Mothwing.. and Hawkfrost
I don’t know how many of you frequent the Warrior Cat website but if you do, you probably already know that a brand new series (Series 4) of Minis dropped! The Warrior Cat Minis are official merchandise and are basically the warrior cat equivalent of action figures or Funkopops! The minis currently have 4 series which comprised of 2 characters per box. Boxes are usually released in sets of 3, which means each series has a total of 6 characters. The first series features the following; Firestar + Leafstar, Tigerstar + Tawnypelt and Greystripe + Jayfeather. The second series features; Ravenpaw + Sandstorm, Cinderpelt + Brightheart and Jayfeather (again) + Blackstar. The third series has; Squirrelflight + Scourge, Ashfur + Mudclaw and Yellowfang + Ivypool. The most recent series, released December of 2022, includes Bluestar + Darkstripe, Mapleshade + Crookedstar and the subjects of this piece.. Mothwing + Hawkfrost!
Before I summarize who Mothwing and Hawkfrost are, I want to quickly talk about the minis. I’m honestly unsure how the team behind the merchandise chooses which characters to pick. Do they choose based on popularity? Clan? Design? The most recent books? Past books? Or do they just pick randomly? It’s kinda hard to determine as the current series don’t have too much of a trend.. I mean most of the minis are Thunderclan and some are related in some way. For instance Firestar, Sandstorm and Squirrelflight all have minis along with Firestar’s grandson Jayfeather. Cats from past arcs are featured more than current ones and a large majority of characters are villains, which is interesting..
Anyway, for those not up to date on canon characters, I will quickly summarize who Mothwing & Hawkfrost are. ⚠️ Spoilers ahead for The New Prophecy, Power of Three, Omen of the Stars and A Vision of Shadows arcs along with the newest arc, A Starless Clan. Spoilers also for the Tigerstar & Sasha and A Shadow in Riverclan manga/comics ⚠️
According to the Warriors Wiki, Hawkfrost was “Hawkfrost was a RiverClan warrior under Leopardstar's leadership in the forest and lake territories and was a member in the Dark Forest. Hawk was born a rogue to Sasha and Tigerstar alongside his littermates, Tadpole and Moth. After Tadpole's death, Sasha took her kits to RiverClan, where he was renamed Hawkkit, and later became an apprentice as Hawkpaw, being mentored by Leopardstar. After becoming a warrior, Hawkfrost was made deputy temporarily, but was demoted back to a warrior after Mistyfoot returned. Following the arrival at the lake, he urged Mudclaw in his rebellion and grew close to his half-brother, Brambleclaw. Hawkfrost and Brambleclaw trained in the Dark Forest by their father, and once Brambleclaw became ThunderClan's deputy, Hawkfrost lured Firestar into a fox trap for Brambleclaw to kill; however, his half-brother impaled Hawkfrost with the fox trap, mortally injuring him; he subsequently descended to the Dark Forest. Hawkfrost trained Ivypool, having such faith in her, until she sided with the Clans in the Great Battle, and in the wake of Ivypool's betrayal, he killed Hollyleaf. Eventually, Hawkfrost faced Mothwing and killed Dapplenose, and after confronting Brambleclaw, his half-brother killed him a second time, making him vanish forever.” Likewise, Mothwing is “Mothwing is the current medicine cat of RiverClan who has served under Leopardstar's, Mistystar's, Owlnose's, and Tigerstar's leaderships in the lake territories. She was also previously a temporary leader alongside her apprentice Frostpaw. She was born as Moth to Sasha and Tigerstar alongside her brothers, Hawk and Tadpole. After Tadpole died, Sasha brought her kits to RiverClan, and Moth became an apprentice as Mothpaw with the Clan deputy Mistyfoot as her mentor. She later earned her warrior name of Mothwing and grew inspired to become a medicine cat. In order to secure power, Hawkfrost faked an omen so Mudfur would accept Mothwing as his apprentice. Mothwing initially dreamed of StarClan, but when Hawkfrost revealed he faked the omen, she refused to believe in StarClan because of it. After Mudfur's death before the Great Journey, Mothwing became RiverClan's sole medicine cat. She formed a close friendship with the ThunderClan medicine cat Leafpool, and she assisted with training Mothwing's apprentice, Willowshine, about StarClan and dreams. Mothwing was manipulated by Hawkfrost to send away Stormfur and Brook from RiverClan, though was finally free from him after his death; she did grieve for her brother. Despite Mistystar learning about her not believing in StarClan, she demoted Mothwing as an elder; however, Mothwing retained her position after an omen. Following the Great Battle, Mothwing revealed that she believed StarClan existed, but questioned their guidance. She was named by a codebreaker by the impostor, eventually being exiled from RiverClan for her birth and took refuge in ShadowClan, becoming a medicine cat for the rebels. Although she was allowed back into RiverClan, Mothwing chose to remain in exile and joined ShadowClan under Tigerstar. She later returned to RiverClan following the defeat of the impostor. After returning, Mothwing became the mentor to Frostpaw, and begrudgingly took up leadership of RiverClan following the sudden deaths of Mistystar, Reedwhisker, and Curlfeather. She acknowledged that RiverClan needed help from the other Clans with their current situation seemingly at odds with StarClan.”
