okay i’m speaking on something. the whole ‘men are easy women are scary that’s why i’ve never had a girlfriend’ thing. on the one hand, skill issue. on the other there is something to be said which is that when you treat a man the same way you treat women you’re trying to befriend he will fall in love with you. because the average level of emotional intimacy in cishet male friendships is so much lower. and so you treat him like one of the girls and he assumes you desire him carnally. meanwhile often when you’re flirting with women you basically have to say ‘i want you in a romantic way’ before they realize you’re not flirting with them as homies. so yeah. i still think it’s a skill issue. but i will allow that flirting with women does take a different approach whereas flirting with men doesn’t even take flirting sometimes
#as a lesbian of previous bisexuality#this was my experience#esp as a dykier girl#the things that made it clear i wasn’t flirting with dudes made them want me more

At the company retreat, one extremely drunk girl asked what my pronouns were. (Eventually, it took her a while to word the question.) After the whole conversation was done, she goes- "YEAHHH GURL, Get on with--with THY bad self! See what I did?? They/them/thy."
I was almost holding back tears from trying not to laugh as I told her yes that's great you nailed it honey. Thank you very much I am feeling the love.
Anyway I've been assigned Thee/Thine at Supportive Drunk Girl
#she was the epitome of ''he a little confused but he got the spirit''#everyone at this company retreat was drunk as a skunk#it was wild#all of them were very sweet don't get me wrong#but as someone who never went to college parties this was my first Experience with a true party

My friends who have never experienced flooding, and who are about to deal with it from this storm, please remember:
1. NO. YOU CANNOT MAKE IT THROUGH THAT WATER ON THE ROAD. I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU'RE DRIVING. TURN. AROUND.
2. DO NOT GO WADING THROUGH THE WATER. EVEN IF YOU JUST WANT TO SEE HOW DEEP IT IS. THAT. WATER. IS. CONTAMINATED.
3. IT IS CALLED FLASH FLOODING FOR A REASON. THE WATER RISES AND SURGES IN A FLASH. STAY. HOME.
4. If you're at risk of flooding, raise up any of your belongings now. Put the legs of tall things in buckets. Know where your important documents are.
5. Stay safe.
#not sca related#I have lived with Hurricanes and Tropical Storms my whole life and I am experienced with storm flooding#please listen to the voice of experience#I want you to stay safe#SCA Mom#SCA Aunt

as a child there's nothing cooler than a kid who gets subjected to evil experiments and gains special abilities. it's even cooler if these abilities also cause unfathomable suffering to use/against others. children love stories like this.
#I'm talking about max ride flatmate is watching spy x family#reminiscing on my multiple stories and ocs about this like truly#I think this might not be as universal as i think but if you liked max ride it probably was. my main oc as a tiny child was#a girl who grew up to be an unethical scientist who loved experimenting on humans and children. she could turn into a flying purple wolf bt#maximum ride

People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.
For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.
The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.
So yes, I’m going to pirate and support piracy.
Edit: if you are able, use $5 you would otherwise use for a streaming subscription to donate to a GazaFunds campaign.

i didn't have "i'm broken" teenage asexual angst i had "i'm literally being the only reasonable one about this concept and the rest of you are behaving like fucking freaks" perception issues
#oh the experience of being 13 years old and seeing all my friends talking about wanting to have sex and obsessing over it#and being like 'we are all literally WAY too young to be having sex what the actual fuck are you talking about#why are you even considering it when we have much more important things to worry about. like how much middle school sucks'#you know what though. i still stand by this. that was an entirely reasonable thought to have and i WAS being normal about it#anyway#mine#asexuality

no offense but you guys need to learn the difference between someone implying their experience is universal and a post simply just not being about you
#i’ve seen people respond to my personal posts venting about my own experiences and say that it’s ‘not universal’ or ‘needs more nuance’#like??? no it doesn’t ?? it’s a vent#i don’t need to pass it through peer review#text post#10k#top posts#15k#20k#25k#30k#40k#50k#60k#80k

My last post was being snarky but here's my genuine pronoun etiquette opinion in case you actually want to know: it's pretty much never a good idea to directly ask someone their pronouns in front of a group of people, especially if you're in a position of authority, i.e. a teacher. The stakes of this question are very high for some people and you are putting them on the spot to decide what they want to share and what is safe to share. If you have decided you want to ask for pronouns at all, you can introduce yourself with your own to remind people that they can share theirs if they want to. And for the love of god whatever you do please do not just single out the most gender non-conforming or "trans looking" (to you) person and ask only them and no one else
#obligatory disclaimer this is just my personal opinion/experience. i shouldn't have to say I don't speak for everyone but obviously i don't#but it keeps happening to me so#and sometimes by other trans people!

when u go to write a mentally ill person in ur story you are presented two options. the first option is to write your mental illness realistically as you actually experience it with all the ups and downs and people who are like you will resonate with it and feel seen. except every person who reads instagram infographics on mental health that uses the phrase narcicisst for anyone who does anything that crosses them and unironically call themself a dark empath will call you scary and tell you that youre demonizing mentally ill people
the second option is to lie and write inspiration porn for those people to get hard to
#just kidding the third option is i drive myself insane#trying to find a way to write someone like me in a way i may be respected as a human being#without shaving away the more frightening aspects of my experience or life#challenge level . impossible. i will die. or they will make youtube 3 hour long rant videos about it someday#scratchpost#txt

Kinda fucked up that we all coo and sympathize with "former gifted kids" but never talk about the students who had to stay late after school or over the summer for remedial classes/clubs, who struggled to get above a C, who were given up on or punished. Who tried so hard to understand or just couldn't. Who were grouped with the "stupid kids" (a classmate called us that in remedial math btw)
Autistic kids and adhders who can't relate to their gifted peers and are constantly alienated by them. Kids who struggled in school due to dealing with a chronic or mental illness or physical/learning/developmental disability. Those of us who have had to drop out of highschool or college. Kids who worked so hard and wanted to be seen as smart, but never were. Who watched as their peers seem to fly by them in school, while they were left behind. Who were bullied and put down by those in the gifted and honors classes. Whose confidence was absolutely destroyed by education.
I love you all and I'm so sorry the school system failed you. I'm sorry you weren't properly accommodated and given the education you deserved. I'm sorry people put you down for something that they never had to fight for.
#wrenfea.exe#was going to keep this in drafts for a bit but wanted to post to give my solidarity with morg#gifted kids act like they are the most oppressed but in my experience they love feeling better than other people#disability#chronic disability#chronic pain#spoonie#chronic illness#physical disability#autism

For years, I didn't even believe in the Zionist project, but identified myself as a zionist, because "zionism doesn't have to mean this right? It can be different, right?" (how often do we hear the idea that Zionism means 1 billion different things?)
I believed in Jews being able to return to the Levant. That's it. No states involved.
I legitimately didn't understand that the Zionists I knew really truly believed in a literal Jewish state.
I thought our views were really not so different.
But they were. My community just didn't want me to think they were.
They were certainly not going to tell me that I wasn't a Zionist. Many wanted me to keep identifying myself as a Zionist, so that one day either propaganda or just not being exposed to other perspectives would get me to truly believe in Zionism.
Just as many, I think, just didn't want to deal with the fact that I simply was not a Zionist.
Just some food for thought.
