Relatively new to this world, Abby had been settling in well enough. It was late and she was walking around the city to get her bearings when some idiots decided to try and mug her, or something. Before she can teach them the errors of their ways, she hears another voice above her - and upon looking up, sees some sort of fool in red spandex.

Whatever.

Rolling her eyes, Abby sighs. As tempted as she is to just burn the muggers alive, she really doesn't want to have to deal with the bodies later. So instead she shifts her weight onto one hip, giving a flick of her hand and watching with amusement as bands of solid rock wrap around the group, pinning them to the ground. It was laughably easy, frankly.

The first annoyance dealt with, she peers back up to where the second one stood. "I suppose it's a good thing I don't do stupid things then, isn't it?" She calls up, more curious about this one than the others. The muggers were normal - hoodies and knives, thinking her weak. This one, at least, was different. Even if he was covered head to toe in red spandex.

Theory: (two theories, but still)

In Multiverse of Madness, we saw that Strange and America changed forms depending on what universe they were in. But in the Spider-Verse films, we saw that that’s not how it works (see Andrew Garfield and Donald Glover still being non-animated). This has lead to two theories.

A) when traveling with America, you change for the universe because she is a multiversal being and made for every universe, and her portals change you to fit your surroundings.

B) beings from Earth 199999 change depending on their universe. Meaning that if Peter 1 were to fall into the Spider-Verse (pun intended), he would become a cartoon. This could also mean that if Miles went to Earth 199999, he would become non-animated.

The America Theory (as I’m calling it) seems more likely, but what do y’all think?

For the Pride Month Prompts of Marvel Rare Pair Bingo @marvelrarepairbingo, I made an entry for the Mood Board Madness section.

story: Natasha and Ororo are absolutely adamant about leaving the male members of their polycule aka their moping boyfriends at home for Mutant and Superhero Pride this year and rather join the Dykes on Bikes parade section. When the event is threatened by a bunch of radical bigot terrorists sending dozens of suicide bombers to literally blow up everyone's fun though, Everett and Clint need to overcome their aversion against mass events and join the girls to save the day. After Ororo's lightning and Clint's trick arrows have made an inevitable mess of the rainbow decoration while taking out the enemies one by one, Synch lights up the street with his powers for a few hours of celebration instead, before the four of them leave for the nearest motel room for celebrating yet another victory.

Today's science Sunday is going to tackle a big topic: Spider-Man's body hair!

In the original Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies, Spidey sticks to the wall thanks to a bunch of little hairs in his hands as shown below.

These are terrifying and look kind of painful. Anyways, lets see how strong they are!!

In order to climb up a wall, all of these little spikes together would have to be able to support Spidey's full body weight. Spidey has a canonical weight of 167 pounds (about 76 kg).

In order to find his hair strength, we need to know how many hairs he has. While I couldn't find any comparative data on the number of hairs on hands and feet, I did find a study by Otberg et al. looking at the distribution of hair across the human body. They did not measure hands or feet, so we will use the lowest area they did measure, the calf, with 14 hair follicles for every square centimeter of skin. This will give us a slightly higher number of hairs, giving us slightly weaker Spider Body Hair.

The average hand size of a man is 7.6 inches by 3.5 inches, or 19.3 cm by 8.89 cm. This gives us a total area of 171.577 square cm, and 2402 hairs per hand. An ARG set up to hype up the Amazing Spider-Man movies gave us a pair of Spider-Man's running shoes, which were size 11. This gives us dimensions of 29.2 cm in length, by 10.48 cm wide. This leaves us with a total area of 306.016 cm, about 4284 hairs per foot. This gives us a total hair count of 13,372. This means each hair would need to support about 0.0125 pounds, or about 5.67 grams.

The average human hair can support up to 100 grams of weight. This is nearly 20 times what Spidey's hair supports. Spidey has real pointy hair, but it's actually relatively weak!

Man, remember when Spider-Verse stories were big events? They'd get tie-ins, they'd take over the main comics run for a couple months, heck the first one even got that Edge of Spider-Verse prelude and was being teased all the way back in Superior Spider-Man.

Now these massive multiverse scale events don't even get a nod in the main book anymore. They've got a whole side story miniseries running because God forbid this week's Crisis on Infinite Spider-Men distract from Ben Reilly's ongoing identity crisis.

No lie, I kind of wish that we got to see that scene of Hobie confronting Gwen Stacy's dad and just chewing him out the whole time and basically saying he's only assisting with him for Gwen's sake not his.

I want scenes of Gwen's dad just squirming in absolute guilt.