Mothwing + Hawkfrost are actually very interesting characters. What makes them stand out (in my opinion) is they almost serve as a comparison for Bramblestar & Tawnypelt. All four cats share Tigerstar as a father and reacted to his influence in very different ways. Likewise, Mothwing & Hawkfrost entered Riverclan as older kits instead of being born into the clan. They were raised by their mother Sasha for some time before she left Riverclan to protect them. It is revealed in both the Tigerstar & Sasha and A Shadow in Riverclan comics that Sasha didn’t want to be recognized at a gathering by Shadowclan, as some of the cats there knew about her connection to Tigerstar. She wanted to protect her kits from being judged for their heritage. Because of all this, Mothwing & Hawkfrost are more open-minded than some clan cats as they weren’t raised in a clan. On a similar note, Mothwing is the first known atheist medicine cat. All other medicine cats shared a belief in Starclan. Most of the books make it out that Mothwing thinks Starclan exists but chooses not to worship them, often criticizing their role in clan cats’ lives. Mothwing also wasn’t chosen by Starclan to be a medicine cat. A lot of the medicine cats received visions or omens that determines their destiny but Mothwing’s situation was a little different. Since she didn’t believe in Starclan, they couldn’t give her any kind of visions. Instead, her brother Hawkfrost, in an attempt to get his sister in a powerful position in the clan that would secure his leadership, faked a sign by leaving a moth’s wing outside of the former RC medic cat Mudfur’s, den. This made Mudfur choose Mothwing as his apprentice despite not receiving anything from Starclan. The last thing I wanted to touch on relates to a comic released in 2020 about Feathertail. In the comic, Feathertail is depicted as having been extremely close to Mothwing & Hawkfrost, serving as a mentor and second mother figure to them. Then, after finding out their father’s identity, she acts very cold and dismissive toward them. Then she goes on the sun drown place quest and dies saving the Tribe from Sharptooth. I wonder if Feathertail’s death impacted Hawk & Moth. I would have liked to see them mourn Feathertail or act bothered by her death. I know the comic was created after The New Prophecy but Mothwing recently received a novella and it wasn’t touched on there.
But me and the rest of the SMT would love to hear what YOU think! Do you like Mothwing and Hawkfrost? Do you have a preference for one over the other? Did you buy/will buy the series 4 minis? How do you think the team chooses who to feature? What’s your thoughts on A Shadow in Riverclan, specifically Feathertail’s relationship to Feathertail? What do you think about Sasha’s choice to abandon them? Did you read the new Mothwing novella? Leave all your thoughts, opinions and feedback in the comments below. Did you like the art style of this piece? If you did, consider leaving a like on the original post on Amino. Supporting the original artist directly benefits this account! This is by motivating more creators to allow us post their work which gives us more content to share with you all. On a similar note, do you want more Warriors centered content? I would recommend joining the Warriors Amino where we have a fun and active community that creates art, writing and more based on the battle cats you know and love!

Warrior Cats Chronological Liveblogging Masterpost
Edit: this project is no longer active. :/ hope to get back to it someday, but my hopes aren't high.
Hello, and welcome to my attempt to read through all of Erin Hunter's "Warrior's" (AKA "Warrior Cats") books, in the order shown here. I've previously read basically everything released before the third Dawn of the Clans book, so ~half of these wont be blind reactions, though it's been so long since I read these that I don't remember a lot of them well. Still, understand that this blog will often contain spoilers for books other than the one a post is about, as I reference future material!
Dawn of the clans:
The Sun Trail:
Prologue and chapter 1
...And that's all for now. Hit keep reading if you wanna hear why I'm doing any of this though.
Warrior cats means a lot to me.
Growing up, I had a strange relationship with reading. Until I turned about five and really tried to read a book for the first time, I was convinced that I hated reading. Then once I'd tried it, I loved it, but was convinced that I'd only be able to understand kids books or manga.
Of course, I was wrong. I was more capable than I thought. But bigger, more serious books... they were strangely intimidating to me.
So. One day, me and my sister are at swimming lessons, but there's enough of an age gap that we weren't in the same class. We'd both have to wait like half an hour for each other to be done.
I had made the mistake of not bringing anything to do. But my sister had.
Warriors books. But specifically, the manga.
Warriors having manga spinoffs is one of the weirdest marketing gimmicks ever, but it worked very well on me. A more traditional book might have scared me off.
With no other options, I picked up- if I remember correctly- Tigerstar Sasha book three.
For the record, this is an absolutely CURSED way to get into these books. It was so far disconnected from the main series that it was practically it's own thing. Not to mention it was the finale of this little spin-off.
Still, it was mildly entertaining.
And then a kitten fucking drowns.
That's fine. After all, there's no way they would really kill off a literal kitten. I continued reading.
But it never showed up again.
I reached the end of the book. Kitten still dead.
I leaned back on the uncomfortable poolside bench, mind fucking reeling. It was the most brutal thing I'd ever read. I felt a little sick to my stomach.
But, oh how I wanted more.
I proceeded to read every Warriors manga my sister had brought. Then every manga my library had.
