Yibo is a straight man who has publicly stated countless times he’s a straight man, and he has denied cp countless times since 2019. So he’d never address a gay rumor lol. Not only would that be shameful but it would bring unnecessary and unwanted attention to him especially in a largely homophobic country like China and it’s government. As for xiao zhan he will continue leeching on Yibo because while the former’s career has stalled since 2020, Yibo continues to go higher and higher and make a name for himself in every industry that interests him (film, dance, racing, fashion, skateboarding, motorcycle, etc.). Maybe you dirty turtles will finally wake up when one of them gets married? Although it’s well known that xiao zhan is currently dating his jingjing manager. <3
I see what you're trying to do here, solo fan 🏍️Thanks for dropping by ☺️
I bet you know everything about xiao zhan, I guess? 🤔 Do you know him personally? Otherwise, you won't be spreading hate against him confidently here.
I don't have issue with solo fan. Solo fan have all my respect as long as you don't incite & encourage hatred in society.
Xz leeches on wyb? You got it wrong. They are mutually leeching on each other 🤣
No offense but your fav doesn't even know you exist. Why bother to be useless keyboard warrior? I hope you will be sued for your hateful comments one day 🫶🏻
"Yibo has publicly stated countless time he's a straight man" - he did mention this before. However, no one in their right mind will come out publicly & announce "well, actually- not really."
He's a public figure. I'll use back your word -especially in a largely homophobic country like China. Why need to self-destruct?
Personally, let me repeat this again, in my personal opinion, wyb doesn't like guy in general but xz is an exception.
I don't know if yibo is a straight guy or was a straight guy & I can neither confirm nor deny anything. Only yibo knows the truth behind his words.
Yibo: hey, I'm a straight man too.
Also yibo: 🤝🏻🫰🏻☺️😘😛😉👀 at xz. Shamelessly say I love you.
Yibo's double standard can be seen clearly when it comes to xz. What an extreme way to tease a friend. I see.
If you can't watch xz, it's ok. Just focus on yibo. Especially his eyes cos eyes never lie.
As for xz- he can date whoever he wants to. I don't own him. I don't have any right to decide on it.
Once again, I will never know for sure if yizhan is a real thing. I'm not their parent or family or close friend. There's no way- me, as a mere fan knows 100% what is real and what is not.
Some 🐢 say they will be seen together in public in 2026. To be honest, I don't even trust that 2026 prediction 😂
For me, let's say they aren't together now, at least, at some point, they did have a crush on each other esp yibo. He's wearing his heart on his sleeve 😂
Their happiness is everything. Whether they end up together or with someone else. It's their life.
That's how I see it and it's plenty enough for me. However, I've made a choice to believe that both of them are doing fine & their relationship is still going strong until today.
On what basis?
Actually, they don't have to prove to the world if they are in relationship. Somehow, they kindly leave some hidden traces to decipher from time to time. It's still ongoing.
Call it what you want. Throwing 🍬 or fanservice or leeching onto one another 🤷🏻‍♀️
Thought solo fans dont trust 🍬 ? Then please don't make fuss out of them. Let us, the dirty 🐢 enjoy & make a fool of ourselves.
Again, either one of them gets married to someone else or marry each other or never marry at all. It doesn't have anything to do with you. Your approval or your words mean nothing.
Don't act like you are the mighty one. Acting like you are on the 'right side'.
So please. Don't say to others to wake up.
You. Please. Wake up first.
We are just an unknown fan.

