Tyrant Theory, Part 3: Sergei Vladimir and the Ivans
Name: Sergei Vladimir Age: Mid-50s in 1998 (pre-infection) Sex at birth: M Gender: M Pathogen: None Infection rate: Seriously, he just looks like that Emotional state: Masochistic Unique abilities: Genetic abnormality
Note: Because I'm focusing on pre-Tyrant Tyrants, I'm just going to talk about his unaltered form here. His altered form will come later, when I start getting into pathogenic genealogy.
Colonel Sergei Vladimir was born in the Ukraine during the mid to late 50s. I won't detail a lot of his younger backstory because it's...a lot, but some traumatic experiences in his youth gave him deep-seated masochism and a love of Joseph Stalin. While skinny and weak in his youth, in adulthood he would grow into an absolute behemoth of a man. He would join the Soviet army, and rise to the rank of a Spetsnaz colonel.
In the waning days of the Soviet Union he would take part in a human cloning experiment, where it would be discovered that he had a unique affinity for biological experimentation. Soviet scientists would produce ten clones of him, artificially aged, who he would adopt as his own sons, train, and lead into battle in Afghanistan.
After the fall of the Soviet Union, he would become Ozwell Spencer's most loyal retainer and volunteer for further experimentation. He sacrificed his clones to the Tyrant project, but considering they were basically him, they probably went willingly. Though not all Tyrants are his clones, his clones were instrumental in making the production model Tyrants a possibility.
Now, there is absolutely no evidence that Vladimir had any sort of virus in him as of 1998. He relied mostly on his personal tyrant, Ivan, in order to carry out his work, such as transporting the TALOS project or fighting off threats like Cerberus dogs and even Albert Wesker himself. However, there is no appreciable difference in stature between him and Ivan. He also seems to not feel pain and his wounds close up very quick, as he is constantly engaging in acts of minor self-harm. There's also his pale skin and white hair, which is typical of Tyrants who do not go completely bald.
In my opinion his massive stature, unusual strength, receptiveness to biological experimentation, and resistance to physical harm are close enough to a Tyrant that we can assume he is expressing some of the same genes. His remarkable intelligence is also a trait that the legendary Progenitors had, but is rarely expressed in modern Tyrants (probably intentionally). In short, Sergei Vladimir is as close to a Tyrant as an unaugmented human can get, and some of the most compelling evidence to my theory that Tyrant-like transformations are a trait that just exists in the human genome.
The Ivans were special t-103 models that were obedient to Sergei Vladimir. It's unknown where they came from or what sort of virus was used in their creation, but given their enhanced abilities and loyalty to Vladimir, it's likely they're survivors of his original clone unit. In regards to abilities, they're able to almost keep up with even the enhanced Albert Wesker, sprinting fast enough to catch up with him and even making incredible vertical leaps. The degree of athleticism shown by the Ivans is unparalleled among true Tyrants.
Next, I'll continue the pre-Tyrant Tyrants by talking about the undisputed queen.
Hint: There will be vampires involved.

i am almost constantly thinking about the mountain of implication, characterization, and insanely fucked up unspoken and unknown stories that are packed into the single paragraph of this ending slide for arcade gannon
#do you think arcade ever enjoyed the conversations. or enjoyed the certainly good treatment that he got by caesar's side.#and after that enjoyment; in the moments of realization that he had let himself forget exactly where he was#or those moments of realization that he had once again unconsciously tuned out the sounds of weeping slaves#who do you think he hated more: himself or caesar? or the courier?#and who did he hate most in the moment that he grabbed that scalpel?#and by all means ask me about my theory of caesar's repressed homosexuality that he can never ever act on#just saying that imo if the tyrant of the brutal slavedriving rapists was straight then he'd have a slave girl or two in his tent! yknow??#fallout#fallout new vegas#fnv#arcade gannon#caesar#caesar's legion

so I’m probably skipping this year for an Ides of March illustration, but I do have an Ides of March tag :)
#originally I planned to do an ides illustration every year but the only ideas I have are way too big to pull off in under 24 hrs#in theory. If I really felt like it. I could finish the remake of that one Trebonius-Antony comic I did awhile back#since it’s just two panels that need finishing for it to be done#but also I could lay face down on the floor and let moss grow over me#anyway have fun. stab a tyrant. I will be sleeping probably

Your boss can be friends with you, but you can't be friends with your boss.