This continued to be a cursed way to read this stuff. The clans are portrayed as distant, ambiguously villainous, and almost irrelevant. The characters the manga feature are fucking bizarre. They occasionally do weird things to the cannon.
But I loved it all. I wanted more.
But I didn't get more. I ran out.
There was no other option. If I wanted to read more Warriors, I'd have to read the books.
...I didn't start with the first one. But I got to it eventually. I got to them all.
I credit Warriors with making me truly love reading. It's a debt I cannot repay. The Erins are responsible for making me the person that I am today.
So it's a shame that. Uh. The books are...
....................not always very good.
In fact, Warriors kinda sucks sometimes. It's worldbuilding is nonsense, it's characters are idiots, and the books are so repetitive that there are tons of scenes you could take out of context, remove the names from, and then show me... And I'd have trouble telling you what arc they were from, much less what specific book.
I've tried to do this whole "read Warriors chronologically" like five times. I don't think I've ever gotten past sun trail.
The hope is that if I make this blog, maybe I'll be able to keep with it enough to get properly re-invested. Not to mention that one of my motivations for wanting to get back into the series is the distant idea that I'll write some fanfic- so, these posts can act as notes about things I found interesting, that I can possibly refer back to.
Also, I've heard some fucking crazy shit about the newer books I've not read. I so desperately want to know the details.
It's a long road I walk now.

bfw!hawkfrost talk
"She remembered saving him as a kit. She then remembered his mother and who she was with. Then she remembered the gentle look of relief he had when she returned. Hawkfrost didn’t remind her of Tigerstar."
now this is going to be a post about me discussing my thoughts/interpretations of hawkfrost's character in the battle for warriors crossover fic. in no way shape or form will he be slightly close to the canon books other than events that happened in his youth / relationships (just a warning for anybody coming in here crossoverblind being like "Wtf")
i have plenty of THOUGHTS so putting it under a cut haha.
*includes a bit of spoilers for "a shadow in riverclan" as well as the fanfic, ships lost at sea.
in SLAS and the crossover canon specifically, hawkfrost is still the son of tigerstar and sasha. he is still mothwing's and tadpole's littermate with the latter still dying the usual way (via drowning oops).
also sasha still brought them to riverclan where they stayed together for a bit. leopardstar is still pressuring/bugging sasha to get a warrior's name and become apart of the clan officially and out of fear of shadowclan recognizing her, she leaves the clan as well as her kits.
also the feathertail/sasha friendship still happened as well as the sudden break between them once feathertail found out that tigerstar is her kits' fathers.
in "a shadow in riverclan", the vibe i got was that feathertail becomes disinterested in both mothpaw and hawkpaw. why this is relevant is because feathertail promised sasha that she'd look after her kits (before the tigerstar confession thing as well feathertail saving hawkpaw from drowning).
pre SLAS (and in this crossover in general), feathertail still keeps a watchful eye over hawkpaw and mothpaw even if tigerstar is their father. sure, she's angry at sasha back then because how could anyone love a monster like him, but she can't bring herself to be mad at the kits.
she continues to play with them, watch them grow, advises them as best as she can (her, stormfur, and mistyfoot would be the few that can even somewhat relate to hawkpaw and mothpaw as they all aren't fully riverclan). her motivation behind this is because they're only apprentices. they barely became apprentices when sasha left riverclan. they don't even know their father was a bad person; their only parent straight up abandoned them and they don't know why.
considering feathertail's own background (her birth mother died in childbirth and while graystripe was in riverclan temporarily, he was exiled by leopardstar because he couldn't bring himself to fight against his own clan. all of this happening when she was a kit too), there's no way she'd be able to abandon hawkpaw and mothpaw the same way. it leads to heartache, it leads to wondering if one was "good enough", it sets up a cat for failure. she's aware of this as her surrogate mother, mosspelt, tried her damn hardest to give her and her brother as much support as she could. because of mosspelt's kindness, feathertail pays it forward.
this means that hawkpaw's biggest support system was feathertail. sasha left him, but it was feathertail that stepped up to fill that role. she saved his life after all. leopardstar, as a mentor, had high exceptions for him but it was to feathertail he could always go back to for a sense of comfort and safety.
feathertail's personality really protects him at his most vulnerable where he could have gotten the wrong idea that a strong cat was one who showed no mercy. a strong cat wouldn't die from drowning (his brother, tadpole) and could shred an entire clan (to prove himself worthy despite his rogue lineage). he learns its okay to lean on others / when to be aggressive yet when to be kind / to be brave against injustice. unlike his canon counterpart, his motives are because he cares about those closest to him.
he fakes the moth wing sign so that his sister could become a medicine cat when mudfur was hesitant. he wanted her to achieve her true calling even if that was different from his initial hope of them both being warriors.
when feathertail is chosen to go to the Sundrown Place, he is fearful. he worries this might be a repeat of his own mother; he'd never see her again. he keeps a straight face on the outside, but inside he is screaming at StarClan why they had to pick her for a long journey. he wants her back safe and sound and has faith in stormfur to keep his promise about them both coming back in one piece.
as a warrior, he protects feathertail as fiercely as she did when he was a 'paw. he's willing to go toe to toe against his father in cat hell and once feathertail becomes attached to bottle/clearpaw, he's also quick to protect her too. feathertail, clearpaw, and mothwing still remain as the closest family he has left.
at the end of SLAS, sasha returns with a new kit. i won't explain much here since this is involved in my future plans for this crossover, but it's definitely an interesting area for me to explore the theme of family for someone like hawkfrost.
tl;dr: hawkfrost is a nice guy in the crossover because feathertail continued to be influential in his formative years, preventing him from following the same path of evil as his father.

