I'm going to share a snippet from Waking into Divinity. I am still currently reworking the story so I am not so sure what I am sharing will survive the cuts I plan to make to the story. But that's writing a first draft for ya!

And he was their soulmate. Tal'rith, he had called it. An alien term for a fantasy Rylie could not bare to even dream about.

A small, broken chuckle spilled from between their lips. "Man. I can even fuck up destiny and magic bonds now."

Without another word, Rylie allowed their meandering thoughts to come, then be discarded, as they shut off the water and stepped out of the shower.

They could always admit their lie. Admit to their wrongdoing. Admit to Casrath what they really felt. But Rylie did not know Casrath well enough to gauge any sort of reaction. Would he forgive them? Would he understand? Or would he be disappointed and disgusted in them?

Would he toss them away in the face of the truth? Would he turn from the ugliness inside Rylie, discarding them like a plucked rose petal?

Rylie bit their lip and wrapped themself up in a fluffy towel. Without glancing in the mirror, Rylie snatched their toothbrush and aggressively brushed their teeth.

They were meant to be together. To be a perfect mirror of one another. Like the endless dance of the sun and moon. The push and pull between the moon and the tides. It was magic, Casrath had said.

And although Rylie held no belief in higher powers, the proof of magic had been laid bare at their feet. But everything was fallible in their mind. Especially things that had the most power.

If Rylie could cast aside God. The Bible. All their lessons that had been drilled into their brain. Then certainly magic could be cast aside too. After all, what if someone did not want their soulmate?

Mr. Ricco Maestro is Specter's boss and one of the antagonists for the story. He is an ogre who pretends to be an orc.

Specter is our main character and is shipped with Dragoon!

Dragoon lives inside a giant nano suit that is shaped like that of a bipedal dragon. His real appearance is unknown to everyone.

Mark is a side character. He is a charmbreaker; someone who specializes in both casting and destroying charm magic.

Dottie is an android who works for Dragoon.

I am NOT Phoenix.

I have nothing to gain by lying to anyone about who I am. Using your own condition as an excuse to justify such low behaviour is UNACCEPTABLE. I should know. I have Aspergers Syndrome so things like Jokes and Sarcasm are hard for me to pick up, and I am very easily prone to not realizing what I've said until after I've said it.

Come on. I can handle the anon hate because I've fucking dealt with it. When I tried making a Genshin Sideblog as a character whilst I was getting into the game, as @/mondstadt-librarian, the whole community practically wanted me gone. So I ended up complying and nuked that blog, and unfollowed everyone from that fandom who had followed me there, severing all ties.

Now tell me, with that in mind, why the fuck would I want to get removed from another RPC?

UH OH I've been tricked! I'm gonna share a (longish) snippet from the first draft of Waking into Divinity!

For some context: Rylie is a human who is soulmates (called tal'rith) with a demon known as Casrath. The bond ignites when the two touch and gives both parties feelings of what the bond could become.

“Unfortunately, you did not have your mind with you at the time. Do you remember how you felt when I touched you?” 

Rylie froze, their brain working overtime to both recall every detail of that night and beat it back with a broom at the same time. Of course they recalled how they felt, drunk out of their mind or not. It was the one point of clarity they had. Perhaps not Casrath in his entirety, but how they felt to have his arms wrapped around their waist, holding them steady. 

Horny would be an understatement. Rylie had never felt so needy and so sexy simultaneously in their entire life as they were in that moment. Desire so strong, so mind-numbing and powerful, it had flooded them with ecstasy so potent they recalled nothing else afterward. The mere idea of that desire had knocked them flat on their ass. 

And although Rylie suspected the booze didn’t help at the time, they doubted the experience would have been any different if they were sober. 

Desire was a bad word. A naughty word. A word that meant glares from their preacher, lifted lips of disgust from their mother and the rest of the PTA moms, and embarrassment from their father so strong it made him flee to a different room. 

For Rylie, it was a word stronger than belief even. 

But despite its connotations, the desire that had flowed through their veins as a wildfire did forest, was not entirely sexual. No, there was more to it. It was textured, filled with wants that had echoed through them all their life. 

Rylie’s knee jerk reaction would be to call it love. And although they wished for a taste of unbridled love, what came with it had them crying and begging. It wasn’t just love they needed. 

No, what they felt in that moment was acceptance. Acceptance for their thoughts. Their wants. Their needs. Acceptance for who they are, who they would become, and acceptance for the parts of themself even they couldn’t accept at the moment.

could you help explain something? when alecto surfaces in nona and scolds pyrrha for "playing mother and father" and insists that she should have eaten them - "i would have respected you much more for it" - what did she mean? as in, she shouldn't have gotten caught up in the sixth's business, and instead abandoned them to boe and go to the half-flipped moon by herself? or am i missing something??

OH I LOVE THAT PART. I also have no clue! It's such a punchy passage, but I have no idea of what it could possibly mean. "Eating someone" in TLT is mostly associated with Lyctorhood, in the sense of consumption, but I doubt that's what Alecto is referring to, since she's talking specifically to Pyrrha.

Or, like you suggest, she could simply be using "eating" as a shorthand for 'take advantage of' — it fits with whatever little we get of Alecto's vocabulary and thought patterns — and saying that she should've just looked after herself and left, instead of dedicating herself to a lost cause.

I also have no clue if when she says "US" she means Nona + Cam and Pal, or she means herself (Alecto + Nona and all her disjointed memories) or she means Alecto and whatever soul fragment is inside her (personally, I believe that a bit of Gideon's soul is inside Harrow's body.) Or she could even be saying "US" to mean herself and Varun as Resurrection Beasts, though that's less likely.

I think you're probably right and she's just using a very carnal metaphor to say that Pyrrha should have left, but like... I'm not ruling out that there's a more literal explanation that will introduce a new worldbuilding / "magical system" related element in AtN, just because I never know what to expect from this series. I'm once again so fascinated by the glimpses that we get of Alecto's personality because she's such an enigma.
