AlexandriaPelosi should be telling her mother to pull up HER DAMN BIG GIRL PANTS and STEP DOWN! Worry about her mother’s legacy after stabbing Biden in the back instead of disrespecting Dr. Biden! His wife has every right to feel what she feels! We all feel the same! Damn.

stop telling people that voting doesn't matter stop it stop it
incremental change is frustrating and feels like it gets nothing done but it's how the american government works (for better or for worse) and if you get paralyzed by 'we need to revolt voting doesn't matter' that's one more effective vote for the fascists since it's one vote we lose.
I'd much rather have slow but tangible progress (or even just prevention of fascist progression) than everyone sitting around going 'let's wait for the revolution' when no revolution is likely to come while everything gets worse around us.
Obviously, still do whatever it is else to support the antifascist movement. Donate where you can (and do your research!) Go to protests if you feel safe doing so. But do all that AND vote.

Congrats to Fulton County (Georgia) District Attorney Fani Willis who just won the Democratic primary for her current position by a 7 to 1 margin. Ms. Willis is the prosecutor behind the indictment of Donald Trump and a number of other GOP miscreants in the 2020 election interference case in Georgia.
Fani Willis's Republican opponent in the November election, interestingly, will be a former intern at the Trump White House.
Willis, the Fulton County district attorney, easily defeated Democrat Christian Wise Smith. Willis and Smith, whom she also beat in the 2020 primary, both worked in the district attorney’s office under former District Attorney Paul Howard. [ ... ] Willis is now set to face Republican lawyer Courtney Kramer in November. Kramer, who interned in the Trump White House, ran unopposed Tuesday. Willis is considered the heavy favorite for the general election in Fulton County, which includes Atlanta. Willis brought charges against Trump last year for his role in trying to overturn the 2020 election results, as well as co-conspirators, which include Georgia GOP state legislators and the former head of the state Republican Party.

Look I thought about not being nasty. So I won't be to the extent I feel it. That being said: everyone who thinks
1) Harris shouldn't have focused on the center as much as she did, despite Biden being even more center than she was and winning in 2020 with voters who didn't bother to show up this time, and instead should have tried to pander to inactive voters who cared more about moral grandstanding than the rights of those around them or couldn't be bothered to show up without a pandemic on their minds.
2) That Bernie is right and the working class didn't show up for her because her economy policies weren't that good for the working class(they were, I read them), despite the fact numerous economists said he would at best put us in a recession and we were actually doing fairly well considering covid, and not that no one in this country actually understands the economy outside of stocks.
3) Or that any of the losses that occurred were not because of the fact voters have short fucking memories and democrats would rather stay home than protect themselves and their mothers, wives, sisters and daughters than vote for a black, asian woman.
Tumblr media
Like we can pretend that men haven't been in echo chambers online breeding incel communities. We can pretend that Harris was somehow way more awkward and stiff than Biden in 2020. We can pretend she wasn't competent in her presentation and messaging. We can pretend that FBI launching an investigation into racist text messages has nothing to do with the climate around the politics of this election. We can pretend that identity has nothing to do with politics despite evidence to the contrary but let's be fucking real.
People weren't willing to vote in 2024 without 4 years of hell fresh on their memory and a candidate who would stop it. Instead they got complacent with Biden making positive changes everyday despite the House flipping halfway through his presidency. The voters who didn't show up decided they didn't care about the threat to women's rights, or the safety of minorities or even FDA food inspections to name a few things of the top of my head, which honestly hurts more than the half of the country that wants him somehow. Because we know they could have made an effort. They just didn't.

Do any of the Democrats that’re currently demanding Biden step down have an actual solid plan for who else can defeat Trump and how? Oh yeah and their only legit option for replacement is Harris, anyone else they provide (ie Gavin Newsom) would be overriding her position as Vice President/Vice Presidential candidate and likely lose a LOT of Black and women voters. But if 2016 is anything to go by, as much as I believe she’d make a decent and competent president (and I’d still vote for her in a nanosecond if she actually was the candidate) she’s unfortunately incredibly unlikely to win against Trump at this point in time. And plus I don’t think she’s even entertaining the option; she has said she’s standing by Biden as his running mate. Here’s the thing: there’s only ONE PERSON in the ENTIRE COUNTRY who has EVER beaten Trump in an election, and that’s the person they’re currently trying to unseat. They’re gambling our democracy against the SINGULAR tried and true method of defeating Trump, and it’s a gamble I’m personally not willing to take.

Bernie keeps getting worse by kissing Trump & Musk's asses & I am so embarrassed at the fact that I voted for this guy in the primaries twice thinking he was super progressive. 💀

I miss having access to Respected Lawyer Friend to be able to ask questions re: justice system voting, because rn I'm just like 'I don't know what 'apply the law as written' means but given all the Republicans are using it I feel like it's a dog whistle for SOMETHING.'

there's a lot of uncontested nominees on my ballot and I remmeber last time I researched these people anyways and some of them should have been contested tbh I don't think it matters if I vote on those positions but I do vote for the ones I like and go uncommitted for ones I dont

Switched my voter registration to vote in the Republican primary instead of the Democratic one considering there's at least a chance that'll be competitive by the time it gets here and all the non-presidential offices have top-two primaries rather than party based ones.

"block anyone on your dash for not voting in this election!!!" babe i get what ur saying but im also not gonna block half my leftist mutuals just for being pissed off to the point of apathy and choosing to vent about it on tumblr. like i get it, i do, but also? nuance.
also here's a relevant newsweek article i read the other day. i think it's worth noting that voter apathy is very high rn and most of it is not social-media based (and the solution is not to cut out or block people who disagree with you, but it never is and tumblr users always seem to think it is so 🙄)