Hello, you can call me Froggy!
I am bisexual & Gender fluid teen from Poland,15 years old, and use She/They pronouns. Sorry for grammar and punctuation errors, English is not my native language, and unfortunately I have dyslexia and dysorthography, but I will do my best for my work to be understandable for you! :) In this side-blog I will post Warrior Cats characters designs, as well as a lot of things from my wc-Biology rewrite, I will probably also analysis warriors books and stuff.
This is more of my ‘main blog’ then my actual main blog @frogcat7 where I don’t really do anything, perhaps I will post my other xenofiction designs there but I am not sure yet. But I have also other side-blog @frogkingtheorginal where I post a whole lot of things (by far most are wof doodles). I don’t really care for spoilers, but I don't feel confident talking about topics I don't know well yet, so here are warriors books I have read already: tpb, tnp, po3, oots, dotc (3 books out of 6), SE: Tallstar’s R, Yellowfang’s S, Crookedstar’s P, Bluestar’s P, Firestar’s Q, SkyClan’s D, Crowfeather’s T, N: Cloudstar’s J, Mapleshade’s V, Goosefeather’s C, Blackfoot’s R, Leafpool’s W, Mistystar’s O, Dovewing’s S, M: Tro Scourge, Tigerstar and Sasha, Ravenpaw’s P, Graystripe’s A, SkyClan atS, FG: The Ultimate Guide, ShS: Spottedleaf’s Honest Answer.
So, now I’ll tell you quickly about the rules of my blog, but don’t worry, there wouldn’t be a lot of them 🙂:
Do:
> I am very open for questions 😁, and I would really love to see conversations and debates in the commentary section :), Respond to posts as much as you want, that will really motivated me.
> I would try to respond to as many questions as possible, though I can't promise to get to all of them.
> If you see a mistake, or something I may do better, don’t be shy and write to me constructive criticism, this project is my first as big one🙂. You can write your ideas I will appreciate it as well.
> “Can I use X in my project?” Of course, but don’t forget about credit 😁!
Don’t:
> I am only human and a minor one in addition, so, I can make mistakes, so, please don’t be mean, I will block mean accounts.
> I respect your opinion, so, I expect you to respect mine. Everyone have different look on warriors characters, books or plot, so, live and let live!
> Peadophiles and so, do not interact, (such entities will be blocked as well).
> The biggest crime (for me) is if you use my work and say its yours. This is not only harmful to me, but also to your creativity, so, remember about it!
ASKBOX STATUS: open 😁/ currently at: 0 asks
Biology, Details, Headcanons!
My main and most comprehensive passion project is The Warrior Cats Biology Rewrite, a correction of Erin Hunter’s Warrior cats series which will take place in the western part of US, and in particular in the region of northern California and southern Oregon, it mostly aims to:
> Correct the natural world of Warriors. So, eliminate all the weird, terribly unnatural things that they made in canon (so turtles in mountains, hyper aggressive foxes etc.)
> Spice up Warrior cats belief system and mythology, and diversity it a bit more to not be so, plain and boring. And to create more interest to them thru legends and myths
> Create more details and story to the timeline of Filed Guides and basically everything before TPB, as well as create more lore and sympathy to the long forgotten background characters [ I don’t really think (at least by far) that I will do it in the ‘long post’ form, it’s more likely that all of this will be thrown into the Hedcanons folder]
> I will try to improve plot later (probably) but it seems to me that I will not take it very seriously, because there are just too many great blogs that are already doing really great job. And I’m not really interested in this that much. I just wanted to say that no cat will be deleted in my rewrite, and sooner I will add OC to it, but I will try not to do that, and better work with cats that are already there.
So, for the long time I wanted to do a Warriors rewrite, But I also wanted to make a designs blog, so, I combine it. For the characters I want to do all of them, and by all I mean really ALL, not only main and background cats, but every creature that has a page on the wiki, also the not named ones like The Stranger from dotc, or The Rat King. But also to give more atmosphere to what I do, I planned to draw all the really, really forgotten cats, that some of even don’t have a page about them. Like The random ginger molly with kittens from Sun Trial, or Thunder’s siblings.
In this rewrite I will also use ideas made by others, as I find them magnificent. Those things are: @cryptidclaw ‘s Titles Idea and their meaning, and mostly a lot of @bonefall ‘s stuff, like the Clan and Tribe Meow, The politics ideas, so Fire Alone, Thistle Law etc. and other cool stuff. And I'm sure I'll change or expand some of these things. I will treat them a bit like a progenitor for my own projects. When I will use something from someone, I will tag this person’s name. But when there will be a coincidence (’cause there can be one), like in my rewrite Frost’s and Brindle’s mother is Trans FtM Tawnyspots and their sire is Featherwhisker, and in Bonefall’s Feather is also their sire, I will not tag them.