Wang Yibo’s “Popular Films” interview feature:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why do everyone keep talking about Al Pacino's performance in "The Godfather"? It's really like the blooming of a second life that will last forever. This is probably what makes me like movies more and more. I watched a movie before, and there was a line I liked very much that seemed to say: Some movies end the moment the screen lights up, and some movies will last forever. Well, good movies will last forever. , this is also what I think is very charming about a movie.
👨: Welcome Yibo! Congratulations on your nomination!
WYB: thanks, thanks!
👨: Speaking of which, "Popular Movies" had a relatively detailed report on "Hidden Blade" in the second issue of 2023.
WYB: Ah yes, I know. I read that article.
👨: How well do you think the author understood it?
WYB: I think there is no such thing as a standard! Because everyone has a different story and a different perspective on things, so everyone has their own understanding. This is what I think is the most interesting thing about the movie.
👨: We also made detailed reports on the subsequent "Born to Fly" and "One and Only", but we did not conduct interviews at the time. Now let's talk briefly about them in order of release date from near to far!
WYB: Okay, okay!
👨: First up is "One and Only". The protagonist of this film is a hip-hop boy, which should be in your Comfort Zone Is this role relatively easy to play?
WYB: I think it is my comfort zone when it comes to dance. In terms of performance, it will indeed be similar to my childhood experience. I may understand the dancers better and get into the role better, so it will be closer, but I think there is no easy role.
👨: This script was written after the director negotiated with you to star in it, right?
WYB: Yes, the director was also making changes and additions in the middle. The script he received at the beginning was also different from the final result.
👨: There is a lot of dancing in this film. Did you participate in the choreography?
WYB: Because this type of dance is quite special, it is not danced while standing on the ground. There are many techniques in breaking. Although I know hip-hop very well, I cannot completely execute the technique part by myself, so I do have my own idea, but the choreographer didn’t participate.
👨: After the choreographer completed the choreography, did you propose any changes when communicating with them?
WYB: Maybe you have, yes, because sometimes when you jump by yourself, you may wish that here, eh, would it be better to use this action? Well, it is a process of continuous improvement.
👨: It's very interesting. You and Director Dapeng got along as actors in "Hidden Blade" and as directors and actors in "Hidden Blade". Is there a big difference in the way of getting along with each other?
WYB: There is indeed a big difference, because in "Hidden Blade" I had less contact with director Dapeng, and we did not have any direct scenes together. We only appeared together in the group scenes of eating and holding umbrellas at funerals. In that very serious creation. There is also less communication in the environment. But when we collaborated on "One and Only" later, Director Dapeng seemed like a different person, very lively and happy.
👨: "One and Only" has a comedy atmosphere, while "Hidden Blade" is very serious, even a little sad, so I think your personal temperament is closer to "Hidden Blade"...
WYB: Thanks!
👨: So how did you develop your comedy performance in "One and Only"?
WYB: I feel that I was not responsible for the comedy part in "One and Only". Chen Shuo is more like an innocent, serious and hard-working young man. Yue Yunpeng laoshi or Xiao Shenyang laoshi are responsible for the comedy part.
👨: But there are also some scenes where everyone will have fun together after just one sentence...
WYB: oh?
👨: For example, "Just show respect!"
WYB: Ah, hahaha, yes. These jokes were thought up by the director and screenwriting teacher. I told them based on the upright and innocent feeling of the character. Maybe the contrast coupled with this word will make the effect more comedic.
👨: Although there are not many lines like this, the impression is quite deep.
WYB: Thanks!
👨: Generally speaking, when an actor completes a role, he will have certain emotions for this role. So when you leave Chen Shuo, what kind of feelings do you have for him, and what do you hope his life will be like in the future?
WYB: After the movie "One and Only" was completed, I still remember it very fondly. Yes, because it is more like my experience as a child. When I was a child, I insisted on dancing when I was a child, and it was because of dancing that I became a star or an actor. So I am very happy that Chen Shuo has such a perfect ending. I hope he will have a smooth sailing future and win more championships.
👨: Okay, now let’s talk about “King of the Sky”. Director Liu Xiaoshi said it’s very important for you to get the script, you quickly decided to star in the role. Was it the subject matter that moved you?
WYB: It is indeed a script like "The King of the Sky". Many of the lines are really touching, and it is also hard to resist such military themes and test pilot themes.
👨: Do you have a military complex?
WYB: I think I am quite passionate inside.
👨: This film was shot in the Northwest for a long time. During the process, I knew that there was some training, and it was also quite difficult. The Northwest is windy, sandy, and cold.So what do you think is the most difficult thing?
WYB: Well…………I think this is really after getting involved, I don’t think it is a difficult thing, because everyone is working hard in the same direction, maybe I will feel tired at the time, or It was quite bitter, so what, but when I look back and think about it - I am this kind of person - if I look back and think about the things I have done, I won't think it was anything, it was not a big deal. Although the shooting time is so long, this allows the actors to focus more on delving into the knowledge of various aircraft, because this still takes time to understand.
👨: Mr. Hu Jun was also nominated for the Golden Rooster Award for Best Supporting Actor for this film. Did you congratulate each other?
WYB: Yes, yes, I was congratulating him just now during the ceremony.
👨: He has played many soldiers, and I think he is very familiar with this temperament...
WYB: Yes, Hu Jun laoshihas acted in "Flying Leopard" before and is also a pilot.
👨: He is the captain in the movie, leading you young test pilots to fight. Watch the behind- the-scenes and he often teaches you acting outside the play?
WYB: Yes, he is like a big brother. He takes us to exercise and eat together, and sometimes we will talk about the script and each character together on set. Jun ge is very good at taking care of people, because there are seven people in our team. It’s not just me. In fact, Jun ge has also been taking care of other young actors.
👨: Your team is quite united.
WYB: Yes, because they are all boys, they like sports, and they all havesimilar interests.
👨: I would like to interject, if you really go for the pilot selection, is it possible to pass?
WYB: It may be very difficult, mainly because the physical quality is too high. I’d better treat myself as an actor first (laughs).
👨: It is both the main theme and commercial quality. We feel that "Born to Fly" has exceeded our expectations. How did it feel when you saw the finished film? Because there were no special effects when you shot it? ?
WYB: Actually, when I started running the road show, I hadn’t gone to the cinema to watch it because of time constraints. Then I remembered whether it was in Guangzhou or somewhere, so I went to the theater to watch it. The visual effects, sound effects, and the whole thing were really like those in a theater. The special effects are really shocking. I didn’t expect that the visual effects of fighter jets in the air could be made like this. I didn’t expect that some high-altitude movements of airplanes and unknown movements of the aircraft could be explained and presented on the big screen like this.
👨: Also, what do you think of Lei Yu’s future?
WYB: He will definitely go in the direction of Captain Zhang Ting, but he must be a new generation of young test pilots. Captain Zhang Ting also said before that every generation of test pilots is different, and theoretical knowledge like Lei Yu It will be more solid and the flying skills will be better.
👨: Director Cheng Er said that when he sees you ordering and putting on those costumes, he feels like the characters in his original novel or script have become different. So when did you feel that you were Mr. Ye?
WYB: When I tried makeup for the first time, I had never tried makeup and styling like that before. It felt like I was in another time and space. Such styling and clothing helped me instantly connect with this character. Then I think it was through the lines between the opposing actors and the communication with the director - because everyone knows the director's script, they will add it part by part, and as the filming process progresses, it will gradually become more and more complete. The more I get to know this character, the more I am immersed in it, and the more skillfully I perform.
👨: Director Cheng Er said that you have sufficient training. What does this training include?
WYB: I also trained in advance before shooting, and went to watch some movies specifically. For example, the director took me to watch "The Godfather" Parts 1, 2, and 3 again, as well as "Pulp Fiction", "Inglourious Basterds" and so on, and maybe more It’s some pull tabs on performance status. Then there is also some training such as lines, including action training.
👨: Director Cheng Er himself said that many scenes are left to you to express yourself freely.
WYB: Well, sometimes there are. Sometimes the director will tell me his idea first, and then I will act it out again, and then make adjustments; sometimes the director will give me a framework, that is, how to do it in this environment, and then you will You think about what you want to do, and if you think it's OK, we'll start shooting.
👨: Oh, it turns out this is such a process.
WYB: Yes, yes, he is very detailed in some aspects and very open in others. For example, the previous process is a detailed communication, telling me carefully that you can take off your clothes first, then take off your tie, and then change; or if you feel comfortable, you can also take off your tie first—— I'm just making an analogy - take off your clothes again. But sometimes, they will tell me the situation, and then let me think about how to do it, and then shoot after I have thought about it. Give it a big framework, yes, and it contains your freedom.
👨: What impressed you most during the filming of "Unknown"? Which scene do you remember the most NG?
WYB: Actually, not long after I started making movies, I was selected by director Cheng Er, and it was a very important role, so I had a very deep impression on the filming. One reason is that the director is used to shooting at night, or he feels that shooting at night is more exciting. Most of our shooting starts at 6 pm and ends at 6 am the next day. This highly concentrated and tiring way of working is really rare to experience! And then I failed a few times... The director is very, very serious and very meticulous. Maybe during the filming process, wefilmed a lot of scenes, well, we just found the best ones through reshooting over and over again.
👨: Especially that one-shot fight scene?
WYB: Oh, yes, that is also rehearsed in advance. You get those cardboard boxes in advance, roughly arrange a scene, and then practice and play until the official shooting.
👨: I remember director Cheng Er said that he shot more than 30 takes, and he used the second to last take.
WYB: Maybe, but I can’t remember clearly, because I could only take five or six pictures a day, and it took a week. The director will be more aware when editing.
👨: So Director Cheng Er said you have enough patience?
WYB: I personally think that when doing something you like, no matter how big the difficulty is, it may not be a difficulty, so you can just keep doing it. Maybe this is the aspect of patience that the director is talking about.
👨: Speaking of language talent, Director Cheng Er has repeatedly praised you. Is that because you have this talent and it doesn’t take much effort to learn these dialects or foreign languages?
WYB: Well, I think on the one hand it's okay and not too strenuous, and on the other hand I think my own lines are not that good, so maybe I will feel more confident when speaking a language that I am not familiar with.
👨: Many viewers commented that your Japanese is not only fluent, but also that your tone is full.
WYB: Well, the crew has a dedicated Japanese teacher who will give me a video with the corresponding Chinese characters and Japanese, so I listen and watch at the same time, and I am also imitating his tone, because the Japanese teacher actually helped me perform and speak the Japanese intonation and tone, so I tried my best to imitate it.
👨: The eye scenes, fighting scenes and the use of multiple languages in "Hidden Blade", which part do you think is the most difficult?
WYB: I think it's the eyes, because maybe I haven't trained my eyes like this before. In addition, "Hidden adr" does have a lot of eye scenes, so I think eye scenes are quite difficult. In addition, sometimes I have to act opposite Mr. Liang, which makes me very nervous and under a lot of pressure.
👨: How did you overcome this pressure later?
WYB: Prepare in advance and have a lot of rehearsals.
👨: You said that Mr. Ye is a very bitter person. If the plot continues, Director Cheng Er will most likely arrange a tragic ending for him. Putting aside the director's settings, what do you hope Mr. Ye's ending will be?
WYB: I think it may be difficult to have a happy ending. He lived in that era and in that working environment, but he did not leave. I hope that in his spy career, he can achieve his goals, complete his work, and escape unscathed. Well, how should I put it, be safe!
👨: Out of 10 points, how would you rate Mr. Ye's performance?
WYB: (Laughs) I think it might be a little higher than a passing grade!
👨: 7 points, 8 points?
WYB: If the full score is 10 points.
👨: We’ve just talked about three movies. Do you want to drink some water and take a break?
WYB: It's okay, it's okay, it's okay.
👨: It is very rare for a new actor to have three starring movies released in one year!
WYB: Thanks!
👨: I read some reports and interviews. The directors of these three films found you first, which can be said to be very lucky. So for you - you entered the entertainment industry as a singer and a pop idol - is it something that happens when your career develops to a certain stage, or is it because you like it, love it, and seize the opportunity to make your dream come true?
WYB: My first dream when I was little was definitely to be a singer and to stand on stage and sing. I think this first dream has come true. How I came into contact with movies, I think, was probably a mistake. In fact, my first movie was called "Dream Partner". At that time, Ms. Du of the company asked me to go for an interview, and then I made movies with Sister Yao Chen, including the movie "The Red Boy" in "Westward Journey 3". . From then on, I slowly started to understand movies and watched some movies, and then I felt that many movie actors, their charm, through movies and the screen, seemed to have gained a second life. Why do everyone keep talking about Al Pacino's performance in "The Godfather" It's really like the blooming of a second life that will last forever. This is probably what makes me like movies more and more. I watched a movie before, and there was a line I liked very much that seemed to say: Some movies end the moment the screen lights up, and some movies will last forever. Well, good movies will last forever. , this is also what I think is very charming about the movie. The charm of movies is still very different from the charm of stage. Yes. The stage, I think, may be more of a moment of pleasure, a kind of release on the stage, while the movie is exquisitely crafted.
👨: These three movies were all chosen first. Will you try hard to get a role that you like in the future?
WYB: Yes, you must first have a character and a script you like, and then go for it.
👨: Now that you have been nominated for the Golden Rooster Award, will you still submit your resume and audition?
WYB: Of course, including the works of favorite directors, I will also fight for them.
👨: Your own temperament, as defined by the movie channel, is "noble and romantic"...
WYB: Thanks!
👨: And it has a relatively reserved feeling. If you encounter a character who is full of emotions and has strong emotions, would you avoid it?
WYB: I think when I like a character, I don’t first think about whether his emotions are high and low, but maybe I think more about the charm of the character. If I like the character very much, it doesn’t matter if he is high or low, or Regardless of whether I keep it or not, I might wan to try it, but I’m not against it.
👨: What about comedy? Are you interested in a pure comedy?
WYB: Pure comedy, well, I haven't thought about it yet. If there is a character that i really like, I don't think I can resist it and I can try it.
👨: As a newcomer, you are relatively relaxed in front of the camera and don't feel tense. Is this because you started your acting career very early and have rich acting experience, so you are more familiar with the camera?
WYB: I think it is true that as a singer, when performing on stage, whether in front of the audience or in front of the camera, you may be relatively skilled and relaxed, but it is still not enough in the eyes of the director. I think Director Cheng Er gave me a good start. He asked me not to "act" but to subtract. In fact, I am very grateful to the director for cultivating such a goodhabit in me.
👨: During the filming process, in addition to the NG mentioned just now, we often heard "Keep one thing, keep one thing". Of course, this kind of "keep one thing" is often proposed by directors, but have you ever raised it yourself?
WYB: There will be, there will be.
👨: Why is that, if there are no mistakes?
WYB: The requirements are definitely getting higher and higher, and I hope to be better.
👨: What if the director is already satisfied?
WYB: Sometimes actors have their own obsessions, demands, or ideas of their own. They may want me to try something like this again, or I feel that if I have subtracted some actions just now, I would like this action I think it's a bit redundant, so I might want to say, let me do another one without this action.
👨: When you are working, are you in a state where you can get into a scene quickly and get out of the scene quickly?
WYB: I have to get into the mood in advance. I think as an actor, it is normal for you toprepare for the role. As for whether you are really immersed in this role, it depends on you. The more you put your heart into it, the more you will be immersed in it. If you put in your heart less, you won't be able to immerse yourself in it. This is how I feel. So I am more on that set, in that environment, to feel and immerse myself in the set. There is no way for me to change my face as soon as the filming starts, and then return to myself as soon as it ends. I think in that case, as an actor, I have not experienced enough to experience the role? Including if you are really crying very sadly and violently, can you stop it at once? That is impossible.
👨: Well, speaking of which, your crying scene really left a stunning impression on people, I just said that when the crying scene ends, you may not be able to get out for a while, but what about when you enter?
WYB: Every actor may have a different way of entering a scene, so I may still have to use some help. Whether it’s some memories or music, this is also a skill and the reason why actors need a lot of experience. The more you experience, the more you see, the more you understand. When I need some help with my performance, I can quickly capture similar details from my experiences or memories, and then perform them based on the feeling of the character.
👨: Your collaborators, whether they are directors or rival actors, often comment that you are dedicated and hard-working. So I would like to ask, to use the current fashionable term, are you an "involved" person? ?
WYB: I don't think there is such a thing as "involution". I just want to do this thing well out of love.
👨: Is it more accurate to pursue perfection relatively?
WYB: Well, I think so.
👨: People also say that you can endure hardships.
WYB: Well, it must be a little tiring physically, but back to the question, when I am doing this thing, I have already chosen to do it, and if I also want to do it well, I still can’t feel bitter. But would you say you are tired? You will still be tired. Maybe onlookers will think, how tired you are when you do this? Then the premise is that you still like it. I just don’t think it’s hard, but people will see how tired you are, so when they evaluate you, they will say you can endure hardship.
👨: Three movies were released this year, and two were nominated for the Golden Rooster Award. How do you evaluate your year?
WYB: I feel very satisfied and very lucky. Being able to produce three such good works in one year, I think it is really a blessing for an actor. Then whether you try different roles or experience different lives, you will be very happy.
👨: The word Director Cheng Er used to describe you impressed me deeply. It was called "Mianshan". This "Mian" should mean "soft". So you are a relatively soft-hearted person?!
WYB: Well, I think it depends on the situation. When getting along with others, I may be relatively soft. But when it comes to what I pursue, when I want to fight for the first place, I won’t be soft and will be very determined, so it depends on the situation.
👨: We have been paying attention to you since the news about "Hidden Blade" and "Born to Fly". Then I feel that you have changed a lot this year. Before, you felt more like a teenager. This year, whether in activities or in the process of publicity, you have become very calm, and you feel like an adult. Have you felt this change yourself?
WYB: I actually don’t feel this way too much, but I think it may be that I improved rapidly in the year when I made three movies... Maybe it’s also because of experience. Various experiences, I think, are different.
👨: You are usually busy with work and have a very intensive schedule, so do you have very little time for yourself in your spare time?
WYB: Actually, when I am not on the set, my spare time is pretty good, um, pretty good.
👨: Do you watch movies in your free time?
WYB: Yes, I watched a lot of movies with the director some time ago.
👨: Is it the kind of projection you watch at home?
WYB: No, I watched it in a theater with the director.
👨: By the way, you can now watch movies in real commercial cinemas
WYB: I haven’t tried this before. I haven’t tried this yet.
👨 What type of movies do you like as an audience?
WYB: Director Cheng'er took me to watch many literary and artistic films, such as "Songs from Second Floor", "A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence", "All that Jazz", and I liked them all, as well as "Leviathan" and so on. .
👨: They are all foreign films.
WYB: Yes, there are more in Europe.
👨: Do you find European literary films boring?
WYB: I didn't fall asleep (laughs), I quite liked it.
👨: So you watched a lot of movies with Director Cheng Er, and a few days ago went to the theater festival to watch a lot of plays. He also recommended you to "Sea of Stars"...
WYB: I said at the (Golden Rooster Award) nomination and commendation ceremony that I was very grateful to the director for helping me with the film, but I might have been a little nervous on stage at that time. In fact, what I wanted to say was that it was not just in "Hidden Blade", but it also helps me a lot outside the theater, whether it's the aesthetics of movies, music, or art. He told me that if you see too many good things, you will know what is bad.
👨: My understanding is that in addition to the cooperative relationship between director and actor, Director Cheng Er also has a kind of appreciation and support for you.
WYB: Well, yes, it can be understood that the director is teaching me like a teacher, he is my mentor and helpful friend.
👨: Talking about watching movies, do you rarely watch commercial movies?
WYB: I also like commercial films like the "Batman" trilogy very much. But recently I have watched relatively few commercial films. Yes, I mainly study literary and artistic films.
👨: Do you have a particular favorite actor?
WYB: Ah, think about it, the actress likes the Spanish actress Penelope Cruz in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona", and the actor, the actor in "21 Grams", is called Sean Penn.
👨: Well, he is an Oscar-winning actor and has a lot of personality.
WYB: Yes, very charming. He has many works. I also like the movie Dead Man Walking.
👨: "Dead Man Walking".
WYB: Hmm, yes.
👨: You have many hobbies, many of which have turned into skills, and you are considered an all-around artist.
WYB: No, I just want to like more things, but it’s not all-powerful. I like a lot of things, but I'm not good at them, so I don't think they're all-rounders.
👨: But when three directors notice you and choose you, these hobbies and skills such as motorcycle racing, hip-hop, etc. play a very important role.
WYB: Ah, this is also a bit lucky for me. I think I still have to stick to my hobby. This is also the joy of life. You can't just do one thing forever. I like to be exposed to new things, and I hope tostick to it as much as possible, but sometimes my hobbies may change quickly. For example, I was still enjoying golf, but suddenly I started playing tennis again. There is no way to focus on one hobby. To practice and improve all the time, maybe study in time periods. So I think I have many hobbies, but I am not good at them. But I just like so many hobbies, which make your life richer and more interesting, and can keep you in a relatively good state, including your mental state, in your spare time.
👨: Well, exercise is very good.
👨: I also want to ask a question about traffic.
WYB: Yes, yes, yes.
👨: Making a film is a long process, and some of it is kept secret. During thisprocess, if your popularity and traffic as a star are lost, would you mind?
WYB: I definitely don't mind, um, yes. Because I think my main identity now should be an actor. Of course, because it’s my favorite since childhood, I will also release new songs. Now that I am an actor, I actually want more time to broaden my horizons and enrich myself so that I can better shape different roles in the future. So how can I broaden my horizons and make myself more informed? Then I must go out, huh. Similarly, when I was working as an actor and making films, I might have less time to appear in public, and then my traffic would decrease, but I was still doing what I liked and paying for what I liked.
👨: Give us some information about the new film! Is there a script now?
WYB: Uh.........Yes! But I don't know what it will look like in the final shooting (laughs).
👨: Will movies still play an important role in your future career plans?
WYB: Yes, and at the same time, as I just said, don’t give up if you can, and persist.
====
*We have been urged several times to end it as soon as possible, and the following activities have been delayed.
Okay, that’s it for our interview! Finally, I would like to congratulate you again and hope that the filming of the new film goes well!
thanks, thanks!
This is the longest interview we did during the Golden Rooster Awards. The lovely interview subject has always been focused and peaceful, expressed candidly, occasionally thought, and often smiled.
No water, no rest.
His high-frequency vocabulary: thank you, like, love
What impressed us about him:
Extremely polite and always with a straight back.
Later, I watched him take photos. In the dark retro setting, he calmly changed his posture, calm and elegant, and had a charm that only radiated to the camera rather than the crowd.
This boy fulfills all the fantasies people have about idols. This young man is already pursuing bloom and eternity on the big screen. As a young man, his wings are beginning to take shape.

