actually, i'm tired of being nice about this.

for the past week, a terrible cold front has been affecting different parts of spain, especially valencia, where +200 people have died and +2000 are still missing.

for the past week, people have been trying to find ways to help those affected, either by going to the affected areas to help or by donating food, clothes and other resources, even though it keeps raining.

for the past couple of days, i've received daily emergency alarms on my phone telling me to stay at home because of the risk of flood, and today schools and universities have closed to avoid unnecessary risks

people are losing power, their cars, their homes, their loved ones, streets are flooded and filled with mud. this morning the storm was so strong here that the power went out in my entire building and in a lot of areas of the city. trains aren't working, some subway stations are flooded, i have been hearing sirens all day and thinking that i'm lucky for getting to stay in the safety of my home

and then i go online, especially on tumblr, and… nothing. nobody is talking about it, nobody is sharing fundraisers. i only see spaniards talking about it, and even then, most posts don't reach 400 notes.

this is one of the clearest signs of climate change we've seen recently, why is nobody talking about it? it seems like tragedies are only tragedies when they happen in a small handful of countries, and we are, unfortunately, not one of them. but we're more than a vacation destination, we're more than a place with good weather and cheap alcohol. we people deserve protection and safety. we deserve more than global silence

Valencia Orange Cupcakes Recipe

I’ve made chocolate cupcakes with orange frosting before, but never a vanilla-based cupcake infused with freshly-squeezed orange juice. The batch turned out well and I even substituted olive oil for sunflower or safflower oil to see if there was a taste difference. Yes, it was a bit stronger and it wasn’t as light and fluffy as it would’ve been if the usual vegetable oil had been used. I avoided using flavor oil but I added gel-based orange colorant for the cupcakes and frosting.

Cupcake ingredients:

2 eggs, room temperature

3/4 cup sugar

1 1/4 cups cake flour

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/2 cup orange juice

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon orange flavor oil [optional]

orange colorant [optional]

Oven temperature: 350 degrees Fahrenheit / 180 degrees Celsius

Makes 9 cupcakes.

Baking time: approximately 20 minutes

Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

In a large mixing bowl, using a hand or stand mixer, beat the eggs and sugar until dissolved.

Add the oil and salt and mix for about a minute.

Add orange juice, flour and baking powder and mix until combined.

Add vanilla extract, flavoring and coloring.

Fill cupcake liners 3/4 full with batter.

Bake until a toothpick inserted into a cupcake comes out clean.

Cool cupcakes on a wire rack for a few minutes, and then remove cupcakes from pan and place on a wire rack to cool completely.

Orange Buttercream Frosting ingredients:

11/4 cups powdered sugar, sifted

1 Tablespoon orange juice

1 Tablespoon heavy cream

1 Tablespoon orange zest for topping

Orange flavor [optional]

Orange colorant [optional]

Directions: Beat softened butter on medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth and creamy. Add powdered sugar, orange juice, cream, flavor, and colorant. Mix on high speed until well combined and smooth. Spoon into a piping bag with your favorite tip and pipe onto cooled cupcakes.

Oh I am Glad You Asked!!! Her ref is definitely less uh. Detailed. Than I would usually make a sheet with written info. But those also usually don't imply someone fucked orange juice so. Yeah lmao

So um first off no one really... knows how she exists? Hajime won't tell anyone and Mikan, the only other person to see her... birth? just gets too flustered to explain and rushes to change the subject

He really did just show up one day, Mikan in tow, holding a baby partly made of glass and orange juice. Despite how confusing her existence is, basically everyone on the island fell in love with her immediately. Hard not too, she's a sweetie :) Since Nagito and Hajime spend so much time together, she naturally spent a lot of time with him as well!

He really does adore her, tho he's terrified of her getting hurt by his luck. Pronoun is replaced because she's trans so obv he wasn't calling her "she" when she was born. Dw, he's chill with it. I can't stop headcanoning characters as trans, he probably is too lmao

If I had to give her a serious Ultimate, it would probably be Ultimate Volleyball Player. She's super close with Akane, Nekomaru, and Ibuki cause they're always down for a round. She's surprisingly strong for being part glass. She tries to get everyone to play with her but the time after the game is pretty hectic so most people are pretty busy

She considers all the other people on the island to be her family in some way, along with the Future Foundation (I think she calls Makoto her uncle sometimes. He doesn't know but if he ever found out he'd be like UEE😭🥺💧Eu💧💧E E😭😭 E EUE🥺🥺����UUUUE😭🥺💧🥺😭 ue 💧ee😭🥺💧ue 🥺e e e😭 💧🥺😭Uueuuue.💧ue 😭🥺ee e🥺🥺😭eUEE 💧🥺💧EEE I think he'd love her)

Her body really is partly glass btw! Her limbs and midsection are glass full of orange juice while her head, chest, and pelvis are all flesh. It feels like glass too, it's not just in appearance. Despite that, she still moves like any human

Also I didn't draw this but she calls Hajime "Dad", Nagito "Da", and Izuru "Other-Dad" :)

I wanna draw her more so if anyone has requests then uh yeah!

i have literally no idea how mangaka come up with shit for anniversary short stories bc there's always an expectation that you have to feature the mains in a 10 years later sort of thing while not making it feel too different from the original

in the meantime, if you give a little love is having its 10 anniversary this week and here i am, vaguely wanting to go back on fimfic to write an anni oneshot and sprouting up ideas about every character except coco and babs

*When it was raining recently in SoCal, I saw a tiktok where a high school student was showing a flooded hallway and people who have never been to an outdoor Californian high school were commenting in disbelief that we considered a sidewalk with a roof a hallway (which yes we do; its California)

*My lunch lady friend had the epiphany that despite huge generational changes, high schooler behavior remains a constant and she was serving to kids who reminded her of herself when she was in high school. My only response was “damn I cant believe Bowling for Soup was right”

* Apparently her high school has a night guy. Nobody knows what he does
