Playground AU but the children are powerful supernatural creatures that just so happen to be children the parents drop off so that the poor caretakers have to deal with.

Grian and Pearl are avian fledglings, are are always seen digging up and eating bugs from the playground. They don’t have enough feathers to fly, but just enough to glide, and their love of heights makes it a common occurrence for them to start climbing on the bookshelves and tables.

Gem and Lizzie are fae creatures, and are from different courts. Gem is from the Summer Court, while Lizzie is the heir to the Spring Court. They have this… really creeping unblinking stare that bore into your soul. They trained the small animals from the nearby forest to attack people, and have on multiple occasions, let a bear try to maul someone.

Scott is a unicorn satyr. He can create rainbows, is always photogenic, and can heal minor wounds. What’s the issue you may ask? Scott will more often than not, waltz out of the building, plop down in the soccer field and begin eating the grass. He’s also very fussy about his clothes. One time a tree branch tore his clothes, so he used his horn to set it on fire, causing a minor forest fire.

Scar and Cub are vexes and are basically the twins from the shining. Always at the end of a hallway, asking for something. They also are entirely carnivorous, so they sneak out into the forest, find the nearest wild animal (squirrel, bird, a god forsaken wolf at one point), kill it and just… eat it. Blood gets everywhere, and both use the blood and viscera as art supplies. Scar once gave Grian a bird’s head, covered in glitter, stabbed on a stick covered in a mixture of blood and paint.

Joel is an ogre. He’s also quite temperamental. He’s also egregiously strong for his age and once threw an entire desk out the window. He often gets into fights, and has difficulty controlling his strength. He has currently destroyed a window, 2 desks, 4 chairs, 1 door, 12 bathroom doors, several paintbrushes, a wall, a concrete wall, a metal and wooden baseball bat, and the monkey bars.

Skizz and Impulse are an Angel and a demon respectively. Their true forms are enough to make anyone faint or go temporarily insane, and they can control the ambient temperature around them. Their clans are at constant war with the other, despite the two of them being extremely close, and whenever their parents pick them up, the two families immediately start fighting in the parking lot.

Bdubs is a sandman. He’s able to make dreams literally materialize out of sand, and he uses this to create giant sand kaijus, tanks, dragons, monster trucks, and even a castle, all made up of sand. He also has a bad habit of sleeping in the most weirdest and convoluted places in the school. They once found him on the school’s intercom system sleeping peacefully.

Etho is a boogeyman. He is a living nightmare, able to meld into the shadows themselves and cause horrific nightmares. Unfortunately, due to his inexperience with these powers, he often just ends up tripping into someone’s shadow or unleash a torrent of spiders into the classrooms. Did I forget to mention he’s made up entirely of spiders?

Jimmy is the token human. He’s just a dude who’s entore class is made up of the supernatural. He’s well liked, but often starts or gets roped into one of his classmate’s shenanigans. He’s also chronically unlucky, causing him to always be in the wrong place at the wrong time. He breaks a bone at least once a year and is a regular at the nurse’s office.

This is getting long so I’ll just list off the rest: BigB is a creaking dryad, Cleo is a zombie (duh), Tango is a blazeborn, Ren is a werewolf, Martyn is an oracle, Mumbo is a vampire, Zedaph is a jabberwocky, and Doc is a… goat cyborg thing.

which is hilarious considering that I just finished a smut oneshot (which had a bit more feelings and plot and worldbuilding than originally intended.)

Well, let's try this with my longest current wip (vampire percy au found here ) with stuff from close to far in the future of where I'm currently at.

W - What first drew him to Whitestone was the mix of dead and living resentment saturating the bloodied halls, saturating the very earth.

E - Emon, for all that it attracts evil as far as he can tell, lies peaceful and still the day Jarett Howarth resigns from the army of Tal'dorei.

C - "Child," Delilah Briarwood says in a mockery of a mother's tone, "aren't you a little young to play around with such dark forces?"

K - Keyleth leaves the next morning, Vex and Trinket in tow.

CASTLEVANIA: NOCTURNE SHIT THAT I LIKED WHILE WATCHING THROUGH S2 (SPOILERS)

- this is technically my live commentary as I was watching each episode, though there are some edits that I made after my first watch and some general commentary sprinkled throughout.

