first a reoccurring school in my dreams. now a reoccurring market. how strange it all is

#the layouts are always SO consistent but it's not really the layout of the real places they're obviously based on #like even if certain parts are from real life. they never usually look identical #and I tend to occupy spaces incorrectly (ie- staying still in a space you'd usually only walk through)#and all the stuff that simply does not exist is simply always the same.#WELL. except for maybe the train.

so there's a reason my new job got back to me so quickly about my application and that's bc it's an absolute fucking shambles like actually perfect timing for me to decide to rewatch the bear bc i have never more felt like ive been thrown into a broke on-its-knees establishment trying to crawl its way up the ladder where i am somehow a godsend to them. my old job was crazy and shambolic in the sense that the industry is just Like That but this one?????? insanity. every 5 mins i am questioning what im doing with my life. ive already had a walk-in fridge moment

#so i explained before that there's 3 venues and on my very first shift they had me doing the restaurant venue for 2 hours #which was FINE like i was a bit cautious bc my manager is VERY stressed all the time and the place generally feels like it's falling apart #not the building itself just. the way it's run like it's just got new owners and the previous manager apparently #EMPTIED THE TILLS AND TRASHED THE PLACE like cost them THOUSANDS of pounds and on top of that #there was beef with the head chef and the new owners that meant he left and took the ENTIRE BACK OF HOUSE WITH HIM #THERE ARE NO KITCHEN STAFF ATM. I HAVE TO LIE AND TELL CUSTOMERS WE DONT HAVE FOOD ATM BC OF 'REFURBISHMENT'#WHEN IN ACTUALITY THE /RESTAURANT/ DOESNT HAVE CHEFS. DO YOU KNOW HOW CRAZY THAT IS #and then the front of house staff are very lacking aside maybe 2 people we're ALL NEW and all of them EXCEPT ME #LIKE LITERALLY JUST ME IM THE ONLY EXCEPTION. ALL OF THEM ARE UNTRAINED #so when i applied with bar training coffee training and very solid waitressing skills they genuinely treated me like a saviour #like i am FENDING off shifts tbh im in a v good position bc they need me too much to get shitty w me if i refuse hours but i can literally #have as many as i want bc they will just give me them. like they're obsessed w me im rota'd for over 60 hours this week #but anyway that very first shift after 2 hours in the restaurant i then walked to the mini golf venue on the OTHER SIDE OF TOWN #and my manager stayed for 30 MINUTES. IF THAT. and showed me around the place + how to close THEN LEFT ME THERE #FIRST DAY HE GAVE ME THE KEYS AND LEFT ME TO RUN AN ENTIRE VENUE. IT'S NOT SMALL EITHER IT'S A WHOLE BAR #AND I HAD TO CLOSE ON MY OWN TOO and ironically the shift itself went rlly well like it was so chill #it was kinda boring but honestly i kinda rated it it's v easy money and the close went perfectly nothing cropped up that i was unsure about #and then. AND THEN. i havent even ranted to my mutuals about this yet bc i was acc so horrified by it but i locked the front doors #and went to lock the gate AND THE KEY GOT STUCK IN THE LOCK. WOULD NOT COME OUT. HELLA VS KEYS ROUND 3927593 #my mum even showed up and tried to help me wrestle this thing out i called my manager and he literally told me to just snap it #bc he'd rather a snapped key that NO ONE could get out than just leave it there overnight but bc of my recent house key moment #i was like AM I FUCK SNAPPING THIS KEY. WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING. so i had to just leave it and at the time #i was realllyyyyyyyyyy beating myself up but my manager is actually rlly nice he's just stretched v thin #and ive also had time to be like uhh actually they shouldnt have left a random 21 y/o girl alone with the keys on her first day #omg i havent even talked about what happened on saturday. ACTUAL SHAMBLES #LIKE THIS /\/\ ISNT EVEN CLOSE TO EVERYTHING! IM RUNNING OUT OF TAG ROOM! Like how you wish their relationship should be portrayed today and where are them missing when it comes to making those two acting like siblings?

Do you think in the past their dynamic was better?

How Dick views Jason and how Jason views Dick?

This is difficult to answer because there are like 8 different stages to Dick and Jason's relationship with various dynamics. They also view each other a bit differently depending on which stage we're talking about.

The way I would like their relationship to be portrayed today isn’t necessarily possible thanks to Jason’s integration into the family and acceptance of the no killing moral code. For me, their ideal dynamic is portrayed in Outsiders #44-46. And I know people are gonna find that regressive as hell but, tbh, that dynamic is far more interesting than the kinda awkward thing they have going on now.

Although, I don't mind that they acknowledge their brotherhood in a serious manner now. Like before they'd kinda be like, "Eh... I mean... we were adopted from the same guy but... brothers? Eh..." And now they're more firmly in the, "We're brothers," camp. So that development is interesting.

