Name: Jasmine Angelina Frost
Nickname(s): Jaz, Angel, Minnie
Main Ability: Freezing Kiss- The user's kiss can be used to freeze another being, creature, or possibly object via kiss. This kiss could cause them to freeze to death, be frozen solid, suffer frostbite or possibly turn to ice. This power is often deadly and is usually always active. (Source: Superpower wiki)
Personality: As mentioned in his bio, her favorite brother Jeremy may seem like the odd one out at times but Jasmine is the true black sheep of the Frost family. From a young age she found herself connecting to her parents' victims in a way that no one else in the family had. Their pleas for mercy and appeals to emotion with descriptions of their loved ones did not fall on deaf ears. It wasn't that she necessarily understood why what they were doing was wrong at that age but she knew what pain was and that nobody deserved to go through it. Hearing it and the way they would talk about these poor people while it was happening, before, after, it made her stomach hurt. She decided one day that she was never going to hurt a soul and has been an outcast every day since. This lifestyle choice was made around the same time that she was discovering her gender identity so for some time most of the animosity between her and her father wasn't focused on her lack of bloodthirst. It did come in to things, one of Jack's many weak coping theories was that she only "wanted to be a girl" to take the weight of the expectations the boys had off of her shoulders. Eventually, she was able to get him to understand things from her perspective. Which gifted her a new problem. Before her siblings would be dismissive of any small attempts to get them to see their wrongdoing now Jack does it too. Instead of lashing out at her judgment he condescendingly pretends to listen as he would with any of his daughters shallow sensitivities. Cooing and headpats have gotten very old. The softness between her and her father, especially during the time he was coming to understand her, has left a positive connection that she just can't shake even in the face of his coddling. This is not the same case with her mother. Suzy arguably cares less about her kids being killers than Jack but considering her agreement with everything he says combined with her lack of emotional warmth, to Jasmine, it seems the exact opposite. She enjoys her own company more than anyone else's but this isn't entirely the reason Jasmine chooses to do things like eat her dinner alone in her room. When her mother attempts to show affection by sending down an extra helping of meat Jasmine sees it as vindictive. As though Suzy is trying to rub salt in Jasmine's wounds, very aware of the fact she can never fully escape anthropophagy. Despite being one of the more moral members of the family Jasmine tends to see most things through a cynical and avoidant lens. In the current stage of her life she'd, understandably, rather talk than actively make an attempt to save any of these human lives. So she can come off as a bit of a bitch. To cope with her situation as a child Jasmine often found herself getting into places around the house that people often didn't go to, where she'd stumble upon her brother Jeremy who was usually doing the same thing. For many years she was like his little shadow, enjoying the company of the one person who wasn't indescribably evil in her eyes. Even when she got older and threw herself into her work he was always able to help her loosen up and have a little fun. She’s fascinated by the occult subjects that Jeremy introduced her to but not because of any promises of further power, instead because of the further depth it gives humans and the world around them. They look for meaning, they hope, they feel. Especially on the topic of herbology, they have intimate relationships with plants and see the personality in each of them, just like she does. She trusts that there's a world somewhere out there where everyone cares for each other, weaknesses are healed. Understood. A world she does make some attempt to create at home, using her plants to try and teach her younger siblings some compassion. More often than not though, this fails, convincing her further that she’s almost entirely alone. At least she’s got Jeremy, whenever she fails he's right there to comfort her. He doesn't exactly agree with her but she can’t be the only good thing to come out of this house.
Trivia
Whittles her coals by hand to shape her eyelashes.
Doesn't enjoy putting her hair up and only does it because her mother insists so she doesn't get it dirty. There are still often leaves in there.
She spends a lot of time with the younger kids to try and instill compassion in them but she doesn't actually enjoy interacting with kids. The non controlled mess stresses her out.
Despite her family's relationship with the hellish plane she's still somewhat what some may call spiritual.
She has a collection of crystals she finds helpful for different emotional ailments.
She also is Jeremy's partner when he does tarot readings. Jasmine is the more empathetic and understanding side to Jeremy's horrible "tough love" advice.

Could you maybe write a “73 questions with Sirius Black” Vogue one? Or something like that.
Yes! I had never seen these videos before and it was a fun challenge to write. Hope you enjoy! Sweater Weather credit goes to @lumosinlove!
The house is large, two stories tall and painted a soft gray with white trim around the windows. Holiday lights have yet to be taken down and shine in all colors of the rainbow from the eaves as the camera crew walks up the front steps. The curtains in the window tremble for a moment, then a dog pokes her head through—she is all-black and curious, and looks quite large.
Dorcas Meadowes knocks on the front door; a moment later, it swings open and reveals Sirius Black. “Hey, guys, come on in! You can leave your shoes by the door inside.”
“Thanks, Sirius.” Dorcas kicks off her flats and follows him inside as he sets a dish towel on the end table and leans against it. “How are you today?”
“I’m doing pretty well. Morning practice was productive and I’m feeling good about our upcoming game.”
“We’re here today to ask you 73 rapid-fire questions while you lead us around. Sound good?”
“Sounds good. You can all come inside instead of freezing on the porch,” he laughs, waving them closer. The door shuts with a gentle click.
“First question: on a scale of 1-10, how excited are you about life right now?”
“Hmmm. A solid seven.”
“Do you have any pets?”
“I do!” Sirius leads them into the other room, where the dog is curled up on the couch below the window; he picks her up and gives her a kiss on the head. “This is Hattie and I love her very much.”
“Cute! If you could do a dramatic love scene in a movie with anyone, who would it be?”
Sirius sets the dog down and thinks for a second. “Aside from my fiancé, I’m going to say James Potter. We would kill it and I don’t think it would be that awkward.”
“What’s the origin of your name?”
“Pretty much my whole family has star-themed names. Sirius is the dog star from Canis Major.”
“Brightest star in the sky, too. What’s one thing people don’t know about you?”
“I’m an introvert. Lots of people assume that I’m super social because of my job, but I’m very quiet in real life.” He walks back out to the entrance and takes the towel off the table, then moves into the kitchen. It’s well-lit and painted a deep, warm red. The countertop is scattered with knickknacks and picture frames—clearly, this is a place people spend a lot of time. Hattie, who followed them in, lays down by the oven with a heavy sigh.
“What’s your wakeup ritual?”
Sirius reaches up and pulls two mugs out of the cupboard. “I wake up around seven am and make coffee while Re is in the shower, then rinse off and get dressed while he makes breakfast. It’s a good system. Want some tea?”
“Sure. What’s your bedtime ritual?”
“I don’t think I have one,” he says as he puts the kettle on and ignites a burner on the stove. “Usually we read or watch a movie, then go up to bed and talk for a while. There’s not a big routine or anything.”
“Sounds nice. What’s your favorite time of day?” Dorcas sits on the other side of the kitchen island while he takes a box of peppermint tea down.
“That’s a tough one. I like the in-between spots, like just after sunrise or dusk. Three in the afternoon is usually pretty chill as well. Does anyone else want a cup?”
There are a few murmurs behind the camera and he takes two more down. “What is one thing no one knows about you?” Dorcas asks.
He raises an eyebrow. “If I told you, everyone would know, and it wouldn’t count.”
“Fair enough. Dream country to visit?”
“Anywhere. I think I want to go to Ireland first, though.” Small wisps of steam begin curling out of the kettle, but it doesn’t whistle.
“Do you ever feel pressure to post things on social media?”
Sirius makes a face. “I used to. Eventually I just got tired of it, you know? The whole point of social media is sharing bits of your life with people and it makes me happy to show off my dog, or Re, or my friends. I post things just for fun now.”
The kettle begins to hiss and he reaches back to turn it off. “Sneakers or skates?”
“Skates.”
“Vintage or new?
“Vintage, especially for t-shirts and sweaters.”
“Who is your biggest role model?”
“Pascal Dumais.” Sirius stops pouring for a moment to look up at the camera. “If you ever get a chance to meet him, listen to what he has to say. You’ll be better for it.”
“Wise words. How do you deal with negativity? Oh, thank you.” Dorcas wraps her hands around the mug and takes a small sip while Sirius passes the other ones to the crew.
“Honestly? I don’t give a shit. It used to really bother me, but I’m happy, I have a job I love, and my family cares about me. Why should I care what people I’ve never met think of me?” He sits on the counter and rests his elbows on his knees, blowing on the hot water.
“What are three things you can’t live without?”
“My dog, Remus, and my family.” There is no hesitation in his voice.
“Not hockey?”
“I’d be devastated if I couldn’t play, sure, but it’s not the central focus of my life anymore.”
“What’s one ingredient you put in everything?”
“Does salt count?” He winces as he takes a drink. “Ugh, burned my tongue. I put salt on a lot of things because I drink so much water that it throws my balance off.”
“What is something you’re completely bored of right now?”
Sirius rolls his eyes. “Gossip columns and tabloids in general.”
Dorcas hums in agreement. “What’s your biggest fear in life?”
“Losing my loved ones.”
“Window or aisle seat?”
“Window. Anyone walking by always steps on my foot or hits my elbow if I’m in the aisle. Plus, I get a good view and an easy nap spot.”
“What’s your current TV obsession?”
“Avatar: The Last Airbender, which I’m watching for the third time already.” He shakes his head. “It’s just so good.”
“Favorite app?”
He takes a second to think. “Spotify.”
“Secret talent?”
Sirius looks at her over the rim over his cup. “This is going to shock you. Ready?”
“Ready.”
“Hockey.”
“You’re the worst.” Despite her words, Dorcas smiles. “What the most adventurous thing you’ve done in your life?”
“Uh, probably going to Europe with some of the guys last year. We had a lot of fun, but it was crazy.”
“I can imagine it was. How would you define yourself in three words?”
“Tall, dark, and handsome.”
“And apparently not humble,” Dorcas teases. “Favorite piece of clothing?”
“Hoodies.”
“Clothing item everyone should have?”
“Hoodies.”
A door opens behind them and the camera turns; Remus walks out of the basement, covered in sweat as he wipes his forehead with the hem of his shirt and holds his skates in his other hand. “Baby, have you seen…” he trails off when he sees the group of people in the kitchen. Hattie’s tail thumps on the floor. “Um. Hello.”
“Hey, Remus, how are you doing?” Dorcas asks mildly.
The camera pans out to catch both Sirius, who is laughing quietly, and Remus, who flushes pink. “I’m good. I thought you were coming at ten?”
“It’s ten-thirty, sweetheart,” Sirius says, hiding his smile in his tea.
Remus glances at the clock before giving an awkward nod and walking toward the stairs. “I guess I’ll take a shower, then. Sorry about that. Uh, carry on.”
“What’s a superpower you would want?” Dorcas asks as soon as he disappears.
Sirius shakes his head with a grin. “Uh, teleportation. That would be really cool.”
“What’s inspiring you in life right now?”
“Ah, une grande question.” He thinks, then tilts his head toward the staircase. “Moments like that. And the Stanley Cup, of course.” He reaches back and knocks on the wooden cupboard.
“What cause is closest to your heart?”
“LGBT+ rights, especially trans rights. I’m privileged enough to have a platform and I intend to be loud as hell about that.”
“Good.” Dorcas sets her almost-empty mug on the table. “What’s one thing you’d say to your teenage self?”
Sirius lets out a long breath and drums his hands on the light blue ceramic of his cup. “I would say…it gets better. It really, really does. You’re going to feel super shitty for just a little bit longer, but then I promise you will be so incredibly happy that you wake up every morning and it hits you all over again.”
Dorcas nods, and the kitchen is quiet for a moment. “What’s a book that everyone should read?”
“The Hobbit, by J.R.R Tolkien.”
“What would you like to be remembered for?”
“This is going to sound so corny, but I want to be remembered for just being a good person.”
“That’s not corny. How do you define beauty?”
“Remus Lupin.”
“That’s corny,” she laughs, making him smile. “What do you love most about your body?”
“I’m a big guy, which can be a little bit intimidating, but it means I give really great hugs. I’m sure everyone saw the video that went around a while ago.”
“Cap Cuddles?”
He snorts. “Right. You’ve got Finn O’Hara to thank for that.”
“In your opinion, what’s the best way to take a rest or decompress?”
“Being alone,” Sirius says. “There is literally nothing better than getting home and sitting down with a book or something while I can hear Re doing his own thing and Hattie’s napping. It’s one of my favorite parts of the afternoon.”
“That’s the most introverted thing you’ve ever said.” Dorcas grins and finishes her tea just as a faint beeping noise begins in another room. “What’s your favorite way to experience art?”
“Through music, for sure.” He slides off the counter and walks down the hall, leading them toward the laundry room. He gives the camera crew a look as he pulls dry clothes out of the machine and heads back to the living room. “What? Did you think I didn’t do my own laundry?”
“You lost a sock,” Dorcas informs him, picking it off the ground and laying it on top of his head.
“Thanks, D.”
“What question do people ask that you wish they wouldn’t?”
“Lots of people have asked me when I decided to be gay, which is wrong on so many levels.”
“If you could master one instrument, what would it be?”
“Guitar or piano.” He dumps the load of laundry on the couch and opens the back door, holding it for the crew as they walk out into the sunshine. Hattie weaves through their legs and disappears into the bushes along the back.
“I might have to take your dog home with me. If you had a tattoo, where would it be?”
Sirius mock-glares at her. “Let me have my girl! Um, I would love to have a tattoo somewhere on my arm.”
“This might be a hard one. Dolphins or koalas?”
“Oh, that is hard. Probably dolphins. The ocean is terrifying but those little guys are just having a blast.”
“What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?” Dorcas asks as he picks up a tennis ball and throws it across the yard. Hattie emerges from the bushes and races after it in a blur of black fur.
“An engagement ring.”
“Yeah, it was.” Remus walks into the backyard and kisses Sirius’ cheek before bending down to catch Hattie in his arms. His hair is still damp from the shower. “Hello, sweet girl!”
“Who’s your favorite musician?”
“Queen.” Sirius laughs at her surprised look. “I’m gay, what did you expect?”
“True. What’s your favorite board game?”
“Monopoly.” Remus and Hattie disappear from the frame, but the bouncing sound of the tennis ball creates some background noise and Sirius watches them for a moment with pure affection.
“Favorite color?”
“Blue.”
“Least favorite color?”
“Orange.”
“Bowties or knot ties?”
He frowns. “Don’t they all have knots?”
“Smartass.”
“Yep! Uh, regular ties.”
“Bowties are superior!” Remus calls.
“Get your own questions!” Sirius laughs.
“Going off your music answers: records or CDs?”
“I don’t own a lot of records, so I’m going to have to go with CDs. I love the way vinyl sounds, though.” His eyes widen as he looks to the side. “Are you okay?”
“Fine,” Remus wheezes. “I didn’t need those ribs anyway.”
“For the viewers, the dog just football-tackled him into the grass,” Sirius says, and Dorcas snorts.
“Your hair is famously luscious. Blow-dry or air-dry?”
“Air dry.”
“Coffee or tea?”
“Coffee, but tea is nice in the evenings.”
“What’s the weirdest word in the English language?”
Sirius laughs. “There are so many. Uh, ‘jeez’ is the one that comes to mind first.”
“What about the French language?”
“Oiseaux,” he says in a crisp accent. “It means ‘birds’, and you pronounce about three of the actual letters.”
“Good to know. Do you prefer dark chocolate or milk chocolate?”
“Dark chocolate.”
“Stairs or elevators?”
“Elevators. I don’t want to walk up three floors after playing hockey for two and a half hours.”
“Summer or winter?”
Sirius bites his lip in thought as they walk around the yard, where small flowers line the fence in beds and colorful pots. “I love summer because I have actual free time to be with my friends, but winter is hockey season. I don’t know, next question.”
“What’s a dessert you don’t like?”
“I’m not a huge fan of caramel. It’s too sticky.”
“A skill you’re working on mastering?”
“Will you ban me from more interviews if I say hockey?”
“Yes.”
“In that case, I’m working on keeping plants alive, as you can probably see.” He taps the nearest flowerpot gently with his foot; it has ‘Harry’ painted across it in sloppy blue letters. “My godson made that for my birthday.”