- there’s also some things I didn’t like in here, but there’s less of those opinions overall

- also featuring my heavy Drolta bias.

No vampire on this show seems to be able to handle the loss of a loved one normally (except for maybe Olrox, but that’s debatable considering his relationship with Mizrak; and I mean this from a Mizrak lashes out at Olrox a lot and an Olrox fell for him very hard in a short amount of time perspective, not from the viewpoint of me personally disliking Mizrak). They’re either carrying around their spouse’s rotted dismembered head or carrying their entire corpse around; none of these people can let go. Erzsebet had every right not to though, don’t get me wrong; I too would’ve been too devastated to go on without Drolta.

Love the horror strings taking over the background music when Drolta is finished being brought back to “life” but hasn’t yet come out of the forgemaster machine.

Yes I absolutely did rewatch her walking out of the machine and her scene right after multiple times.

Drolta’s got inches, just the curls on her corpse were long as hell. I need my hair like that in the next five years🤞🏾.

I love Drolta’s new design about as much as her old one, except for the wings. They're fine enough, their roundness just mildly vexes me. And I do mean mildly.

Drolta backstory!

Human Drolta! Her being dedicated enough to go to war for Sekhmet. I liked being able to see the circumstances that broke Drolta, that led her away from the path of a healer and corrupted her compassion and ceaseless dedication into bloodthirsty hate and misled obsession.

The first six minutes alone of “Angel of Death” S2E2, period.

The sequence where Drolta takes flight over the water and tests out her new body in front of Erzsebet. Erzsebet clapping for her, feeding off her elation because that’s her WIFE (EDIT: little does Erzsebet know she as a person is barely a passing fad to Drolta though).

Drolta saying “it is delightful” in response to feeling the sun for the first time without pain in centuries. The little smile on her face. That was cute, I love her.

I actually like Richter more this season. Not that I disliked him in season one though.

Him and Annette buzzing uncertainly around each other is cute too.

Whatever weird ass beef Drolta and Olrox have going on now (it was there in season one too, but now the tension feels heightened).

EDIT: And the fact that it’s Drolta who continues to question Olrox and poke holes in his stories instead of Erzsebet (who calls him “my dragon” and who acts like he’s more loyal than he is) really makes me think that Erzsebet would’ve ended up back confined if Drolta wasn’t such a good backbone for her. How much she predominantly only cares about killing and bringing about suffering for little reason other than she can and thinks she has a right to blinds her — and made her pretty un-intimidating to me as a result. She’s a big physical threat but it’s like she’s got nothing beyond that desire to hurt ruling her and it makes her sloppy and unimpressive whenever she tries to be intimidating (especially whenever Drolta’s not there).

The shot of Drolta rising up before Olrox to proclaim that hunting the French military during the day would be more fun than waiting to do it at night.

The entirety of Drolta tearing apart the soldiers and clearly basking in it. She is serving absolute looks while going on a bloodthirsty demenated binge and I love her all the more for it. Why shouldn’t she be allowed to tear off the top of a man’s skull if she wants to, yk?

Olrox stopping Mizrak from trying to fight Drolta essentially one on one was sweet (even if I don’t necessarily like Mizrak).

The continued stressing of the fact that Drolta is more of an abomination, even more unnatural than before, since being resurrected and going through the machine.

THEORY (I’m currently on “Angel of Death” S2Ep2 as I write this bit): I think Drolta knows more than she’s letting on about resurrecting Sekhmet and that she’s planning to bring her back to life in the only way she can, with Erzsebet’s body. I think possession and full bodily transformation is the endgame, and I don’t think Erzsebet’s figured that out yet. It’s highly possible that she loves Drolta more than Drolta even cares for her as a person; Drolta only cares for her body insofar as it’s capabilities to successfully contain a goddess’s soul. Though this may be my general distaste for Erzsebet (and need for Drolta to be better than giving the soul of an Egyptian goddess to the palest white woman she could find) poking its head out so idk.

OH MY GOD DROLTA'S SWORD PROOF?!?!?!??!!!!!

I mean she was proven to be bullet proof, yeah, but that has less oomph than her brushing off a sword attack.

