Soulslike AU

Once upon a time, Wukong looked up to the sky with eyes full of light and aspirations. His soul sang with dreams and desire to touch the heavens. To become part of the Celestial Order, one of the many stars illuminating the mortal world - the brightest, the biggest, outshining all the others.

Not just for himself, at first. For his subjects, his lands, his moon that kept him warm on cold nights. But it was hardly magnanimity that was at the top of everything. Behind the desire to give to others sprouted just as much a desire to take, to appropriate only for himself.

In canon, Wukong is humbled and shown the right path where cruelty has no place. In this AU, Heaven fails to catch the skittish monkey. In his greed, the Sage ceases to see boundaries. There is not a single living being who can stop a wild animal who thinks he is a god. There are no rules. Only greed.

With unlimited power, Wukong continued to climb forward. Further, higher. Why stop there? Why worry about the pitiful lives crunching beneath his claws and teeth? Ahead, at the very top, lies the forbidden poisonous fruit. The deities and other celestial creatures meet the blood-intoxicated monkey in all arms. Even with sweat dripping down their necks and weapons in their trembling hands.

The Celestial Realm loses with a cacophony of alien screams and falling debris from buildings.

Many years pass before one wanderer meets one child in a devastated world.

Wukong hardly had a plan, but his treacherous actions were clearly sequential. Heaven fell first, then the bloody gaze traveled lower. Dragons were a race that had been despised by the Sage long ago. Only the most skittish and the most unsightly survived, hiding their brightly colored skins at the bottom of the seas and oceans. One of the first places Wukong decided to visit with his bloody march was the palace where the staff was located, whose iron he was using to take lives.

Ao Guang was the one who decided to fight back against the madness that enveloped the King's mind. He fought desperately, with the realization that he could not win the battle. This gave enough time for those who also realized their own and the world's hopelessness to escape.

Nailing the dragon's body with his staff, Wukong kept the old man awake long enough to show him what happens to those who go against the Great Sage. Mei, being the youngest and most confident at her misfortune was a gift of fate to Wukong. With her help - Wukong could give a perfect lesson to the surviving worms that called themselves dragons about the foolishness of the idea of fighting back. Having shackled the girl, he left her at the very shore, with no way to get back out to sea. The bayonets-strong ribbons glinting in the sunlight from every attempt to break free of the shackles-clenched the bulky body with scorching pain. She remained there, still struggling to break free, unable to see the light of the sun that had long ago hidden the stench of death Wukong had brought.

I Ponder The Humble Blob Ghost!

You think they are what happens when you ALMOST but not quite A Ghost(tm)? Like, you have the ectoplasm and the will to continue... but you didn't really have A Thing in life? No Final Crystalizing Thought that brings focus? Just "ow! Ah! I'm scared. Don't wanna die!" And theeeeen.... *poof!*

Why am I Orb? Am squish? No bones.

Like? Remove any one piece of the Critical Formula and you get Blob instead of Ghost? Different KINDS, mind you, but blobs none the less.

Like Skulker! Not enough Ectoplasm. Ended up Blob. He CLEARLY had the Will, the Obsession, the gory end and unfinished business... buuuut? No green goo to power the creation of a full body. He clearly knows what he's supposed to LOOK like? But it's not something FIXABLE? Even with his now unlimited access to Ectoplasm.

Like in utero damage that permanently stunted his growth. HE is fine. All his facilities are on-line and checking in as they should, for the level of sentience expected of a ghost of his people. He just... smol. Same strength, intelligence, and power as he would have always HAD...

He just got handed a really, REALLY crap "customize your eternal meatsuit" option screen. Like for real guys. Basicly NO options. His salt is eternal and entirely justified. He could have had his tattoos. He paid a LOT of credits for those! Sat for DAYS! Had to track down this One(1) artist on this SHITTY little trading hub, that BARELY QUALIFIED as one, to sit in on uncomfortable overturned crate... IN A GAS MASK because the AIR SUPPORT KEPT KICKING IT... for hoooours!

It was a WORK OF ART. You would have CRIED.

This is BULLSHIT.

But wait, I hear you say, staring at the Blob ghost chewing on a lamp post. The one that has wii music playing behind the eyes. No thoughts, head jello, one might say. What about THEM?

Good point! Remember that formula?

LOT of Ecto! But THAT... might be either an animal or a fungus. We'd have to check. ANYTHING can and DOES die. If it's alive? It can die and potentially leave a ghost. But! Consider the noble Ghost Rabbit! *holds up squirming rabbit that is ABSOLUTELY trying to both bite me and kick me in the face* A noble and friendly creature!

THIS is what happens when an animal: has sufficient Ectoplasm at the death site, a reason to continue living (fairly common. It's usually their offspring, escape, the instinctual drive to survive itself or other understandable base drives. Like love, loyalty, or hunger.), and that all important High Emotions End.

Miss any of these? You get Blobbertson over there! He's clearly a hungry boy! But! Not very DRIVEN is he? Just floating along, chewing on whatever seems interesting, looking for a snack. He's food motivated. But not MOTIVATED motivated.