“What’s the best thing to happen to you today?”
“This, for sure,” he says with a smile. “I haven’t seen you and Marley in ages.”
“We missed you, too. What’s the worst thing that happened to you today?”
He pouts slightly. “Burning my tongue on tea.”
“Hugs or kisses?”
“Hugs! Though I’ll accept kisses from a few very specific people.”
“Do you have a favorite smell?”
He pauses and cranes his neck to look behind the cameras. “Re?”
“Yeah?”
“What shampoo do you use?”
“Uhhh…” There’s a moment of quiet. “It’s something with lavender, I think.”
Sirius turns back to Dorcas. “Something with lavender.”
“How specific,” she laughs. “What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?”
He smiles to himself. “There was a young woman, maybe sixteen or seventeen, that came to one of the games earlier this season. I saw her standing with a puck and went over, and while I was signing it she looks at me and says, ‘you are exactly what I wish my older brother was like’. Turns out, she was bisexual and her brother wasn’t super accepting of her. That was…” He shakes his head. “That meant the world to me. I’ll never forget it.”
“You’ve definitely made a big impact on the community,” Dorcas agrees. “What’s the last piece of content you consumed that made you cry?”
“I watched ‘Soul’ the other night and almost had to pause it at one point to pull myself together.”
“Do you prefer animated movies or live-action?”
“Animated, mostly because I wasn’t allowed to watch Disney movies as a kid, so I’ve been catching up as an adult and they rock.”
“What’s your nerdiest quality?
“I love watching documentaries.”
“Sweet or savory?” The back door creaks a bit as they walk back inside and the camera catches a few frames of Hattie and Remus running around the yard together.
“Sweet.”
“In ten years, you have a daughter. What age do you let her date?”
Sirius gives Dorcas a look. “Whenever she wants to. I’m going to impose curfews and stuff, but I’m the last person on the planet to police her love life.”
“Good answer. What’s a song you can listen to on repeat?”
“Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen. Absolute banger.”
“If you could switch lives with someone for a day, who would it be?”
“Arthur Weasley,” he says after a moment. “I would love to know what it feels like to get up in the morning and know you’re about to spend another day wrangling our team. It’s a miracle he hasn’t killed us all with his clipboard.”
“How do you know you’re in love?”
“Oh.” Sirius blinks at her in surprise at the sudden topic change. “Well, for me, I think it’s just…being comfortable around someone. Being able to spend time with them without saying anything and knowing you’re safe, no matter what. It’s the best feeling in the world.”
“What are you most excited about at this time in your life?”
A slight smile crinkles his eyes. “Getting married. That’s going to be awesome.”
“Who is your go-to for having a good laugh?”
“James Potter. He’s the best, and I love him.”
“Last question,” Dorcas says, sliding her list into her pocket. “Many LGBT+ people, especially teenagers, have spoken about how you’re an inspiration. Any words for them?”
Sirius hums in thought. “First of all, thank you for being so open and welcoming. I would never have expected the sheer force of people’s love to come through like that when so many people were saying horrible things. Second, to any kids out there who need to hear it: I’m proud of you. It takes a lot to be true to yourself and even if you’re still in the closet, you’re just as valid as the rest of us. Stay proud.”
“That’s a wrap.” Dorcas gives him a quick hug that he happily returns. “Thanks for letting us crash your morning, Cap.”
“Any time. Thanks for tuning in to Lion Pride, everyone!”

Confessions | Bobby Drake x Male! Reader
A/N: Decided to write something cute and sweet since I felt like it's been a while since I've done that. Love Bobby Drake with all my heart. Hope you guys like it!
Tumblr media
"Okay, where are you taking me?" You laughed, as Bobby didn't respond, only took a hold of your hand, and dragged you outside and over to the large pond.
About 5 minutes ago, Bobby came into your room and asked you to follow him. You placed the book you were reading down on the bed side table as he grasped onto your hand, leading you all the way outside and towards the pond.
It was a beautiful night for sure.
The night sky was aglow with the bright lights that Charles made Logan install along with the stars shining bright like crystal clear diamonds.
You wondered why he brought you out here.
"Were going ice skating right now." Bobby announced, touching the water in the pond with his index finger and froze the entire pond, covering it in solid ice.
Now, you felt like an idiot for not seeing the ice skates in his left hand. You both put on the skates, as Bobby used his freezing powers to ice the bottom of his skates.
You loved when Bobby used his powers, and basically loved his powers in general, especially when he would ice your drinks that you wanted cold.
You looked up and smiled at him, receiving a smile back in return.
"Before we get on there," You stood up, as he did the same, "I'm not that good at ice skating." You told him, warning him ahead of time.
Bobby chuckled, "I'll be here to catch you if you fall, but it's quite easy to skate."
"Easy for you to say iceman," You teased, "You skate on ice all the time and that's your superpower, after all."
Bobby only smiled at you in return, taking a hold of your hand and walking onto the now frozen pond, "It's just like regular skating, except on ice. Just relax, it'll be fun."
Turns out that ice skating is actually pretty easy. It was exactly like Bobby said it was. Regular skating, but the only other thing was that ice was added.
You both skated around the pond with Bobby in front of you, and you behind him. When we passed the large fountain in the middle of the pond, he held out his hand to you, hoping that you would take it to which you did gracefully and skated around some more.
"Whoa! Slow down, Bobby."
Though, you were laughing along with Bobby, he was pulling you so fast that you thought you were going to fall flat on your ass.
He only laughed and pulled you harder and this time you almost lost your balance, "Oh my god, Bobby!"
Luckily, Bobby managed to catch you at the last second, both of his hands around your waist as you grabbed onto his shoulder to keep yourself from falling. You both let out a laugh and looked at each other in the eyes. E/C eyes met blue eyes with his hands still wrapped around your waist.
"You know," You started, "Stars often  symbolize heavenly bodies, purity and good luck. And they say that when a star shines bright like a diamond, it means that Heaven has gained another angel."
"I always wondered what stars represented," Bobby admitted, looking up at the stars before bringing his gaze over to you, "There is something I need to tell you, Y/N."
"What is it?" You asked, looking at him, "You know you can tell me anything."
Bobby took a deep breath in. He could do this. He could confess his feelings to you. He couldn't keep hiding how he really felt for you, also because Rogue and Kitty kept pestering for him to admit his feelings for you.
Honestly, he had no clue if you were into guys, but he had to take a chance, and hoped that you liked him back.
"Uh, Bobby?" You waved your hand in his face as he snapped out of his thoughts, "You alright there, man?"
"I'm fine," He lied, forcing a smile. He looked at you in the eyes before taking another deep breath in and out, "Well... what I wanted to tell you was that, um basically, I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU."
You choked on air. Literal air, "Oh, Bobby-"
"I know that you might not return my feelings because you're probably straight, but I needed to tell you and to see if I had a chance with you."
A breathlessly chuckle left your mouth, "You are really an idiot," You whispered softly, and he looked at you confused, "I'm in love with you too, idiot."
Bobby's eyes widened, "You are?" He asked quietly, astonishment in his voice.
"Bobby, have you seriously not noticed how much i flirted with you?" He shook his head and you mentally facepalmed, "I've been flirting with you ever since I came to this school. I also have been making excuses to spend more time with you like me needing you to help me clean my room, or staying longer during training, or wanting you to show me your powers more often, or getting jealous when you were dating Rogue."
Bobby now thought back to all the times you made excuses just to spend time with him and felt like such an idiot for not realizing you liked him back.
"I really am an idiot, aren't I."
"Pretty much," You replied, smiling at him, "But, you're my idiot."
You kissed him on the lips and Bobby kissed you back, melting into the kiss.
He was glad that he finally had gotten the chance to feel your lips on his. Unfortunately, the kiss was cut short.
"About time you idiots got together."
You both broke the kiss and turned to see Logan standing there, looking at you both with raised eyebrows.
"It took some time for someone," You pointed at Bobby, "To realize I had feelings for them, but were together now."
"I know, I know, I was an idiot, but that's only because I was too distracted by a cute water boy to see that he liked me back. You mean everything to me."
You both smiled at one another and Logan cleared his throat, bringing y'all attention back over to him.
"I'm happy for you, bub. But know this," He turned to face Bobby, "If you hurt him in any way, The Wolverine is on your ass, and you better treat him like a prince, understood?"
Bobby nodded, a little scared of Logan if he was being honest, "Understood."
"And don't ever stay the night in my room again, stay in Bobby's from now on. I'm sick of hearing you having wet dreams that you want Bobby to-"
"Logan!"

Actually since im not a big fan of ghost cores any more than im a fan of obsessions, im kind of curious what your thoughts are.
So, as far as I'm aware, the whole idea of ghost cores started with this one scene in Urban Jungle:
Tumblr media
"Your central core reading indicates extreme cold, as if your body is self generating it."
Now, from that little quote alone, I have no idea how it all snowballed into being this fantastic object that is the equivalent of a ghost's heart, brain, and soul, as well as the source of its powers and very existence, but it happened somehow.
Personally I don't think this means "your central (ghost) Core reading," I think it literally just means "core temperature," as in, the term used commonly in human medicine. Redundant, sure, but I think sometimes writers do that when making "smart fancy person explaining important science things."
I think the blue dot is meant as a visual representation of Danny's cold power built up inside of him, as Frostbite explains later in the episode:
"The cold is contained within you, and ever since you acquired your ghost abilities, you have only been letting it out in small amounts."
And honestly, I'm pretty convinced Danny's ice is a regular power, and not related to a whole element of his being, just based on another conversation between Danny and Frostbite, after he tells him about his core temperature readings:
D: "How is this possible?"
F: "You become invisible, pass through solid objects, and emit beams of energy from your hands, and you ask 'how is this possible?'"
D: "You mean, this is a new ghost power?"
F: "Precisely. Though new to you it may be, rest assured, it is an ability very familiar to my people. We are quite well trained in it's use."
Especially when he compares Danny's cold temperature to his other ghost powers? And then refers to it as an ability and goes on to demonstrate with snow and ice constructs. To me, it sounds like the whole of it, cold body temperature, ice generation, snow generation, and freeze ray are all thought of as a singular ability, rather than multiple abilities granted by a limited elemental core.
Now, to be fair, this is a kids superhero show, so of course it's gonna be "ghost powers" and a new superpower. Everybody can take creative liberty with this show, it's all fictional anyway, and would certainly look different through different mediums or genres.
Uh anyway, you can ignore this if you like cores, this is just my personal opinion.
A lot of Danny's ghost powers, to me, seem to be pretty cliche ghost things to me (aside from freaking lazer beams but you know, whatever. Comic book superhero here we go.)
Invisibility, intangibilty, and flight are obvious, but then you've also got telekinesis (ghosts make things float), electricity (electronics go haywire around ghosts), and ice powers. Cold spots, frosted windows, etc. I feel like ice powers are just the comic book superhero manifestation of that particular ghostly attribute, not one of the many pokemon elemental types that ghosts come with according to this headcannon?
It's hard for me to pinpoint exactly what rubs me the wrong way about core fannon, which is why im so late in answering this ask. Maybe it's just the way that it's become this big huge thing that's so widely accepted that it's taken as the ectobiology basics, just like compulsive obsessions (bleh).
One of my favorite themes in Danny Phantom is We're Not So Different. Not in the evil villain "come to the dark side we have cookies" sort of way, but in the "maybe our enemies are people too" sort of way.
Ghosts have morals. Ghosts have emotions. Ghosts are complex creatures just like the people that they used to be. Ghosts and humans can work together. Danny is literally a symbol of the unity and harmony that's possible between Ghosts and humans.
I guess I think of ghosts and humans as two sides of the same coin. Danny is a great example. His ghost colors are an inversion of his human ones. In "Livin Large" (I know, everyone's least favorite episode) it's revealed that the Ghost Zone is inherently tied to the human realm, and that destruction of one is destruction of the other. Ghosts and humans are perfect opposites and, like puzzle pieces, when put together make a complete whole.
I like thinking about it this way because it makes death less frightening. It's "the other side," not unrecognizable, evil aliens. It's people you can know and love who have crossed that barrier. Danny's perfectly straddling that fence!
What does this have to do with cores? Admittedly I went off on a tangent a little bit... but to me a core doesn't feel like the flipside of a person, it feels like a discount crystal gem bad attempt at alien biology.
You know, maybe I'm overthinking this. Maybe I'm just tired of Danny's downfall in so many fics being his own body mysteriously screwing him up because of the Mysterious Alien Ghost Organ that is Really Very Super Important To All Ghosts Everywhere except in cannon where it's literally not even a thing (also youd think such an important organ wouldnt be comoromised so easily. Thats just bad evolution). And it's such a popular piece of fannon that it's not even tagged or mentioned in the summary of most fics. Now I'm just complaining.........
I can't figure out exactly why I dislike ghost cores so much, anon. Maybe because there's nothing really ghostly about it? I just spent this whole post trying to figure it out and I still don't know. I've thought about it for days and every time I think I come up with a reason I realize that I like other headcannons with the same quality. As much word vomit as I've left here, there's just as much I've typed out that I've deleted. Why do I hate ghost cores? I don't know.
Tumblr media
Why do you hate ghost cores, anon? Maybe we can figure this out together.

Marty with superpowers headcannons?
(Again, I have no idea how the science behind any of this would work so just bear with me)
So the exposure to plutonium without cell rejuvenation gives him superpowers. Marty can briefly manipulate time by freezing and speeding up time around him, and he can manipulate space by phasing in and out through solid material
basically since his powers came from the DeLorean and interaction between radiation and the flux capacitor, Marty basically becomes a weak human flux capacitor and can manipulate space and time(sketchy science is sketchy)
He discovers them about a week after part three ends because his body finally transitions out of survival mode.
Through the trilogy, Marty is running on like 12 total hours of sleep, 1 meal, no water, 4 head injuries, 3 of which are traumatic brain injuries he doesn’t really accidentally draw on said powers. He’s weak, pretty injured, and exhausted, and his body’s probably focused on healing and staying upright, not manipulating space and time (also I always forget that by definition and time spend unconscious, Marty sustained three traumatic brain injuries in the span of 18 days? That’s gonna be fun for his family doctor to deal with at his next wellness checkup)
After he returns to lone pine 1885, Marty hasn’t really been sleeping bc he’s plagued by near constant nightmares and he’s been super on edge and anxious so he hasn’t really been eating and he’s overwhelmed and exhausted and just crashes in bed one day. And his body is like “oh we’re finally resting! we feel better! Let’s check out these new body functions!” (Again, This is not how bodies work but just humor me)
Then, the next morning, Marty wakes up under the bed? And Marty knows he’s a weird sleeper and he kinda just assumes he thrashed and moved around in his sleep and fell off of the bed, but that’s not possible bc he’s in the exact position he was on top of the bed. There’s also this heavy plastic keyboard case next to him, blocking the only side of the bed he could’ve rolled under from. Otherwise he would’ve had to roll over his guitar, fallen off of the bed, and rolled back under?
But Marty is 100% not in the mood to deal with any more strangeness and weird situations. He’s already overwhelmed and confused, he misses Doc so much it physically hurts, and he’s got real gigs lined up through the holidays and he really doesn’t have the mental energy for this so he just kinda ignores it and goes to school
But strange things keep happening? In math, when he knocks his calculator off of his desk during a test, panicking about how embarrassing it’s going to be when it hits the ground and makes and noise, making everyone turn around and look at him, the calculator just slows down, almost ceasing it’s free fall until Marty grabs it? And the few people who were turning around to look at Marty also have stopped, heads turned halfway to Marty before jerking back to their tests?
