Dear WBN fans:

We have been wronged

There has been a grave multi episode story error that derails the entire narrative and renders this story a laughable farce, with the sour taste of a child’s dropped ice cream cone after a week in the gutter

Finally the persona falls and the mask cracks and we see what kind of storyteller Brennan Lee Mulligan REALLY IS

And worse is that Aabria, Erika, Lou Wilson, and the Series Of Important Guest Stars that have played Eursalon while Lou was romancing the stone in Panama or whatever, have supported it

This is aiding and abetting, and they are laughing in our faces with this “what is treason” story beat when in reality they have betrayed us !!!

THEY GAVE THOSE TWO GOD DAMNHORSES TO THE SNITCH VILLAGERS, THEY GOT AIRLIFTED, RHOAN TIGHTENED HIS CORE

This sort of slapshod storytelling cannot be accepted in today’s ttrpg landscape.

However

This pales in comparison to their true crime

It has now been multiple fireside chats without the famous and beloved Dime Pimento.

Clearly, they could never get Dime Pimento and have done a full “fire island” on us

That’s why someone is always filling in for Lou, because WBN only has limited clout , shown by even Lou only there for each first, he was never on a quest of epic legend, they just were too broke!

And worse they got celebrities of all types to fill in the space, billing it as “creative collaboration”, and treating them as guest spots/interns, to get attention without paying their actors

they even had mfing Dick Goose fly them from the West Coast to the East Coast, land in the middle of fifth avenue NYC so Brennan could get a sandwich, and then flew Back to the WC, only for the others to see that the sandwich looked good and then each of them individually were flown to NYC by Dick Goose, full round trip, costing so much money in fuel and killing the environment

ADDITIONALLY, they hit over a thousand bald eagles during this indulgent flight spree, the majority of them being due to Erika Ishii demanding the plane constantly circle Bald Eagles mid flight and hit them, saying only “this one’s for Sully” after each bald eagle massacre

Everyone needs to boycott Worlds Beyond Number, their show the Wizard Witch & the Wild one which is currently in its fourth season and has increasingly epic scores arranged by Taylor Moore & Co. , their extremely rad patreon where you can listen to Fireside Chats & Story Bon. Con. for only five dollars a month, and their upcoming space opera sci-fi game by renown dungeon master Aabria Iyengar!!!

We need to unite as fans and tell these people at WBN NO to any ahoo hoo(s) , and ESPECIALLY NO CRACKLE CRACKLES

I do want to plug The Re-Slayer's take again if you're not listening: it's short and goes very fast (it's edited to have no real table-talk, so it plays like a scripted podcast even though it's actual play) and despite being all ages...think AT:LA or Doctor Who and how fucked up things can get. Also the core cast is great (I was already a fan of Jasmine Bhullar and William Jasper Cartwright but Jasmine Chiong has won me over as Farah, a cranky older blood hunter woman), they've had some great guests (those listening on the main feed - Christian Navarro is about to show up!), and some of the main cast of CR has shown up as very fun NPCs!

Worlds Beyond Yarn - The Fox

375 yards, sport weight, 2 ply wool

I wanted to do something straightforward for the fox. Nothing fancy - just a wool 2 ply. He's a slightly little guy, but not too thin or fussy. Would make a good hat or mittens.

But.

Here's the thing, he only seems straightforward. If you know where to look, he can have depth. You've just got to ask the right questions.

Fractal spinning is technically not a spinning technique, or a plying technique. It's color management. Take some yarn that's got some gradiations, split it in half (A and B) lengthwise. Then split one of those halves into quarters (B1, B2, B3, B4). Your first half (A) will be one of your strands. Your split half will be another one of your strands, so you have one half of your yarn going through the color variegations slowly, the other half quickly. It creates almost a subtle stripe, prevents long periods of the same color, and looks more random than actual randomness.

So, it's still a simple 2-ply, it just looks a little better. Didn't lie about that.

Next up is Suvi, but really - I'm taking a short break to work on some mending and sewing.

I feel like a lot of the people complaining about the unhinged and unsactifactory storytelling of D20, should really try out more long form camaigns with the same people, like Naddpod or Worlds Beyond Number.

D20 is really fun, and in my opinion also includes a lot of really good storytelling and character arcs, but it is a limited format on a comedy platform. Yes, sometimes the "perfect story arc" will get impacted by a limited amount of episodes, the comedic tone, or just the players making fun choices, and that's fine. But if you are looking for a more profound story, the actual play-space has more platforms where you can support your favourite creators. D20 has the capacity to be a lot, but it cannot always be everything you're looking for.

(not saying you cannot analyse or be critical of the mediums you're watching, just keep the format, and how that affects the story and choices, in mind)

I'm sooooo over people in live-play fandoms being 'annoyed' at players making non-optimal decisions like. Jesus Christ.

It's literally a game and no one REAL PERSON is at their best 100% of the time and YOU DON'T KNOW THEIR CHARACTER BETTER THAN THEY DO, YOU ENTITLED PARASOCIAL WEIRDO. Maybe they had a good reason!! Who fucking cares it's adult pretend!!!!

If you were invited to a real tabletop session to watch and you critiqued the players at the table even half as scathingly as these folks online seem to think they're entitled to, the GM (and the players) would not invite you back and you would be lucky if you weren't ejected immediately.

Let's also not forget the vast majority of online critique of live-play tabletop players seems to be directed at people traditionally gatekept from ttrpg spaces IE poc/women/trans&nb folk/openly queer players. I fucking see you, gatekeeping assholes.

Ugh Downfall is so so good. I wish we'd had a full four-part arc (like Calamity), but I imagine with this cast -- and Brennan as GM -- the choice was these three sessions or nothing, and I am floored by them to the impossibility of imagining anyone else
