Day 9: Lonely
What’s lonelier than the void of space? An empty volatile planet in the void of space!
You’re a little more than halfway back to camp when the earthquake starts.  This part of the planet is barren and rather unstable, you know that much — which is extremely unlucky for you.  There’s nothing for you to hold on to as the rock shudders beneath your feet, so you hug the ground in a desperate hope that it will save you.
When you signed up to be the on-board computational analyst for this journey to another potentially-terraformable planet, you had no idea it would require going outside on missions once you actually got there.
With your horrible luck, the open landscape you stand on splits wide open mere feet away, and all you can do is beg that your end will be swift.  Face pressed to the rock, you squeeze your eyes shut and wait.  However, as the groaning of ever-shifting tectonic plates comes to an uneasy rest, you realize that you’ve been spared.
Lifting your dust-covered form off the ground, you can now survey the damage dealt by the quake.  Your vehicle didn’t survive the split in the ground — having tipped into the long gaping gorge that appeared.  At this point, you're just happy to have survived, yourself.
The newly-formed chasm gapes open far too wide for you to even think of crossing it here, so you pull yourself together and turn back the way you came, examining the planet's surface for a new way back to base.  This new planet has both water and breathable air, but otherwise it isn’t very hospitable.
As you turn your back on the chasem, you notice the distinct feeling you're being watched.  There are a few potential threats on this planet, but nothing that might cause you to feel so threatened.  Then again, there are likely hundreds more dangers that you and your exploration crew have yet to discover.
Before you dare turn around to see what the earthquake had unleashed upon the surface, you can hear the echoing rumble of some big thing shifting — sliding out of the chasem.  Feeling that this is your final moment alive, you offer up another sad plea to the universe before turning around.
What you find behind you is equal parts frightening and mesmerizing. It turns your blood to ice and momentarily stops your heart.  An eye.  A glowing human-like eye watches you from the gorge.  It's as tall as you are, and about as wide as the length of a pickup truck.  You can't help but stand there in awe.  Though your fight-or-flight instincts scream at you to run, you can only stand and stare right back.
Silently watching eachother, you realize that it's not just you who are fascinated by the apparition.  This eye holds the same curious gaze that you wear yourself, albeit it’s hard to look at for long.  Staring at it is like staring into a headlight, glowing brightly with telltale waves of heat emanating from it.
Suddenly, everything shifts and the being rises.  You tuck yourself down to the ground again, left unsure whether the quakes were caused by this massive thing, or whether the quakes were what woke it.
When the shaking subsides, you look up to find yourself staring at a terrifyingly large smile.  It isn’t rude or cruel, but a rather kindhearted smile.  Nonetheless, you find your instincts springing back to life and your mind again screaming at you to run.  After all, each of its teeth are about the size of your head — if not bigger.
You scramble backwards and eventually turn and flee.  The small jagged hills of the planet's terrain aren’t that far off.  You don't stop until you reach them.  When you finally get within their weak safety, you chance a glance backwards.
The size of this strange being is almost too much to comprehend, and you throw your body weight backwards to a screeching halt that sends rocky dust floating up almost comically.  To the being, you probably haven't gone very far, but you feel like you've just finished sprinting a marathon.  Studying it at a further distance, you finally have the chance to understand what it looks like as it rises.
Its skin is a shocking void black.  Almost as if the being was made purely by the outline of an endless hole.  However, the silhouette itself is distinctly human — or half of it is.  Half its body is rigid and clear against the clouded sky, while the other half fades into dissipating tendrils; they billow and sift in the space around it like inky smoke.  The thing's eyes are the only feature that stands out against its body, and even they disappear into the empty darkness every so often as it blinks.  You had seen these up close.  They were shockingly golden, burning so brightly they almost seemed pure white.