Blobbertson over there? A peaceful death. Too much Ectoplasm too leave, too food motivated in life NOT to carry over, but? No DRIVE. To DEFINE and DEMAND the Ectoplasm in his little body become sharp and active. No highly emotional state to stir it into action.

Is Blobbertson INCAPABLE of higher emotions? No. He is every bit as capable as the Ghost Rabbit that has savaged my hands and escaped while you were reading. It was, in fact, NOT as friendly as originally assumed. I may be bleeding. Unimportant. Blobbertson is PERFECTLY capable of getting attached. Being trained.

Whatever level of intelligence Blobbertson had in life, still remains. And WITH that? Comes the ability to improve and grow in death! IF (and this is the big one) he ever finds MOTIVATION to do so.

Because you see, Blobbertson is quite happy. No thoughts, brain jello. Drifting along in a happy green ocean like a jellyfish. Only concerned about his next snack. It's comforting. His food obsession filled, his tiny motivation barely enough to move him place to place.

He would GLADLY sit in one place and eat for the rest of eternity. Head blissfully silent.

And that's OKAY! It truly, honestly, is. Not everyone has to be conquers and kings, crafters and cosmonauts. Sometimes you just want to spend the rest of time playing in the sand. Resting on a sunshine-y hill. Not EVERY soul is a loud one.

This is the INFINITE Realms.

And there are places like Amity Park out there. THICK as cold honey with Ectoplasm in the air, gently infusing all the life that grows there with greater and greater chance of Ghost-hood. Even the peaceful blinking awake after that final rest to look down and... little nubby green paws.

Congratulations on becoming a Blob, grandma! Yes, I imagine you ARE furious it is inordinately difficult to knit like this. No, I don't think complaining to the king will help, MeMa.

That said? I can not tell you if Blob Ghost all belong to the same Family or the same Order, but they are NOT the same species! The WAY in which you fuck up that ever vital Fomula results in WILDLY different Blobs! Was it an animal? A sentient species? A sentient PLANET? A complexe interlocking colony of fungi? What was the EXACT Ectoplasm concentration at the death site? Was that the historical levels or the At Death levels? Was the individual under sedation?

Yes! All of this IS in fact, VERY relevant!

And you think it ends THERE? HA! The SKIES are FILLED with Fighty Mother Fuckers! Ghosts LOVE to fight! It's built into their social dynamics and hierarchy! Good ol brawls to get the Ecto pumping!

And THEN you look not even a mile east? And it's the floating island of Blobs. They LIKE that rock. It's just an ever shifting, accidentally rolling off the edge, falling slightly, making an offended squeek, and floating back to the top of the pile to repeate the process, MOOSH of thousands of blobs. No one's certain if they used to be seals or some sort of cat.

Apparently THAT island is Warm(tm).

So there they sit. Making contented noises, chirping and shoving for the best spots. They never leave. You can literally just... float up and sit on them. It's amazing. You gotta be careful not to get buried, but it's So Soft and bouncy? And they are ALL making that soft happy Blob vibrate noise. It's like a giant, island sized, warm and almost fuzzy but not, water bed that massages you.

Just DON'T start anything there! Holy SHIT are they territorial. You Will Die. They SWARM.

And THATS not even getting into the Blobs that are? Literally brainless. Some people eat those. Which? I guess? They ARE basicly Ectoplasm jello. But SOME of them are NOT? Like... it's a debate. Hot button issue, ya know?

Some fungus turns into Ecto Jello with negative IQ and delicious insides. Is this food? But OTHER fungus was SENTIENT in life and become a whole RANGE of Fungus ghosts, from Blob right on up to complexe dryad like ghosts! Clearly NOT food unless you are a MONSTER. But THEY argue the FIRST group are ALSO not food?

Plant Ghosts have strong opinions and are willing to Gruesome Violence about it.

Which brings us back to the Humble Blob Ghost! Check before you pet! That might be grandma! Or planning to eat your hand! Just as Mammal tells you little to nothing about what animal you are looking at, so too does Blob and Ghost! Stay safe out there! And if anyone sees a glowing green rabbit? I want my blood back! That's supposed to be in MY body! Rude!

Accidental Meteor Showers

You flopped onto your bed with a loud groan. Today hadn’t been the worst, but by no means had it been the best. By this point, nobody was bothering you in the barracks. The higher ups backed off, the other soldiers had settled behind them. Nobody wanted to deal with the wrath of your summon, who incidentally, was the source of your ire today.

Not once had he shown up for you today. Most days, he’d at least conjure a tentacle to slap at whatever was being thrown at you, but today he left you entirely on your own. It was a humiliating experience. If it weren’t for König’s intervention earlier, you’d surely be a laughing stock now, if you weren’t already. The next time you saw him-

A shadow flickered in the corner of your eye.

Son of a bitch.

“You!” you drew yourself up to glare at the offending presence, “where were you today?”

The dark shape stilled.

“I know you’re there. The lights flickered,” you growled.

And from the shadows he came. Once, his agile elegance enthralled you. Today, you were preparing to strangle him.

“Summoner?” König at least had the sense to sound off-kilter.

“Where were you?” you snarled as you crawled to the foot of the bed.

König glanced down at your posture, then back up to your face, “You’re not coming any closer, Summoner.”