The worst one is when he’s on his way home, about to get on his skateboard. Instead for getting on, though, his foot goes through his skateboard. And just when Marty thinks that ordeal is over, his hand goes through the bumper of a car he tries to grab, sending Marty spiraling into the street. As cars zip past him and Marty’s in the middle of an intersection, thinking about how Doc was right and this little car surfing habit of his is gonna end him up in the hospital, the cars around him suddenly stop and seem to freeze then move in slow motion, just long enough for Marty to get to safety before continuing to speed down the streets as if nothing ever happened
Marty continues his commute home, feeling absolutely sick to his stomach, because there’s really one reason he could be passing through solid objects. He’s fading from existence. And that doesn’t explain the other weird stuff, but Marty’s way too worked up to consider the little details. The only thought running through is head is that there’s absolutely no way this can be happening again because this was supposed to be done it was all supposed to be better now
He goes home to get his truck, barely concealing his near-hyperventilating from Biff who always seems to be waxing one of their cars, and his dad who’s sitting on the porch, and drives to Doc’s. The lab is obviously empty, but being here makes him feel a little safer, and a little more clear headed.
He doesn’t eat or sleep that night and that puts his body back into survival mode, so his powers calm down again and Marty is beyond confused but just chalks all that up to exhaustion induced hallucinations? Which is a little scary because Marty is absolutely sure that all of that happen, and he’s really hoping he’s not going insane, but he’d rather be insane than fading from existence because option b means he messed up the time stream and that means that a bunch of other people potentially in danger and Marty’s already bucking under the guilt of 1985 A, he doesn’t need this too.
Obviously Marty has not been the same since time travel, but Jennifer notices he seems extra off as of late, so after school that day, she drags him to her house and asks her to tell her everything. And he knows he shouldn’t, but Doc’s not here and desperately needs to talk to someone and Jennifer is always so grounded and level headed and he needs that right now.
After 18 days of trauma chaos and Marty’s new affliction is described, Jennifer, who is a huge comic book and science fiction nerd, tells him in the most cheerful but matter of fact voice that he obviously has superpowers!
Marty just gives her his signature look of wide eyed, panicked confusion
Jennifer reassures him and tells him to leave a note for Doc where Doc left the DeLorean for him and ‘55 Doc. Marty likes that idea, but he’s still not entirely sure about the whole superpowers thing. So Jennifer tells him to attempt doing those things on purpose, and sure enough, all the things Jennifer makes fall off of her desk chair, including herself (which is the scariest trust fall of Marty’s life) slow just long enough for Marty to right them. Similarly his hands and legs pass through objects. Jennifer suggests he try to phase through the wall to see how strong his powers are, but Marty has a horrifying image of him stuck between Jennifer’s bedroom and closet wall forever, and he decides he’s not trying that own without Doc.
After a few trial runs, a very excited Jennifer’s going on about all the good things he could do the community with these powers and all the cool things he could do, but Marty’s anxious and overwhelmed and just wants to lay low. So he has powers, doesn’t mean he has to use them. Besides, Marty doesn’t know how to explain to Jennifer that after all the ‘good’ he did in 1985A and other timelines, the best way for Marty to serve the community is to probably stay far far far away from where he can mess anything up. Jennifer is, of course very understanding and she accompanies him to leave a letter for Doc
That night, Marty’s scared awake by a sudden rap on his window and wakes up to see Doc? And after Marty’s fight of flight response calms and his heartbeats slows enough for him to function, he just kind of sits there, convinced this is a dream and any second now, Doc will open up his lab coat, revealing bullet wounds and collapse and Marty will have to watch again. But then Doc calls his name and tells him he got his letter. And Marty is overwhelmed with joy and after flinging open the window and tackling Doc with a hug and then giving Clara and the boys another one, they go to the lab and figure everything out
Marty does, indeed, have superpowers. He’s basically a mini flux capacitor and Doc is over the moon thrilled, then panics and checks Marty over to make sure he’s still fine and healthy and that there are no negative side effects, then goes back to being thrilled
Idk what direction I wanna take this in? Whether Marty is just a normal person doing normal person things who just happens to have superpowers or if he and Doc get another crazy adventure, this time, involving superpowers, but yeah. If anyone wants to add on and take this in a direction, pls do bc I have no idea what comes next, lol.

BnHA Crossover Class 1-A
Tumblr media
I saw a post this morning about the Teen Titans in UA, and it got me thinking about the quirks that would be found with other characters, so I cobbled together a class of 20 students from popular media, and tried to either turn their existing powers into quirks, or gave them quirks. It was a lot of fun, and I’m thinking of doing a class 1-B as well.
Tumblr media
Name: Dick Grayson Hero Alias: Robin Quirk: Deductive Reasoning When Dick touches things, he can deduce their origins. He can tell the sort of gun that made bullet holes, whether something was written with the right or left hand, the way a knife was held while attacking a victim, or the height and weight of a culprit by finding their footprint. This makes Dick an expert in criminal profiling.
Tumblr media
Name: Koriand’r (Corey Anders) Hero Alias: Starfire Quirk: Heartfelt Koriand’r’s quirk relies heavily on her emotions. She must be feeling a certain way to make use of her quirk, and cannot summon her powers unless she feels that way. To fly, she must think happy thoughts. For super strength, she needs boundless confidence. And for her starbolts, she must have a righteous fury.
Tumblr media
Name: Garfield Logan Hero Name: Beast Boy Quirk: Animal Kingdom Garfield can turn into any animal he has seen before, but he can only copy the features of the animal that he knows about. This can include extinct and fictitious animals, but in order to become those, he must understand their biology and genetic make-up. Creating wings is pointless if he doesn’t know how to make them aerodynamic. This also means he can’t produce a dragon’s fire breath unless he can figure out a biological process to achieve this. Due to a mutation quirk he inherited, Garfield and any animal he becomes are permanently green.
Tumblr media
Name: Rachel Roth Hero Alias: Raven Quirk: Psychic Soul Rachel’s soul is a semi-conscious entity within her. It is highly sensitive to the presence and emotions of others, and due to its link to Rachel, allows her to feel these sensations through her soul. This means she can tell how many people are in an area, and what they’re feeling. She can send pieces of her soul out into objects, allowing her to lift them with her mind, giving her telekinetic powers, or she can project the soul itself to create platforms, forcefields, or a bird-shaped battering ram. She can even use her telekinesis to lift herself, floating through the air, or envelop herself in her own soul and pass through solid objects. She requires daily meditation to focus and sharpen her mind, or risk letting her psychic powers become destructive and untamed.
Tumblr media
Name: Victor Stone Hero Alias: Cyborg Quirk: Mechanical Infusion Vic has the ability to fuse technology into his body, a quirk which saved his life after his sports team bus had an accident and he was almost a casualty. The hospital technology infused with his body, and kept him alive. Since then, he’s focused on upgrading and improving his cybernetic enhancements, with a wide variety of technological detachments and gadgets built into his body. But his pride and joy is the sonic cannon he designed himself. While he can infuse any machine into his body, he’d be a horrible mechanical blob if he didn’t know how to compartmentalize. He maintains his humanoid appearance by understanding how to fold and store things inside of himself to fit as much in without overstuffing himself.
Tumblr media
Name: Ruby Rose Hero Alias: Black Rose Quirk: Petal Storm Ruby’s quirk allows her to turn her body into a scattering of rose petals that move at a windswept speed. The petals can separate to move around objects, but must come back together for her to take human form again.
Tumblr media
Name: Weiss Schnee Hero Alias: Ice Queen Quirk: Fairydust Weiss’ body naturally produces Dust, primarily in the form of powder. She has outfitted her revolver rapier to turn this dust into a variety of magical attacks. With enough dust, she can even create glyphs, a stationary magical property whose effect varries by the kind of dust she uses.
Tumblr media
Blake Belladonna Hero Alias: Noir Quirk: Copycat Blake can leave a shadow duplicate of herself to take a hit for her. She can launch herself off the clones as well. However, the clones are not solid and cannot hit enemies for her. Instead they disappear after being hit by anything.
Tumblr media
Yang Xiao Long Hero Alias: Dragonfire Quirk: Burn When Yang takes damage, it builds up in her muscles, allowing her to retaliate with tremendous strength. Her quirk causes her body to produce flames when angry, and she can shoot these flames with her punches, but not her kicks.
Tumblr media
Name: Steven Universe Hero Alias: Pink Diamond Quirk: Gemstone Steven has a gemstone in his belly, which allows him to summon a shield made of hard light, and lets him give sentience to plants, as well as heal injuries and repair inorganic material. He can even merge himself with another person, creating a hybrid that shares a combination of their quirks.
Tumblr media
Name: Aang Hero Alias: Avatar Aang Quirk: Force of Nature Aang has the ability to manipulate air, water, fire, or rocks within his vascinity. He has the greatest control over Air, but can manipulate the others as well. When he bends all four at once, Aang becomes able to tap into the raw power of nature itself, and awakens his full power, but becomes destructive and uncontrollable when he does so.
Tumblr media
Name: Katara Hero Alias: Arctic Fox Quirk: Waterbending Katara can manipulate water, snow, and ice near her. Her body is highly acclimated to the cold, and with practice she can even create water by drawing moisture from the air and plants. She can even control the water inside of living things, but she doesn’t like using this unless she feels she has to.
Tumblr media
Name: Sokka Hero Alias: White Wolf Quirk: Pack Tactics Sokka’s natural senses are hightened to the skill of a wolf’s, especially his hearing and smelling. This natural mutation quirk he inherited from his father makes him a master tracker. Sokka’s physical abilities improve when he’s around other people. As such, Sokka tends to avoid one-on-one fights if he can help it.
Tumblr media
Name: Toph Beifong Hero Alias: Blind Bandit Quirk: Earthbending Toph can manipulate the earth underfoot, and bend it to her will. Her connection to Earth has become so finetuned that Toph can feel the vibrations of things in the ground and relay those signals to the entirety of her body. Because of this, she can see in 360 degrees, and detect small details others easily overlook.
Tumblr media
Name: Zuko Hero Alias: Blue Spirit Quirk: Firebending Zuko can produce flames from his body when he uses proper martial arts form. However, he is highly disciplined in combat that doesn’t use his quirk, being a master in stealth and infiltration tactics. He is trained in the use of twin dao swords. His family is a prominent superpowered mafia, with his father being a notorious crime lord kingpin. Zuko applied to UA in secret, and covers for his absence by claiming to be undercover.
Tumblr media
Name: Lance McClain Hero Name: Sharpshooter Quirk: Eagle Eye Lance’s quirk gives him extremely focused ocular perception, which makes his use of a stun gun highly effective. Lance’s gun has a built in freeze ray that turns his bullets into ice pellets. He has some skill with a sword and carries one in case he needs it, but due to his focus on ranged combat, he’s at a disadvantage once melee combatants get within close range of him.
Tumblr media
Name: Keith Kogane Hero Alias: Yurak Quirk: Galran Keith’s appearance becomes more animalistic as he becoems angry, turning purple and developing feline-like traits. This includes the growth of fangs, claws, and animalistic eyes. This form is faster and stronger than his base human form. Keith is also very adept with a sword, carrying one into battle.
Tumblr media
Name: Katie Holt Hero Alias: Pidge Quirk: Hacker Any technology Katie comes into contact with, she can rewire and reprogram. Because of this, Katie always has a stash of robotic drones to aid her in her field work. She had a promising future in the Support course, but she insisted on pursuing the hero course at UA.
Tumblr media
Name: Hunk Garrett Alias: Gourmand Quirk: Iron Stomach Hunk is a walking tank whose body can dampen the damage he takes. This natural defense is increased when he eats. Especially when he eats good food. Certain spices and flavors also give him other temporary bonus features, such as spicy food dampening heat and fire damage, or mixed drinks letting him breathe underwater for a short time. He can even store energy in his stomach and fire it like a projectile, but this tires him out and makes him hungry.
Tumblr media
Name: Allura Hero Name: Supernova Quirk: Alchemy Allura has a number of magical abilities she can perform, such as healing, creating blasts of magic, and other such magical things. Allura is skilled with a bo staff and primarily uses a segmented whip-sword. Her father was killed by a supervillain, and Allura swore she would become a hero in order to avenge his death.

Why RWBY Won
There have been some people questioning Team RWBY’s victory against the ACE-OPs, claiming that they aren’t skilled enough compared to the premier team of Atlas, which is both a misunderstanding of what determines the outcome of a fight and attempts to pin it on a sole factor (interestingly enough I’ve also seen people use the same flawed line of reasoning a year ago to say that Adam should have won because he’s “strong”)
The outcomes of fights are decided by a combination of skill, experience, strength, environment, intelligence, mental state, preexisting advantages/disadvantages or weaknesses and the exploitation of such, and in cases of multiple combatants on the same side, teamwork
With this in mind it certainly may seem like ACE-OPs is more skilled, experienced, and stronger given that they’re adult graduated Hunters, who are “the best in Atlas” (are the truly the best? Or are they just the best who would not question orders?), but other than that every indication is that they have had a run of the mill schooling and experiences as Hunters, yes RWBY is technically only second or third years, but that’s just what they would be in the academies relative to their ages, Team RWBY’s experiences have been anything but ordinary, that fact is the plot of the show, they have been fighting terrorists, esoteric legendary Grimm, and facing villains with far-scoping grand plans at a young age, Team RWBY is simply not comparable to other Hunters in their age range
With that in mind we should get to the main reason RWBY won: Teamwork
Throughout the fight RWBY was very clearly working with each other, they watched each other’s backs, and aided in defeating opponents, but for ACE-OPs, there’s almost no semblance of cooperation, Marrow was reluctant to fight, Harriet was violent and aggressive, and even Elm and Vine, the ones who worked together the most during the fight were divided in approach, Elm opting for more lethal force and Vine trying to restrain while fighting together meant they were as much against themselves as they were against Bumbleby, speaking of which, it was cooperation by Blake and Yang that beat Vine then Elm, and though Ruby and Weiss weren't directly aiding each other (the nature of their opponents mean they had to keep them isolated from the larger battle), they supported and helped where they could, Ruby defending Weiss, which also lead to further division in ACE-OPs as this drew Harriet back into the office, where she and Marrow got into a spat over methods and use of force, and later Weiss bring the fight with Harriet to an end with efficiency
Next we have weaknesses, advantages, and disadvantages: In this area Team RWBY very much played to their strengths with their opponents,
Ruby faced off against the speedster Harriet and thus keeping her from attacking WBY, and more importantly despite the similarities of their semblances, the functional difference of Ruby’s is that it allows her to go incorporeal and does not need solid footing on the ground to work, thus allowing Ruby to dodge and wriggle out of Harriet’s grasp, important as Harriet is a close range fighter with no discernible long-range weapon, furthermore, and this is something that I think gets missed but Ruby’s line to Harriet about how RWBY is now better is more than just a justified boast, its psychological tactics, Harriet is competitive, she needs to win, and Ruby played to that, by taunting Harriet, Ruby got into Harriet’s head, threw her off balance, Ruby distracted Harriet from the larger fight (which Harriet could have been a major influencing factor on the outcome if she just worked with her teammates), by goading her into a personal grudge, Ruby targeted Harriet’s focus and made her get caught up in something personal, oh the irony
Yang squaring up against the heavy-hitter Elm, as she is not only the toughest of RWBY and therefore can take more/harder hits, but she has semblance that specifically requires taking hits as a power up, that and Yang nullified the advantage of Elm’s semblance by exploiting its logical weakness of requiring solid ground
Blake took on Vine, and honestly, he was probably the most screwed over in his opponent, we still don’t know what Vine’s weapon (if he has one) is, and his semblance works by stretching out and grabbing things, which isn’t so useful against an opponent with a weapon and style that not only works at different ranges, but alternates and switches between them rapidly during combat, and Blake’s semblance is perfect for the fight, as in practice it works as short range teleportation whilst not immediately indicating where Blake has gone, and the semi-solid nature of Blake’s shadows makes for excellent distraction/bait against someone who’s fighting style is based on grasping/catching enemies
And finally we have Weiss and Marrow, like with Vine, the logical weakness of Marrow’s semblance was exploited, Weiss kept herself and her summon separate, depriving Marrow of his ability to end the fight quickly as he can only freeze those in his line of site (side note: good on Team RWBY for quickly getting away from Marrow and therefore keeping him from affecting the rest of the battle), any time Marrow froze one he was opened to attack from the other, eventually he was overwhelmed
And there’s one more reason why I’d like to add for why RWBY won: willingness to use violence
Now what I mean by this is that RWBY was on the same page on what they would do to win, they aimed to incapacitate, not hurt, half of ACE-OPs was committed and willing to use lethal force, 1/4 was trying not to hurt, but clearly wasn’t afraid to do so if it came to it, and only poor Marrow seemed to have any real opposition to lethal means,
What is it that makes this important?  Creativity and ingenuity
As I recall reading at some point, what makes superheroes who do not kill or are not willing to kill outside of extreme circumstances better fighters than heroes that are willing to kill/villains, is frankly that humans (and in this case Faunus since the anatomy is almost the same) are remarkably easy to kill, maim, and damge, heroes who do not kill have to be careful and creative to non-lethally incapacitate their opponents, particularly if the heroes have superpowers and they’re against normal humans, thus the need to be smart and efficient at problem-solving, as opposed to lethal force which is easy to implement and does not require much brainpower to use, therefore RWBY did more than physically beat ACE-OPs, they beat them in the mind as well

giving i-landers superpowers (top 9!)