The most terrifying thing is the sheer size of it — the unfathomable scale of something somehow living yet impossibly large.  Its torso is barely above the side of the chasm, yet the top of its head looked like it might be brushing the edge of the atmosphere.  You lean so far back to look at it, you fall over backwards and realize it’s easier to look at laying on the ground — like you’re stargazing instead of watching a living being.
Tears well in your eyes and you stare unblinking as it leans down over the hills where you hid.  Light from the close stars seems to be sucked directly into the being’s form. The sky grows pitch black.  It’s like being in a place in the middle of the night, with the only weak stretches of light ebbing in from far off in the distance — wherever this titan’s body ends.
An eclipse of a planet.. by a single being.
In a spectacularly horrifying way, it’s easier for your mind to comprehend that the world is being pulled into a blackhole than it is to think anything about this could possibly resemble a humanoid figure simply bending over.  It’s searching for you, only its head must not be close.  The light of its eyes would’ve given it away.  You’re safe from the colossus, for now.
As if the universe had sensed your heart calming down, another round of quakes start up again.  This time is more violent than the last.  When you scream you don’t even care that it will give up your position to the titan.  A chunk of rock tumbles off the sharply-carved hills directly in front of you.  Only a bit further back and your life would’ve been over.
In a panic, you try to find a way out, but the only escape you knew has just been blocked.  You try to climb around the fallen debris, but only manage to twist your ankle.  Pain immediately forces you back.  Amid the horrific groans of the stone around you, the sky — no wait.. the living being — shifts above you as two glowing lights drift closer.  Suddenly, you hear the crackle of rocks shattering.  A landslide hurdles its way down the jagged slope.  Before you can even process how much danger you're in, even the last bits of light get snuffed out, and the world goes dark.
At first you think you're dead.
Maybe you are dead.
No, you can still feel the pain in your ankle.  Everything's black.  Were you blinded?  You think you would be in a lot more pain if that were the case.  Shifting slightly, you sit up, and you begin to feel as if you’re on an elevator of some kind.  The entire platform of whatever you’re sitting on is rising into the air.  You don't even need your vision to feel the vertigo.  Light pours in, and you shield your eyes.  Four, no, five pillars of coal stand around you, each one at least twice as wide as yourself.  At last, a familiar figure settles into view, and you realize in gut-wrenching horror where you must be.
You are in the palm of the behemoth.  You are at its mercy.  With one finger, it could easily end your life.  Being so close, you can see more of its facial features — the vague outline of a nose, the glint of what might be eyelids.  Again, they are strangely human.
The being doesn't seem malicious.  More accurately, it doesn’t seem like it’s doing anything besides staring directly at and through you.  Warily, you beg it to put you down.  That gigantic expression shifts in a confused sort of way.  You guess that it either doesn't speak your language, or it can't hear you clearly enough at such a small size.
Rapidly, you think through what to do, but it's hard to think clearly at this height.  There isn’t much air up here.  You try to calm yourself.  Think rationally, breathe deeply.  Clearly, whatever or whoever this thing is does not intend to hurt you.  In fact, you’re fairly sure it just saved your life.  So, reasonably, you don't have to be so anxious.  Yet, you’re visibly shaking in fear, and your vision is starting to swim.
You long for the ground and remember the gorge.  If you yelled down it, there would be a rather loud echo.  Loud enough for this thing to hear you?  You hope so.  You hope that it's a matter of volume, not language.
This time, when you ask the being to put you down, you make a show of pointing to the ground.  It seems to understand you this time.  Just like before, you feel a sense of vertigo, but soon the gigantic hand slows to a stop.  You try to stand, but the being prefers to slide you off itself instead; tilting its hand until you tumble down to the rocky ground.
