Supervillains for a community. (Well, except those jerks over in Gotham, insular lot, but they’re they’re one problem) Of course they do- supervillains are a group defined by strong opinions and a willingness to see them through, often with a healthy dash of societal failures and trauma as a catalyst.

The fentons, while not active even on the online message boards, are well known and explosive when they do show up, full of fascinating insights and hours long rants on mad science on hair pin turns courtesy of that ADHD attention span. Bit of the cryptids you feel honored to bump into kind of deal. Besides, like a good quarter of the community as it aged, they’d settled down and had kids (not necessarily in that order) and taken it very seriously! Out in the middle of nowhere, where even the most fearsome government outpost members, the local branch of the IRS, quake before them in fear. Out of the way.

Reveal gone okay-ish, Danny moves to Gotham still to get some air bc now things are Akward and he landed that engineering scholarship which is loads better than any other college would give him with his track record. So- the mysterious Fenton children are finally crawling out of hiding! Everyone is psyched! And roll in to Gotham en masse to witness the fireworks!

Except Danny is Determined To Be Normal. He’s had enough of the throwing himself into harms way shit for a lifetime- he wants to be free to peacefully built Rube Goldberg machines and unintentional increasingly complex bombs to his hearts content. JAZZ, on the other hand- the coveted token Normal One, has finally snapped! She’s watched her baby brother she practically raised throw himself into danger over and over and could do nothing, and now that she’s exposed to this whole network of superheroes outside of small town Amnity, some of those uglier emotions are coming out. And boy is she pissed! And can’t afford to show it much while filing the paperwork to have Arkham legally razed to the ground!

See I love this idea of like, niches in superhero society. A villain the heroes know they can plop their kiddo down with for an exciting afternoon brawl while they take care of a particularly grisly case and come back to a few hours later ranting about some new life lesson and a new move they really want to try. A villain who has a functioning moral compass despite their somewhat batshit long term goal and you can contact to fuck with another villains’s plan so they can laugh at them and you can have an easy afternoon. One who pries up hostile architecture and fills in pot holes, idk man. Get creative here, there’s such potential!

So Jazz becomes a Training villain- someone the heroes know their sidekicks will walk away from in a fight 100% of the time, usually with some new lesson to ponder and only a couple of bruises. Sometimes even snacks!

She also absolutely ambushes mentors to check that they’re worth the kiddo, which they appreciate once they get over being jumped in a dark alley by a 7 foot Amazon trained force of nature. They are not used to being on that side of the jumping, it’s a little unnerving.

(Yes, she low key adopts Shazam upon checking in with him on cursory ‘is the main hero of this city and asshole’ checkin. Yes, the super clones get yoinked out from under Superman’s negligent thumb to go have a blast with Ellie. What about it?)

This however only encourages more assorted weirdos to crawl out of the woodwork. It’s not often one of their own forfeits their potential spot for the running of the coveted Most Normal I Swear prize, but when they do it’s bound to be good! But jazz is off hounding various heroes and punching the faces in of pedophiles and shit whenever there’s no cape within easy reach, and so is a mite bit harder to contact than Danny, who has innocently gotten an apprenticeship under a clockworker for access to their workshop and is gleefully going about doing nerdy shit with great abandon.

Plus this is Gotham. No one gives a shit if someone in the Mad Alchemist uniform and still smoking from their latest experiment pokes their head in a window to bother the local shrimp teen- none of the usual social rules apply, everyone’s crazy here! So everyone drops any and all attempts at masking and just acts their genuine unhinged selves, much to the alarm of the Bats and frustration of Danny.

Bc he cannot get these mfers to go. Away. Even liberal use of the creep stick has little effect when the interloper is calibrated for an opponent with super speed or laser vision or whatever, and he’s trying to maintain his guise as a Normal College Student Do No Investigate.

So he calls in the big guns. He’s not super active in the supervillain kids group chat ever since things in amnity calmed the fuck down post becoming King and then immediately using a loophole that says he will not take the throne until he is grown, as defined by finishing learning his trade a la the medieval standards Pariah set up. So he can just take his sweet ass time with his graduate degree and out of inter dimensional bull shit that much longer! Point is, he hasn’t taken the chance to rant over there in a while, so his Crazy friends are getting a lil worried.

The change to come over and shout at their batshit crazy but (mostly) well meaning parent AND see Danny? Score!

The bats, however, are getting awfully suspicious about this one kid that villains from all over the country are flocking to, especially young and upcoming ones as of recently! And he’s acting his engineering course- all the worst rogues are known to have flown through their PhD studies prior to Cracking. They seem to have a real problem on their hands with this Fenton guy.

