I’m a TA. Your TAs are students too. I get it. College is a Lot. Sometimes you can’t come to class. Sometimes you can’t finish your work by the deadline. It happens.
We’re willing to work with you if you tell us.
I have 50 students in my “Intro to World Archaeology” class. I prepare the discussion sections, I grade the essays and exams. I have plenty to do. I am not going to track you down and ask why you didn't come to class last week or if you need an extension on your work or if you would like me to email my comments on your draft to you if you didn’t pick it up on the day I handed it back. I cannot read your mind. I do not know your life. You have to approach me.
If you didn’t get your feedback, let me know! If you can’t come to class, let me know! If you need an extension on a project, let me know! You don’t need to give private personal details, but you need to at least tell me ahead of time that you can’t make it! If you never email me or approach me after class or come to my office hours, I can’t know what you need! Your TAs are tired grad students, they will sympathize with you, it is our job to work with you and help you, but you have to be the one to ask for what you need.
And seriously, if you have any questions, go to your professor’s or TA’s office hours. That’s what they’re there for!!

It’s crazy how much my school stumbles over itself to take the centrist position to everything but stays just clear of taking a side and making it clear they’re in support of their minority students 🙄🙄
#.txt#just got an email about ‘disagreeing better’ some stupid ‘political depolarization’ program#like shut the fuck up why are you going sooooo out of your way to make sure that your shitty conservative students don’t feel bad#oh no don’t be mad at people for holding shitty regressive beliefs that directly impact your life in a negative way if followed through :(((#that makes them feel bad :( and their feelings of security and validity are more important to use than the safety of the people they seek#to harass and target#pisses me off the school doesn’t hang any pride flags anywhere but makes everyone individually choose to#the implication of a ‘safe space’ is that not everywhere is safe#and it’s up to individual professors to choose whether or not they want to make their office a safe space#so you’ll make all of your profs read off a ‘land acknowledgment’ and put it in their syllabus#recognizing that the school is a colonist organization that was engaged in native boarding school efforts#but you won’t make the profs read out any kind of inclusivity statement?#your discrimination policy should be the absolute bare minimum not the only safeguard in place to keep students from being harassed#you can tell they just want to go full conservative but they’re obligated to be progressive because of the administration#there’s absolutely tension within the school about the direction we swag politically#and tbh i don’t know where it comes from but it manifests as this incredibly terse tone#where the school seems petrified to say anything even remotely partisan#they talk like a fucking senator and not a campus administration

He acts like he is RIGHT and so smart and he's not even a good writer. lol.

If things for non-verbal communication helps you I'd say go for it. Others saying you're not suffering enough to make things easier for you aren't living your life. Do what helps you.
even if I did, the world around me isn't very accommodating. I know all people in my life wouldn't be accepting of it. I don't go out much or have many friends. don't talk where I volunteer but I told them on the form I signed up on that I wouldn't talk and they're surprisingly accepting of it. don't talk at work, but work with my mom so she talks for me basically. the times I would need it would be very hard to use. not sure if I could do it with phone calls or video calls. am known to not call back for important things because dont answer my phone and will try to email them instead and no one wants to answer emails. will beg them not to call in message. they leave voice mail saying they got my message so call them back..... have video calls with my therapist and don't know how i'd use it for that. could help for in person doctor appointments but doctors are so impatient and want me in and out fast, don't know if it would improve much. I already never get to say all I need and non verbal communications is slow. don't know how twitch chat would react, so might be the only viable option...people that know me might be weirded out but whatever. new people might make fun of a robot voice but whatever x2 if I make it part of my "thing" they can deal with it especially if I cam finish making a vtuber and make that their "voice" maybe.... would be hard when playing games having to stop to type and won't say things enough so kinda same problem.....hmmm. could maybe at least work for art streams? 🤔