K - Re-Equip Okay so, think Erza Scarlet from fairy tail, wherein K can store weapons and armors in a sort of pocket dimension and then summon them at will during battle. According to the armor + weapon combination summoned, K can also get advanced durability, strength, resistance or agility depending on whichever one is most helpful to the particular weapon and it’s accompanied fighting style. New weapons also offer new skills, for example if hr gains weapons that possess supernatural abilities like control of elements give him those abilities while they are in use.
Heeseung - Time Manipulation I had to make Heeseung OP so here Essentially Time Manipulation doesn’t necessarily mean that Heeseung can manipulate time itself, but he can manipulate his opponents perception of it. Essentially, this entails slowing down their perception of time so his own movements are faster and it’s easier to take them down, or stop his opponents perception of time all together for a while, or turn back time in the context of a specific person like to reverse the effects of an injury - the only condition is he has to have touched them first and he can’t reverse actual death.
Jay and Sunghoon - Fire/Ice Manipulation Okay so I’ve grouped them together because in this au specifically I’ve kind of paired them up in my head. The powers are pretty self explanatory, Jay can create and control fire while Sunghoon can create and control ice (yeah i gave sunghoon ice powers original i know). Beyond this they have complete durability against extreme heat and extreme cold respectively. Both of them can take their powers to limited extremes as well, like Jay can use pure heat and Sunghoon can use pure cold (air?? ig?? idk just the cold as a force or something) to turn water into steam or ice, similarly Jay can create just smoke and Sunghoon create just like cold winds, idk like this makes sense right? They essentially function as a duo in here, Sunghoon freezes half their opponents over and then Jay torches the rest. They’ve got a system. They’re not just fucking around I promise.
Jake - Permeation Jake has the ability become intangible, letting him pass through any phsyical matter; he can phase through walls, the ground, as  let enemy attacks pass through him harmlessly. This lets him phase through walls, enemies, and attacks (like weapons and bullets) at will. If he returns to his solid state while phasing through something, his body would be repelled outward projecting away from the object - he sometimes takes advantage of this during battles, launching himself at enemies to deliver a physical blow of some sort, aided by the added speed of the projection.
Sunoo - Light Manipulation He can create, shape and manipulate any light that is visible to the human eye. This entails everything from increasing its intensity to the point where it’s blinding, to manipulating light to show illusions. His attacks are based around light and heat, wherein he can throw blasts of sunlight energy or balls of solar heat as well as shape light into barriers and shields. He can also function, essentially, as a human torch when the situation needs it (say they’re stuck in a really dark place or something idk) however his powers are noticeably weakened the darker it gets.
Jungwon - Power Mimicry Pretty self explanatory, but essentially Jungwon can copy the abilities of basically everyone he fights. The power of the mimicry get increasingly smaller as the power levels being mimicked grow higher, however as his skills develop this gap will lessen. There is no limit to the abilities he can mimic, it can be something as basic as being able to do martial arts, to something like Heeseung’s time manipulation. The only drawback here is that he can only mimic one ability at a time, and given that he’s somehow isolated or deprive of his senses, the ability is essentially useless.
Ni-ki - Trajectory Manipulation Ni-ki has the ability to curve or stop the trajectory of anything he throws, think Diego from Umbrella academy. What this means is he can curve the pathway of anything to hit what he wants it to hit, or not hit what he wants it to not hit. So, if someone shoots a bullet at him he can stop that bullet in mid air or make it turn around and hit something ease, he can also curve the pathway of his own weapons to make sure he’s always on target, as well as avoid any attacks on him when they come in the form of a something being thrown at him (knives, bullets, grenades, etc.)
Daniel - Teleportation Daniel has the ability to teleport both short and long distances, which he uses frequently to evade his enemies and also angry hyungs (think Five, from the umbrella academy). In addition to this, Daniel can teleport multiple people along with him, however he still has his limitations here, he is also able to teleport objects and other people without physical contact, like say switch out an opponent’s weapon for a teddy bear or something. Eventually, he will be able to teleport through time as well, however he hasn’t really tried yet given how risky it is.

Captivating, pt. 2
I finally wrote the final part of this fic (part 1 here). Thanks to @ask-a-pale-experiment for reminding me to get this fic done!
-
Jack had somehow managed to drag himself to his feet and get through the following day while mostly not huddled in a little ball of misery.
Well, not significantly more than usual, at least.
It was only when he got home that evening when everything went wrong.
He'd just shut the door to his apartment behind him with a sigh when someone lunged out of the shadows to grab him and clamp a hand over his mouth.
His mind was racing, wondering how one of his enemies could have figured out his identity and where he lived, while his body was acting already, hands rising to touch his attacker and freeze the blood solid in their veins.
He paused centimeters away when the person spoke in a hissed whisper.
“Shh! It’s all right, I’m not here to hurt you.”
Piki. It was Piki. What the hell was Piki doing in Jack’s home? Had he finally figured it out?
"Don't worry, don't worry, it's just me. It's Piki," the man added, removing his hand from Jack's mouth and pulling off his domino mask, as if Jack somehow wouldn't be able to recognize him with it on. "Look, I'm really really sorry about this, but I promise that it's for your own good."
"Wh-what's-" Jack stammered.
"I promise I'll explain everything. But first…" The shadows rose up to swallow them both, and when light finally returned, Jack found himself in entirely different surroundings. It was a little room with a handful of furniture, two door, and no windows.
Piki let go of him, stepping back. "Sorry. Look, you're in danger-- Wait, no, not like that! I'm not going to hurt you. It's… It’s the Winter King. He’s a supervillain, you might know about him. He somehow figured out that I… ah, well, he threatened you. He’s dangerous, and I don’t know if he might decide to hurt you. So I need to keep you safe. Just for a little while! Once I figure out how to dispose of him, I’ll let you go.”
Jack just stared at him. This. This was the conclusion that Piki had come to. Jack wasn’t sure if he wanted to hug Piki or shake him for being a complete idiot, but he was leaning towards the latter.
Piki fidgeted, looking nervous. “I, er, I got you some books,” he added, gesturing to a stack of them on a bedside table. “Notebooks, too, in case you want to write. Let me know if there’s anything else that you might like, and I’ll see what I can do. With any luck, this should only take a few days. A week, tops.”
Jack doubted that very much.
“I… I’ll just let you get settled in. If you need anything, just knock on the door. The other one goes to a bathroom,” Piki explained, backing further away and slipping out the door, and closing it with a click of a lock.
Jack flopped back onto the bed with a groan. Well, this was a hell of a situation he was in. On the plus side, Piki hadn’t figured out about his secret identity. On the other hand, he intended to keep Jack captive until he murdered the Winter King, who also happened to be Jack. What the hell was Jack supposed to do about this?
He supposed he could always tell Piki about his secret identity. And in doing so, reveal his greatest secret to someone who hated his guts and would at the very least likely attempt to make good on his murder threat. Jack didn’t think it was likely he would be able to succeed, but if he didn’t kill Piki, and likely his brother, in turn, then Piki would likely reveal Jack’s secret identity to everyone he could out of spite. Jack’s life would be ruined. But he didn’t want to kill Piki.
He could wait until Piki and Pitch left to go hunt for the Winter King, and break out of the room. It wouldn’t be hard to make ice to pop the deadbolt out of place. But Piki would no doubt attribute his disappearance to the Winter King, and Jack would be back in the same position as before, unless he faked his own death and moved to a new town. An extremely less than ideal solution, especially as Piki would doubtless try to track the Winter King back down for revenge, if news of Jack’s activities made it past local headlines.
Or Jack could just… stay. Not exactly a sustainable solution, but maybe Piki would eventually get bored and let Jack go on his own. And besides, he was technically living with Piki right now. The current situation didn’t exactly match Jack’s prior romantic fantasies, admittedly, but this was a form of intimacy, wasn’t it? For a given definition of intimacy, at least?
Did Stockholm Syndrome work in reverse? Maybe Jack could talk Piki into having some movie nights together, while he was here. That would be nice.
Yes, this was a good plan. Jack could always think about longer-term solutions later. He was in no rush.
Jack went to go check the stack of books to see which ones Piki had picked out for him. He felt a rush of warmth when he saw that several of his favorite books were there, along with a smattering of works by some of his favored authors and a handful of books he’d had his eye on but never got around to reading. Piki had been paying attention to what Jack had been looking into at the bookstore, that was so sweet.
Jack picked up one of the new books, along with a blank notebook and a pen. He set the writing tools aside and settled back in the bed to start reading.
-
A careful knock on the door preceded Piki’s return a little over an hour later. He had changed into his street clothes and was holding a tray. “Jack? I brought you some food, if you’re hungry?”
Jack looked up from his book and smiled at Piki. He picked up the notebook and straightened up in bed, beckoning Piki over.
Piki seemed a bit surprised, but he set the tray down on the little table in the corner of the room and approached Jack. “What is it?”
Jack swung his legs over the edge of the bed and patted the spot next to him. Piki gingerly sat down beside him, and Jack opened the notebook so they could both see it.
Thank you for rescuing me, Jack wrote.
“What? I mean, you’re welcome, but to be honest, I didn’t expect you to see this that way,” Piki replied.
I know you wouldn’t have done this without good reason.
Piki looked surprised, and a bit skeptical. “That’s… very understanding of you. Thank you. Is, is there anything that you need? Anything that would make this situation any more pleasant?”
Would you stay with me for a while? I’m feeling a little lonely.
“Yes, of course, if that’s what you’d like.”
Can you tell me about your work? I’m sure that having superpowers and running around with heroes and villains must lend itself to some interesting stories.
“Oh, you have no idea…”
-
It had only taken a few days before Jack had managed to persuade Piki into a movie night. It had been easy enough to get him to stay; the simplest way to watch a film would be with a laptop, and Piki couldn’t very well leave a laptop connected to the internet alone with Jack, or Jack might use it to contact the heroes or someone else who would complicate the current hostage situation.
So now the two of them were half-reclined on Jack’s bed, propped up with pillows and watching the scene playing out on the laptop balanced on Piki’s thighs.
“Ugh, this is absolute garbage. This man clearly cannot act worth a damn, and don’t even get me started on the hack job of stage direction that the director is managing. Everyone involved in this production should have been fired,” Piki groused.
Jack smiled and shifted a little bit closer, enough that their sides were pressed against each other and Jack’s hand was half-overlapped on Piki’s. “H-hey, Piki,” Jack murmured.
“Hmn?” Piki made a questioning noise and turned his head to look at Jack. Jack took the opportunity to curl his hand around the side of Piki’s jaw and lean forwards, bringing their faces closer together.
Piki’s eyelids fluttered closed, but snapped back open before Jack could kiss him. Piki jerked backwards, breaking any contact between them.
"No! No, this is wrong. This, this is Stockholm Syndrome, or… or you're so afraid of me that you think that letting me take what I want means that I might not hurt you any further," Piki said, looking sickened. He scrambled to snap the laptop shut and lurched off of the bed, away from Jack.
Jack was left staring at him, stunned.
Piki drew in a shaky breath and stared off somewhere past Jack into space. "This is going to taint everything we ever might have had. I…" Piki shook his head, wrapping his free arm around himself. “I'm sorry, Jack. I… Pitch will take care of you from now on."
Before Jack could say anything, Piki fled the room and shut the door behind him.
-
True to his word, the next time the door to Jack’s room opened, it was Pitch carrying the tray of food. “Here you go,” he said, plunking it carelessly on the table.
“P-P-Pitch?”
Pitch rolled his eyes and sighed. “I’m not going to hurt you. You don’t need to shake in your boots.”
“I’m n-not scared. This i-is just the way I t-talk,” Jack stammered out, hating the way that his mouth stumbled over the few basic sentences.
“Ah. Well, nevermind then. What do you want?”
“P-Piki. He’s… L-Look, can I just write it d-down?” Jack asked.
“Fine,” Pitch sighed, walking over to Jack to read what he wrote down.
Piki’s sad, isn’t he?
“That’s a bit of an understatement. Moping and maudlin and distraught would be better words for it,” Pitch replied.
Would it be better if he was angry?
“I mean, he’d probably be marginally less insufferable then. Why?” Pitch asked.
Jack inhaled and braced for the loss of his career. Because I have something I probably ought to confess.
“What, do you have a boyfriend who’s a superhero or something?”
No. Jack wrote, then let the rime frost spiral down the length of his body, wrapping the identity of the Winter King around himself once more. Pitch gasped and stumbled backwards, breath misting in the air. By the time the transformation was complete, the shock had bled into anger.
“Oh, you absolute bastard,” Pitch snarled, before whirling around and flinging open the door. “Piki!”
“Pitch? What is it, is J-” Piki looked through the door and froze when he saw the Winter King. He broke out of it after a moment, stepping forward as shadows began to surge around his body. “What the hell did you do to Jack?!”
“He is Jack,” Pitch snapped.
“He- what? No, that’s not-”
“It is, Piki. It’s me. I’m sorry, I probably should have told you sooner,” Jack said.
Shock and hurt flashed over Piki’s face, before finally settling back on anger. “You… This has always just been some game to you, hasn’t it? Some hilarious joke, to toy with me? You must have been laughing so much at being able to trick me. Did you share the joke with your friends?” he spat.
“No. I really did, really do care about you. But I didn’t want you to see me as some helpless pathetic nobody. I wanted to impress you, and prove that I was actually worth something. But I didn’t go about it in the best way, I see that now. And maybe… maybe all you wanted was someone pathetic to look after. I don’t know. But that isn’t me,” Jack said, and sighed. “If you really want to fight, then I understand, but I don’t want to fight you, Piki.”
Piki growled, and seemed to struggle with himself. Pitch stepped up beside him, and Jack braced for an attack. Instead, Piki’s shoulders slumped and he stepped out of the doorway. “Just… go. I don’t want to have to look at you.”
Jack left.
-
When Jack got home, he set to packing up his things and preparing to move. It was only a matter of time before his identity hit the headlines, and then he would need to go somewhere else. Gotham was supposed to be nice this time of the year.
But it never came. No bounty hunters showed up at his apartment to try to collect, and nothing happened for days.
Finally, Jack received a note in his mailbox, one that had no stamp, though it did have a return address. It just said, We have a lot we need to talk about, I think.

CHARACTER CHEAT SHEET: PETER PARKER / SPIDER-MAN
Peter Parker’s abilities, traits, and history can be complicated, so I gathered up all I know from comics and all the website I’ve visited in my life, revisited them, and put them together. I hope that the Marvel fanfictions writers will find this useful, especially that more and more Spider-Man fanfics are written nowadays.
[fun fact about the hyphen between ‘Spider’ and ‘Man’ - the creators of the character used it to differ Spider-Man from Superman.]
