Oh I will never pass up the opportunity to talk about my shitty little bastard godwoken!
I decided to make her in bg3 bc sadly dos2's character creator just really can't compare but Yeah this is Vakora
Vakora is a half demon necro/pyromancer lich born into and raised by the Black Ring who frankly thinks that losing your meat when you become undead is a skill issue. Naturally, she's got the scholar, mystic, undead, and villain tags lol, with civil skill in lore master, and her talents are demon (unsurprisingly lol) torturer, savage sortilege, and glass cannon.
Because she's a lich, she's very delicate and fragile physically, and she absolutely has to be careful because uhhh AS AN UNDEAD LICH only source fueled healing magic will work on her, but considering she's got like 20 points in pyromancy, its not like she usually has a problem with enemies being able to get close enough to land a hit on her.
Also she's a lich on purpose, she learned how to turn people into liches from Tarquin specifically, and removed her soul herself and hid the soul jar in a safe location prior to the Black Ring getting death fogged, so even though she was right in the middle of the blast zone, she was able to walk out of it no big deal thanks to already being undead.
Of course, now most of the Black Ring were dead, and she really didn't have much interest in this supposed new God that most of the survivors were now pledging their allegiance to instead of Chaos. It wasn't necessarily that she was loyal to Chaos specifically, as it wasn't like she CHOSE to join the Black Ring, but she did think it was pretty pitiful for everyone to just up and switch allegiances at the drop of a hat, so she was basically like hm ok yeah, call me when you manage to find your pride and spine again. Before running off on her own to cause problems for the Divine Order by herself. She actually ended up on the ship to Fort Joy specifically because she wanted to go wreak havoc there on the magisters because so many of them all in one place? She's sighing dreamily imagining how much destruction a meteor shower spell would do.
But also because she's very interested in Braccus' research and absolutely wants to go poke her nose into all his old little hideaways. And no she doesn't help ANY of his victims bc she's an evil little asshole and thinks that most of his punishments were hilarious. She may or may not try to roast marshmallows over one of the burning pigs.
Understandably, Vakora isn't exactly popular with most of the other godwoken lmao, although they don't actually know any of the juicy details about her past in the black ring until they get to the nameless isle and the party is like uhhhhh why do all these black ring people know you by name??? For the majority of the game, all the party really knows about her is that she's an equally dangerous and deranged wizard, she's a lich, she has a really fucked up sense of humor, and she's not going to bother helping people if there's not IMMEDIATELY something in it for her. She doesn't actively go out of her way to hurt anyone (outside of the divine order) but she's not the first to suggest helping someone in need and the others will usually have to coerce her into it.
That said, she does get along with Sebille and Lohse very well from the start. Sebille because she can absolutely appreciate a woman who doesn't hesitate to try and kill her ass on the spot, and Lohse because she can absolutely relate to the whole everything and its grandmother constantly trying to possess you thing. Also, as a half demon herself, she has a lot of knowledge and insight on what Lohse is dealing with SPECIFICALLY, and basically the moment she meets her she's like "uh yeah that's a demon you're dealing with. Seems pretty powerful too. Honestly, i don't know how you're even still remotely in control of yourself right now." But although she does actually KNOW Adrahmalik from when they were both with the Ring, (although certainly not by NAME) she doesn't actually realize its him specifically that's possessing Lohse until they get to Blood Moon Isle. She also got along pretty well with Ifan at first, up until the point that he learned she was black ring, and then things uhhh went pretty sour between them. Sadly, in her main verse, things uhhh just really did not end up well between Vakora and those three at all.
Sebille didn't end up trusting her enough to share her slave song with her, so when they confronted the Shadow Prince, Sebille permanently became his thrall again, and so Vakora killed her bc she considered that the only mercy she could give her.
Lohse insisted on trying to ascend to divinity at the academy, and Vakora, having absolutely NO skill in persuasion, wasn't able to talk her down from it and it lead to Vakora killing her, because she agreed with Jahan about not allowing Lohse to ascend.
and Ifan wasn't willing to risk another divine rising who might be anything like Lucian, and he sure as hell wouldn't let a BLACK RING LICH ascend to Divinity, so yeah, that ended in a fight too.