When you hit the rocks, pain explodes through your ankle and you cry out.  The being seems a bit taken aback, then rushes towards you.  Actually, it’s back in the gorge.  Only its single hand races towards you.  Its massive digits stretch across the open plain, searching for you.  You yell again, this time in fear, and beg it to stop its advance.  The being hesitates for a moment, and you throw yourself upward, fighting against the throbbing pain in your leg to get to the chasm.  Your echo idea had better work.
At the chasem's edge, you peer down.  The being settles back into the deep gorge below, its body melding into the dark.  You watch in awe from the side.  It's incredible how something so massive can move so fluidly — impossible, even.
"Hello?" you call down the gorge.  Just as you hoped, there is an echo.  "Please, can you understand me?  What are-"  You stop short as the being slides directly in front of you, and you stagger backwards at its surprisingly agile movement.  However, you can see that something has changed.  The being's expression shifts from curious to excited; now it watches you eagerly.
"Galaxies above!  I had no idea your kind had a language!  I have always thought you simply made weird noises.  Now this means I can speak with you!  Am I mimicking it right?  Oh I hope I am!"
You fall to the ground, pressing your hands over your ears.  Your vision is nothing but splotchy shapes and colors, and your head throbs in pain.  The being's voice alone is loud enough to kill you.
You’ve been feeling small since the day you left Earth, but never have you felt so insignificant in your life.
When your vision finally corrects itself, you slowly uncover your ears only to find that you're bleeding from them.  That can't be good.  Again, you hobble towards the cliffside to try to communicate with this thing.  It does look a bit apologetic towards you.  Language barrier or not, you were very obviously hurt.
"I'm begging you, don't do that again.  I-  I think I'll die."  You surprise even yourself by how defeated you sound, but then again, you’re powerless.  If this thing wanted to, it could ignore you and burst your eardrums.
"I am sorry.  Is this better?"
It sounds terrifying.  An eerie whisper that’s both obviously quiet and still loud at the same time — like someone whispering through a megaphone, and the audio was playing from every speaker known to man.  However, it doesn’t hurt your ears to listen.
"Yes," you answer weakly, "that's better."  You flop onto the ground, exhausted and relieved.  The being drifts closer and you quickly sit up in alarm.
"Are you alright?"
You shudder at the unsettling sound it makes when it whispers.  "I.. no," you say after assessing the pain in your head and ankle.  Your ears stopped bleeding, but your injuries are painful.  "I'm hurt."
"Did I hurt you?"
The being sounds genuinely concerned for you, and possibly a little upset.  "Well, at first I only twisted my ankle, but when you spoke… Yes, you hurt me."  You find that you’re almost afraid to admit this to the behemoth.  Now it definitely seems upset.  The being's hand reaches out and hovers closer to you, but you flinch and they retreat away slightly.
"You need help, but you are alone."
You honestly think it’s threatening you at first, but you realize that it’s just the being's way of speaking.  It was only making an observation.  "I'm not alone," you correct them, "There's a camp of people like me out beyond this ravine."  The being turns to look behind itself, then back at you.  It gives you a pitying gaze and your stomach drops.
"I think you are alone."
As it said this, the being moved aside to reveal what was left of your camp.  The quakes had all but demolished it.
You refuse to believe this.
"No!  T- Take me across!  That.. that can't be..  Just get me to the other side!"  It cautiously obliges; holding out its hand to the edge of the chasem like a ferry across.  You ride it over the chasm, and it continues to hold you until you’re lowered down onto the ground in front of the camp.  The being seems to remember that you'd been hurt when it let you off before.  This time, it lets you climb off, yourself.
"Please, someone," you beg under your breath, "someone must've survived."  However, the longer you look the more you’re certain: there’s no one left.  There’s barely even a camp left.  The being is right.  You are alone.  On your own on a foreign planet; devoid of life except for this strange ethereal being.  What would possibly become of you?
You could only hope the supply ship would arrive sometime soon.  Without it, you're stranded.  No food, no water, not on this part of the planet, anyway.  Thankfully the atmosphere holds plenty of oxygen, but what does it matter if you have nothing else to survive?  The ship will come.  It has to.  Until then, it's just you and the being.
Alone with the personification of The End itself.