Full name: Peter Benjamin Parker
Spider-Man aliases: Spidey, Webhead, Webs, Web-Slinger, Wallcrawler/ Wall-crawler
Date of birth: - comics: Peter is a Libra, making his birthday sometime between September 23rd and October 22nd. - MCU: August 10th, 2001
Characteristics: - gender: male - current height (age 28): 5' 10" / teenage years height: 5' 5" - current weight (age 28): 167 lbs (76 kg) / teenage years weight: 140 lbs (64 kg) - eyes: hazel - hair: brown
Family: - Richard Parker, Mary Parker (parents, killed in a plane crash, spies) - Benjamin Parker (uncle, killed by a thief) - May Parker (aunt); (- Teresa Parker (sister) ) (- William Fitzpatrick (maternal grandfather, killed) )
Address: - grew up on: 20 Ingram Street, Forest Hills, Queens - currently living in: Queens
Core personality traits: - loner - neurotic (anxiety, fear, jealously, loneliness, worry, envy, frustration) - funny and witty, yet respectful (uses humor as defense/coping mechanism and to distract an opponent) - strong willed, brave - nerdy/geeky - shy, socially awkward - caring, loyal, kind, trusting, considerate - always worried, cautious, hopeful
Intelligence: - he graduated Midtown high with the highest scholastic average in the school's history - Octavius stated that Peter's “smarter than all of them” - Peter’s more intelligent than anyone he knows and he doesn't understand why Peter doesn't use all of his intellect - Peter's IQ is 250, making his position in the Highest IQ Ranks of Marvel characters in the top 5 (it's a made up universe, ok)
Equipment:
Costume: - in the early days after the spider bite when peter was making money via wrestling, peter made a costume because a TV producer told him it would sell as an act along with the wrestling - he created a mask to avoid the embarrassment if he lost a match, later it served him to protect his identity and hide his fear during fights
Utility Belt: - a utility belt holding extra clips of webbing (later: Spider-Tracers, Spider-Signal), placed on his waist under the suit (- recently upgraded to hold cartridges of different types of webbing, freeze capsules, new Spider-Tracers as well as a newly upgraded Spider-Signal that has a UV light setting for forensic analysis.) (- in the MCU, the belt was changed into clips on the hip height of the suit)
Web-shooters: - he first created the web-shooters so they can give him the advantage over pro-wrestlers  - they're made of materials that don't trip metal detector alarms (the material changes as the comics go, it's plastic, carbon fiber, and so on) - they're pressure sensitive - work only when peter taps on them twice very quickly with his middle and ring finger. the pressure, though, is really big, given the super strength. in that way, the web-shooters don't go off in a fight or when he shakes someone's hand. it also means that an average human wouldn't be able to use them, given that they need a certain degree of pressure put on the trigger. - over the years Peter's learned to use the web-shooters in more ways than just shooting single strings - he can make a parachute, web up a cast for a broken arm, a shield, and more and more variations he needs at the moment - from marvel.com: “the webbing [is a shear-thinning liquid (virtually solid until a shearing force is applied to it, rendering it fluid) whose exact formula is as yet unknown, but is related to nylon. On contact with air, the long-chain polymer knits and forms an extremely tough, flexible fiber with extraordinary adhesive properties. The web fluid's adhesive quality diminishes rapidly with exposure to air. (Where it does not make contact with air, such as the attachment disk of the web-shooter, it remains very adhesive.) After about one to two hours, certain imbibed esters cause the solid form of the web fluid to dissolve into a powder. Because the fluid almost instantly sublimates from solid to liquid when under shear pressure, and is not adhesive in its anaerobic liquid/solid phase transition point, there is no clogging of the web-shooter's parts."
Tumblr media
Superpowers:
[fun fact no2: he's holding back in every fight and on daily basis - both in the intellect and physical departments.]
Mutations: - he's got harder bones and tougher skin, hard for a syringe to pin through - his organs' tissue is most probably stronger to not get squashed under the pressure of impact forces (such as g-forces while he's swinging)
Strength: - he can bench press up to 10 tons but it was stated that it’s the average strength he uses - he's holding back a lot (supporting the weight of the Daily Bugle building, landing a private jet with  a landing weight between 175,000-215,000 pounds, breaking through Iron Man's armor, even breaking through eight of Doctor Octopus' carbonadium tentacles, lifting a large pile of iron-debris equivalent to the weight of a locomotive approximately 130 tons) - he can jump to a height of several stories in a single bound - he’s strong enough to knock out people with normal durability with as little as a tap to the head - he can throw a human sized and weight object across, like, New York
Speed, agility, reflexes: - his perfect sense of balance is complemented by the generally elastic nature of his body - he can adjust his position by instinct, which enables him to balance himself on virtually any object - he can outrun moving cars - according to the comics, he can run 70-115mph - it was stated that he can go around 120 mph when swinging the fastest he can - he's agile and quick enough that in a combat fight the foe can only see a blur, dodging attacks and bullets the second they’re put in motion - according to the official bios, his heightened reflexes are about 40 times better than the ones of an average human  (with the help of spider-sense, he can dodge a bullet before it’s even shot)
Spider-sense: ( a form of unconscious precognition / extra-sensory perception tuned to danger or threats that might cause him physical or mental injury) - it can make Peter feel off when his loved ones are in danger - it can differ a loved one/a very close friend and a foe (best example: Aunt May once sneaked up on Spider-Man and smashed a vase on his head) - it can help Peter navigate in the dark - it’s a bit off and overwhelmed and Peter doesn’t react to it right when he’s very tired or distracted or when there's too much danger around (like in a big fights with many opponents and weapons) - when it goes off and “buzzes” without imminent and instant danger, Peter may think it’s just gone a bit bonkers, therefore he doesn’t react it much. - it helps with instinctive shooting webs at places that won’t crumble under Peter’s weight - it reduces stuff like the need to look sideways when crossing the street or the need to cover up 100% when Peter changes in an alleyway - Peter was banned from playing poker with F4 because the spider-sense helps him detect when someone is bluffing - sometimes it takes control over peter when there has to be less thinking and more reacting done in a fight - it can hurt peter when it's triggered hard enough
Healing factor: - he can heal from bullet wounds, concussions, broken or sprained bones, and third-degree burns in a matter of days - his body produces less fatigue toxins than ordinary humans which allows him to exert himself for days - he can go a couple of days with no sleep; - he's got a weirdly high tolerance to radiation - he can hold his breath for eight minutes or more
Metabolism: - he’s got a bottomless belly - high metabolism means he needs more food to function, but then again he can go without food because of the healing factor - he can even shrug off some toxins - the toxin resistance makes it harder for someone to knock him out with toxins (such as drugs, for example)
Enhanced senses: - he’s got enhanced sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste - they can be as much of help as of a nightmare. each of his senses was enhanced which means he can hear his neighbors as they roll over in their bed, but going to a concert isn't that fun
Wall-crawling: - according to Spider-Man Vol 1 #26 it’s a mutagenic, cerebellum-wide alteration of his engrams resulting in the ability to mentally control the flux of inter-atomic attraction (electrostatic force) between molecular boundary layers - which basically means electrostatic attraction between Peter’s skin and a solid surface - it’s mentally controlled
Quotes/mottos:
“That's not why you do it. You do it 'cause it's the right thing to do. [...] Now it's my turn. [...] I'm going to give it my all. [...] I'll never quit.”
“With great there must also come great responsibility.”
“Life sucks sometimes... but it's always worth living.“
“Everyone can be saved.”
Other:
- the Spider-Man mask supposedly muffles and changes Peter’s voice enough to be unrecognizable - Peter’s a NY Mets fan - Peter’s witty personality works on every hero’s nerve except for Deadpool (Wolverine one stated that being in company of one of these two is a nightmare, and being in company of both of them is one of the worst things he’s gone through) and Tony - the adhesive skin allows Peter’s mask to stick to his face in case someone tried to pull the mask off - he’s a skilled photographer.

Science of “The Seven”
I watched Amazon’s The Boys this week. So instead of the usual 60′s Marvel fare, here’s some tangential science relating to the superpowers featured in the show:
1. Homelander can’t see through zinc.
Tumblr media
This is obviously a play on Superman not being able to see through lead, but the switch brings up some problems with the physics involved. X-rays - light with wavelengths ranging between 0.01 and 10 nm* - can’t travel through a lump of lead because lead is super dense. It’s nearly the heaviest non-radioactive element, with (usually) 208 protons+neutrons and 82 electrons. And its atoms pack very closely together.**
Combining that density with the fact that lead atoms are also very good at attenuating x-ray light (meaning the amount of x-ray photons that can penetrate a certain thickness of lead drops exponentially as that thickness increases), it makes sense that Superman’s x-ray vision’s weakness is lead.
But zinc is a smaller atom (usually 64 protons+neutrons and 30 electrons) and its atoms don’t pack as tightly; it’s about 1.5 times less dense than lead. It’s X-ray attenuation is generally lower, but not too different, from lead (compare this graph vs this one). Together, this makes it easier for x-rays to penetrate zinc than lead.
So why can’t Homelander see through zinc, but (supposedly) see through lead? It could be that the x-rays he emits correspond to a wavelength that zinc absorbs more than lead does. Annoyingly, the absorption spectra I can find all seem to be dealing with zinc compounds (e.g. ZnO, ZnS) instead of pure zinc metal. So I can’t tell you exactly what wavelength that would need to be.
Sorry.***
2. The Deep has torso gills
Tumblr media
Fish are ectotherms, meaning their body temperature is regulated by their environment. Mammals - including cetaceans (i.e. whales, porpoises, and dolphins) - are endotherms. We generate our own body heat. Kevin presumably does, too.
This means that a man needs more oxygen than a man-sized fish does. About 15 times the oxygen, in fact. It’s the gills’ job to extract oxygen from water and pump it into the fish’s bloodstream; bigger fish have bigger gills, but a 75-kg man needs gills 15 times the size of a 75-kg fish’s. Not necessarily in length, but in collection area. And that’s assuming you’re not doing any physical activity that ups your oxygen requirements.
But on top of that, oxygen is far less abundant in water than it is in air - about 20 times less for the same volume. If an average human needs a quart**** of oxygen per minute, their gills would need to strain 51 gallons of water every minute to meet that requirement.
Combining these two factors, designer and material scientist-dabbler Jun Kamei is developing a set of artificial gills, and claims the final device will have a surface area of 32 square meters (344 square feet).
The human lung surface area is somewhere around 75 square meter range, so if you’ve got gills that can pack as efficiently as lungs do, you probably could fit them into your abdomen. Maybe not Chase Crawford’s abdomen, but a stockier human’s abdomen.
The real problem here is that Kevin’s doing himself no favors by covering the gills up while he’s underwater. Water rushing through the gills is the whole point, and you’ve just made it 1000% harder.
3. A-Train (and Popclaw) booms and bu(r)sts
Tumblr media
According to the race announcer that one episode, A-Train can reach speeds over 1000 miles per hour. Assuming that’s true and not a horrible exaggeration, as soon as he passes the speed of sound (767 mph at sea level), A-Train would create sonic booms. Not a single boom. Constant booms for as long as he’s going fast enough. You (as a single individual) only hear one, but that’s only because you’re not moving.
We never see him do this, so we must conclude he’s not a complete idiot and only goes this fast when he’s far away from people and architecture. (If I read the screen right, he only clocks in at 371 in his race.)
Tumblr media
As for the secret girlfriend he murdered, there are several species of amphibians that can stick their own bones out through their skin to use as weapons. For example, species of frog within the genus Astylosternus, and Trichobatrachus robustus (aka the hairy frog). The Spanish ribbed newt can push its ribs out through its torso; when threatened, its skin also secrets poison, turning its bones into poisonous barbs.*****
4. Translucent isn’t see-through. He’s see-around.
Tumblr media
As the man explains to Jimmy the late night host (No, not that Jimmy the late night host...the other Jimmy the late night host), his skin can convert at will to a “carbon metamaterial” that bends light around it.
We don’t know if there are other elements involved besides carbon, but if there aren’t, the real-world comparison is graphene -- an atom-thick layer of carbon atoms bonded to each other forming a honeycomb pattern.
Given its thickness, it’s translucent itself. [Side note: yes, “translucent” doesn’t mean invisible. However, some dictionaries (e.g. Merriam Webster and the OED) include alternative definitions identical to "transparent"...which goes against everything I ever learned. But either way, he actually is translucent when he isn’t “translucent”. Because human skin is translucent, assuming there isn’t too much melanin in it.]
A 2D sheet of graphene has a breaking strength of 42 Pa (0.0061 psi). That number seems super small, but it's actually reflecting the strongest material we know of. You'd need 4,300 pounds balanced on a pencil (pointy end on the graphene) to break through that atom-thick sheet.
Alternatively, if I did my back-of-the-envelope math right, you’d need a 50 gram .50-cal bullet traveling at ~770,000 mph (and coming to a stop in ~1 millisecond). Now, the human epidermis averages ~1mm thick. That's 3 million layers of graphene.
However, if you manage to put a crack into your graphene, it becomes brittle on par with a ceramic.`*
As for being able to electrocute Translucent because carbon is “highly conductive”, graphene is indeed so; however, other carbon compounds aren't (e.g. diamonds). It all depends on the positioning of electrons within the solid (moving electrons = flowing charge). Since we don’t know what Translucent’s metamaterial is, we’ll have to take the show at its word.
Though here’s some bonus info: metamaterials are all synthetic. Which would mean that Translucent had this skin installed somehow. Or, it’s a very subtle dig at Compound V being used to create superheroes that only I caught.
The one thing that the season left bugging me about Translucent was his eyeballs. Somehow those are see-through.
5. Starlight pushes it real good
Tumblr media
Our newest member of the Seven can use concentrated light to knock baddies off their feet, as well as throw them several meters back. This is an exaggerated form of reality. Light can actually push stuff.
Photons do exert a teeny tiny amount of pressure on whatever they hit. It’s called radiation pressure. The amount is sufficient for something like a solar sail (The above image is LightSail 2), but not wiping the floor with a criminal.
According to (more) envelope math, Starlight would need to emit ~30 PetaWatts to deliver a good boxer-level punch to a baddie standing ~2 meters away. That's the equivalent amount of energy released by 7.2 million tons of TNT exploding, in 1 second.
Also, given the color of the light she emits, she’s probably emitting a spectrum identical to our Sun, meaning she’s emitting a ton of light that normally gets blocked by our atmosphere, including x-rays and ultraviolet radiation.
She’s definitely given someone a melanoma at some point during her life. Or at least a very bad sunburn.
Bonus: Ice Princess shatters wangs
Tumblr media
Final back-of-the-envelope math, calculating how fast that guy's (presumably erect) penis would freeze being enveloped by an ice vagina at -346 °F (-210 °C). A combination of calculating the heat lost per second via conduction, and the amount of energy lost as body-temp water cools and converts to ice.
Came out to 0.1 seconds.
Faster than I expected...
_______________________________________________________________________
* Visible light is ~400-700 nm
** There are several (nonradioactive) metals more dense than lead, but more rare/expensive, like gold and iridium.
*** Also, brass can be up to 45% zinc. Does that mean Homelander can only sort of see through brass?
**** Get out of here with your imperial units, self...
***** Fun fact: it can regenerate lost limbs, heart tissue, brain cells, and its spinal cord
`* Butt cracks don’t count.

bittersweet between my teeth
Rating: T
Words: 1.7k
Warnings: None!
~
It was quiet when Stiles snuck back to the Hale house, the clearing hushed like even nocturnal birds and animals were respecting the crime scene. He wasn’t sure why Derek would still be here, but he had a hunch. The hunch was: Derek had nowhere else to go. Even after all the terrible things that had happened in this half-acre patch of burnt woods, Derek still thought of it as home. Maybe the fresh coat of tragedy and gunpowder would be enough to make the idea of sleeping here less appealing than hunting for an apartment—if Derek stayed in Beacon Hills at all. That thought had hit him like a ball of ice, had burned through his exhaustion and driven him back here, to the most recent setting of his future nightmares.
The creak of the porch steps made him freeze, skin taut over racing blood, even as he reminded himself that Derek would have heard him coming a mile away. He took another step, then two, past the gaping front door ragged with bullet holes.
Stiles cleared his throat, as if that could keep his voice from cracking. “Derek?”
