sorry i may have been following for a long time and it shouldnt be like this, but somehow i thought machete was a borzoi specifically this entire time. is he a different sighthound?

His breed is fictional, but it closely resembles modern day Ibizan hound! He's mostly just a little fluffier here and there.

Compare that to borzois, who never have very prominent ears:

Both are sighthound breeds so they have similar long and narrow heads and the same kind of slim and leggy anatomy.

bill finn you genius when you made sure to grant all of your characters names and specific labels while only referring to aids as ‘something’ or ‘something bad’ to ensure that audiences first and foremost have concern for and realise the tragic circumstances for the people (who are easier to understand) impacted by the disease and not aids itself which is a direct contrast to reality where names like ‘aids’, ‘grid’ and ‘gay cancer’ were thrown around and even laughed at by people who have the power to fix it, while the victims and their loved ones were granted no humanity and dissolved into numbers printed into the new york times.

thinking about if/how the loss of opal as we know her will affect at all their perception of protecting the gods, especially compounded with fcg's death. when you reunite with someone you've missed so much and all he has to tell you is that his brother was killed by a god and his friend was forcibly surrendered to serve that god in the name of self-protection from predathos. when your best friend found so much hope in their god and went on this journey with you feeling like they were doing the work of a god who helped him find purpose, and all there is to show for it is a pile of scrap metal. how do you reconcile the idea that your mission is to defeat this entity that threatens the gods, when the gods are relentlessly demanding sacrifice and death from the people you love in order to protect themselves. how can you not think for at least a moment that maybe the gods deserve to be destroyed

god I love how this episode makes you completely recontextualize everything in both this and the previous one with the reveal of sanitized filter showfall uses, and its all revealed just from that one scene of charlie's dissection. the unanswered questions make it so much more rattling.

it paints such an eerie feeling over the entire rest of stream. any slapstick moment loses a lot of it's comedy because of the implied reality of the scenario. the reactions from those who broke free from the control helped sell it a lot as well.

the shot of sneeg staring in horror at charlie off screen while everything and everyone around him just kind of pauses? brutal.

and the fact that most of the offscreen deaths were never shown, but were often treated with the most sincerity as well. it both works as effective horror and also as a way to work around format limitations.

shoutout the fear of the unknown. it's such a good horror device.