As for other people, despite her tendency to be rather bitchy and belligerent, she actually was mostly cordial with people as long as they weren't associated with the Divine Order?
She got along well with Malady, though they hadn't known each other before the Seekers captured the Lady Vengeance, they knew OF each other. Demons like to talk and brag about their half demon spawn to each other apparently. They're both extraordinarily bitchy and snarky towards each other but its all in good fun, though most people around them usually can't tell they're NOT actually about to kill each other.
Garreth she couldn't fucking STAND and frankly the only reason she didn't just incinerate him the moment he started preaching about Lucian's platitudes is because she already knew that the seekers were now enemies of the magisters, and she wanted to see what was going on there before making any rash decisions. Surprisingly, she actualy doesn't kill him until the very end of the game where hes been turned into Lucian's silent monk
Now TARQUIN on the other hand, she gets along with GREAT considering he was one of her teachers in the Black Ring, and it was him leaving the Ring first that made her realize "oh wait i can just do that??" And then when they reunite on the lady vengeance its definitely a sweating nervously/spiderman pointing at each other meme moment where they both immediately recognize each other and pretend that they dont lmao. Of course, knowing EXACTLY what his specialty is, Vakora immediately realizes that Dallis almost definitely captured him to resurrect someone, but she just doesn't know WHO. and of course, no amount of her trying to pester him for the answer (in private of course, seh's not gonna air their dirty laundry in front of the party) will convince him to actually tell her who the fuck he rezzed for the magisters. She does still help him with Anathema though, and considering she ALSO already knows what anathema is, he's much more forthcoming about what she's even LOOKING for in the first place. Honestly, 10/10 student teacher relationship
and then there's JAHAN. LOL. Vakora certainly isn't scared of Jahan, but she is definitely wary of him. Though she is perfectly polite and cordial towards him when the party goes to find him to help with Lohse's little problem. The fact that he's immortal and she can't kill him if necessary annoys her, but at the same time, as a master of necromancy, Jahan immediately realizes that she's ALSO immortal as a lich and thus he can't kill her either, and so they kinda just both silently decide to try talking things out first since actually FIGHTING is pretty much pointless. After the inital uncertainty, they do end up getting along pretty well though! Jahan realizes that some of the rumors of her violence and malice are a bit exaggerated as its mostly just the divine order she's fucking up, and for the most part, she's just kinda bitchy and grumpy towards everyone else. Although he is genuinely surprised that she does earnestly want to help Lohse with her possession problem.
and speaking of Lohse's possession problem, that brings us to Adrahmalik lol. Adrahmalik was more than happy to pretty much overlook Vakora's existence, mostly because uhhhh he had a very strong vested interest in not pissing off her father who is ALSO fucking archdemon who was quite infamous for utterly DESTROYING other demons who tried to possess her (which frankly happened a lot during her childhood until word spread around that it was a very bad idea to even try) otherwise, Vakora would've been his first choice for a new godwoken host in an attempt to ascend to divinity, but he ended up settling for Lohse instead. anddddd then Vakora killed Lohse. and he was very unhappy about that. So when Vakora did end up making it to Arx in the final act, he absolutely did try to possess her bc he was pissed she deprived him of Lohse. Unfortunately for him, she did anticipate him trying to pull that so she did come prepared and she just killed him instead. Up until the point that she killed lohse though, all of his servants like the Advocate and all the other's and Blood Moon were perfectly polite and pleasant to her, showing her about the same kind of respect as they did Lohse.
Funnily enough, she actually DOESN'T reallyyyy have any strong feelings towards Dallis? But by that i mean that Dallis just isn't really unique to her. She doesn't really stand out much from the rest of Lucian's stupid little lapdogs even if she is a higher rank than most of them. As far as Vakora is concerned, she's Divine Order and so she's gonna kill her. It's really as simple as that. She does find it particularly annoying how much difficulty she seems to be having in killing this one particular member of the Divine Order but frankly as long as it ends in death, she doesn't care. After all, time is no matter when one cannot die. She has all eternity to kill her. And honestly, she really didn't care much about Dallis' dramatic reveal right before the final boss fight either. It really didn't change anything to her. As far as she was concerned, she was still a divine order lackey who needed to die.
