I got the Rivals Zine and I just wanted to let you know how much I loved your story "My Lindworm"!!

Having been a dresser for my own darling, I got all warm and fuzzy (and a little misty-eyed) when I realized that Loki was a tokusatsu costume. (Especially the details regarding the hotspots on the joints! Augh! 🥺) Though, you had me going for a page or so thinking this was maybe a literal mecha pilot/supervillain/cyborg-esque sci-fi situation.

I think the pride in what both of them do and the care they put into their work and especially the care for Goro shines through. The mutual respect and gentleness ❤ so good!!

Okay, caps lock off, I'm SO happy the story hits well for someone who has basically lived that life! I know there's some details I fudged to make the story flow the way I wanted, but the highlight details ring authentically true for you to feel connected to the scene! :D Shoutout to tokusatsu goddess @superrabbittank for entertaining my questions and helping me build a scenario that celebrates toku performances and the work that goes into them <3

That's also really fun to know the first page or two resembled a literal Loki Is Real And Dangerous AU! :D My other main inspiration is the fairy tale of the Lindworm, where a plucky fairy tale heroine has to strip skins off of a dragon until it becomes a prince, so I love that the presentation mimics that progression. For all intents and purposes, Loki IS a real monster/god/villain when he first appears. Then Akira puts in the work to peel him away, and he's rewarded with his prince~ And then they do that over and over again until the finale of the show. XD

Menelaus - alive!!! (somehow)

Helen - alive! was gonna get killed but she's too hot for that

Achilles - dead

Patroclus - dead

Hector - dead, body absolutely desecrated (you were a dick for that Achilles)

Agamemnon - alive then dead (you were a queen for that Clytemnestra)

Odysseus - blublublublub (jk he gets Penelope and Telemachus back but not before slaughtering most of the nobles of Ithica, there's kind of a whole book on it)

Ajax - dead

Penthesilea - dead

Diomedes - cucked (aphrodite's punishment for fucking up her wrist)

Aeneas - bringing the squad to Italy (there's kind of a whole book on it)

I want. Four to get appreciation. Because

Four gave a ton of unnoticed help when Twilight was injured

The fight with Wild was difficult, and I know we're all concerned about his negative view of the shadow crystal

But Four did something that no one else really thought of to help- He took care of Twi's stuff

From the beginning he told Twilight to not worry about them

So Four took care of pretty much everything but the others (that Sky and Wars handled)

He took care of Epona

Which is so very important- he took care of Twilight's horse. After her arrival at the stable Four followed up on her

And for Epona, a horse so attached to her human, having some company can help so much for reassurance

He took care of Twilight's stuff

He got Twi's shield- his bags and equipment, and organized it into one place

And he was worried. He obviously found the shadow crystal while handling Twi's stuff, but his negative reactions to it were out of concern.

Also- because of his placement in this scene

I'm fairly convinced Four was ready to start cooking before Wild showed up (since he's beside the counter with food supplies). At the very least he had the basket of fruit out for everyone -but he was literally standing with food behind him- he thought of everything

And he did housekeeping!

Wars payed for the inn, so Four took care of the inn

Realistically these boys were probably not too concerned with tidyness. Four got all of Twi's things on one table, and took care of the room they stayed in

Organizing tables and Twi's things, having food supplies ready, and opening the curtains- overall he was the one tidying up the inn

Four helped in a huge way! He took care of Twi's horse (Epona is so important), his equipment and shield and bag, as well as the other rooms in the inn

Four filled in all the little tasks that others didn't think of. He helped in ways that were needed, but not obvious

There's a lot of problems with the shadow crystal and with Wild, and I don't know what's gonna happen in the future

But don't forget this- don't forget that Four was one who stepped up in an almost unnoticeable way

Don't forget that when everyone was barely holding it together, Four visited Twilight's horse and took care of his things

No matter what develops in the future- this amount of care shown is important ya know?

Are there any cats with smoke/shaded fur (that is, fur thats only pigmented at the top and not the base) in bb? I always thought it was an interesting look and dont really see it used as often in designs

If I can draw it LMAO, it's surprisingly difficult to capture in a design when you're like, not a super fantastic coloring god like what others in the fandom can cook up. I'm better with blocky, almost toylike designs rather than cool shading tricks.

I will be making an effort when Echomist is relevant though, she's a character who canonically has whispy shaded fur. I think about her a lot more than such a small character really warrants, but that's the power of a cool design for you. She's a late Crusade/early-to-mid Campaign Era warrior, the mate of Hailstar.

EchoMIst (Emi) is a huge sweetie, I imagine she's considered absolutely gorgeous because of how striking her fur is. Her mateship with Hailstar is as strong and as unbreakable as the thick ice of deepest winter.

I imagine he goes to her a lot for advice, she's calm and merciful in a way that he is absolutely not. Maybe I'll give her a better role in Stormpaw's Demon-- maybe have her be the reason why Hailstar finally does something about Rainflower, who is his deputy in BB.

Also just a recap because it's been a while since I talked about this; Shellheart's not the biodad of Oakpaw and Stormpaw in this AU. He's their adopted dad. I'm going to be doing some stuff VERY differently from canon between Crookedstar's Promise and its BB equivalent, Stormpaw's Demon.

(I just had a thought to actually make her name in Clanmew especially interesting; instead of Echo as in "the echo of a cave," her name is echo as in "the echo of cracking ice." Cats have a much better sense of hearing, so they can hear those strange, otherworldly noises that thick ice makes when it cracks easier than humans can.

