For years, I didn't even believe in the Zionist project, but identified myself as a zionist, because "zionism doesn't have to mean this right? It can be different, right?" (how often do we hear the idea that Zionism means 1 billion different things?)
I believed in Jews being able to return to the Levant. That's it. No states involved.
I legitimately didn't understand that the Zionists I knew really truly believed in a literal Jewish state.
I thought our views were really not so different.
But they were. My community just didn't want me to think they were.
They were certainly not going to tell me that I wasn't a Zionist. Many wanted me to keep identifying myself as a Zionist, so that one day either propaganda or just not being exposed to other perspectives would get me to truly believe in Zionism.
Just as many, I think, just didn't want to deal with the fact that I simply was not a Zionist.
Just some food for thought.

Acting like any Jew asking about their safety at a rally or march is a Zionist is- at best- shortsighted.

Look at all the people going "actually Jews believe they're better than everyone else" and thinking they're not antisemitic.
#For the obtuse#This doesn't mean that individual Jews don't believe this#But acting like this is what all Jews think or that this is foundational to their Judaism is wrong

Why is it that it never seems to occur to y'all that Jews who oppose the war in Gaza, or name the Nakba or the apartheid system in the West Bank as things that exist and are bad, or oppose Zionism, are doing it out of actual sincere desire for justice and ethics?
Why do you always assume we're doing it to be "good Jews" or to save our skins or for social media clout? It's never occurred to you that we oppose the war in Gaza because people in Gaza are suffering and we actually sincerely care about that?
Honestly the level of false motives you ascribe to us would be antisemitic if it was coming from goyim.
And it's just disrespectful. Feel free to disagree with us. But please for half a second assume that we're not doing this to try to earn cookies from goyim.

Today marks the 76th anniversary of the Nakba, the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians to make way for Israel in 1948.
Over 750,000 Palestinians were displaced that day. This did not start on October 7th.
Know their history, fight for their future. 🍉

I am once again begging international leftists to at least be aware of, if not actively collaborating with, Israeli leftists (and the left in general).
The protests in Israel are massive and while many involved are people you probably disagree with on something, international pressure in congruence with domestic pressure is far more likely to create substantive change.
The Isreali gov very much wants Israelis to feel that their only option for survival is the state of Israel. Do not feed into that propaganda.
Lasting peace and change is going to require coalition building.

Acknowledging that the Temple was in Jerusalem doesn’t mean I think Al-Aqsa should be destroyed… it just means I don’t deny the historical Jewish presence in Jerusalem.

A whole lot of people hated the current Israeli gov before Oct 7, but now trust it to carry out a war in the most moral (ha ha war is never moral) way possible?

Do people get that acknowledging Jews have an ancestral homeland doesn't mean agreeing that there should be a genocidal/apartheid/ethno-state/any (kind of) state at all there?

IT'S BECAUSE YOU THINK THAT THE ONLY FORM ANTISEMITISM TAKES IS MEDIA REPRESENTATION!
IT'S BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT ANTISEMITISM IS!
IT'S BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT JEWS!
But, for real, do you give a shit about real live Jews? Do you care about the violent antisemitism they face? Do you care about their physical and mental well-being?
OR do you only care about "antisemitism" when it's calling a piece of media out for being "antisemitic?"