“Make me!” you launched off the bed only to be pushed back down by an invisible force.

You thrashed fitfully against the pressure only to be flattened like an indignant child. Your limbs were stretched out as König slowly approached to loom above you.

“I had hoped we would be in a different set of circumstances when I had you like this before me,” he mused as you pulled against your immaterial restraints.

“Shut up!” you yowled, “I’m gonna-fuckin-I’m gonna punch you!”

König blinked slowly, “You are going to punch me?”

“Yeah!”

“And you suspect telling me this will encourage me to let you do as you please?” König sounded far too amused for your liking.

“Well, duh,” you rolled your eyes, “I’m your summoner. You listen to me!”

König walked around the side of the bed until he loomed above you. He leaned in until his hood draped over your face, leaving only his eyes visible to you.

“No.”

You managed to get your head up to smack his forehead, but he seemed unphased. Or rather, you phased right through him before falling back.

“You’re such a dick,” you seethed.

“You haven’t even told me why you are in such a cantankerous mood today,” König scoffed as he casually sat on the edge of the bed beside you.

You slumped back onto the bed with a pout. He was right. He was always right. Why did he have to be a cosmic being with unlimited knowledge and power beyond your understanding? Why couldn’t you have just summoned a stupid imp like you’d planned?

You sighed, “Okay, so, did you get any of my summoning calls today?”

König tilted his head.

“Any of them?”

“Summoner, are you saying I didn’t come to your call?” König seemed to tense up, “we both know that would be a strict violation of the bond we made. Are you suggesting that I am threatening the bond that I graciously offered you?”

You flushed, but pushed on, “Then where were you today? I called you at least five times!”

König seemed confused.

“But you didn’t,” König said slowly, almost as though you were the stupid one here.

“Excuse me!?” you spat, “what do you mean ‘you didn’t’!? I was calling you all day! Where the hell were you?”

König squinted. With a flick of his wrist, you felt the pressure relax and you were able to move again. Without missing a beat, you threw one of your fists at him. He caught it with a simple movement and pulled you into his arms.

“Summoner, I have a proposition for you,” he chuckled as you struggled against his hold, “why don’t you try summoning me here? Call it a test.”

“Why? So you can ignore me again?” you snorted.

“Just try, Summoner,” he pushed you to your feet towards the centre of the room.

You stumbled forth like an awkward duckling before catching yourself on a side table. You took the time to cast a dirty look at him, then walked to the center of the room. You took some chalk from your pocket and drew his symbol on the floor, carefully tracing the design on the hardwood with slow and steady strokes. You sat in the centre of your symbol and closed your eyes. You took a deep breath. The ancient words to summon König flowed freely from you, letting you feel the arcane power surge through your entire being, pulling you further to an enlightened place beyond comprehension. Or, well, you would have if König hadn’t placed a hand over your mouth.

You spluttered and pulled back with a furious look.

“Summoner,” König drawled, “you drew the wrong symbol.”

You blinked. You followed his claw to look down at the ground, but everything seemed perfectly in place. You stared at the ground and then back up at him.

“The third moon is waning, not waxing. And here,” he tapped the centre of the symbol, “you drew the constellations upside down.”

You squinted at the squiggles. Then it clicked.

You gasped, then covered your mouth as humiliation flushed over you.

“You’re right,” you squeaked.

“You’re lucky nothing responded to that summon,” König snorted, “or you would have had your flesh stripped from your bones.”

You paled.

“I jest, Summoner,” König playfully shoved your shoulder, “but in truth, you must be careful when drawing my symbol, lest you dredge up undesirable sorts. If you’d like, I can give you a reference.”

You sighed and hung your head.

“Please,” you held up your hands.

He took your right hand in his and brought it to his lips. He kissed it briefly, then let it drop to your side.

“There,” König said as you raised your hand to take a look. There, on the back of your hand, was a burned in tattoo of his summon. He’d branded you. You should have been furious, but you couldn’t help but find it so beautiful on your hand. It looked like it had always belonged there.

“Thank you,” you cradled your branded hand to your chest.

“Anytime, Summoner,” König ruffled your hair playfully, “now come, today has been long. You need rest.”

a look at magic and the core system

the core system explanation and my loose idea of what magic is. this uh. this got long. this is a longass post.

my thoughts on magic

i have this idea that mother nature, while creating her earlier lifeforms, used magic as a sort of bind-all, something modeled after the overarching powers of time and creation, etc- giving them extra powers and extending their life (like a kid making their first ocs). most of her older creatures are on planes higher up and function on magic. as she got better with her craft she began to appreciate the complexity of making all those bits and pieces stuff on earth has, and the faster ebb and flow of life AND death. humans are one of her favorite creations.

magic is inherently chaotic. it exists in multiple forms, on multiple planes. it's something that touches things in a biological way and yet obeys physical laws set before it. it can be stored and used up. it can create more of itself. it can corrupt things. when mother nature realized it was a bad idea to give near-unlimited power to beings when she was creating ones of lower ability on the planes below, she changed magic and the creatures that used it- gave them weaknesses, sometimes bordering on the ridiculous, compulsions too. things to keep them in check.