Sorry ‘cause I won’t post stuff regularly. And I have big problem with motivation but I wish I won’t lose it on this project 🙂
And in the end I just want to say Big thanks to all blogs that are an inspiration to me, and that’s being @cryptidclaw , @fatal-rewrites-warriors , and @bonefall , they are really cool, and if you want I really recommend checking them out!

The F, Sasha?
I think we can all agree that it was a complete dick move of Sasha to tell all the Clans about Tigerstar fathering Mothwing and Hawkfrost, a secret she left the Clans and her kits to keep silent.
Why did she do it? Because it would be easier with the secret off her kids’ backs? So that they could accept their heritage and move past it?
Nope.
She did it because she wanted her two kits to get kicked out of their Clans so that they could live with her.
The scene basically goes like this:
1. Sasha explains that now that the Clans are moving, she wants her kits to leave their Clans to live with her.
2. Hawkfrost is firm on staying in Riverclan. Mothwing hesitates. Hawkfrost tells her that he’s Riverclan now and that “one day I’ll be leader.”
3. Sasha responds “No. You won’t.” Then she walks up to Leopardstar and ask that she order Hawkfrost and Mothwing to stay back, after her kids very clearly tell her that they don’t want to go.
4. After Leafpaw tries to convince Mothwing (who still seems unsure) to stay, Firestar cuts in, stating that the choice is theirs, though he agrees that they should remain in Riverclan.
5. Sasha then angrily asks (and this is a direct quote): “You want them to stay? In spite of the fact that Tigerstar was their father?”
Yeesh, Sasha.
She knew very well that her kits would be ridiculed if cats knew that Tigerstar was their father. That’s why she left them and the Clans in the first place. But when things didn’t go her way, she immediately uses the secret against them.
It’s not that she thought nothing would happen. She wanted to have them kicked out of the first real home they knew, the home they had now spent moons living in. She wanted them to leave behind any friends they may have made, any bonds. She wanted to turn their Clanmates against them so that she could have them.
Yes, she probably did it out of anger and desperation, but still. Seriously? Either if they had been kicked out or stayed, she could have ruined her kits’ lives.
To top it all off, before Sasha leaves, Mothwing wonders if she will give them a final piece of motherly advice, words Mothwing could hold with her. But all she says is “good luck on your journey. See ya.”

The new books put me in a really big Mothwing mood for reasons I'll describe under the spoiler cut, so I decided it was about time she got a new and improved ref sheet. So here is the atheist medicine cat herself. ^^
On her wiki page, Mothwing is described as a triangular-faced, thick, sleek, and long-furred, she-cat with huge amber eyes, a broad head, and a fluffy tail. I based her off the look of a Turkish Angora (specifically this gorgeous cat), to get that sleek, lithe, triangle-faced look I wanted. She's got a bit of her father and brother in her with the tufted ear tips (though only the tiniest bit tufted) and the thick pelt, but hers is more medium-length (except for that fluffy tail) and a bit sleeker-looking. No scars for her, since she's a medicine cat.
For her pattern, Mothwing is described as a dappled dark golden tabby she-cat with rippling stripes and amber eyes. I didn't really make her that dappled (maybe the points count? those are kinda rounded splotches, at least the one on her head? I dunno), but she's got those rippling stripes, at least. Just like last time, she's a lynx point tabby, inherited from mama Sasha, though this time her colors are a lot lighter and more golden. She's still dark golden on her points, though, so I think it counts.
Her face stripes and the lighter marks around her eyes are meant to somewhat resemble a moth, not so much as to look unrealistic, but enough to be noticeable. And while this wasn't originally my intention, I lightened her belly colors a lot at one point because I didn't like how they looked, and I realized that her new look made her look a lot like a golden tiger, which seemed perfect given her heritage, so I leaned into that a bit. I'm really happy with how it ended up looking. She's got her father Tigerstar's shade of amber eyes, of course.
Overall, I'm really happy with how this turned out. The lineart turned out amazing, she looks exactly the way I wanted to, and her colors ended up working really well together. And now for my thoughts on the newest books under the cut.
SPOILERS FOR VEIL OF SHADOWS AND MOTHWING'S SECRET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Mothwing has seriously jumped up in my esteem after those new books. I already liked her a lot, but she might be one of my all-time favorite cats now. First, the way Jayfeather was so outraged at the idea of intentionally hurting a cat in order to fake their death, but Mothwing was just immediately like "I'm in" was actually fantastic, and how little Mothwing cared about Jayfeather's crankiness was great. Man, I used to love Mistystar, but the way she was in this book made me feel so bad for poor Harelight and Icewing. Mothwing was great again there as well, though, refusing to put up with Mistystar's nonsense and refusing to return to a Clan who would betray its own warriors that way. Her novella was fantastic too, the emotion of Mothwing's relationship with her brother hit so hard, and her deliberately turning her back on StarClan was great. Overall, I really liked the new books, and for me Mothwing emerged as one of the best parts of both books. :D

☀️ my boy Hawkfrost?
what about my Blood and Water series from Hawkfrost's pov? There are only two changes to kick off the AU but they're important:
Feathertail returns from the journey instead of Stormfur.
