Varali Warrick Space Scoundrel // Extrovert // Kid Stuff // Neon Street Rat
Good? Bad? Whose right is it to say? If there's anything you've learned while traipsing through the galaxy, it's this: space may look black, but it's really one big shade of grey.

Oppression of Love (Can I fight for my freedom?)
Keerti’s father gripped her hand tightly, as if scared she’d run away (Where would she run to?). The wedding drums sounded like funeral music. The blessings, like knives, stabbed her heart. She felt like she was a boat floating in a foggy sea; lost and alone.
Her father sat her down on a chair, and after a while she stared into the potted water and the face of her groom. He was handsome, but nothing could compare to Varali. Her only love. Her greatest regret.
Keeri remembered the day they met like it was yesterday. How they bumped into each other on navratri, how she danced and swayed in the band’s music, how the kind hand that she accepted was so, so soft. They were created to heal, to protect.
Arjun’s hand was rough, filled with scars and built to hurt. When they held hands around the fire, Arjun pulling her along as she stared at the tied cloth connecting them like a chain around her hands.
When Varali had never pulled her, only held her hand as Keerti led her through the market stalls, wary of any white officers guarding the edges of the place. Her lover would whisper to her dreams of a free Bharat, a whole Bharat, where they could live freely, without the oppression of the White Men of the West. Where they could love each other freely, without fear of death.
But it was still a time of revolt and oppression and blood and death. If Keerti couldn’t find the courage to fight against her own marriage, how could she hope to fight for her country’s freedom?
She took the garland in hand and placed it around her husband’s neck, imagining her lover in his place for just a second. The illusion vanished when he placed the garland around her neck. It felt like a noose, cutting off her breathing. Keerti wonders if this is how Varali felt in her final moments.
The carriage ride to the mansion was agonisingly long. Her ‘husband’ gripped her hand tight. She stared into the the distance, imagining her late lover’s eyes as they landed on her standing among the crowd. Her face covered by cloth, and her final cry of “Jai Hind!”.
Keerti was pulled back into reality by someone shaking her shoulders. She was there at the doorframe of the house, the tamba of rice in front of her, waiting.
So she put her right foot forward, and toppled the tamba-
And toppled off the roof.
White Rice spilled onto the floor-
Red blood soaked the grass.
Arjun smiled at her face.
She could see Varali’s eyes.
She was finally home.
She was finally free.

{Would you believe me if I told you I made this for a school assignment from my IT teacher?
It was a proxy period and she told us to make stories and tell them in class. I told her I could make her a story but I’d need time. That night I watched ‘Ae Watan” and got inspired. It wasn’t even supposed to be angst.
She has never bothered me when I sleep during class till date. I should totally do this to all my teachers.}

ftr: Virtual Hydlide
Sistema Saturn | Produttore Sega | Sviluppatore T&E Soft | Versione Americana | Uscita 28 aprile 1995
Tumblr media

Zato, nemojte nikada i ni pod koju cijenu prodati SEBE, svoje principe, i iznad svega onog "čovjeka u ogledalu"!

