Heyyyy I absolutely love love LOVE your work and I saw this thing that @mandarinmoons posted and it said âSpencer Reid is the type of person to bend down and tie your shoelaces and then give you a kiss on the knee once heâs done.â I was wondering if youâd be willing to write something like that
AHHH omg!! tysm!! i hope this meets expectations :]] (also stalked checked out the account you mentioned and fell in love)
strawberry laces - s.r.
summary; you're meeting diana for the first time and literally could not be more nervous contents; reader is a nervous wreck, spencer is the best boyfriend ever, fluff words; 549
You had just finished fixing your hair, finally deciding how to style it after about 97 different options. Spencer drifted past. He paused behind you to put his hands on your shoulders.
âWeâre going to be late.â He reminded softy. His hands gently rubbed your shoulders, trying to calm you down. You were meeting his mother for the first time today and Spencer couldnât tell who was more nervous about it. But, he figured out a while ago that the best way to calm himself down was to help you calm down.
âI know, Iâm sorry. Does my hair look alright?â You asked, fiddling with a few strands. Diana knew you existed. Spencer had told her nothing but good things about you. Yet, you were so worried youâd mess it up.
âIt looks perfect.â He pressed a kiss to the top of your head, careful not to mess your hair up. When you first did your hair, Spencer made the mistake of saying it was âfineâ. Youâd been spiralling since.
You nodded and stood up. âAnd my outfit?â It was a casual meeting, Diana would be meeting them with her carer at a coffee shop. However, it was hard to judge âcasualâ when your boyfriend wore cardigans, ties, and shirts everywhere he went.
âMhm, really encapsulates the whole meeting my boyfriends diagnosed schizophrenic mom for the first time thing.â He grinned, trying to lighten the mood. It didnât work.
âSpencer, Iâm being serious.â You scolded.
He walked forward and wrapped his arms around you, holding you to him. Your arms came around his back, the sleeves of the cardigan you borrowed far too long. âI know, Iâm sorry.â He rested his chin on your head. âYou look beautiful.â
âThanks⊠I donât know why Iâm so nervous,â You mumbled into his chest.
He nodded and took one of your hands, bringing it over his quick heart. âI am too. But itâs going to be fine, I promise.â
You took a deep breath. You let yourself linger in Spencerâs loose embrace a moment longer before nodding. âOkay⊠yeah, Iâm ready.â With your newfound confidence, you headed to the bedroom door.
âShoes.â Spencer reminded.
You turned around and walked back to him. âShoes.â
He was holding the pair of Converse you had laid out and got down on one knee, tapping his leg. You chuckled and put your foot on his thigh as he helped you into your shoe. Your laugh brought a smile to Spencerâs face. He tied the laces in a neat bow and pressed a kiss to your knee. He patted the side of your leg.
âNext one.â As instructed, you swapped which foot you were balancing on Spencerâs thigh. He gave it the same treatment, an even bow and a kiss on your knee. When you were back standing on both feet, Spencer rubbed your legs with his palms soothingly. âItâs going to be fine.â He repeated. You smiled down at him and cupped his face.
He stood up and gave you a quick kiss. âNow, come on. Before she starts wondering where we are.â He smiled and took your hand. You grabbed your bag and headed to the door again.
You glanced down at Spencerâs mismatched socks and grinned. âShoes, Spence.â
He nodded and turned around. âShoes.â

God-Cursed - IF
DEMO link
You were found as a newborn, clutched in the arms of your dead mother at the base of a tree. No family came to claim you, but the men who came to your rescue adopted you as their own and became the only parents youâve ever known. Growing up in the village of Stonebrook, you never want for much, until the day you first fall ill. Life plagues you with a mysterious condition that no one can diagnose or cure. You never know when it will strike or if it will eventually kill you. Living between fear and hope as you age, you try to come into your own as an adult with the ever-looming threat above you. As years pass, your condition seems to improve, until a mysterious mark appears on your body and opens up new questions.
It appears that youâre marked for death with no answers as to why, and your only chance to survive is to go out and seek them.
Journey through the land of Iroda, a fantasy world where the gods have abandoned their people and magic no longer prevails as it once did. Something is brewing that may change this world forever, and youâre in the middle of it, though your role is a mystery you must solve. Wanted dead by some and alive for mysterious purposes by others, you just want to survive. With the help of a few friends, find the answers that you need, and make your choices.
Customize your characterâs looks, gender, sexuality, and personality. Choose to pursue someone in romance, friendship, or as simply a means to an end.
For those aged 18+ only.

This story will have four main love-interests, detailed below, and one âmysteryâ romantic option. In addition, for readers that wish, there will be optional physical-only encounters that can occur with two of the ROs and a couple characters that your MC will encounter in the world. Should your MC wish to woo one of the love-interests, they will eventually be locked into that relationship. There will be no poly options for this story.
In the world of God-Cursed, MCs will be free to explore all relationships to a certain extent before making any permanent choice. Until then, flirting is regarded as simply another aspect of socialization. If your MC is the flirtatious type, they will not be âpunishedâ for it. A couple of the ROs may be a bit anxious about your MCâs interactions with others if feelings are stirring, but it will not do permanent damage to the relationship youâve built.
Your MC will not only be able to flirt with ROs either. Regular characters that you come across may have flirt options that will not lead to any sort of relationship, but might be useful in flattering your way into their good graces. Perhaps your MC may earn a permanent discount with a merchant or pull a secret from a cult member after making them blush from flattering speech. Or, your MC may irritate someone who doesnât appreciate the advances, making your task more difficult.
Three of the ROs are gender-selectable (and will be cisgendered to your choice). The remaining two (including the mysterious suitor) are locked into male.
Main Companions (romanceable):
Oswin Twinflower
[AKA: Yarrow] (he/him â gender locked)
A childhood friend whoâs just not the same anymore. Once a free-spirited softie with a perpetual smile and a penchant for mischief, Oswin has grown into a dour adult. After he came of age, he slowly distanced himself from you. In the ten years since, interactions between you have been awkward or downright hostile with no in-between. He doesnât joke anymore. He doesnât smile anymore. Thereâs something lost about his eyes these daysâŠ
-Personality: despite that furrow in his brow that says âstay away,â Oswin actually prefers being in the company of others, as he cares deeply for friends and family. Heâs organized and thorough â valuing the predictable and structured, and being driven to always improve upon his skills. Oswin can also be self-conscious, hard on himself, and a bit insecure.
-Appearance: standing around 6'2"/188cm with athletic build, Oswin has black hair that is slightly wavy and kept to his ears, bright-green hooded eyes, and brown skin with bronze undertones. He has a firm squared jaw, which is often prickled with light scruff. Oswin most often scowls, even when he doesnât necessarily intend to. He dresses in simple tunics with leather armor and boots, and isnât one for frivolities save for a special tattoo & necklace hidden under his clothing. A few notable scars mar his flesh, each telling a story. His sword is always kept at his hip.
