I just want to get it out there that Elon Musk keeps saying – in words – that the Trump plan is to crash the economy. He keeps saying it, because he thinks it’s a good thing. Ordinary Americans will have to “embrace the pain.” People like him won’t have to do that, of course not!

But, you know.

You.

The little people.

Then and only then, after a big crash, will the economy be allowed to recover under what one supposes would be a new hyper-austerity regime.

From all historical experience, this “austerity” regime would really be a looter regime. It’d also be deflationary, which is great if you’re a billionaire and terrible if you’re everyone else, since most people will make less and less over time, while the billionaires will keep more and more since the rich won’t be paying any taxes, and the value of their stored wealth – their idle, uninvested, non-productive money caches – will increase all on its own.

The MAGA government would be gambling on the idea that American memory is so short that they’ll forget before the collapse.

Well, that, and…

And I give this credence because, well, one, yeah, Trump’s plans will crash the economy. But I also give it credence because of something Trump said before even running for office. He said this:

When the economy crashes, when the country goes to total hell and everything is a disaster, then you’ll have riots to go back to where we used to be when we were great. – Donald J. Trump on Fox and Friends, 2014

Because Elon’s saying that’s the plan this time. It wasn’t the plan last time maybe, but it’s the plan this time. And “go back to where we used to be” was white supremacy with women as men’s property. That’s what he wants.

Trump’s Director of Whitehouse Personnel just today called to end voting rights for women, saying that women shouldn’t vote and that the 19th Amendment “might have to go.”

I mean really, at this point in the campaign, what people generally need to be focusing on is getting out the vote. But sometimes things happen that are big enough to talk about, like the explosion of race hate coming out of the Trump rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. And that raw hatred – and their doubling down on it on Monday and Tuesday – is the most important item this week, absolutely.

But for the “fuck you I got mine” crowd amongst your friends, particularly the ones who are perfectly happy to laugh at racial hate jokes and really kinda like it since hey, it’s not their problem, well���

I would think that intentionally crashing the economy might give them something to care about.

Just maybe.

Because Elon keeps saying it, out loud. Elon, who would be in a Trump administration, who would be the one doing the broad strokes of fiscal planning, keeps saying that they will crash the economy, and that they will do it on purpose.

That might be something to tell your more racist family and friends.

Maybe – just maybe – they’ll care about that.

It's been all over social media that trump voters were finally trying to start researching the truth about trump tariffs AFTER they voted for him. Thankfully, I found this visual trump Thanksgiving tariffs explainer over on Bluesky. The red text is my edit.

Next up on Mar-a-Lago's traditional holiday entertainment schedule, the crowd favorite sing-and-dance-a-long to Vanilla Ice's retro hit: "Ice, Ice, Baby", while they all laugh about how clever they are and fantasize about engaging in ethnic cleansing of all non-white people in the U.S. with ICE and the U.S. military...

Trump Tariff: When you pay way too much for insultingly low quality & quantity. One of the problems that people aren't mainstreaming about the trump tariffs is that in order to bring the prices back down to where they were pre-tariffs, American importers are going to have to reduce product quality and quantity in direct proportion to the level of the tariff. Food items are going to be massively shrunk in quantity if the external suppliers aren't willing to devalue their brand by reducing quality. Non-food items are going to be so cheaply-made that they're going to either arrive damaged/defective, or they'll break much faster, require far more money to maintain those items in people's lives, and result in massive increases in all manner of solid waste, recycling, and microplastics environmental problems.

Elon struggles with depression. This depression was rooted because he realized he was bisexual. Little did he know, the “homophobic” trump, the president (who was his Bi awakening), was secretly a closeted trans gay man and used he/they/xe/xim/ze/hir pronouns.

Elon Musk sat alone in the dim back corner of an american bar, staring at his phone. He watched in stunned silence as Donald Trump appeared on the screen, rallying on some talk show, launching into another tirade about "traditional values." The host threw a pointed question about LGBTQ+ rights, and Trump scoffed, dismissing it with the wave of a hand.

"Let's be clear," Trump sneered, “I’m not about to get into this ‘woke’ stuff. I believe in strong, traditional men. That’s what America needs."

Elon’s chest tightened as he heard the crowd’s applause. It was another slap in the face—a public affirmation that his fascination, his admiration for Trump was hopelessly misplaced. He tossed his phone on the table and slumped over his drink, feeling like he’d been punched.

That was the worst part. He couldn’t shake the feeling, the pull, this…this weird infatuation he’d tried to deny. How could he feel anything for a man so opposed to people like him? A man who, it seemed, would never accept who Elon really was.

"Mind if I join you?"

Elon’s head jerked up. There, standing in front of him, cloaked in a shadow that made him seem both larger than life and oddly fragile, was Donald Trump himself. Elon froze, a wave of panic and confusion taking hold. Was this real? He blinked, sure he was hallucinating.

