Plot:

Troy Saga—Ouroboros Saga: The Elemental Alliance defeats the Serpentine during the last battle of the Serpentine Wars, which takes place in the sacred city of Ouroboros. Instead of imprisoning them in tombs, the Elemental Alliance just slaughters them. Dunno if I’m gonna make Astynax a random serpentine hatchling or someone actually relevant yet. When searching for weapons suitable for defeating possible challenges during the voyage home (as their weapons ended up breaking due to the intensity of the wars), Vinny and Garmadon head over to the Island of the Keepers in search for helpful weaponry (also, the Elementals are exhausted from the wars and need actual weaponry now instead of just their elements, as they kinda overused them during battles). The Islanders warm up to Vinny’s joyous whimsy, while Garmadon is being a bisexual mess traumatized angst lord. Their weapons, however, are made of vengestone, which is poisonous to Elemental Masters, so the Islanders direct them to a cave in the Sea of Sand where ancient weaponry and strange metals allegedly reside. Before leaving, Garmadon swipes some of the vengestone because THE VOICES—he’s also pretty sure it’ll come in handy later. Garmadon begins to allow Vinny’s mindset to settle with his beliefs, so of course Mystaké has to come in and be all like “hey wtf are you doing that’s stupid” and snap him back into his Warlord mindset. Once Garmadon is successfully re-traumatized, Mystaké stops intervening(no hate to Mystaké we love Mystaké she’s a girlboss). 

Cyclops Saga—Serpent Saga: Garmadon brings a small group over to the cave, where they find heaps and heaps of Chronosteel and Ninjagian metals, along with Serpentine knives and other Serpentine weaponry scattered around. Garmadon swipes some of the Chronosteel with part of his gi/tunic/chiton (whatever I decide to make him wear) covering his skin, and slips it into a compartment on his belt or in a pack or something (he finds a way to keep it on his person. Source: trust me bro). The Devourer, who is under the sand, feels the shift in vibrations and rises from her place underground. Upon sensing Garmadon, whose Oni blood caused her insatiable appetite, she enters a frenzied rage. But—and imma sprinkle in a fun little hc here—when the venom sterted corrupting Garmadon’s body, mind, and soul, it also altered his biology, so if he pushes REALLY hard he has VERY SLIGHT serpentine abilities. He uses the fragments of Hypnobrai hypnotics and enters a telepathic link with the Devourer, temporarily talking her down and offering her a bundle of Elemental-infused metals, as it should combat against her Destructive hunger. She accepts, and consumes a bundle of metal wrapped in cloth. Then she turns on him and his crew and tries to eat them all. Garmadon attempts to direct his forces to defeat her, but she quickly gains the upper hand after killing Vinny (I’M SORRY, VINNY—). Garmadon, paralyzed by his grief and shock, kinda just stares at Vinny’s corpse while other soldiers are being consumed by the Great Devourer. The Devourer suddenly collapses, and whoever imma have take Eurylochus’s role snaps Garmadon outta his shock. Garmadon reveals he has been stealing small portions of each Elemental’s power, and infused it into a small piece of Chronosteel, which he fed to the Great Devourer—along with some vengestone, which, mixed with the Elemental powers, is a very potent poison. While the Great Devourer’s out, the others snatch up Serpentine weapons from the ground and carefully cut off four of her fangs without getting any venom on them. As the last fang is yanked out, the Great Devourer lets out an ear-splitting wall of pain, awakening once again. Garmadon yells for his forced to scatter, and they discover wild Serpentine from all different kinds of tribes requesting to know who hurt their deity, but because Garmadon’s a little shit and didn’t tell her his real name earlier, she says his alias “Nobody” (you have no idea how much I wanted to change Nobody to Darmagon). The other Serpents disperse; Garmadon attempts to leave with his crew and the weaponry, but Mystaké tells him to kill the Great Devourer. Despite her venom, Garmadon feels remorse after invading her home and sawing off her fangs, and not only ignores Mystaké, he gives The Great Devourer his name, credit card number, social security number, ip address, area code, address, character profile, etc. with his theater kid ahh speech “I’m the reigning King of Ninjago. I am neither man nor mythical—I am your darkest moment. I am the infamous…GARMADON” or whatever 🙄 because he thought that was a good idea somehow? Then what basically happens is Mystaké flames him for his choice and Garmadon flames her for her shitty social life so she dips out, but in her ominous as shit Oni Warlady way.

