TIGERSTAR’S FAMILY TREE

Been wanting to draw his entire family for a while now ft a couple of my personal head canons :) Swiftpaw and Lynxkit being his kids just makes more sense imo?? Patchpelt (the canon father) was already an elder when they were born and I imagine Tigerstar was the type to want as many heirs as he could, and it also adds another layer of flavour to Swiftpaw’s death oops :)

After artfight I’m either gonna do firestar’s tree or try my best to detangle the mess that is thunderclan :3

flamepaw’s first night at the moonpool

Flametail! He is a cat that I have had headcanons for since forever. Son of Rowanstar and Tawnypelt, he is a missed opportunity of a medicine cat imo. He starts out as a cute kit that Jay Holly and Lion meet in the power of three when Tawnypelt seeks shelter in thunderclan when Sol disillusions Blackstar against starclan. He helps the three reignite Blackstar's faith by leading him to the fake sign from starclan and when it becomes a real sign gains the faith he needs to become a medicine cat apprentice. The chapters in Night Whispers that Flametail is the pov he still seems pretty jaded after starclan tells him that shadowclan must stand alone, and though he continues to serve his medicinal duties deliberately lies to a bedridden Littlecloud about going to half moon meetings because he was following his ancestor's decree. Its interesting that he has visions about his death before it happens, but it's narratively explained as visions of the great battle to come.

Which is a complaint I have about the writing in the Power of Three, where a lot of it was mostly about the vibe and had very little thought put into actual plot relevance of what was on the page. Flametail has a POV and ultimately it amounts to very little actual momentum for the plot. I want it to have meant something that he dies, and it just kind of doesn't! Its cool, don't get me wrong, but there isn't any power behind Flametail's death. it doesn't mean anything. It doesn't prove something about the power of the dark forest, it doesn't fulfill an omen sent by starclan (outside of his own personal visions) it doesn't even prove anything about the power Jayfeather, Lionblaze or Dovewing hold. Add to that there's a lot of build up to his exoneration of Jayfeather regarding his death, and that that somehow unites starclan? But then he just no longer has any plot relevance at all in the upcoming battle? it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Anyway, he has a really good relationship with his brother Tigerheart and sister Dawnpelt. Dawnpelt is part of the original sign making patrol with the three, and she also helps Flametail find herbs underneath the snow when he finds borage after pinepaw falls in some on accident. Tigerheart cares deeply for his brother and shows up to stop his spirit being killed in the dark forest, showing fierce anger that Ivypaw could ever consider attacking the medicine cat. Flametail also appears in Tigerstar's Leader ceremony to give him a life for Love.

Flametail is propably my favourite character not just in Arknights, but in any videogame ever! I cannot say that she did not contribute to my decision of making my fursona a red squirrel haha