"Dark Beginnings" brings up something that was likely implied before but I never considered, which is that Shadow didn't share Maria's fascination with Earth.
Maria would often tell Shadow about Earth's beauty but he never returned the enthusiasm, he only cared about curing his sister. Besides, the ARK was all he had ever known.
So of course Shadow's disinterest towards Earth turns into hatred after the GUN incident, and his revenge is only stopped thanks to Maria's memory. Even in the present, you could argue Shadow doesn't care for Earth very much.

I was thinking again earlier today about how in the 90s we had Babylon 5, then aughts brought us the Battlestar Galactica reboot, and the 2010s gave us the expanse.
Where's my 2020s space opera?!
Where's my Honor Harrington?!?

#sorry but i totally forgot eisenhorn first name is gregor#and reading your tags i try to think really hard who tf is greg and whats he doing there#wtf greg doing in wh40k
It is one of my PERSONAL MISSIONS to hew THE APPEARANCE OF DIGNITY OR GRANDEUR from any and ALL of TINY ARMY MEN in Warhammer 40k's setting.
Everything that occurs in Abnett's Eisenhorn writing is simply the business of Greg.
Mr. Cain already knows the assignment and he's crushing it without me honestly. It's better that he has a dorky name misunderstood to be 'cool' in his case. it adds to his inner cringe and Tortured Mood

"Gaze into the space between the pixels on the screen There, you’ll see a place between the signal and the screams Feel the oscillation of the crystal in your dreams Just switch off your brain and let it sizzle in the beams"
-----
It took a matter of months to finish this drawing. (/j, it only took. 2 weeks? I think? maybe a little less, but that's an approximate)
It's been a while since I made a digital drawing. So far between April and now I have focused more on traditional drawings with digital coloring. These are (mostly) cool to do,but it's nice to go back to full digital every now and then. This is one of the cases where the original idea and the final result don't differ that much from each other, but there was still a certain evolution from when I conceived the drawing and how I ended up doing it. The Main Thing of the original idea is still here,I just expanded it a little.
Also, the lyrics at the beginning are from "Tune Into The Madness" by The Stupendium and Dan Bull. Great song, and one that I was listening to a lot at the time I was reading the book (and much earlier too). Because, you know. Mix of horror and TV. It made sense. (And yes,I know this song is about a totally different game, and the TV context in both stories are very different (as far as I remember, it's been a while since I played LN2) but I thought the lyrics could match the drawing anyway + it's my chance to recommend peak, so yeah) Listen to the song, it's very good! (The video do contains flashing images and lights tho,so viewer discretions is adviced)
Also, alt. versions without the text, because I thought that without the text it looks good too (+ you can now see Bendy's face)

(which side each logo/message would be on doesn't matter)#it was supposed to be another reference to the book; and it would add more to the rest that happens in the drawing#In the end I ended up forgetting about it. but no problem.#This would require me to create logos and to be honest; I had no idea how to make them. + it would take up time#the final drawing already looks good; there is no need to add these additional things; I think#a neat idea; but in the end; there's no problem with it not being added#bendy fade to black

i think for the shitty scorpion family, their entire dynamic is definitely toxic (heh) but also neither dusk nor bruno is an inherently terrible person? its just that they’re a) horrible together longterm as they are and b) people who should not have had kids.
#last art was definitely more of a dark humor vibe but one thing that i thiiink kinda comes through is that like.#both of them are projecting their own bullshit onto their kids. bruno has an extremely toxic idea of what it means to be an alpha#and its really just a way hes excused his own semi-suicidal tendencies and horrible self worth. but bc castor is like him he tries to make#him the same way#while dusk is incredibly emotionally stunted and was always punished for wanting intimacy. shes not gonna be affectionate with her kids#at least coming IMMEDIATELY out of her bad situation. shes been given zero time to process her trauma and now shes a mom#and shes just not emotionally suited for that#none of this is an excuse for their actions obviously. both castor and cecil suffer for years to come over thid#this#and this is all castor backstory. hes the most important player here no matter what#part of his arc is about unlearning all of this and breaking the cycle#and yknow im well aware the audience is likely gonna hate these guys and thats completely understandable. but their shittiness fascinates me#like. its specific shittiness. its shittiness that couldve been helped if those two werent at the literal worst point of their lives#castor never sees his bio family again but. i always figured that if he met his parents again as an adult. hed be pissed at them ofc#and give em a piece of his mind. but theyd probably done some introspection by then and they could probably somewhat repair their rel#relationship#<- not canon info jsyk but idk…#yeah though. also dw i have other shitty parents that dont get redeemed at all LMAO#i am very anti ‘’you need to forgive blood family no matter what’’. hell castor still doesnt. i am doing au musing rn#starfall lore#<- sure#would anyone be open to more character rambling stuff like this btw…

