Save The Last Dance For Me 🎶
I recently started using Procreate and I've been practicing new brushes to get familiar with it. So I tried drawing KOBD dancing as practice. And I think today is the perfect day to share this. Happy Valentine's Day to you all!

the best (and worst) part about writing transformers fanfic is when you're writing something that includes canonically named characters that have no other given information. trying to flesh out the disappeared cybertronians on the necroworld is so strange bc they're all technically their own named characters but for most of them there is like. no information for them.
Tumblr media
all of these names and there's NOTHING to base them off of. it's an empty sandbox to do whatever the hell i want with it (aka giving ravage a tiny army that he brings to sanctuary <3)
edit: my favorite part of the notes in this post are people replying with the names they like, btw. i think everyone should tell me what names they like the most

Similarities between Transformers One and the Aligned Continuity (aka Transformers: Prime)
Watching the trailers and reading the interviews made me realize that there are many similarities between TF One and the Aligned Continuity. As a reminder (or for those who don't know)- the Aligned Continuity consisted of the War for Cybertron games, Transformers: Prime, Robots in Disguise, Rescue Bots, etc.
Transformers: Prime got me into the fandom, so it's interesting to see a multi-million-dollar movie use elements from the continuity it is a part of.
Here is a list of similarities I have found so far.
Note: I'll also be mentioning IDW1 briefly since the Aligned continuity and IDW1 comics have similar concepts and have constantly exchanged ideas with each other.
Megatron's name: D-16
In TF One, D-16 will become Megatron. D-16 is a name directly taken from the Aligned Continuity and has been solely associated with it until now. Even though Prime Megatron and IDW1 Megatron have very similar backstories—both being miners and then revolutionaries—only Aligned Megatron was also known as D-16.
Tumblr media
Caste system/Social Inequality (hinted)
In both the Aligned and IDW1 continuities, pre-war Cybertronian society had a rigid caste system where one's role in society, thus their life, was determined by their alternate mode (Functionism in IDW1). In Aligned, Orion Pax's desire to learn more about this system, specifically the corruption and inequality it created, leads him to find Megatron (as described in Exodus and TF: Prime). The two become friends who desire change for their society. The interviews with Josh Cooley (the director) hint that something similar exists on Cybertron and is the main cause of their fallout.

The thing that starts the wedge between him [D-16] and Orion Pax is that the world is not what they thought it was, and they then start to form two different views on how to solve the problem.
 (Entertainment, Comic-Con 2024 Issue)
In addition, someone on Twitter -who saw an early screening-said that the movie was "very in-line with IDW's ideas for how the war started," so it's safe to say it draws heavily from Aligned/IDW.
Extra note: Another interview with Cooley revealed that in an early version of the film, Megatron was supposed to be a gladiator. He and Orion Pax were also supposed to have "very different backgrounds" - which sounds very similar to the data clerk and gladiator origins of the Aligned continuity.
Unfortunately, the limited runtime meant Cooley had to limit how much of the characters' origins to show on screen, including changing part of Megatron's accepted story. "If we had all the time in the world, it would've been fun to show Megatron as a gladiator and have the two characters come from very different backgrounds," Cooley added. "We actually had a gladiator scene that alluded to this origin that was cut out." Instead, Orion and D-16 are reimagined as bunkmates working as miners to bring Energon back to the planet after a years-long drought.
(IndieWire)
Cooley also mentioned being given a "bible" of the franchise's entire lore, which reminds me of the Binder of Revelation Hasbro made, or the source material for the Aligned Continuity...
The 13 Primes
The 13 Primes will appear in the movie (you can spot them in both trailers). The idea of the 13 Primes isn't new, but this particular group version is heavily inspired by the Aligned Continuity. In Aligned, Alpha Trion is canonically one of the 13 Primes (aka the Covenant Primes, who also include Prima, Solus, and Megatronus). He wasn't considered a Prime in other stories before TF: Prime. The Covenant Primes also appear in Cyberverse and Earthspark, and TF One continues the trend.
Below (in order):
Onyx Prime design from the Covenant of Primus
A mysterious statue (being?) from the trailer that looks very much like the Aligned Onyx Prime
Mysterious beings (Primes?) behind Optimus
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Airachnid
The design for Airachnid in TF One is very similar to the design in TF: Prime. Both have the "arms" on their backs and similar head shapes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vehicons
Some Cybertronians look like the Vehicons. Looks like we're getting multiple Steves….
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Extra: Brian Tyler
Not directly related to the story, but the composer for Transformers: Prime (aka the genius who made the ionic Prime theme) is back and composing the music for the movie. If I hear the Prime theme in the movie theater, I might start screaming. 😂
Tumblr media
I think it's so cool to see how much influence one continuity can have on the franchise, so much so that its elements are used in a movie that'll soon be seen by millions of people and future generations.