Perfect example of different expectations of different societal roles. Considering everyone a friend is the quality of a good leader, it demonstrates affinity and empathy to the people of which he leads, but at that level no one can ever consider him a friend back, at least not on an equal degree. There's no closeness, no real camaraderie. The position of Prime always takes precedence over any personal relationships. He is a Prime before he is his own person.
This is also the reason why I think Optimus can never go back to being Orion. Why an ending for Optimus as the retired common citizen is never an option. He's been exalted as a political/spiritual symbol for four million years, used to a position of power, it's not something he can simply renounce one day and expect people's perceptions to change. It's not even possible to change his own perceptions of himself, however much he might like to. You just can't erase four million years of ingrained mindset. He will be viewed as a threat to those in power and undermine their presence just by existing. People will flock to him regardless whether he wants it or not. On a personal level, he's never been the kind of peaceful obedient citizen who takes comfort in trying to live a normal life. Giving up being Prime means giving up control: he will never be content to pasture himself out and wait for other people to make decisions for him when the next crisis arises. He will never be content to have his words hold no weight when he speaks out against the next injustice.
Being Prime is not just a job, it's an identity. One that's defined by four million years of experience in a niche societal role with very specific expectations, of which he'd molded himself to fit. It's a lonely, crushing burden, associated with war and the old order and the question of whether one person should even have that kind of power - but for good or bad it's also a part of him. Taking that away would be truncation, not freedom.
#idw transformers#optimus prime#maccadam#transformers#I think it's as impossible for Optimus to go back to being Orion as Shockwave is to go back to being Senator Shockwave#Or as Megatron the tyrant is to going back to being the Megatron in Maccadam's#There's mindsets you can't undo#experiences you can't unlive#People like that in real life rarely retires peacefully of their own volition#Those that do eventually comes to regret it#Because relinquishing your power also means relinquishing agency over your own life#it's the kind of life that seems beautiful in theory but would be stifling in reality

I still love that thing that the Mask of Power books did, in which they established Eon having some sort of telepathic link with his Skylanders. It’s really interesting, and I feel like it helps explain why/how Eon knows when to call the Skylanders back home if they’re tired or in trouble or something.
But also I imagine that it’d be very funny if this extended to Sensei Kaos and the other Skylanders, cuz let’s not forget: he’s still 100% a Portal Master. I love the idea of him creating his own mental links between him and other Skylanders just to be a nuisance. He keeps beaming thoughts directly into people’s heads and they hate it.
Aurora’s having fun though. She and Kaos keep using the brainlink to wordlessly quote YouTube Poops at each other. They deliberately get songs stuck in each other’s heads via telepathy.
#whissu rambles#skylanders#kaos skylanders#aurora skylanders#sensei kaos#brotp: kontrolled chaos#i don’t use their friendship tag enough aaAAA#i’ve already talked about the angst potential of the telepathic link in the past so for once let’s just think about the comedic potential#my faves can have fun. they can be silly.#aurora keeps brain blasting kaos with mambo no. 5 and he’s so sick of it#this can be seen either within the context of the ‘sensei kaos = real kaos’ theory or just the ‘sensei kaos is a clone’ thing#but i wrote this with—#tinker tyrant turncoat#—in mind

i want my roe to be from aerslaent so bad because 1) i like the wol not being from eorzea at all and 2) they are vikings and i lovev ikings..if you look at the world map the boats around there are all longships
the issue is that there is so little info on that place it is actually very hard to come up with a backstory for her now oops
the roe that became sea wolves left aerslaent to escape from tyrants so its actually very interesting to wonder what happened after all of those years to the remaining population. i was scared the islands are now uninhabited but i feel like the troll card confirms that roe still live there ?