Man it does suck that ITNL keeps having such long hiatuses. Like it really isn't normal for me to completely disappear for a month or two (or three+) at a time with my writing. I just keep having to deal with all these fucking DEATHS. Wish I wasn't going on so many hiatuses, either.

Obsessed with the dynamic (not romantic, not platonic, but a secret third thing--both and yet neither) between two characters who knew and cared about each deeply years ago when they were both younger and life was much less complicated.
But then, tragic, transformative circumstances separated them. Assuming that this separation was certainly permanent, because how could it not be?
And yet, somehow finding each other again years later, and sometimes they aren't sure whether the reunion that they once longed for with every fiber of their beings is a blessing, a curse, a joke, or a punishment.
Because they've both changed in the intervening years--largely because of the hellish circumstances that caused their separation. They've both changed completely and irrevocably, even if one of them has changed much more noticeably and dramatically than the other to the point of seeming a complete stranger. It is about leaning to see and appreciate all the things that have changed about the other and all the things that have not changed. It's about learning to reconcile beloved, often rose-tinted memories with the complex, yet-equally-compelling reality of the person those memories are about.
#it's the very particular sensation of loving someone who is both recognizably your beloved childhood partner-in-mischief#while also being someone so different (physically; mentally; and/or emotionally) that you can scarcely see their past self in them#and knowing the feeling is mutual#and also knowing that the only person who can truly understand the full extent of the change in you is each other#because their transformation is linked to your own#forged in and through the unique experiences that you shared and the way you were separated#it's the idealized adoration of youthful playmates/pseudo-siblings#transforming into a very different but no less powerful connection in adulthood#that's what really gets me#it's just#*chefs kiss*#estabalena#nahyupollo#jaydick#anyway this post is specifically about estabalena and jaydick#and to a lesser extent apollo/nahyuta#but it doesn't really matter if people tag and respond with other ships#even the narumitsus provided they recognize that not every post was made for them#it goes double for jaydick and estabalena tho since they each have two (2) shared formative and transformative experiences#that few (if any) others can possibly understand#for estabalena; it's the 41 years of suffering in the dark times and the crystal well magic flowing through ones veins#for jaydick; it's the experience of being "Robin' and feeling that the role and all it means was ripped from you too soon#and then it's the experience of dying and your family failing to welcome you back with open arms#because you didn't come back 'right' or quick enough#and that you 'chose' to stay away rather than circumstances forcing the issue#apollo/nahyuta also has the jaydick parallels in terms of bruce and dhurke#it's recognizing that your very human shared father figure failed you in many ways#even as he simultaneously saved you in others#he made you both the best version of yourself while also creating or enabling all of your worst tendencies#just

Apparently I’ve been tagged by @aparticularbandit to do a villain poll so… I guess I’m doing this?
Just gimme a moment to think up some villains I like… although some of them may end up being "Other people don’t think they’re a villain but I do", because who knows what other people think?
Alrighty, let's get to it. I may or may not also limit myself to the five the thing says to do.
I’m also supposed to tag people… but eh, do it if you wanna.