-Occupation: Oswin makes his living as a sort of mercenary (though, heâd insist on being called a âhired handâ), mostly escorting wealthy merchants from town to town. He also helps as a local guard and is very popular among the villagers. Having trained with one of your fathers in the arts of sword and bow, heâs renowned as a formidable combatant.
-Fun fact: loves honey â is terrified of hates bees.
Zahn
(gender selectable)
A sweet and fun soul whom you meet along your journey. Zahn is just trying to fulfill their duty to their faith. They seek to help you in anyway they can, though thereâs something torn behind their smile. Where did this fun-loving acolyte come from, and why do they look so sad when they think no one is looking?
-Personality: social and sweet, Zahn is enthusiastic and open-minded about most things. Theyâre incredibly flexible (in mind and body) and see possibilities in everything, being highly adaptable and skilled at improvising. Casual, warm, and always friendly and willing to lend a hand, they can make a very trustworthy companion.
-Appearance: about 5'5"/165cm tall with a petite build, wild blond hair and round blue eyes, Zahn has fawn colored skin with a rosy hue, and a dusting of light freckles with a touch too much wind and sun across their cheeks and nose. They appear a bit tired with slightly sunken eyes and a mite too thin with the lines of their jaw and neck a bit too pronounced â evidence of years of difficult living. If they grace you with a toothy smile, you may be lucky enough to see the slight gap in their front teeth. Zahn dresses in rough linen tunics, usually with layers to make up for how thin and hole-filled they are. They have a particularly ratty cloak that they seem to cherish.
-Occupation: acolyte of Din
-Fun fact: They may be a bit malnourished on the small side, but that doesnât stop them from wielding a bow with scary strength and precision.
Duriânaan
[AKA: Duri] (gender selectable)
A demigod to whom you owe a debt, they seem quite curious about you.
-Personality: charming and laid-back, Duri prefers their own company most of the time but readily embraces tight friendships, of which they never tire â though it is all or nothing for them, no surface-level relationship will work for long. They are perpetually curious and casual, having an air of cool confidence and a love for teasing, which can sometimes make them appear disinterested or cold. They are always paying attention, even if it doesnât seem like it, and often understand others more than themselves. They can stress easily â especially when things stop being fun, be a bit competitive and too independent for their own good.
-Appearance: standing approximately at 5'9"/175cm with a lithe but toned build, Duriânaan has long and straight grey hair, and honey-brown upturned eyes. Their skin is a warm beige, lit up with a bright smile that sometimes shows off a little sharp snaggle-tooth. They bear a strange scar on the back of their neck and are missing a bit from the upper part of one ear. Duri wears simple clothing made from a single and very long swath of blue-grey linen, wrapped around them in such a way that youâre not quite sure how it stays up. They also hate shoes for some reason and are always barefoot.
-Occupation: just takinâ the air, you know, not fishing.
-Fun fact: Duriânaan has a hobby of stealing miscellaneous things from others just to watch how they react (they always return what they take, leaving the items in strange places).
RĆ«ndis Lyreheart
[AKA: Rune] (gender selectable)
A serious and powerful mage with an oddly fervent dedication to the God of Destruction, Casimir. Though they are capable of wielding great power, they prefer to spend their days as a traveling bard â saying itâs for the purpose of angering their mother. Theyâd have you think they could not care less about your plight, yet cannot resist lending a hand.
-Personality: RĆ«ndis is an introverted day-dreamer who is curious and in search of deeper meanings at all times. Though they dream, they also have a rational side that comes with a penchant for efficiency and decisiveness. They tend to be calm and analytical, but are prone to anxiety especially in close relationships, making them seem a bit aloof or combative.
-Appearance: standing around 5'7"/173cm, Rune has shoulder-length curly hair that is all black except for a flash of purple on one side. They have almond-shaped purple eyes that are a testament to the magic that flows easily through them, and a beauty mark just under their right eye. They have a strong build and brown skin, wearing a stoic and serious expression that you wouldnât expect from a bard. Rune favors fine robes and cloaks in colors that match their eyes, but only when they choose to stand out, otherwise they prefer common clothing. Tattooed upon their chest as a sign of devotion is the sigil of Casimir. They also adorn themselves with different types of jewelry.
-Occupation: traveling bard (primarily)
-Fun fact: Rune can play about any instrument you put in their hands, but their favorite is the lyre, which they play so well that many audiences have been left in tears.
Other Characters:
-Dov Northbreaker [Your papa]
Your loving papa is a mighty woodsman with an even mightier heart. The typical gentle giant, Dov has raised you with love and care since you were a babe. Heâs deadly with an axe, though he only uses them on trees.
Dov is soft-spoken, very introverted, and shy. He has an affinity for animals and carpentry. He loves to create and fix anything and everything especially for his child or husband. Dov is also a very deep feeler and, though the quiet type, wears his heart on his sleeve â easily tearing up when moved.
Your papa is extremely tall and has very wide shoulders with massive muscles built by chopping trees down by hand for many years. His skin is tan, his eyes are brown, as is his shaggy hair, but his beard has patches with dark red running through it.
-Kip Northbreaker [Your da]
Your fiery da and spouse to your papa, heâs as quick to sass you as he is to shoot a bow. This lovable clown understood absolutely nothing about children, but adopted you regardless when you needed a home. He loves you with his whole being, even if he never lets you win at darts. He works as a huntsman and fisherman, and though his skill is unmatched, his looks and demeanor never seemed to fit his choice in work.
Kip may be the compete opposite of his husband, being extroverted and, often, loud. He tends to be the life of a party, and seeks to make everyone laugh. You grew up with him pranking you as often as possible without doing too much psychological damage.
Your da is above average in height and has an agile build with a good amount of muscle from wielding a bow regularly. He has fawn colored skin, short and wispy brown hair, and hazel eyes. He keeps his beard cropped short and always seems to be smiling. He has a love for expensive clothing and pops of bold color.
-Lakota Twinflower [AKA: Aster]
Your best friend since childhood, Lakota is an affectionate soul who would never hurt a fly â though heâd give it a stern talking-to. Being sickly as a child, you were brought together a great deal, especially since his parents are the town healers. You were practically joined at the hip, enough that people believed you were siblings.
Lakota is sweet and gentle all around. Taking after his father, he loves to help others and is skilled in medicine. Heâs a soft sort and a little bit gullible, which his sisters frequently took advantage of growing up. He was always closest with his big brother, Oswin, and you. He takes what he perceives as failure very hard, so he strives to do things perfectly.
As an adult, your friend is fair-skinned, with wild curly blond hair that reaches his shoulders. Being almost average in height, his frame is quite lean and wiry from his years as a sickly kid. He has deep brown eyes, cannot grow a beard for anything, though he has tried about every tonic combination to encourage one.

Random headcannon #987
Severus is a feminist and a champion to one he decides to love.
In the U.S. alone close to an estimated 6 million women suffer from PCOS (myself included) , this does not include those that have not been diagnosed.
****************************
Severus would absolutely be appalled and down right foaming at the mouth when he finds his woman curled up on the bathroom floor crying from pain.
Severus (Concerned, bends down to help you): Darling, what is the matter? Are you hurt? Talk to me?
