I hope leftists who think they’re above voting for president or are voting for Jill Stein or whoever because it’s their stupid way of protesting the system feel good about themselves, especially if Trump wins partly because of your negligence 😍 I know you’re not doing shit to plan the proletarian revolution, especially before January, so you guys better not complain about something harming you that you didn’t even bother to try and change
(edit: changed the last part bc I wrote “…if life gets a lot worse for you” cause that does nottt sound right at all and I apologize for writing that)
#if you have the option to help make change and do nothing then that’s your fault#ah yes! taking absolutely no action! that'll show the corrupt two-party system!#I’m literally a leftist too I don’t like aligning with the democrat party either but like… what other choice do we have right now#why not just vote for the one who sucks less#also you do know Jill Stein and Rudolph Ware don’t give a fuck about you or any leftist issues right#like they’re literally just there to get in the way for people who are too dumb to realize they’re basically just handing a vote to Trump#sorry for my raging here we see that I am very nervous for this election lol#and i know i'm being dramatic i don't actually want life to get worse for anyone but like... if you're anti-trump but don't vote for kamala#you're basically just getting what you asked for#american politics#vote blue#us politics#i know trump supporters are the ones to be angrier with ofc but this type of people are really irritating too#breaking: 20-year-old chronically online tumblr user changes the minds of thousands last-minute by ranting (/s)

See I feel like neither candidate is going to improve the situation in other countries but there IS one who seems like he would set off a nuke by accident if someone annoyed him on Twitter. So I will be voting
#i actually agree both parties are just two sides of the same thing however i believe in being practical#i can easily see how elected officials could make my life specifically worse. and i do care about that#us elections

This captures it. Chappell Roan is rightfully disillusioned by the two-party system.
Here are some of the correct responses to her (justified) criticism of the U.S. government.
#a lesser evil is still evil how don’t Americans understand this#it’s her fault she understand critical thinking and nuance bc we know most Americans have no idea what these things mean#she’s an ardent supporter of Palestine and of oppressed communities ofc she doesn’t fuck with the two party system#I’m begging Americans to think critically and educate themselves#but I suppose it’s not their fault that their government keeps them stupid on purpose#y’all would freak out if you ever met real life political dissidents#the two party system does not have the best interest of the people in mind they’re all greedy corporate elites#free palestine#chappell roan#taylor swift#bc she is mentioned and compared here#neolibs are the most insufferable bootlickers#these are the correct responses to government criticism btw#us politics#politics#palestine#us elections#celebrities#celebrity worship#pop culture#jill stein#climate collapse#queer#lgbt#lgbtq#lgbtqia#lgbtq community#lgbt pride#Zionism is a disease

i’m constantly conflicted btwn “the us is a world power and an imperialistic force with probably unmatched cultural, economic, and militaristic power worldwide, so people from other countries have every right to have opinions on our politics” and like … being incredibly incredibly exasperated by all the posts by non-americans calling american progressives stupid and varyingly implying that donald trump isn't actually a real threat and we're all so stupid for not realizing democrats and republicans are just the same and not just opting out of the whole system altogether, because that’s apparently a remotely feasible option
#i think like acknowledging the ways the democratic party is incredibly flawed and increasingly splintering#and how harmful the two party system is#and the fact that both democrats and republicans are complacent (on different levels) in us imperialism and the military industrial complex#can happen without acting like both parties are exactly the same#and while acknowledging that a trump presidency would be the absolute worst outcome for every issue on the table this election#and it’s not even close. he is a very real threat not only to the political establishment or whatever but to people’s lives

"They both play for the same team and it's not your team" 🎯🎯🎯
Ah yes, the 3rd party paradox: 3rd parties "failing" to become viable/legitimate election options only bc of the false belief that supporting them = voting for the worse duopoly candidate. And I say "failing" because we're currently seeing the Dems throwing money at freezing third party candidates out of the running.
And way too many regular folks would rather instill fear than galvanizing folks come together.
the uncommitted movement gained a ton of traction during the primaries. So much so that Dems and their supporters came out swinging with the fear tactics in response. "You better vote for Biden to save democracy!!" while ignoring Biden funding genocide with US tax dollars, pushing propaganda on national tv, condemning those protesting genocide by calling them antisemitic, working towards banning TikTok to control the narrative, and repeating the same campaign promises from his 2020 run that he did nothing about during his 1st presidency.
#us politics#2024 presidential election#3rd party candidates#lesser of two evils is a helluva drug for too many of y'all#joe biden#trump#jill stein#voting#november election