having a tav that's a Lloth-sworn life domain cleric of a noble background who before getting yeeted into the nautiloid was a sacrificial priestess (gn) during one of the cycles of Drow society and had their own altar and temple under their care, means Solune would have the most insane however many minutes they spent interacting with Minthara and I am obsessed about it. As far as I'm conceptualising it, I'm thinking of Lloth as extremely Ungoliant-like. Goddess of hunger, goddess of wanting and consumption, goddess of excess and exuberance, goddess who unmasked the hypocritical gods of starvation, guilt and purity into a society that cherishes a certain kind of clarity about the double standard they impose. For Drow are evil for their wars and their wanting and their taking, but those other people with their other gods kill, warmonger and enslave with no regard and no self-awareness, calling the indignation about receiving scraps from a bunch of silent, unrepentant gods, "guilt and shame". There is violence in denial and her Children will not suffer it.
In the season of Life, they do not sacrifice the unwilling. It is taboo. The only sacrifice that matters is the desire to be devoured and destroyed by the things you love the most.
And Solune sees Minthara and is like fucking finally, someone rational enough to get what I'm going through, that they're losing their mind that their life was taken from them and if they become this other thing, if they transform, if they do not remain Luxe Solune Mizzmyrra, Life Knife of Lloth, they're never going to be able to be reintegrated into that life. They will die away from home, from their temple, from their (first) spouse, from their mother and their siblings and there won't be the day when they too succumb to the knife, when it is time, when the day they no longer feel hunger comes.
And then the parasite gives them an in into Minthara thinking she was raised from the darkness into a FALSE GOD? One thing you do not do is steal from Lady Lloth, and oh my god, there could've been a time, a chance that existed only in ignorance, of Solune lending a hand to Minthara but this to them is unforgivable because Solune is genuinely a good friend to their friends, but if you keep peeking into whatever mindset nobility and religious authority has given them it's like realising your friend is a cesspool of "what the actual and everliving fuck", and when the knife of the morningstar priestess comes down on Minthara it won't be with love but with absolute rage, grief and disgust and I will be thinking about this for evermore. Thanks, I'm not well
#bg3#bg: solune#minthara#i love Solune they're so fun to build with because it's like sometimes organically they will reach the same conclusion as Wyll about sth#(I did NOT expect them to get along but he is their highest approval followed by Lae'zel)#but it's someone who has such an Alien concept of society to literally everyone else in the party. Solune is (fundamentally!!!) land owning#power concentrating nobility and no matter what they do not matter what conclusion their reach this specific brand of social conservativism#and verticality informs them to their very core. however also and cannot be dismissed that bc of how I'm conceptualising Lloth#(sorry but to write a vertical society that just brutalises itself what is this? western europe? fuck off)#Solune is by some contradiction one of the most You Do You people possible. but like. to a weird extreme and a wouldn't thou like to live#deliciously manner. oh you want to be FREE from your past then BE IT. oh you want to find your place in the world? then let that place#consume you and change you forever until the day there is no more than hungers in you and you can truly say you have lived#terrible enabling force but also extreme nurturing capacity#and above all they want that life back and sympathise with those feelings so well#but if there is one thing they cannot stand and that they will maim you on the spot about is heresy against lloth because you were not give#the gift of unmasking the hypocrisy of the gods of the above to waste yourself turning your back against the underdark jewels of Drow citie#there where the darkness does not mean shadows but the glimmering light of jewels. what do you mean some people live unfair lives?#well have they thought living better???#i'm obsessed with Solune and whatever the fuck is wrong with them (it's money. it's having money)