hi rainbowsky, love your blog and your very articulate and sane view of things. It’s been very calming and comforting when there’s so much noise (and hate) in the world. So, thank you!
Curious your take on wyb wearing a bandana hanging from his left belt hook, at the Shu Uemura event today. And not a designer bandana, like the Chanel one he had on his backpack on recent trip to Japan.
I immediately thought of 1970s San Francisco gay culture, men would signal their orientation by hanging them from left side, right side, back pocket (L/R). Not thinking too much about color significance since red is Shu Uemura’s brand color. I don’t know anything about the new ad campaign he’s doing with them, but 1970 and 1971 were on 2 posters behind where he was seated.
It just flashed on me so I’d thought I’d ask. 🧐 🤡
Hi Hellopedey! Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying my blog! 😊
Tumblr media
Inquiring minds want to know: is DD trying to signal to the world that he wants to stick his fist up their ass for Shu Uemura?
You aren't the only person to take note of this. I've seen people mentioning hanky code in the tags of reblogs of my post of the photos from that event, and I've seen people talking about it on Twitter, too. It's become quite a topic since the event.
This is a question that has come up a few times in the past, but alas - it's often impossible to find old posts on Tumblr, so rather than being able to point to my previous post about it I will just re-answer.
Fake, fan fiction, CPN.
Long story short: I don't believe for one hot second that DD is using hanky code. There are a lot of reasons I feel this way, and I'll get to that in a minute, but the number one thing I want to bring home for people is that:
Everyone is allowed to wear hankies without assumptions being made about their sexual activity/preferences.
Including you, Hellopedey, and every other reader. Maybe that's not as much of a relief to some readers as it would be to those who happen to be queer and heavily sexualized by others, but it should take a load off some minds. 😅
You know that old saying, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar*?" Well, sometimes a hanky is just a hanky. I'd go so far as to say that a hanky is almost always just a hanky. Even if worn by a gay man.
*Incorrectly attributed to Freud, the origin of that quote is actually unknown.
Here are just a few reasons it's obvious to me DD isn't signalling (and I can't believe I have to say this, because it seems obvious to me):
Location, location, location. Please remember that hanky code is used when people are looking for sex. DD is at a brand event. He's not looking for sex.
His outfit is likely put together by a stylist, and that stylist is unlikely to be trying to hook him up with people for sex.
Hanky code isn't much of a Thing with young people these days. There's no need for it, since now all anyone needs to do to hook up with someone based on preferences is tick off a few boxes on Grindr or other apps (even in China).
Hanky code is pretty Western-centric. It's unclear whether it's even used in China.
As was discussed in the notes, bandanas are popular in hip hop fashion and in other fashion styles DD often wears.
Hankies are a very widely/wildly popular fashion accessory worn by people from all walks of life. Both GG and DD have worn hankies a lot, including for their fabulous Happy Camp dance, and in this context, it really is just a fashion accessory.
I'm going to say this as gently as possible, because I get it that people are just being clueless and oblivious, and that they don't intend to offend, but it really tweaks something in me as a gay person that so many fans are casually willing to make the assumption that DD is sexually signalling at work.
This goes back to the whole oversexualization in the fandom thing that I often lament.
I think fans - especially turtles - get so used to scrutinizing everything for signs and signals of GG and DD's sexual and romantic proclivities that common sense and GGDD's basic humanity are often overlooked. Fans could also stand to do a bit more to reflect on how their behavior and attitudes might (unintentionally) come across as offensive and homophobic* to queer people.
*Not saying this is where you were coming from, Hellopedey, but I hope all fans will reflect on it.
Please read this post for more info on that, because it's important.
PS] For those looking for something salacious about GG and DD, how about checking out the lyrics for the song they danced together to on Happy Camp? That's a pretty racy song for a couple of 'straight' guys to be dancing together to. 😅

