SHFJSHFKSHDJSAAAHHH SHES SO COOL!! her and maglor sound so cute together ❤️ Since she spent so long as a horse, does she have any horse characteristics as an elf? does she sail? does she reunite with the elflings she saved, her daughter? ahhHHH honestly anything you tell me about her is enough
@bblues-ocs
Omg, hiiiiii
You are giving me an excuse to talk about my girl and that is very kind of you and you bet I will take it-
First of all, new art I've been meaning to post anyways
And the rest got pretty long, so I am putting it under the cut
So, the biggest thing about Menelastë Andaraimë is that she is, well, kind of a coward. But that doesn't really become relevant until a bit later
She was born into a family of pretty prominent feanorian supporters, but she was never really big on politics herself. What she was good at, is horses. Breeding them, taking care if them, riding, ofc. Which, not necessarily what one would consider glamorous enough for a kid with her background, but that's where her heart always laid, and for the whole "family legacy" schtick, she has two older (and two younger, if need be) siblings (I got thoughts on each of them, but if I am going there, this is gonna take a while, so here is just a lil bunch of lil sketches of them-)
(Which, honestly, kinda funny that she end's up as Noldor's most famous musician's wife somehow, truly, but that is also it's own story, I think)
So, she doesn't consider herself smart enough for politics, prefers her horses' company most days, and just kinda chills. And then the darkening happens. And well, nearly everyone she cares about is going and bet they gonna need someone who knows horses on the other shore and staying is about as scary as going anyways, now that they know that Valinor isn't completely safe, so she goes too.
And then the first kinslaying happens. And she had been teaching herself sword, they all were, but this is terrifying and she is not the type for heavy armor so she just. Finds an alley and prays to Varda no one finds her. And so they don't. Not until it's all over.
(Her older brother, Failareth, is the type for heavy armor. That's why he drown in the harbor when some poor Teler pushes him of the pierce)
Once they reach Beleriand, she does as she always did. When the ships burn, she makes sure none of the animals panic when they see fire. When they get into skirmishes, she tries to get out of the fray instead of charging ahead. When the major battle approaches, she hides away in the chaos if it, turning into a horse herself - trick she learned back in Valinor. It is way easier to stay alive when you are just a horse.
She stands by her husband, of course. She is the oldest woman of the First House if the Noldor now, so she does what is needed of her. For a while, in Mithrim, she is Queen, and she tries to be convincing and generous and cultivates the appropriate dignity. It's hard - she isn't charming by nature and she prefers the stables still, but she tries. In the end, she is much better at observing than she is at talking. She is much relieved when the scrutiny shifts away from her again.
She is happy in the marches, tho. Maglors gap is mostly held by cavalry, her contribution is important. She helps with things like supplies. She trains the horses. She scouts, occasionally, or delivers correspondence. She fits there, for a while.
She's still a coward. She gets used to small scale fights, finds rhythm in those, but never masters any sort of exceptional skill in it. It is not a bad thing, she thinks. Less blood on her hands makes her a better healer.
She leads the first wave of evacuations during Bragolath. That's the most useful thing she can do anyways.
In the eve of the fifth battle, she does little else, but hope and prays for bravery. She still flees first chance she gets.
She sheds tears for all they lost after - they all do. She births a child - a daughter - a few years later. To give herself a future to fight for, maybe. To keep her hope and her faith from burning out completely. Or, perhaps, just cause there is just no point in waiting for better times anymore.
(Daughter in question)
She trusts her husband and brothers-in-law when they claim the attack on Menegroth to be inevitable, even when she doesn't quite recognise them anymore, even when they start scaring her. Her older sister is full of righteous fury - Sindar never had the right to keep the stone anyways. Menelastë agrees - she knows her people's laws, she knows they tried negotiations first, she knows the Oath will leave them with no other choice.
Her daughter is still a child. She is one of maybe a dozen they still have around. There is no place for them in a fight such as this, and, chances are, once they take step on this road, there will be no place they would be able to evacuate those kids to. The darkness keeps spreading and she can't count on still having allies after they take up swords against the Sindar.
So, once the course is set, she steals the children, her own included. She takes them to Cirdan - they won't be the first Noldor kids left in his people's care. By then, the second kinslaying happens already and news spread. She herself doesn't enter the city.
She doesn't go back to her own people either. Not after going behind everyone's backs on this. Not after running away from the battle again, in a way that cannot be denied now. She is not ashamed of doing what she had to, but she can't fave the consequences of her cowardice.
She turns into a horse. Noone will recognise her this way.
