He holds Sun Wukong’s hair under his grasp, gentle and cautious. Strands fall like petals between his fingers and he twists and ducks them under each other, spiraling them into small shapes and watching them come undone, a cycle he hasn’t been able to break out of since the start of this session. He peers over the demon’s shoulder and finds her almost done with sewing the shirt back together, decorating the sleeves with patterns to match the scars and markings littered on Macaque’s body, and something twists at the pit of his stomach when he picks up the comb and starts stroking her hair again, watching the knots come undone and smoothen over, easy and tranquil. He half-expects Wukong to sneeze and ruin his messy work, but it never comes. So he has no excuse to prolong the moment.

Macaque has seen the other kids twist strands of long and short hair into pretty figures, confusing shapes that somehow work with the length and shape of their hair styles and he has, surprisingly, been a victim of having to comb and ready Bai He’s own hair for when she goes to school or simply wants to look pretty even if she doesn’t leave the house that day. He’s not bad at it; he’s lived several months with a human girl of his own, has cut his fingers by accident when trimming the edges of her long black hair and he himself has taken care of his own fur and styled his own hair for a millennia now. Macaque isn’t an expert on this, doesn’t want to be, so he half-heartedly started running his fingers through Wukong’s hair, at first, and murmured over how ridiculous it was to tend to someone’s hair while sitting seven feet away from a decaying demon corpse, the stench of rot and blood already soaked up by the surrounding flowers and larch trees surrounding them, giving them a moment of solitude and privacy that, somehow, he didn’t want to ruin.

It’s a moment of peace and quiet.

And he struggles to keep his fingers steady as he separates long strands of hair and begins to twist them, weaving a spider web of sorts as elegantly as he can manage, painfully aware of the little flicks and twitches that come from Wukong’s tail, the hum of amusement she lets out when Macaque fumbles with one of the strands and hisses under his breath over having to redo it. And it takes every last bit of energy to stay relaxed at the small laugh that comes from the demon in front of him, a frown forming on his face when she rests her hands down on the grass and tilts her head back a little.

“Are you almost done separating the strands?” comes the Sage’s voice, still as raspy and low as he remembers it, laced with amusement and an underlying smugness that makes him bristle slightly. “If you need help—”

“I don’t,” Macaque counters back quickly, trying to focus on the task at hand, ignoring the silence that follows and how it causes his skin to burn up slightly (whether from embarrassment or something else, he does not know and doesn’t care to know), breathing in the scent of sunflowers and apricots.

“Mm.” Wukong’s tail smacks Macaque’s knee gently and she seems to relax, setting aside the finished shirt, thread and needle tucked away safely, and she says, quietly and reassuringly, “Take your time then.”

They spend the whole day together, weaving and weaving and it takes Macaque a few minutes to add the flowers in the braids. It’s worth it, at least.

Absolutely. I would argue that even now a lot of them aren't interested in the cause of Palestinian rights. People who waste energy protesting outside of synagogues or barring Jews from college campuses in countries thousands of miles away from Palestine are not genuinely interested in the cause of rights and dignity for Palestinian people or serious about taking part in real activism to build a peaceful future in the region.

They are appropriating the suffering of the Palestinian people and the work of real activists to center themselves and shield hateful actions and terrorist apologism. The way they have attacked and tried to silence Palestinian people who have condemned Hamas (because guess what? terrorists are everyone's enemy) is so telling. A lot of them haven't even bothered to get educated about basic facts and spew a lot of hateful and harmful misinformation - for example confusing Hamas with the PLO or equating Gazan civilians with the Hamas terrorists who oppress them. Hamas claims to speak for and represent Palestinian people but they do not and anyone saying every day Palestinian people are the same as or represented by terrorists is a raging bigot and on the side of oppressors and murderers.

Literally wtf. I just look at these fake "activists" and I'm at a loss. Wow you yelled antisemitic slurs at some random Jews in a country on the other side of the world from Gaza. Literally what does that accomplish? Do you think people in Gaza who just want to live in peace are thanking you? Do you think that helps them in any way? Of course it doesn't. The only people who that helps are Hamas terrorists. Because Hamas wants to spread hate. The leaders of Hamas brutalize and murder the people of Palestine every day and became billionaires by robbing the people of Gaza. They don't care about the Palestinian people at all. These corrupt Hamas leaders are the only people who are served by spreading hate and attacking random people abroad.

Actual activism that would help the victims of this conflict takes work and compromise. And these so-called terminally online fake "Leftists" just want a movement to treat as a fandom where they can get attention and have an excuse to be bigoted. Like in the US they literally protested the DNC but not the RNC and are threatening not to vote for Harris even tho the Democrats and Harris support a ceasefire (and are actively working towards one) and the Republicans are virulently bigoted and Trump hates Palestinian people so much he literally uses "Palestinian" as a slur against people he doesn't like. It's appalling.

And yeah I hope Netanyahu and his government are kicked out soon. Before October 7 there were mass protests in Israel against Netanyahu and his whole government because he is so bad as a leader and so corrupt. He probably would've been forced out by now if not for this conflict. He wants to be a dictator and is absolutely terrible for regional stability and peace and ending his rule would benefit everyone in the region - Israelis as well as Palestinians. All these so-called activists just focusing on being antisemitic helps him a lot because they are taking attention away from the very deserved and legitimate criticisms that should be focused on him and his government.