Something something about us being shown Eddie developing his cooking skills before buck - that were shown Eddie being able to cook a full meal (and bake) before were shown Buck doing the same thing. And something something about that foreshadowing Eddie having his full feelings realisation before buck.

Eddie’s cooking skills are on display in 5x11 outside looking in when he cooks dinner for buck Chris and Taylor - and he’s baked cupcakes for desert as well.

But we don’t actually get shown buck cooking a full meal until the 6x01 lasagne. He’s only got as far as breakfast foods when he makes Maddie an omelet in 2x04 stuck but we don’t get shown him actively cooking again until he makes the lasagne.

After that its hit and miss on the cooking and baking front for buck - burnt lasagne in a 7 and I’m assuming his baking isnt that great in 8x07 by the way Chim has one bite and then pushes the loaf away before he masters the ziti, garlic bread etc in 807 and then later the scones in 8x08.

I’m not ok, the voices merging into Hydes own thoughts of insecurity is like the people are adapting to the new presence.

They realize this is more of Hyde yet dont have to do much because of how similar Hyde and Jekyll are.

Hydes thoughts of worthlessness are same as Jekylls before the potion and before the split, the feeling of worthlessness and mistake carried on through him.

GUYS GUYSSS THE GAYS!!!!

The stark contrast between mind Lanyon and actual Lanyon is interesting because it makes you wonder how Jekyll got that view of Lanyon in the first place.

Then you also have to consider that in this moment Lanyon is being vulnerable, he’s showing emotion because he truly cares for Hyde and wants to help him, but in university, when Jekyll probably made mind Lanyon because it was who he inspired to be, Lanyon was more closed off, having his walls up.

Lanyons closed off personality has back fired to make Jekyll have him almost becoming this enemy in his mind, someone who he always has to prove himself for when in reality Lanyon just wants him as himself.

Lanyon is showing that he just likes Jekyll for him with how he’s acting with Hyde, almost attempting to undo what he has done with embarrassing him and getting him out of this metaphorical jail of self doubt.

He is worried out if his mind for both of them right now and it would crush him to know that he may be a part of it but he also probably knows deep down that he is a part of it in some ways.

It represents hope, security, and freedom in this moment, Lanyon pulling Hyde out of these thoughts is such an interesting story method and this will probably be what keeps Hyde from going to deep.

Lanyons hope will pull Hyde back if he needs to, Hyde wont get trapped in the mind (hopefully) if Lanyon is there and this is going to help Jekyll too.

Knowing that Lanyon is still there despite everything may help Jekyll, and having the proof of it will especially be great and this will probably be a big part in how to save Jekyll.

He looks crazy and I’m all for it, finally fighting back instead of giving in, like he’s done over and over again, he’s sick of it and wont take it anymore.

“I dont hold this against you” now it is possible that Hyde is just joking but I wouldn’t be surprised if he holds it against Jekyll because they are his creations, everything they say and how they act is what Jekyll has thought up.

Yes, they are based on people in his life but they’re his interpretation of what they think of him. He doesn’t really know what they think but he’s scared of what it could be. (He’s so me guys/hj) but for real, i can relate to the mind people in Jekylls head.

I can think of times when ive put thoughts of what other people may think about me in my head even if it’s not true, im sure many people have had something similar to jekyll’s mind people. What Jekyll has made is a real thing put to a story and it feels interesting to see.

If Hyde squares up with the mind people though that would be pretty cool to see, finally working through the self doubting thoughts even if it is through a violent manner

Still Alive (But Barely Breathing)

If someone had told Red Hood that he was going to climb through the wrong window at one of his many safe houses, he’d have laughed and flipped them off. Not just because it probably would have been the Demon Brat saying it and disregarding the little fucker would certainly get under his skin. And piss off Bruce. No. Jason was definitely too careful to make a mistake like that.

Well, until tonight.

To be fair, he had been shot. Twice. A through and through in his side, hopefully not damaging anything important, and once in the arm. But that might’ve been a graze. Going by pain, it hurt less than his side. Somewhere between “I need a bandaid” and “stepping on an infinite number of Legos with sharp teeth” on the pain scale. Honestly, he didn’t even want to look until he was safe. It’s not a problem if I can’t see it. And he was currently not safe judging by the sword the resident of this apartment held at his throat.