That’s the plot so far that’s absolute, almost everything else is ever-changing.

Other Established Lore Points:

The Overlord is Poseidon because the Great Devourer is a vessel of his. Also he’s a petty little bitch—

Garmadon uses the Realm Crystal (as it’s a substitute for the Wind Bag) to take him and his crew over to Mysterium, where they encounter Aspheera.

Why is Aspheera in Mysterium? The real question is, WHY NOT—

I felt like Aspheera just fit well as Circe. If you have any ideas for what could take the place of her nymphs instead of pyroserpent hatchlings (which will look more like regular Serpentine instead of the giant serpents they were in S11) please lemme know!

Aspheera charges up the Realm Crystal so they’re able to travel to the Underworld. Because it’s actually in both the Odyssey and Ninjago lore, I don’t have to figure out which realm to sent them to THANK TOMMY ANDERSON—

In Monster, Garmadon embraces the Devourer’s Venom and his Oni Violet eyes turn Devourer Red.

During Wisdom, Mystaké takes to mentoring Lloyd, who reminds her so painfully intensely of Garmadon she’s actually freaking out a little.

Also, if you’re wondering how Pythor is there despite being Serpentine, I have two possible solutions to this. A.) Some serpentine who surrendered ended up being allowed refuge in Ninjago, and ended up becoming integrated into society. Remember these are the Serpentine WARS, plural. The wars have been going on for a while, so in this case Pythor would be mixed—part Serpentine, part Ninjagian. OR, option B.) Pythor’s just a full on human in this au.

Btw Eurymachus is the suitor who tried to manipulate Odysseus into not killing them “cut off the Serpent’s head” and all that jazz. A decent portion of the suitors in the Odyssey were actually around Telemachus’s age. Between Eurymachus’s manipulative nature and his close age with Telemachus, I decided to make Harumi take his role, as Lloyd is Telemachus in this au. Harumi idolizes Garmadon in this au as well, but she sees his family as weak and manipulated Pythor into being the one to incite the siege on the palace so she wouldn’t take the fall if it failed. She didn’t anticipate that Garmadon did NOT in fact care for her (like bro he hasn’t even MET you he’s been out fighting in WARS for DECADES).

Calypso’s Island might be the Nether-Space if I make the Forbidden Five take on Calypso’s role.

God Games takes place in either the Ethereal Divide or the First Realm. I might change the Source Dragons out to be mostly Oni Warlords as the Olympian Council instead…

Also btw Mystaké was HEAVILY implied to be an Oni Warlord, and I hc she’s Decer, Oni Warlady of Deception. I have many points to support this but this is not the post for that rant.

When Garmadon is released from the Nether-Space, he’s sent to a random point in the Realm of Ninjago, far out from the Island of Ninjago.

He goes through his whole ahh journessey and shit, and when he finally is about to reach Ninjago, the Overlord intervenes like a PETTY LITTLE BITCH—

Mystaké is fuming from where she’s healing (in an Oni Temple in the First Realm)

The FSM is fuming from his place in the Departed Realm

If Wu’s alive at this point, his brother instincts kick in and he gets annoyed without knowing why. If he’s dead, he’s fuming with the FSM in the Departed Realm

The Overlord redirects the currents and sends Garmadon to the Realm of Madness, where he has amassed a whole ass ocean of Dark Matter. He attempts to blackmail Garmadon into entering of his own volition to become a new vessel for the Overlord. When Garmadon refuses, the Overlord snaps and just manipulates the Dark Matter into pulling Garmadon under, Poseidon style (he has a Crystallized Vengestone sword that he uses to hell him maintain control of the Dark Matter as he manipulates it). Garmadon has a few traumatizing cute hallucinations, and the Dark Matter has a strange reaction with the Devourer’s Venom…