Y/N (whimpering and writhing in pain): yea, I'm OK. A cyst probably burst. I already took the maximum dose of acetaminophen for today. So hopefully it will take the edge off.
Severus (worried about you): what? What do you mean a cyst has ruptured?! Where?! Max dosage? Woman, that's about 2000mg!
Y/N (grunts and pants through the wave of pain): An ovarian cyst probably burst, and/or I'm having severe menstrual cramps. Yea, short of prescription pain killers, that's what I have on hand. Don't worry I made sure to eat so it doesn't fuck me up more.
Severus could only listen in horror. His woman looked and sounded like she was dying, and all she explained was that a cyst, an ovarian cyst at that exploded internally, and she said was it's was ok?!
Severus: Lovey, we need to get you to the hospital. (Helps Y/N into the room)
Y/N: no, that's OK. They won't do anything. The most they will do is maybe a scan, blood work, and maybe ibuprofen before sending me home with instructions to rest, use a heating pad, and more Tylenol. It's not worth the cost of the visit. I'll fine Sev, honest. Not the first time it's happened and won't be the last.
Severus (mouth dropped open, aghast): what?! What. Do. You. Mean. They. Won't. Do. Anything. You're literally agonizing in pain. They have to do something, they just can't dismiss your problems. It's happened before? When? Why? How?
Y/N (Climbs into bed and curls up): Severus, baby, I hate to break it to you, the medical community don't give a shit about us women. I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS. There is no cure and only like 4-5 medicinal options to manage the symptoms. It took me nearly 20 years to recieve a diagnosis. Dr's called me crazy, depressed, hallucinating, that everything was normal.
Severus felt white hot anger course through his veins. His Y/N was in clear pain, distress, and who knows what else. The muggle doctors failed to help his love.
Severus asked y/n many questions in regards to it until he saw she was nodding off to sleep, the pain finally retracting enough. His mind was already running with possible potion ideas. He needed more information. He walked over to the small library y/n had built over time and pulled every book she had on PCOS. By the 3rd book it was obvious to him, that the information was repeating/recycling itself:
-hormonal problem -uncontrollable weight gain -excess body and facial hair(all the depilatory supplies made more sense) -female patterned hair loss(it explained why she always wore her hair up and always with a hat or scarf) -depression -super heavy and painful menstrual cycles or lack of one -cysts developing not just internally but also outwardly -infertility -high insulin levels
Treatments: hormone contraceptives, metformin or other type 2 diabetic medications, spironolactone or other hair growth inhibiting medications, losing weight, and excersize.
Severus peaked into the bedroom when he heard y/n whimper in her sleep. Another cramp of pain was hitting. His grip on the book tightened until it started to smoke and smolder from his magic, acting to his emotions. Taking a deep breath to calm himself, he weighed his options. He would have to delve into extensive research. What good was his potions mastery if he didn't utilize it. The rest of the weekend was spent with him taking care of y/n through what seemed to him a very hard and agonizing menstrual cycle.
^food in bed ^long soaks in the bathtub with his own personal muscle relaxant ^snacks and chocolate galore ^pampering of every kind you could think of
Once y/n was right as rain, Severus consumed research like a man possessed. Muggle medical reports, studies, and pharmaceuticals. Hell, he even researched for it in the magical world. Boy, was he sorely disappointed. If he thought muggle medicine was lack luster in regards to PCOS, then the magical community was left in the dust! Nothing, zip, zero, nada was found in correlation to PCOS. There is nothing to even address the barest of symptoms! Severus had never been so....so......so......horrified! Armed with rage, spitefulness, and indignation on behalf of y/n, Severus plunges into the world of the unknown for PCOS. Experimental potions safe for muggle use, others for the witches. Thankfully, he has some basis from when he modified the wolfsbane potion. As his research progressed, he discovered that the magical birth rates were low due to not only the inbreeding for blood purity, but in actuality, PCOS was also common amongst the magical woman folk. This led him down another rabbit hole that played on genetics.
After many failed results, Severus managed to find the right combination for y/n. It wasn't a cure by any means of the imagination, but it was far cry from the plebian options offered. His elixir, taken consistently, would lower the excess androgen levels and keep the cortisol level low. It worked better than the aforementioned muggle drugs. He still had problems finding a solution to the whole ovulating problem without causing severe side effects worse than the muggle drugs, but by the gods, he was working on it. Y/N's hair was already growing back fuller, thicker, healthier. Even the beard and mustache she let herself grow out for the sake of research (and laziness. Why should she worry about her beard if it didn't bother Severus. If anything, he was slightly jelly at how glorious hers was; it wasn't fair) had begun to thin out, practically patchy in some spots. But most importantly, to Severus, seeing the how y/n flourished, the femininity of her unrestrained from the dismorphia caused by PCOS. Free from the debilitating pain and suffering. It was breath taking, it made everything he had done worth it to see his love and hopefully the rest of the women population heard and seen.

hi!! im the person that sent the anon ask thank u for responding!! đ€đ€ do they have to do the "checking if it's another disorder thats causing it" if doctors already think i have other disorders (in addition to the CDD) / i (also) have a psychotic/mood disorder but they think its separate and not caused by the CDD/dissociation? in her notes but not "on paper". also im scared to take medication/talk to a psych (bc of trauma related to it lol), do they Have to do that or can i just do therapy?
First and foremost, let's get this out of the way:
A diagnosis is NEVER required
You can get therapy and access MOST types of treatment without ever having anything on paper, and as much as I say, "don't be scared of diagnosis," there are SO MANY reasons why someone may not need or want it.
And that's okay.
And even more importantly, it's no one else's business why you've chosen to do or not do anything. You don't need to justify your decision to not get diagnosed.
What's important is that you're getting the help you need.
Point blank, that's it.
While a diagnosis is great for getting coverage and setting out treatment plans for the future, you can usually get covered under a different or "lesser" diagnosis if you prefer. For example, getting all therapy under a PTSD diagnosis. Totally doable and just fine.
I've done therapy for things I'm ACTIVELY struggling with, without ever mentioning my system. My OCD is usually what sends us over the edge, that's what we struggle with the most. So I have some therapists that know about my OSDD, and some that don't.
All that matters is whether I'm getting the help I need and want at any particular time.
Here's a sneaky tip, if you change doctors, you don't even need to tell your new doctor. I'm old, that's not a secret, and I don't necessarily need the same accommodations I did when I was younger, so when I moved and changed doctors, I actually chose not to take all of my files with me. I'm giving it a go with OCD and anxiety alone.
Granted, my therapist is still available whenever I decide I need to go back. Don't be afraid to keep your options open.
It's your journey, and you take whatever steps work for you. Nothing is required. Take your time, move at a pace that's comfortable. It took me a while to come out to my therapist, but it's never too late, and you may never have the need. That's also perfectly okay. You may never want to go further than the person you're talking to now, and that's okay.
Take it one session at a time.
I've rambled enough, I think.