Ahhhhh, and she’s fucking huge compared to humans!!! How delightful!! *giggles uncontrollably for a few seconds*

Olrox liking Mizrak enough to hold him while he cries for the people Drolta is slaughtering en mass is good shit. Him holding on to Olrox for dear life as he breaks down whilst he’s soothed as much as he can be is also good shit.

Drolta literally squeezing the life out of the revolutionary army’s captain and popping her like a stress toy. Go off Queen.

“For every suffering, a wisdom is gained.” *end of episode; cut to black* OMG?!!!

Drolta’s voice lines being performed so well every time? Glorious, end of discussion.

Why is Olrox so invested in Mizrak? Every interaction he’s had with that man has ended with Olrox upset. Like, he’s literally not fucking worth it.

Drolta just letting Alucard lead her to Sekhmet’s mummy. Why work hard, you know? Especially when she’s clearly been carrying Erzsebet’s entire plan.

Drolta saying “I was born three times. The second time a vampire, and the third…a new and glorious thing,” and then pressing a kiss to the forehead of the newest female night creature. Like, bitch, I want that to be me.

Oh yeah, Edouard is going to start an uprising. Erzsebet and Drolta Them are fucked. When that army turns on them that’s gonna be the end.

I know Olrox is mad about that brand, and shit, I’m mad for him. That would’ve drove me insane. I wouldn’t want to cede that much of myself to Erzsebet either (especially since she’s not even actually Sekhmet yet). But just in general it sucks that he was branded both against his will by Drolta and for a cause that he doesn’t believe in or want to follow.

Alright Maria, embrace your darkness! And then mellow out a bit, that step is crucial here. She’s got the spirit though, and that wolf is beautiful.

Maria going “who are you” completely baffled when Juste shows up and attacks Tera is killing me. I’m laughing too hard, I had to pause it for a minute.

Tera’s control is immaculate for such a new vampire.

This is probably bad, but good for Maria. A coming of rage might be good for her. Sometimes you just want to kill your shitty harmfully delusional father; no, that wasn’t kind of cathartic for me at all /s.

Drolta being the one to turn Erzsebet. Truly all the power that woman ever gained after being confined was because of Drolta. That’s…something.

You know what? As Drolta started to fight Alucard I immediately realized that I really do not want to see Drolta die again. I know she probably will, all things considered, but still.

I understand that Tera left because she personally sees that she’s a bad influence on Maria, and she wants to protect her daughter from that side of herself until she has her own darker impulses under control. But how tf was she so sure that abandoning her child wouldn’t’ve pushed Maria right over the edge? Honestly I’ve never liked when parents do shit like run away from their kids “for their own good” unless they’re literally turning into uncontrollable monsters; like, you know what’ll really go great with this trauma sandwich? A nice tall glass of trauma lemonade with a special shot of abandonment issues mixed in! 🙄

Not Olrox offering to take that man with him. Omg. I bet you Olrox will come back and risk his life for Mizrak, and maybe even be killed doing it. At least let him be the one to kill Drolta (I have to accept her inevitable death atp, and at least let it be at the hands of the man she branded so that he can go out with a win and so that they can have a good ass fight beforehand).

EDIT: Okay, so I lost that bet but I’m super okay with that. And like, I get the Mizrox relationship I guess, but it’s just not for me.

I think the nicest thing Mizrak ever said to Olrox without immediately following his words up by calling Olrox a disgusting soulless monster was after Olrox said he was leaving for good. Don’t switch up now bitch, I just hope by the time someone else comes around you're done with this ‘lashing out, existential crisis’ shit.

The spirits overwhelming Annette was a nice touch, but I can tell the spirit world stuff will make me uncomfortable so I’m going to stop watching as it is now night.

Richter being so attuned to Annette whenever she’s in distress (even when it’s silent) and rushing to make sure she’s okay every time. He’s not always correct when he makes an assumption about why she might be disturbed when he’s reassuring her, but that’s mostly just because he doesn’t have all the information.

Annette being attuned to Richter enough to pinpoint when he’s feeling insecure and then assuage his feelings. Annette constantly using reason to defuse any possible tension between Alucard and Richter, and being just as fully prepared to call Richter out when he screws up as she is to come to his defense.

Them coming to mutually understand and respect both of their circumstances and the trauma they experienced growing up.