A lot of people wonder why so many fans of Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo hate each other. And after a few years of being a fan of both of them, I think I’ve finally figured it out.
It’s jealousy.
What could each of these stans possibly be jealous of? You ask.
Let me lay it out for you.
On the one hand, you have Xiao Zhan. 😍 Talented, amazing, so beautiful you almost can’t look at him directly Xiao Zhan.
Tumblr media
So why do some WYB fans hate him so much? Because his popularity is insane.
This is from an index poll based on Weibo chatter around the time XZ went to Italy. And I think this is pretty typical… I saw one very similar for Weibo night. And from an objective view, the numbers do seem to defy logic.
Tumblr media
This is a man who is a model, a product endorser, an actor, and — when we’re very lucky — a singer. Currently in that order. (I can feel you picking up your torches and pitchforks but just stay with me 😆) He doesn’t do variety shows or even make a lot of appearances. His live streams for brands are recorded, without fans present or participating in any way. Since the end of 2019, we get to see him in 1, maybe 2 dramas in a year. He did a play (which he’s doing again soon), but not many fans have access to that. He’s got the highest selling single of all time — but he’s never performed it.
It is frankly a CRIME how little we get to see of Xiao Zhan 😭 But as his fan, I assume this is the way he wants it. I don’t question his work choices — you do you, baby ☺️ But haters, they look at the output level and just can’t understand why he’s so much more popular than Wang Yibo. So they’re jealous of the polls and ratings - because no matter what, Xiao Zhan is always on top.
Meanwhile Wang Yibo is EVERYWHERE.
He’s modeling, he’s selling stuff, he’s on tv dramas, he’s on Street Dance of China, he’s dropping singles, he’s performing goddamn interpretive dance to his songs.
Tumblr media
🤩 He’s a movie star with THREE movies coming out this year…
Tumblr media
And WOW do some of XZ’s fans hate him for it 🔥
Why does WYB get to be out there doing all of this? Why not Xiao Zhan??
Tumblr media
If it’s a selfish person who only looks at their fave as a commodity to consume, you can see where it would make them very bitter indeed.
I don’t know the reason for the career differences — I have wonderings, but ultimately I trust in them to do what they want to do, and I sit back and enjoy their work and efforts whenever and however they come. As a turtle, I’m blessed! It’s a shame that all of their fans can’t just enjoy the gifts we’re given.
But haters gotta hate I guess, and well… they can heed this message 😆

Wybie: Using that golem talisman on a pile of scrap was genius! I never thought I would have the best building partner!
Franken-Scrap: (Moans as he spots a shiny red button)
Wybie: Now what’s the rule? No touching any levers, switches, dials and especially red buttons! Absolutely not!
Franken-Scrap: (Pushes it anyway)
(The machine than launches a rapid fast basketball which it ricochet’s off the walls of Wybie’s garage, breaking off Franken-Scrap’s leg and sending wybie crashing into a pile of boxes)
Franken-Scrap: Ah! Buuuuddy!
Wybie: Accidents happen, it’s all good.
Franken-Scrap: (Laughs)
Wybie: Whoa, Your foot. Someone need Wybie’s help? I just can’t imagine a better building buddy than you. Your perfect. Except for he backwards foot thing.
Coraline: (Off-screen) C’mon Wybie! Aren’t you coming?
Wybie: Great work, but I gotta go bye-bye. We’ll tinker again tomorrow.
Franken-Scrap: Buuuudyyy.
Wybie: Sorry, buddy, you can’t come.
Franken-Scrap: (Moan)
Wybie: I know, I know, I’ll miss you too. And remember, keep it down. If my friends find you, especially Jonsey, You’ll be back into pieces before you can say... (Moans)
Franken-Scrap: (Moan)
Wybie: Exactly!
Franken-Scrap: Buuuudyy- (Slams the door and severs his arm)
-
Franken-Scrap: (laughs as he touches random objects in the living room before preparing to touch the TV)
Wybie: No! Buddy, no touching buttons! I-I mean no flushing muffins! What a waste.
Coraline: Ok, Wyb, what’s with you today?
Lili: It’s obvi, Jones. He’s wigging ‘cause he’s dying to wreck some Golem dweebs!
Franken-Scrap: Ehhh?
Coraline: So you’re itching to make a mess, is that right?
Wybie: Uhh, Yeah, I hate those big jerks. Any moment I’m not smashing a rock jerk into jerk dust is a wasted jerk moment. Bunch of jerks! (Whispers) I don’t mean you.
(Franken-Scrap then runs out the back door crying while wybie looks with sadness)
Raz: Aaaand the hug is still going.
Wybie: Good times! You know, we should do this again.
Coraline: Yeah, see ya.
Norman: He’s acting weird. Not just Wybie weird. Dipper weird. No offense.
Dipper: I was gonna say the same thing.
-
Wybie: Buddy! Buddy! Hey! Where’d you go, buddy?
Coraline: There you are. What’s up with all the secrecy?
Wybie: Friends! What are you guys doing?
Raz: Hold that thought. We got a little situation going on!
(Down below, Franken-Scrap is tearing off a man’s black jacket, breaking a a wooden standee of grocery shopper wearing a black coat and taking off and ripping a small dog’s hoodie)
Neil: A Golem made of metal?
Raz: And he’s only attacking people in black jackets. Huh, it’s like someone who wears a black jacket really hurt this guy’s feelings once. Strange. (Raz says as Wybie starts to break down in tears)
Lili: Dibs on wrecking him!
-
Witch 1: We could never let you keep him. Destory him, sister!
Witch 2: My extreme pleasure.
(Witch 2 pushes Wybie away before conjuring a bolt of lightning at Franken-Scrap, but Raz deflects it just in time.)
Raz: Back off! He’s ours, apparently.
Mabel: A new best friend? You’re gonna need this, you’re one of us now, buddy! (Mabel draws a Mystery Kids symbol on his face)
Franken-Scrap: (Giggles) Buudyyy!
Wybie: That’s right! Your on our team.  But this fight isn’t about making projects, it’s about kicking evil witch faces! Are you with me?
Franken-Scrap: (Grunt)
Wybie: This way, buddy. (Turns him around)
-
(The Mystery Kids are outnumbered by golems and get themselves tied up in metal cable.)
Franken-Scrap: Ahhh! Buuuudiiiiesss!
Witch 1: Finish them. And destroy the traitor.
(The witches golems close in on him. But Franken-Scrap enraged by his new friends getting hurt, concentrates all his power and summons nearly all the metal in the junkyard and make his hand three times as big.
Witch 1: They grow up and turn against you so fast.
(With swing of his fist, all the golems and witches are set blasting into the night sky)

Favorite Yibo Dance🕺🏻part 1
There’s no discussion:  Yibo has an obscene amount of talent: acting, dancing, singing, skating, biking, spokesperson, the list goes on and on.  There is no stopping this man when he puts his mind to it.  We are witnessing his dramatic skyrocket trajectory to the top and it is only the cusp of his stardom.
Yibo is gifted with physical attribute of having a lean, masculine and elegant build. He trained tirelessly, resulting in  strength, flexibility and great control.  He brings characters to his dance, and is not afraid to go outside his comfort zone.
Yibo love for dancing started it all, from UNIQ to getting DDU gig, to CQL and beyond.  Remember his lengthly audition for DDU?  Here’s a video with the his intro, starting at 2.43.  Notice the side smirk 😉
“Do I look handsome? When I dance, I look even more handsome.”
Tumblr media
Lucky for us, there’s a wealth of clips available if you want to lose your mind temporarily, but these are my favorite top 10.
10. The Cha-Cha | Day Day Up
This was pure enjoyment watching Yibo do the cha-cha,  a vibrant, flamboyant and playful dance.  A mix of fun and sophistication, Yibo was light on his feet, and brought on the flirty, playful, and cheeky character.  No stopping at basic cha-cha, there were spirals, chasses, locks, rondes!  Did you catch his eyes? I’d like to see him do more latin ballroom dancing - look at the hip action.
youtube
9. Martial Arts Dance | Day Day Up | Sep 2018
Not typical of what you see Yibo dancing to, nonetheless, captivating.  A dance that combines traditional forms of martial art designed for combat with music. Every movement serves to either attack or block an attack. He uses a fan, spear, and sword with explosiveness and agility, completing each move from head to feet to fingertips, fully extended.  This video is the next best thing to seeing LWJ dance.  Bonus, it includes MV of Saying Sword: Moonlight Blade starts at 2:37. Shen Yun - hint, hint!
youtube
8. Freestyle Dance Off | Happy Camp | July 2018
Freestyle is about improvising movement.  It is never the same performance to performance,  so you never know what to expect.  In my opinion, freestyle comes naturally to Yibo, like the back of his hand.  Turn on the music and he becomes the music.  Watch the insane quick vibrating movement as the music builds up starting at the 1:00 min mark.  This performance comes with 80’s track suit, smoldering eye make-up and mega-watts smile at the end.
youtube
7. The Grand Entrance | Rules of My World | New Year Dec 2020
Got to love a grand entrance!  WYB brought back reminiscent of CQL, effortlessly floats down on the stage in long blue cape. Note the similar pose between this performance and the drama. Yibo has stated that he loves doing wire work - it’s no surprise that he brought this onto the dance stage.  Just in case you are not in awe, he’s just gonna do a flip and lands on another stage and then back.  True to the lyrics of this song, “I am what I am..I tell my own story”.  “You Ready?” Yes, Yibo, we are always ready for you.
youtube
6. Yibo Grand Exit | No Sense/Wugan | New Year Show, Dec 2019
This performance stands out for a combination high energy dance, sultry hair, makeup, costume, and of a whole lot of fun in the water.  The mix of movement to the music is perfect.  Yibo clad in long flowing  cape, eyes glance down, and walks towards the stage starts to build the heat. He then jumps in the water and stomps around. The result:  wet face, wet hair, wet clothes.  He then hops onto his bike and rides around, making pit stop in between so you can have a good look.  Cool Yibo.