It sounds like you've already done a fair bit of work, I don't think you're that far off of a diagnosis, if that's something you want to pursue. The more work you've already done, and the more aware you are, the quicker it's going to go, and you sound like you're off to a good start.
I hope this helps, genuinely â€ïž

Do you have any Sam headcanons?
yes i DO have sammy headcanons!!!!!!! les go :D
i already talked about this but basketball player sammy. she played mostly as a shooting guard/point guard. quick and strong, good with the ball, and an absolute coach favourite back in the day. sam quit when she was 15, a little after her dad left the carpenters and her mom's alcoholism became worse, when she also got caught on her own drug and alcohol addiction plus her own issues with mental health.
sam sings :) she has a very nice voice but doesn't sing in front of other people that much. tara has the privilege of hearing it the most, she always had, since sam used to sing lullabies for her to bed. when tara starts playing the guitar, sam usually sings along.
she left in the middle of the night, to make sure tara was fast asleep and she wouldn't have to look at her face as she left the carpenter household for good. she spent five years in constant guilt for having left her there, but sam didn't think she was the best option to raise her sister; not did she think she had the right to, since she had been so absent during part of her childhood.
sam has had both boyfriends and girlfriends before, and her bisexuality wasn't a secret for her mother or anyone, really. it only added to the list of things about her that christina wasn't pleased with - not that sam cared.
she was 21 when she "saw" billy for the first time; it was late at night, and sam was so scared she punched the mirror to try and make him leave. she got diagnosed 4 months after the first incident.
she hasn't drinked since she started taking her antipsychotics; the one time she mixed her pills with alcohol wasn't a pleasing experience.
sam also still struggles with her old habits and addictions, but hasn't relapsed in a while and proudly celebrates every milestone of being clean.
she sees a lot of her younger self in tara, and this is why she's so worried that her sister will fall into her own unhealthy coping mechanisms. their family's history with addiction and her sister's own mental health issues aren't things that sam takes lightly, in general.
sam can also cook kinda well? not like at a professional chef level, but enough to be able to survive on her own. sometimes she exaggerates a little bit on the salt or the food is too spicy, but no one complains about it.
she always gets tara's favourite meals right, though.
sam's just so caring in general and not really vocal on her way of showing affection; she's an acts of service girly and does anything and everything she can to make sure her loved ones are well. she's the type of person to remember tiny details about people, to help even when she isn't asked to.
#i love her i love her i love her#thank u for sending this anon <333#sam carpenter#scream#ma talks scream#ask#anon

Appropriate Surnames, and Aggravating People
I'll be honest enough to admit this article got me good and riled up, mainly because of a lot of what it doesn't say. I will also say their surname is very appropriate (as someone who has recently finished re-reading "Pride and Prejudice" for the nth time). So, rant incoming...
The first thing to note is when well-to-do upper-middle-class Americans start talking about "population", they're generally talking about race. Overpopulation means "there are too many brown people"; underpopulation means "there are not enough white people". This is definitely the case with the Collinses, and the various people who are involved in their "cause". They are proudly conservative right-wing Americans, which means their response to the whole issue of "underpopulation" (as stated previously, "not enough white people") is to urge people like them to breed more and replace the population. Great Replacement thesis, anyone?
I can see why the Collinses put themselves forward as mouthpieces for their movement. To put it bluntly, they're fools and cranks, and they're that particular variety of well-off fool and crank who believes all they have to do is get the rockets off the ground, rather than worry about where they land ('"That's not my department" says Werner von Braun'). They have set off boldly down the road - fixing the potholes they cause is someone else's job. They're also of that particular brand of data-driven fool from the US Tech sector who believes very strongly in the inevitable logic of "the right thing" making its own case. It is notable the one area of data this particular type of data-driven fool never pays attention to is historical data - they borrow from the solipsistic logic of the objectivists and the libertarians there, essentially deciding "history starts today" and refusing to look at what the problems with their solutions (often of the sub-type "simple, cheap and wrong") have been the last few hundred times people have tried them.
What they're describing is the classic upper-middle-class breeding program - people who are wealthy enough to afford children should be having as many of them as possible, people who are too poor to afford children should be breeding so their children can be adopted / fostered by the wealthy upper-middle-classes as an act of charity, and well-to-do white autistic people should definitely be trying to out-breed the neurotypical masses because autism is its own superpower (just look at Elon Musk!).
Sidebar: I am particularly annoyed about the highly-autistic side of this, because quite frankly it is very much a case of "if you have enough money to throw at it, nothing is a disability" - the people who are busy proclaiming autism as a superpower are usually people who were diagnosed young, didn't have particularly severe autism to start with, had all the therapy in the world thrown at them from a very young age, and who have enough money, status, and familial support to be able to set up their lives to work around the constraints their autism places on them. They are able to arrange their worlds to suit them. Nice for them. If you aren't able to arrange the world to work around the constraints of your autism (for example, if you're working class, where you're basically given the options of conform or die) then yes, the same level of autism does become a disability. I'm saying this as a "high-functioning" person who has what's called "category 2" autism here in Australia - even with a good strong social safety net, at least fifty percent of the reason I went to the trouble of getting a diagnosis is so I could get the supports I need, rather than having to struggle all the time and argue uphill against disinterested systems in order to even get my needs recognised.
Anyway, reading about the Collinses is an exercise in the peculiar type of frustration which comes from having to deal with the sort of conservative thinker who doesn't want to see beyond the end of their own arms, and who works very hard to avoid doing so. Mr Collins doesn't believe in funding maternity leave - "The ânumber one pronatalist policy position,â he tells me, is for governments to make it easier for women to work from home and have flexible hours. The Collinses believe in childcare, but not maternity leave" - which would be fine, except that a lot of the jobs women do (outside Silicon Valley, where they are mentally still resident, even if they're physically living in Pennsylvania) aren't ones which could be done from home. For example: care work - childcare, disability care, elder care, nursing care; teaching; most service jobs - all of these aren't things you can do from home. (Effectively, they're willing to pay for a woman who works in childcare to go to work and care for someone else's children after they've given birth, but they aren't willing to pay for her to have time off to care for her own. It takes a very special type of data-driven thinking to come up with that one).
âWithin and between countries, the less money somebody has, the more kids they have. This is a very well-studied phenomenon,â
Yes, it is. The main reason a lot of people in poorer families in poorer countries have lots of kids is because they also have high childhood mortality - you have seven kids in the hope that two will survive to breeding age, and you hope for sons (and expose the daughters) because sons can bring in wealth, while daughters cost money in dowry. In places like the USA, where the social safety net is atrocious, where pregnancy care and post-pregnancy care are expensive, and where sex education consists of "abstinence only", poorer families have larger families for one very straightforward reason: they don't have any options for how not to do so within the income they have.
"Eugenics is state-sponsored selective breeding to influence the dominance of certain genes, he argues. What he and Simone are doing is polygenics, using technology to give parents the choice over which traits they value most."
'It's not eugenics when we're the ones doing it', in other words. It's not eugenics when the government isn't involved.
