BG3 Comic: The Last Unicorn

Be Forewarned: Dark Urge Spoilers

This comic was inspired by the excellent idea of using The Last Unicorn dialogue for Astarion’s story from @fangsandfeels and the lovely comic made by @solmesia depicting it. You can see the original post here and the comic here.

When I read the original idea I thought that this also potentially works in reverse for a redemption Dark Urge who is horrified by their monstrousness. I did edit and add to the original dialogue for my own purposes.

(Also I really think it would have been cool if slayer form worked more like an uncontrollable werewolf-like curse rather than a gift you have to seek out.)

Has anyone yet pointed out the parallels between Louis starving himself and giving Lestat the cold shoulder for 7 years and Louis becoming a drug addict who kills his sex partners with Armand cleaning up after him for years?

And how both of these times, where he essentially denies his partners love and affection as a form of punishment and self-punishment, culminate in a big fight, in which he verbally abuses his partners until they snap, getting them to punish him even further - Lestat by dropping him, Armand by leaving him with the untreated burns for days?

And Hazel and I were talking about moms because, I guess they're starting to work on mother's day stuff at school, and Hazel was asking me about my mom, and so I was explaining that my mom is dead, and then Robbie – who I didn't think was even paying attention – said ‘Hey, my mom's dead too!’”

“Oh — jeez,” Steve blinked.

“And then we high-fived,” Eddie finished.

“Okay,” Steve slowly said, “And…what’s your question?”

“How concerning do we think that is?”  

“Uh, no more concerning than the usual shit that comes out of their mouths.”

law and luffy are just like. what if I saw you at the peak of your miracle working competence, and then the literal next time I saw you it was at your most isolated and broken. and what if that moment of seeing you alone and grieving and terrified was the moment where I decided you were someone worth keeping, someone who I personally cared about and wanted around. how does that not make you wanna lose your fucking mind.

and then the other thing on top of that which always gets me is the way that you can just so clearly see that neither of them has any idea how to fit this relationship into any preexisting context - Luffy calls him part of his crew, but law is the captain of his own crew and would clearly die before giving that up; law calls them allies but it is glaringly obvious that they care about each other in a way that goes beyond that. of course Luffy is generally a lot less bothered about this than law, who routinely wants to put his own head through a wall about it, but it’s just such a fun layer to their dynamic I think.

In TCP, Cardan was hella fast pitching attempts to make Jude beg. Seriously, buddy would not leave her alone. It was constant fan behavior pls.

Then we’re here in the beginning of TWK and the first bold move that beautiful lunatic makes on Jude is, “Kiss me again. Kiss me until I am sick of it.”
