President-elect Donald Trump admitted in an interview with Time magazine that it will be difficult for him to reduce consumer prices, contrary to statements he made on the campaign trail this year. “It’s hard to bring things down once they’re up,” Trump told Time in an hourlong interview for its “Person of the Year” feature. “You know, it’s very hard.” Trump is right that it’s very hard to achieve across-the-board price reductions. Curbing inflation is only a matter of slowing the rate of price increases — actual economy-wide price drops typically don’t happen outside of a massive economic downturn.

Nevertheless, Trump repeatedly told voters during the campaign that electing him president would cause prices to tumble. “Prices will come down,” Trump said during a rally in August. “You just watch: They’ll come down, and they’ll come down fast, not only with insurance, with everything.” “We will end inflation and make America affordable again, and we’re going to get the prices down, we have to get them down,” Trump said at a rally in September. “It’s too much. Groceries, cars, everything. We’re going to get the prices down.” “We will cut your taxes and inflation, slash your prices, raise your wages and bring thousands of factories back to America,” Trump said at a Georgia rally in October, reciting a line he used in speeches at several other events. Trump also specifically promised to get gas prices down: “I will cut your energy prices in half within 12 months.”

[...] But Trump never outlined a clear plan to reduce prices. His signature economic policy proposal during the campaign was to impose tariffs on imported goods, something economists said was more likely to spike prices since the companies that pay the tariffs can simply pass the cost on to consumers.

In an interview with Time Magazine that honored him winning the Time POY award, Donald Trump walked back his gaudy promise of lowering grocery prices while on the campaign trail by admitting that it would be difficult to lower such prices.

Trump lied about this issue to get enough voters to put him over the finish line, and some of the people who voted for him based on the belief that he’ll lower your groceries costs are gonna be in for a rude awakening.

I love rewatching Leverage.

Started rewatching The Underground Job for some Eliot content and instead remembered that Parker is often taking notes when grifting - both in preparation and during. She was writing out a script for herself and in redemption we finally got to see it develop into using notecards to classify any possible interaction!

Also this is the first time I realized that the kid Eliot meets in the mines is the same kid whose birthday it is about to be when the mine exploded. Making him 14 two years prior (its unclear if he was turning 14 or 15)- which means Cory is only 16/17 years old... hence why the miners always try to keep him as far from "the action" as possible.

When the mine owner complains about how the union demanding workers be paid fairly and have safe working conditions is destroying the business Sophie and Hardison both let their disgust show- they both break!

Parker (or Hardison) keeps a pillow and blanket in Lucille so that Parker can take a nap after too much social interaction [which is now inspiring me to bring a blanket( or maybe a comfy sweatshirt) to my office so I too can nap after too much interaction]

After making anti-trans attacks the center of his campaign, Donald Trump now claims he’s not preoccupied with stripping trans people’s rights since they make up such a small percentage of the population. Trump was recently named Time’s 2024 Person of the Year, and in his extensive interview with the publication said he agreed with transgender Rep.-elect Sarah McBride (D-DE) that lawmakers should focus on more pressing issues than where she will use the bathroom. “I do agree with that. On that—absolutely,” he said. “As I was saying, it’s a small number of people.” The interviewer brought up Trump’s assertion in 2016 that trans people could use any bathroom they wanted. Trump replied that he did not “want to get into the bathroom issue” since “it’s a very small number of people… and it’s ripped apart our country.”

“They’ll have to settle whatever the law finally agrees,” he continued. “I am a big believer in the Supreme Court, and I’m going to go by their rulings, and so far, I think their rulings have been rulings that people are going along with, but we’re talking about a very small number of people, and we’re talking about it, and it gets massive coverage, and it’s not a lot of people.” The comments run directly counter to the vicious anti-trans campaign Trump ran, spreading outrageous lies that schools are forcibly transitioning kids without parental consent and spending millions of dollars on anti-trans ads that many believe helped swing the election in his favor. The Time staff called him out on the contradiction, pointing out that one of the ads he put the most money behind declared “Trump is for us and Harris is for they/them.” “Well it’s true,” Trump replied. “Trump is for us.”

Donald Trump, who repeatedly trafficked in anti-trans bigotry during his campaign, told Time that trans issues “ripped apart our country.” This man is NOT to be trusted on trans-related issues (or any issue, for that matter).

Found some Spacers living their best life on Va'ruun'kai after their ship crashed and they took over a Va'Ruun military base.

Their leader declared himself King. 👑

They made a lil beach with a bar.

Lots of motivational branding.

And several of the gang clearly had their own hobbies. (Wish I could fit more pics on this post but alas.)

My personal favorite was a guy named the Captain. (He was responsible for recording messages. I 💕 him.)

They had group entertainment.

And a very subtle throne for the King.

Best thing I found? A report of what loot the teams had brought back included "a shitload of baguettes" and "too much poutine".

They were NOT kidding.

Honestly kinda hated to fight these guys. RIP to these Spacers wish we could have been friends.