US politics and history time for a moment...
The people who want to claim that voting for Biden would mean they supported genocide remind me a great deal of the people in the 1830s - 1860s in the North who wanted immediate abolition because they believed slavery was a sin and God would hold them guilty of that sin if they didn't oppose slavery. This sometimes resulted in them supporting 3rd party candidates that, SURPRISE!, did nothing but push the election toward the most rabid pro-slavery candidates.
You know what most of those moral anti-slavery people didn't care about? What happened to Black Americans. They were concerned only about their own guilt, not Black Americans' welfare.
None of these people making this a moral issue now show any signs of caring what happens to Palestinians OR to all of the other groups that will suffer if the dumpster wins instead.
Biden can't wave his hand and make it go away because the US doesn't have unilateral power worldwide (though some Americans seem to believe that, sigh.) There are limits on his powers, especially since he has to negotiate with a hostile House of Representatives. He has chosen what is actually a pretty effective route and fought for at least some aid to get to Palestinians. And currently he has *some* leverage with the Israelis.
The question you should be asking yourself if you really care about genocide is which choice will do the most to help the Palestinians? Do you really think the dumpster would do even as much as Biden? Or would he be actively helping them and every other imperialist country (*cough*Russia*cough*)? And who else will suffer if he wins that would not under Biden?
If that isn't what matters most to you, then you're no different from the moral abolitionists and other Northerners who wanted slavery restricted (because it depressed wages for free white men) but also wanted to make it illegal for African Americans to move into new states like Ohio and Indiana and Illinois (racism and fears of wage competition.) Or to ship them to Africa, no matter how many generations had been in the US?
It's not idealism. You're self-centered and egotistical and actively choosing evil if you think "punishing" Biden is the result of not voting.
Vote pragmatically. Vote strategically. Vote with the welfare of the most people possible in mind.
#us politics#us history#And don't bring up effing obscure 3rd party candidates until they *aren't* obscure any more#And have a broad base of local and state and congressional office holders for that party to support them#And a political record that proves they can do the job#I got sucked into that once when I was much MUCH younger and saw an election go from a moderate candidate I wasn't enthusiastic about#To one of the worst presidents we've ever had#Voting for one of those in a national election is effectively voting for the dumpster#do you really know how the US government works?#Anyone who wins has to be able to get Congress to work with them and your 3rd party candidates have virtually no connections there#Your 3rd party candidate would effectively have to become a member of one of the two major parties to get anything done#But without the support of that party's political machinery etc. especially as they approached re-election

