Actually, today is the perfect day for snow. Its the first snow of the season here on the last day of the calendar year, just in time for bringing in all that is needed. ❄❄❄ In the traditional Cherokee way, the northern direction is associated with the Blue Man of the North. He is associated with winter, frost, cold and cold-blooded animals. ❄❄❄ The North is also associated with wisdom and will. As the lakes and waters freeze, they leave a frozen mirror with which we can see our potential. ❄❄❄ Winter can bring unwanted feelings of spiritual depression and defeat, unhappiness, failure and weakness. But if we focus on frozen mirror lake, we turn our focused energy on our potential and on what regeneration and rebirth comes after the ice melts. ❄❄❄ Take a minute to consider what needs to be frozen in your life and what warrants regeneration. What if space was not silent? What if sound travelled across the vacuum and we were able to hear the planets, moons and asteroids dancing their way across the universe? What if, when we floated in space, we could hear the moon orbiting around the earth? And the sounds of the boiling mass of the sun could be picked up across the galaxy? Each time it rose we would hear the roar of its arrival. It would be beyond deafening. It would be soul crushing. Thank goodness for space between us. The world has become so loud. Billions of multimedia channels all broadcast noise. Singing, shouting, lamenting, crying, laughing, praying, prying, educating, ranting, sharing, chanting, debating, discussing noise. What if the space race is not a hunger to explore new territories and new adventures? What if it is mankind’s collective desire for space? What if thoughts were not silent? And we were actually able to hear the millions of beliefs and fantastical concerns that go through everybody’s heads? It would be beyond deafening. It would be soul crushing. Thank goodness for space between us. Thoughts are not quiet. I often work in the dead of night when the darkness envelops the daily mind chatter in sleep. Space is not silent either. Electromagnetic waves have their own sounds creating their own eerie intergalactic symphony. Everything pulses with energy. Winter Solstice marks the time of year when darkness reaches its zenith of dominance. It rules the winter skies above us and the dark barren earth at our feet. Be still and listen. This is soooooo true for winter. Stay warm, hibernate (even though the calendar says to go-go-go), and allow the yin energies of the winter to restore the root of your being. I'm in the business of starting over. I am back in a place where the sky's the limit and I've got a wealth of passions and ideas that are rattling around in my brain, trying to get out. I need to make a change. In a good way. I need to organize my time in a way that allows me to express myself in all my creative ways. I've been making videos and I'm comfortable there. What I'm missing is writing. I don't write anymore. I used to write every single day in high school and then one day it just stopped. I found other interests. It's not that I ever lost interest, it's that once I fall in love with a passion, I obsess over it until my creative well is dry. Then I forget about it and tell myself I'll come back later. That doesn't work for me anymore. Once I start a project, I need to keep going with it. First, I'll be writing again. For real. Maybe I'll try a 21 day habit building program, I don't know. But at the end of my life, I don't want to look back at all the years I wasted.
