*When it was raining recently in SoCal, I saw a tiktok where a high school student was showing a flooded hallway and people who have never been to an outdoor Californian high school were commenting in disbelief that we considered a sidewalk with a roof a hallway (which yes we do; its California)

*My lunch lady friend had the epiphany that despite huge generational changes, high schooler behavior remains a constant and she was serving to kids who reminded her of herself when she was in high school. My only response was “damn I cant believe Bowling for Soup was right”

* Apparently her high school has a night guy. Nobody knows what he does

Elaborating on the previous ask and the 2 Mean Girls related posts that came before it of how much I love Mean Girls (2004) that it fueled a whole story about a bunch of 8th grader OCs fighting each other for control of their high schoool:

The plot of this episode is that my main boy Diesel-Mykel goes around being a therapist and charges kids money for it, but he has limited knowledge on what he’s doing because he binged 10 hours of therapy TikToks; the episode ends with his brother reminding him that their family probably has some overlooked mental health issues because Mexican Mental Health Repression™️

In seriousness, I based a lot of my original characters on a large amount characters from shows I liked growing up and evolved their design and characters from there, but very rarely do my original characters get implemented into shows/movies/other media I do like. But with the recent need to recreate *beautiful art direction* lately and the positive response from it, maybe I should do a lot more :)

one year ago, as a class assignment, I made a short film called The Orange Grove with a group of other students who would later become some of my closest friends from school.

while we never finished the film to full color (and we kinda can’t display the film til we replace the copyrighted music we used for some scenes), it was a fun experience and it’s inspired me for a whole year to develop a whole series known as The Orange Grove Boys. More details about this film and the artists involved and the series I’m working on can be found on this post and scattered across my two different insta accounts
