hi i saw ur post about the ethics slur for sami people and i was just wondering, in your opinion, is it okay to keep calling lap(p)land by that name? or should it only be called sapmi? or is there an other name? (ur obviously not required to answer but i couldnt find anything conclusive online)

ive answered this about a million times on the post itself. Yes the placename makes use of the slur. Any name that uses "l*pp" when talking about Sámi land is using the slur. "L*ppland" or the variant with one p just means "place where the dirty disgusting poor L*pps live". They are describing the place by the slur they use for the people.

Our native name for our land is Sápmi. We are Sámi, we live in Sápmi.

Honestly at this point it would even be better to use the country name. If you mean northern Finland say northern Finland. If you mean Norway say Norway. Our land has been colonized by so many other nations that it truly is splintered in that way.

But if you're talking about Sámi issues and Sámi land, our ancestral grounds are Sápmi.

Occasionally I picture Nightwing calling Red Hood "little wing" in front of others and people looking between this huge, 6'0 feet tall man with growing white hair, and then Nightwing, a shorter man who has flawless skin, probably around his 20's, and a fit but not too buff build and they just- don't know what's happening. I think it would be funny if Shang Qinghua and Shen Qingqiu decided to get married, not for tax purposes per se, but for marriage/sex curse immunity. secretly, of course ;)

why would they do this, you may ask? why wouldn't they? excluding aphrodisiacs, there are plenty of curses and/or magical objects just laying around the SVSSS world just waiting for an unsuspecting Peak Lord to trip over them. And since Shen Qingqiu has decided to travel to see all the worldbuilding and cool flora/fauna he missed out on in the original PIDW, he's dragging Shang Qinghua along with him for the ride. Of course, they would need protection against the more serious afflictions they could catch or be caught by, and getting married was the perfectly logical solution!

and if they ended up getting sex-pollened and needed to rail each other anyway? if they both said no-homo after, then it didn't count! and if they had started to sleep in the same bed and woke up in each other's arms, that's because it's cheaper than getting separate rooms! Who cared that Shang Qinghua started to sleep over at Shen Qingqiu's peak when they were both back at the sect? And brought him gifts and food? And that he reciprocated? They were obviously just hanging out as friends.

And friends are supposed to be affectionate and show care towards each other! They're the only transmigrators in this world, so they need to stick together! Watching the other jerk off can be a bonding activity, you know!

And if Shen Qingqiu noticed one day that they stopped saying no-homo? They already know they aren't gay, so it would be redundant to keep saying it. Carding your fingers through your fake (real) husband's hair while he lays in your lap and complains about the merchant's trying to weasel out of a deal with the sect is completely straight behavior!

so much happened in this whole episode but i’m still on fig infiltrating ruben’s dream, making it look like the place where his friend was murdered, and then disguising herself as kipperlilly & repeatedly saying different variants of “somebody needs to take the fall for this, and it’s not going to be me. it’s going to be you.” while adaine as the elven oracle shows up next to her. can you imagine waking up from that, the idea of a horrible truth being pinned on you by your friend to save her own skin while the personification of fate and destiny stands there, almost as a promise that this is GOING to happen to you. we don’t even know if this kid is guilty. my god.

I once studied American Football- something I never cared for- including positions, titles, plays, and watching games, for weeks in order to write symbolism in a fanfic. I once studied how to play poker, practiced how to count cards, and played Spades more often just so that I could include them in a fic. And I am ass at math.

But if I can do those things, you are perfectly capable of putting in the far more important work and research to depict Black hair textures, including styles and hair care. While there are plenty of resources to lead you in the right direction, there is no bypassing the work and time required. Art as you currently do it took you time to learn- why would this be different?

I feel like I disappoint people on here kinda often when I don't have some link of a massive collection of "how to depict and understand Black hair". You're not just learning hair, you're learning an entire culture, as well as breaking biases you didn't even know you held- ofc it's not going to be an immediate process.

It's worth it. Be willing to commit to your Black characters.