Mr Collins is, in fact, wrong here. Eugenics, as a philosophy about human breeding, came out of the interpretations of Darwin's work on natural selection done by Darwin's half-cousin, Francis Galton, however it was predated by countless societies where a crude version of population control and santization of the breeding pool was performed by exposing disabled infants (or excess infants from families too poor to support them) to the elements, drowning them in a nearby river, burning them alive in the fire and all the various other means by which infanticide was enacted. Galton, who was a proper Victorian gentleman complete with country estate and so on, was aware of the work being done with selective breeding during the era in order to increase the size of cattle, sheep, pigs etc in order to feed a growing population and felt that this work could also be beneficially applied to humans, to weed out things like hereditary diseases, weakness, and "feeble-mindedness" from the human gene pool. He communicated these ideas to a large number of his like-minded colleagues, via articles such as "Hereditary Talent and Character" and books like "Hereditary Genius" and they gave these ideas the label of "eugenics" (from the Greek term for "good breeding stock") rather than the more blunt Anglo-Saxon of "selective breeding" because snob value (and also good advertising). One of the core ideas behind eugenic thinking can be boiled down to: "the wealthier you are, the better your genes must be".
There is a wealth of social science research out there which proves it's not just the genes, it's all the other little advantages wealth brings with it which work as a cosmic thumb on the scales in favour of the "inevitable" success of the scions of the wealthy. But again, this data and this science isn't of interest to the sort of "data driven" person that Mr and Mrs Collins embody. Funny that.
To be honest, I'm looking forward to the "fifteen years later" follow-up article to this one - because I suspect at least one of the Collins children is going to come right out and say "I was raised in a cult".

Four Years' Worth of Ramblings (and Pondering Life at Twenty)
Itâs been about four years since I was even remotely active on here, even longer since Iâve made original content on this website. Well, in those four years since Iâve last used this blog, itâs safe to say Iâve officially grown up. I think I made this account when I was about 13. At that time, turning 20 genuinely felt like it would never come. As time tends to do, of course, it progressed - so here we are.
Given that I live in a country that would rather focus on banning social media apps and protecting genocidal governments that line their own pockets instead of, you know, helping its own citizens like a government is supposed to do, and one that is certainly fucked no matter who we end up electing this year, it just felt right to return to the website that radicalized me in the first place (especially when really the only other option is⊠*shudders* twitter).
I must say, it simultaneously feels weird and comforting to come back. As I enter my senior year of college (has it really been that long?), Iâve begun to look back at what has shaped me into the woman I am today. I know this website certainly had a hand. As I previously stated, this website truly formed my moral compass, at an age that I desperately needed something to. To those who have followed me in the past, and might still be lurking here today, I genuinely thank you for making me the woman I am today.
Now⊠what exactly has happened in these last few years? Well, a lot. These last four years have simultaneously been the best and worst years of my life so far (and seriously, from how my 2024 has mostly been going, fuck 2024). Letâs start with the negative and end with some positive things, shall we?
I've certainly had my share of shit thrown at me over the last few years, from having to file not one, but two Title IX complaints at my college within three years and going through my fair share of manipulative and abusive relationships (both platonic and romantic), to having - and overcoming an eating disorder. Somehow, I've survived (albeit with some added mental health medications and diagnoses - I expected most of them, but definitely not the borderline diagnosis).
It hasn't been all bad, though. Actually, some of these last few years have been really great. I finally have some real friends IRL (they're a bunch of losers - one is @hunter-blossom-5 if you want to see what the vibe is like, but they're my losers and I wouldn't trade them for the world), and I've fallen in love. Well, I mean, I've fallen in love several times over these last few years, but for once, I've fallen in love and know it's the right type of love: the love where even if the world is ending, it doesn't feel like that because you know that they will be beside you the entire time, and even more after? Yeah, I'm talking about that love. I know he has an account on here, but he's never told me what his username is. I hope that if he's reading it, he knows who I'm talking about - I love you, babe; always have, and always will.
I'm not sure exactly why I stopped posting, but I just did. I actively tried to distance myself from my days on here IRL. If you told me even two months ago that not only would I be revisiting so many of my old interests from my teenage years in my twenties, and being so open about my love for them, I would have thought you were insane. Something in the last few months in my brain just itched and longed for who I once was, the version of me I was when I was on here the most. Throughout a lot of these four years, I was incredibly rude towards the younger me present on this account, trying to bury her deep down to fit in more. I think I've been too harsh on her in my past, and just wish that I could go back in time, take back all the negative shit I've said about her, and just give her the largest hug - she definitely needed that more than the criticism I leveled instead. Well, time travel doesn't exist, and Back to The Future has taught me to never have yourself at two different ages meet. I think coming back here, showing her that as you get older you can still be you, is the best I can do for her in our universe.
Most of you have known me simply as mutantjediavenger on this platform. Some of you have known me as Ella, but for all who comes across this blog today, you can just call me El. You've earned it.

PLEASE DONT READ IT YOURE SENSITIVE TO LGBTQIA+ TOPICS!!!!!!!!:
sometimes i just sit there and wonder what i identify as.
i grew up in an area where i didn't have much representation of anything, "gay" was an insult and colours were dedicated to specific chromosomes. if you grazed football as a girl, you were seen as a tomboy alongside if you even looked at claires you were just odd. i think some messed up part of me still believes that, despite every fibre in my being disagreeing with it. there wasn't much representation of being homosexual in a form or another, mainly just jacqueline wilson books i peered into with such curiosity and utmost wonder.
it sort of struck me that i was different when i was much younger too. hell, sleepovers with girls scared me since they smelled so "sweet" or they were much prettier than me. we all watched films with the odd kissing scene and wanted to peer into the mirror, maybe attempt at looking into it without shame. it didn't stick, yet it didn't wipe off. i kissed a girl on her cheek in my bedroom when i was about nine, fags the most ive ever done, and i don't count it fully either. i kissed a girl on her hand too but still, that doesn't count in my books. nobody ever had the "it's okay to be gay" talk with me but they never had the "being gay is a sin" either. it just sat uncomfortably in the room. all the pins and homemade flags were just pretty colours opposed to something with significance in this world. ive tossed the majority of the relics besides a pin i bought when i had a sense of freedom for the first time but that's about it at most. we still haven't talked about it, and we don't intend on it either.
i remember my mom watching a tv programme with me, her eyes flickering towards me whilst saying "i don't get why people come out. i get where she was coming from, as if it was natural, but she was also the figure who never brought up these sort of conversations. the woman who made me feel a sense of crushing burden when i felt a sense of anger. i just shrugged it off, and never gave my views on the matter. i think if i had the confidence, i would have said something along the lines of "it's because we live in a society where showing who you really are needs courage".
i think i did tell her i was pansexual when i was younger too, this was during a mist of things where id say random bullshit to them as a joke, hoping they'd want to linger nearby. i haven't said a word yet.