The first thing he noted was that she wasn’t afraid. In fact, she seemed hella pissed. Her beautiful blue eyes flashed in the moonlight. Most people, when they saw the helmet, along with his stature (Dickface said he was built like a tank) and intimidating presence, well, they got a little scared. This woman stood resolute, calm and determined in the face of danger. She had the presence of an Amazonian warrior. Now, Jason wasn’t much of a betting man, but he’d have put money down on her winning this fight.

Too many voices were vying for dominance in his mind. A part of him thought that if he could get the sword away from his throat, he stood a fighting chance of getting away. Another part considered his injuries. He was lightheaded already which was not a good sign. He needed to get out of here and get help fast. Another part geeked out over the sword. It was exquisite. This woman really had taste. The ornate filigree handle looked like a Swiss rapier, circa late 1600s. But the blade was not fragile like a rapier. In fact, it looked more like a sturdy longsword. Like she had taken pieces of history and meshed them together to create a sword that was beautiful but deadly. Another very small voice thought she was beautiful. He tried to ignore the last one it definitely wouldn’t help him here and hatch a plan to escape. She stepped further into the moonlight and all thoughts flew out of his head. He could have sworn her eyes were ice blue. Now they were a familiar bright green; practically glowing. Where had he seen that color before?

Trying to think made his head all fuzzy. Oh well. Time for some introductions. He felt like a seasoned warrior out to meet a new friend or foe. Attempting to speak felt like an impossible task.

“Hi.” He choked out, his voice gravelly and menacing with the helmet on.

“Hi Mister Red Hood!” A boy’s voice rang out from behind the woman. Oh shit. There was a kid. How did he not see a kid? Why was there a kid here?! He glanced around and noticed the sparse furniture along with a few moving boxes stacked in the corner. He… did he have the wrong apartment? This was his safe house in the Narrows. As far as he knew, no one lived on his floor or in the apartments above or below his. That’s what made this safe house perfect. It was convenient. It was safe.

The woman whispered something to the boy. He couldn’t tell if the words she spoke in a foreign yet all too familiar language were what made his blood run cold. Or the rapid blood loss was getting to him. Right. He needed help. Now. That forced him back into focus. He could feel his thoughts slowly slipping away. He grabbed onto the edge of the windowsill he’d just climbed through, grunting in pain at the sudden gush of blood coming from his side.

The woman tentatively lowered her sword, concern etched on her face. Good. This was good. He was… what was he doing? A wave of dizziness washed over him and he fell backward onto the floor. Black started forming around the edges of his vision. The woman rushed to his side and leaned over him. Her touch was light as she quickly assessed his wounds. Her hair enveloped his vision, so all he could see was her beautiful face. She was talking to him, face to face, er well, helmet, but he couldn’t hear her. Her voice distorted and muffled.

His last thought was, “Damn she’s pretty.” Before succumbing to sleep.

And happy (sort of) birthday to this blog! 🎂

So it’s not my blog’s official birthday (I think that was a few weeks ago) but today is officially one year since I made my first post sharing a drawing of my MC. I’d never properly engaged in fandom before (I was on tumblr in my teens but was too scared to actually interact with anyone or anything 😅) but I’m so glad that I decided to take the plunge this time and do it.

I’m very grateful to this game for inspiring me to go back to art after such a long break. I didn’t realise how much I’d missed it until I started again and how important having a creative outlet is for winding down at the end of the day. I’ve also enjoyed having little goals and projects to work on, and having more of a sense of purpose and direction with my free time. I know I’ve still got work to do, but I’m proud of the progress I’ve made so far and I’m excited to see where I might be in another year.

But more importantly, I’m grateful to have met some really wonderful people through this fandom. Brain-rotting over the game and characters, as well as other things, has genuinely been one of the highlights of my year and I’m very lucky to be surrounded by such inspiring and talented people.

And finally, I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone here! To the artists for putting out some beautiful pieces and inspiring me to keep improving, to the writers for putting out some amazing fics and basically keeping me entertained for a whole year, and to everyone that’s still around and keeping this fandom going! ❤️ fingers crossed this year, we’ll get some proper news on the sequel!

I wanted to share the tattoo I did yesterday!!

I really enjoyed the process🥹🫶 My “normal” art is generally a lot more detailed and time-consuming than these fanarts…something I genuinely LOVE is just spending lots of time focusing on the small details & forgetting everything else.

I’m overall really happy with how this turned out, I’ve been practicing A LOT😳 but even so, pork skin isn’t the same as a living, breathing human. I think this design might have been a BIT too complicated to be my first one but oh well…I learned a lot and pushing myself off the deep end is always how I learn best😆😆😤🙏