And then she stays a horse for a long time. If she ever rejoins civilization in her true form, she sticks to places noone would know her face - Eru bless men for their short memories. She rarely stays for long anyways. If she needs supplies, she stumbles into traveler's paths as a horse, then takes what she needs while everyone sleeps. She gets her news by listening to their conversations. She sells her noldorin jewelry to dwarves and men. She puts in low value coins into people's bags sometimes. It's less when what she takes is worth, more often than not, but it's better than nothing and it makes her feel a little better about herself.
And that's how she lives for a very long time. Till, one day all the way in the Third Age she stumbles upon an adventuring party and things start to change their course...

Molissë (Moleth) Netiliën, wife of Curufinwë (Curufin) Atarinkë, mother of Tyelperinquar (Celebrimbor) Curufinwë. Silversmith and Ñoldorin exile.
(Lore + close-up under the cut)
Molissë was born around Y.T.1300 a few hours outside of Tirion in a rural community, born to Ñoldorin parents of a lesser tribe, her grandmother was unbegotten and a distant relative of Nerdanel's mother. Her father was a blacksmith, and a pillar of their community, her mother was a baker. From a young age, Molissë was expected to join her mother in the bakery like her older sisters, but it was soon apparent she had much more interest in joining her father in the forge instead.
In Tirion it was not unheard off of women taking up "manly" crafts such as forging, building and sculpting, but in the islated community such things were much rarer. It soom became clear that Molissë had a great talent in the smithy, especially when working with silver ore. Her father's shop focused much more on practical means, such as tools, construction material and horseshoes, but Molissë soon grew interested in the forging of trinkets and jewelry and other decorative items.
When she was nearly fully grown, she left her family behind to seek apprenticeship in Tirion upon hearing rumors that the High Prince Fëanáro had opened up a spot in his workshop. This was a very rare opportunity, as the Prince rarely took on apprentices. (Nerdanel had insisted he take at least one if he were going to be teaching their fifth son himself, so that he may not miss out on socializing because he didn't go to a traditional school.)
During the trials, Molissë failed to make what she had invisioned and had kicked over a bucket of water before storming outside and crying tears of anger. Seeing her passion, Fëanáro decided to take her on and work with her, for she seemed so much like his own son. He had been right, for Curufinwë and Molissë got along swimmingly and soon became close friends. Rather than staying in the guest house, Molissë soon joined the Fëanorian houshold, dining with them, looking after the twins and helping out in and around the house. It wasn't long before she and Curufinwë had fallen in love.
They wed soon after Curufinwë had reached majority age, but rather than moving out of the parental household, Nerdanel and Fëanáro converted the guest house into a home for the newlyweds, so that they may continue using the forge unhindered. Not three years later they welcomed a son of their own, whom she would name Tyelperinquar and by her husband he became the third and last Curufinwë. Parenthood had come easy to Fëanáro and Nerdanel when they were still young, so Molissë and Curufinwë had expected the same to be true for them, but they had been mistaken.
Motherhood had been hard for Molissë, not being able to give up her passions to care for a baby, she often grew frustrated to the point of tears, becoming quick to anger and unpleasant to be around. Curufinwë didn't fare much better, though they both loved their son intensely. So for the first years of his life, Tyelpë was mainly cared for by his grandparents. Fëanáro and Nerdanel doted on their grandson and rejoiced at getting the opportunity to care for the baby. They knew Curufinwë and Molissë would not ever have a second child.
Because of the short separation from his parents in his formative years, Tyelpë was not very close to his parents at first, but when he grew interested in smithing, the rift was swiftly healed, for this was something they could do, and do well.
Her favourite brother in law had ever been Caranthir, she enjoyed his quiet nature and they shared a love for chess, and like her, Caranthir favoured silver over gold. They often had hot-headed arguments though, because they shared a similar temper. She also enjoyed the company of Maitimo and Tyelkormo, but found Makalaurë's constant signing a great annoyance. She found it hard to get along with the twins until they had grown up.
Molissë got along great with Irissë, Findekáno, Findaráto, Angaráto and Aikanáro, but never liked Artanis or Turukáno and made her distaste known. She was indifferent about Arakáno. She had great love for Lalwendë and Finwë, but not for Findis and her other children.
After Melkor was released and tensions rose in the Fëanorian household, Molissë firmly picked Fëanáro's side, much like her husband. When the tension with Ñolofinwë boiled over, Molissë went into exile to Formenos, which strained her relationship with Nerdanel and ended her relationship with her parents, their relationship had suffered ever since she moved to Tirion and only rarely visited or wrote. Her parents and sisters as such developed a distaste for the House of Fëanor, believing they kept their daughter away, though Molissë acted out of her own will.