I finished the first season of Arcane. It's impressive, so artistic and strong in narrative telling. Every character has a marked personality conveyed through their every feature including their looks and body language. Highest pinnacle aesthetics, the scenery is captivating.
That being said, every transformers fan that watches it, perhaps, can't but notice the striking parallels with the Aligned and Idw1 lore. Actually... the background plot is quite the same.
The major problematic arises because there's a dramatic split of social hierarchy.
In Transformers, it exists the caste system and functionism. In Arcane, society is divided in high and low classes as well. Low castes are heavy work labourers, such as miners, gladiators, etc. They are rude, often violent, and outcasts. They suffer scarcities and unjustice from a government who despises them or is oblivious to their strife. The same for low classes in Arcane. (Save for existing gladiators)
High and mid castes are government, scientists, military, artists, not brute workers such as archivists. The same for Arcane.(save for archivists)
The different castes/classes are split in separate places. Low castes/classes are not allowed into the wealthy cities.
The low castes in Transformers and low classes in Arcane live in cities polluted by the vapors of factories and such, or that seem darkened somehow. The sick, the addicted and the mentally ill are common. Crime is not in short supply. Criminals are exiled or seek shelter there because there their activities are unnoticed.
Tumblr media
Kaon (Transformers)
Tumblr media
Zaun (Arcane)
Tumblr media
Iacon (Transformers)
Tumblr media
Piltover (Arcane)
The ruling entity is conformed by an association of a number of characters called the Council in both cases. (In Transformers there's also a Prime, which has no analog in Arcane)
Tumblr media
The High Council and the Hall of justice. (Transformers)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Council and their Tower. (Arcane)
There are also enforcers.
The antagonist is a menacing character, witty, terrifying and sexy arrogant as hell who has no qualms on use whatever means to get his way. They come from mines, they want freedom and autonomy to their kind but also crave power and know no boundaries. They value loyalty in a high degree and demand it, –the consequences of betrayal are dire. They endorse violence as way of change and are cruel and remorseless. They both have deep streaks of scars on their faces creasing their lips and share a liking for purple, dubious substances.
Tumblr media
Megatron and Dark energon
Tumblr media
Silco and the shimmer.
Also, they used to have an ally whom they referred to as brother, but who parted ways with them because of the virulent and dangerous, radical tendencies of the turned antagonist. These ally is/was noble, strong but kind and knows/learned that violence should be the last resort.
They both have as well subordinates that would follow them through hell because they, among other reasons, see in them that which any other. And these subordinates are feared and their own way of creepy.
Tumblr media
Frag, it's Soundwave!
Tumblr media
Oh, no, it's Jinx...!
Tumblr media
And Sevika
Overal, the running story and focus is obviously very different, with various elements of their own, but honestly, the background plot and various parallels sometimes caused the fleeting feeling that I was watching a prewar tfp human steampunk version. Don't take me wrong, I loved Arcane and am very interested in the next season.

I am deprived of reaction fics omg I NEED MOAR
but honestly i kinda need one where IDW bots just react to Cyberverse, CAUSE THE AMOUNT OF DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THOSE 2 UNIVERSES OPMG ITS INSANE
This shit has been in my head for an ungodly amount of time its just been a month but im just being dramatic
its just that they're so different from each other idw just gets baffled from it, like wdym the other universe' war has been going for more than 66+ million years??? and the whole Ark crew slept through it?? Hotrod and Bumblebee being the most inseparable best friends ever and are menaces to society?? Bumblebee lost both his memories and voice by the hands of megatron?!?! Optimus was a data clerk and not a cop?? DRIFT TRIED TO STOP TEAM HOTROD FROM REACHING THE WELL OF THE ALLSPARKS BY TRYING TO KILL THEM AND PARTIALLY SUCCEDED?!??!?well not really, hotrod killed him and himself by dragging him in the toxic energon puddle thing i forgot what was called
i can feel the deep jealousy Rodimus would have on Hotrod's much better relationship with Optimus cause he's actually getting trained and prepared to be a good leader and wasn't instantly thrown into the leader position, but then again i feel he would just brush it off, knowing his other self got a better mentor
BUT then again also, Hotrod would just laugh and then do the most outrageous shit ever with bumblebee, like that one time when they joined various gangs of sharkticons when they went Space surfing and passed out cold, Rodimus' jaw just dropping at the amount of freedom they have to goof around more than him
it like doesnt even have to be a reaction fic, i just need both universes to meet
cause holy goodness gracious i love these both sm