#ouungdhnfgn take me there bluomwyda help me girl#i want viking .give us the forbidden viking#im dyiing because the roe that left were UNSUCCESSFUL with their rebellion so what happened to the tyrants?#are politics still majorly fucked there to this day? so many possibilities#my crack theory is that ketenramm is from there Or has been there And.Or will take us there since he is a roe sailor& explorer#and he hasnt done that much in the story yet so .#IDC about opening portals to other worlds i want to go home#her childhood on aerslaent will have to be vague but in general i imagine she grew up there but had to stay in sharlayan for a bit#then couldnt or wouldnt go back to aer so she went to eorzea#she fucked up brother#ffxiv#grymberk

*taps the mic* I'm back on my lore bullshit
The prophecy: "The Ancient Darkness will long last rise, and Black Clouds will eclipse the Sun. The Seeker of Light will be bound by Abyssal Chains, and the Servants of Darkness will grasp their Promised Glory. Ye who has faced the Darkness. Two shall be forgotten and Three shall halt in place. Where Two fade away and Three depart, only Four shall remain. In the end, as Dawn cuts through the Darkness, One shall vanish"
Based on the poster and the official in game list of 12 WoT heroes, the major players of the WoT are:
- Lord aka Traveller
- Philip
- Louisa
- Syphride
- Brandon
- Ondal
- Arkanath
- Walther
- Aslan
- Helga
- Raligon
- Icateztol
- Rozelic
- Miriande
- Ahilam Solas
So, knowing what we know about each character (9 recruitable WoT heroes) and all 12 now introduced, we can safely say that:
- "The seeker of Ligh will be bound by Abyssal Chains" - This one is Ahilam as from what we learned in the Book of Truth part 1: she was locked in an abandoned temple that was filled with loose curses. She was locked (?) and was a statue there. So, we can safely assume that she is the seeker, especially considering her titles of "The Last Hope, Unyielding Solar Guardian"
- "One will vanish" - this one is Lord obvs, they randomly appeared in the story to witness the history so during the final battle after the dust settles, Lord will "vanish" and return to their timeline
- "Two shall be forgotten" - that is Philip and Louisa. Based on the poster they will play a big role in the Book of Truth, more than Laphaes or Rosanna. In the normal, hard and extreme mode they have not been mentioned once. Not even by Schneider, the resident lore enthusiast. Plus adding to it that the striker set is called "Lost Hero's [blank]" and Louisa was seen in game using the spear as her weapon
- "Three shall depart" - this doesn't sound like the 3 will die, more like they are still alive but have left and live away from the civilization, so my guess is those 3 are: Miriande, Icateztol and Rozelic, as they live far away from the civilazation
- "Four shall remain" - my guess this talks about Helga, Walther, Aslan and Brandon - the four that remained on the central and eastern continent (Isola, Dakkeon and Gallus)
Now the most tricky parts are "Three shall halt in place" and "Two fade away".
Based on the extreme mode, Ahilam and Arkanath had fallen in battle. Raligon had sacrificed himself so I would say they are the ones who "half in place" aka they die
- "Two fade away" - I would say that means Ondal and Syphfride but in a different way, Ondal dies, while Syphfride takes a step back from the world. She leaves completly, not even wanting to come back to help when Avillon was fighting with Gallus
And that my gamers, is a game theory

A very general outline of how this AU's Staged Finale goes down:
So Tommy swings the Axe of Peace. And instead of turning into golden dust like a respawn, Dream shatters into pieces of light. The axe catches on Dream’s core crystal and basically knocks it so it hits the ground behind Tommy, in the middle of the gathered server members.
“What the fuck?” says Tommy.
“Language!” from Bad.
“That’s a core crystal. Dream was a Blade?” says Punz. He steps closer to the core crystal on the ground.
“Don’t touch that!” says Sapnap. He also steps closer to the core crystal on the ground.
“Chill. It can take up to three days for a core crystal to recover enough to be Awakened again.” But Punz steps back.
“Dream can’t be a Blade.” Says Sam. “Are you sure that was Dream?”
“Of course if was fucking Dream! You think I don’t fucking recognize how he fucking fights?” Tommy again.
“But if Dream is a Blade, who was his Driver?” Tubbo.
The problem is that Blades, socially, are seen as extensions of their Drivers. Most people expect that, if a Blade is doing something, it is because their Driver told them to. Anyone who has interacted with Skeppy on a frequent basis (and is aware he is a Blade) knows this is nonsense, but ingrained prejudice is strong. Tommy and Tubbo being mostly clueless about the Blade system actually puts them at a better point for recognizing Dream’s agency than anyone else.
Sapnap is having a breakdown. He thought he understood his friend, and then he thought that he didn’t understand his friend but that was okay because Dream was a bad friend. Now Dream is a Blade and some things are making sense but more things aren’t and actually his friend is for-real dead now. Not dead as in a canon death, dead as in the Dream that existed just stopped the moment he was returned to a core crystal. If it is Awakened, the New Dream will be similar but will not be the same person. The last bit hasn’t really hit him yet.