Edit note: It seems I’ve reach max for tumblr....continue on to part 2

The Livestream
Got a lot of ask about this so I thought it would be easier to make a post.
Before I translate the livestream clip, thought it would be nice to give some background. So the person in the livestream is the dancer that danced with WYB today. He is gay and has a boyfriend. His favorite captain is Lay Zhang and has openly/jokingly flirted with him on the show. The show also try to push a funny “love triangle narrative” between him, Lay, and ZHL. This is of course all for effects and there hasn’t been an angry uproar for other people’s fans (something to learn from them) over this.
So this dancer, is he someone close to WYB? Absolutely not. Why?
1) He said it. He’s also not in WYB’s team.
2) He said his impression of WYB is someone that is cold. Anyone that gets to know WYB long enough know that he may seem cold and aloof initially but that’s not how any of his close friends (ttxs brother for example) would describe him.
3) Because he describe WYB is cold and aloof, you can infer that it is almost impossible for WYB to have a “heart to heart” conversation with him or one about his sexuality or his feelings about being shipped with a guy. Can you imagine WYB to randomly be this open with a stranger? Not at all! He’s very professional and if he talks to you more, it’s usually only about work or his hobby.
So the livestream: (Disclaimer: This is my version of the translation. I know there are a lot floating around so feel free to compare and come up with your own conclusion.)
-There are some comments on the livestream saying “WYB  is 1 (top in t/b dynamics)”-
Dancer: Please don’t say something like this. Don’t say something so “fujjoshi.” WYB is a very pure very pure straight guy. Very pure straight guy. Be careful of your words. I already warned you. WYB is a straight man. To be honest, I don’t know if I should say this, honestly many straight male celebrities, if you ship their cp, and their age is young, they don’t like it. So I hope everyone is more realistic, don’t ship rps. If they’re straight, and you ship them with a girl, thats fine but if you ship them with a guy, they wont’ feel comfortable.
Here on will be my own interpretation:
So going back and rewatching this more, here is what I think. I think the dancer in general is just speaking from the view of someone who is gay and annoyed at all these bl obsessed fujoshi, especially ones with very incorrect ideology, over sexualization, and creepy fantasy about mxm ship. I can feel from his livestream this frustration. And I think this is a sentiment many gay people have.
I think it’s possible he really think WYB is straight. Like I said before, he doesn’t know WYB well. So he probably just made assumptions based on seeing him a couple times (maybe he said how WYB is cold to people and avoid close contact and take that as he doesn’t like to be shipped?). Can he be right? Sure. Can he be wrong? Of course. Like I said, I highly highly doubt WYB had a “heart to heart” convo with this guy about his sexuality.
The part about him saying that straight guys don’t to be ship with other guys sound like a generalization of what he thinks of straight man, and not specific to WYB. Why? Because WYB has demonstrated literally the opposite of this. He’s not afraid to talk about his biggest mxm ship (XZ), reference it, interact with fans that are clearly bxg, etc. But he does purposefully distant from women, flip down pictures of him with girls, close down a supertopic of him with a girl (CX), etc. So does WYB’s behavior sound like the kind of “straight guy” that the dancer was saying in his livestream? Not at all. So I think the dancer was just making a generalization.
I’m unsure about the being young thing. Maybe he’s worried that WYB is young that comments of him being gay because of the dance might affect him, idk. But anyways, I think the main conclusion from this is that this guy does not know WYB well or speak for WYB himself and there’s no point to celebrate or jump ship from what a random third party is saying.

Hi, im wondering about recent clip of D/D/U. I guess yibo is a playful person with his friends. I saw how he teased CX and being pampered by his U/N/I/Q hyung. Im rarely interact with ant!s but due to that clip (CX) all his cp fan happy while leaving hateful comment to B/X/G. Its hurt me when they so hateful to h-o-m-o but okay to h-e-t-e-r-o. Why oh why!?!?! This is only my sharing thought. I love reading ur opinions btw. BJYXSZD!!!
Hi, fabellevixxi95! They are talking about TTXS 200719′s episode, for those who are wondering when did this ask happen (yes, I know, I do answer late).
First of all, there are a lot of CPs featuring dd with a lot of people. His old bros from UNIQ, any female with whom he interacts beyond a “hi”, DZW, etc.
(There’s a really noteworthy douyin from DZW explaining the concept of “CP” to his mother: “when you’re very good bros, people start naming your friendship as CP, (...) like the one I have with WYB”. Golden).
I really can’t judge anyone for adhering to a CP, since it’s the same thing I’m doing, but leaving hateful comments, insulting, and outright refusing to back down and apologize for their insults is not right. Be careful of those people, sometimes they aren’t even fans, but antis trying to stir up problems. Don’t engage, block and report if they’re going against the guidelines of the platform they are in.
Okay, since that part is out now, I leave my thoughts about this CP under the cut.
Disclaimer: fake fake fake.
To be honest, I looked into dd-CX CP out of curiosity, to compare a little bit. I couldn’t even find the name of the CP at first, but it was apparent soon enough as to why: they use the same bjyx initials with the “xiao” being CX’s name. However “bjyx” as a CP name has long been taken over by bxg.
I think many people prefer him being with CX (or any other female celebrity actually) because of 2 reasons:
Homophobia. It was difficult for me to realize that a lot of people are lowkey homophobic. They won’t say “ew, gays”, but they’ll say “it’s obvious he’s with a girl instead of with a man, he can’t be gay”. They are much reluctant to admit the possibility of anyone being in a relationship with a person of the same gender, though they’ll often defend themselves with something along the lines of “hey, I have many queer friends, I’m not homophobic!”
There’s a type of fan (let’s call them gf-fans) that fantasize with the possibility of being their idol’s partner. This, in gg and dd’s case, happens much more often with female fans, who then will grasp at straws to continue believing that their idol is completely straight. Thus why they’re much more willing to see a CP with a female idol (when they accept that their idol might not be single): they feel much more identified with a female than a male.
There’s also a curious phenomenon with these “girlfriend-type” of fans: imo, they’re much more open to an hetero CP because they know it’s just rumours and that it’s much more likely to be false, so that fulfills their fantasy of maybe someday meeting their idol and making them fall head over heels in love with them.
(That’s why many bxg pay a lot of attention to what mtjj outright refuse to discuss about. Like hotpot).
It has often been commented that dd’s CP with CX is one of the most “solid” ones, even though CX has said:
She and dd had collaborated twice in a couple choreographies by the time she went for the first time (prior to dd’s birthday special in 2018) to TTXS, and she said both times they hadn’t said a word to each other outside of work.
She called dd “modern monk” in his birthday special last year, and said that he lacked interest in women.
They started to get along much better when they hosted a skateboarding variety show together in 2019, most likely due to shared interests and work related issues. That had to make the CP reach its peak, because I don’t think I’ve seen a lot of these fans nowadays.
(They got comfortable enough for dd to say that she is very heavy, because he couldn’t carry her princess-style, which she didn’t appreciate at all. Trust me, no idol would have liked that).
Dd started to treat CX as a friend, so it probably made people’s eyes fall out of their sockets, because his interactions with women are scarce and very controlled. It is to the point that some fans say he must be gay because of the nature of his interactions with women.
But... I kind of understand him? People tend to forget that he grew up in South Korea, at the age when boys and girls start to interact and make friends with people of the opposite gender. The majority of the boys usually play with other boys and most of the girls play with other girls, specially in countries so conservative as China or South Korea (it’s a generalization, but it’s what happens 🤷‍♀️).
So, at the age when boys and girls start to mingle, he was in South Korea, living in an all boys dorm and studying with other male trainees (from what I know, mixed dorms are extremely hard to find even for university students), in a society where skin touch between a boy and girl with no romantic relationship is frowned upon. I’m aware that there’s a spectrum of types of couples, but even holding hands is rare for some couples there (let’s leave the sexism that still exists in those countries for another day, but they certainly have room to improve in that issue).
Moreover, dd, for all he is bold when no words are required, is quite shy. He’s coming out of his shell, but many of his interactions with women come from a time where I think it was more shyness what made him “cold” (and many people had said that he’s shy rather than cold, and dd himself says “I’m a slow starter” meaning he needs time to be familiar with other people).
That’s why, from my pov, his stilted, uncomfortable interactions with women (in the past) steems from the environment he grew up in + knowing he’s being observed all the time. There’s a video of him dropping a pen, surrounded by girls in skirts in an event, and to pick it up, he drops carefully, facing away from the girls, and keeping his eyes locked on the pen.
(I’m leaving my own speculation about their sexuality for another post, but just as a spoiler, I’m between gay and bi, leaning towards gay for some reasons).
All in all, dd is a playful person with his friends. He has every right to be however he wants. The fact that he’s comfortable enough to tease his female coworkers is just proof that he’s grown out of his awkward phase and that he has found people he likes to work with, no matter their gender.
The fact that some people take friendship as a CP is a phenomenon that will gradually dispel once he works with more women. I really don’t understand the blind RPS with no real proof (beware of fanservicing), but I’m fine if it’s the CP of their project, ofc. So I hope the fans who want him to be straight because it fits their image of him or whatever reason can just accept that he’s living for himself, not for their fantasies.

FFXIV Write 2020 Prompt 1: Crux
A parting wave was offered to the xaela man carrying her toddler and ushering the two older children back into his home, even adding a pleasant smile in as well. The roegadyn kept a reasonably calm and measured pace until she’d rounded a few corners in the portion of Shirogane his home, swiftly breaking into a full sprint once she was clear. Seemed like no matter how much padding she put into scheduling around those exchanges it was never enough and she was running well behind meeting a new contact. The power play of ‘fashionably late’ had backfired for her previously here in the Far East, and she wasn’t aiming to put herself in bad footing this time around. Several minutes of that demanding work out later and she had the tea house the met was set up at in sight, letting her come slowing down back into a more respectable speed. After all, if one is going to take the heat for being late it should at least look intentional.
A leather glove drags along her forehead and then up into her hair for one quick toss as she makes her way up to the door, doing her best to restore her carefully curated look before stepping into an unknown den. A young raen woman from the staff immediately greets Brem with a bow that the Sea Wolf returns a little slower than she likely should. “You are here to see Mister Kubo, yes? He is already waiting for you..” The roe can’t quite unhear the accusatory tone in those last few words while following the gesture from the shorter woman. A brief, slightly gruff ‘Thanks’ is offered up before she sets on her way.
Thankfully she’s had a bit of practice carefully handling the wood and paper doors closing off the side room she was sent off towards, but she’s still got to get into a significant hunch to wedge herself through the shortened doorway. It does leave her with far less distance to go when offering the man seated within already a bow before dropping herself into a pile on the opposite side of the floor-seating height table. The Hingashi hyur already there is unabashed in chuckling at the air pirate’s struggles, giving a dip of his head in return to her bow while motioning out to the cup of tea already waiting for her. “If you fit so well in the rest of Shirogane, I believe I can forgive some tardiness Miss Abylnpfefwyb.” “Glad you’re so considerate, Mister Kubo. And it’s Abylnpfefpwyn, but you still got through it cleaner than half of my Eorzean co-horts. Old Roe’ is a tricky tongue.” The cramped woman reaches out for the cup, using a pair of fingers from each hands to try and mimic what she’d seen for proper motions. “Delightful as the drink and.. accommodations are, I’ve come the other side of the star for more than a cup of tea.” A gloved hand vanishes into her overcoat for a moment before drawing out a folded letter and places it at the center of the short table between them. “Our.. mutual friend believes that you can make the appropriate introductions required for my business on this particular subject.”
Another warm laugh makes it’s way out of the hyur sat across from her, with a hand patting along the jiggling bit of paunch rounding out the front of his fine silk clothing. “I have.. a number of friends that people are eager to meet, yes. Their time is of course often highly sought after, and being able to properly manage knowing when and where their schedules would allow for outside interjection.. well that is a taxing task in it’s own right..” The diatribe is offered as he reaches out for the letter and unfolds it. A show is made of him reading it over, including several flaps of the page while he produces slim spectacles with gold trim to set upon the end of his nose. After his dramatic show his eyes turn up to the dull black orb set in the Sea Wolf’s face plate pointedly before meeting the half of her gaze that’s still animated. “I can see why our friend sent you my way, yes. I do believe I might know someone who might be able to provide some assistance. Due to their.. eclectic niche of a specialty and the demands of their... organization, I think it might be a true challenge to get some time for them to look into things for you, however...”
The lid over her natural eye was already drooping as he trailed that point off, not in any way impressed with his slow roll into the negotiation. The giant reaches out with two fingers to pluck the letter from Kubo’s own grasp. Before he can finish scoffing at the abruptness of the act, the pirate’s turned the parchment over and shoved it back across the table. “You got a finders fee like every other middleman in the world, and you’re probably trying to pluck a Garlean. Possibly an ex-pat. Hopefully so, for their sake in fact.” A finger snaps down to the figure scrawled on the face of the letter he’s got in front of him now. “I told you, I’m not here to sip tea. That is a generous number, more than generous even. Half in advance, half after I meet your ‘friend’ and know they’re worth the trouble. You can take the offer and sit here and enjoy the rest of your beverage in peace with knowledge you’re about to have a heavy coin purse, or I can go find myself another set of big ears and grubby hands.” The roe pushes the door back open and swings a leg back out to start the process of extracting herself. “Your skillset isn’t nearly as valuable as the one I’m looking for, and I’m willing to shop if you make me.”
The once chuckling expression upon the hyur’s face had soured over the Sea Wolf’s bluntness about things, but the number of digits on that letter was enough for him to pick it up and slip it into one of his pockets. “You’ll be hearing from my friend soon, Miss Abylnpfefwyb.”