Now as for Lucian? There is only one thing that goes through her mind when she hears his name. KILL KILL KILL KILL KILL. Considering she's been indoctrinated to despise him from the moment she was born, not too surprising there. Frankly, she was actually absolutely DELIGHTED to learn he wasn't actually dead at the final boss fight because it meant she had the opportunity to kill him herself. Like tbh she straight up did not really talk to him at all? Like, Lucian really only got as far as telling dallis to take the mask off before Vakora was like YAWN BORING NOT INTERESTED IN WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY and decided to chat with Braccus instead lmao. so really, she didn't actually hear anything about the tear in the source veil or all that because Lucian didn't get that far lol
Now Braccus on the other hand??? For the vast majority of the game of course, she has no idea that he's Vredeman, but she's spent her entire life studying him. Learning his techniques. Hunting down his research. What little of it was actually recorded and survived to these times. She thinks he was absolutely fascinating and utterly brilliant. And also funny as fuck. An absolute fucking ASSHOLE but still funny! Like, flaming pigs? Seriously? Hilarious. So she actually had a grand time sticking her nose into every little nook and cranny at fort joy and learning everything that she could about him. But funnily enough, she didn't actually think twice about "Vredeman" the few times she encountered him, mainly because her attention was immediately on trying to kill Dallis during those encounters. At least until she found Dallis' journal in arx talking about how she was keeping Braccus as a glorified pet. And then she actually had the opportunity to TALK to him before the final fight, and at first she was both disappointed and confused by the notion that THE Braccus Rex could possibly be enslaved by someone like Dallis, at least until Dallis brings out the leashing wand and Vakora realizes that he's actually not under her control AT ALL and is only pretending to be affected by it. So Vakora and Braccus end up chatting for a few minutes about divinity and she's basically like "well to be perfectly honest, i don't actually have any interest in becoming a god. I'm really just here to kill Dallis, truth be told. And Lucian, now that i Know that he's alive and well too." And Braccus just slowly raises an eyebrow like "Oh really? Interesting." and they kinda just look at each other before simultaneously turning to look at Lucian and Dallis who only have about three seconds to process what the FUCK is going on before the final boss fight starts lmao. With Vakora and Braccus against them and their minions.
So yeah, while the worst possible ending is the godking and eternals coming back from the void and enslaving everyone, another "bad for pretty much everyone" ending is "the godking and the eternals do not in fact make it back from the void but that's because BRACCUS is the new Divine and nothing is worth dealing with that." After the final boss fight, Vakora fucks off on her own for a while before eventually coming back to Fort Joy (which Braccus is unsurprisingly having rebuilt) to hang around and be the classic "my liege you should incinerate that guy for fun" person that every batshit insane god/king/emperor needs
DOS2 fandom, show me your Godwoken? Tell me about your Godwoken? (For example:) Who are they? What is their damage? What do they look like? Are there any differences between their in-game model and how you imagine them? What is their fighting style? Who do they love and why? Anything else you'd like to share about them?
Everyone who sees this post, consider yourself invited. And feel free to tag your friends if you'd like.
@flower-khajiit, @divinityiswasted
Just do it. This is a threat.
EDIT: Also, there's no time limit on this thing. I don't care if you find it years later. Always happy to see some blorbos - show me.
#oc: Vakora#she's an absolutely evil little shitbiscuit that a lot of people don't realize is incredibly fucked up and evil#because she's usually restraining her malice unless the divine order is involved#but unfortunately for Rivellon her main priority is increasing her knowledge of magic at pretty much any cost#so while she's not really interested in divinity she IS interested in picking Braccus' brain and learning everything he could teach her

Did I tell you about the goblins and the gnome? Don’t think I did. Doesn’t matter, you’ll just have to listen to me say it twice then, bad luck!
