When you become an activist, you make history
November 25, 2024
I was listening to KPFA radio on the drive home from work in Stockton this evening and heard Delores Huerta talking on a show called Flash Points. Huerta was a co-founder of the United Farm workers along with Ceasar Chavez.
When asked what her message was to young people in these troubled times about how to get involved, she said the following “When Ceasar Chavez talked with students, he wad say that in school, you talk about history, you read about history and you write about history. But, when you become an activist, you make history. The times we are living in now are history making moments. She talked about forming human chains around immigrants so that they cannot be forcibly put in camps to be deported after Trump is sworn in as a  possible example of activism that may be required in the coming days.
To hear the entire interview with Delores Huerta, go to the KPFA web site. Then go to archives. Type in Flash Points in the search bar, and then November in the month search bar that comes up for the November 25, 2024 show.

What is Project 2025?
The Project 2025 Presidential Transition Project is a well-funded (eight-figure) effort of the Heritage Foundation and more than 100 organizations to enable a future anti-democratic presidential administration to take swift, far-right action that would cut wages for working people, dismantle social safety net programs, reverse decades of progress for civil rights, redefine the way our society operates, and undermine our economy.
A central pillar of Project 2025 is the “Mandate for Leadership,” a 900+ page policy playbook authored by former Trump administration officials and other extremists that provides a radical vision for our nation and a roadmap to implement it.
Project 2025 Snapshot
Proposals from Project 2025, discussed in detail throughout this guide, that they claim could be implemented through executive branch action alone — so without new legislation — include:
Cut overtime protections for 4.3 million workers
Stop efforts to lower prescription drug prices
Limit access to food assistance, which an average of more than 40 million people in 21.6 million households rely on monthly
Eliminate the Head Start early education program, which serves over 1 million children annually
Cut American Rescue Plan (ARP) programs that have created or saved 220,000 jobs
Restrict access to medication abortion
Push more of the 33 million people enrolled in Medicare towards Medicare Advantage and other worse, private options
Expose the 368,000 children in foster care to risk of increased discrimination
Deny students in 25 states and Washington, D.C. access to student loans because their state provides in-state tuition to undocumented immigrants
Roll back civil rights protections across multiple fronts, including cutting diversity, equity, and inclusion-related (DEI) programs and LGBTQ+ rights in health care, education, and workplaces

Liberals will be like "Viva la revolution! Guillotines! Eat the rich! Firebomb a Walmart! It's our duty to fight back and change the world!!" and then ghost you the moment you mention it's maybe important to talk about how they need to actually vote or else Republicans will turn America into a Christofacist dictatorship and take away everyone's rights.

How Project 2025 and the re-election of Donald Trump in the USA could negatively affect LGBTQIA+ rights
The above article explains my point a lot better than I ever could, but I am begging all of you on this site, particularly those of you who are living in the USA or have the right to vote there, to please consider the above. I don't normally share my political beliefs, but Trump has already stated that he wants to reverse a lot of the rights that the LGBTQIA+ community currently has in the US, which are largely delineated in Project 25. Within this law and some of his policies, Trump has made it clear that he would ban gender-affirming care for minors and he also intends to limit queer discrimination protections in the workplace. Moreover, the project would reinstate a transgender military ban and it would rescind health care protection for trans people, thus urging the Congress to define gender as male and female, which would solely be fixed at birth. Overall, his policies would stop any and all acknowledgement and acceptance of gender identity and of members of the LGBTQIA+ community in general. Please feel free to not take this at face value and to instead do your own research; the best way to combat Trump and the lack of democracy that he is encouraging is to conduct research and to fight misinformation. Sorry to reiterate this, but I beg all of you to please bear Project 25 in mind when voting in the 2024 presidential election, for those of you that live in the United States.

Words as drone
August 8, 2001 journal entry.
“Our culture likes to slap labels on things to get rid of it. Words as narcotic white noise. Words as drone.”
End of entry
 Note: 11/8/2024
The above quote from my 2001 journal fits perfectly with this post Trump election win we now find ourselves in.
We are in the new era of a brewing Trump dictatorship whose playbook will be Project 25.
What I am hearing from others post election results is “Trump will get rid of the immigrants” and “We survived one Trump administration. His second term won’t be that bad”. This is white noise. This is words as drone.  This is slapping a label on to get rid  of the fact that we are now entering a  possible Trump dictatorship. Meaning, there may be no more Presidential elections.  And, that Project 25 is aimed at rolling back many safe guards and rights that we now enjoy.
So, beyond the haze of words lies a potential totalitarian American landscape.
I’m also hearing that maybe a solution is a three or more party system. I believe that countries in Europe and also India have multi party systems. We need an independent party of the people that represents the individual and is not beholden to corporate donors.
End of entry
Note: totalitarian: a system of government that is centralized and dictatorial and requires complete subservience to the state. ( per Oxford dictionary0

I just had to block someone in my DM’s, so let me be very clear:
If you couldn’t be bothered to vote against Donald Trump, or if you actually voted for him, I do not care about you anymore. You made your choice. I’m standing with the people who knew they would be hurt and desperately tried to make people understand how bad things are going to get now that he has control of all three branches of the government.
I don’t care about you anymore. Sorry. You killed that when you couldn’t be bothered to listen to the people who tried to tell you what the stakes were in this election.
The fact that it’s now dawning on you too late that you fucked up and Project 2025 is just as bad as I and other people told you is no longer my problem. And if that makes me callous towards the people like you who were warned and ignored every warning, so be it.
There’s the bed you made. Time to lie in it.

Not to mention how the age debate is redundant to begin with.
Biden is three years older than Trump. Three.
And that argument was already there when they candidated against each other last time. You can't bring that argument again and expect me to believe that Trump isn't at least just as senile.
If you have any comprehension skills whatsoever, you'll notice that what Trump says is factually at the very least questionable, populistic, manipulative and in any case completely strayed from the topic. He has three arguments and ponders around on them without getting anywhere, completely ignoring questions and ending it all with 'people love me'.
Biden at least has substance. He at least answers the questions with concrete plans. He at least knows what he's talking about. He's at least not straight up lying or making things up as he goes. If you follow political events, you get the basics of what he's referring to.
Trump lives in a whole other dimension where somehow "the people from other countries" steal the jobs of "blacks and hispanics."
You don't have to like him. But unless you want to be in a dictatorship under Project 2025, vote blue.
And if you want to argue that Biden is old, at least be fair.
You know ever, since I started working with two stutterers, I've grown a lot less tolerable of the "Biden is on a mental decline because he's stuttering" crowd.
"He's putting in weird pauses" that's a stutter" "He's switching words" that's also the stutter" "He's doing a bunch of filler words" that's a stutter too "he's declining" I could literally look up a video of him in 2013 of him doing all this. He's doing it more thanks to his age, yes, but that's not inherently a sign of cognitive decline.
Hollywood has really screwed over people who stutter by giving them this blatantly false representation of them as stupid or scared or just plain not showing how it w-w-w-w-works (yes, that's a form of stutter, but it's not the only form a stutter can take). A stutter is not a sign of weakness or stupidity and even if you don't give a shit about Biden you should realize how that's rebounding onto every person that stutters.