Garmadon revives and snatches the Realm Crystal from where it floats beside him. His Oni side goes feral and he breaks the surface of the Dark Matter, wings—that are CANONICALLY APART OF HIS ONI FORM—keeping him in the air as he fights the Overlord. He uses the Realm Crystal ro transport them to the Realm of Ninjago, mid fight. He slams the Overlord into the Dark Island the Ody slammed Poseidon into those rocks. The Overlord’s storm that raged through the Realm of Madness is still raging on the Dark Island. Garmadon picks up the Overlord’s sword and practices a type of weaving that Koko should probably try out on the suitors instead of the shroud (he makes a patchwork of the Overlord’s flesh). The Overlord eventually relents, calling off his storm, and Garmadon works to finish his voyage to return to his kingdom. He faces no obstacles.

Lloyd, who went on a quest to find out what the fuck happened to Garmadon (btw his Telemachy crew was either the Ninja or the Darkley’s kids. I have been roped into a specific hc that Lloyd had friends“acquaintances” at Darkley’s—Gene, Brad, and Sally. You can probably find some of those four being goofballs somewhere in my reblogs), returns home to hear the suitors plotting to kill him and immediately runs to stash all the weapons in the armory without hearing the bit they say about Koko. Garmadon hears, though. Not a single suitor survived the massacre. Lloyd enters in the same dramatic fashion his family always does—theater kid style. Except, in this context he stabs a suitor in partial Oni form (Oni form but his face is his human one with dragon and Oni traits scattered on it). Lloyd is recognized as the Green Ninja when four formidably strong suitors manage to wield a Golden Weapon each. Lloyd then proceeds to let his developing Dragoni traits help him battle against the suitors, Mystaké guiding him through the whole thing. When Lloyd shouts “STOP” before that one suitor encourages the others to take up arms, it’s because he has a vision of what they’re about to attempt. When that one suitor says “got him” they stab through a wing of Lloyd’s, and dislocate it by using it to both push him onto the ground and pull him towards them. Garmadon is actually two seconds from disintegrating the entire landmass of Ninjago from sheer rage. The only thing that stops him is the fact that if he did that, his loved ones would get hurt. He executes them all, Odysseus-style. Lloyd is impressed and slightly worried. Well, he flinched each time a suitor was shot. He kinda just looked like “yeah I’m used to it” when Garmadon said “You plotted to KILL my SON”. Lloyd immediately flips his script when Garmadon says what they planned to do to Koko. His Oni side kinda flares up, and he stands up, clutching his injured wing (which is folded towards him) slightly. Garmadon is far in front of him at this point. All previous sympathy for the suitors leaves Lloyd’s eyes, and when an actively dying suitor (who was shot by Garm) reaches out to Lloyd in a silent plea for help, Lloyd narrows his eyes and crushes the suitor’s hand under his boot. (Unknown to both Garmadons, Lloyd’s eyes flash a familiar red for an instant…) Garmadon finishes off the last of the suitors (some stared in horror at Garmadon, others stared in horror at the terrifying creature that was nothing like the kid they terrorized, his aura emitting pure evil and hatred). Then Lloyd instantly switches back to the socially awkward/sassy WRECK that we know him to be, and fumbles his way through his reunion with his dad, but it works out because Garmadon is equally autistic. Garmadon and Mystaké have a quick little yap sesh, and they (in their own confusing way) agree to try to mend their relationship. Garmadon reunites with Koko, who’s two seconds from throwing him out the window for even SUGGESTING that he’s not who he is—the man she’s waited on for DECADES—AND for implying that she ever fell out of love with him. She successfully outsmarts him (as always) and they reconcile. Noises come from their bedroom that Lloyd wishes he could erase from his mind, instead opting to clean up the palace with Mystaké’s amused guidance. Stuff happens. And everyone is happy…for now…

OH! Also if you’re wondering why Garmadon didn’t just use the Realm Crystal to go to Ninjago instead of going on this whole ass side quest…it’s because he can’t.

Only the First Master (and Lloyd, if he receives training for it—but no one knows this yet) has the ability to control the Realm Crystal. Garmadon is one of the few who can activate it, but he is unable to control its course. Aspheera was a special case, she knew a spell that enabled her to chart a single destination for the crystal. She couldn’t choose Ninjago, as it was too far in distance from Mysterium.