“Mephisto” is unsettling imo, but Olrox’s interaction with him was interesting. Olrox just has such a calm demeanor even when he’s technically outmatched or upset, and it’s very engaging.

Drolta kicking Alucard into the river. Just her kicking with her hoofs in general, she does it a lot throughout the season and I love it every time. The move is just such a finisher that I can’t help but find it appealing. It’s a competence thing, I really can’t help myself.

Annette, girl, every bit of your story is riveting! Like, there’s legitimately so much here and that feels crazy. I love it! I shall cherish this fictional black woman being allowed to have negative traits (s1) without being demonized for it and then being given actual time and dedication in her personal story and the show’s overall story.

Third Drolta form though! That’s exciting, now she’s larger and a cross between her vampire form and her night creature form (with obvious feline features). And this time she’s been called an obscenity! And by Sekhmet’s third soul no less. She’s like a Pokémon kind of.

Anyway, she only just got any amount of Sekhmet in her and can already pause Richter and Alucard mid strike and grow back the hand Richter so smartly cut off (it was a smart move, I’m not being sarcastic). All I’m saying is that she might be unhinged, and she might need to get her ass beat, but she’s still more powerful than Erzsebet despite having had far less time with any power that wasn’t mortal in some manner. Once again: Queen.

“Unclean thing”. Yet another insult lobbed onto Drolta. I’m just collecting them atp.

I like Sekhmet and Drolta having a conversation. Drolta crying does pain me though.

Drolta’s scream of anguish and rage and who knows what else. Fucking amazing. Elarica Johnson did not miss once this whole season (EDIT: and she didn’t last season either, don’t fret). Also it’s crazy that I actually recognize Drolta’s VA from the one episode of P-Valley I ever watched.

Drolta being able to stab Alucard with his sword was nice. I don’t know why she didn’t just cut and run though, I guess she’d been unmoored enough to not care anymore and just be lashing out but idk. Don’t know if I like that character beat for her, but yeah.

Jesus, they split my woman in half. Fucking hell.

Olrox came back for that last hit on Drolta. I don’t know why, but he did. He deserved that one though, I can’t be mad.

Annette’s fight in the “spirit world” was good, but I didn’t really comment about it because it didn’t really have any different beats to highlight.

I’m going to be honest, as much as I like these characters I know for a fact my interest in the show going forward will wane without Drolta, but the journeys of the other characters are still nice to see.

OKAY so I didn’t call exactly how Drolta would turn against Erzsebet, but that’s alright.

Well Mizrak is a vampire now. So long as Olrox is happy I guess. *big sigh* More angst to come though, so that’s (maybe) fun.

EDIT: And no hate to the Mizrox shippers, all of this shit is my opinion, I haven’t seriously cared about policing what other people ship in a decade.

Apparently “Mephisto” and Tera are in cahoots. I don’t know what’s going on there. Also, “Mephisto’s” shadow form occasionally having teeth is wild imagery.

Overall as a Drolta fan I’m pretty satisfied.

hi so we recently got into dimension 20 and our friends have been tugging us towards critical role for a very long time at this point but we still haven’t watched any of it nor do we know all that much about anything that actually happens in it. however we do intend to actually start watching soon so we decided it was the perfect opportunity to make one of those ‘all the things i know about this thing i haven’t watched’ posts, show it to our critrole friends, and then actually get into critrole and be able to look back and laugh about it later

Most obviously a Phantom, and has bony wings. He’s also a glitch in the game and will warp himself and his surroundings a little bit. The part of his face covered by his mask is skeletal. Might also be a failed clone?

Gem: Not-deer

Seems like a normal deer player at first glance, but there’s something a bit uncanny about her

Scar: Human / Vex

A Vex, although he’s not a full one like Cub. He usually stores his magic in crystals

Grian: Magpie / Watcher

A pesky bird to his core. He’s also pretty eldritch and very powerful when he wants to be

Hypno: Beetle / Hypnotist

Normally keeps his wings hidden, and most of the time he looks human enough. Has strong magic and is another resident of the uncanny valley

Jevin: Slime

Impulse: Imp

Has magic, although it’s not very strong

Skizz: Angel

Can switch from humanoid to biblically accurate, and likes to use that ability to mess with his friends. Quite a bit more powerful than Impulse