The Untamed Episode 35, My Commentary!
Spoiler warning.
I’m now back to a stretch of episodes that’s low anxiety and low violence and that’s a blessing tbh after the rough patch there. The Softest of moments and the heart meltingest of scenes. I do like!
I have watched 34 episodes of this cursed show, and far and away the softest moment thus far happened just now. WWX walked up and saw ahead of him LWJ looking at the sky. And WWX just stopped to watch him and his face was so soft it should have been illegal
WWX is walking funny. “LZ, I’m fine.” *LWJ lifts WWX’s clothes*
Okay, so let’s flash back to the cave with the Tortoise of Slaughter and how the mere concept of either of them being in any way uncovered scared LWJ into coughing up blood.
My, how far we’ve come.
Oh Good Lord
Them arguing over whether WWX should walk or be carried was so exactly in character for each of them for who they are now, though it’s a mark of how much LWJ has changed that I can say that and mean it.
(Side note: In Gank Your Heart, Wang Yibo ALSO has a “Carry this love interest on my back” scene and he pulls the same swift, slick move, with getting the arm over his shoulder and then hoisting them up and it just looks so strong and swift and sexy.)
NHS is cowering behind a fluttering fan, which is comical.
LWJ getting WWX all the liquor he wants at this meeting with NHS is ridiculous...who is this man, and what has he done with LWJ?! He’s too smitten!!
This whole thing with NHS is so weird, but specifically in the context of NHS - like how did THIS cowardly child of an adult end up the descendant of that family with the evil blades…?
“Oh My God,” I just said OUT LOUD, when LWJ actually smiled at WWX while watching him play flute.
WWX has a much brighter smile, but LWJ’s is much harder to come by, so his feels sweeter. <3
I love that smile so much. <3
I just watched LWJ and WWX walking together and LWJ looked at least like 4 inches taller than WWX. I would really like to see the stilts Wang Yibo is walking on under those robes…
WWX tells NHS to take the blades out of the blades shrine. NHS is like No! LWJ, definitely not- that LWJ is like just do it.
Ahahahaha LWJ’s transformation from who he was in the beginning to who he is now is incredible character development. For example, after WWX theorizes that somebody might be setting him up, and LWJ replies with “Time will tell” and his eyes say “but no matter what I got u, fam” and it’s a testament to WYB’s acting skill that I could hear that transmitted - in English - from his eyes. Bravo.
Oooooookay help please.
So LWJ/WWX say goodbye to NHS after leaving the blades shrine. All good. But WWX and NHS bow to each other and LWJ does no bowing (nor is he bowed to). Ummm what?
Xue Yang is still alive. WWX is annoyed, vut narratively, it was necessary.
Omg LWJ just grabbed the liquor out of WWX’s hand and downed it. Well hot damn! Is this gonna be another lovely drunk scene coming up at the start of the next episode? :) lol

from this review and article about One and Only movie. i added ones about chen shuo + wyb specifically. 🫶🏼
contains spoilers!!!
Tumblr media
"Passion": Pure love, do you still have it?
Chen Shuo loves street dance, not to fulfill his parents' wishes and the like - although his initial understanding of the stage and dance comes from his parents; Chen Shuo loves street dance, not in order to win the championship of a major competition, in exchange for a high bonus, to pay off the family's debts - although he treated his father before, the family did have debts, but Chen Shuo has been working hard to work various odd jobs to supplement the family... In short, he loves street dance, not for fame, not for profit, not for getting ahead, not for fame, just the purest love, love the bravado of street dance, love every "dead bump" with the floor, love the fullness of the heart when dancing...
In order to rush to this love, Chen Shuo never stopped practicing in every gap between his part-time job, and the not spacious store, the empty subway late at night, the place where the troupe walked to the cave to perform, and the theater stage that had long been abandoned, were all Chen Shuo's practice grounds, he didn't feel that it was very hard at all, he enjoyed it.
Anywhere can be Chen Shuo's stage
When Ding Lei (played by Huang Bo), the coach of the well-known street dance troupe's exclamation point, found Chen Shuo and asked Chen Shuo to help Kevin (played by Casper), the core of the dance troupe, as a stand-in during training, Chen Shuo was flattered and agreed without saying a word.
Chen Shuo didn't feel that being a stand-in was a shame or hurt his self-esteem, because the exclamation point was the dance troupe he dreamed of entering, and he even told Ding Lei that he could not get a salary, and he thought about whether he had the opportunity to stay if he performed well.
Ding Lei said a little confused, it depends on your performance. Chen Shuo, who believed it to be true, showed a warm and happy smile.
Chen Shuo longed to stay in the exclamation point
There is no one-and-done road in the lives of little people. Chen Shuo's love soon faced a cruel test. Kevin is not only the core of the dance company, but he is also the biggest financial owner of the dance company, and he directly withdraws his investment from the dance company when he is unhappy. In order to keep the dance troupe alive, Ding Lei had no choice but to take on a commercial performance from a garbage can manufacturer, and let the members of the exclamation point dress up as garbage can dances. Ding Lei felt that this was too cheap, he didn't know how to open his mouth to the members, but Chen Shuo was willing to take the job - he loved the exclamation point, and he wanted to stay.
An even crueler moment was when Kevin re-killed the exclamation point out of jealousy and offered tempting conditions to Ding Lei, there was only one request - to fire Chen Shuo; At this time, Ding Lei and the members of the exclamation point at this time already had a deep relationship with Chen Shuo, and Ding Lei still decided to give up Chen Shuo for utilitarian purposes. Even in such an abandoned situation, Chen Shuo's first reaction was still to fight for the opportunity to stay, saying that I could go and apologize to Kevin—even if he never did anything wrong.
Chen Shuo was abandoned
In real life, people as pure as Chen Shuo are probably not the majority. In the movie, he is a fresh and specific person, and Dapeng gave him a lot of preferences when shaping this role - he is sensible, filial, hard-working, and Wang Yibo, who is very good at street dance, also has more room to play; But at the same time, Chen Shuo is also like an "image" or "symbol", he is the embodiment of that kind of pure love.
Therefore, the film has a double connotation. The first layer, it wants to tell, the inspirational story of a young man who loves street dance; The second level is to explore the circumstances and values of love in our time.
The people around Chen Shuo are difficult not to be attracted by his temperament, and pure love has a strong appeal. Therefore, Ding Lei saw the shadow of his youth in Chen Shuo, and he was moved by Chen Shuo's sincerity; Therefore, the members of the exclamation point chose Chen Shuo between Kevin who can bring money and future, and pure Chen Shuo.
As the audience, it is actually easier for us to substitute Ding Lei's perspective. Although Chen Shuo is the "soul" of the movie, the existence of Ding Lei really supports the skeleton and flesh of the entire movie. Ding Lei is also the epitome of many small people in real life - we have love, but we are also utilitarian.
But "One and Only" still has to give "love" a chance, Ding Lei finally re-chose Chen Shuo, a person with pure love is the real "strong", which is vividly reflected in the 20-minute street dance competition at the end of the movie. The film hopes that "love" can touch us outside the big screen like touching Ding Lei, awaken our original intention for what we love, and feel the power transmitted to us by pure love.
So, pure love, do you still have it? Are you still willing to hold on?
Dapeng is already an increasingly mature commercial film director, and "One and Only" does have a good commercial appearance. It not only has the "burning" of sports genre films and inspirational films of small people, but also embellishments of family affection, teacher-student love, friendship, love and other elements, but also brings laughter or tears to the audience; Dapeng has always had a good sense of movie rhythm, and the beginning and transition of "One and Only" is quite smooth, and there is no obvious paralysis; Finally, the highlight of the street dance competition gives full play to the charm of the audiovisual language of the movie, even if you don't know street dance, you can be infected by the hot competition atmosphere on the spot...
A high-burning street dance competition
As a commercial genre film, there will inevitably be various "calculations", and the "calculation" color of Dapeng movies is also very distinct, but compared to some directors', Dapeng is much more sincere. But this kind of "calculation" must also make the film very purposeful, and many people other than the protagonist will be reduced to functional existence; Moreover, there are some elements of the movie, and they also appear very appropriately, but many elements are also pointed to the end, leaving doubts.
For example, is it necessary for Chen Shuo's love line to exist in the movie? Is Chen Shuo's two-story roast meat shop owned by himself or rented? What is his "history" like, and how can he more accurately express the "poverty" of the little man? Rather than just filming him to do some odd jobs, this may affect the resonance of the film in the sinking market. In the group portrait of the exclamation point, apart from Chen Shuo, how many people can the audience remember? The clip of Ding Lei and his ex-wife is also a frustrated middle-aged man who always has a woman to guard him loyally, so how did he get divorced? and so on.
It's not just a problem that the film is limited and cannot be expanded, but that Dapeng made a commercial film too much like a high-scoring composition, with all the points, but it may not be natural enough when it is connected.
"One and Only" does not hide its flaws. Along the way, isn't Dapeng's filmmaking experience the epitome of "love"? As long as there is that pure love, there will be better possibilities. This is true for both Dapeng and us off-screen.

