I just discovered this blog and I have a few questions... What exactly is a whump? Why are there cookies? Why does beans means Heinz? Thank you in advance x
Anookie
Yikes..
Three questions three answers...
What is whump...
Whump is a term often used in fanfiction and fandom communities to describe a genre or style of storytelling that focuses on the physical or emotional suffering of a character.
It involves subjecting the character to various forms of pain, injury, or trauma for dramatic or emotional effect.
The term "whump" is derived from the sound effect used in some media to depict the impact of a punch or blow it in the term of Stargate where the term came from when Daniel Jackson was Whumped!
Whump fiction often explores themes of hurt/comfort, vulnerability, and resilience.

Why cookies I suppose you mean with the whump.....
Oh, you just opened a can of worms here...
Cookies and whump go well together for a few reasons:
1. Comfort and indulgence: Cookies are often associated with comfort food, warmth, and indulgence. Whump, on the other hand, typically involves a character undergoing physical or emotional hardship and sometimes even trauma. The sweet and comforting nature of cookies helps provide a contrast to the often intense and emotional nature of whump.
2. Symbolic nourishment: In many stories, whump involves characters being hurt, injured, or put through difficult situations. Cookies can symbolize nourishment and care, which can be a way for characters or readers to provide comfort and support to the whumped character.
3. Sense of normalcy: Whump stories often disrupt the normal lives of characters, bringing pain and suffering. In contrast, cookies represent something familiar and ordinary. Including cookies in a whump story can help create a sense of normalcy amidst the chaos, reminding readers that there are still moments of simplicity and comfort, even in difficult circumstances.
4. Emotional connection: Sharing cookies is like comfort, it's like a bonding experience between characters. In whump stories, where characters often face isolation and hardship, the act of sharing cookies/comfort can be a way to connect emotionally and show care for one another.
Overall, the combination of cookies and whump can create a satisfying contrast between comfort and hardship, normalcy and chaos, and can help enhance the emotional impact of the story.

Ah, the Heinz question...dare I say it I've been waiting for this....only took eight years (since joining Tumblr) for someone to ask 🤣
....go ask Maurice Drake in 1967 sitting in a pub he quoted "I had my layout pad with me and, fiddling with it, came up with ‘Beanz Meanz Heinz’,” Drake says. Not only did he invent the great line, but “I also came up with the jingle ‘A million housewives every day, open a can of beans and say Beanz Meanz Heinz’.” so yeah it's a jingle that captures your attention...though the haricot beans that make baked beans haven't been made in the UK (we can't grow them) but there is a trial of genetically modifies beans (cross-breeding) to create a bean that can grow in the UK 🤔...

Ain't I full of useless information?!
Hope this answers the questions 🤣

shoutout to the guy who after unsuccessfully hitting on my sister and being politely declined asked her "is it okay if i ask your brother instead" and when she said yes gave me a long and searching look before sighing and going "no. i am not drunk enough to go for a dude. but you look like an angel" happy bisexual pride to this man and this man only. hope you figure it out soon king

laios is perhaps the only character not to get the "they mentioned their favorite food once and the fandom makes it their whole personality" treatment. his favorite food is cheesecake and absolutely nobody cares

remembering the time i drunkenly told a stranger i was a trans man and he started going off about alpha sigma and beta males and how each one was equally important no matter what anyone says and that i shouldn't feel pressured to be a strong alpha male because emotionally intelligent beta males were just as important

south africa was banned in the olympics in 1964, 1968, 1972, 1976, 1980, 1984, 1988 & 1992. a total of 8 times. for 28 years they didn't set foot in the olympics. you know why? apartheid. apparently the olympics disagreed with the apartheid regime in south africa. russia & belarus aren't allowed to take part in the olympics this year. you know why? because of their involvement in the war in ukraine. several countries throughout history haven't been allowed to participate in the olympics because of various reason from their involvement in war to human rights abuses. now if the olympics aren't blind to all that... why in the world are they blind to what israel has been doing to gaza for the past 10 months? why is a genocidal apartheid nation allowed to participate in the olympics when any other country in its place would've been banned?

i had a dream that time travel was invented and too many people choose to travel back in time to save the titanic from sinking (the question of whether unsinking of the titanic deserved so much attention in the face of human history was the subject of both heavy academic and online discourse), which caused a rift in the space-time-continuum that led to the titanic showing up indiscriminately all over the world’s oceans and sea in various states of sinking.
this caused a lot of issues both in terms of fixing said space-time-continuum and in terms of nautical navigation, and after a long and heavy battle in the international maritime organization it was decided that the bureaucratic burden of dealing with this was to be upon Ireland, much to their dismay. the Irish Government then released an app for all sailors and seafarers so they could report titanic sightings during their journeys, even though they heavily dissuaded you from reporting them given the paperwork it caused.
anyway i woke up with a clear image of the app in my head and needed to recreate it for all of you:

When I was younger and researching the autism diagnosis criteria and symptoms, I thought “oh I couldn’t POSSIBLY be autistic.” Because when I read “takes everything literally” I thought it literally meant EVERYTHING and I was like “I don’t take EVERYTHING literally, just most things!” And I just realized the other day that it didn’t actually mean EVERYTHING and that was an overstatement.