But I look so much more handsome now!
Blurr/Swerve
1.4k words
Gen fic. No smut here. Just some stupid stuff based off of the canon information that Swerve keeps this stupid ass photo of Blurr on his person XD
Tumblr media
"Swerve, what is this?"
Blurr was looking at his own face. That wasn't unusual, Blurr did that every day when he looked in the mirror. No, this instance of his face was captured on a datapad, grainy and cracked like Swerve had been carrying it through the war. Given the blocky squares of his helm in the photo, he probably had. He hadn't seen his face looking like that in ages.
"Um..." Swerve had that nervous look on his face that he always did when Blurr found some remnant of his fanboy days. It was an awkward expression, like Swerve wanted to crawl into a hole and die, but Blurr found it oddly cute. It was like looking at a turbohound who'd ripped up the carpet. "Well that's just... I mean- It's- I just- You weren't supposed to-"
"Swerve." Blurr set down the datapad, his own face stared back up at him. It was weird, not the photo itself, Blurr knew exactly how many pictures Swerve had saved of him, but the act of looking at what he used to look like was just an overall disconcerting experience. He never liked looking back, always racing forward. "Calm down."
Swerve's chassis rattled. "Right, um. It's..." His faceplate turned several shades bluer. "Iusedtokeepthatinmysubspaceduringthewar." He stammered out, looking anywhere but at Blurr. There were a few moments of quiet. "You weren't supposed to see that." Swerve muttered, sounding utterly miserable.
"Why is it so bad?" Blurr looked back down at the photo. He wasn't going to call his old frame ugly, but it certainly wasn't up to the standards of his current form, at least in his qualified opinion.
"Bad?!" Swerve looked agast. "That's you!"
"Yes, and I think it looks bad." Blurr sighed. "I certainly don't look as fabulous as I do nowadays."
Swerve gaped, mouth open and for once in his life, looking completely unsure of what to say. "Bad?!" He repeated again. "You're saying it looks bad."
"Well." Blurr sniffed. "There are certainly better photos of me."
"You're insane." Swerve stared. "You think you look bad?!"
"I don't know much more clear I can get Swerve." Blurr picked up the datapad, tapping on the photo. "Surely we can just get rid of this one and you can take a new one to look at when I'm not around."
"NO!" Swerve yelped like Blurr had suggested they execute someone. "DON'T!" He leaned forward, arm outstretched for the datapad.
Blurr swung his arm upwards and Swerve toppled face first into his chassis. The minibot looked up at him and Blurr felt himself overcome with the urge to kiss him. It wasn't his fault, Swerve's utter desperation had a unique kind of attraction to it and he made such cute little squeaks when they smooched too! There was a muffled groan as Swerve's hand made continued attempts at grabbing the datapad, now far out of reach even with Blurr kneeling to be more at hie height.
"What was that?" He asked, half heartedly patting the little roof that sheltered Swerve's helm.
"Don't delete it." Swerve uncovered his face and oh... Swerve's visor was overflowing, and he sniffled as Blurr looked down in concern.
"Swerve. It's just a photo." Blurr said gently. "And you have the real thing right in front of you."
"I-I-" Swerve sniffled again, hand still flailing for the datapad. "But I like it, and I don't want you to delete it!"
Blurr sighed. When they'd first started dating, Swerve had shyly shown Blurr his rather sizeable collection of posters, merchandise, and other such paraphernalia all plastered with his own face. It had been just a little creepy and Blurr had almost considered dumping him right there on the spot.
He'd dealt with his fair share of crazy fans, but Swerve had something that most didn't; an ounce of self awareness. He'd seemed to realise that Blurr maybe found his collection just a tad bit strange and immediately backtracked.
They'd had a long and rather boring conversation about healthy boundaries after that. Swerve had assured Blurr that he wasn't just dating him because he was a former star, and he especially wasn't dating him just because of a silly fan crush. Blurr still avoided the part of their house that held all that merchandise, but he wasn't as off put by it anymore. And though he would never admit it, Blurr enjoyed the boost to his ego whenever Swerve would ramble on and on about some random race that he could barely remember.
"Again." He pointed out. "You've got the real thing right in front of you."
"But I liked your old frame!" Swerve had now clambered up so he was sitting in Blurr's lap, arms and legs wrapped around Blurr's waist and torso respectively, like those silly Earth animals that were called bears, but weren't actually bears.
Blurr wrinkled his olfactory. "But it's so outdated." Speed was all the rage nowadays. The Velocitronians who moved to Cybertron had brought much of their racing culture with them and Blurr had finally allowed Knockout to trim down some of his armour. It wasn't much, but the lack of inbuilt weapons was a nice change of pace. "And I looked so blocky."
"Nooooo~ You looked so handsome!" Swerve fiddled with the seams on Blurr's chestplate, stubby fingers poking at wires. It didn't feel like much of anything but Blurr thought it sweet nonetheless.
"As opposed to right now?"
"You know that's not what I meant."
"Why this one? I know you've got more saved somewhere." Swerve blushed again and this time Blurr could feel the woosh of hot air as it was expelled from Swerve's systems.
"It's the first one I ever took of you."
Blurr couldn't help it, he laughed.
"Don't laugh!" Swerve moaned in despair. "It's not funny!"
Blurr laughed harder. "It is just a little bit funny." He patted Swerve's kibble again. "And it's cute how attached you are."
"I'm not cute." Swerve pouted, which just made him cuter.
"You are." Blurr smirked.
"You're so mean." Swerve huffed dramatically. "Can't believe Blurr, hero of the people is an asshole who teases and bullies his partner."
"Uh huh. C'mhere you." Blurr set the datapad down, shifting his arms so he could pull Swerve up and smooch him stupid. The minibot let out one of those adorable squeaks as soon as Blurr started to press his lips all over his visor.
"Assault!" Swerve cried, half laughing as Blurr continued to pepper affection across his face. "You're smudging my visor! This is cruel and unusual punishment!!!"
"I'm very cruel." Blurr got to his pedes, feeling just a little smug when Swerve clung to his shoulder pauldrons. He got why Roadbuster liked carrying around his teammates now, it was very nice to just hold Swerve in his arms. He stooped and grabbed the datapad from the floor. "Now to just delete this-"
Swerve's hand shot out and snatched the datapad. Blurr barely had time to react before it vanished into Swerve's subspace and was permanently locked out of his reach. "It's mine." Swerve grinned, triumphant and looking all too pleased with himself. "And I'm keeping it forever!"
Blurr sighed. "Fine, suit yourself, but I still don't understand why you'd want to."
"For the memories!" Swerve leaned up and pecked Blurr's cheek. "It's nice to remember what you looked like before you got all streamlined."
"I was streamlined back then." Blurr countered, walking towards their room.
"Ugh, but not like you are now. You're all sharp edges and smooth plating, You were very handsome all blocky and stuff."
"Aw I'm glad you think so~" Blurr leaned down and kissed Swerve again.
"I've always thought you were handsome." Swerve grinned when Blurr pulled back. "And I'll keep saying it until you believe it."
"I never said I didn't believe it. I'm just more beautiful now than I was then."
"If you say so." Swerve grinned mischievously. "But I think your current blue is a little tacky, don't you?"
"Tacky?" Blurr clicked his glossa. "That's not what you were telling me the other day."
"I've changed my mind." Swerve snickered. "You're horribly tacky, too much teal." He leaned forward so his visor was level with Blurr's optics. He could see all the tiny mechanisms inside of Swerve's optical suite, the dials and gears and little sensors that all spun into motion as Blurr kept looking further. Sometimes he thought he could see inside of Swerve's helm, get a look at his brain module through the gaps, but it was just a trick of the light. "Blurr?" Swerve asked, vents hitching as Blurr leaned forward.
"You're so stupid." Blurr sighed, connecting their lips even as Swerve let out a retort. It was nice, not quite chaste but not heated in any way. "I love you."
When he finally pulled back, Swerve looked stunned. "I love you too." He giggled. "And I take it back, you're not tacky."