i also like to think you can't entirely 1:1 seelie to humans on even a biological cell-scale. they just fundamentally are different.

magic's function

the more pure magic is, the more powerful it is- magic comes in all colors of the rainbow, but different colors have slightly different attributes. one can never truly filter one color out of magic entirely, as it needs all its components to function.

with the True Fey nearly extinct, the only beings that can use raw magic without the assistance of a device or sigil are genies, and i'd argue they got quite the short end of the stick considering their compulsion.

fairies, fey and their subspecies primarily function on purple magic. this stuff is filtered, diluted, as "neutral" as one can get. if you create magic rather than consume it, and your species functions on filtered magic, you cannot handle it raw. like, your body can't handle the extra energy. physically.

magical backup is when a fairy has so much magic in their system they cannot filter the chaotic energy that magic produces and explode.

filtered magic is also, simply, on paper, easiest to use. as a third party, non-seelie magic user- use raw magic while unprepared and get evaporated while changing the laws of physics. use overfiltered magic without the correct sigils and nothing happens except maybe a bitter taste in your mouth.

onto the core system.

the core system

the neural core is where magic flows freely up towards- the filter strains clean, purple magic from the magic produced by the central core. conscious wishes are also made from the brain connected to the core here.

the central core is where magic is generated. the central core takes calories and nutrients from ingested food (fairies have a stomach that is right next to their core) and converts it into magic. the core membrane acts as a storage for filtered magic in both areas.

the core pools are located at the base of the wrists of a fairy, which are where excess magic flows and stays in anticipation of use. when a fairy exhausts the magic from their pools, they must wait until they begin to refill from the reserves in the core membranes.

the inner cores are the most important part of the system; if this part of a fairy is damaged they will die. this part also holds the data for the rest of the body- if worse comes to worse, the inner cores will maintain the body parts left and rebuild the core system before completing the rest of the body. this is in part why fairies are so gd resilient. no inner core, no regeneration.

magic threads are what magic travels along throughout the body. they are thick, wide tubes that extend through the torso and extremities. the central thread is also called a nervous thread. during pregnancy, the body creates a sixth thread (and sometimes seventh) to deliver magic to the developing child's core.

fairies produce raw magic in their central cores. they have two cores- a central and neural core, which are connected to each other through the nervous thread and extend to their magic pools and flow magic through the body by the four magic threads.

anti-fairies are where all that excess magic goes when fairies filter it out. anti fairies don't need to generate magic or filter it- they can handle it just fine. they have a simpler core layout- a thick core membrane to hold their magic and the excess chaotic magic swirling about in their inner core. this enables anti-fairies to grant powerful rule-free wishes. anti-fairies tend to have strange colored magic threads, generally aligning with the color of their counterparts' eyes.

pixies are quirky things. pixies have the same amount of cores as their fairy cousins but do not produce raw magic. they instead need to feed on magical creatures (or take their magic supplements, as provided by pixies INC) to keep their core systems afloat. another issue is that most pixies' core filters still work- which would be fine if they produced magic. pixies overfilter their magic, leading them to use a highly complicated wand (along with several binding contracts) to utilize the magic still delivered to their core pools. (it's also a phone. why not toss that in for free? Head Pixie was feeling really nice when he made that decision.)

pixies have a very large core filter and membrane in their neural core, with a small central core and large magic pools. their magic threads are thin.

PLUTO AND HOW IT RESPONDS TO OTHER PLANETARY ENERGIES

The energy of Pluto never showcases itself the same way from chart to chart. People with prominent Pluto placements are passionate and deeply emotional, but the ways in which they express this intensity differs greatly from person to person. Looking to other planets that also hold a dominant role within the chart can be telling. Since Pluto is ruled by water, it is fluid and molds itself to other energies present. 

Sun - People who have prominent Pluto and Sun placements are the ultimate powerhouses. Their energy is seemingly unlimited and they shine almost too brightly. I’ve noticed a lot of prominent historical figures have these types of placements. They are unforgettable as people and leave a strong mark on the world. Their hair is usually dark and they have features that give off a high contrast. Visually they are striking and have the type of mane that resembles Scar. The energy of these types is especially regal and they demand respect. 

Moon - People who have prominent Pluto and Moon placements touch other people's hearts deeply. These types are extremely empathetic and have an innate understanding of other people's emotions. They may be psychic and a bit of mystique tends to follow them around. No one fully knows what exactly they are up to in private and can’t make out their true intentions. Other people can’t help but trust them, but become frustrated when they realize the energy is not reciprocated. People with these placements have a need to protect themselves and are not forthcoming with their own vulnerabilities. They tend to have round watery eyes. 

Mercury - People who have prominent Pluto and Mercury placements are dangerous, and I mean this in the nicest way possible. Their minds are as sharp as a knife but they are smart enough to know not to reveal this. They are much more intelligent than they appear. At first glance their cool, easy-going nature can be quite unassuming, but behind this facade they are calculated and running off nervous strain. They are the ultimate perfectionists and not a single detail goes unnoticed. They are master manipulators and know how to make a situation work in their favor. 