Antfrost and Bad have both been corrupted by the Egg at this point. They are surprised about Dream being a Blade, but are pushed by the Egg to want to bring Dream’s core crystal back to it. The Egg has a hard time infecting Blades, and only got Skeppy by a combination of lingering influence coming from Bad and long-term direct exposure. It is aware that any Blade in its power that reverts to a core crystal will reAwaken without the corruption, and has plans that revolve around trying to corrupt Dream’s core crystal itself.
HBomb, Jack Manifold, and Niki are mostly satisfied that Dream is not going to be a Problem any more. They are content to leave at this point. Niki did guess that Philza was a blade, and since Techno contacted her prior to the confrontation, she does inform Techno (who she thinks is Philza’s Driver) about the situation with Dream.
Callahan is worried about the situation. He wants to know who Dream’s Driver was. As a Blade himself, he is aware that a Driver does not absolutely dictate what Blades can/cannot do. However, a Blade’s relationship with their Driver does greatly impact how they see the rest of the world. Callahan is also aware that a Driver does not necessarily have to be on the same server as the Blade, seeing as his Driver Alyssa is off-server.
Ranboo is staying quiet. He and Punz are staying out of this discussion. Punz makes an excuse to leave early, and dips out while making motions to or saying something about Dream’s core crystal, which is still on the ground. Ranboo is hovering around, acting hesitant.
Sam also wants to know who Dream’s Driver was. He is currently the Warden of Pandora’s Vault, and while his behavior has not reached the point where it would in canon-timeline after overseeing Dream’s imprisonment, the signs are already starting. Sam thinks that Dream should be reAwakened and that they need to be careful about who Dream’s new Driver is to make sure that Dream is a Good Person in his new life (Sam is advocating to be the new Driver).
Puffy agrees that Dream needs a good Driver to be a better person in his new life. She thinks Sam is a good person for that. Eret weighs in at this point and mentions that Dream was a citizen of the Greater Dream SMP and might be better with them (this is part of Eret’s quest for reconciliation, as well as a bit of power-hunger. Eret is a weird character). Puffy says that Sam would be better because Dream shouldn’t be around/have influence in politics. She says Dream probably shouldn’t go with Bad or Antfrost for similar reasons. At this point, Eret leaves.
Tommy wants to know what the hell are they talking about. Why is Dream a rock? Why are they trying to revive Dream at all? It’s like they think that Dream isn’t a wrongun’.
*Blade system is explained to Tommy*
Okay, so the New Dream will look exactly the same as Dream. And act exactly like Dream. And you think it’s okay to wake him up because he won’t have any memories? Tommy calls Doubt with lots of cursing. Bullshit Dream was doing it on orders. It was only Dream demanding Exile. It was only Dream during Exile. Yeah, Doomsday was Dream + Phil + Techno, but Dream wasn’t getting puppeted by either of them. And if Dream was a Blade, why didn’t Dream ever use any of his Blade powers? None of them even know what his Soul Weapon looked like. They don’t know what his element is. Even healer Blades have some weak attacks, and he didn’t use an of that shit! Maybe Dream should stay a rock.
“What the fuck, Tommy,” goes Sapnap.
“Maybe Tommy should reAwaken him,” says Tubbo. The issue is that Dream hated Tommy, right? If Tommy is Dream’s Driver, then that can’t happen again. Dream will help Tommy, be his friend. After all, Dream was nice in the beginning.
Dream will be Tommy’s friend sets Tommy off. “Dream was never my friend and never will be!” This is lingering trauma from the emotional manipulation from exile. Meta note, the relationship between Tommy and Dream would not be healthy at this point.
“Dream should stay with someone who was actually his friend,” Ponk disagrees. Giving a Blade to someone who was their enemy seems ethically dubious.
“Sapnap,” says Quackity.
“Not Sapnap,” says everyone else.
“Fine, George then.”
Sapnap, who is still having a breakdown and is processing 1000+ things and just realized that George might have been Dream’s Driver, based the fact that he re-met Dream as George’s friend and also George’s weird behavior around the dethronement, “Not George.”
“You should leave Dream as a rock,” Tommy repeats.
“I still think it would be better if he stayed with Sapnap,” says Quackity. This is partly to support his fiancé and partly because he thinks having a Blade in his sphere of influence would help his plans. “What do you think, Ranboo?”
“Um, Karl?” It sounds shaky, and the pronunciation is weird. Ranboo leaves.
People present: Tommy, Tubbo, Puffy, Quackity, Sapnap, Antfrost, Badboyhalo, Ponk, Awesamedude.