Hello. I'm wondering which type of cpfs do you consider toxic. Are you one of those who think it is wrong for mtjjs to get angry at cpfs who came to SDC5 final bringing sign/lights that have nothing to do with WYB? Do you also believe WYB or his team is happy to see all those red lights there? Is it ok for cpfs to chant bjyxszd loudly in official events? Does provoking solo fans equal support for ggdd in this fandom? Do all cpfs really wish that WYB is always inferior to xz in everything?
I am the sort of BXG that believes everyone should stay in their own lane, moto.
The idea that a MTJJ can come to my blog trying to make a case that BXG behaved badly at that event when I saw the video footage that showed both groups behaving in outrageous ways they should be deeply ashamed of, it's just beyond the pale.
All these questions are things you should be self-reflecting on. Do you really think DD and his team were proud of MTJJ any more than they were of BXG? Pull your head out of that place where it's planted.
If you want my thoughts on how that event went down, you can read my post about it here. But you shouldn't be focusing on what I'm doing and what I'm thinking or what any BXG is thinking or doing, you should be focusing on yourself and your own behavior and your own fandom. Stay in your own lane.
If you're not focused on DD and instead are focused on us, who can you really say you're a fan of?
Are you the kind of person who believes that a woman who wears a pretty dress is at fault if she gets raped? I certainly hope not. The only person responsible for bad behavior is the perpetrator of that behavior. There's no such thing as 'provocation'. Everyone makes their own choices about how to behave, and everyone is responsible for their own behavior. End of story.
Anyone who truly had DD's interests at heart that night would have de-escalated and walked away from any conflict so as not to embarrass him at an event where he wasn't even the focus.
And if you're not trying to 'provoke' me, Anon, what exactly you're trying to do with this message? You do not appear to be asking in good faith, you appear to be sending me a passive-aggressive screed. Don't you think that's more than a little bit hypocritical?
I couldn't help but notice you capitalized WYB but not XZ. Was it unintentional, or was it an act of hatred toward GG?
Look - nothing can make Yibo inferior to anyone. You should know that as his fan. The fact that I - a 'dirty old CP fan' - can see his unassailable beauty more than you can, should embarrass you given your apparent anti-CP attitude.
I'm not so insecure about his qualities and abilities as to need to 'defend his honor'. His honor is beyond reproach, and his achievements and independence are above any diminishment from randos online or from other artists, husbands or industry people. He doesn't need us to defend him.
Solo fans need to get it into their heads that the only people with the power to shut turtles down are GG and DD. The fact that they have chosen not to do so should give you pause and make you humble.
The thing that solo fans will never understand, is that there are as many perspectives on how to be a turtle as there are turtles. Turtles are not a monolith.
There are turtles who behave in ways that I find incredibly offensive, just as there are turtles who behave in ways that I respect. The same is true for solos. There are some whose approach to fandom I respect, and some I find awful. I don't spend too much time hand-wringing over what other people do. Live and let live. That is what GG and DD have asked of their fans.
The hilarious thing is, MTJJ think that turtles don't care about DD, and XFX think that turtles don't care about GG. They're so full of their own hatred toward the other man that they can't get their head around the idea that we love them both. I'm not sure toxic solos are really capable of seeing that love. They're too full of hate.
If you've spent any amount of time on my blog, you will find that love on every page.
I don't like it when people feminize and oversexualize GG, and I don't like it when people infantilize and underestimate DD, regardless of what fandom they claim to be a part of. I view GG and DD as equals and as individuals with their own achievements and autonomy. It annoys me when people fail to see their individuality and their humanity - whether out of ignorance, inexperience, bigotry, fantasy, lack of reflection or from having been misled by others.
However, other people's behavior is none of my business. Everybody gets to be a fan in the way they want to be a fan.
Even though I think MTJJ's anti-BXG and anti-GG behavior hurts DD and probably makes him feel like shit on a regular basis, I really don't spend much time stressing out about it. You have to make your own choices, and if showing him how much you don't accept him is your choice, that's yours to live with.
It is not my job to police other people, nor is it your job to do so. We should all stay in our own lane and mind our own business. And however possible we should learn to get along with each other, because we aren't going anywhere.
Accept it. Turtles are here to stay just as MTJJ are.
You should be glad that DD has our support just as I'm glad that he has MTJJ support. The more support he gets, the better. In an industry as mercurial and hostile as C-ent can be, every star can use all the support they can get.
We have been supporting Yibo as a group for 4 years now. Our numbers are only growing. Find it within yourself to accept us rather than trying to start a war.
I will continue to say this to every fan who writes me about topics like this, whether it be a BXG, a MTJJ or a XFX. Stay in your own lane.

a wangxian playlist no one asked for
These are track notes for a wangxian playlist no one asked for, because CQL / mdzs fandom ate my life and I somehow needed to make a super dramatic 28 song playlist that follows wangxian’s love in (extremely loose) chronological order, from their first meeting as cute battle teens all the way through the depths of angst and eventually to becoming cultivation partners and (I’m positive) really great co-parenting dads.
Because I’m like that ™ , you can find notes for each and every song below. Any weird song choices are entirely my fault. Spoiler alert: Frank Ocean.
This is a real long playlist and you could definitely break it into shorter stretches by mood. For the happiest and most in love vibes, hit the first 6 songs and the last 6 songs. Dramatic Burial Mounds vibes are from 7 to 13. It may be very satisfying to go from the depths of sadness and grief (~16) through to the end.
1.  Don’t Know What to Do | BLACKPINK
Inspired, of course, by WYB and XZ’s demonstrated love of Blackpink in the CQL BTS videos. For a little while Stay was on this list instead, but I kept coming back to this song because to me it gets at that excited “everything is new and I’m young and so in love” feeling. Two people could certainly have a playful duel under the moonlight to this song, if they wished.
2.  A Loving Feeling | Mitski
Something about Mitski’s melancholy, slightly maudlin and self-deprecating vibe in this song is just peak “I wasn’t flirting… unless…?”
3.  Self Control | Frank Ocean
Somehow this playlist ended up structured around two overlapping arcs carried by Frank Ocean and Lykke Li, respectively, which makes no sense in theory but maybe kind of works? Idk, let me know if it works. If it does, maybe it’s because so many Frank Ocean songs are incredibly raw love songs about loss and the work that memory does to keep your love alive, and so many Lykke Li songs are about trying to slog through all the pain and bullshit without losing sight of that kernel of untarnished brightness, whatever it was that made you want to love in the first place.
I love this song for many reasons, but in no small part for the sorry-not-sorry vibe of apologizing for making someone lose their self control.
4.  Look After Me | Cub Sport
This song is real honest and tender about people taking care of each other and it messes me up.
“There's something in the way you look at me
Like I've never done wrong
There's something in the way you look at me
When I was wrong all along.”
5.  We Could Run | Beth Ditto
Ok, imagine this playing in the background during LWJ and WWX’s first meeting with Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan. A good song to play as you run into the sunset holding hands with your cultivation partner, is what I’m saying.
6.  Unconditional Love | 椎名林檎 (Shiina Ringo)
This is just a super sweet and painfully dramatic love song, the kind of song that plays for a man who makes grand unsung gestures like composing magical love songs and secretly adopting your child after you’ve died. This is before the latter part of that, though.
7.  Bad Religion | Frank Ocean
This is the first turning point on the list, the fading of youthful optimism and the start of choices that there’s no going back from. This is when you start to realize that you really can’t please everyone, and you can’t do what you believe is right without someone hating you for it. It’s also the point at which your neuroses and blind spots start to go from being quirky and cute to a cage of your own making. You have to deal with the bad shit you inherited from your parents eventually. If you don’t you’ll either make the same mistakes they did or make different mistakes because you’re fighting so hard to keep your head above water.
I really like the part when Frank Ocean asks his taxi driver to outrun the demons. Feels like something a modern AU WWX might say.
8.  Silent My Song | Lykke Li
I didn’t want to go full angst here because this playlist is about *cue Westley bellowing in the Princess Bride* TRUE LOVE and so I didn’t go as hard as I could here, but this is the start of the golden core +  first Burial Mounds arc.
9.  Figure 8 | FKA twigs
I can hear the resentful energy swirling in this one. This is probably the most abstract choice on the list but to me something in it evokes the curdled rage and seething of an unquiet spirit.
10.  Fantasmas | Ambar Lucid
This is a song about living with ghosts: of a failed relationship, and the mistakes that it took to get there.
11.  Green Grass | Cibelle
I love this song because it’s a little sweet and a little scary at the same time. It’s gentle and haunting and the lyrics are as unforgettable as poetry.
Is this a love song that a corpse is singing to someone visiting their grave? I like to think so.
12.  I Bet on Losing Dogs | Mitski
In spite of the dog reference (lol) this whole song is a super WWX trying to live with the Wens in the Burial Mounds mood in my opinion. It has turnip energy. Trampled yet undefeated lotus energy, if you will.
13.  Godspeed | Frank Ocean
This song is the essence of heartbreak and knowing that you have to finally let go of someone. Am I imagining LWJ and WWX singing this back and forth to each other at the Burial Mounds, depending on which line it is? Am I crying about it a little? Maybe.
“I let go of my claim on you.”
“There will be mountains you can’t move.”
14.  I Know Places | Lykke Li
This is the “Come back to Gusu with me” song, even though it’s coming later in the timeline than it should. (I sort of compressed all the Burial Mounds-set songs together for a better flow). Anyway I feel like this captures all of those unspoken desires, that frustrated feeling of caring about and believing in someone so much without being able to protect them from all the people and powers that want to hurt them. But you have to try.
15.  Deeper Than Love | Antony and the Johnsons
This song is almost. Too dramatic. This is meant to be at Nightless City / WWX’s fall. I originally had 2 completely different songs here but I ended up liking the arc of this song and where it ends up. The two songs I originally had here were a much more bitter feeling, but I like that this song is tragic and painful and is still a kind of love song at the same time. I really wanted this playlist to be all love songs, some very different from each other, some more about pain and loss and regret than the good parts of love, but still love songs.
“And I have tried to shine in the darkness
Entertaining vanities in vain…
Hold on
And hold on
And let go
Let go
And fall deeper
Even than love.”
16.  Days of Candy | Beach House
To me this song is very evocative of the mingled feelings of grief in the immediate aftermath of a loss. Grief is never a pure, singular feeling, but a sticky amalgam of missing and wanting and sweet memories and a deep pit of pain. The sort of slow, half-asleep sadness full of watery light that this song evokes really takes me there, to the place where the grief is real but the loss is still almost unreal, where the feeling of that person still hasn’t left, your senses are still full of them, you just heard their voice yesterday, they might come into the room at any moment. It’s the almost— joyful?? part of grief that you don’t realize has any joy in it yet because you haven’t yet started to forget. You can’t imagine being able to forget, and you have no idea how much worse it will be when you can’t immediately evoke their presence anymore to comfort yourself. When you can’t pretend anymore that you’ll be able to see them again.
17.  Last Song | Gackt
Idk why exactly but Gackt is very yearning LWJ vibes in this song. Is it the earnestness? The intensity? The incredibly romantic lyrics? The deep, smooth voice?.. All of the above?
Anyway, if the previous song was nonverbal grief, this song is the start of the solidifying of grief, moving past rage and disbelief and self-destructive denial and gradually into a crystallization, a narrative of what the loss meant. Instead of a great crushing thing that blots out the sky and swallows your entire life, the grief becomes just another part of you— a defining part, maybe, but still part of a greater whole. And you move on. Or you try to.
18.  Sleeping Alone | Lykke Li
This is 13 years of going where the chaos is, searching and playing Inquiry and never giving up, resigned to sleeping alone in strange places but still just never ever giving up.
“Now was not our time, no, I let you down.
Someday, somehow, somewhere down the line… we’ll meet again.”
19.  Busby Berkeley Dreams | The Magnetic Fields
Does every deep-voiced man singing a dramatic love song remind me of LWJ now? Maybe. At least I refrained from filling the entire playlist with Stephin Merritt songs.
“I should have forgotten you long ago, but you’re in every song I know” is just… the most Wangxian sentiment.
This is a bit of a modern AU LWJ, one who would definitely cry into his True Romance magazines. I do still think that this song very much captures how he must have felt hearing the song he wrote played on a terrible flute after 13 years, though. It definitely doesn’t have a flute solo in it, either.
20.  Ivy | Frank Ocean
This song is peak WWX in a mask, trying to hide from LWJ and his own emotions at the same time. But also, maybe, the start of some emotional awareness and genuine communication. Thanks to Frank Ocean for this entire playlist, practically.
21.  Fireworks | Mitski
Another song about memories and dealing with the past even when it comes back to stab you in the side. (s/o to Jin Ling, low key my favorite character, never afraid to cry in any situation)
“I will be married to silence
The gentleman won't say a word
But you know, oh you know in the quiet he holds
Runs a river that'll never find home.”
22.  Hell | Waxahatchee
This is a song about apologizing to someone for putting them through hell. To me it’s a very adults-in-love song, and there’s a sort of gentleness to acknowledging the pain and mistakes of the past while still having hope that maybe love is really worth it after all— especially if you’re “one of those who canonize a love so true it never dies.”
23.  A letter to my younger self | Ambar Lucid
I have to admit that the title of this song makes me think of yiqie’s truly excellent time travel fic that is very heartbreaking and very beautiful. I don’t want to spoil it if you haven’t read it (go read it), but it’s safe to tell you that it grapples with and transcends all the reasons I usually avoid time travel fics, like the idea of helplessness in the face of fate, and how much control we really have over our own decisions, and what it means to let people make their own mistakes.
24.  Let’s Pretend We’re Bunny Rabbits | The Magnetic Fields
This one really speaks for itself.
Besides, “Let’s pretend we’re bunny rabbits until we pass away” is just a cuter way of saying “Everyday,” right?
25.  ”愛してる”からはじめよう  (“Let’s start from ‘I love you’”) | Miyavi
I personally feel that Miyavi has big sunshine WWX energy. This is just. A very cute and soft love song. Feels like napping in some tall grass in the summertime. Waking up next to your lifelong crush and remembering how lucky you are. Wandering from town to town with your true love and your donkey. That type of energy.
26.  Angels | The xx
The last three songs on this list never fail to give me Big Dramatic Feelings.
I think what this song captures well is the feeling of just drifting along, lost in your thoughts, showing up somewhere— and suddenly seeing the person you know to be the love of your life at an unexpected time or place, and being struck all over again with… all of it. Your heart stutters, everything slows down, and for a second you forget to breathe. Like: Oh yeah. Oh shit. I remember why I love you. I remember how it felt when I was first falling in love with you. And I never want it to stop.
“And with words unspoken, a silent devotion. I know you know what I mean.”
27.  Love Me Like I’m Not Made of Stone | Lykke Li
I think of this as the quintessential WWX love song, from the title to the sentiment of the lyrics to the moody burning joy of the sound of it. It’s demanding and soft and confident and raw all at once.
Props to Lykke Li for the redemption arc of this playlist.
28.  Good to Love | FKA twigs
MAKE MY BODY COME ALIVE. This is the song that really says the most to me about the pain and beauty and the vulnerability and intimacy of being in love. What I love about all of FKA twigs’ music is how beautifully she merges and intertwines the messy physical and spiritual aspects of love. Her music is a sexy secular prayer to Eros imo and I’m here for it.