Character progression wise, it wouldn't feel right for for them to be super close in the way that, say, Dick and Tim are (unless we saw a lot of trust and relationship building between them), but at the same time, there is part of me that kind of wants them to have that older sibling bond (except Jason is closer in age to Tim than he is to Dick sooo actually let's just leave older sibling things to Dick and Cass... not that Cass is much older than Jason though so LOL this is why Dick has to lone the oldest sibling thing by himself... which is funny because Dick is technically no longer the oldest sibling, he's a baby brother now... except Dick and Melinda's relationship really hasn't progressed much sooo you could say they share blood but don't consider each other family yet, in which case, Dick is still the oldest... I mean, regardless, Dick is the oldest sibling of the Waynes... god why did they have to make all of this so difficult 😫).

watching a lot of cooking videos lately (great for background noise while working) and just saw one where a cat hops on the KITCHEN COUNTER while the lady is cooking 🤢 that is disgusting do ppl rly let their animals up there!! that kitty has stepped in its litter box maam!!! or it could shed on that counter!!! and you're prepping food up there rn!! ew!!!

#HOW HARD IS IT TO TRAIN A CAT NOT TO GET UP THERE.#thats a rhetorical question its easy!!! bc my cat NEVER gets on counters she knows better!!#she will sit with my dog politely on the floor when im cooking!! and wait like a good girl #they know if its something they can eat that i will give them a tiny bite #and if not they can still just chill in the room with me but like. idk #maybe my cat doesnt try it bc she sees my dog not doing it and learns from him? she also wont get on furniture she doesnt see him getting o #the exception is the toilet she LOVES sitting on the toilet (closed lid ofc) but thas just her being a weirdo #she also gets obsessed with shoes but if thats the worst thing she does then id say shes p well behaved jdjkfkj #she doesnt even hurt the shoes or chew on them she will grab them nd roll like a crocodile and then rub her face on them #esp sandals or crocs but ive seen her go after sneakers too. so cute #watching that video and seeing how much that grossed me out made me appreciate my girl x10 more. im going to buy her a new toy next time #i go out somewhere #which actually im tking my dog to the vet friday so. can pick them both up some treats <3 #(nothing is wrong w him its his usual grooming + arthritis shot but the vet is across from a pet store so <3 toys n treats for my lil guys)#sanchoyorambles

#chatty!#i have a cat who stays indoors and has no desire to go outside beyond maybe being curious about The Unexplored Room #and i simply go ''no buddy'' if he gets too close to the door (he basically never does) and then he will walk away from the door instead #he is always hanging around me when im home except when hes playing with the other cats #and he cuddles up with me at night and greets me so happily whenever i come home #also hes 15 and still has kitten energy. biggest health issue is his hyperthyroidism which is being treated #vet loves him hes one of their favorite cats and they always tell me how sweet and well behaved he is #sorry your cat is bored and doesnt like you. do you really think she doesnt kill squirrels and birds bc u ''trained her''

Ben Kenobi tells you it’ll be alright though and that you have the force in you #you can come with him and train to be a Jedi just like your father was #you leave planet and on the way have to put up with this asshole smuggler and even free a serial killer just to get to the rebels #but it’s fine! because once you’re with the rebels you’ll then be able to train with Ben like he’s promised #except you get there and there are two other Jedi candidates. each seemingly better options than you #one is a child who already has pretty good control of the force without anyone telling her how to wield it.#she’s also young and thus full of so much more potential than you #and the other is a woman older than you. but she has so much more life experience. she’s proven herself worthy both to the rebels #and to the force itself. she is strong and basically everything you’re not #but that’s alright too because Ben knows you. of course he’s going to pick to train you!! but then they say your name Skywalker with horror #and you are told about who your father is and how if you are trained and given everything you want you will become just like him #you are evil and violent by nature even though you feel as if you are anything but… except maybe they’re right #because when confronted with this fact your first instinct was to attack an injured man on death’s door #and if Kenobi has his time taken up by training either kahki or Jyn/planning the destruction of the Death Star #Luke is potentially left in a very vulnerable state to stew #I just am foaming at the mouth thinking about it!!!!#(I do feel like Andy will ultimately take Luke in a more redemption/I am not my father by ‘righteous’ sacrifice’ route though #which also has a lot of potential to be delicious)

i went plinking yesterday for the first time and had a lot of fun, I've been wanting to familiarize myself w my airsoft gun more since it's hard to find a good secluded spot where u don't have a risk of ppl walking by.

we just hung a tin can from a tree branch and shot it from different distances, but it was very satisfying to pick it up that quick 🌝 i also love getting ppl to try something they don't usually do and learn with you.