Goblins, sick bastards that they are, had a Drow gnome…fuck, wait, can Drow have gnomes? You know what I mean, right? Skittish little buggers from the Underdark… gnomes. Whatever, doesn’t matter.
Goblin bastards had one tied to a windmill sail and were spinning him round and round. I broke up the party and helped the gnome down. Didn’t quite catch what the tiny bugger said but before I knew it he was running off and saying there was a pack somewhere for me to find.
Fair fucks, I’ll dig it out and see if there’s anything worth it inside.

"Many years ago, there was a girl with the gift to see the future, the power to follow the tangled threads and see where it'd lead. She served a man called Braccus Rex, guiding him toward victory, yet when she spoke of his demise, he sealed her away, and she was forgotten by the world for a thousand years. Now she walks free again, and I will see to it that Braccus Rex meets his demise, that I will deliver him his final prophecy."
"I helped him while I still had flesh to call my own, that is true. It weighs on my heart, knowing that I do not regret it, for I had the misfortune of having siblings. Had I refused him my gift, he surely would have slain them, I need not to look into the future to realize that. If you'll allow it, I will right the wrongs I made while I was in his service."

Oh…That’s a wonderful piece of lore but now that’s going to be a doozy to fit into the main story (mostly figuring out how long each Abyssal were alive before they were killed by the Guild or Lateria). Also ignore the different avatar, I did encounter this convo before in my playthrough but didn't get the chance to get screenshots :')
And HC Abyssal timeline below
Venefelis (1,000-0): The real polecat (HC that she has phantom paws cause she has Pummel in her skill list :) and Operation Kill the Witch. Of course, after being forced to stay in the timeout corner for 1,000 years, she became really existential about her own existence, her creator's absence and trying to figure out why the Abyssals were made except being overpowered cannon-fodder.
Rotramus (700 [-300 yrs.]): Considering that the Guild would be at its infancy and still aware of Venefelis' impact, it makes some sense if they started hunting down Rotramus to prevent a repeat incident. Also consider he's a twisted mirror to Nara's personality (anti-human but will possibly answer any question to anyone that finds him) and might've been a rip-the-bandage creation due to Nara's infamy with her family's downfall.
Pluvean (500 [-200 yrs.]): Yet another pacifist Abyssal that was found by Palmaya and just waited for the Guild to kill him (but I like to believe he discovered Cadium at some point and was disgusted by the humans "corrupting the waters"). Even if he's the contrast to Arqua's short temper and drive for human adoration, Pluvean is also a bit snippy about stating the obvious and being revived past his expected lifespan.
Inominox (400 [-100 yrs.]): And just when the Guild develop a false sense of security with dealing with the Abyssals, Inominox comes in with the big guns and starting picking off any weak tamers he could find (possibly making the Frozen Tundra his main hunting ground). But with Ventra's pride and cockiness spelled his downfall when the Guild intervened during one of his attacks. But whether the victim was too traumatized to recall his trigger or the information was lost to time, the Guild was back to square one when the Abyssal was revived.
Helevolk (350 [-50 yrs.]): Of course, there's not a lot to say about Helevolk besides being a more unstable version of Fona despite having a surprising amount of mental/emotional strength (mainly with him breaking through the N1 Nightmare mind-wiping to an extent), but it's a bit of a mystery on how he got his name despite being just as mindless and violent as a normal Nexomon [Hele: "to hide" + volk: "army" or "person/people"]. And I assume Lateria killed the beast by redirecting his tunnels or cornering him in the tunnels.
