this is so poignant to me i can't even. + the fact that nino isn't wearing his glasses in the scene on the right as if to say that he is completely blind to the mechanisms of the world he will never be able to escape simply because he exists, but will be labelled equally incapable of ever truly comprehending its scale — in spite of endlessly discussing its impact. talking about the shop owners of naples suddenly proven to be entirely different from encountering them face to face, huh. something incredibly relevant about that.

well it is with a heavy heart that i make this announcement..... longtime lorillee enthusiasts will soon remember what im talking about but its looking like its time to reinstate: LORILLEE SUNDAYS.
for those out of the loop basically this happens every year around the halfway point of the spring semester because i actually need to stop screwing around and lock in, so henceforth until finals are done i will only be online on sundays. SAD!

The act of achieving a goal brings with it grief of an idea you used to fantasize about; bringing it to reality means the loss of a dream. For an emotionally unstable person who used it as the very reason to stay alive, this loss can lead to the creation of far wilder and more deranged dreams to live on. I think this is Eichi's position in the second era, now hungering for more than just recognition and love as an idol. This search for an even greater dream to work towards resulted in the creation of idol colonies, a truly insane and worthy of criticism act. But imo it's not for nothing a big part of fine's stories have involved the unit trying to ground Eichi in the moment, to remind him of his original beliefs and dreams he has achieved, even those of his childhood. I'm critical of this arc as a whole as i dont know what's in store for it and how it'll play out and be framed, but i always do my reading of enstars with attention towards Eichi's mind as a catalyst of action, and see the whole story revolving around him. I am hoping the other characters' concerns and criticisms will manage to get through to him~ my emotionally stunted and unstable, struggling princess, turned cartoon villain...

sorry this is a garbage take from the Clock App but we have to stop pretending art made by terrible people is less meaningful, complicated, or beautiful simply because the artist is not morally unimpeachable.

I've been on an insanity roll working on a beiguang one shot about how they might have met when Beidou was a freshly captained girl in her late teens, and Ningguang was still in the streets as it were. Or running a 'teahouse' if you know what I mean, because I love a sex worker rags to riches tale.
So far I've envisioned this scenario like this: Ningguang falls first but Beidou falls harder. She crashes down like the Jade Palace on Osial once she does fall. In the meanwhile though this is also a they slept together before feelings story because I also love those.
And because in my mind Ningguang then proceeds to play the long game of completely wrapping Beidou around her little finger for the next 30 years until she convinces Beidou that she wants to marry Ningguang. You know, while maintaining the illusion that Beidou came up with the idea all by herself (She did not. She had help, so so much help.)

An open letter to the U.S. Congress
Support S. 3402 / HR 6608, The End Hedge Fund Control of American Homes Act.
123 so far! Help us get to 250 signers!
The housing crisis is devastating communities all across the country, and corporate executives are exploiting it to put more money in their pockets. We shouldn’t allow private equity firms to buy up vast quantities of American homes and create a generation of lifelong renters.  Congress needs to act fast and help promote access to safe, affordable housing and homeownership for American families, not Wall Street.
That’s why I support S. 3402 / HR 6608, The End Hedge Fund Control of American Homes Act. This legislation seeks to put an end to the harmful practice of hedge funds buying up single-family homes by banning hedge funds from owning these types of homes and requiring them to sell at least 10% of the total number of single-family homes they currently own to families per year over a 10-year period. After a 10-year full phase-out, all hedge funds will be completely banned from owning any single-family homes. This legislation will bring down housing prices, giving more families the opportunity to purchase a home and set their families up for a bright future.
I’d like you to co-sponsor and work to pass this vital legislation. Continued Congressional inaction on the housing crisis is unacceptable. Thanks.

Behind F1's Velvet Curtain
This article by Kate Wagner on her INEOS sponsored trip to the Austin GP at COTA last year was commissioned by Road and Track magazine and then taken down. Presumably because Kate has was pretty staunch in her opinions about what was essentially a paid trip.
It is exactly the kind of thing I have wanted to read about the felt experience of the money business of F1. It doesn't get into technicalities and does not produce any spreadsheets for reference. It's just, her experience of the presence of wealth in the sport.
She starts off by talking about how she has been covering cycling and NASCAR for a while now and both of those, in comparison, are scrappier sports with smaller sponsors and cheaper tickets.
What I also especially loved was how fascinated she was with the cars themselves, and how they seem like a true marvel of human engineering. She almost described the cars like these alien beasts that came into this dimension out of nowhere and were being constantly monitored and dueled with to furnish wins and glory (and shareholder value for sponsors).
I think I always had an understanding of the weird myth making surrounding F1 and the kind of media attention it attracts, but someone like Kate (who I have loved reading for a while now) putting it into perspective really made it click for me. This sport thrives off of the kind of cocoon it has built around it and understands exactly the certain exclusiveness it needs to maintain to keep the story alive.
Anyway, give it a read, especially because Road and Track is trying to bury it to not piss off sponsors.
#I think matt oxley was talking about how motogp has been struggling with money and hence dorna is trying to woo the American market#and the american tech sponsors#but bikes don't require as much data driven performance engineering as f1 cars do#Ducati is probably leading the operation in this regard because they have audi behind them#anyway I knew motogp does not produce the same level of wealth but I still decided to check numbers#Marc's net worth is $25Mn and he is arguably the best driver of his generation with enough sponsors behind him#Max's net worth in comparison is $165Mn easily over 6 times that of Marc#Vale's net worth is $200Mn but he is still somewhat of an outlier because his popularity far outweighs that of motogp itself#Lewis is still around $300Mn and he hasn't even retired yet#Schumacher was around $800Mn#I know net worth is a very stupid number to consider but driver net worth is an easy way to translate impact ig#the current Max to Mercedes rumours caused Merc valuation to rise by $11Bn#Billion! 11 of them!#honestly I frequently get desensitized to money just purely as a number because I am exposed to businesses with large valuations but#I still wanted a moment to reconsider how much money rides on this sport#and how that ties to how rich people function#just made me remember that Ocon is the last driver from a working class background#Fernando and Lewis are the only other with working class beginnings and both of them are over 35 and ridiculously talented#its not a sport for regular people to break into#Vale also started with karts and had to shift to bikes#anyway I love Kate Wagner please read this#and talk to me about money and F1#Kate wagner#f1#formula 1#road and track magazine#lewis hamiton#mercedes amg petronas f1 team#Mercedes#INEOS

i think it’s weird that displaying glee at random privileged people dying has become shorthand for how progressive you are, as if it demonstrates a level of enlightenment that is above having empathy for people who hold a level of privilege in the world and therefore are “the bad guys”
i also think it’s weird that freak accidents or instances of death are framed as “justice.” like how does a random billionaire dying lead to a more just and equitable society?
i ALSO think it’s weird that expressing any kind of horror at the circumstances of a privileged person’s death is framed as “simping for billionaires” or some shit. as if a personal emotional reaction to someone’s horrific death and the impact that death would have on loved ones precludes any level of class consciousness