Silence was his only answer, but it was a particular quality of silence, one that Stiles had become pretty well acquainted with. He waited for his eyes to adjust to the dark.
“Hey,” Stiles said to the stiff shadow above the stairs. The dull gleam of unearthly red slowly expanded from slits as the new alpha’s eyes opened just enough to glare at him.
“Go home,” Derek said.
“I went,” Stiles said. He’d changed, showered, picked up the spare key for the jeep, and made Jackson ferry him back to the parking garage where Peter had threatened and abandoned him, a lifetime ago. Jackson had been white-knuckled and silent the entire way; small mercies. That wouldn’t last. “Now, I’m back.”
The red eyes vanished, and Stiles heard a soft thump as Derek dropped his head back against the wall. “Why.”
“Um.” Stiles kind of wanted to step further in and close the door behind him, but he wasn’t sure normal house etiquette applied to half-torched, bloodstained, bullet-riddled husks. He shuffled in place. “So. You’re the alpha.”
Silence.
“How’s that… going,” he tried.
The silence somehow gave him the impression that if he had werewolf powers, he’d hear Derek grinding his teeth.
“I just ask because… well. The last guy who was the alpha, he was… how do I say this? Nuts. Totally nuts.”
“Stiles.”
“He was so nuts that the drive to make a pack had him immediately deciding that his number one priority was to bite literally the first asshole he ran into, which was Scott. And you saw how that turned out for him. Not to mention, the whole string of murders afterwards was murder on—on my dad.”
Silence.
“So you see where I’m going with this.”
The red eyes flared again, brighter. The upper floor creaked dangerously as Derek leaned forward. “Are you asking?”
“I—.” Despite the open door at his back and that half the house was ripped open to the woods, Stiles felt like the air had been sucked out of the room. He took a few deep breaths. Licked his lips. “What?”
“Are. You. Asking.”
“For—am I asking for the bite?”
“Yes, Stiles. Are you asking for the bite.”
“No!”
“Then why are you here?” The eyes rose gracefully as Derek stood up to loom harder, brightening as they caught more light, or Stiles’s eyes adjusted. Or maybe the glow burned hotter as Derek got pissed.
“I just came to check on you! God! I don’t want you to bite me, but I—”
“That’s a lie.”
Stiles felt his heart leap into his throat, shook his head against the memory of Peters teeth against his wrist. “You can listen to my heartbeat from all the way up there? That’s—ha. Freaky alpha hearing.” The sudden sweat on the back of his neck was clammy as he wiped it away.
“Stiles,” Derek snapped, and whatever it was that always drew Stiles’s attention no matter how scattered, like a magnet, like a lightning bolt, it was stronger now. It rang inside him, echoing, reverberating, so that one word had him reeling like a struck tuning fork, answering before he could catch his breath.
“I’m not—it’s not a lie. I mean, who doesn’t want superpowers, right? But I—You said it could kill me.” And so had Peter. “I can’t do that to my dad, Derek. I can’t leave him alone.”
The palpable cloud of menace slowly receded. The red vanished. “Okay,” Derek said, strangely subdued.
Stiles gaped into the darkness, thrown by the simple acceptance. But. Derek knew something about being left.
So Stiles barreled on, rather than let either of them dwell on it. “That’s a yes on the instincts, I guess. If you’re just handing out wolf bites to whoever drops by.”
“Laura fought it for years,” Derek said, and even from the upper story, it felt close. Confessional. “I’ll—I can control it.” From how he was struggling to even say it, Stiles was skeptical.
“She had a pack,” Stiles pointed out. “She had you.”
Silence.
Stiles licked his lips again, heart pounding. Closed his eyes. “I know you can have humans in a pack. I know—your family had humans. And I’ve been in Scott’s pack. Since. So far.” Derek made a dark, derisive noise, and Stiles hurried to finish before he got angry again, or laughed. “If it’s okay that I’m human—that I stay human, I could—I would—"
He barely registered the shriek of the bannister as Derek leapt over, or the displaced rush of air. The solid landing, on the weakened floorboards right in front of him, almost brought Stiles to his knees. “Whoa, hey—"
“Don’t joke about this,” Derek said, eyes like a banked fire, too close to look away from, close enough that Stiles could feel the raw heat of him, breathed in the animal musk and ash and—pond scum, weirdly, like he’d jumped in a lake. His palm was hot through Stiles’s thin t-shirt, shoving him back against the wall, splayed fingers digging in like he could pick Stiles up like a basketball, like he could tear out his heart, and maybe he could. “Don’t say it if you don’t mean it,” he said, but it sounded like he was the one torn open, bleeding out. This close, the darkness weak between them, Stiles could see the wildness, the fear, that his whole façade was made up of cracks, barely strung together. Stiles realized with a jolt that if he pushed him just right, dug his fingers into the sensitive places, he could make Derek shatter.
Somehow, that made it easier to rest his hand over Derek’s, to lightly press that trembling power even closer to his heart. “I mean it,” Stiles said, meeting his eyes, steady, strong. “I want to be in your pack.”
Derek’s fingers spasmed hard enough that Stiles was pretty sure he’d have bruises in the morning, and the air between them was full again of that pressure Derek had reeled in earlier, the weight of his power. The scarce inches separating them were charged with a turbulent potential that Stiles could almost feel like static on his skin. Slowly, carefully, eyes burning, Derek leaned closer.  Stiles had to bite his lip and try not to hyperventilate, couldn’t help but glance down at his mouth as it opened, and he couldn’t keep in a gasp when the edge of Derek’s teeth shone in reflected starlight. The fangs. The fangs. His heart kicked into higher gear and he struggled, on instinct, lashing out, but of course he was stuck, trapped, pinned like a bug, like an idiot—
“Ssh,” Derek murmured, gentle, around his huge fucking fangs. “You have to submit.”
Stiles threw his head back with a high, sharp laugh, because what did that even mean? and then his whole body was shuddering, beyond his control, because Derek’s fangs were on him, on his neck, the barest pressure around his pounding jugular. “Ssh,” Derek said again, and the soft brush of his lips sparked a different kind of shudder entirely, the adrenaline and the heat and the way his skin always leapt to Derek’s touch crashing against each other in a way that was consuming, and mortifying, and entirely not his fault.
“Okay,” Stiles said, sucking in a deep breath, willing it to be true. “Okay, we’re doing this now. This is happening.” He squeezed his eyes shut, unclenched his abused muscles one by one until he could slump against the wall, let Derek take his weight as his warm breath dampened Stiles’s neck. Derek, the bastard, only hummed, giving him yet another sensation to try not to react to. “Ugh.” Not sure what to do with his arms, he tried awkwardly setting one on Derek’s gently heaving shoulder, wrapping the other around in an uncomfortable kind of hug.
Eventually, teeth that had gone human-blunt pulled back entirely, and Derek kind of stiffened. Stiles magnanimously decided to ignore Derek’s embarrassment as he came back to himself.
“You are rank, dude. Did you go run through a swamp?” he said instead, and the tension in his shoulders slowly deflated.
“Lake,” Derek admitted. “Shut up.” He nuzzled into the curve of Stiles’s shoulder a little, like he could do it stealthily. “Pack members should respect the alpha.”
Stiles rolled his eyes. “Oh, yeah? Well, you’ve met me, so if that was a requirement, you shouldn’t have said yes.” He risked a condescending pat on the head, Derek’s hair thick under his fingers. “I don’t think I could respect anyone who smells this fucking terrible.” He ignored Derek’s grumble. “If we’re going to get anyone else to join this pack, you’ll have to shower. Like, regularly.”
The scrape of Derek’s stubble on the delicate skin of his neck sent shivers all the way to his toes, and he felt Derek’s toothy grin in response.
This was either the best or the worst idea he’d ever had.

Ladrien June - Days 4,5,6
Combined prompts for days 4,5,6: Model, damsel, working together.
The photo of Adrien and Ladybug kissing from the first prompt batch comes back, as the two have to recreate the scene.
(Ao3)
Ladybug had strong policy regarding her presence in media, encouraged not just by her own moral compass, but also by Tikki constantly reminding her to not overuse her powers. She couldn't control people making shirts or toys with her, and only occasionally she allowed media to use her image or name, as long as the cause would fit her superheroine creed. But she had to admit, recreating the image that has now cemented themselves in collective minds of Parisians was too good opportunity to let pass.
There were two reasons for her to do the shoot. One of them was that the profits from selling the calendar were going directly to charities.
The second one was Adrien.
- I think it's perfect...
Pierre, the photographer that has been working with Adrien for the last couple of years and invited them to his private studio, looked at the two through enormous lenses of his camera, correcting myriads of settings. Marinette was trying very hard not to take a picture and send it to Alya, just to ask if the future reporter had any bigger ones in her collection. She definitely remembered Nino buying her one for her last birthday.
- Ladybug?
Adrien's voice brought Marinette back to Earth, making her focus once again at the only other person in the room. Adrien smiled at her, reminding her it was time to take the picture. Or rather, as he was used to, a series of pictures, from which only one would make its way to the printing press.
On the screen next to them, the original one was displayed, reminding Marinette of that faithful day. She didn't have to look at it to remember the wind rushing past her as she was plummeting down, chasing Adrien's body falling to the ground. And then, his fingertips brushed her, his grip became stronger, and then she felt the sharp pull of her yo-yo she has subconsciously shot upwards, knowing it would catch onto one of the grotesques of the neo-gothic building.
For a seemingly everlasting moment, the two were soaring through the skies, looking into each other's eyes, trying to saviour the enchanting moment that might have ended horribly if it wasn't for Ladybug's quick-thinking.
Marinette honestly didn't remember when they started kissing, when they were still in flight, or when she arrived on the ground, holding him in her arms, blissfully unaware of the people around them.
- Shall we...? - Adrien asked, soft blush adoring his face. - Yes - Marinette answered, trying to act casually, though her voice has betrayed her - Yes, we should...
Adrien's arms closed around her neck, while Ladybug's sneaked hers underneath his legs, pulling him towards her. Though he was skinny, Marinette had to admit, it wasn't the easiest task to do on-demand, as even her superpowers couldn't do much with her shaking legs. But of course, the artist thought about it, and here's where the white-painted, steep stairs came into place, allowing Marinette to sit for a long period of time, while retaining her recreated, heroic position.
She swung her yo-yo around the beam under the studio's ceiling, and turned her head towards Adrien, finding the same mesmerised stare that lead her to their sudden, public display of passion.
Somewhere around them she could hear the constant clicking of the camera, but those, combined with the heat and blinding light from several lamps around them from each side only made the moment even more surreal. Though she knew well she was in a studio, Marinette felt she has been transported to that plaza once again, reliving the blood-freezing maneuver she had to pull off to save him.
And so, neither she, nor Adrien were surprised when their lips met again in a slow, long kiss, and their arms tightened around each other's back, pulling them deeper into the romantic embrace, allowing the two to taste each other once more.
Pierre, on the other hand, was rather shocked, and only his gentle cough after a solid minute of watching their kiss has brought them back to reality.
- W-What?
Marinette stuttered, breaking the kiss, as she suddenly remembered where and when she was. Her eyes widened when she noticed Adrien's equally surprised stare and the trace of her lipstick on his mouth, and she nearly let go of him, though his grip on her shoulder prevented the model from gaining a few bruises.
- Monsieur, I-I am so sorry... - she began apologising. - Yes, we, uh, we got a bit carried a-away... - Adrien added.
But instead, they heard enthusiastic applause, as Pierre clapped his hands, and approached the two.
- That was magnificent! - he cheered - That is exactly what art is about! Capturing and evoking emotions! And it only proves how powerful and moving that moment was...
He twirled in place, before rushing to his computer, while Adrien and Marinette exchanged slightly worried looks. They followed him, watching as slide-show of pictures was displayed on the large monitor. At first, there was barely any difference between them, but then, as their eyes closed, Adrien and Ladybug on the screen began slowly moving towards each other, puckering their lips, waiting for the kiss. The two couldn't directly met each other's eye without blushing; kissing on the set was one thing, but watching it happen in slow-motion was not something they have been prepared for.
- Amazing! Phenomenal! - Pierre continued complimenting their half-accidental work - This will be the best photograph of the whole series!
He moved on his swivel chair aside, showing Ladybug and Adrien a near-finished image; the white background was replaced with a faint copy of the original photo, moments before their lips would meet, while the two in the foreground were already deeply immersed in the kiss, completing the scene.
Adrien took a quick glance at Ladybug, nodded and addressed his friend.
- Ehm, Pierre, can we... Can we talk about this? - Oh, don't you like it? - the photographer widened his eyes - I think it looks superb! The pose, the lighting, it radiates with romance, I- - No, no, it looks amazing... - Ladybug interjected - It's just we... uh, we didn't expect to kiss. I mean, it was just supposed to be the "holding Adrien in my arms scene".
She smiled, hoping her polite tone has carried its meaning.
- I see... - Pierre replied - The best emotions are captured impromptu, a vista, without preparations, but of course, I understand...
He seemed a bit torn. With a few gestures of his mouse, he changed their pose, choosing one from the photo where they haven't kissed yet.
- Does... this look better? - It does, Pierre - Ladybug smiled. - But... I would love if we could have the copies of it.
Adrien reached into his pocket and handed him his pen-drive.
- Just for us, I mean. - he winked.
The next moment, Pierre complied, copying the pictures to Adrien's disk, and then, to cement their deal, almost half of the thumbnails disappeared from the screen with a single press of his "delete" key.
- Thank you. - Adrien shook his hand. - No, no, it was my pleasure...
Pierre bowed, addressing both him and Ladybug, and watched them as they left towards the doors of his studio.
- That was... unexpected. - Ladybug whispered, her cheeks turning crimson again. - Yes... But I can't say I didn't like it. - If he didn't caugh... - Ladybug spoke, covering her face in hands. - That would give the press a whole new thing to speculate about. - Adrien chuckled, and they both burst into laughter.
The photographer waited until the two left the building, Adrien through conventional means, and Ladybug jumping through the window on the slanted roof.
He took another long pause, opened back the folder with the photoshoot, sighed, and pressed "control" and "Z".

What kind of super powers would the DR1 and UDG cast have?
Firstly, I cut it since it’s so long but it’s all there!Secondly, I only included Komaru and the Warriors of Hope in UDG.This took so long, and there’s a lot more in here than the other versions so they’re a little shorter. I hope you like it!
The Superpowers The DR1 and Ultra Despair Girls Casts Would Have!
SDR2 Version | V3 Version
Makoto Naegi
Superpower(s): Hope Inducement, Fate ImmunityHope Inducement: The ability to induce Hope into others.Fate Immunity: The power to be immune to the course of fate.
Makoto’s powers counter that of Junko Enoshima’s.
He can induce Hope into others through means of mind control and other psychicabilities. With that said, he’s also immune to normal mind control.
He radiates Hope and induces anyone who comes into contact with him orsurrounds him with it, using that driving willpower to fight against crime andevil. Just being in the same room as him will cause you to feel his powers.
He naturally induces Hope, simply being around him will affect you and he won’t even have to do anything; Makoto can also purposefully induce Hope into a target as well if needed.
Targets with stronger willpower will take more effort and energy to induce.
Fate Immunity also comes in handy since he is able to change the course of hisown fate and others, using it as a method to protect himself and loved ones.
Makoto has used this power to cheat death multiple times and any time thingslook bad for him, he can simply alter reality and his own destiny. He doesn’thave entire control over what happens but can use it to avoid certainsituations.
Mind readers can predict his moves but cannot change them for his willpower is too strong, he isn’t easily induced or controlled.
He has also used Fate Immunity to save his comrades lives as well.
Kyoko Kirigiri
Superpower(s): Pattern Sense, Truth Detection Pattern Sense: The ability to perceive, analyze, and comprehend patterns.Truth Detection: The power to detect truths in any situation.
Kyoko’s powers are a gift and perhaps that explains why sheis such a phenomenal Detective.
Other than Enhanced Investigation which gives her an edge, she has PatternSense which improves her analytical and perceptive skills.
