This is how to restore degraded and eroded desert landscapes into thriving ecosystems at large scale! Drought, flooding and wildfires are all problem people around the world are facing and it all comes down to water. However it doesn't have to be this way, there's actually a solution that benefits the environment and has the ability to regulate your local climate for the better! All thanks to Florence 17,000 hectares of land have been restored in the desert at the regenerative ranch called Rancho Cacachillas.

Today marks two weeks of using my OSEA Gua Sha tool. I have been changing my habits to become healthier during this time and they are all things I have done before, so I know what results I usually get without Gua Sha.
Here are the results I've seen with Gua Sha, but not without:
Glowing skin (it looks bright even when I get little sleep, which usually dulls my skin)
Removed dark circles and puffiness under the eyes (I didn't notice this myself, but when my bf brought it up I was pleasantly surprised)
Clear sinuses (I was often congested)
Reduced puffiness/water retention/inflammatin in the face and neck (the back of my neck is an area I focus on and I cannot believe the difference it makes)
Improved Premenstrual Syndrome (no symptoms at all)
A raise in my energy levels
More restful sleep
Improved chest acne (my chest is clear at the moment)
Improved mood (immediately following a Gua Sha session I feel very relaxed and my mood is positive)
Smooth lymph nodes (they were quite bumpy before, probably due to congestion)
I want to drink every drop of water around me (my blood sugars are fine, but for some reason I really want to hydrate)
Note: I do a PMS routine every 3 days and a daily face, neck, chest routine.

It’s okay 😂 I read it as “vegetation.” Also love the cool info.
This is actually a really interesting type of water retention that long grass does that I've never thought about before!
You can see how much slower the snow on the long grass is melting, which creates a slower percolation of water into the ground!
It's amazing what a difference vegetation can make for communities that struggle with drought conditions!

How has Alsta Hydrogel ensured maximum crop growth and profitability for farmers
Alsta Hydrogel, a potassium polyacrylate-based super absorbent polymer, is designed to support sustainable farming by improving water retention and soil health. The polymer can absorb up to 300-500 times its weight in water and release it gradually as crops need it, ensuring consistent moisture even in dry conditions. Here’s how Alsta Hydrogel directly supports farmers' profitability and revenue growth.
Chemtex Speciality Limited manufactures "Alsta Hydrogel" as a basic, simple to use, environment friendly polymer based on potassium polyacrylate that farmers can successfully use to decrease water utilization without compromising on plant’s health and growth and yet yield rich green harvests even in dry spell conditions.

In 2018, Justdiggit and the LEAD Foundation worked with the village to transform a barren 50-acre test site, digging a network of semi-circular bunds with a raised perimeter around a shallow trench, into which seeds were sown. The bunds, roughly five meters by two meters large, were laid in an overlapping fish scale pattern with their depression facing uphill to capture rainwater flowing off the land, slowing its movement and allowing it to penetrate the earth. (source)
The design and function is similar to swales and african planting pits

Did you know that soil is home to 60% of all species on Earth?
Soil is vital for plant growth, supports biodiversity, filters water, and keeps ecosystems balanced. But in Kenya, worsening droughts have left the soil damaged and dry, threatening both nature and local communities.
In our 20th Planet Wild mission, we're supporting a surprisingly simple method to help transform these barren lands into thriving ecosystems.
A special thanks to Dr. Rob Thompson / University of Reading for providing us with additional footage.

Survival on land poses some serious challenges to terrestrial plants; foremost among these challenges is the need to acquire and retain water.

Late night wishful thinking but like
I think planting funky things around retention ponds should be more normalized!!
Like okay I get it retention ponds are meant to hold the runoff water from parking lots and drive throughs and the like so they aren’t exactly the cleanest water around. But like!!! Maybe this is different in other areas, but the only plants I ever see grow around retention ponds are cattails!! Which, like, are fine and great and dandy lets go cattails, but like
Where’s the whimsy?? Where are the flowers?? If I’ve got to see retention ponds whenever I go to a store or drive down the highway or pick up food for my mom, at least bring in some flowers!!
And it’ll benefit so much! A wider variety of plants can make it a more welcoming home to wildlife! Maybe the plants will filter some of the runoff stuff and the water can then be nicer for even more wildlife! Maybe the flowers can be a nice food source for butterflies and bees on their journeys and day trips!! And humans like seeing things be pretty!
Maybe its easier said than done! Maybe most places already do this and its just my city or state that doesn’t really I’d be willing to believe that! But lets get some color in these goddamn retention ponds!!
Swamp milkweed! Aquatic milkweed! Pickerelweed! Water lilies! Irises! Cardinalflower! Fuck it, put some goddamn duckweed in there!! Get some color in those things or so help me!!
#out of queue#ani rambles#solarpunk#gardening#pond gardening#‘ani why not just guerrilla garden in the retention ponds’ im not THAT good at starting plants#and ive yet to have success guerrilla gardening as is!!!#i think there should be like a volunteer group that just rocks up like ‘hey we’ll make your retention pond bomb as fuck and still functional#FOR FREE. and we can start next saturday!!!#also SOMEONE MANAGE THE INVASIVE PLANTS AROUND RETENTION PONDS!!!!#i saw a pond that I was 60% positive was surrounded by callery pear trees#i couldnt be 100% sure because I was actively driving but yknow!!!#‘oh all the water drains to here lets put a pond there to hold the draining water’ THATS HABITAT NOW#CARE FOR THE HABITAT YOUVE CREATED#YES I KNOW THIS IS A POND IN A WALMART PARKING LOT I DONT CARE. WHATS GOING ON IN THERE. BEAUTIFY IT#‘ani why dont you start the group’ idk much about growing aquatic/wetland plants#maybe ill bring it up if i ever go to a florida native plant society meeting who knows#its 1:30 am gnight