The Sanjay Subrahmanyan paradox
Tumblr media
Let me begin like a textbook- The Sanjay Subrahmanyan concert/fan paradox may be defined as an audience state of mind, where you have listened to it all, yet it feels fresh and impressive each time you attend his concerts- where you have spoken about it and tweeted about it, but still want to keep talking about it. You just don't know what to write but all you want to do is, share that last concert experience with common minds. Where you are bashed and mocked for being his die-hard, but that critique only keeps pushing you to be a deeper die-hard!
We the Sanjay Sub fans have not changed- we keep singing his praises. Nothing is new right? But wait, wasn't this all impossible for a whole three years-where we were all masked up and not knowing what the future of music itself was? That tunnel seemed like it had no light. And those of us who progressed to be his fans all started with being curious backbenchers in his overcrowded concerts. Slowly inching ourselves towards the dais-for we wanted to catch his every expression (I miss taking photographs by the way :)) To us Sanjay meant amplified mass energy but paradoxically personalised and customised music. His viruttams would translate to personal philosophies according to each one's situation and struggle in life.
However, truth be told-during the last two plus years sitting amongst some minimal audiences watching this doyen perform some of his signatures was not easy. That was a time I tried controlling tears because I just could not relate to the experience. The fact that a performer like Sanjay was suddenly restricted to a limited audience and all we could do was access him virtually and vice versa was a very hard reality to accept.
Why would that be? Because this man is a man of the masses. He draws his energy from that overwhelmed audience who in turn submerge him in their uproars and ovations. That relationship was real. It could not be boxed into virtuality. A Sanjay concert translated into crowds of energy. Live electricity and human fireworks!
I genuinely missed that exchange of vivacity that a Sanjay concert was. But as all things would pass, that phase is also “hopefully” behind us. Couple of his admirers also fell along the way causing us some deep moments of grief. I have seen Sanjay through their eyes, and I miss that profoundly. All the losses only made me reflect and appreciate whatever is left of life and music, so to say.
After the confinement stage and those moments of melancholy we are in the era of live concerts once again. My own life moves at such a fast pace that each day’s events roll by like a film strip and I wonder where am I in all this cosmos? What’s the role am playing? City hopping and transport jumping - amidst a brash cyclone I land in Chennai for yet another Sanjay concert.
And as I sat there listening to his Mohanam and Kamboji and Varali -suddenly those pieces that kept falling apart started regrouping themselves. At the very least I know I belong here. I have waded through floods in this same city listening to the same Ambigai Jagadambikai for patience through those waters. I know that his music gives me what is needed to wade through this uncertainty called life. Amidst all the changes and losses his music has remained my constant.
And watching him yet again, all over again, in his elements- where he , like a magnet, absorbs the spirit of each person in the large audience and gives it back multifold through his unfeigned renditions was a scene that could not stop me from jumping with joy. His impeccable renditions enhanced by the season’s magic, reawakens my spirit! It makes me dance internally along with his brigas in glee, it makes me admire the way he weaves his own persona into every phrase of the music - when all else fails there is always Sanjay’s music to fall back on.
And for the moment while we are all still alive and kicking, the surety of his large live concerts, all over again being the key phrase, lingers…
Like someone rightly said, his energy is therapy. He is made for a large audience and those overflowing audiences are made for him. In this ephemeral eternity, his concerts are hope!

Hi there! Just wanted to let you know that I was inspired to write Nihil/Sister smut after I saw your art entitled "Golden". It's a gorgeous piece and I feel it showcases Nihil's immediate post-Dance Macabre mindset, which is still one of wariness and wonder. If you'd like to read the fic, it's called "Something Within Your Eyes" over at AO3 (tumblr won't let me link it, unfortunately). I've credited you there. Thanks very much! ❤️ -Varali
Oh my god??? That is so sweet???
Thank you so much!!
I'm so honored, and ofc I will read it ♥ Right now I'm working, but as soon as I can I promise I will, thank you so much again ♥ ♥ ♥

Desert Moon - Backstory/Fancast of Jasmine, the Sultana and Jafar
The plot for this video is based on the theory that Jafar is responsible for the death of Princess Jasmine’s mother to avenge the five years he had to spend in the jail of Shirabad, the kingdom of the late Queen. Credit for this theory goes to @Flicks in The City (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsM8vEuwYsk).
PLOT:
As a teenager Jafar was a common thief, who was eventually caught and spent three years in the Shirabad prison. This made him even more ambitios and he wanted more power, eventually becoming the Grand Vizier of the Sultan. He seeks revenge, trying to influence him into attacking Shirabad after murdering the princess of Shirabad, the Sulatan’s wife. The Sultan remembers how he first met Jasmine’s mother Varali (Indian name meaning Moon because of the song choice).
Jasmine knows that her mother’s death has had nothing to do with the people, who loved their Sultana and eventually sings the song “Desert Moon” with Aladdin, the lullaby her mother sang when she was a child. When she was young Jasmine loved to go to the market, which she still does in disguise, sneaking out after she has been locked away by her father. Everyone has known the lullaby, even Jafar remembers who the song guided him when he was a child.
During the party the Sultan watches Jasmine and Aladdin/Prince Ali dance and is again reminded of Varali. In the end Jasmine reaches her goal and her father realizes what a good ruler she will become one day, fixing their relationship.
I used three different movies/shows here: “Aladdin – Naam Toh Suna Hoga” for young Jafar, “Bajirao Mastani” for the Sultana Varali  and “Jhansi Ki Rani” for young Jasmine.