I never read A Shadow in RiverClan so throw everything that happens in that book out the window.
(before proceeding, please note that the last ‘act’ here contains some spoilers for part three of Blood and Water!! if you want to avoid those, stop reading after Tallstar passes away.)
Hawkfrost and Feathertail/Stormfur have never been close. After the trauma that they went through thanks to Tigerstar, none of them has ever thought it wise to interact beyond small talk on border patrols. And besides that, Feather/Storm are pretty protective of each other; it's almost impossible to catch one of them alone.
But Hawkfrost is bored. He's a strong warrior and well-liked considering his parents and above all he's ambitious, but Leopardstar and Mistyfoot are both healthy enough that it's pointless to wait for one of them to drop dead. When Feathertail returns from the journey sans Stormfur, Hawkfrost notices a shift in Feathertail; there's a bitterness about her, a darkness about her.
Which is to be expected! Again, trauma. But it interests Hawkfrost because he's never noticed it before. Their Clanmates have always treated Feathertail well for as long as Hawkfrost has been around. As a matter of fact they seem downright fond of her, like the Featherpaw that they held prisoner in TigerClan was a totally different cat. Hawkfrost hears the name Silverstream mentioned a lot and he's started putting pieces together:
Now that she's grown Feathertail looks like her mother, even acts like her mother at times, and he gets the idea that RiverClan sees her as Silverstream 2.0. They miss Silverstream so much that they even forget the fact that Graystripe is her father (which is a little bit harder to do with Stormfur seeing as he favors his father).
Hawkfrost's interest is piqued; there's more to pretty, polite Feathertail than he believed. Now that Stormfur isn't around to play bodyguard, Hawkfrost is free to be as bold as he wants.
So he starts talking to Feathertail when she's alone, which is startlingly often. He knows that trout is her favorite fish so he usually catches a fresh one and brings it with him, hoping to disarm her. Either the conversation flows easily or he immediately delves into the deep stuff; whatever will catch her the most off guard and open her up so that Hawkfrost can peer at the darkness inside her, prod at old wounds that never healed properly so they fester and ooze.
He doesn't expect her to do the same to him; she asks how he feels about Sasha leaving them in RiverClan, how he feels about Mothwing becoming more and more distant toward him, and if he wonders what his Clanmates whisper about when they think he can't hear them. He doesn't expect her to point out the similarities between them.
Hawkfrost is bored and Feathertail is interesting. Hawkfrost is calculating but Feathertail is observant and surprisingly self-aware. He doesn't mean for his poking and prodding to turn into a game but it does, and Hawkfrost doesn't know how to admit defeat.
They continue with their morbid, unspoken game throughout the journey. Their Clanmates think these two weird cats are just flirting; except for Mistyfoot, who was crushed when her best friend died and was willing to go to war for her kits. Stonefur died protecting those kits from Tigerstar, and Mistyfoot won't let Feathertail die at the paws of Tigerstar's manipulative son. She starts pulling Feathertail away from him; Hawkfrost will eventually have to do something about that meddlesome deputy.
But for now they reach the lake and together, Hawkfrost and Feathertail find a new camp. It's perfect. It looks like things are on the up and up for the Clans.
Until Tigerstar starts whispering in his ear.
Until Tallstar's death and final order spark a civil war in WindClan.
Hawkfrost looks between Mudclaw, who was Tallstar's devoted deputy for moons, and Onewhisker, who is Firestar's personal friend, and Hawkfrost thinks it is easy to see who the rightful leader of WindClan is. But he has heard the stories of TigerClan and Bonehill and Leopardstar's darkest hour as RiverClan's leader.
He thinks he can use this civil war to RiverClan's advantage.
“How does Onewhisker’s leadership affect RiverClan?” Feathertail demands, when Hawkfrost shares his thoughts with her.
“How did my father’s leadership affect the entire forest?” Hawkfrost retorts. “WindClan has been allied with ThunderClan for a generation. Onewhisker is a personal friend of Firestar’s. If they don’t merge Clans then that only leaves one other option: Onewhisker will do everything he can to destroy their friendship to prove his independence, and that sort of desperation starts wars. If WindClan wants a new ally, what leader is weak enough to fall for it?”
Feathertail knows about TigerClan and Bonehill and Leopardstar's darkest hour more personally than anyone else. He can see the conflict in her eyes.
She returns to camp without pledging her loyalty to Mudclaw's rebellion. Hawkfrost knows that she can turn around and tell Mistyfoot exactly what he's planning; it's a calculated risk. He knows how she resents Leopardstar, resents RiverClan, and he hopes that outweighs her moral code.
It doesn't. She tells Mistyfoot about the rebellion. Curiously though, when Mistyfoot leads a patrol of warriors in support of Onewhisker, Feathertail isn't present. He doesn't see her at all, until,
Mudclaw is killed by a falling tree, a clear sign from StarClan. Hawkfrost sneaks out of camp to clear his head and plan his next move. Feathertail finds him.
"Mudclaw died. Your plan failed. What will you do next?"