Caelesa (310 [-40 yrs.]): But to make matters worse for the Guild, they have to deal with another pacifist, human-avoidant Abyssal that will surely make them doubt their anti-Tyrant campaign. Of course, there's no real explanation how she was taken out or how long she evaded the Guild (and/or Lateria), but she clearly had enough time to believe that humans were dumb and violent brutes that have nothing better to do in their lives besides hunt what threatens them (though mostly directed at Finn the second he explains the Guild’s history with her). And fun fact, despite Caelesa being Normal-type (like Metta), she has a interesting set of elemental moves under her belt (also like Metta) so do with that info as you will :) [Base moves: Rocknite Blast, Thunder Blast, Plasma Star, Psy Field]
Volcel (280 [-30 yrs.]): Then after that wild-goose chase comes the giant electric moth(?), also being human-avoidant but will also mock everything and everyone below him for being simple earth-dwellers (really embodying Luxa’s superiority complex, huh?). While there isn’t any concrete evidence on how he was caught (since the Guild jumped to making a standard Tyrant bait), I’ll assume it was Lateria and their extremely heavy ordinance.
Braccus (260 [-20 yrs.]): Here comes the boy~! :D And unlike the older Abyssals (and being the second-youngest), he’s the only one that specifically mentions hearing his creator’s voice and learning his mission to attract the world’s attention by any means necessary; which he easily turns to destruction and carnage (becoming the Grunda he was meant to be) until Xanders “Bare Hands” Nexomon killed the beast and earned his Gold Tamer promotion. Also his dex entry mentions him destroying multiple cities before reaching Lateria and/or Grunda’s Chasm, so I’m betting he started his rampage at Royalle City since a “unnamed Tyrant” was the reason for its downfall.
Kroma (250 [-10 yrs.]): And finally, Operation Kill the Witch: Electric Boogaloo. And what better way to complete her life's mission is to plop her right into the Immortal Citadel while having the handy-dandy ability to mind-control ghosts. Whether she can control both human and Nexomon ghosts is up to debate, but I'm all for her being a tiny menace using the IC residents, the Greater Drake Krainnull, and Ulzar himself when the going got tough with Deena the one-woman army.
Either way, I mainly followed the Abyssals locations on Precursor Mountain from furthest left to right (apart from Venefelis being past Kroma's position), though it's extra funny that both Braccus and Kroma's places are almost melded together (with the haunted woods being halfway through the Braccus’ maze) so that's kind of where the idea came from. Either way, how in the world was I supposed to expect that these two were the YOUNGEST!?!?
And I love that this were the first thing I thought of (if anyone’s willing to make an artist’s representation of the disaster siblings, I’m all for it :)

if I haven't asked this already... ramble ask: Salem!
You did not! (Also I am waiting with Merida a bit till I feel like it,) but. Salem, I can do
(May have went a tad overboard.. 0 of this is canon)
Spoilers for N:E and N:E postgame(aka the Abyssals Update)
Salem! Aka Venefelis. Since uh, Venefelis is referred to as a He and Salem as a She, I'm just going with She for this whole rant^^
So. Salem. The girl in the woods.
She... Well, the time you play with her and the abyssal thing could be up to a year apart if not more in the time line (unless you did it at once like I did) , so...
First of all, she plays some Simon says with us, gives us a... I want to say Golden Nexotrap? Let me- Oh no, she gives you a Vault key. Vault key and there's Perfect berries nearby, figured.
She plays with us an easy game of Simon says, with how much it seems like Hilda's maze you truly have to wonder if it's because Hilda died around there, but when you're done, she gives you the vault key.
Now Salem... Is Venefelis, duh. But.
We know that at least with the Omnikids(thanks, Solus) they actually age, as shown my Solus in the orphanage, but so it's not far to assume similar for the Abyssals.
Salem was tasked with killing Hilda, and in return Blue(n1 protag) tied them to the woods(... Don't know why,) but you have to wonder. Surely she did it quickly, especially with Pluvian saying he practically did nothing and just waited, means they're made with adult Nexomon forms, so..
.... How old do you recon Salem to be? Not much, is the answer to whichever number comes to mind. Sure, she ages in the woods but, man, that's the WOODS. She couldn't exactly do much, other than obsess over the creator, we're returning here later
I'm noticing she never necessarily tried to push onto Solus the first time they came- Weather she just couldn't tell(which, isn't a non possibility) or because she actually wanted to do a game and then do so. Because she couldn't have known Solus didn't know they were, well, Solus.
You could argue she saw one of the revival beams and put two and two together, I suppose.