"Y-yeah," he stammered, eyes wide, voice shaking. "Sure."

Trump sat down across from him, the weight of his presence almost crushing. Elon couldn't look him in the eye, couldn't stop his hands from trembling. In a voice barely above a whisper, he mumbled, “Why… why do you say those things? About people like me?”

Trump sighed, shifting uncomfortably, glancing around before leaning in closer. "Elon… look, I—"

But Elon couldn’t hold back anymore. His voice broke, emotions spilling out uncontrollably. “Do you know how hard it is? To be… this way? To feel like this and have no one know? And then to see someone you… someone you—” He cut himself off, eyes glistening, his face flushed with shame and frustration. He didn’t finish, but he didn’t need to. The admission lingered, fragile and exposed.

The silence between them grew thick. Trump looked at Elon with an intensity that was equal parts vulnerability and longing.

“Elon,” Trump whispered, his voice barely audible. “You’re not the only one who’s afraid.”

Elon shook his head, confused, hurt. “You don’t know anything about it.”

“No, I do,” Trump replied, his voice softening. “I’ve lived it. I’ve buried it for years.” Xe took a deep breath. “Elon, I’m not who they think I am. I… I’m a closeted trans gay man.”

Elon’s head snapped up, his eyes wide with disbelief. Trump’s hand reached out, fingers brushing over Elon’s in a way that was both hesitant and electric. “I use… he/they/xe/xim/ze/hir pronouns,” ze said softly, looking away for a moment, hir eyes distant, almost haunted. “But I’ve hidden all of it because I didn’t want to be hated. I didn’t want to be… alone.”

Elon’s lip trembled, tears finally spilling over. He wasn’t alone. Not anymore. The truth, spoken aloud, felt surreal.

“Donald…” Elon choked out, his voice raw. “Why did you have to say all those things on TV? Why… all this time?”

Trump closed hir eyes, face twisted in shame. “Because I was terrified, Elon. If I let people in, if I admitted what I really am, they would tear me apart. But tonight…” Hir eyes met Elon’s, and for the first time, Elon saw past the public mask. “Tonight, I couldn’t keep it in anymore.”

They stared at each other, the weight of everything—society, expectations, fear—melting away in the quiet understanding they shared.

"Come here," Trump whispered, voice breaking, and reached for Elon. They came together, a mess of tears, whispered confessions, and the quiet promise that they no longer had to hide.

In the dim bar, they held each other, two souls who, after years of fear and denial, finally felt understood.

Elon and Trump were closer than they’d ever been, breaths mingling as their gazes locked. Every barrier they'd spent their lives building seemed to crumble between them. Elon’s hand, hesitant yet steady, reached up to touch Trump’s face, tracing the lines of years spent hiding.

“Elon,” Trump whispered, hir voice barely audible, breaking with emotion. “I don’t think I can go back to pretending.”

Elon, feeling a surge of courage he hadn’t known before, nodded, the faintest of smiles breaking through his tears. “Then don’t.”

Slowly, they leaned into each other. The world faded away as their lips met, a kiss so intense, so filled with years of secrecy, that it felt like freedom. Time ceased to exist as the two men shared that moment, lost in a vulnerability they'd never allowed themselves to show to anyone else.

But then, a gasp shattered the silence.

They pulled apart abruptly, eyes wide, to see Melania Trump standing at the entrance, framed by the dim bar lights, an unreadable expression on her face. Her gaze flicked between them, landing on Trump with a look that was almost… amused?

“Elon. Donald.” Her voice was cool, almost casual, as if she’d just stumbled upon them discussing a business deal. But there was a hint of something in her eyes—a smirk, barely there, quickly masked.

Trump stammered, stepping back. “Melania, I… I didn’t expect you here.”

She raised an eyebrow, unimpressed. “I can see that.” Her eyes lingered on Elon for a second, then softened, a look of strange understanding passing over her face. “Donald, you don’t have to explain.”

Elon’s face flushed, his mind reeling, ready to see anger, betrayal—anything, really, that would have felt like an appropriate response. But instead, Melania just sighed and gave a slight shrug.

“You know,” she said with a wry smile, “you may think I haven’t noticed all this. But I see more than you think.” She paused, casting a sidelong glance at Elon, as if to silently convey some kind of sympathy. “Besides, I didn’t vote for you anyway.”

Trump’s jaw dropped. “You… didn’t?”

“No.” She crossed her arms with a casual smile. “I voted for Kamala.”

The tension in the air broke as Trump’s face contorted in shock. Elon’s eyes darted between them, a stunned silence settling over the three. Melania simply chuckled, shaking her head as she turned to leave.

“Goodnight, boys,” she said over her shoulder with a smirk, leaving them standing there in a dazed silence, their secret moment now laid bare in the most unexpected way.