After that stunt she pulled, Hawkfrost can't trust Feathertail enough to admit that Mudclaw becoming WindClan's leader is only a setback; sure he would have an easy allegiance when it came time for him to make a move for RiverClan's leadership, but Hawkfrost can still bet on Onestar wanting to make allegiances with anyone other than Firestar. It's not like he would really need Mudclaw's help assassinating Mistyfoot, anyway.
"Pray that Leopardstar learned her lesson a long time ago about allying with other leaders. Maybe StarClan will take pity on us all."
Feathertail's eyes flash again, and she breaks their gaze. Good. She sided with Mistyfoot this time but she's still conflicted. There's still hope that when the time comes and Hawkfrost really needs Feathertail's support, he'll have it.
Because as much as Feathertail hates RiverClan, as lost and confused as she is without Stormfur to reassure her, Feathertail has everyone wrapped around her paw. She's perfect Silverstream's perfect daughter. When Feathertail chooses to speak up they listen to her, even Leopardstar; even cats from other Clans. She's so consumed by bitterness and depression that she has no idea, the sway that she holds.
Tigerstar whispers in his ear and says that Feathertail cannot be allowed to realize this power. She will jeopardize all of their plans. She is a threat to everything that Hawkfrost has worked so hard for; respect, admiration, Hawkstar. If he has only one threat, then it is her.
So be it. Hawkfrost loves to play games and he doesn't know how to admit defeat. Either Feathertail will stand beside him or she will have to kill him, and Hawkfrost finds this so fitting, so poetic, that it is Tigerstar's son versus Graystripe's daughter. The stars themselves couldn't have orchestrated a better rematch.
Feathertail is in for the fight of her life.

Thoughts and Feels- Leopardstar’s Honor
WARNING! Spoilers Ahead!
Right away....Holy shit those continuity errors. Seriously, why don’t they just hire a better editor. There are enough Warriors-Kids that are now in their late 20s that could probably do an outstandingly better job. But putting those aside.
All in all, it’s worth a read. I never really found myself bored with it, but I wasn’t glued to it like I had been for some early titles in The Broken Code or like I was to Blackfoot’s Reckoning (seriously. I think that might be the best warriors story that we’ve gotten in a long time. I need to make a full post about it soon)
Here’s what I liked:
- Leopardfur/star was characterized really well for most of of the novel. I think they start to lose her a bit right when the Tigerclan drama starts.
- I like how they painted Fireheart/star from the perspective of an outsider, and the very believable way she is convinced that HE is the social climber, not Tigerstar.
- Her strained but loving relationship with Mudfur. It’s a very real family dynamic, and adds a lot to both of them.
- Mistyfoot initially saying that she would stay with Thunderclan and telling Leopardstar off...even if they undid it within like one page
-Leopardstar’s interactions with Silverstream! Some of the best scenes
-Leopardstar having close, belivable friendships with Sunfish and Frogleap! Also her feelings for Frogleap I think were very well done.
-NOT making her in love with Tigerstar, and turning that into a throwaway line. Yes TY Erins.
- RIVERCLAN BEING MAD THAT GRAYSTRIPE BURIED SILVERSTREAM. It’s a small thing but I love tiny details like that.
Here’s what I didn’t like:
- The story really should have taken place from Leopardfur’s deputy ceremony onward to maybe Sasha’s arrival. Let’s be real, most of us were interested in the Tigerclan section, and somehow that section got the most rushed. We really didn’t need her kithood and apprenticeship, even if they had some good moments here and there. I think most readers wanted an in-depth expose of the Tigerclan alliance and buildup, collapse, and aftermath of it.
- Sunnyfall did a great video on how they failed to actually pull off gray morality. And it’s true. Leopardstar very much came off as a victim and was almost immediately forgiven by Riverclan despite not doing much to earn the forgiveness. This probably would have been fixed by dedicating more of the book to the aftermath.
-Also, if she actually wanted to break her allegiance with Tigerstar, they could have fought or sought out help from another clan to drive the Shadowclan warriors out. It all just comes off as very odd and it would have been better if Leopardstar was presented as being in denial of her bad decision.
- Very VERY cop-outy about the Bonehill scene. Once again doing a bad job of making her morally gray in that moment and just kind being like “Oh man wasn’t this so sad for her!”
- Mistyfoot immediately being like “Wait yeah I’ll come back I forgive you”
- Leopardstar’s fear of water kinda just...going away. Phobias don’t work like that.
- No exploration of her relationship with Stonefur at all. Or at least not as much as we should have had.
- THAT GOD AWFUL EDITING. It was actually a bit of a disgrace towards the end. They literally edited Stormfur and Feathertail’s apprentice ceremonies into the wrong chapter. So they are apprenticed and then referred to as not being apprenticed yet maybe a few chapters later. Come on ya’ll.
- Still no explanation given for the weirdness behind Tigerclan being composed of two clans and yet hating half clan cats. Did they just always intend that cats wouldn’t be able to mate with cats of different clan ancestry despite them being a giant clan composed of several clans? It’s a huge logic leap that has just never been acknowledged canonically.