i agree with you. wyb did an amazing job portraying lwj. plus people tend to forget that the shooting was done out of order. there's an interview in which wyb ans xz explain how they shot library scenes during the day and bu ye tian scenes during the night. the whole cast and crew did amazing for the tight schedule and budget they had.
Hi anon!
Thank you for leaving a comment! When I saw your comment, there were many things I wanted to say, so I took my time.
Just this morning, I found this incredible post by hunxi-guilai, in which they describe what I wanted to say much better than I was able to convey (I think).
The post nails it here:
One of my favorite things about watching a friend go through the whole CQL Experience ™ is their changing views on Wang Yibo’s portrayal of Lan Wangji – I think most, if not all, of us start out at “okay deadpan, do you actually know how to emote?” and then twenty-eight episodes later go “oh my god it’s the wide-eyed microexpression of concern, please help I am a puddle of emotions on the floor.” Crucially, what changes isn’t necessarily Wang Yibo’s performance, or Lan Wangji’s expressiveness – it’s how we all come to learn this character, to pick up on his tics and habits and microexpressions.
That’s the proccess I was trying to explain. We went from:
Tumblr media
“Well, this man may be a little cold and expressionless” (and here he was casting the silence spell on Jing Ling, so he was at least mildly annoyed).
To:
Tumblr media
“Oh, he looks so soft and happy here.”
By the way, @hunxi-guilai has many posts and metas that are seriously the kind of content I was looking for. Here and here you have one of the many, and I’m so very impressed by the quality and the thoughts.
(There's also a linguistic meta, which I love because I get put into words things that I understand as a Chinese-Spanish bilingual but can’t explain for my life).
Well, moving on. If there’s something I love as much as the series, is the BTS and the interviews. Wang Yibo and Xiao Zhan are both so cute, and I love watching their interactions, even if I don’t often comment on this (why, that’s for another post).
There was one where Xiao Zhan explains how they shot the scene at Nightless City/Bu Ye Tian: basically they pulled an all-nighter, shooting the whole scene at once, because they needed the “emotional-continuity” (or something along the lines) and the directors wanted the dawn’s light.
It was a little piece of the great work they put into the series, and I’d love if more series and films showed us these little snippets of their works.
And talking about great work: I was very confused when I once read a post saying that the production had obviously put a lot of budget in the interior designs, the settings, clothings and such. But from what I understand, the budget was pretty low, even though it was based in such a famous novel (I can’t find the exact budget they had, if someone could enlighten me, I’d appreciate it very much).
The scenes located in Cloud Recesses and most scenes inside a building were shot in Hengdian World Studios, so they were already there. Clothing and complements-wise, I think they could have been better (comparing to other Chinese series that had more budget and didn’t have to use so much CGI). And the CGI... I won’t comment on that.
However, these facts don’t change the truth that they did a great work for the tight budget they had. Even if they had to sacrifice the CGI.

Sorry, I’ve come here to vent. I work at a professional theatre and have a matching education. And I keep seeing posts, claiming XZ is a better actor than WYB, based on CQL as well as admiring him (XZ) as an actor for being so invested in his character that he can’t stop crying after the performance. Does this opinion truly prevail? It openly ignores what acting as such entails. Bluntly speaking, if your character is hysterical, and you get the same in the process, you might be kind, but, professionally speaking, you are not a good actor. If you can’t separate yourself from the role, you are a weak actor, who lacks the mental strength and the contact with their inner self to center themselves and act instead of live through the situation. A natural flaw of young actors, especially amateurs, and nothing to be ashamed of, when you are a beginner, but also something to be overcome as soon as possible. That’s why I was stunned, when I saw bloopers, where Yibo, at 20(!), switches between his nature and his character in a second. Incredible. Someone said the part of WWX was harder than the part of LWJ. Again, professionally speaking, that’s not true. I won’t talk about the number of lines: it’s a pretty naive argument. To be able to learn lines is simply a professional requirement. The part of WWX is more draining, emotionally (especially for an immature actor with an unstable psychological core), but in return he has the full range of tools to make us sympathize: he is free to show all his feelings with his whole face and body, if he wishes, he talks a lot, he experiences many moving events on screen, and he is a wronged victim. It explains the easy popularity of the character, and, by extension, of the corresponding actor. The part of LWJ is much more challenging as the actor is restricted by the definitive features of his character. WYB had the visual aspects covered by being a handsome young man, whose background let him harmoniously combine the weightless grace of a dancer with the powerful energy of an athlete - uniquely suitable for the part of LWJ (at least, in my opinion, LXC in motion is a much plainer sight, whether he is walking or fighting, and nobody else had to be on par with the Second Jade, and, well, nobody is :) ). However, the way WYB managed to convey so much through his silence, presence, stance, and looks has almost nothing to do with his appearance or physical skills. That was a subtle, clever, deep, and multilayered creation of the character through tiny details, and this is beyond impressive for someone so young, even with directing. And it’s twice as impressive Yibo didn’t have to hold onto the character between the scenes: he just turned the part on and off, without losing either himself or LWJ in his entirety (except for two tiny arguable slips). This is the essence of acting. He has the proper mindset and the mental maturity for this profession. Thank you for the opportunity to be heard!