how would you rank the ninja from worst to best based on the ninjago seasons youve seen?
Nya and Wu are the best, everyone else is the same to me
#Conceptually. Loyd; Garmadon; and Kai are interesting.#However later seasons of Loyd and Garmadon are so. They were kinda nuked#Like what do you MEAN Garmadon wasn't capable of having compassion or caring for Loyd (crystal king part 2). Like#Garmadon loved Loyd. That was a pretty important aspect of s1-2#like hello#What#the other ninja feel kinda the same to me for the most part? Especially in dragon rising. Specifically in dragon rising.#All of their one-liners have no distinct character voice. They're interchangeable. I'm going mad#Nin//jago compels me in a ''why is this so bad'' way. Or maybe it's that Sea Nya was so good compared to everything? idk#Like why was there something like that 14ish seasons in a fairly bland show. It boggles me. I'm boggled#I actually didn't watch any other part of Seabound.#In my experience ninja//go is best experienced by watching the finale/payoff#So you can fill in the set-up in your head.#I also watched a sort of edit about nya on youtube. Which gave me more context for her character#I need to stop doing a deep dive into ninj//ago like this doesn't interest me at all. I'm losing my mind. I must ignore my dark curiosity#Of wondering ''is there anything else like sea nya'' and the answer being no#I'm crying at how bad oni Loyd was like truly#Uhhhh Cole's stuff with grief wasn't awful? Or doesn't seem to be?#just like. Serviceable I guess#I'm going to be driven mad by ninja//go this shit is just. I can't even describe how I feel rn#It's so mush. It's hollow. It has nothing I like about stories or animation in it.#And I don't mind crazy lore! I'm a kh fan! But the lack of underlying logic. It makes me feel disoriented#It's like watching natla where every new line feels like it wasn't written with the last in mind#Like I guess if people like the characters????? Like that's it that's all you have#Like THIS is the show people are talking about when they're saying something is just a ''kids show'' you know#Why am I doing this this was a show made to sell merchandise it literally does not matter#I guess since the ninj//ago fandom and the lmk fandom are so closely connected I just see stuff for these characters all the time#ninjago critical#anon#asks

can i be totally real tht post abt moralizing hair tht doesnt even briefly mention the demonization of dark curly hair (more particularly afro-textured) is a Little annoying to me. YES balding has been demonized and treated w disgust. but im sure no-ones being discriminated against for balding at anywhere near the same rate as people with afro-textured hair are for just having their natural hair.

ykw sometimes its better to just cancel the show
Tumblr media
#s/he speaks#yes this is abt killing eve#(no i still havent gotten to the end it just keeps getting worse....... im here for the helene and villaneve scenes only atp)#and specifically the parallels between it and nbc hannibal#im gonna try to not go off too much bc i have enough thought to turn this into a 5 page essay#but basically#1. i feel like i dont even need to say this but if what happened to a show as popular as ke instead happened to a show a male oriented show#esp one with gay main characters. all of the writers would be in witness protection rn the backlash would have been deadly#2. besides the obvious point of misogyny and lesbophobia/hatred? discomfort? disinterest? with f/f relationships#it genuinely would have been better in the long term for ke to have ended on s3#i dont like s3 all that much but even w that being said it would have been 1000x better if it just. ended at the bridge scene#and now w the parallels to hannibal - a good chunk of what keeps hannibal alive even today (besides the great story characters etc etc)#is the fact that it was cancelled with an ambiguous ending. its the perfect recipe for endless fanfics and keeping the audience alive#by keeping them hoping that *maybe* someday there will be more to come no matter how unrealistic the expectation is#meanwhile w killing eve the fact that it is officially over there is no hope#our s4 *is there*. its there and its shit and we just have to live with it because there are no second chances#sure ppl can and do write fanfics abt alt endings and ppl still make edits n whatnot but it feels like the fandom is just dead/dying#bc any and all memory of even the best parts of the show gets tainted by the knowledge of how it ends and of how badly they fumbled it#and even worse when you KNOW it didnt have to be like that. it could have been good. and yet#idk. i said id keep this short but im still rambling i just have a lot of thoughts#i wanna post ke stuff but this is just killing any enthusiasm i had for the show so far#which is so fucking stupid bc i love it even with the shit last season and i cherish it sm its one of my all time favs im just devastated t#and esp as an excath and bi woman. s4 feels like a straight up personal attack on my own bs that i was forced to deal w#i wish women got better media i wish shows focused almost exclusively on women more i wish there were more morally grey/evil mc women#i wish representation of bi/les women existed outside of sanitized desexualized “pure bean” femxfem media#(tumblr deleted half my tags so rewriting) idk i just wish this type of show wasnt so fucking rare and that woman centred media wasnt so#“softened down” ig??? idk how to describe it but it just feels like theres no way to get any dark/gritty female media w/o it having like.#a shit ton of misogynistic violence sexualization and sa. esp when you add f/f pairings in it#like can we be fucking happy. for once. pls#rant over ig