Karl is friendly. He is minimally involved in server politics at this point (since El Rapids is mostly forgot about in comparison to L’Manberg, and L’Manberg is a hole in the ground). He is Quackity’s other fiancé, so this is still a good solution for Q. Tubbo likes Karl. Tommy is kind of “eh” about it, but he also thinks that Dream should not be reAwakened at this point. Everyone else talks over him. Sam is okay with Karl, but he would prefer to have Dream as his Blade.
“Sapnap, can you bring the core crystal to Karl?”
The core crystal is Not There.
Everyone freaks out. Sapnap demands that everyone empty their inventory. Nobody present has the core crystal (or they are pretending they don’t. Sapnap isn’t sure how much he can trust them). When was the last time anybody remembered seeing it? Well, that was when Punz pointed to it and left. Okay, so Punz doesn’t have it.
Who left?
Ranboo, HBomb, Eret, Niki, and Jack Manifold.
On the Nether side of the portal, EW!Ranboo drops Dream’s core crystal into Punz’s hand. Even if someone were to come through the portal now, they wouldn’t be able to see them. Punz was actively pushing aether into his passive powers, rendering the two of them completely unnoticeable. Once Punz has the core crystal, he steps back. EW!Ranboo completely loses track of him as he leaves.
EW!Ranboo scribbles the basics of what happened in his memory book, Dream tried to kill Tommy and Tubbo. We rescued them. Dream is a Blade and they are fighting about who Dream’s new Driver will be. I am worried about the outcome. Then he gives control back to Ranboo.
So everyone goes into the Nether, and they see Ranboo standing there putting away with his memory book. Ranboo says, “What happened?”
“Ranboo, can you empty your inventory?” The core crystal is Not There (anymore).
Ranboo apologizes to Tubbo, “I’m sorry. Thinks were very stressful. I don’t remember what happened at the confrontation.”
Three days later, Punz Awakens Dream as his Blade. “Hey, buddy. You doing okay?”
“…Resonance feels different from George. It’s weird to have a comparison.”
Results of Staged Finale:
Punz is not under suspicion for having Dream or helping Dream before he was killed. Ranboo is also not under suspicion. Dream has been reAwakened with all his memories (the experiments worked!). They can now continue further experiments in peace. Everyone at Staged Finale is now very suspicious of each other. The idea of someone on the server can just pull a Blade with Dream’s fighting skills, unknown powers, and the blind loyalty of all New Blades out of their inventory unnerves people. Tensions are high, but most people are reluctant to get into actual fights for the moment because what if.
Dream is avoiding the SMP in general, but if someone does see him he can just say “I have no idea who you are, got to go.” There is a greatly reduced risk of immediate attack as long as he pretends to be an amnesiac new Blade if he is discovered.
#dsmp#dsmp au#c!dream#staged finale#DSMP Blade System AU#basically Dream just revealed 1 fact that upended the entire world and ditched#no one is even sure what his element/powerset would be#given that most people still think “tyrant”#a lot of their guesses are wind/dps#or maybe fire/dps because of Doomsday#this absolutely started a conspiracy theory about whether he got killed/Driver replaced between early SMP and the first L'Manberg war#because god forbid people get a personality change after they've been backed into a corner for months and told their a villain for all of i

Resident Evil Lore Theory: Tyrants are not actually created by the T-Virus
Seems peak Hot Take to say that the Tyrant Virus doesn't actually create Tyrants but there's plenty of evidence of Tyrant-like transformations caused by things other than the T-virus.
Bitores Mendez: Infected by Las Plagas.
Result: enhanced size, enhanced strength, discolored skin
Giant Majini: Infected by Las Plagas Type 3
Result: Enhanced size, enhanced strength, discolored skin
You get the idea.
Lady Alcina Dimitrescu: Infected by the Mold through Cadou.
Result: Enhanced size, enhanced strength, discolored skin
Now, while we know there is a connection between the Plagas and the Progenitor Virus, we don't know if there's a connection between the Plagas and the Mold or the Cadou. It's possible some Plagas-infected were incorporated into the Black God Megamycete, and that's the source of the Tyrant-like genes, but even if we accept that, it means that the source of the Tyrant mutation wasn't the t-virus, it was the Progenitor.
But I think that connection is tenuous enough that it's possible Tyrant mutations just...happen?
My theory is that the reason the Tyrant-type mutation crops up in so many different mutagenic pathogens (mold, parasite, virus, etc) is because it's actually an atavistic trait locked in human DNA. Some people have it, some don't (likely related to the Progenitor Humans, from which the Ndipaya were descended), and the circumstances under which it activates determines the particular expression in an individual.