Iskall: Cyborg

Joe: Poltergeist / Eldritch

Not really undead or technically a spirit, since he was never alive or had a spirit in the first place. Can basically do whatever he wants, he is Joe Hills after all

Keralis: Puppet / Eldritch / Body-snatcher

Puppet possessed by an eldritch entity. He’s capable of taking over bodies and effectively banishing the host into the nothingness, although he hasn’t done so in a long while

Mumbo: Human / Vampiric

Despite being a vampire, he doesn’t drink blood, he just gets really bad sunburns sometimes

Pearl: Moth / Lunar

Has a strong connection to the moon and the markings on her wings change with its cycle. She was also a Glare while she was the cleaning lady

Ren: Werewolf

Stress: Butterfly / Fae

Very powerful, although she doesn’t use her magic for much more than helping plants grow, although those plants usually turn out pretty weird

Tango: Fire being / Lunar

A being originating from fire itself, and was connected to Decked Out 2 for a while, which was some sort of eldritch parasite. After Season 8, he became a Lunar, although he’s not very happy about it, and most of the others don’t know about it. Has four arms sometimes, but no one knows how the extra arms get there or where they go afterwards

Beef: Minotaur

xB: Sarcastic fringehead

A type of fish! He might also have a few soul stealing properties

Xisuma: Undead / Robot

Spirit inside of a robotic suit. He’s had multiple forms, including being a bee, an axolotl, and a dragon

Zedaph: Satyr / Moth

He can summon himself some cool rosy maple moth wings

Cleo: Undead

As her name suggests, she’s specifically a zombie

Wels: Possessed knight

A possessed suit of armor covering a mannequin

Gale and the Gith: Chapter Ten - Inferior

The group find the githyanki and draw closer to salvation.

“A creche must be near.  Come, our kin await.”  Lae’zel and X’aa’nath begin move towards their fellow gith, as well as the red dragon towering over the smoldering ruins of the bridge and the blackened bodies of the Flaming Fist mercenaries.

“That dragon just incinerated those soldiers- surely this isn’t safe?” Gale ventures, exchanging a cautious look with Astarion. 

“My kin will not harm you,” X’aa’nath assures him, taking the wizard’s hand and tugging him along.  “Now come, the means to purification is close at hand.”

Astarion and Gale follow the two gith warily, hanging back as they approach the dragon rider.

“Kith’rak, we must speak -”

“Rider, my time is short,” Lae’zel interrupts X’aa’nath. “Lead me to - ”

“Shh-shh-shh.  Such a familiar tone,” the elder gith murmurs.  “Were I not merciful, I would slice the skin from your meat.  Yet you are not bleeding.  For I am nothing if not merciful.  Your names, children.”

“Lae’zel.”

“Lae’zel.  Proud, regal even.  And you?”

Gale watches in trepidation as the warrior turns his attention to X’aa’nath.

“X’aa’nath,” the young sorcerer answers obediently, inclining his head towards the elder in a show of respect.

“X’aa’nath,” the warrior echoes quietly.  “Khou’zal’s experiment.”

Gale bristles at the gith’s tone and opens his mouth to interject, but Astarion elbows him sharply in the ribs.

“Do not interfere,” the vampire hisses.

Gale grits his teeth but stays silent, internally fuming as X’aa’nath nods meekly in confirmation. 

“You will call me Jhe’stil Kithrak.”

Lae’zel and X’aa’nath exchanged slightly awed looks.  “Voss, Knight Supreme.”

“The queen’s silver, the queen’s sword,” X’aa’nath whispers.

“I am who you say,” Voss confirms.  “A ghaik vessel has fallen from the sky, kin.  Thieves aboard have taken a weapon most precious.  It is polyhedric in shape and inscribed with the runes of our people.”

X’aa’nath twitches, a movement so small that had Gale not been staring at him so intently he never would have noticed.

“Take word to your creche,” Voss instructs Lae’zel.  “You are to join our search.”

X’aa’nath’s eyes flick towards Lae’zel and they have a brief, silent interaction.

“Speak up, child.  Affirm your mandate,” Voss demands impatiently. 

“You honor me with this duty, Kithrak,” Lae’zel answers after a final moment of hesitation.  “I shall inform my caretaker with haste.”

