both will live brief lives. And Bruce is the opposite of a woman who is a goddess of truth.

Hence we come to the third which is for a SuperWonder fan, the best.

True Love

3) Superman. They have history, chemistry, friendship and mutual feelings. Kingdom Come gave them a family and long life. ✌️

I like batcat, wonderbat, ghostbat and hellbat (solely because it's funny) and I looovve Bruce and Zatanna being teen sweethearts who have parted but are still very fond of eachother (does that count as a ship lmao). Batlantern is the only one that makes me craaaaazy though, who'd have guessed 😭

As for everyone else... I like timkon and I think that's about it? Weirdly not something I've given much thought for the others, I prefer their platonic dynamics I guess 🤔

Friends to Friends with benefits to Lovers- I love it when the characters complicate the friendship and angst over what they are now but then it all works out in the end lol

Hanahaki- It's angsty and gross and yet beautiful at the same time. It's romantic and heart wrenching at the same time and I love that for them. The only thing is sometimes I wish there were more bad endings? I want to see a character get the flowers (and their feelings) removed because they were so certain that their feelings could never be returned, only to get a confession like two weeks after they recover.

Love Triangle becomes Polyamory- I guess I'm a big fan of lots of angst and drama but with a happy ending. I want the jealousy and pining and "I was too late" of a love triangle but after all of that I want them all to realize they can be happy together.

No Powers/Modern/Fantasy/Royal AU- It's not that I hate them, they just don't interest me at all. Usually if I'm a fan of something, I'm a fan of the setting as well, and I'd rather stick in that world. But sometimes, if it's an author I like, I'll check it out.

Pregnancy/Babies- I just can't deal with anything related to pregnancy or babies or anything like that. No thank you.

BAMFxFan- I don't like it when the portrayal of a ship is one character is a beautiful flawless perfect badass and the other character only really exists to fawn over how amazing the other character is or, even worse, exists as some sort of reward.

I love when the characters just really believe in each other and support each other's passions. Also when it's clear they're each other's best friends and can laugh together.

4.

Hair touching, like the brushing of a loose strand away from the face. Hand holding, squeezing firmly, thumbs brushing over the knuckles. The gripping of a sleeve or a belt loop to stay connected.

5.

Multiship, definitely! I like seeing all the different scenarios and dynamics that come about. Also, if I really like a character, I ship them with basically anyone I can think of, I just really like thinking about them being so loved by everyone they cross paths with.

6.

Both, doesn't really matter to me. I tend to like the less appreciated characters, so sometimes I'm in rarepair hell by default lmao. But I can't deny how good it is when you like a mainstream ship and you never run out of content.

7.

Doesn't matter to me. I usually prefer polyamory as opposed to any sort of endgame conflict.

8.

Reversible. I don't really like the idea of set roles in a ship tbh, I like things a little more flexible.

Yes, I'm just a sucker for romance, I'm afraid. Even if I'm just casually enjoying a movie or something, I'm still like "oh, they're cute together" lol

Sex isn't important to me for a ship, I'm more interested in the longing and the pining, however that can be expressed.

Platonic ships are great! Tbh I'm aroace and any portrayal of an intense, strong bond that doesn't need romance to be validated is exciting to find. But sometimes, i feel like there are some people in fandom that will use the term "platonic ship" to hate on a ship in public without using hater language

OCs in general are super fun! So why not OC kids? Sometimes I'll make OC kids for a ship I like (I still ignore the pregnancy/baby phase lmaoooo). They're usually girls.

One thing though about OC kids is I don't really like how many get named after a dead loved one? It's just a personal preference tbh but names carry so much weight and expectations sometimes and I don' believe in saddling a child with anything like that, and what if the kid wants to change the name in the future? I think I'm thinking about it too hard...

Of course not! I don’t ship for the “sexual scenes”; I SHIP FOR THEIR RELATIONSHIP! I don’t know about y’all but WonderBat... It’s a ship that is loved by some parts of the fandom. A ship that felt like it was meant to be, but official sources chose otherwise. A ship with a unique chemistry that I’ll always hold dear in my heart.

I think I may be one of the few individuals that like this ship only by the character’s dynamics and interaction. Sure, they do tease and sprinkle some flirtish acts but both stay loyal to their own desires. It feels like they want to treat them more than friends, but they digress that. Platonic ships really are something, yanno. I know that I’m rambling here but seriously, I’m trying to give it my best shot.

And, to see a ship like this makes me smile. I’m happy if they don’t get to be canon in the DC Universe, as long as the fandom grows strong xD. No ships ever need to be always forced to be like a “One true love” scenario. First that’s unrealistic, and second it’s so overrated. I prefer something that breaks my heart and cry, but can still make me smile at the same time. :,)

Summ: It’s totally platonic. They’re just friends. Good friends. Great friends, who may or may not have some less than platonic feelings simmering below the surface.

It’s totally platonic, Clark thinks, with an arm around Bruce’s shoulders. So what if he is touching Bruce, it’s not like it means anything. He’s a tactile guy, and Bruce trusts him enough to tolerate the contact. Bruce doesn’t shrug him off, doesn’t even shoot a masked glare in Clark’s direction, and Clark can’t help the pleased feeling that settles somewhere in his chest. There’s nothing more to it.