Then she tricks you with saying she's just a little kid and yada and- Well, she's not lying, to be fair here
Regardless, then she gives a speech and then she goes off, then, you kill everyone and then she has a meltdown.
.. Here's the thing, right. Kroma said that she cannot rest until she slays Eliza. That's telling me that they have that restlessness. When Pluvian did his task, he didn't have the motive to do much. When Braccus did, he found destruction amusing. When Salem did-
Well. She didn't have much to do. She was in the woods, kids came sometimes and they played, sure. But now she didn't have a "you need to do this" urge/voice in her head so. What was she supposed to do? Because she DID what she was needed to. And still nothing happened. So did all the rest of them, and nothing CHANGED.
She had all the time in the world to figure out SOME way that made sense to her in which she could get her master's attention back, because this was suffocating. Because kids came and went and then she was alone.
Nexomon are social creatures, so are humans, so it's not a stretch to say Abyssals are, too. And being all alone makes you desperate.
So when she figured out Kroma didn't do what she had to- Well that's SOMETHING. It's hundreds of years after she was trapped here, but it's something. Maybe this will work. It has to.
Then it doesn't. Then she just has a meltdown because these kids are stopping her from just getting her master's attention back because nothing else worked and-
Then she dies again. And I for one, don't love that. So! (Pulls out AUs)

FINALLY BEAT DOS2 and if i'm being totally honest, i'm rather disappointed with how it ended. spoilers for the endings & final battle under the cut!
the final battle sucked so FUCKING MUCH. the only reason i was able to beat it was because of some divine intervention i swear. like it was looking grim, folks. everyone died except for ifan, who was at like. 30 hp. and braccus rex was about to kill him when he suddenly died?? i'm assuming it's because of his vulnerability to fire damage, and if you've played dos2 you know that most fights end in fire or necrofire, so that's what got him. i'm just glad he kicked the bucket (AGAIN. HE EXPLODED INTO DUST IN THE FIRST DOS HOW IS HE ALIVE) but i wish there was the option to kill lucian as well. like, he sucks! he absolutely sucks! why does he get to live??
anyway. you get to choose to claim divinity or not, and you're given three choices: to return source to the people (like ifan spoke about previously), to become the new divine, or purge the world of its source to close the void.
you pick whichever one. if source returns to the people, windego pretty much curses your name for letting her stay shackled to the god king. if you become the new divine, she eagerly awaits a different godwoken just for the chance to get set free (unlikely, but one can hope, i suppose). if you purged the world of its source, you've freed windego from the clutches of the god king, and this one is seemingly the best ending because rivellon flourishes. i have mixed feelings on this one.
fade to black, you are on the lady vengeance that is somehow whole again because malady is ridiculously powerful and also suspiciously nice to you if you're the new divine. with the other options, she kind of just views you as an investment that didn't pay off. which like. rude, but fair
i somehow managed to foster romances with sebille and ifan simultaneously (didn't get there with lohse because i only added her to my party on the first leg of the journey to driftwood). sebille basically doesn't really care all that much about your choice, preoccupied by her fate as a scion. lohse also doesn't care. she just wants to get back to barding. they're both pretty neutral about it.
ifan isn't. ifan has exactly zero chill and will either give his approval (sharing source across rivellon; romantic ending, best reaction because that's what he wanted), acknowledge you as the new divine (vaguely romantic ending—he ditches you to help regrow the elven forest), or angrily call you a betrayer (purging the world of source entirely, worst ifan ending because you let lucian stay divine and alive so he wants you dead).
personally i feel like we should have gotten an ending where like. we purge rivellon of its source, kill lucian, and all seemingly goes well. but this is not an option, even though you should've killed lucian in the battle beforehand. that way, ifan won't treat you with contempt or malice, because he disapproves of choices lucian made as divine and not as much about purging source. we could truly have had it all.
#i keep hearing about how act 3 was rewritten and i'm afraid to ask but like#how bad was it before#because it sure as hell ain't great in de either#okay i did just summarize the entire ending bit of the game but like i was processing it okay#dos2#per plays#per rants#peren schmeren