gender was another thing that puzzled me, which still does. i never really thought much about it, i just thought you were female, male, or non-binary. that's it. no more options, just three buttons and you could click one. i used to lie awake, my mind thinking about issues for me to go 'holy shit am i trans??' which obviously still happens; why would i be writing this out otherwise? i dipped into being demigirl to nonbinary to immediately agender and i sort of sat there, sticking a label on it like they have to me with other diagnoses. i go from wanting big tits and being the epitome of feminine beauty to wanting to have top surgery and going by a new name. i know gender is a spectrum, but some part of me knows everyone around me wouldn't accept me, thinking im more mentally ill than i am.
i don't know why i decided to type this out either. maybe to give myself clarity instead of chastising myself for what's happened in my world.
ive only ever dated afabs. one cis. one somewhere between demigirl and nonbinary and the other transmasc. i know i hurt them one way or another, and so did they. i speak to one of them a few times now and again but for the other two, i apologised to one of recent and it's stuck to my mind. the other i fucked up so bad it hurts to look into a mirror. i think amabs scare me and i don't know why. i attach myself to older guys in films and loosely to other people, remarrying shane in stardew over and over again. one minute i have a preference and then it drastically changes.
my friend once said that people who are lgbtqia+ must have some evolutionary default in them, which i believe heavily. i have autism and probably some other stuff undiagnosed (my autism is clinically diagnosed yall) so that checks out. i saw a survey a while back that most people who are lgbtqia+ are diagnosed professionally or self with something along the lines of adhd, autism, and other mental disorders. but that's all we are. disordered motions, grasping onto conclusion.
maybe one day i will find somebody and it will make perfect sense. maybe i won't find anybody. for now, i know that i can only try, and when i try i collapse in tears wondering why nobody likes me.
#lgbtqia#lgbtq community#questioning#vent post#rambles#discovery#BuzzFeed gay quiz#AM I GAY OR SOMETHING??#AM I TRANS OR SOMETHING??????#I SHOULD PROAOBLY STOP OVERTJING RAHHHHHK

Dear Hiring Committee
I am on the job hunt again, about a month earlier than I anticipated, but it feels sort of - hopeful? I love my current job and the team I work with. I would not choose to move on if it were up to me, but Iâve been covering for two Mat Leaves in a row, so here we are.
The benefit of the timing is that I do still want a Permanent post. This way, the decision is out of my hands and I am free to look around with full transparency. My âpaper supervisorâ who is my office buddy, is in a similar situation, so we are helping each other search, while also commiserating over the whole thing. Which is...huge.
More rambles on adult ADHD workplace issues and diagnosis...
This is also a position which has seen me make three (four?) very typical ADHD-type office task errors since last summer that, even though I noticed and fixed them instantly, were also noticed and had an impact on others higher up. (All minor but visible things, like updating a Zoom meeting link in one place but not another.) While I am in the process of seeking an official diagnosis, itâs also a good time to make a job change and be able to explain all that more fulsomely to my supers as I head out. I know that my grand-boss is aware and very supportive, but I am out of time to show what my âdiagnosed and possibly medicatedâ work self would be like. Which is the only sucky part of all this.
Those errors, I think, coincide with days of rising academic stressors when I was trying to do everything everyone asked of me, as fast as possible. I knew that Grad School was going to do a number on my head, in terms of coping mechanism, which is why I got on the ADHD assessment list before term started. But with the provincial wait list so long, I am going to go very much against my socialist health ethics and go private.
Friends of mine who have gone through this process have been incredibly supportive, describing nearly parallel experiences - and also the post-diagnosis world. They talk about that one job or school program which was the critical turning point of realizing that Oh Wait Maybe Itâs ADHD, and seeking a diagnosis.
One of their common warnings is the period of shame that the the first few months of medication brings: realizing what itâs like not to struggle ALL the damn time, and to have to expend SO MUCH energy on managing all the things - and how much time and how many opportunities have been âlostâ over the years. (Quotes deliberate: as a wise friend put it, you would never yell about lost time at a previous wheelchair user who has received therapy that made the chair optional, the way you would yell at yourself in your head - I hope.)
Onward.

god tw personal family medical issues
my mom said some completely wild shit to me last Sunday and I want to vent about it, but what she said was so absolutely unhinged that it requires like 5 different layers of context before I can even BEGIN to unpack what she said and it's like. I want and need to reach out to people and vent about it but I don't even know how to start that conversation with anyone who isn't already up to speed on my nightmare of a family.
so. my dad is sick, he's been sick my entire adult life with a degenerative disorder but he recently got diagnosed with cancer.
here's the thing. there is zero emotional intimacy in my family. we do not talk about feelings. we do not rely on each other. we do not talk about anything other than shallow surface level topics.
that degenerative disorder my dad has? the only reason I know what it is is because I went through his medicine cabinet back in high school. he has never once in the 10 years he's had it sat me down and said "by the way I'm sick and my condition is called X." even though he is clearly, visibly, provably getting worse over the years he has not and will not talk about it. I don't know what his prognosis is. I don't know what his current treatment plan is. I don't know what things he can and can't do on his own.
he is treating his cancer the exact same way. he didn't tell me he even had cancer until two days before he started chemo. I do not know what type of cancer he has. I do not know how bad it is. I do not know what treatment options he's pursuing. whenever I ask he and my mom dodge the question.
that is an extremely quick and dirty summary of what's going on.
so my mom and I were going to a play on Sunday. as we're getting out of the car my mom out of nowhere says "you know you're going to be rich?"
I have no idea what she's talking about and say as much. she starts complaining that my dad's mom updated her will to split my dad's share of her money between me and my brother and my mom is upset that none of it is going to her.
already. this is such a wild and out of touch thing to complain about. like do you want me to sympathize with you bc you think you deserve a bigger share of some future money that hasn't even happened yet? I'm just flabbergasted as my mom goes on to ask if I'm going to take care of her when she's old. again. wild.
I'm like "what about dad? shouldn't he be upset that he's getting cut out?"
and my mom turns to me with this look of condescending pity and says "[Dad's mom] is going to outlive him, why do you think she updated the will?"
GEE MOM I DONT FUCKING KNOW. NOBODY TELLS ME SHIT AROUND HERE.
this is the first time I'm hearing about my grandma updating her will. this is the first time I'm hearing that my dad apparently has TERMINAL CANCER.
and instead of telling me any of this directly like a normal fucking person my mom slides it into the middle of a conversation of her complaining about not being in my grandma's will.