Voss nods, pleased with her answer.  “You serve your queen well, child.  Take your slaves and the experiment, and hunt those who escape the ghaik ship.  They must carry the weapon.  I fly now to Vlaakith, our Undying Queen.  She will see your faith rewarded in this plane and ours.” 

X’aa’nath’s body tenses at Voss’s praise of Lae’zel, and he keeps his eyes locked firmly on the ground, avoiding Gale’s worried gaze.  Astarion, Gale, Lae’zel and X’aa’nath stay quietly huddled together as Voss mounts his dragon and takes to the sky, and the other githyanki set off on their own search for the weapon. 

Once they are all out of sight, Lae’zel lightly touches X’aa’nath’s shoulder.  “You did well to intervene, vexed as I am to admit it.  The Jhe’stil Kithrak would have flayed our skin and left our carcasses to burn in the sun – all for the sake of the artefact we carry.  The creche is near, this much we know.  We follow the path forward and into the valley.  No one, not even the ignoble Jhe’stil Kithrak, will keep me from my purification.”

He nods wordlessly, shouldering his pack once again and obediently following her towards the mountain pass.  Gale reaches out as he walks past, tenderly catching his hand in both of his own. 

“A moment, X’aa’nath?” he whispers.

The gith shakes him off, continuing on his forward trajectory.  “Not now, wizard.”

“Please, X’aa’nath - ”

“He said no, Gale,” Astarion snaps, grabbing Gale’s forearm and pulling him away.

“But - ”

“Leave it, Gale.  For once, just… leave it,” Astarion snarls, tightening his grip on Gale’s arm.  “You can’t fix this for him, can’t just magic away his problems.  He needs to deal with this himself.  It’s the only way he’ll ever be free.”

Gale’s chest tightens as he recognizes the truth in Astarion’s words.  “You may be right,” he says slowly.  “But no matter what comes next… he will not be alone.”

There’s much more than just school text books in the Wizarding World, so as logical it is to assume that muggle borns read popular muggle fairytales during their childhood, it’s equally logical to think the same about magically raised children! And adults ( we known how those witches piled up for Lockharts autograph in Diagon Alley lol )

THE GREEN DRAGON loved you for several reasons, all of which have been confessed to you for many nights on end. This man would never be happy with a boring partner; where's the fun in that? If he wanted normal he would have got it a long time ago during the many decades he has lived. But thankfully you exist, saving him all the trouble of finding someone himself.

JAE-HA is roughly 188cm (6'2), making him a rather imposing figure compared to many. You being a bit shorter or taller than him piques his interest quite a bit as he very seldomly meets people who can meet his gaze. Truthfully, he finds your physique to be incredibly tempting. It's something about seeing his significant other take care of their health and appearance that gets him going.

As you may have predicted, his flirtatious mannerisms have yet to elude him even to this day. Although knowing who his true love is, he swears he just "can't" help himself; Old habits Die hard. Unfortunately for him, his partners' tolerance has long run out.

JAE-HA would be lying if he said he didn't enjoy it. The deep, warm breaths the two of you shared under the moon's expectant gaze as your beloved lay beneath you, withering with every touch. His pale skin had been marred with marks of all sizes, all of which he wore with such benevolent pride. It's become a game for him, testing your patience, waiting for the moment it runs out much like an eager child.

One could call him desperate, and he wouldn't dare deny it. In all of his late-night rendezvous, control was something placed in his hand as though his name was carved in it. To be honest, it bored him. But with you, it was something he had to fight for — earn even. It gave him a long-needed rush that kept him craving more and more every aching second.

Teasing and flirting with women was all it took to get under your skin; nice and terribly easy to achieve. The process was vexing nevertheless, but worth it in the end. As you were more than happy to deliver.

His lean figure crashed into the rough borders of the alleyway, its vast shadows shielding you from prying eyes. You observed THE DRAGON with a harsh grimace on your lips, one that made his pants tightly squeeze around himself. Pretty pink blotches had unhurriedly begun to fade from his skin as its newly unoccupied surface was almost begging for more. He stared at you through thick lashes, slightly craning his neck upwards to meet your gaze...

“You've turn me into quite the masochi st, darling. But I'm afraid these little bruises just won't be enough, so why don't we try something more explicit~?”