Living next to the water and having the river be such a big part of their lives, it would be SUPER fun if they had a dedicated onomatopoeia for it. Maybe even a few for some fun river words. Hmm... I'll put that in the notebook for the next Clanmew Day.)

also while im at it, those who follow my main account probably heard me talking about an ARPG (art role play group) on Deviant Art im in, called Grimsby Grove, with a semi closed evoluting species, and sometimes i have fun making fake designs for arknights characters because the brainrot is just too strong and i get funny ideas with the mechanisms and stuff available in the group

currently the group is closed because of halloween event happening (which is why i am very busy art wise, i have so much on my plate), but the discord is still open and u can hang out there if u wanna, i will pass say hello

Guide to Phantom Blot stories (Part 1)

I've made already this guide, in a google doc (for reading online and legally) but it would be more informative and more visible also less messy to do on my blog. Part 1 would the essential albums, Part 2 some stories i recommend and series.

The most easiest and my recommended order to read phantom blot comics would be this :

Outwits the Phantom Blot/The Phantom Blot's Double Mystery, are the most important ones to read and the most acclaimed from him (and one of the greatest stories of mickey mouse according to coa inducks). They're translated in english and can be watch online with Amazon. [X] [X]

After that, there's the Paul Murry collection, i don't know if i can recommend except for one story who was good (The return of Phantom Blot), but if you want to see for the history of phantom blot you can check out for yourself, even it changes completely that gritty atmosphere from the twos stories, it's available online and in english. [X]

Here's why i've made this post, there's a new collection from topolino around Casty stories, including two books for all the stories around phantom blot written by him. Despite these are italian and not online, i recommend to buy those ones and translate via deepl app/google lens. These are really good stories about modern phantom blot in general, and you get interviews. Hoping to see this collection in english, one day! You can get via panini.it and soon Amazon. [X] [X]

The well acclaimed series Darkenblot written by Casty and concept/art by Lorenzo Pastrovicchio, for this one, you have two choices. (despite you can buy the first one in english. I am hoping we will get to see the rest, one day. )

You can read online all the stories in German via amazon, and it's quite cheap. (the downside was the bland typo and saturated colors.) [X] for uk/usa readers, you need to create another account and change address to a european one (like german country.), with that you can access to all online german duck comics via amazon.

Or you just buy the collection of 3 volumes in italian. (you get extra bonus like concepts + really cool covers.)

And there's the Marco Nucci stories, saddly there's not yet a album regrouping all the stories he made around phantom blot. Except one, who is the Nightmare island, only in italian of course (and quite pricey...). I will probably edit if we do get more of his stories one day. [X]

One of my favourite little things about Apollo is how casual his and the Fates' relationship was.

Now, this isn't to understate how grave the Fates were in any way, as a matter of fact, it's written multiple times about the complex interplay between the Fates and Zeus (Stobaeus even wrote that the Fates were given the seat closest to Zeus' throne so he could better give counsel on all things from their machinations)

Indeed, even Zeus was beholden to them and even though the Fates usually left things up to natural course (and Zeus in his position as Moiragetes - that is, the Leader of Fates could even intercede on these events, even interrupting when a someone was set to die) in a lot of ways, there are many, many things that even Zeus could never interfere with, things that were above even the King of the Heavens. Some really good examples are things like Persephone's Abduction which the Fates ruled as necessary for the propagation of the seasons and his marriages to Themis and Hera.

By all accounts really, the Fates were incredibly stern, incredibly grave deities who presided over law, order, birth and death and even worked with the Furies to punish those who broke the sacred laws!

And then you have Apollo who was also known by the title Moiragetes (In Delphi, there were only two Moirai depicted and in place of the third was Zeus and Apollo Moiragetes according to Pausanias) but who did things like, checks notes, send the Fates to be the midwives of his paramour Evadne when she had to deliver his son alone in secret (by the way, he also sent the actual goddess of childbirth to help. The Fates absolutely did not need to also be there, he was taking every precaution:

and get the Fates drunk so they would agree to save his bestie Admetus' life:

Keep in mind btw - this con Apollo pulled for Admetus was multi-layered and even included getting Heracles to wrestle Thanatos and keep him still so Apollo could proceed to help Admetus cheat Alcestis away from Fates when Admetus expressed regret for making his wife die in his place:

And I cannot stress enough that Apollo faced zero consequences for this nonsense. NONE. The Fates weren't even cordial with other Gods - they're almost never referred to directly, they were often depicted apart from other deities or described as old, ugly and unable to walk (though, generally speaking they were artistically depicted as young maidens!) and apart from comforting Demeter by going to personally explain what happened to Persephone in some versions of the story, they didn't really get humanised the way most of the other gods or spirits did. Usually they're referred to euphemistically, or someone will speak distantly about a prophecy they once heard was designed by the Fates but Apollo? Apollo knew the Fates! He was good friends with the Fates! And I think it's even cooler when you consider that both instances of Apollo showing off his Fate's Favourite privilege have to deal with birth (of Iamus) and death (of Alcestis/Admetus) which were the two points most deeply associated with the Moirai and why there were usually depictions of them as a pair over that of a triad.

(Excerpts sourced from Theoi, Aeschylus' Eumenides, Pindar's Olympian 6 and Statius' Silvae; though just a note, one instance of the Fates' involvement with Apollo is misquoted on Theoi - that is the Fates being present for Apollo's birth, that's actually a misinterpretation of Evadne's birthing of Iamus.)