Venus - People who have prominent Pluto and Venus placements are truly beloved. They are placed upon a pedestal by everyone because at first glaze their immense value can be seen. They draw in a lot of jealousy while at the same time have many followers who admire them. Their physical appearance is beautiful and enchanting, people can't help but assume that they must be talented and smart. Their energy is alluring and soothing. They are innate healers and their kindness has a deep impact. An issue of gossip and rumors may be present in their life.

Mars - People who have prominent Pluto and Mars placements are fiery and take passion to another level. They are relentless when it comes to achieving their goals and their ambition is unmatched. These types know how to wield power and have a strong desire for it. There is a tendency for people with these placements to be overly sexualized. Other people frequently discuss the appearance of their bodies and hyperfixate on certain aspects of their physicality. They may experience a higher degree of violence throughout their life in comparison to other people. They have strong defense mechanisms and are constantly on guard. 

Jupiter - People who have prominent Pluto and Jupiter placements are highly intelligent and the knowledge they hold seems to be unlimited. They grow the most from trauma and know how to turn disadvantages into opportunity. The hardships they face are transformed into wisdom and they give out the best advice. They never let anything get them down and always move forward in life with grace. They have a large presence and their energy takes up the entire room. They also have big, beautiful smiles. Those with these placements have a dark sense of humor and can say morbid things without spoiling the mood. 

Saturn - People who have prominent Pluto and Saturn placements can be too nihilistic at times. They have a realistic perspective on the world and are especially prone to depression in comparison to other people. They become obsessive with figuring out what exactly is wrong with themselves, the world, and nearly everything else. They want practical solutions to their problems and they never rely on hope. They never try to avoid suffering and instead expect it, understanding that it is inevitable. This is what keeps them so low. Even during the happiest points of their life, they know that soon enough certain things will change for the worse. 

Uranus - People who have prominent Pluto and Uranus placements are the ultimate rebels. They are highly controversial and love shocking other people with their own originality. These types embrace their uniqueness and use it as a defense mechanism. They know that there is no one like them and relish in their own individuality. Their innovative ideas could have a powerful impact. Those with these placements appear to be alien and seem like they’re not supposed to be from this planet. Other people make them out to be incredibly strange before even taking a chance to get to know them. 

Neptune - People who have prominent Pluto and Neptune placements have an energy that is almost too difficult to place. They seem so far removed and it is hard to figure them out. They are often caught drifting off into their own world and they feel an intense pull towards different realms and are not grounded. Those with these placements are psychic and it is important for them to pay attention to their dreams. In a strange way, their fantasies are revealing of reality and act as a mirror. They are often overlooked and remain unnoticed.

When you stop to actually think about it, the situation the octolings go through in pretty horrifying. Not just living in a home where the sky could collapse on them at any moment, but the futility of everything they're doing.

We learn in Splatoon 3 that some octolings clans (like Shiver's) lived above ground. They never went down into the Octo Domes, and became well-established to the point of being almost ruler-like? I don't think it's made clear if the great clans that Deep Cut hail from are seen as lords over the Splatlands or what, but they're clearly influential and powerful. So the octolings... really didn't need to spend all that time suffering.

Every one of them could have waltzed onto the surface and easily integrated into inkling society, and no one would bat an eye because as we all know: inklings are stupid as shit! They didn't care when Marina ended up there! So they wouldn't care about others.

So what was stopping them?

Could it be that the higher ups of the Octarian army, those closest to Octavio, were so blinded by their loss, by their sense of pride and their own selfishness, they felt the need to prove they were better than the inklings? To prove they didn't need their "blessed surface", and that they could survive just fine on their own? Their loss was humiliating, and for their superior weapons to lose to such a weak enemy, clearly they need to show their strength to persevere through even the most horrifying of situations.

Clouded by their arrogance, the Octarian army could only imagine that the inklings were keeping the zapfish (and other energy sources) away from them in order to punish them for daring to fight in the Great Turf War in the first place. They were so caught up in this loss they didn't realize inklings had forgotten all about the war within two generations! That sure, the inklings might have learned about it in school (as we hear from Pearl), but they don't know much else other than the basic facts.

And so, the younger generation of octolings suffered the most.

While the generation who lived through the war were trying to return to their glory days, desperate to show off their power and abilities, the newer generation of octolings are forced into fighting for a war they never wanted from a young age. We don't know if all octoling training starts at age 6, but Marina is certainly a case of it. Regardless of when they started fighting, they are fed propaganda and lies from birth.

Inklings are dangerous. Inklings are evil. Inklings will destroy you if they see you. You must avoid them. They hate you because you are an Octarian. That is why you must train.

And they have no choice but to believe it, because they've never seen anything to the contrary. They live in these crumbling domes, they know the inklings live on the surface with unlimited power, so of course they have to believe what their higher ups are saying, and what their own eyes are telling them. The new generation of octolings embody the teachings of their predecessors. As much as it might hurt to fight, as much as they are run ragged and used and abused, it's all for the best. It's for their protection. For their safety. If they step back, if they refuse service, then they're letting everyone down. The Octo Domes would lose power forever. How can you leave your own people to die? Are you selfish? Do you think the innocent must suffer? No. You'll be a good little soldier, and you'll follow orders.