The Warriors “manga”.. the only canon medium we really have (other than the book covers maybe) that actually depicts our beloved battle cats in a visual format. Just to clarify, the Warriors “manga” are labeled incorrectly. Manga, on Google, is defined as “a style of Japanese comic books and graphic novels, typically aimed at adults as well as children.” The Warriors comics are not made by or for Japan, which means they don’t classify as a manga. The artist of the manga varies but most of them are either American or British. The redraw of the comic page was drawn by the lovely r4ven._.krkr on Instagram. However the artist behind the original page is James L Barry! If you are at all in the loop in this fandom, you probably recognize his work. He has done the artwork for almost all of the Warriors manga minus the Tigerstar & Sasha manga. He has also illustrated the little comics at the end of the super editions and had worked on other works besides Warriors. On YouTube and Twitter, he has done tutorials on how to draw in his style. For more information about Barry and examples of his work, check out his website.
Now that we have some backstory on both artists, we can talk about the actual scene taking place. This comic page came from the Ravenpaw centered manga: Ravenpaw’s Path. This series has a total of 3 books: Shattered Peace, A Clan in Need & The Heart of a Warrior. These 3 books are also available together as one big book and can be found in black & white and full color. This particular scene takes place in The Heart of a Warrior. For those who haven’t read the comic or forgot what happens, I will summarize the events that take place before and then explain this scene. Spoilers of course ahead for Ravenpaw’s Path, you have been warned. This comic takes place right after Ravenpaw & Barley help Thunderclan fight off a group of Bloodclan cats who have been causing trouble for the both of them after Scourge’s death. These Bloodclan cats have been attacking clan patrols, stealing prey. A group of them also took over Raven & Barley’s farm, kicking them out of their home. After a visit to the moonstone, Ravenpaw goes to Thunderclan to help them finish Bloodclan for good. As it turns out, Bloodclan is being run by Barley’s twin brothers, Hoot & Jumper. They have renamed themselves Snake & Ice. After being defeated, they plead with Barley to let them stay with him because the rest of Bloodclan was sick of listening to them and wanted to kill them. Barley agrees, because they are kin, and the two brothers move onto the farm. All is not well however, both Jumper & Hoot are very lazy and have Ravenpaw do everything, all the hunting and cleaning. Everytime Ravenpaw attempts to complain about them to Barley, he ignores it and takes everything his brothers say to heart. This angers Ravenpaw and the two of them have a rift between them. Now for this actual scene, this is the scene when Barley finally discovers what his brothers have been doing to Ravenpaw and kicks them out for good. After Barley apologizes to Ravenpaw and they rekindle their bond. The comic ends with the two of them standing on the roof of the barn, looking out at their territory contently.
This redraw was done as practice, as the artist wanted to practice drawing comics. In their post, they talk about several critiques for the art style of the comic that they aimed to fix with their rendition. They are of the opinion that the artist could have put more effort into the comic. They think the art style is okay but they don’t really like it. The things they improved upon were the designs of the cats, the mimics, and the speech bubble. For the designs, the redraw artist thinks that Barley and his 2 brothers look identical. They think a little more effort could have been made to add external features to make them different, even if the two brothers weren’t main characters. Likewise, the artist thought the expressions were kinda stiff. So they made the expressions more exciting when the expressions show different emotions for a more realistic effect. They think it makes the characters less frozen. Finally, the speech bubbles, they thought it was a good idea for each panel to have different speech bubbles. Again, they think the speech bubble helps emphasize emotion like Barley yelling in the first panel. What do YOU think? Do you prefer the redraw or the original page? Do you think these critiques are fair? How else would you edit the original comic? Me and the rest of the team would love to hear what you think in the comments below. Likewise, if you like this art style, consider leaving a like on the original post. Directly supporting the original artist benefits this account greatly. It motivates more people to allow us to use their work. Are you interested in seeing more Warriors based content? Join the Warriors Amino! Hey, I noticed that you renamed Lynxkit to Mothkit. Will that mean Tigerstar has two kits named moth?
Hiya Anon!
To be honest I forgot Mothwing existed until you mentioned her lol. I'm still trying to figure out all of the family trees, and I keep on forgetting that certain cats exist or are related to one another.
The only plans I have for Mothwing is that she and her brother are born earlier, but that's it. Their existence is going to be tricky, honestly. On one hand, I want Tigerstar to be loyal to just Goldenflower. His character arc and drive for his actions are fueled by his desire to do what he thinks is best for his clan, especially so his mate and kits can have a better future. It wouldn't make any sense if he goes after Sasha and has Moth and hawk. But on the other hand, I love the canon drama with Moth and Hawk being Sasha and Tigerstar's kits. (plus, I ship Mothpool lol)
I haven't planned that far out yet, so I guess I'll have to think on it. I'm just on the first book, so I have a long time to decide before Hawk and Moth pop up. I do have plans for Mothkit though!
So technically if Mothwing existed, she would be named after Mothkit. So I guess Tigerstar does have two daughters named Moth? I know that other rewrite blogs don't give out spoilers but I love nothing more than blabbering about my plans, and I would love to explain more if anyone is interested. But for now, here’s a mini spoiler, Mothkit’s character represents innocence!
#anonymous#ask#I think Moth is an adorable prefix and it stuck on me#Even though I don't like bugs#Don't know why I don't like bugs they creep me out