She’s able to analyze crime scenes, including the chemical components ofevidence just by examining them, sense a suspect’s true nature and intentions, locate evidence more easily, calculate probabilities in the future and decipherthe world.
Her powers are linked to her brain and eyes, and it is a superhuman feat thatimproves her crime-solving capabilities. Kyoko is able to notice even thesmallest of details and often solves crimes within minutes and long beforeanyone else could.
Overall, her Detective powers go beyond that of a normal human.
It can be triggered randomly, which is linked to her strong gut feelings.
She also uses Truth Detection and can constantly sense credibility and falseinformation in any given situation; even if she hardly hears what was said andis an earshot away, she can immediately decipher whether or not said person islying, regardless of if they are a stranger or not. She can sense lies and can never successfully be deceived, even by those with Deception and Lying Superpowers.
It won’t work against brain-washed targets, but it does help Kyoko tell whenshe is in the presence of a shapeshifter or mind controller, etc.
Byakuya Togami
Superpower(s): Currency Generation, Monetary Empowerment Currency Generation: The ability to create currency out of thin air.Monetary Empowerment: The power to gain strength from money/currency.
The Togami family has a secret to how they’ve remained sowealthy, and that’s through the use of these powers that are passed down fromgeneration to generation.
With Currency Generation, Byakuya can create mounds of money on a whim ortransform objects into money through touch.
In essence, anything he touches turns to gold… literally. Although, he cannot turn living beings into currency.
And with Monetary Empowerment, he becomes faster, stronger, and more durablethrough wealth: the amount of wealth he possesses at any given time willdetermine these things. His strength, intelligence, and so on reflect in his wealth.
With that said, if he loses a lot of money then Byakuya and his powers canbecome weakened. He can lose strength, stamina, intelligence, reflexes and so on.
He remains so strong through Currency Generation; every time his powers start to decline or dwindlehe simply generates more money out of thin air and regains his strength.
Byakuya doesn’t have time to fight crime, much more interested in the personalgain and wealth he gets through use of his powers.
He never has to worry about becoming poor as well.
Celestia Ludenberg
Superpower(s): Trickster, Tactical Genius Trickster: The ability to play tricks and disobey the conventional rules ofbehavior.Tactical Genius: The power to have infallible tactics and strategy.
Celestia obtained her powers naturally and they have helpedher become a master gambler.
She has no use for crime fighting, using them for her own recreational purposesinstead. She falls between villain and hero, leaning more towards using her powers for benefit and mischief.
Through Trickster, she mocks authority and follows her own rules. Celestia iscunning and can use it in a variety of ways: fooling people into falling forher lies and deception, disguising herself to gain an advantage over others, orsimply tricking others into doing her bidding.
She doesn’t bother with immature tricks, instead using her power to play people into her hands, especially in Casinos.
Her charm and seduction has also helped her gain an advantage in this realm.
With Tactical Genius, she can see through all and read people like books;perception, patterns, and information cannot slip past her – this is why she’ssuch a successful gambler.
Celestia can see through the card dealer and determine their moves as well as emitting an aura that deceives them into doing as she pleases. rigging games to her favor.
She is able to always be two steps ahead of everyone around her, predictingtheir strategy before even they know what their next move is.
Leon Kuwata
Superpower(s): Speed Throwing, Intuitive AptitudeSpeed Throwing: The ability to throw objects at extremely high speeds.Intuitive Aptitude: The power to instantly learn and understand the complexityand exactness of organisms, objects, etc. without the need of long-term ofspecial education.
Leon gained his abilities naturally. Intuitive Aptitude camefirst, which is something that runs in his blood-line; it’s why he was able topick up baseball so easily without having to go to practice.
He’s able to easily learn the mechanics of something, regardless of how simpleor complex. He tells people it’s just because he has a good gut and learns quickly.
It goes so much deeper than that, though. Leon has senses that a normal humandoesn’t have and is the main reason why he excels at just about everything hedoes.
And he can easily adapt to changes and whatever an enemy throws at him.
Speed Throwing was an ability he obtained through sports, particularlybaseball; it helped him with pitching.
Depending on how large and heavy the object is that he’s throwing willdetermine its damage, and if he needs to he can impale enemies with pointedobjects.
A trail of fire is often seen following the objects he throws – if he can liftit, he can throw it.
Typically, Leon stays out of crime-fighting because it’s not his scene. However, he steps in when necessary. He doesn’t like fighting solo and refuses to call himself a hero, though.
Aoi Asahina
Superpower(s): Hydromancer, Whirlpool GenerationHydromancer: The power to manipulate and bend water.Whirlpool Generation: The ability to create whirlpools on a whim.
Aoi discovered the talent hidden within her whilst swimmingone day; ever since, her superpowers have caused her to be an even greaterswimmer than she was before.
More than that, she can create water at the tip of her fingers or manipulate and bend alreadyexisting bodies of water. Aoi is able to use them as attacks if she pleases, changing their consistency from liquid to strong and solid, hitting the targetwith a ton of force.
She can also turn a stream of water into burning, scalding steam as an attack.
It’s very similar to Water-Bending in Avatar, moving them with her mind and hands. And the larger the body of water, the more powerful her attacks become.
She can also generate whirlpools inside of water or even out of thin air, almostlike a black-hole that sucks and traps enemies. It’s very violent and trains her energy, though. Once an enemy falls into a whirlpool, they won’t be able to escape and are at her mercy.
And she does use her powers for recreational use as well, improving herswimming, but she prefers using them for crime-fighting. She has enhanced herabilities so much that she can also freeze water if she pleases and control iceas well. She is working on freeze-breath, but for now she can just turn an already existing body of water into solid ice with just one touch.
Aoi is so talented that she’s mastered the art of Water-Healing as well, able to heal mortal wounds using her powers.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru
Superpower(s): Moral ManipulationMoral Manipulation: The ability to manipulate the boundaries between right andwrong.
Kiyotaka is incredibly torn between his superpowers: he is agenerally good person and the fact that he is able to essentially alter realityreally hurts him emotionally.
With his powers, he is able to manipulate and shift the basic concept ofmorality. He can change what is viewed as good and right into wrongdoing andwhat is seen as evil or totally immoral into the right thing.
If he wanted to, he can make genocide seem perfect but healing someone in needcould cause anger and hatred.
It’s incredibly powerful and he understands the risks so he uses his powers sparingly and solely for good purposes.
Kiyotaka’s strong sense of justice sometimes gets in the way and he’ll bend the morals to seek justice, like a vigilante with superpowers.
If he knows someone is committing acts of moral wrongdoing but others refuse to see it, he can manipulate it and force them to see everything wrong in the world.
Although, he is hyper-sensitive to the evils that come with reality as well because of this, which drains his energy.
He can’t cause physical damage or attacks, only change others’ mentality.
His affects can be long-lasting and he can change the way we view certain things forever to adhere to his liking or only temporarily change the morals of a scenario.
But he’ll never change others’ opinions of himself to benefit his own moral standing because that isn’t right. He never alters things to make himself seem like a better person, even though he technically could. He feels like people don’t easily trust him since he could change their viewpoints with the snap of a finger.
Touko Fukawa
Superpower(s): Hidden Arsenal, Dagger Proficiency Hidden Arsenal: The ability to hide a large amount of weaponry within an item, clothing, or object.Dagger Proficiency: The power to possess great skill in wielding daggers andknives.
When she’s Touko, she really isn’t very extraordinary – atypical teenaged girl. When she shifts into Genocider, though, is wheneverything changes.
She used to be more like a super-villain but her intents have shifted. Toukoisn’t fond of her powers and she fears that people will think she’s a freak ifthey know, or worse – she’ll scare them away.
She has since learned how to use her powers as Touko and doesn’t limit herself to only using them when she is Genocider, but she often finds no use for them in her normal persona.
With Hidden Arsenal, she’s able to hide numerous weapons inside of her clothing– even those that are larger than the dimensions of her body. In itself, shecan turn herself into the weapon if she wanted to.
It’s also called Body Storage, and Touko’s carrying at least thirty weapons onher at all times – but you’d never be able to tell.
It’s normally for self-protection or protection of others.
Dagger Proficiency goes beyond simply being skilled with a blade – she has avaried fighting style and is a much more hands-on hero than most. A lot ofpeople don’t even view her powers as real powers.
Because of her powers, she is much more cunning and stealthy than your averagehuman.
Knowing that Genocider can be a little hard to control and unpredictable, Touko has begun fighting as herself and using her powers on her own terms but still somewhat fears usage of blades.
Mondo Oowada
Superpower(s): Hellfire, Vehicular CombatHellfire: The ability to control the fire from the depths of Hell.Vehicular Combat: The ability to be highly proficient with vehicles solelymeant for combat purposes.
Despite his attitude, Mondo uses his powers mainly for good. He’s a cocky superhero, though, and tends to get ahead of himself.
Hellfire and his powers in general are similar to that of Ghost Rider; sure, he cancreate flames from his hands and shoot fireballs from his palms, but what’s cooler than thatis surrounding his bike with flames and riding through the city on a flame-bike.
When he rides it, it leaves a trail of fire behind him – however, Mondo is immune togetting burned.
His flames destroy anything they touch, and the color varies – mainly eithernormal flame colors or green.
Hellfire is summoned from the depths of Hellitself and is hotter than normal fire.
Almost everyone, or at least the higher-up members, in the Crazy Diamondspossess this ability.
If he has to, he will use fire from his hands to fight. He loves scorching enemies with the hellish flames from his exhaust, though.
And Mondo can fight using his bike, with both the flames he creates that surround itand the armory stored within his bike. He is essentially able to use his bikeas a weapon in itself.
He has altered it to become a weapon and endure his Hellfire ability. He thinks of himself as a real-life Ghost Rider.
Sayaka Maizono
Superpower(s): Siren Song, Death SongSiren Song: The power to emit a sound that lures anyone who hears it towardsthe user.Death Song: The power to cause death by emitting sound.
Sayaka had always been a beautiful singer but a tragic accidentenhanced her abilities, thus giving her these powers.
She is prideful when it comes to her singing voice and is able to switch hernormal one on and off, so that she can sing normally if she wanted to withoutusing her powers.
Normal Sirens can only attract the opposite sex with their songs but Sayakahas obtained the ability to attract both sexes.
Anyone who hears her Siren songs will immediately become infatuated with herand unable to resist her; even if they wanted to run away from her, they wouldbe physically unable to.
Once you hear it, you are completely under her spell. A form of hypnosis; it is mesmerizing, those who hear it will fall under her bidding.
Sayaka can also use Death Song, so that anyone who hears it will die – she cantarget one person with it or several people in her vicinity, depending on the situation.
It causes a frequency so high that it destroys the brain of whoever hears it,of course Sayaka is immune to its effects.
She does use her powers for good, mainly taking out evil-doing men with them.
She’ll lure in her enemies with her Siren song, and once they are unable to get away, she’ll use Death Song to end their life.
Chihiro Fujisaki
Superpower(s): Digital Teleportation and Bionic PhysiologyDigital Teleportation: The power to teleport via digital data.Bionic Physiology: The power to use the abilities of a robot, machine, orweapon.
Chihiro gained these powers in a freak accident, involvingthe technology he’d been programming.
Now, he is able to literally become one with his technology.
All he has to do is run his hands along the technology he wants to teleportwith and activate his powers, and he will be able to use their programming andwires to teleport.
For example, if in a computer lab, Chihiro could teleport into one computer andthen move to the opposite side of the room, teleporting out of another. It’s the same as other forms of teleportation, only limited to digital methods.
It’s not limited to just computers though, he can also teleport through phones, machines; anything involving technology.
Bionic Physiology allows Chihiro to transform either his entire body or hislimbs into machines – although, it’s limited to the things he’s come intocontact with previously.
He can turn his arm into a weapon, for example. Although, he can short-circuitif he uses too much power at once; he also isn’t very comfortable with using weapons, not wanting to hurt anyone.
Once he teleports into something, he can use Bionic Physiology to control it as well.
Sakura Oogami
Superpower(s): Strength Absorption, Sense of StrengthStrength Absorption: The ability to steal/absorb the strength of others and addit to one’s own level of strength.Sense of Strength: The ability to know a target’s powers, skills and strengths.
Sakura is going to be a local hero, a face that everyoneknows and relies on and an ultimate crime-fighter.
She is humble, down-to-earth, and doesn’t always talk about her powers buteveryone knows what she is capable of. She insists that it’s nothing special.
With Sense of Strength, she can scan an enemy and immediately tell what powersthey possess and what their strengths and weaknesses are, as well as weak points. Sakura is then ableto use that against them - literally.
Combining that with Strength Absorption, she can alter their own abilities and manifestthem into herself, weakening them and making herself stronger so that there’s nowunbalanced skill levels.
She steals others’ physical power and drain away the enemy, adding it to her own strength and causing her to become more powerful. Since she is soskilled in combat, she is able to use her powers to defeat nearly any enemy shecomes across.
There is a limit to how much strength Sakura can take from others but that is alimit she has never reached.
She is incredibly moral and would never use her powers against innocentcitizens. And no matter what, Sakura is always going to rush head-first into a fight, never fearing her enemy.
Yasuhiro Hagakure
Superpower(s): DivinationDivination: The ability to gain insight into a question or situation using anoccultic, standardized process or ritual.
Yasuhiro always had these superpowers, born with them, butit took him a very long time to gain any sort of credibility. Everyone alwaysdismissed him or didn’t believe him when he said he had powers.
Since he’s been dismissed so many times, he typically stays out of the crime-fighting scene, feeling like a reject.
When he was younger, he was a lot less accurate; as he’s gained experience andage, he is able to precisely predict the past, present, and future as well asother methods of divination.
Yasuhiro is able to communicate with the supernatural and read patterns. He hasa ‘third-eye’ which he uses to see into the future or accurately predict thepast, causing him to read people like a book.
He’s also evolved into using Crystallomancy, particularly his Crystal Ball butGems as well, which he can use to see into the future, too.
Yasuhiro has also developed the ability of Precognition, a form of Divination;with this, he is able to perceive future events before they happen. He usesthis to prevent tragedies from happening and warn others of events to come and to predict the villains’ nextmoves.
He’s also capable of performing more ‘mundane’ acts; palm and aura reading, future-telling, and so on like a ‘normal’ psychic.
And he has Mediumship, able to communicate with the dead as well.
Junko Enoshima
Superpower(s): Despair Inducement, Mind ControlDespair Inducement: The power to induce a great sense of Despair into others.Mind Control: Control the minds of others.
Let’s be honest, Junko is going to be more of a Super-villainthan a Hero.
She was born with these powers which may be why she is titled the UltimateDespair. With her powers, Junko is able to cause feelings of Despair anddepression into others.
Unlike Makoto, she has to physically come in contact with someone to induce Despair.
The feelings she creates and implements into others makes them feel as if thereis no reason to live, encouraging hopelessness. The feelings she can create are so powerful that it can drive others to takingtheir lives.
Junko first tested out her abilities on her sister, Mukuro. Since then, the pair have worked together.
With Mind Control, she can cause total Despair – if someone chooses not tosubmit to her or somehow resists the inducement, all she has to do is controlthem into doing as she pleases.
Her victims have no recollection of what they said or did whilst beingcontrolled. This is how she gets people to do her dirty work.
Junko has also used Mind Control to force others into spreading her powers like a disease.
The Despair can last for however long she pleases, and she can cause it to become intensified at will or choose to release the individual from her Despair.
Hifumi Yamada
Superpower(s): X-Ray VisionX-Ray Vision: The power to see through objects or people.
If we’re being honest, he mainly uses it for his ownbenefit. I mean… getting to look through clothing, that’s a score.
Hifumi is even able to look through fictional objects… yes, including anime andmanga characters. It’s both a blessing and a curse but he’s not going to complain.
He has learned how to transform this into light-energy and cause laser-vision as wellbut has yet to gain control of that.
He can see within objects, through walls, and so on. It can also be used formedical purposes to see cancer, tumors, and so on. He will proclaim himself as a Hero but doesn’t really do anything to benefit others.
