now I Know I've said this before but what I think is so interesting about that quote about paul waking up from gay dreams is that it isn't the full quote. the full quote goes:

"[...] It’s probably an accident, but also what I like about that is the inner content, that I have no idea what my dreams are about. I’ve no idea, yet they’re every bit as real as sitting here with you. But my interior world, I think it’s not a bad idea to try and tap it."

My view is that these things are there whether you want them or not, in your interior. You don’t call up dreams, they happen, often the exact opposite of what you want. You can be heterosexual and be having a homosexual dream and wake up, and think, 'Shit, am I gay?' I like that you don’t have control over it. But there is some control – it is you dreaming, it is your mind it’s all happening in. In a way my equation would be that my computer is fully loaded by now. Maybe in younger people there’s a little bit of loading to go, but mine’s loaded pretty much, so what I try and do is allow it to print out unbeknown to me. And I’m interested to hear what it’s got in there."

but I just find it interesting bc this quote is often used to point to like. how "stupid"/"clueless" he is about his own sexuality. which I mean I Get on the surface it's a very funny thing for an allegedly straight man to be saying

to me though it's infinitely more fascinating that he says several times over that it is him. he's talking about how dreaming is just as real as reality, how you do still have control in your dreams and it's YOU that came up with those things, and how he's interested in seeing what come out in dreams/songs/paintings that's fully loaded in his brain without conscious thought

there's never even a denial moment here like. he could've easily followed up from that with "'Shit, am I gay?' But then you remember it's just a dream, of course you're not actually gay-" or whatever. instead he just follows it up by saying "nah but it is me dreaming so it's still a reflection of me and my thoughts 🤷‍♂️" which is like. so much more self-aware than people give him credit for.

me remembering that one time i had to write and publish and actual book for a school project so i created a retelling of romeo and juliet except it was a gay love story and both romeo and juliet (<- who i turned into julien) were both doomed by the narrative and were never supposed to fall in love since their families were on opposite sides of a kingdom and it was a literal masterpiece but when i turned it in for the teacher to read (it had a cover and was laminated and bound and all that) she kind of had a mental break down and said "your writing is excellent and exceeded the standards, but it is too inappropriate for someone your age to read" (i didn't know if the 'inappropriate' part she was talking about was me turning it gay or the amount of blood and gore in the book)

calling levi's stoicism a "coping mechanism" is incredibly disingenuous and just a terrible take, it's reducing a huge component of his personality to past trauma when there's no evidence for it, quite the contrary, he's always been shown as someone who's naturally collected. if a character was meant to be "coping" unhealthily via a certain trait, then the author would have showed it. people can suffer through bad conditions and heal, not to mention people's reactions to events differ. His line being "No regrets" is a reflection of that as well.

Tbh, those last two people are right. Content warnings are extremely common and tagging them allows readers to know whether the content is for them or not. Specifying physical characteristics without tagging just makes it feel like a waste of time tbh bc it takes the reader out of the experience. I however will commend you for publishing your work at all. It’s hard work that you’re doing for free and is a vulnerable thing to do bc of potential criticism. I feel that the first person only asked for you to tag your writing bc they realized that this content wasn’t for them. Most people aren’t going to look at your blog before they read. They likely came across your writing based off of tags they follow/look up. As a result, I doubt they checked your blog before reading. The first person isn’t trying to be offensive they’re just saying that they want to know if content isn’t for them.

Okay, since you’re not gonna give up and continue to spam my page I’ll bite and give a full answer instead of blowing you off:

The red hair the reader has is because Makima has red hair…

The yellow eyes the reader has is because Makima has yellow eyes…

So out of 87,000+ words you’re stuck on the 4 times the word “brown” (an ambiguous term because it comes in MANY SHADES) and 2 mini-mentions of a different hair types outside of the ‘pin straight’ that the majority of the world don’t have??? That needs a content warning?????

And to be honest this isn’t even a POC book and I take offense that because if I were to do so I would change A LOT more to showcase the reality of what a POC!Reader would face (things like having the characters be “shocked” or questioning about the reader’s skin/hair/ethnicity or even having to deal with uncomfortable situations that pertain just because of the racial difference)

So the truth as to why I’m so nonchalant, uncaring about the ANONYMOUS posts is because you are literally spamming me because you’re upset about something that’s out of your control.

And for the last time, my pinned post covers all I have to say, so it’s not up to me whether or not people click my profile to see if they’re confused by a passing, ambiguous word in a sea of sentences.