When the darkening occured, Molissë was with a squad sent to prepare rations and essentials to take with them to Middle-Earth, and as such was not present for the first kinslaying, but arrived in Alqualondë after the fighting had stopped. She was shocked at the scene she saw, but did not waver in her loyalty to Fëanáro and her husband.
In Middle-Earth she stayed with her family, as such living in Himlad, and took the name "Moleth". There she worked in the forges and helped Curufin, her son and the other smiths with the crafting of weaponry and armor for the Ñoldor. Like Curufin, she had a great admiration for the Dwarves and had their friendship.
She perished in the Dagor Bragollach, being overtaken during the flight toward Nargothrond. Her body was trampled by the other survivors in their panic and pursuing forces from Angband. Her family never knew what happened to her, whether she had died or had been taken to Angband.
Moleth reembodied in the early second age, after the Exile was lifted. She resided for a time on her own, doing forgework in cities that needed it in anonymity, for despite having been the wife of a prince, Moleth never gained much fame or renown. After a while, she reconciled with Nerdanel and started a job as a blacksmith under Mahtan. She lives in a small stone cottage in the hills together with 3 cats.
When she learned of Tyelpë's fate, she went to Lorien to find healing, and strong as she had always been, she recovered in time and went back to her home. There she still awaits the return of her beloved son and husband, Star of Fëanor still etched into her front door.

Hi, hello, so because of this post I have gotten attached to my random Elven maid who has to sew all of the banners.
So, because I have also been rotating her in my mind like a rotisserie chicken, have some fun facts about her.
Her name is Molinde (Mudriel in Sinda)
She's obviously a Noldo and by Elvish standard she's average. Pretty, but average. She grew up sewing and embroidering, she adores it.
She also follows Feanor and sons out of Valinor when they get exiled, she has not counted on actually starving, so she gets crafty with sewing the sails of the ships.
She eventually gets hired among the others as embroiderer for the Feanorian war banners (bc let's face it, it's Feanor and sons mainly doing that, we will have to wait until the end of the Helcaraxe hike to see more).
She's young and bushy tailed and her faith in the world is still intact. This all will pass by the tenth banner she has to sew, but she's fueled not by law, not by love, not by league of hell, BUT BY SHEER SPITE. A very Noldorian thing to do.
She has had to embroider and sew SO MANY banners one more complex than the others, and she has seen them destroyed, set on fire, torn apart, thrown in the marshes, seized by Morgoth's army. She's fed up.
"Ugh, can't these Elf lords have simpler designs?"
She says, beefing up to the Elf that comes up with these designs.
"One less star is not gonna be noticed!"
"One less star is going to be too close to the Nolofinweans' banners!"
"So WHAT, they are COUSINS!"
And so on. She absolutely knows how to use a battle axe. She has to get revenge on the orcs that set on fire her workshop.
And that's when she says, at the nth request for banners: "Yes, my Lord, I will sew these stars all over, but IF I AM NOT GETTING MY WEIGHT IN GOLD and *Insert Elvish king/prince* as my SPOUSE you are gonna go into battle with barely threaded banners and Morgoth will LAUGH at you all".
She has tried to get married to an unmarried Son of Feanor like that many times, unsuccessfully. She has gotten the gold tho, a meager consolation.
By the Second Age she's in Eregion, basically mothering Celebrimbor and still sewing. It's not war banners (yet), but by then she is known for being That Bitch in her restricted circle of embroiderers.
"Oh no, Lord Annatar, it's fine. By the way, you do look somewhat similar to someone I saw in the First Age, any relation?"
And Eregion gets destroyed and her workshop is once again destroyed. More fuel to her spite. And also she embroiders a huge "FUCK YOU, I TOLD YOU THAT ANNATAR GUY WAS FAMILIAR!"
She does end up in Elrond's Homely House and teaches embroidery to Arwen.
She KNOWS that ""Lindir"" is Maglor. At least one of them survived, that's enough for her.
She sails back to Valinor dragging Lindir/Maglor with her. I reckon that by the Fourth Age all the sons of Feanor are re-embodied. Will she finally get to marry one of them, after all she went through? That's for y'all to decide.
NOTES:
She has had generations of cats. The first one was given to her after the fifth unsuccessful try at marrying a Son of Feanor as a "haha you are going to be alone forever lol" kind of move, but she got attached to the little beast and becamea catlady.
She has embroidered a lot of cat-themed stuff.
Thoughts so far?