As the door clicked shut behind her, Trump let out a long, bewildered sigh. Elon looked at him, then, barely able to contain his laughter.

“Guess you’re not the only one who’s full of surprises.”

- Michigan stadium will be converted into a battle arena, every year representatives of queer minorities will gather in the arena and compete in a hunger games style tournament, the winner will be allowed to have their human rights for that year.

- The “protect free speech” act will be enacted, allowing the police to shoot anyone who says “cis” on sight.

- After the first year, Trump will sell the country to Elon Musk, who will rename it to Y

- The Costco hotdog will have its price increased to 1.69$

A lot of people are making decisions this weekend. Let’s help them make the right ones.

Locally, I’m sure a lot of people in Washington State are doing their voting this weekend, and for all of us, please vote no on all statewide initiatives. That’s no on all of them. They’re all funded pretty much entirely by a California Republican hedge-fund manager who wants to be our new Tim Eyman – even the Seattle Times called him that – and he needs to be told to fuck off right out of the gate.

I wrote up the individual reasons here, but if that’s too much to read right now, basically it’s like this:

I-2117 and I-2066 are there to ramp up climate change by burning more fossil fuels and block the state from promoting climate-neutral power solutions

I-2109 is a massive MAGA-style tax cut for the state’s wealthiest 4000 people and literally nobody else, and finally,

I-2124 is intended to torpedo the state’s long-term health care programme, and will do a great job of bankrupting families while driving them into truly shitty minimal- to zero-coverage private plans.

All very MAGA, all very horsecrap, all very PLEASE VOTE NO.

In the presidential race, I still think the story of Elon Musk – Trump’s to-be director of fiscal policy – stating outright that Trump’s plans will tank the economy has been woefully, piteously under-covered by the press.

If you know anyone who has ever said they were voting Republican ‘for their wallets,’ please, please, please, show them this. Show them the original sources, show them Musk’s own words.

Because Elon’s right – Trump’s plans will tank the economy. That’s what he wants to do, destroy it, and then build it back up I’m pretty sure as a quasi-gold-standard-but-probably-crypto-based system, deflationary, and utterly ripe for the looting. People like him will profit insanely, just like they did in post-Soviet Russia, while the ordinary people – you, me, people who don’t matter in his world – will have to, in his words, “embrace the pain.”

Tell them that’s what their vote is going to bring to their wallets this year if they vote for another term of Trump. Pain.

If they don’t care about the lives of LGBT people, if they’re racist dickbags who kinda want Trump’s mass ethnic purge, if they’re hungering to put women back in our “place” and let are willing to let the whole world literally burn by reversing every bit of climate progress we’ve made and dumping as much more carbon pollution as possible into the air all for a fucking tax cut they won’t even get…

…ask them if they also want to take it in the shorts, in the form of taking it in the wallet, as a reward.

Because they will. And not just in tariff-driven compound inflation, either.

Again, Trumps’ biggest allies – in particular Elon Musk – say his plan will absolutely tank the economy. Everyone but the ultra-rich will suffer, and all of us will just have to “embrace the pain.”

That’s what they want. Elon’s just plain saying it.

Make sure they goddamn well know.

This is my prediction for the 2024 presidential race.

I think that Pennsylvania will be THEE deciding state. It’s why we’ve seen increasing efforts among Republicans to sow doubt about the results in Pennsylvania, should Harris win the state. It’s also what Musk concentrated his “I’m pay you to vote for Trump” efforts in Pennsylvania. Below is my prediction, which is that Pennsylvania will lean Republican, but if Harris manages in Pennsylvania, that will get her to 276, just over the 270 threshold:

And while my prediction is that Harris will just eke by in Nevada, I also believe that a could be outcome is Harris losing every swing state outside of the “rust belt” (with the exception of Pennsylvania). I do believe she’ll lose the whole of the South in every iteration of this map. This is in line with most elections analyses:

My prediction—that Harris ekes by in Nevada— is not in line with most predictions, as most pollsters and elections analysts have her losing Nevada in addition to every other swing state except Wisconsin.

Note: I do not sort Michigan in with the “swing states. I feel like calling Michigan “swing-y” for 2016 would be like calling Indiana “swing-y” for 2008. Some theorize that Pennsylvania’s results in 2016 may have similarly been an upset/fluke given the state’s history, but I think that undercounts Republican’s campaigning efforts in the state and just how much money they have poured into those efforts to flip Pennsylvania once again.

I also predict Harris will eke by in Nevada because the last time the Republican nominee carried Nevada was 20+ years ago. Harris losing Nevada, as most elections analysts are predicting, would actually be quite the upset. The last time Nevada was reliably Republican, so too was California (aka: the 1970-1980s elections cycles).