OH I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A POST THAT ASKS FOR ANY OTHER SPECIES THAN THOSE VEX VAMPIRE AND PARROT THANK YOU

Scar is definitely a red panda, no questions asked (Red pandas are my favourite animals, and Scar literally always makes my day better 100%) (Also the fact Scar raises his hands when he gets jumpscared)

For Mumbo it's quite hard to decide- While I love seeing him as a fancy vampire, I think a warden hybrid or a shapeshifter, if not a robot/android could also absolutely work, or a moth idk (Or, completely random thought: What if Mumbo was a snake)

Though, if I had to decide, I'd go with a warden!mumbo

And while I typically don't mind Grian being a birb (or rather parrot), I could imagine him perhaps being some kind of dragon, or maybe even an allay honestly (I can't imagine grian without wings ngl)

Yeah these are just random thoughts my brain had now (It's not even 7 am when I'm writing this :'D)

Vax has never had so much time to do with as he pleased. Since he and Vex left Syngorn, there has always been something to do, something to steal, some need to fulfill. For years now, Vox Machina has been rushing from one emergency to the next, fighting beholders or vampires or fucking dragons, all to make the world a better place, and now it is, and Vax has nothing but time.

So he spends his days doing what he loves best: watching Keyleth be amazing. She's fallen into her role as Tempest far more naturally than she had predicted (not him; nothing could surprise him less than her success as her people's leader), and as a result she is often called all over Tal'dorei to help with this project or that. She takes these request in stride, hoping to open Zephrah up to more collaboration with other cities and towns across the continent. It often leaves her exhausted and aching for home, but she is doing good work, and he is so endlessly proud of her.

Today, though, he does not have to share her with some city council or demanding town mayor. Today, she has nothing on her schedule, and she is entirely his, and he plans to make the most of it. Well, his plans are largely to laze about and feed each other food under the blooming cherry trees on the cliffs, but plans are plans nonetheless. He lets her sleep in as long as he dares before pulling her from the sheets to dress for a day of lounging about. He has a picnic basket all ready to go, and before she can begin listing off all of the things she ought to be doing with her day, he's dragged her out far from the bustle of daily life in Zephrah. No reading, no meetings, no spell preparation—just him and her and a basket full of food and the candy-colored skies overhead.

He's resting up against a tree with her nestled between his legs, his eyes closed to feel the soft breeze rustle his hair. She reaches up to pop a grape into his mouth and says, "Okay, you win. This is nice."

He grins. "Who knew you had the ability to relax?"

Pouting, she says, "I can be fun."

"Your idea of fun usually ends up with you getting arrested."

"Well your idea of fun usually ends up with Grog doing irreparable damage to one of your testicles."

"But he enjoyed himself, didn't he? When was the last time you let yourself breathe?"

She twists around to glare at him, and then he sees a spark of something dangerous in her eye. The next thing he knows, the gentle breeze that he has become so accustomed to in Zephrah has turned into a gale force wind, localized, apparently, on him, and his hair picks up and swirls around him as if caught in a tornado. He yelps, trying to use his arms to protect his eyes as his demon of a girlfriend laughs. The wind dies down a few moments later, and he doesn't need a mirror to know that his hair is a mess.

"You jerk!" he exclaims, lurching forward to attempt to tickle her, but as always, she's too fast for him. She shrinks down into a tiny sparrow and flitters up to nest in his hair, whistling at him with what he can only assume is mocking glee.

"Alright, alright, you win!" he groans, collapsing back against the tree again. His avian girlfriend flies up in a victory lap over head before settling back down atop the picnic blanket and resuming the half-elven shape is rather fond of.

"I can be fun," she repeats, grinning smugly.

"Only because you cheat with magic," he grumbles as he begins the futile attempt at combing out his tangles.

She shrugs, grabbing a few cubes of cheese to toss into her mouth. "Tell your raven girlfriend to give you better spells instead of this depressing wardrobe."

"How did this picnic turn into my roast?" he moans. "I changed my mind, I'm not getting that tattoo anymore."

"Weenie."

He's had enough of her lip, so he surges forward to capture it with his own. She grins into the kiss, clearly satisfied with herself, and he lets her take the victory.

