outside of the fact that everyone who has sex is murdered by the narrative, this is a surprisingly chill portrayal of female sexuality? these teen girls are horny and actively enjoying Getting It On with their boytoys. no pushy boyfriends sneaking in through their bedroom windows--these ladies are taking the initiative to sneak out and GET SOME. one of them gets laid and then immediately orders her boyfriend to get her a beer. (yes she gets Slashered soon afterward, but so does the boyfriend so honestly, gender equality.) yes the Final Girl is the only one not having sex, but she's not bullied for that, nor are her friends slut shamed except possibly by being murdered by the narrative

actually the only character who is shown being morally condemned on-screen is michael myers. specifically FOR his violent overreaction to other people's sex lives. (people he is spying on). metaphorically, the villain is American Puritanism sticking its judgy nose into other people's business.

also the parents. where are the parents? it's halloween night and all the teenage girls are home babysitting their younger siblings? come to think of it, michael's first victim was his own older sister, whom he killed while she was babysitting him. teen girls are really shouldering a labour burden here. maybe parentification is the true villain

side note: mike commits his first murder wearing a clown costume...which is never referenced again? his 'iconic' costume is a generic mask and wig and jumpsuit, when we coulda had a Killer Clown Michael Myers??? travesty

It's so crazy to me how, canonically, Jason went to heaven when he died, but that was later retconned so that he went to hell instead

This whole "Jason was always doomed by the narrative" thing got really tiring really fucking quick, because NO. He only stole to survive, and he helped Bruce take down Ma Gunn's whole operation unprompted, without expecting a reward, and when it would've been easier for him to accept the money

Damian going to hell was also shitty, since he was a kid that was forced into killing and brainwashed by a cult, but you can MAYBE make a case for the lazarus influence in him automatically condemning him. You'd have to be very fucking shitty to do that to a kid, but that's available to you.

Bruce claiming that Jason would end up a criminal like his father isn't just wrong. It's stupid. Egregiously stupid. The few universes we see where Jason isn't adopted by Bruce have him become a priest, or at his very worst, a getaway driver. Mainline Jason, who got adopted by Bruce, cut off the head of 7 men and put them in a duffle bag as a statement

Bruce didn't save him from becoming a criminal, he saved him from homelessness, which is noble and kind and good, yes, but pretending it was anything more is reaching, and pretending like he only did it because he saw darkness in Jason is fucking dumb as hell because I GURANTEE there were kids who had it rougher that Bruce wouldn't make the same claim about.

Revisionist history wants me to believe that a child who lived and died a hero only got taken in because he would've become a villain. Meanwhile, we're shown that Jason only ever becomes a villain after meeting Bruce.

I LOVE SONIC AS MUCH AS THE NEXT GUY but if I'm not getting the timeline of Sonic Prime messed up, I'm pretty sure he only knew Sonic for like, a few days at max? Before the dude got sucked into the prism shard, and came back weeks later.

Apparently that was enough time for Nine to make up his mind on Sonic, because even if he was slowly warming up to him before Sonic left, he suddenly came back and Nine immediately went "let's build a new home together in the grim!!"

AGAIN, I'm not sure if I'm remembering stuff wrong so forgive me but 😭 As much as I understand Nine latching onto the first person that was genuinely kind to him, it was sorta funny how quickly it happened with Sonic to the point he wanted to include him in his new home. He even tried to make it more comfortable to Sonic by replicating elements from his old one.

Almost makes me wonder if Sonic would've stayed with Nine if he wasn't so sure that he could get everything back to normal :(

one of the benefits of this newer filming schedule gavv is being produced under is there's less time for a show to pivot away from its plans based on fan reception

not that that's always a bad thing, but in a world where gavv's production stuck with the old model of doing things i think there's a decent chance some producer goes "oh we definitely can't kill either of the twins, they're too popular!" but then they just Exist for the rest of the season because they have nothing else to do in the story and all the love and excitement you had for them at the start begins to fade because the whole thing's gotten stale