I will have more thoughts on particular styles of mutation later.

Heyo, you've mentioned that in your AU Crocodile isn't going to try to destroy Alabasta, so I was wondering if his end goal is still Utopia but he's going to try other methods or if he has a complete different end goal?
im thinking his main goal is to secure a safe future for luffy, this version of croc started baroque works and his schemes after luffy was born, so if he's aiming for a utopia of sort it'll mostly be for his kid.
#crocau ask#a 'it's all for you' 'thanks i hate it' sort of thing#the answer is a bit vague because im not sure how else to explain. canon croc's goals.... what are they really. whats up in his head.#an utopia is meant to be a good thing but for someone like him. what does that look like? why does he need pluton for it? is he trying to g#with that 'destroying redline is the final goal' theory thing? why does a villain that'll kill thousands like its nothing and calls out ppl#for having dreams and hopes work towards smth as idealistic as and impossible as an utopia? whats up with him. i really love the parallel#of embodiment of hope and freedom luffy vs nihilistic tyrant who got fucked over and lost all hopes to become pirate king. if their goals#turns out to have been similar all along. man. the croc intrigues me.

Manufactured SEEDs
Basically, the concept is that SEEDs once served as a “positive” force meant to permanently remove or separate negative emotions that were deemed unnecessary.
(I wish I could elaborate but I don’t really know how) (I wanted the idea that “SEEDs” have always existed or something unique to Fragaria Memories without being inspired to anything if that makes sense?)
Assuming that SEEDs existed during the time of Legendary Red, what if “Legendary Red” made the SEEDs but backfired and twisted the story that they saved the world of Fragaria from the SEEDs.
Maybe the SEEDs couldn’t be completely destroyed for whatever arbitrary reason, and the Strawberry King took responsibility to guard the last remnant of existing SEEDs left from this world of Fragaria?
Eldritt’s purpose is to keep the origin of SEEDs and the truth of Legendary Red a secret.
<- But at the same time, what good is keeping the truth hidden(?)) “To keep the world idyllic”(?) (How would revealing the truth about Legendary Red and the SEEDs affect the world?
(Maybe we can connect this to time loop theory(?)) (Do you think Halritt wants to keep the world happy by all means necessary) (and time loop is his only answer)
Do you think their existence evolved during their entrapment by the Strawberry King? They’re indiscriminately trying to feed from negative emotions because of this insatiable hunger they had for who knows how long?
How did they escape? Why did the Strawberry King disappear?
Lovers to the same lies— Protectors to sanctity, memories to sanity Red-splattered puddles dye into black I, the shadow to which you belong … strangers to the flesh. Fumbled darkness, the pitch-black mold. A stiff neck … Unable to turn. (Clocks unfortunately twist … A head rolls down.)

Once again back on my bs throwing out another insane but possibly valid Nexomon theory until Nexomon 3 finally gets a proper release date...
Going through the Abyssal DLC again, mostly finding hints on what they foreshadow for 3 (And it's quite a few things, a bit about sorcerers/witches already getting wiped off the map and a possible time-skip prediction of 100,000 years.), but the one thing that caught my eye was after the MC defeated Volcel [N:E Abyssal DLC part 4]. Long story short, it's heavily implied that the Abyssals were engineered like the Greater Drakes and/or Vados, but not in such an unnatural way that Deena couldn't have sensed it. In her own words, "Unlike the dragons and Vados, these Abyssal Tyrants couldn't have been forged by human hands."
Which leads me to the obvious conclusion (and indirectly the mad scientist Logan's): GENETIC ENGINEERING!!
And I'm obviously jumping on the idea that Metta made them (for obvious reasons) since resurrection would've opened up a similar scheme; besides, he's the only one of the fam with these skills so he had all that free time to do something else here. While following the assumption that the main element Abyssals (Fire, Water, Wind, Nature, Earth, Lightning) were modeled after the main Omnicron Fam, the Abyssals also share some physical characteristics with some Nexomon of N1 & N:E as well besides the nixed bag that is Venefelis, but I'll just go in order from appearance in the DLC then explain/ramble from there.