But in the end—as the octolings find their way to the surface after Octavio is defeated and the Zapfish is recovered for the first time—they find out that everything they had done was for nothing. They lived through horrible conditions, believing that inklings were punishing them, only to come to the surface and find that none of it was true.

Are any of them resentful? Do some think of their time underground fondly (like Marina is implied to)? Do they see it for what it was: a futile attempt at holding onto some semblance of dignity after their humiliating defeat to an enemy who couldn't even wake up on time?

Or are they left deeply scarred by it all? Hurt that the older generation—the ones who were supposed to know best for them—would turn their backs on them and let them suffer for a so-called "greater good" that didn't even exist!

Some ramblings about how my own OCs fit into these thoughts are down below. Feel free to skip if you don't want to read something less canon!

Sashi was long trained into being the perfect soldier. He was bio-engineered for it, spliced together using the genes of other soldiers that came before him. He is mistreated by those above him... and it's deserved, isn't it? After all, he isn't an actual octoling. He was created, he wasn't born naturally. So he isn't really sentient, is he? He's just a thing. A useful tool for what the Octarian army wants to accomplish.

And so as he's mistreated, he starts to embody that too. It takes finally escaping to the surface for him to realize and come to terms with the fact that what happened to him wasn't deserved. And I think that, while he isn't resentful, he is angry at Octavio. Sashi looked up to him when he was younger: the brightly shining king who clearly wanted what was best for his people. But when Sashi learns that every was for nothing, well... he certainly won't be happy about it.

Except... we find out that Octavio (and some of the other higher ups) would have never dreamed about treating Sashi the way he was, or any other experiments for that matter.

Yes, Octavio was blinded by his own pride and dignity, but he genuinely wished the best. And to him, creating an army of super-soldiers that could fight to protect them in battle was the best decision to make. So then why? If Octavio never ordered the cruel treatment, why did it happen?

Let's go back to the propaganda and lies: many octolings would believe it. They would grow up hearing about the glory days, the stories of war... and they want a piece of that pie. They want to be a celebrated war hero, they want to rush into battle and defeat the inklings that keep them oppressed in the dark for so long. And with that desire to fight comes a penchant for cruelty. So they treat the experiments—and other lesser soldiers—poorly. Because their job as soldiers is to fight fight fight and keep fighting, so it won't hurt to push them far beyond the limits of what is humanly possible, right?

And Octavio is blind to all of this. He is blind, and it seems like he doesn't care.

So they are left to suffer in silence.

There was a great battle and Lucifer and his followers (about a third of all the angels) lost, were punished and thrown out of heaven. They now work against God and his holy angels to try and stop people knowing God. Angels (and the ‘fallen’ angels) are not normally ‘visible’ to our eyes. It may be that they can choose to reveal themselves to us (or when God allows us to see them). Having said that, angels, if allowed by God, can also appear as ‘normal’ men, as described in the Bible when Abraham and his nephew Lot were visited by ‘men’ The archangels have a more powerful, stronger essence than guardian angels. They oversee and guide the other angels who are with us on earth. As opposed to our guardian angels, the archangels can be in more than one place at a time. They don’t all have wings! Only certain types of angelic/heavenly beings are described as having wings. Angels also don’t know everything and can’t be everywhere. They serve God and follow his commands. Seven archangels supervise other angels who work in teams to help answer prayers from people according to the type of help for which they’re praying. Since the angels travel through the universe using the energy of light rays to do this work, various rays represent the kinds of angelic specialties.

Something I have noted before is that as a technocrat utilitarian-esque person (not a Benthamite or anything), my commitment to democracy as a political system is pretty instrumental. If an enlightened despot (like say me!) ruled the country and employed idk large advisory councils to make the people feel heard while still deciding on policy themselves, and that system functioned better than democracy by the admission of its own people in some "objective" way we could know, that would be fine, I would be okay with such a system. All government, even democracy, serves humanity, not itself. I am such a strong supporter of democracy not because it is ethically pure, but because enlightened despotism fails virtually every single time, the inherent politics of governance just make rule by a "people's mandate" more effective. I don't put the mandate on a pedestal, its half illusion anyway and is just a tool for a job.

And if I apply that logic to governance, so too must I apply that logic to protest. Its very common to critique radical political action from the lens of "they are a loud minority forcing its views on a silent majority" - and that critique is perfectly correct! The say Columbia protestors want the university to reverse policies based on demands they, a non-elected group, wrote up. Even if the "majority" might, if asked, support such an action, definitionally outsider political groups lack the tool of state to hold a vote on it regardless. Protests are, from this view, totally undemocratic. They often meet in the middle on this - citing polls or non-binding, ill-specified referendas and such, like in Columbia's case - but its still a compromise, very often a laughable one, they normally just put action above legitimacy.

But who cares? This is true of pretty much all protests, revolutions and such throughout history. If you opposed every single one of them then you do you I guess, but most don't. If the cause is justified, the strategy sound enough, and price worth paying, and you happen to win its worth it. Even if you don't, maybe its still worth it, history will decide. That is just reality; no political system, anywhere, ever, has functioned on unlimited consensus -almost all assign the large majority of agency to non-democratic forces. Dissident movements certainly can't be held to a higher standard.