(sidenote: immediately after she dropped this bombshell I replied "okay, well when dad dies you'll get his money" "dad isn't as rich as his mom" so like. classy all around)
like what the fuck is wrong with you??? there are so many things wrong with this conversation I don't even know where to start. do you think I'm going to care about some imaginary money when my dad is APPARENTLY dying? do you think I'm going to feel sorry for you that you're not getting a cut when you're already set up to live an extremely comfortable life?? why are you jealous of your CHILDREN when this is literally just a consolation prize for having a DEAD FATHER.
if you gave me unlimited attempts to try and guess how my mother would choose to tell me my dad was dying I could not have come up with this in a million years. among all the possible ways you could have chosen to tell me my dad is dying how did you invent a completely new one that's more audacious and absurd than all the rest? it is truly astounding the lengths that my parents will go to avoid showing a single iota of vulnerability. why are you like this? if there was literally any time in your life to at least PRETEND to be a normal family it would be now. my parents can only reveal extremely important, heavy information when it's bracketed by the most absurd conversation you've ever had.
and here's the thing: my mother is a notoriously unreliable source of information. she exaggerates, dramatizes, misremembers, and if all else fails just straight up lies. this would not be the first time she has told me someone is dying because that's more attention grabbing than "they're very sick"
(one time my mother insisted to me she was dying, when I asked if she was serious she said yes. I asked her to please tell me the truth because I was genuinely worried she insisted no really she was dying. I went to my dad and he said no, she's not dying, she had a very bad sinus infection)
so I have no idea whether my dad is actually dying or whether my mother is exaggerating what the doctor said bc she's apparently allergic to just telling the truth. and I have no way to confirm bc my dad will not talk about his illness with me. so I'm just stuck, worrying with no answers & no idea when/if answers are coming. I have no idea how bad my dad's sickness is, I have no idea if it's terminal and how long he has left if it is. for all I know it could be two months or two years.
and it doesn't get better! it's only going to get worse from here as my dad gets sicker and dies (if he does), they're not going to suddenly start keeping me in the loop. they're not going to suddenly start comforting me. I'm always going to be the last to know and I'm always going to be told in the most confusing, awful way possible.
this is just such a perfect snapshot of what my childhood was like. my family is the place where emotions go to die. my own mother can't even be bothered to provide the tiniest sliver of comfort or support when she tells me my DAD is DYING. where do I get it, then? if my own fucking family won't comfort me then who will? no wonder I'm so fucked up, no wonder I'm so desperate and starved for affection because I went practically 13 years before I even knew what affection was.

Leading Rheumatologists in Noida for Arthritis Care
Rheumatological conditions, including arthritis, lupus, gout, and other autoimmune disorders, can have a significant impact on your health and daily life. These conditions often cause chronic pain, joint inflammation, and fatigue, affecting mobility and overall quality of life. If you're seeking expert care for your symptoms, finding the best rheumatologist doctor in Noida is the first step toward managing your condition effectively and improving your well-being.
In this, we will guide you on how to find the best rheumatologist in Noida, what to expect during your treatment, and why consulting a specialist is crucial for accurate diagnosis and optimal care.
What Does a Rheumatologist Do?
A rheumatologist is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating conditions that affect the joints, muscles, and bones. These conditions often involve inflammation and can be linked to autoimmune diseases, where the body's immune system attacks its own tissues. Rheumatologists are trained to treat a variety of conditions, including:
1. Arthritis
Arthritis, including osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, is one of the most common reasons people consult a rheumatologist. It causes pain, stiffness, and swelling in the joints, which can affect a personâs ability to perform daily activities.
2. Autoimmune Diseases
Conditions like lupus, scleroderma, and Sjogrenâs syndrome fall under the umbrella of autoimmune diseases, where the immune system mistakenly attacks the bodyâs healthy cells. Rheumatologists play a key role in diagnosing and managing these complex conditions.
3. Gout
Gout is a type of arthritis caused by a build-up of uric acid crystals in the joints, leading to sudden and severe pain. A rheumatologist can offer treatments to reduce uric acid levels and manage flare-ups.
4. Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a condition that weakens bones, making them more likely to fracture. Rheumatologists help manage this condition by offering treatments that strengthen bones and reduce the risk of fractures.
5. Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain disorder that causes widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue. A rheumatologist helps manage pain and improve the quality of life for individuals with fibromyalgia.
Why You Should Consult the Best Rheumatologist in Noida
Seeing the best rheumatologist in Noida offers several benefits, especially when dealing with chronic or complex conditions like arthritis or autoimmune diseases. Hereâs why choosing a specialist is crucial:
1. Accurate Diagnosis
Rheumatic conditions can be difficult to diagnose because many of their symptoms overlap with other diseases. A skilled rheumatologist uses a combination of your medical history, physical exams, laboratory tests, and imaging studies (like X-rays and MRIs) to accurately diagnose the problem. Early and accurate diagnosis is key to effective treatment and preventing further complications.
2. Expertise in Treatment Plans
Rheumatologists are specialists in managing diseases that affect the joints, muscles, and bones. The best rheumatologist doctor in Noida will offer personalized treatment plans based on your diagnosis and symptoms. These treatment plans may include medications, physical therapy, lifestyle changes, and dietary recommendations.
3. Access to Advanced Treatment Options
Rheumatologists are familiar with the latest advancements in treatment, including biologics, disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), and advanced pain management therapies. These treatments help control inflammation, manage pain, and slow disease progression. A rheumatologist also ensures that any side effects from treatments are properly managed.
4. Comprehensive Care for Chronic Conditions
Chronic rheumatic conditions require ongoing care and monitoring. The best rheumatologist in Noida will work with you to track your symptoms, adjust your treatment as necessary, and help you manage the condition over time. Pediatric endocrinologists play a crucial role in managing conditions such as diabetes, growth issues, thyroid disorders, and more. What is a Pediatric Endocrinologist?
A pediatric endocrinologist is a medical specialist who diagnoses and treats hormonal and metabolic conditions in children. These include disorders related to the glands that produce hormones, such as the thyroid, pituitary, adrenal, and pancreas. Common conditions managed by pediatric endocrinologists include:
Diabetes: Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Growth disorders: Slow growth or excessive growth in children.
Thyroid disorders: Hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and other thyroid-related issues.
Puberty disorders: Early or delayed onset of puberty.
Adrenal gland disorders: Issues with hormone production by the adrenal glands.
Obesity: Hormonal imbalances contributing to weight gain.
These specialists undergo years of training in pediatric care, followed by additional training in endocrinology. Itâs essential to find a pediatric endocrinologist who has experience dealing with the specific condition your child is facing.
Why is It Important to Find the Right Pediatric Endocrinologist?
Finding the right pediatric endocrinologist for your child is vital because:
Expert Care: Pediatric endocrinologists have specialized knowledge in treating hormonal disorders in children, ensuring that your child receives the best possible treatment.
Personalized Approach: Children are not small adults, and pediatric endocrinologists are trained to understand the unique needs of children, considering their growth and development.
Building Trust: Since hormonal treatments can be long-term, itâs crucial to choose a doctor your child feels comfortable with. A good relationship with the doctor can make the treatment process smoother for both the child and the parents.
Steps to Finding the Best Pediatric Endocrinologist in Dubai
1. Researching Available Pediatric Endocrinologists in Dubai
The first step is to make a list of pediatric endocrinologists in Dubai. You can start by:
Asking for Referrals: Speak to your pediatrician or family doctor. They often have a network of specialists they trust and can provide you with recommendations.
Online Research: Use websites, medical directories, and platforms like Google Reviews or social media to research pediatric endocrinologists in Dubai.
Hospital Websites: Many of Dubaiâs top hospitals list their specialists, including pediatric endocrinologists, on their websites. This can give you a good starting point.