Major-ish spoilers for Nexomon 1 (& Netherworld dlc/arc) and Nexomon: Extinction w. the Abyssal dlc below:
1. Venefelis (Masquiti(?) + Kitsunox, Carnagrius, Fanfrou, Fuzztino, Felicient)
Like I said, Venefelis is such a mixed bag since she came out the gate just after Omnicron's bucket got kicked for good and the N1 protag thought any major world-ending threat was over and done for...Well that was a fucking lie and we all know it. While I feel that Venefelis got that hot-headed attitude (and obvious golden child syndrome) from the other cat-based 'mon, it's easy to see the similarities w. the Masquiti line even when they didn't appear until 1,000 yrs later in N:E (and the off-putting entry about Masquiti fits way too perfectly w. her "ghost" form Salem), but I digress. Whether or not Venefelis could be considered the first Psychic type after N1 (or the first uber-powerful Masquiti known to man), or maybe Metta made a replacement Omnicron on the side if his main plan failed (before he threw her out only to kill Hilda in revenge), that's already up for debate for me. [Also somewhat implying that Venefelis is a mutation of Kitsunox since the cape seems similar and she actively boasts about being the “perfect servant” in killing Hilda for a master she never knew nor witnessed (N:E Kitsunox are unwaveringly loyal too) but that’s my opinion here]…
2. Pluvean (Arqua + Harectic, Hydrose, Reeferus, Torrex)
Even if Arqua/Merida was always shown to be hotheaded and quick to throw a temper (even at the expense of a destroyed ship or two), Pluvean was only mean to be a sacrifice to either confuse the Guild on the Abyssals' purpose or direct their attention away from the real threats...Either way, he's pretty lax on what the Guild wants to learn from him (ie. the bare minimum) and is more concerned over why Venefelis revived him if he already completed his task with flying colors. While this might also relate to the calming nature of water as opposed to Arqua's unpredictable rage, it's an interesting starting point for the Guild (and MC) to figure out that the Abyssals are far from their usual brand of Tyrant. And I guess Metta wanted to see a cooler side to Arqua/Merida when she's not flaunting around with other humans, who knows?
3. Rotramus (Nara + Outgrov, Raksuma, Prisimazor)
While I'm not going to theorize if or how Metta got Nara's DNA to create Rotramus (which that would next to impossible without revealing himself), but it's pretty telling since the only things he has to do is 1. Hide from the Guild, 2. Nap out of sight of said-Guild, 3. Answer or follow any tamer's command without question or self-preservation if they find him (and 4. Deny and insult said-tamer's command without question if they attempt to turn him against the Abyssals); you know, it just like Nara's main deal of betraying Omnicron, joining the humans to destroy her dad and siblings, and wanting to live freely and independently as Deena. Even if Rotramus is perfectly harmless apart from not betraying the Abyssals at the drop of a hat, it's interesting to see how much of an iron grip Metta also has on the Abyssals despite none of them ever knowing their master by appearance or name.
4. Inominox (Ventra + Heliventus, Eqoloptera, Lurkennie, Voltosfrere, Swactrum)
Just like the vulture Inominox is based on, he fights only against tamers he considers weak and easy-pickings and has survived because of that for generations...Yet he heartily declares the MC weak and worthless despite after defeating two Abyssals at that point (Pluvean and Rotramus) despite clearly being the King/Queen of Monsters, then getting completely bodied in the process (mostly after using one Nexomon with a type disadvantage). Makes sense though since Ventra was always shown to be incredibly egotistical and overestimated her enemies in N1, so Inominox might've been so blinded by his cunning and "weakness radar" that he's the only Abyssal besides Helevolk and/or Braccus that don't immediately recognize the MC as Nexomon King.
5. Helovolk (Fona + Carnagrius (N:E), Oregoon, Treclay, Moltano, Shardrillion)
Sucks that I can't find an proper Nexomon to connect to why Helovolk is blind and as irrational as a ordinary monster, but it might relate to the theme of fire being a blind and destructive force if left unattended...Or Helovolk just got the worst part of Fona since he was just a bad-boy dude who always played by his own rules. Also putting in the revived N:E version of Carnegrius since they became increasingly violent after loosing their natural habitat, and Helovolk constantly digs a mindless series of tunnels to stay hidden and elusive...Maybe N3 will expand more on his personality/motives, but that's all I got for him here. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
6+7. Caelesa & Byeol (Metta + Raamu, Mistrallion, Starckal, Paupo(?))