It’s totally platonic, the way he spars with Diana, a smirk stretch across his lips. The way his heart flutters when she pins him to the mat, it’s nothing to be concerned about. Probably just adrenaline racing through his veins. What else could it be? He definitely doesn't throw the next round to get Diana to pin him to the floor again.

It’s totally platonic, Diana thinks as she presses a kiss to Clark’s cheek in greeting. The rest of the League, including Bruce, watch on, but she doesn’t care. The kiss is of friendship, nothing else, and Clark doesn't seem to mind. The pink tinge to his cheeks must be from the attention, she thinks and plans to avoid any further attempts. Until the start of next week's meeting, where, far from embarrassed, he is the one to greet her with a kiss.

Clark comes and goes, though he’s hardly the best at sitting still and waiting. No one questions it, or her, not even Bruce when he awakes to find her still holding his hand. She’s from another place, another time, and they accept she might be a little different, care a little more openly. Bruce gives her hand a faint squeeze, a thank you, before dozing again with a soft smile on his lips. Diana thinks nothing of it and intertwines her fingers with Bruce's.

It’s totally platonic, Bruce thinks, catching sight of Diana as she waltzes into the ballroom, the split up the thigh of her dress showing a gorgeous stretch of golden skin. It’s strictly professional, an appraisal of her uniform, so to speak. Tonight he needs her to be inconspicuous, or at least as inconspicuous as a woman of her beauty can be. It's business, not pleasure, though Bruce can't deny the rush of emotion when Diana greets Bruce with a kiss. Or when one of Diana’s hands slips between his, the other settled over his chest, ready to dance. It’s platonic, despite what the other guests and paparazzi might think (or what Diana was more than willing to let them think, with her hand slipping lower and lower down Bruce’s back), simply platonic.

It’s platonic when he feels a warmth settling in his chest as he watches Clark scoop an eager Nightwing into his arms, a tight hug in greeting that never seems to lose its childlike joy, even all these years later. It’s nothing new, their antics or the feeling it leaves Bruce with, it’s common whenever he thinks about the family. His family. The boys, Cass, Alfred, even Stephanie, and Diana and Cla- Bruce shakes his head. When did he come to think of Diana and Clark as family? Maybe that knock to the head on patrol last night was harder than he thought? Whatever it is, it’s nothing. It’s totally platonic, he insists, they’re just friends.

And it's totally platonic when, exhausted after another gruelling League mission, the Trinity escape to a private room, just the three of them. The other members don’t question it, they know there are some things that can only be shared within the triumvirate of leaders.

In Bruce’s room, where they usually end up, the world doesn’t feel so heavy. For a moment, drawn out for as long as they can, they share the weight between their shoulders, three pillars holding up the world instead of one.

It’s the quiet that they first notice. Even Clark finds the world quieter in here, the constant call of duty and danger and fear muted enough that he can think in peace. Peace is Bruce and Diana and him together, an island of their own. Peace is the calmness they bring, a silent understanding. Peace is the feel of them in his arms, embracing and embraced.

Bruce peels back the cowl, his sweat-dampened hair falling across his face. Diana brushes the locks back, her fingertips trailing along his cheekbone, a soft pink glow in her wake.

Clark settles on the comforter, watching Bruce’s body shake beneath Diana’s touch. It’s been too long, and if he was anywhere other than here, in their sanctuary, he’d curse himself for not noticing sooner. “Come here,” Clark says, arms held out wide in a welcoming call. Come here, he says, but it sounds like come home. Maybe it is.

Silently, they join him on the bed, arms and legs and hearts and capes tangling together into one, a pile of heroes cuddling together atop the bed. There’s a sigh that escapes the three of them at once, contentment settling in their limbs. This is peace, if only for a moment, a comfort that only they can bring. Bruce nuzzles closer to Clark’s chest, his nose pressing firm against the S emblazoned there. Diana’s hand cups his jaw, her touch radiant and hopeful and warm, and Bruce melts against Clark’s chest a little more. Clark tightens his hold around his two teammates, companions, lov... Friends.

The bed is big enough for the three of them, Bruce had made sure of it. He always seems to know of these things, to make provisions for instances that haven’t yet occured. Diana thinks it’s his superpower. Clark knows that it is.

In each other’s arms, they are safe. What more can they ask for? A moment of safety, of comfort, if only just a moment, is more than any of them could ever hope for. They can’t spend long here, can’t hide from reality for more than a moment, but the moment spent together is more than enough.

No. It won’t ever be enough, but they won’t admit that. They’ll take all that they can, anything, because it’s more than they think they deserve.

It’s totally platonic, despite Hal’s jokes, despite what the rest of the League might think. It’s a reprieve, a way to ground them, tether themselves to one another so they don’t float away. It’s a victory in itself, defeating the battle of grief day after day, being here and being held and being loved.

Loved.

There’s no denying that. But it's totally platonic, it has to be, because if it's not…

If it's not, they're not sure what to do.