It can be triggered randomly so sometimes Hifumi will accidentally use it,causing a lot of embarrassing moments and seeing things he didn’t want to.
His eyes are special and look different than a normal human’s and he hides his powers through his glasses. Although, ithas improved his eyesight as well so he really doesn’t even need them anymore.
It does emit radioactive waves when using his powers which can cause harm/health concerns to himself and others if not used properly, so helimits his usage. Because of this, Hifumi doesn’t really fight crime.
Mukuro Ikusaba
Superpower(s): Four Horsemen Physiology Four Horsemen Physiology: The power to use characteristics of the Four Horsemenof the Apocalypse
This is a power Mukuro obtained during her time in the war;it was caused during a freak accident.
With it, she can control and create devastating apocalyptic powers. This is obviously used in her efforts to spread Despair throughout the world.
Mukuro can control Famine, Pestilence, Conquest, and War - if she isn’t careful, she can actually end the world as we know it.
She can bring Famine to anyone she pleases, draining their body of nutrients at an insanely rapid pace. She spreads Pestilence through touch, and her diseases cannot be cured. And Mukuro can control entire armies to do her bidding through War.
Junko loves that since causing the world to cease to exist is just so Despair-inducing!
Often times, she uses her powers under Junko’s command, whether it be intentionallyfollowing orders or if she’s put under Junko’s mind control.
But she restrains herself, not entirely wanting to end the world. Her abilities are arguably more powerful than her sister’s, and once combined, the villains are nearly unstoppable.
Nagisa Shingetsu
Superpower(s): Enhanced Wits and Intelligence Enhanced Wits and Intelligence: The power to have wits/intelligence far beyond that ofnormal members of one’s species.
His powers were given to him by his family. It actuallyscares Nagisa a bit because he fears knowing too much or intimidating others.
Sometimes he’ll downplay his intelligence in order to deceive his enemies in combat. Because of this, it’s hard to predict what he’s going to do.
Although, he isn’t very strong so he resorts to mentally defeating his opponents.
Nagisa is quick on his feet, clever, and able to adapt to changing surroundings. His intelligence surpasses a normal human’s and he can perform complex mentaloperations beyond the normal mind.
It takes little effort and once he sees or hears something for the first time, that information sticks with him for the rest of his life.
Nagisa has exceptional problem-solving skills and deduction, ultimately usinghis powers mainly for good purposes.
He is wise beyond his years and his super-human intelligence is something that no one, other than Nagisa himself, can fully comprehend.
Kotoko Utsugi
Superpower(s): Genre Embodiment, Self-Adaption Genre Embodiment: The power to become the embodiment of specific genres.Self-Adaption: The power to adapt to any situation and select the way oneadapts.
Kotoko has used her powers to gain leverage in life andprogress her acting abilities.
Genre Adaption allows her to master any form ofacting and genre whatsoever, causing her to become a great actress. Although, drama is still her favorite.
Because of this, she’s also able to easily fool others with her genre-capabilities, bringing them into real-world scenarios rather than just on-stage plays. Kotoko is extremely deceptive and cunning.
This is used for her own benefit while she uses Self-Adaption to help others.
Kotoko is already a skilled fighter and she is able to adapt to any surroundingswith this ability. Virtually anything she may face can be altered to benefither.
She can adapt her body to become stronger or withstand certain elements, andshe’s gained many resources enabling her to survive.
She is a hands-on combat Hero and uses this to handle anything that her enemiesmay throw at her.
Kotoko can adapt to anything and thus, making her extremely hard to kill.
Monaca Towa
Superpower(s): PersuasionPersuasion: The ability to control people with the power of one’s own voice.
Unlike Junko Enoshima who uses Mind Control, Monaca usesPersuasion to command and control others with her voice.
She, too, will be more likely to become a Villain instead. She uses herpersuasion to get people to do as she pleases, bowing down to her and gaining asuperiority complex because of it.
Monaca often thinks she’s better than her ‘servants’ as she calls them.
Her targets are unable to disobey, no command is too much to handle when underher spell, as long as the target under her Persuasion is capable of carrying out said command. She often uses this to bring people into Despair as well, siding with Junko.
She is still young so she has yet to master everything involving her powers, but once she reaches a high-level she can eventually persuade people into harmingor killing themselves or others.
There are limitations, she cannot persuade someone into doing something theyare not capable of: for example, if she were to persuade someone who does notknow how to swim to go into the ocean, her powers would falter and fail.
It’s a lesser form of hypnosis strictly using her own voice. She finds amusement out of commanding others to do her bidding, somewhat still childlike and abusing her powers as well.
Masaru Daimon
Superpower(s): Super-Human Speed and StaminaSuper-Human Speed and Stamina: The ability to be supernaturally faster and moredurable than the average human.
He’s always had these superpowers and he loves them, usingthem to gain a lead in athletics. Since Masaru is still a kid, he typicallyabuses his powers and doesn’t always use them for good purposes, finding ways to use them for mischief.
He more-so wants to have fun with them than anything else.
He is glaringly faster than any other human, able to run at nearly the speed oflight.
He’s used this to pull pranks on people before, obviously.
If he accelerates too quickly, he can become severely damaged in the process. Ashe gets older and more experienced, he will become more immune to accelerationbut that’s a skill he has to learn.
And with Super-Human Stamina, Masaru is more durable than your average humanand he doesn’t get tired. He can push himself past his limits and not feel anykind of repercussions.
When he goes too fast, he can’t hear anything other than the wind passing himby. Luckily, Masaru can run for hours and fight for longer than his othersuperhero companions due to his enhanced stamina.
Komaru Naegi
Superpower(s): TelekinesisTelekinesis: The ability to manipulate objects and matter with her mind.
Komaru thought she was an average high-school girl, notrealizing what powers hid within her for a long time. Apparently, she’s alwayspossessed them and didn’t know.
She can influence objects with her mind, controlling them towards her or direct them at enemies. She can use objects as weapons, projecting them attargets just by standing still.
Nothing is off-limits: it doesn’t matter how heavy an object is, her telekinesis is so advanced thatshe can lift anything with her mind, including the enemies themselves.
Komaru had become so skilled with her psychic abilities that, using her trustyMegaphone Gun, she can also transmit that telekinetic psychic energy intowavelengths and use the frequencies in her mind as a physical weapon, shootingthem like sound-waves at her opponents.
She will definitely be one who wants to fight-crime, thriving to be a local Hero and protect others.
Although, if she uses too much telekinesis or exhausts her usage of telekineticwaves with the Megaphone, she can get a headache and drain her energy.
Komaru also uses it for mundane purposes in her free-time; what’s better than being able to lift the remote and bring it to you without ever getting up off the couch?
Jataro Kemuri
Superpower(s): Art ManipulationArt Manipulation: The power to manipulate art.
Jataro can create, shape, and manipulate art and the mediasused to create them. Although, since he is still young he hasn’t yet masteredhis powers.
He refrained from using them for quite some time because he thought it made hima freak and feared rejection. Only recently has he begun to open up to hisabilities.
Jataro is limited to already-existing artworks, not able to create them out ofthin air. He mainly only manipulates his own since he doesn’t want to ruinanyone else’s hard work.
Its power also depends on the media that the artwork was made from.
He can move and manipulate paint, pencils, and other art medias telepathically and create works of art without ever lifting a finger.
Jataro wants to side with crime-fighting but thinks his powers are pretty useless, so he mainly sticks with the benefits he gets and uses them to improve his own artwork.

Powerpuff Girls 2016 - “The Buttercup Job”
Tumblr media
Written by: Haley Mancini
Written & Storyboarded by: Jaydeep Hasrajani, Leticia Abreu Silva
Directed by: Nick Jennings, Bob Boyle
A job (not-so) well done.
Tumblr media
This episode starts with a description of the wacky object of the week: the Doom Cube. Whoever wields does have the potential to destroy mountains, or triangles, with the push of its button. It is not the Narrator talking about this object, as he has been missing since Season 1. Instead, it's another character that was missing since Season 1.
Tumblr media
It's none other than Jemmica, the titular frenemy from Frenemy! They do a decent job in reintroducing this character to those who did not see her debut episode. She's an adventerous elementary-aged Lara Croft/Indiana Jones character who the Powerpuff Girls have a bad history with. They even handwave that she shouldn't have survived in her last episode, proving that episodes don't just occur in their own universe. Slightly.
Jemmica tells the girls that she's on a mission to find this Doom Cube before it falls into the wrong hands. One would think the Powerpuff Girls would have second thoughts before teaming up with a girl who hypnotized them and nearly killed them, and they would be right. Blossom and Bubbles are not buying this, Blossom because she's smart enough to see a wild goose chase, and Bubbles because of the obvious wild goose joke.
Tumblr media
It does not help that she made her entrance by slamming a Jeep through the Powerpuff Girls' home before the episode started. Remember kids, do not trust a girl that joyrides a Jeep into your house. One of the girls has to learn this lesson, and no points for guessing who it is!
Sure enough, our rascally little green princess drools at the opportunity to team up with Jemmica. She does have a reason: she’s so bored waiting for Discount Jojo to do his latest doofus crime. Probably a bad sign for the show if even our main heroes are bored at the lack of action in this reboot. Buttercup promises to Blossom that they won't go with Jemmica...
Tumblr media
...but “she” will, repeating a joke from Somewhere Over The Swingset. Jemmica asks Buttercup where her sisters are, but Buttercup tells her that they're not interested in real adventures. She even tells her that Blossom thinks turning in her homework is as an adventure. Apparently, all the monster battles and criminal catching they should be doing in this series does not count.
Jemmica's first stop happens to be underwater, so Buttercup has to use her submarine aura. Gotta say, her specialty of weapons is really paying off here. While talking about her other adventures, which sound far more interesting than fighting super-lice, she mentions that she has to make the tough calls. Eventually, Jemmica sees the destination, right next to Jerry's Bait Shop.
Tumblr media
The Lost City of Atlantis! Jemmica just happens to know that this lost city happens to have a map to an evil doom cube in Poseidon's castle. Why is there a map to an evil doom cube in Poseidon's castle? Never explained, but I can imagine wanting an excuse to turn this show into Spongebob. They sure loved those explosion gags, after all.
Because Poseidon isn't much of a sharer, they're just going to have to "borrow" it. Jemmica even supplied the quote fingers with that. Buttercup immediately questions committing a crime as a crimefighter, but Jemmica tells Buttercup that she thought she was going with Buttercup, not Blossom. Just in case this line's cleverness did not come though...
Random Fish: Oh, buuuurn!
I am almost begging for the fist bumps, surprisingly absent in this episode, compared to that. Almost.
Tumblr media
Buttercup ends up in a mermaid costume, with a wah wah trumpet signalling that this is not going to work unless the guards were not very smart. I would make another toyset joke, but there has not been any toys lately. The first sign of Jemmica's jerkiness, well, outside of the whole "ramming cars into houses" thing and the "clearly being the bad influence from the beginning" thing, is that she forgot to pack Buttercup a way to breathe underwater. Thankfully, Buttercup doesn't need one. She can even magically talk underwater because superpowers.
Tumblr media
Atlantis happens to have guards, too. Because Spongebob magical aquatic kingdom, these fish talk, and they may be voiced by Rob Paulsen. It turns out, they are not very smart, and easily believe that these two merpeople are just here to clean the place where the map resides. There's some decent humor by PPG 2016 standards with these guys, not that funny, but not unwelcome either. Unlike that one fish.
Eventually, Buttercup swims too close to a wall, and the mermaid tail tearr off, revealing those evil human legs. Immediately calling this bug eyed freak a human, the guard fish charge after them. Some other fellow notices these humans intruding Atlantis, and Buttercup's best course of action is to shoot eye lasers first and ask questions later.
Tumblr media
...and that fellow turns out to be Poseidon. Those eye lasers were not even strong enough to beat some lice in the last episode, but one shot from Buttercup, and the King of Atlantis is, in Buttercup’s words, "not moving". Jemmica is happy about this murder, but Buttercup has second thoughts about this...
Tumblr media
...or not, as they immediately leave Atlantis in the submarine aura, leaving Atlantis' king to die. It is unexpected, shocking, and surprisingly dark, but it's also unnecessary. I could see it as a way for Jemmica to blackmail Buttercup into doing her deeds, but outside of some moping about it while driving away, but it only comes up in the end.
Tumblr media
Their next stop is the not-so-mythical land of Antarctica. A step down from Atlantis, to be honest. There's no talking fish guards, no kings, and no underwater adventures. Here, it's just snow and penguins, and the only joke they can come up with is seeing one of these penguins get launched into the sky as soon as Buttercup's sub aura crashes through the ice.
They crash through the ice right in front of the cavern where the Doom Cube is, and both of them fly out to smell the cool air. I can imagine a joke where Jemmica asks Buttercup how she can smell with no nostrils, but Buttercup just grows nostrils in this scene. Of course. Unfortunately, this cave is blocked by a door that's frozen solid. Buttercup decides this is the time to do her best Mr. Freeze impression. Sadly, it's that one.
Buttercup: Know why I'm good at parties? ...because I know how to break the ice!
Badum-tsh! She rapidly hits the ice...
Tumblr media
...and the door just slides open. Who would have guessed secret doors just give up if you hit them enough? Sure enough, the Doom Cube is just there, clearly not a trap that awakens a bunch of undead guards. Buttercup immediately tries to eye laser the Doom Cube, but Jemmica stops her. No, it's not because eye lasering an explosive box is not a good idea, but because Jemmica wants to use it in adventures, adventures Buttercup can do if she seperates from the Powerpuff Girls. Clearly, this must be the line that Jemmica crosses...
Buttercup: I'm through being a Powerpuff Girl.
Or maybe Buttercup will just outright give up being a superhero. In a better show, this should hint at a sort of twist, but I can expect this from the green one. They grab the Doom Cube from what is clearly not a trap that will awaken a bunch of undead guards, and immediately comment that this was extremely easy!
Tumblr media
Of course, this was a trap that awakens a bunch of undead guards, and you know they're serious when they do not talk. At least Atlantis had fitting fish guards with personality, here, the defenders of the cube are just generic zombie warlords. The episode would have been a lot better if they decided to keep this plot in Atlantis. It would have had more of a focus.
The door also decides to shut itself very slowly. Buttercup easily manages to get to the exit with her ability to fly very fast, accidently leaving Jemmica behind.
Tumblr media
Oh, of course Buttercup isn't the type to just let her new friends die, so she flies off to rescue her, dropping the Doom Cube in the process!
Tumblr media
Oops.
Okay, I made that up, including the image. We never figure out what exactly the Doom Cube does to cause its doom. Does it launch ancient missles? Does it just explode? Wouldn't that kill the user too, or does it form some sort of protective barrier? It is left up to the imagination, which this show could use.
Tumblr media
She flies in and punches out the guards in one freeze frame beatdown, only to immediately get grabbed in the same way. This would be another hint if this kind of inconsistency did not happen to them constantly. All three of them can beat up a Terminator Unicorn in one minute, and then immediately get annihilated by him in the next. It's believable.
Showing some contrast between evil and not-so-evil, Jemmica decides to do one of her other aforementioned tough calls: to hot tail it with the Doom Cube, leaving Buttercup to die as the ice door shuts. Is this the end for Buttercup and her extremely poor judgment...or is it something else?
Tumblr media
It is something else. A big twist happens, and, to not give it away more than that above image does, it happens to be that "sort of twist" I mentioned earlier. The only way it does not come entirely out of nowhere is if you assume that a lot of the problems of this episode are clues to it. I can almost appreciate that, even if it is not intended.
Jemmica escapes using a smoke bomb, which was used as a "running gag" that only happens three times, once with that wild goose. She could still reappear again, and...eh.
Does the title fit?
In the end, Buttercup does manage to do some sort of job, in more ways than one.
How does it stack up?
This episode feels like a Scrooge McDuck adventure done by a cartoon that has issues. The ending is what makes this not a Disgusted for me, but I can't say it was an enjoyable episode.
Tumblr media
The Fly Pow Bye double feature continues at 8 pm, where the Powerpuff Girls burp. Let's say this one was the highlight.