I know I know, why add Byeol in the mix, aren't they supposed to be a regular ol' Tyrant? I mean, have you even seen these two side-by-side!? They might as well be half-siblings here! And if anything goes to show, if Metta dabbled with gene splicing with his own DNA, not everything was going to be all sugar, spice, and everything nice here (and probably experiencing ego-death with the "abomination" that is Byeol)...Maybe throwing in a bit of Paupo in the mix so the family resemblance isn't too obvious, who knows. Besides, they're both Normal type, they both have ring-like objects on them, and they both have a tendency to constantly evade the Guild's Tyrant witch-hunt without a care in the world...Possibly w. Byeol, but their lack of a noteworthy dex entry says as much (And on that note, it was only today ago that I realized that Byeol’s Nexomite/energy crystals are on the cheeks or might be the little stars floating around them…So I’m technically right and they have permanent dimples! 🥰). While Caelesa obviously has Metta's crassness around humans (only calling them idiots and getting huffy about the Guild labeling for a Tyrant for only running around as ordered), I headcanon that Byeol only avoids getting caught as a "game" and enjoys people-watching or nagging for attention so much that it easily weirds out the Guild. But I'm pretty sure Metta would've had a grand old time getting a 2-in-1 Tyrant deal while (possibly) pretending his mini-me cherub doesn't exist at all.
8. Braccus (Grunda + Broshield, Grath, Bitztrong, Rustung)
My boy Braccus is chonk supreme here, already topping off against all the Abyssals in pure strength and size alone (and makes it even funnier when his dialogue sprite takes up 1/3 of the screen on its own), but I have a feeling that this is the kind of terror and might Metta aspires Grunda to be before he "mellowed out" in N:E. Not that he did any kind of extreme damage on purpose, even Grunda's Chasm in N:E was made just from the Nexolord reviving him, and his entry mentions that it's only getting on Grunda's bad side when he goes on a rampage, so tamers and residents always had to walk on eggshells around him. But what does Grunda secretly want more than anything in the world? Take care of a small camp/village in the desert town Solus (aka Lateria in N:E) as its leader and as the human Ulrich (in the N1 dlc btw, sot it's an idealized verision of what he wants in the world...neat!). So yeah, even if Braccus was given actual freedom with distracting the Guild instead of a set-in-stone calling, he decides on his own that cold-blooded destruction was the only way to go...Until Xanders killed him, that is. And yes I will wholeheartedly believe that Xanders did it barehanded, he's just that kind of dude tbh. -Oh yeah, and who wants to bet that the crystal he has was ripped out of his chest? Either Xanders did it or Braccus did it for a power move, who knows?
9. Volcel (Luxa + Resonect, Resonic, Zappnic, Tephragon)
Isn't it interesting to know that both Volcel and Tephragon have an innate skill in tracking other people and/or monsters? While Volcel mainly used his skills to find a safe place for the Abyssals to hide in (aka. Precursor Mountains), his dex entry notes he "excelled at scouting and locating other living beings"...Maybe Venefelis revived him first to track the other Abyssal skeletons and find the mountain? Just some food for thought here...But yeah, I suppose Metta wanted his not-Luxa Tyrant to do something important and meaningful instead of being materialistic and smiting humans only for fun.
10. Kroma (Kromatice, Phantra, Hohopi, Rapilux, Dredrone)
And last but not least, the attack rabbit themselves! While I love the irony of a cute winged rabbit-fox thing having the power to control ghosts (and she was set loose in Immortal Citadel, you know, the one place already filled to the brim with ghosts...), I kinda believe that her appearance was purely meant to be a distraction to hide her true strength (apart from every other Abyssal I mean). While it doesn't clearly explain how Kroma controls spirits in the first place (and being strong enough to control Ulzar nonetheless), it might work like Dredrone or Phantra with a strange otherworldly energy or hypnotism. Sucks that she only got to roam free in a relatively short time, trying and failing to kill Hilda's apprentice Eliza, before Deena curb-stomped that pile of stuffing into oblivion (or not caring to do her mission with gusto since she knew their master won't show up, who knows)...But hey, at least we'll get to see them again in Nexomon 3...Hopefully.
Anywho, thanks for reading my growing brand of rants here, and here's to the future installment in the completely underrated Nexomon series!
#nexomon#nexomon extinction#nexomon spoilers#nexomon extinction spoilers#nexomon metta#nexomon abyssal spoilers#nexomon abyssal tyrants#nexomon byeol#Rotating more Nexomon theories in my brain like a microwave here...#If no one's gonna prove me wrong they're not going to do it anytime soon!#It's Nexomon 3 or bust babey!! >:D