Thinking about how the mtmte/ll fandom tends to portray rodimus as a manchild and/or a himbo to such an exaggerated degree that he's unrecognizable in the way that it loses that his story is that of someone who's painfully flawed and coping in life post war and has made really terrible mistakes and tries so hard to make up for it and the refusal to acknowledge and incorporate these aspects into your fan creations hurts what he's supposed to be and makes him static. He was homeless, he was an insurgent, he joined the autobots, he lost friends because of it, they died right in front of him, he's lost people under his command, he's reckless, he's arrogant, he's caring, he prefers to work alone as to not drag anyone down with him, he puts his life on the line to help people, he continues to make mistakes, he hides them, he owns it, tries to be better, he falls back into the worst of himself when he's essentially told it doesn't matter, he inspires people around him, and he stands by them despite their flaws and welcomes them to his crew. There's just so many things about him that aren't explored that I wish would be, especially when you bring in conversations from panels at TFCon.

listen.
i'm aware the earliest example of where blaster stands when it comes to functionism is hinted at/shown in all hail megatron where he talks about how perceptor defiled himself to become a sniper.
however.
despite the autocracy trilogy being a huge mess, the blaster they introduced is my most favorite characterization in the continuity and to me it makes sense. blaster as a reporter who tries to bypass censorship, is at conflict with authority such as enforcers like orion pax, because while he may have stormed the senate and publicly called them out, he went right back to working for them under zeta, which blaster called out, and continues to question the newest iteration of a violent, flawed government interests me. he's not blind to the flaws of the institution and it's put him at odds with it. hell, it seems heavily implied he's even critical of functionism despite the writers failing to properly write the early days of the war and the motives of each faction.
basically, i wish blaster had his anti-autobot characterization from autocracy and circumstances forced him to join the autobots