But anyway, Hamas is absolutely the enemy of the Palestinian people (as well as of Israel) and acting like criticizing Hamas means you are against the people of Gaza or against Palestinian people or in support of Netanyahu is literally just repeating Hamas propaganda...aka the propaganda of the people who have terrorized and oppressed the people of Gaza every single day since Israel withdrew in 2005. Supporting Hamas doesn't make you woke or progressive or an activist. It makes you a fascist terrorist apologist and supporter of the oppressor.

So many Palestinian people have been forced to flee Gaza because of the brutality of the Hamas regime and then all these Western online "Leftists" cosplaying as activists attack them and shout them down because they don't want to hear that this conflict affects real people and is more complex than a cartoon drama. Real solutions involve work and compromise and nuance. And they aren't interested. Some even say that Palestinian civilians dying should be glorified because it makes them "martyrs." No. Palestinian people are not toys to be played with. They are human beings.

I think it’s very interesting how many people (including ww) that fight vash see the pain, the anger, the emptiness and all in his eyes. There is something objectively really funny about meryl and milly in this. like, they just so happened to find Jessica, get back to the hidden city vash calls home, accidentally save Wolfwood and then just.. decide, jup we gotta help nurse that one. like they have so little context for the whole mess, for this hidden city, anything really. Home took quite the hit and oh man vash feels so guilty about it all but luida makes it clear he is family and if anything, he and Wolfwood saved them. so, vash thanking Wolfwood who immediately points out that he killed. To which Vash acknowledges that is true but also that Wolfwood spilling blood did save a lot of people. That is what I meant in my last post about ‘vash being too caught up in his own way of living’ and his personal moral code. What happened at home doesn’t make vash change his own actions or believes but I think he realized in that moment that he wasn’t fair to Wolfwood before. It was a bit of a reality check id say. He accused Wolfwood of being a coward and giving up easily, but it’s not at all about taking the easy way out for Wolfwood. Its him doing what he can and NEEEDS to in order to keep himself and other save. vash may not agree with it but he’s starting to understand Wolfwood better. I think vash is so used to do things on his own and not having companions for any extended periods of time that it can be easy to forget that what applies for you will not applies for others or be feasible. Or the only right thing to do.

See, we know knives sent Wolfwood to be vash’s guid or whatever you wanna call it. And he has realized vash isn’t your regular human but I think only after seeing the picture with Jessica does he realize truly just how far away from human vash is. Because what she says is yes, vash is not a normal human but she puts all the focus on what kind of PERSON he is above everything else.

Which I think is especially perfect with Wolfwood, who at that point is still very much struggling to understand vash beyond the rumors, the destruction and his unnatural… everything. Mostly because vash as a person isn’t making much sense to ww currently (its ok ww vash is a complicated guy)

Jason is racially ambiguous in that he considers it a possibility that he's descended from various nonwhite people, indicating he either looks nonwhite or thinks of himself as nonwhite. that combined with changing racial demographics in the real world equivalent of where he grew up mean that many authors are telling stories about his childhood with nonwhite racial heritage as an important point.

Tim is not 'usually white'. he's racially unmarked in a way that's only read as white because of white default. he looks exactly the same as the way explicitly asian characters are drawn. he doesn't talk about his european heritage or about how he has white privilege or anything where whiteness would be important to that experience the vast majority of the time. there's nothing less canonical about saying he's asian or mixed or any other heritage people want to give him, because his heritage just does not come up in the comics. also, he's the character who explicitly says 'happy holidays' instead of 'merry christmas' so there's actually more canonical evidence that he's Jewish than other characters of ambiguous religion.

Steph is white and Duke is black and that's pretty well established in the text, but there's also nothing to say they don't have mixed race heritage or ties to majority asian cultural/religious communities or anything like that. comics don't go into characters' backgrounds much anymore, so Duke just doesn't have that much established, and Steph has been sidelined a lot when that sort of story had the chance to come up.

I have a story for y’all, and even though it’s been like a week since it happened I’m still freaked out.

So my great-grandmother died about a month ago (she had severe dementia since I was like seven so I we didn’t really know each other that well). Her husband’s ashes were buried in a military cemetery so we went to bury hers there next to his, but it took a while since covid. Once we’re there, we give the worker the ashes but we’re not allowed to go in and they said she’ll be buried in about two days, but we decided to visit my great-grandfather and great uncle before we leave. We get to him and we put flowers down, and a few of my family members pray for them and we just stayed for a little. I felt sick as soon as we got onto the site but I just put it off as feeling weird bc we’re at a graveyard and it’s not the most comfortable place. We were there for about ten minutes and I heard gunshots. It wasn’t a 21 gun solute, it was two sole shots, and then I hear a scream directly after, then sobbing. It seemed extremely close and I flinched heavily bc like it was completely quiet and I thought I was being shot at for a second. I looked around and no one had moved. I asked my mom if she heard that, and she had no idea what I was talking about. No one heard it either. The sobbing eventually quieted and it went back to silence. (Also I have no history of hallucinations or anything like that, I don’t think I made it up.)