Why are you telling people to vote for the guy committing genocide :/
because voting is not an endorsement it's harm reduction.
Trump is going to be at best doing the same as Biden and likely much worse for Palestinians and all the countries suffering from American Imperialism than Biden is.
Republicans want to bring back child labor and get rid of social security, medicare, Medicaid. As someone who is surviving on Medicaid and social security I don't want those taken away. The Republican majority house already put a lot of limits on food stamps in this past term and I don't think we'll still have food stamps if we get a republican Congress and a Republican president.
They've made it pretty clear that if they get a republican Congress and a Republican president they're going to enact project 2025 and call a conference of states and try and take our rights back to the days when only wealthy white men had any rights when women and racial minorities had no rights, they want to make it illegal for LGBT+ folks to safely exist in public and get lifesaving healthcare.
In short
Do I support every single thing Biden has done as president?
No.
Do I like him?
Not particularly. But I'm still voting for him because apathy is not a choice.
Do I think that Joe Biden having another term means that we can actually make more progress for labor rights, trans healthcare, abortion access, advancement of the rights and protections for disabled people and so much more?
Yes absolutely.
Do I think that the genocide in Gaza needs to end and the United States needs to stop sending weapons to israel?
Yes, I think that un restricted flow of humanitarian aid into Palestine needs to happen, the siege needs to stop, and the country of Israel and the United States need to be held accountable at an international level. I think that the soldiers of the IDF/IOF need to be held accountable for their war crimes and pillaging that they continuously post evidence of on social medias. I'm trying to put a read more here so ce I've put a few linked articles and quotes from them.
A quote from the article below:
"While our map focuses solely on high school aged youth (age 13-17), some states, such as Oklahoma, Texas, and South Carolina, have considered banning care for transgender people up to 26 years of age. "
I've seen lawmakers in some states try to make it felony punishable by life in prison to get your trans child healthcare to keep them alive because they want to make it illegal for us to exist and a legal for anyone who helps us exist.
some quotes from the article above:
"Led by the long-established Heritage Foundation think tank and fueled by former Trump administration officials, the far-reaching effort is essentially a government-in-waiting for the former president’s second term — or any candidate who aligns with their ideals and can defeat President Joe Biden in 2024. With a nearly 1,000-page “Project 2025” handbook and an “army” of Americans, the idea is to have the civic infrastructure in place on Day One to commandeer, reshape and do away with what Republicans deride as the “deep state” bureaucracy, in part by firing as many as 50,000 federal workers. “We need to flood the zone with conservatives,” said Paul Dans, director of the 2025 Presidential Transition Project and a former Trump administration official who speaks with historical flourish about the undertaking. “This is a clarion call to come to Washington,” he said. “People need to lay down their tools, and step aside from their professional life and say, ‘This is my lifetime moment to serve.’” The unprecedented effort is being orchestrated with dozens of right-flank organizations, many new to Washington, and represents a changed approach from conservatives, who traditionally have sought to limit the federal government by cutting federal taxes and slashing federal spending. Instead, Trump-era conservatives want to gut the “administrative state” from within, by ousting federal employees they believe are standing in the way of the president’s agenda and replacing them with like-minded officials more eager to fulfill a new executive’s approach to governing. The goal is to avoid the pitfalls of Trump’s first years in office, when the Republican president’s team was ill-prepared, his Cabinet nominees had trouble winning Senate confirmation and policies were met with resistance — by lawmakers, government workers and even Trump’s own appointees who refused to bend or break protocol, or in some cases violate laws, to achieve his goals. While many of the Project 2025 proposals are inspired by Trump, they are being echoed by GOP rivals Ron DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamy and are gaining prominence among other Republicans. And if Trump wins a second term, the work from the Heritage coalition ensures the president will have the personnel to carry forward his unfinished White House business. “The president Day One will be a wrecking ball for the administrative state,” said Russ Vought, a former Trump administration official involved in the effort who is now president at the conservative Center for Renewing America. Much of the new president’s agenda would be accomplished by reinstating what’s called Schedule F — a Trump-era executive order that would reclassify tens of thousands of the 2 million federal employees as essentially at-will workers who could more easily be fired. Biden had rescinded the executive order upon taking office in 2021, but Trump — and other presidential hopefuls — now vow to reinstate it."
"There’s a “top to bottom overhaul” of the Department of Justice, particularly curbing its independence and ending FBI efforts to combat the spread of misinformation. It calls for stepped-up prosecution of anyone providing or distributing abortion pills by mail."
Personally I think that voting for Joe Biden is better than someone who wants to enact this stuff on day one. It's like they read handmaid's tale and want to make that the reality of this country.
"Chapter by chapter, the pages offer a how-to manual for the next president, similar to one Heritage produced 50 years ago, ahead of the Ronald Reagan administration. Authored by some of today’s most prominent thinkers in the conservative movement, it’s often sprinkled with apocalyptic language." Ronald Reagan is a big reason we have a lot of problems we have today with our economy and with a lot more things. The people that supported Ronald Reagan do not need another term in office.
A quote from the article linked below:
"Trump has given no indication that he would be more sympathetic to Palestinian claims, nor that he would place more pressure on Israel to agree to a ceasefire. “The approach of the United States would be that Israel needs to win this war, it was attacked brutally,” Trump’s ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, describing how Trump would act. Friedman is now a campaign surrogate for Trump."
Personally I think Trump telling Israel to finish the job is indicators that another Trump presidency doesn't mean that weapons would stop being sent to Israel from United States
I fail to see how another term of Donald trump will be any better for the victims of the ongoing genocide in Palestine than President Joe Biden.
i think our system is absolutely messed up and broken but I don't think abstaining from voting is going to actually help.
#I don't support the genocide happening but I don't think that a republican will improve the situation happening in Gaza#I think that there needs to be a lot more grassroots effort for any third party candidate to be viable on the presidential level#We have two choices this election another term of Biden or another trump term#(if by some miracle the republicans managed to elect anyone else for their party nomination I still don't believe that a republican will#Improve the situation of Gaza or anything the United States is doing in the international level)#Asks#Mutuals#Im open to having further discussion about this#Also since this wasn't a DM or marked for private response I'm assuming you're fine with me posting my answer publicly.#I tried to pick out decent articles to link sorry if there not the best#None of my responses above are me trying to be hostile or combative#I'm genuinely trying to answer this question and I am not great at proofreading before posting but I did try here#vote blue no matter who#vote biden#vote democrat#vote blue#voting#us elections#election 2024#trump 2024#2024 election#biden 2024#biden administration#president biden#joe biden#2024 elections#kamala harris#palestine#Israel

what really annoys me is people commenting that a vote for third-party is a vote for trump. like no, that’s not how this works. the point of a democracy is to vote for someone that you want to be in charge, and since no one really wants trump or biden, vote third party. i know how unlikely it is that a third party candidate wins, and you can blame me for trump getting elected but i just want to vote for someone i want
#us politics#presidential debate#2024 presidential election#2024#vote#and like do people think that the same two parties who have been in power for so long are ever going to let a third party in?#i’m probably naive and an optimist and all that but like whatever#rant#thoughts#democracy

Man I looked at Cornel West stuff for if he became president and like Claudia he wants to stop the Genocide on Palestine but man check this out. “Cease all war funding and weapons to Ukraine and invest in peacemaking. Cease military funding to the State of Israel. End Israeli apartheid of Palestinian people and press the UN to establish a program for Palestinian dignity and liberation. Cease all military support to nations committing war crimes.”
Oh boy am I excited for the third parties this year.
Me too. I think public conscious is finally shifting away from the idea that you have to vote your party no matter what, even if the nominee is committing war crimes. I think if the people that are saying they’ll vote third party this year actually show up and do it, then this election will hopefully be the first step away from the two-party system.

Irregularly-scheduled reminder to check your voter registration status.
Also remember you can cast a provisional ballot if Fuckery occurs at the poll on election day.
#us politics#the fact that they're literally saying 'you won't have to vote again' terrifies me actually#like#'if we win this election this will cease to be a democracy' is an actual thing one of the two parties in our two party system is saying#anyway I genuinely approve of Harris and Walz but I would vote for a moldy turnip over Trump because it would be harm reduction#we can work on shoring up the house once we are no longer in danger of having it burn down around us okay#I for one like having a roof to keep the rain off