Pre-BG3 Dark Urge/Gortash Head Canon

A few weeks went by without a response from Gortash. He was growing tired of waiting around. Today he had some business to conduct with the Szarr family. Their lord was a tiresome fellow and he would rather chop off his own ear than sit listening to Cazador ranting about whoever wronged him this time. He knew what Cazador was and it suited him for the most part to filter some of the temple's victims to him for a steep price. The vampires underlings were also very good at getting valuable information. Not that his spawn was ever around when Johim showed up at the castle.

He put on a brightly colored tunic with billowing pants. Tying the outfit together with a tasseled linen waist wrap. Deciding whether he should bring his fiddle or not? When he was out in public he usually acted the bard. Finally deciding to grab it he headed out for his meeting. He enjoyed walking through the streets. A group of young women giggled as he walked by. He grinned flirtatiously and winked before continuing on his journey. Cazador's castle loomed ahead and he snapped his fingers to ensure he was invisible on his approach. Walking up the castle stairs undetected. Before he opened the door he made sure he was transformed into the form Cazador and other collaborators knew. A towering white dragon born. A picture of might and power. The sun was out and so he knew he wasn't in any danger from any of Cazador's tricks. Not that he ever was. If it ever came down to it he could put him in his place easy enough.

"Come in Lord Ba'elwyn, the master is waiting for you in his receiving room."

Barely glancing down he walked past the servant with his head held high. This was the dragon. Where the bard was fun and flirtatious among the crowds, the dragon was serious and never lowered himself enough to address servants directly. Cazador sat upon a chair that tastelessly mimicked a throne. The entire castle's decor was tasteless. The overdone design of a delusional maniac with the overpowering scent of perfume wafting in the air.

"Welcome Lord Ba'elwyn to my home." Cazador watched him with impertinence. It vexed him that Johim refused to bow or show deference.

Johim sat across from him. Not so much as allowing his chin to dip an inch towards him. He sat there silently waiting with an air of dangerous boredom.

Cazador cleared his throat. After a few more minutes he sighed with frustration and came out with his request.

"I am struggling to... locate my staff."

Johim's eyebrow raised, taking on an impatient tone. "You called on me to locate a missing trinket?" He leaned back into the chair, the tip of his illusory tail swaying back and forth.

"It's not just any trinket! You fo-."

Cazador was smart enough to stop himself before ending up in a situation where he was skewered on Bhaal's altar. He breathed, pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration before continuing.

"The staff is an heirloom and I need it to conduct certain business."

"And what makes your trinket worth my time?"

"Ah, it is a gift passed to my ancestors by Mephistopheles himself. Trust me when I say this trinket is worth your precious time."

He loved to brag. It was what made him such a fount of information. So sure in his power that he was careless with his words. Perhaps there was an opportunity for him to take advantage of this man's careless tongue.

"I can have some men of mine locate your trinket. But only if you have good answers to some of my questions."

Cazador nodded.

"What do you know about a man named Enver Gortash?"

Cazador smirked. "He's a minor player. An artificer who's been trying to work his way up the ranks with our city's grand players." He examined his nails before continuing. "I've heard he studied under the Gondians and is quite promising in his talents at the Steel Foundry."

"He seems to have come out of nowhere. I don't recall a Gortash family amongst the sword coast." 

"He's not from a great family." Cazador pointed the toe of his boot in his direction. An ornate boot decorated with crimson bats. "But he does know how to design a marvelous shoe."

"He's a cobbler?" Johim was expecting him to be something a bit more... scholarly. Not a shoe maker.

"Yes. Flymm's cobbler. It's how he was able to gain a foothold with the upper class in the first place. One fashionable boot turns up at court and suddenly everyone needs a pair."

Clever wolf indeed. He was almost tempted to chuckle at the ridiculousness of it. But his composure never broke. He rose from the chair.

"Fine, I will make sure to locate your trinket. You can drop off your payment at the usual spot. Oh, and if you tell anyone about our discussion I'll destroy you." His voice still remained in that bored, neutral tone. Cazador nodded, still steaming at the lack of deference.

He made his way out of the castle invisibly. When he was a good ways away he reappeared in his normal form. Walking until he found the cobblers shop. He perched himself on a fountain across from it with his fiddle out. Watching the shop as he played a crowd drawing melody. Something soft and playful with a dangerous undertone. He glanced up at a window two stories high. Grinning wildly when he found a face smiling right back at him.