So to apply it to the university protests, I personally don't think these protests have a viable strategy or even the right goals, so they aren't my pick of a horse to back. But the idea that its wrong for them to be "overriding the interest of the majority" yeah that is called politics. If the majority wants a voice, protest back, make your own plays, pressure leadership call in the cops (which, if the protest is bad, is also contextually fine to do! That has to go both ways), or do nothing and be confident in your silent power. The ethics complaint just isn't much of a criticism in my book.

Good morning babes, time for angst

So y'all know that one episode of Justice League Unlimited, "Kid Stuff", right? Where Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Latern (John Stewart) got turned into kids by Morgan Le Fey to defeat her son, Mordred. At the end of the episode, Batman says, "I haven't been a kid since I was eight years old."

Think about that. Now. Think of Billy Batson, AKA, Captain Marvel (Shazam), the secret child superhero who's been losing his childhood thanks to being the Champion of Magic. The age where he starts being Captain Marvel varies, but imagine if he got his powers at only eight years old.

Imagine Billy becoming a member of the Justice League only a few months later, and being a superhero for years. His coworkers were none the wiser, not even Batman.

Billy having so much responsibility and the weight of the magical world on his shoulders from a very young age, and he's never once had someone help him or asked for help (besides the Wizard and Tawny). He's encountered so many dangerous threats and attacks on his life, both as Captain Marvel and ad Billy, but continues to fight everyday for the sake of everyone else. He loves his city, his friends, and the people that will never know him. He's truly pure of heart.

Now. Imagine an accident happening years later when Billy is like 15 years old, where his age gets revealed to the league and everything is in chaos. Members are confused, upset, angry, shocked, but most of all, they just don't know what to think. An important member of the league has been revealed to be a kid this entire time in secret, hiding it from them for so long.

A meeting is immediately held and Captain Marvel is forced to attend not as Captain Marvel, but as Billy Batson. The chair and tables feel so much higher than before to him, but he sits down at his regular seat and looks at everyone in the eyes. They argue, question him about everything, but Billy is surprisingly calm and mature about everything. He shouldn't be this mature. He'd still a kid, someone says.

"I haven't been a kid since I was eight years old." A sentence that gives Batman chills. Billy hasn't been a kid in so long, and neither has he.

He never knew it before, but they were so alike this whole time. Opposite on the spectrum, but still the same. Two sides of one coin are still made of the same material.

Maybe that was why Batman speaks up for Billy after that, and stands up for him to continue being a league member.

You wake up to Gojo showering your face with kisses, his clinginess evident from the tight grip he has on your waist despite the early hour in the morning. It's not often that you get to wake up to him being still in bed, he usually leaves early for work and he does everything in his power to be subtle about it so that he doesn't wake you up from your slumber. He tries to clear his schedule on Sundays with the intention of spending at least a day alone with you, without being bothered by curses or higher ups. You appreciate his efforts of maintaining a healthy relationship with you, but you feel slightly annoyed for waking you up so early on a day you get to sleep in and relax.

"Satoru, it's way too early for your shenanigans." you mutter while pulling the soft duvet over your face, desperately clinging onto the little sleep left in your body.

"Don't be like that, my kikufuku! I've barely seen you all week, the strongest needs your attention." he whines as he pulls the blanket off of you. An irritated grunt leaves your lips and you keep acting like you're still asleep. You can feel him moving around slightly and you open one of your eyes to take a glimpse at him, but you quickly close it upon meeting his cerulean eyes, a small giggle leaving your mouth from being caught. You open your eyes fully, taking in his appearance. His hair is messy, the soft white strands framing his face nicely and his pretty eyes shine with a certain adoration that is reserved for you. Sometimes he is thankful that he has to keep his eyes hidden away from the world, it could be dangerous for others to see the soft spot he has for you. You open your arms, inviting him into a hug. He doesn't hesitate, he slips back under the blanket and slowly lowers his body weight on you as he buries his face into your chest with a satisfied hum. You run your fingers through his hair, scratching his scalp lovingly. Suddenly, his stomach churns, a clear sign of him being hungry.

"Thank you, baby!" he whispers softly as soon as you finish arranging his hair so that it's not caught in the soft fabric covering his eyes. He leaves a soft kiss on your lips, one that is sweet like sugar, just the way he is in general. He gets up from bed, his toned and lean torso bare for you to admire. He notices how your eyes linger over his body and he has to stop himself from making a cheeky remark about it.

He extends one of his hands towards you, in order to help you out of bed, mesmerised by the sight of your bare thighs and legs that are exposed from underneath his shirt that he put on you the night before. You brush your teeth together, he keeps on making silly faces in the mirror which make you laugh and he feels completely at peace. You fit into his life perfectly, everything feels so domestic his heart flutters with love. As soon as you finish getting ready for the day, he picks you up easily, he's the strongest for a reason. He tells you he wants to treat you like a princess and princesses don't walk around on their own. He brings you to the kitchen and sits you down on the counter and he starts mixing some batter for pancakes. You have to stop him from putting too much sugar in it and he pouts like a kid, but he still listens. He walks around preparing your breakfast like it's second nature to him, you sometimes find it unfair how he's good at everything. He plays some goofy love songs from the built-in speakers around the house and he sings along, making you smile.

