Walking adventures pt 1
3/23/24
First walk outside of working out!
It was nice but I'm an overachiever so instead of just going for a nice chill walk, I practiced proper form for running. You're supposed to lean forward instead of swinging your legs out. You can do this with walking too so I practiced that for the most of my walk then ran the last part back to my apartment.
It was so much easier to run that way. Like it was easier to just keep running then it was to stop.
Don't get me wrong. It still SUCKED but it felt better like I was doing it right this time. My lungs and heart felt like the weak point instead of my legs or knees.
It is so hard for me to BREATH while running and my heart always feels like it's trying to beat its way out of my chest. And it takes a long time for my heartbeat to slow down again after I stop. Like it's been like 8 minutes and it's still beating faster and harder than normal.
But my legs feel great. Tired but great. They didn't buckle at all!

had to pull out the whole "we're not friendly!" because Snowball Who Can Stare Down Death decided she wanted to say hai and the old guy walking her decided to let her.
he was nice about it but I have told him before we're not friendly (i think even in the same spot..) its just frustrating that he blocks off the one spot we want to go and forces me to say something lmao.
its a dead end street too so it's not like I could go around him! Sally was good but I did scoop her up because at that point it was just easier because Snowball would not stop staring!! that thing did not look friendly it had such stiff posture and Sally gets personally insulted by that.

Arranged my list of walks to do/walks done into a little list categorised by area, which makes my autistic brain so happy! I've done 14 different walks this year, as well as repeating a few!

One of my favorite high stakes walking games is “is that someone smoking weed or is there a skunk nearby?”
Usually I get it right, a skunk who sprayed is a whole other level of pungent than a group of stoner teenagers. But there have definitely been moments where I guessed wrong and had to quickly vacate an area before the startled beastie completed its toxic handstand.

City of Tears. But Mini.
I wanted to make an atmospheric art piece with Dewi. And the City of Tears is one of the most sorrowing, beautiful, and grand places to do that. This is a lot of firsts for me regarding the architecture and lighting. The shadows cover a lot, and it may have been too much. I'm happy with how it turned out tho.
No idea how Dewi found his way into the City. Probably magic. Probably plot too :) But oh boy, he is experiencing childlike wonder in his raincoat!
This is a better show of the line detail I needlessly covered up in the final lol

Simon Petrikov really is the dad of all time.
Continuing my Adventure Time binge and I got to the Gunter/Orgalorg bits. Ice King took this horrible, cruel alien menace who's been seeking ultimate power for millennia and loved him, cuddled him, disciplined him (sometimes undeservedly) and overall sucked him into his deluded family unit. He did this for so long that when Gunter finally was given a chance for ultimate power -via the wishing crown - he chose instead to become Ice Thing. To become like his dad.
Simon dadded so hard that he turned two eldritch beings with capacity for immense destruction into daddies girls.

I enjoy doing long zone out walks, but once faced a problem where I went from a very walkable area to one that wasn’t designed for pedestrians. The area was sandwiched by some really busy roads and while crossing them was theoretically possible the way people drove on them made it a game of automobile roulette.
But what the area did have was a fairly large graveyard that was open until sunset, so that’s usually where I would go. I’d put my earbuds in and walk around, giving wide space to any genuine mourners so they didn’t have to see some dingus listening to Aqua or whatever. It was actually interesting reading the gravestones and in a weird way connecting with the history of an area. Also some truly fantastic names have been lost to history.
The problem was the whole “closing at sunset” thing. I hate the heat so during the summer those walks came pretty late in the day. One time I picked pushed my luck too far and got locked in the graveyard. There were options out, but the one that seemed easiest at the time was going out under the gate. The gap wasn’t super big but I could easily belly crawl under it without it being too tight a fit.
But even at that time it was still a busy road, so a bunch of cars slowed down to watch as I wriggled my way out of graveyard. Pretty sure it was situations like these that killed off any remaining sense of shame that I had.
