An Iranian LGBTIQ activist is facing deportation to his home country. The Human Rights Association (IHD) announced on Friday that Elyas Torabiba-Eskandari was detained last Sunday at a Pride parade in Istanbul and taken into deportation custody. After a stay of several hours at the police station in the Beyoğlu district, Torabiba-Eskandari was initially taken to the deportation centre of the Turkish migration authority in Tuzla. In the meantime, he is being held in an identical facility in the border province of Urfa. Elyas Torabiba-Eskandari fled Iran ten years ago together with his mother. According to the IHD, both were victims of state violence, arbitrary detention and torture in their home country. Since their flight in 2013, they have been living in Turkey - however, they do not enjoy full refugee protection there in the sense of the Geneva Convention, but only have so-called conditional refugee status. Nevertheless, a deportation would violate the prohibition of refoulement, i.e. that refugees may not be deported to countries where their lives are in danger. However, the IHD regularly documents deportations of refugees from Turkey to Iran, but also to Syria and Iraq, where their lives are in danger.

LGBTQ+ activists face lethal punishments in Iran. This shouldn't be allowed.

Erdoĝan, Turkey's Islamist dictator calling 'Israel a threat to all humanity' — this is the great same Erdoğan who wants to eliminate the Kurds.

This is the man who imprisoned 2,400 journalists who didn’t agree with him.

Erdoğan's army is committing genocide RIGHT NOW in Rojava. It's been going on for 5 years, completely ignored by NATO, the UN, and the EU. Why? Because he supplies drones to Ukraine. It is far worse than the situation in Gaza, and on an entirely different level.

You can’t mention the Armenian Massacre in Turkey and the part Turkey played in it — if you do, you will get arrested.

1,500,000 to 2,000,000 Armenian Christians and other non Turkish minorities murdered by the Turks. Something that Erdoğan denies in a rage. But the Armenian Genocide happened. Don’t take my word for it. Look it up! The reason Erdoğan is so brazen about it is probably because in today’s world, no one reads history.

Turkey. Part of NATO and wishing to join EU. Yet the President makes remarks like this:

Shameful. He's ruthless against anyone or any group he sees as a threat. Maybe he should stop the killings in Syria and Iraq.

Hamas has a property empire in Turkey. He should look in his own backyard..

In other words, Erdoğan is getting worried that if the Israelis destroy Hamas, they will discover just how much Turkish involvement there has been in perpetuating this nonsense.

“Israel a threat to all humanity”? No, only to Hamas and Erdoğan.