You're glad to see him in that mood, childish and happy, something he was stripped away from in his early days, as he had to carry the weight of being the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerer since childhood. The tower of pancakes keeps getting bigger and bigger and he keeps cutting up a fresh assortment of fruits. He suddenly gets in front of you, making you take a bite out of a delicious looking strawberry he picked up on the day before on his way home. You hum from the flavour and the sweetness taking over your senses and he smiles contently.

His favourite song starts playing, one he heard for the first time the day he met you, flashbacks from that day flooding his brain. You were his new classmate at Jujutsu High and you were assigned on a mission with him so that Yaga could test your strength and willingness to fight. He remembers the crazy glint in your eyes upon exorcising a nasty curse and his admiration towards the raw strength you proved that day. You were easy to fall in love with and he was thankful he got to know you and cherish you over the years. As the song reaches the chorus he is stripped away from the memories flooding his mind and he observes the way you hum along, occasionally stealing a piece of fruit from the bowl beside you. He picks you up and puts you down, you feet are on his as he starts dancing around elegantly, guiding you with a strong grip on your waist so that you wouldn't fall. He smiles widely, content with the moment at hand.

"God damn, we've been dating for more than 5 years now, we do this every Sunday and you still don't know how to dance, darling." he says jokingly and you poke his ribcage, a high-pitched yelp leaving his mouth. You laugh, a simple poke of a finger could render the strongest useless, but you know that you are the only that can actually touch him like that, without the barrier of his infinity stopping you. He leans down to kiss you passionately, but you're still laughing and the kiss is ruined, but he wouldn't have it any other way.

Suddenly you smell something burning and he does too, so he frantically steps away, getting the burned pancake out of the hot pan.

"Throw that away, Satoru!" you yell at him, but he looks at you with mischief written all over his face. He takes a bite of it anyway, but he quickly has to spit it out into the trashcan. You laugh at him with disgust written all over your face, but he knows deep down you find his shenanigans lovely and funny.

"I love you, kikufuku!" he says as he finally places a plate of food and a cup of coffee in front of you, leaving a loving kiss on the top of your head.

"I love you too, you silly goofball!" you answer, looking at him with adoration in your eyes.

"Hey! This silly goofball could turn you into dust in mere seconds!" he says, his chest heaving as he is so full of himself.

"I would like to see you try." you smirk back.

"Oh, sweetheart, you don't know what you've gotten yourself into." he answered as he sits up with a mischievous smile on his face and you know this is the sign for you to get up and run, as you can feel a tickle war incoming. And as you start running around the house, him following close behind you with silly giggles, you appreciate the feeling of being in love with Satoru, the goofball. Because that's what he is in your eyes. He's not Gojo Satoru, the strongest. He's just a white haired giant who wears his heart on his sleeve when he's around you.

ATLANTA - A Fulton County judge has just overturned Georgia's "Heartbeat Law" abortion ban that made it illegal to terminate a pregnancy in the Peach State after the six-week mark.

Bill Cipher destroying his home dimension has always presented a clash of ideas for me, how did he do it?

We know Bill is from the Second Dimension, as in 2D, "flat minds, in a flat world with flat dreams", however, usually in media (and in theoretical physics), we associate more power to higher dimensions.

If Bill comes from there how come he's so powerful? How did he get those powers? Could that be the reason he regrets "liberating" his dimension?

Infinity does not mean unrestricted, it's still ruled by dimensions.

Bill could not have almost limitless power in our world if he's on a lower dimensional scale, technically.

If a 2D being is arranging papers they could only do so as a mosaic before it runs out of space, at which point we could come in and say "bro just stack them", and arrange those papers vertically.

For the 2D being all but one of those papers has disappeared, they are still there but they can't perceive them, should they remove the one paper they can see a new would "spawn in" to fill the void seemingly out of nowhere (a new one fell).

If we were friends with a 4D being they could pull some wild shit we could not perceive too. Like making a full room of boxes suddenly empty because they "just moved the box to a different time where the room is empty". Even if we time traveled to that room and find the box, we can't see the "obvious way" that 4D being used to place it there to begin with.

That is perfectly normal and there's nothing wrong with you. You just need to remember to look within and see where more forgiveness and acceptance is needed. You can't just ignore them all and block them all out and pretend it doesn't hurt you, because your consciousness created that energy to trigger you into healing yourself and your demons. More self love is needed, more self forgiveness is needed for creating the circumstances to begin with.

And maybe you're past all of this inner work, and I'm preaching to the choir, maybe you have forgiven and let go but you still want to check your beliefs and check your definitions to how you're defining circumstances. Everything serves you in some way no matter how negative it appears. Stay in gratitude for the negative and positive experiences and you will create a reality you prefer. Turn the lens on yourself and ask how you can react and choose better timelines for yourself. Thank your past self for getting you this far. You are doing the best you can with the knowledge you've accumulated, but now it is time to put what you know to good use for the entire Universe, your Universe of everyone in your reality. Remember if you want them to change, you must change first. The Universe says, " Show me your new vibration and I will show you miracles."
