I do want to plug The Re-Slayer's take again if you're not listening: it's short and goes very fast (it's edited to have no real table-talk, so it plays like a scripted podcast even though it's actual play) and despite being all ages...think AT:LA or Doctor Who and how fucked up things can get. Also the core cast is great (I was already a fan of Jasmine Bhullar and William Jasper Cartwright but Jasmine Chiong has won me over as Farah, a cranky older blood hunter woman), they've had some great guests (those listening on the main feed - Christian Navarro is about to show up!), and some of the main cast of CR has shown up as very fun NPCs!

If you haven't listened to The Re-Slayers Take, give it a shot! The 1st season is now available. It took me a little to adjust to the format and I'm glad I stuck with it.

The characters are fantastic. If you have listened or watched C1/C2, there's some throwbacks and nods but you don't need to have a deep knowledge of Exandrian lore to enjoy it.

I'm looking forward to where the story goes in season 2.

I love how Exandria seems to have only two types of adventurer group

takes a dangerous and time-consuming journey to find powerful weapons to fight the big bad : Vox Machina, Bells Hells

randomly finds vestige of divergence : Mighty Nein, Crown Keepers

Now that it's out in the public feed I highly recommend listening to the bonus Re-Slayer's Take episode with Dani Carr (even if you don't listen to the Re-Slayer's Take, though there are a few spoilers for it within). I think it covers some of the many complexities and challenges of information management and canonicity for an ongoing, very long improvised show! There's a lot of judgement calls to be made - some of the early C1 information especially is a legacy of a less-developed Exandria, and a lot of information throughout is given to the players and therefore the audience via in-world sources subject to all the biases, mistakes, and even deliberate dishonesty those sources may carry. We just had an entire miniseries showing that the historical account of an event might be greatly simplified in the retelling. The Curse of Strife and the origin of orcs have both been changed since the Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting came out for a combination of on the fly improv and sensitivity reasons, just to name a couple of examples. Anyway, Dani's take on this is great and everyone should spend half an hour listening to this while we wait for the SDCC panel to be posted.

It's the final week for Legend Of Vox Machina episodes, and holy hell have they been amazing so far. Three more episodes and one last Bells Hells episode before break week.

And then FIVE live shows announced for 2025: Chicago, Sydney, Melbourne, Indianapolis, and New York. They'll ALSO be hitting up C2E2 and NYCC.

What an October. I'm exhausted.