#it's so funny that it's a glock. look at it and call it that but it literally is they make airsoft guns too 😤#that n steel BBs were massive overkill for what i originally wanted them for but like... it's here now lol might as well learn to shoot #it's also kinda my way of warming up to a real gun‚ maybe. I've been on the fence about whether I'd want one or not #and have mostly been in the No territory (hence my knives and spikes) until this‚ but i mean w enough practice and experience #maybe I'd want one 🤷🏾‍♀️ i already kind of want a crossbow. i just think weapons training is fun 😶‍🌫️#guns specifically are like ouggh it makes so much noise though like ... there are quieter ways of dealing w things #if i ever need to do something i don't wanna draw attention to myself yk? 🤧 she's got a stealth rogue build going on #but exceptions can be fun 😳#just like... have to be very careful about the where/what bc the last thing i wanna be is a black person w a weapon when a cop pulls up #so.. another time 👉🏾👉🏾 i gotta find myself a similar spot nearby‚ i just got around to practicing finally bc i went camping last night

I do love the detail that Thomas can't brake the train he takes to Wellsworth... because the E2s' brakes are said to have been pretty shit.

#before being turned loose on the branch line thom probably had to go to the works to get vacuum-fitted and given push-pull apparatus #i reckon while he was there they also upgraded his brakes XD #i used to question why thomas never got to take trains during the locomotive crisis??#but after learning that he was air fitted and also that those air brakes were pretty lame it all comes together well #awdry may not have initially conceived of thom as an e2 but it's honestly such a good basis <3 #the weak brakes in his original form are also great coz he's so impatient by nature #it all just fits :'')#fuck the alt-basis game i for one really love all of the canon bases #... except maybe james. a little conflicted on that one.#and i think ed as one of the 1890 seagulls was a missed opportunity— but using any f.r. basis is *so* blessed that i won't complain #ttte thomas #ttte #the railway series

#yes this is a soul train post #has anyone read 'the city we became' by n.k. jemisin?#i just finished the audiobook and am trying to process how much i did not care for it #even though it is about anthropomorphic cities and INCLUDED AN ELDRITCH TRAIN #but i can't tell if i simply don't like audiobooks as a format or if i didliked the book itself #idk man it just felt underbaked #the characters weren't as well drawn as i wanted them to be and the narrative felt too floaty #like it was interested in its concepts but hadn't quite lived in them long enough to make them feel real and definitively imagined #otoh MAYBE I WAS JUST MAD BECAUSE A LADY WAS READING AT ME #and she was reading too slow for a book due back at the library tomorrow lol #anyway none of that is about bleach except that i have never been so deeply disappointed by a non-amtrak train in my life

#pride month drabble challenge #Being from Florida and Mississippi respectively Spanish moss is something that Lacuna and Eris both have nostalgia for.#Eris moreso though being from a more rural area.#That goes for both this and their canon counterparts.#I like to think that wherever this version of them are living together is covered in air plants all over the place.#In contrast to canon Eris's apartment being fairly spartan save for a few mementos and one extremely well cared-for cactus #and canon Lacuna's apartment being an utter mess that sunlight never enters and nothing grows except perhaps shower mold.#Now I'm trying to think what would get canon Eris excited enough to ramble like this.#Not much I think. Maybe rom-coms and only in very select company after a couple of drinks.#Her other big thrill that she would potentially nerd about is monster hunting related topics but she's trained herself not to #what with the whole “feeling self-conscious about enjoying doing violence” thing.

Shout out to my poor poor friend who keeps sending me video game songs trying to pin down my music taste like oh buddy I'm so sorry but Penny's battle theme is so small beans compared to the stuff I listen to

#rat rambles #listening to it did make me kinda sad I dont like it more tho #it has a rly cool opening and I love the beat but its just too electronicy for my taste unfortunately #it also doesnt carry that thump like neat from the beginning for all of it which is another reason the full thing let me down #can you smell the b&w fan on me yet lol #but yeah I dont generally listen to a lot of video game music except for like. a few splat tunes #well ok Ill listen to certain soundtracks if Im in the mood but if Ill rarely add them to my main playlist #I am having fun watching them try to get a sense of my music taste tho even if I know its a doomed mission djdnfjdv #I can feel them underestimating me soooo bad maybe one day theyll just send me a video of screams and a drawer full of pots and pans being #spilled all over the place and then Ill be like ah yes a true banger #tbf I do listen to other stuff too its not Just noisey shit but that has less of a trend to it I think #like I have to train myself to like a lot of slower songs loud shit just hits #and hey Ill even occationally listen to more low key breakcore stuff #not a lot mind you I tend to actively dislike a lot of low key ~relaxing~ breakcore but I digress #go listen to faith and suspicion by autonon its soooo unit swap kanade core #it has such a strong vibe and manages to be not that intense while still holding its weight and not feeling flat #I wouldnt call it a favorite of mine but it is good and I rarely skip it in playlists so thats smth at least