Word of Mouth: Talk to other parents who have dealt with similar health issues. They can share their experiences and provide valuable feedback on the doctors they have worked with.
2. Look for Qualifications and Experience
When it comes to medical care, experience matters. You want to ensure that the pediatric endocrinologist you choose has the necessary qualifications and expertise to provide the best care for your child.
Educational Background: Check if the doctor has studied in reputable institutions. A qualified pediatric endocrinologist should have completed a degree in medicine, followed by a specialization in pediatrics and endocrinology.
Years of Experience: Experienced doctors are more likely to be familiar with various conditions and treatment methods. Look for a doctor who has been practicing for several years, particularly in treating pediatric patients with similar conditions as your child.
Certifications: Ensure that the pediatric endocrinologist is board-certified in pediatric endocrinology. This means they have passed rigorous exams and met high standards of practice.
Dr. Mahesh is known for his expertise in pediatric endocrinology, with years of experience treating children with various hormonal disorders. His qualifications and professional background make him a top choice for families in Dubai.
3. Check Hospital Affiliations and Reputation
The hospital where a pediatric endocrinologist practices can play an important role in the quality of care your child receives. Ensure the doctor works in a well-established, reputable hospital. Some of the top hospitals in Dubai with specialized departments for pediatric endocrinology include:
Dubai Hospital
American Hospital Dubai
Mediclinic City Hospital
Emirates Hospital Clinic
These hospitals provide state-of-the-art facilities and have a team of experts in pediatric care, including endocrinologists. Itâs always a good idea to choose a pediatric endocrinologist who is affiliated with a hospital that offers comprehensive care for children.
4. Consider Communication and Approach to Care
A pediatric endocrinologist must be able to explain complex medical terms and treatment plans in a way that you and your child can understand. The doctor should also be empathetic and patient with both you and your child.
When choosing a pediatric endocrinologist, consider:
Communication Skills: Does the doctor take the time to explain your childâs condition? Are they willing to answer your questions? A good doctor will involve you in the decision-making process and ensure you understand your childâs treatment options.
Child-Friendly Approach: Children often feel anxious when visiting the doctor. Choose a pediatric endocrinologist who is known for making children feel comfortable. A doctor who uses a gentle, friendly approach can help reduce fear and stress for your child.
5. Understand Treatment Options and Support
Every child is unique, and treatment for hormonal or growth disorders can vary. The best pediatric endocrinologists offer individualized care plans based on your childâs specific needs. They should be knowledgeable about the latest treatments, medications, and therapies.
Itâs also important to consider the support provided by the endocrinologist. Does the doctor offer regular follow-ups? Are there support groups or resources for parents to help manage the condition? Dr. Mahesh is known for offering comprehensive care, including ongoing support for both children and their families.
6. Read Reviews and Patient Feedback
Patient feedback is one of the most effective ways to gauge a doctorâs skill and bedside manner. Look for online reviews on platforms such as:
Google Reviews
Healthgrades
Facebook
Hospital websites
Positive reviews from other parents who have had similar experiences can provide valuable insights into the pediatric endocrinologistâs approach to care, their office staff, and the overall patient experience.
7. Visit the Doctor for an Initial Consultation
Once youâve narrowed down your list of potential pediatric endocrinologists, schedule an initial consultation. This gives you a chance to meet the doctor in person, ask questions, and evaluate their approach.
During the consultation, consider asking about:
The doctorâs experience with your childâs specific condition.
The treatment options they recommend and the expected outcomes.
The doctorâs availability for follow-up appointments and emergencies.
The process for communicating with the doctor outside of office hours (in case of urgent concerns).
This initial meeting can give you a good idea of whether the doctor is a good fit for your family.
8. Cost of Treatment
While medical care is a priority, itâs also essential to understand the cost involved. Some pediatric endocrinologists may charge higher fees, depending on their experience, the hospital they work at, and the complexity of the treatment. Make sure you are clear about the costs and whether the doctorâs fees are covered by your health insurance.
Dr. Mahesh offers transparent pricing and works with various insurance companies, making it easier for families to access high-quality care.
Conclusion
Choosing the best pediatric endocrinologist in Dubai for your child is a decision that requires careful thought and research. By following these stepsâresearching available options, considering qualifications, reviewing hospital affiliations, and evaluating the doctorâs communication and treatment approachâyou can find the best care for your childâs hormonal or growth-related condition.

Diabetes is one of the most prevalent health conditions in the United States, and Texas is no exception. In fact, the state is home to numerous clinics and healthcare facilities that specialize in managing and treating diabetes. Whether you are newly diagnosed or looking for better management options, this guide will help you understand the best diabetes treatments in Texas and how to find top clinics in your area.
Understanding Diabetes and Its Impact on Health
Before delving into the various treatment options, itâs important to understand the different types of diabetes and their effects on the body. The most common types of diabetes are Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes is a chronic condition in which the body does not produce insulin, a hormone necessary to convert sugar, starches, and other food into energy.
Type 2 diabetes is a more common condition where the body either becomes resistant to insulin or doesnât produce enough, leading to higher blood sugar levels.
Gestational diabetes occurs during pregnancy and typically resolves after delivery, but it may increase the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes later on.
The Role of Clinics in Managing Diabetes
Texas has a wide array of top diabetes clinics that specialize in both prevention and management of diabetes. These clinics offer personalized care plans and work with patients to ensure their treatment is tailored to their needs. The best diabetes clinics in Texas have a variety of services, including consultations with endocrinologists, dietitians, and specialists who can help manage blood sugar levels effectively.
Understanding the Different Types of Diabetes Treatments in Texas
For people diagnosed with diabetes, there are a variety of treatment options available. These range from lifestyle changes to medication and in some cases, surgical procedures. Managing diabetes requires a combination of treatments that suit an individualâs health needs.
Lifestyle Modifications One of the first recommendations for diabetes management is lifestyle modification. This typically includes changes to diet, exercise, and stress management. For many patients with Type 2 diabetes, these changes are enough to keep blood sugar levels within a normal range. Regular physical activity can help improve insulin sensitivity, while a balanced diet focused on low-glycemic foods can prevent blood sugar spikes.
Medications for Diabetes For patients who are unable to control their blood sugar with lifestyle changes alone, medications are often prescribed. For Type 2 diabetes, oral medications such as metformin are common, while Type 1 diabetes patients may require insulin injections or an insulin pump.
Insulin Therapy Insulin therapy is the cornerstone treatment for Type 1 diabetes and may also be used for Type 2 diabetes when other medications do not suffice. Insulin helps regulate blood sugar by promoting glucose uptake into cells.
Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Advances in technology have made continuous glucose monitoring devices available to help individuals with diabetes track their blood sugar levels throughout the day. This device can provide real-time information and help patients avoid dangerous high or low blood sugar events.
Diabetes Education and Support Diabetes education is vital for long-term success in managing the condition. Many clinics in Texas offer diabetes education programs, which are essential for helping patients understand the disease and how to manage it effectively. These programs often include nutrition counseling, exercise recommendations, and instruction on how to monitor blood glucose levels.