So, this means one of two things. Either A.) the Source Dragons slightly aided him when he used the Realm Crystal against the Overlord, or B.) He just got extremely fucking lucky that the Realm Crystal chose Ninjago.

(Garmadon knows these are the only two ways that his return to Ninjago happened. He doesn’t know if the Sources DID help him or not, but ever since his return, he’s prayed to them every night)

what's that? TGS gem au!

these are honestly a bit old by now (2 month-ish? oh geez) but they have never left my head. If you want to know more, there is a massive yap wall under this cut with some lore and design ideas

First, Jekyll and Hyde's gems!

My first instinct was giving them hearts for gems, since we only ever see one Spinel in Steven Universe.

But I ended up remembering this that I read in the wiki a long time ago, that Spinels would have differently shaped gems based on playing card suits. I was suddenly hit with the fact that we do see both Jekyll and Hyde referred to with card symbolism in Just a Song at Twilight! This was very good for me, because I don't know anything about cards at all.

Jekyll also had a lot more diamonds scattered around his design– both a nod to his gem and his 'rule-following' attitude. Hyde only has the bare minimum to signify his court.

Trying to make a Sapphire is hard, and clothes are even harder, but I ended up making the choice to give Lanyon longer hair. He secretly hates it and reforms with shorter hair the first chance that he gets, but for now he has to keep up appearances

Figuring out Everly was also pretty hard, but that's mostly because she doesn't have that many appearances in the comic. I hope I got her right, even though I'm not entirely sure about making her a quartz.

LORE DUMP TIME!!!

Red Spinel (aka Henry Jekyll) was originally meant to be Pink Diamond's playmate. However, not long after her (his) creation, it became clear she was an off-color. An imperfect gem had no business being so close to a diamond, but due to the rarity and high-cost of spinels she was spared and instead sent as a 'gift' to a successful commander, Star Garnet (aka Lanyon Sir.)

Star Garnet was well-known for shaping up off-color gems into perfect fits for their roles. While this mostly earns the reputation of a fearsome leader, Star Garnet isn't actually cruel to her gems, she simply organizes thought-out training regimens to fit every gem's disabilities. Still, this exact reputation is what led to her being gifted Red Spinel. While she did not have any use for a Spinel seeing as she is war commander, she couldn't exactly refuse a gift so important as a spinel from the diamonds.

One of Star Garnet's gems that stands out the most is certainly her sapphire. Sapphires are aristocratic gems of high-standing, and so, are not under control of gems such as garnets. This sapphire, of course, is a special case. Tall where a sapphire is small, rowdy where a sapphire is calm. Sapphire (Robert Lanyon) has struggled her whole life to have a fraction of the respect a gem of her standing is supposed to have before she simply gave up. If no one is going to take her seriously for her predictions, then she'll give them a real reason.

Disrespecting orders, messing around with 'lower' gems and being generally disrespectful are Sapphire's specialty. She began to take quite a liking to interacting with the other gems in the Station: soldier, technicians... They all looked at her with the adoration befitting for a sapphire, but an adoration she had never seen directed at her before. Interacting with 'lower' gems made her feel a type of control she simply never felt in her life, and it was easy to leave once they got to attached–, or stars forbid–, accidentally tried to fuse with her. The fusions never worked, seeing as only one side felt the connection, but it was enough to prove her influence and leave gems ashamed.

Of course, things started to change with Spinel's arrival.

Seeing as Garnet had no use for a playmate, Spinel mostly walked around their space station like a particularly unnerving jester before meeting Sapphire. The two quickly hit off as Sapphire used Spinel as an excuse to escape most of the time, and Garnet mostly approved in hopes that Spinel might to Sapphire some good. The two gems ended up bonding, finding secret rooms to scurry off to and share experiences.

Spinel wasn't what Sapphire thought a spinel would be like, and Sapphire wasn't what Spinel thought a sapphire would act like. They both talked about their experiences, with Spinel admitting she wasn't particularly good at making people smile or fond of playing, not to mention her extreme curiosity for the works of peridot's (who have grow a bit scared of the red gem that keeps staring at them intensely from the shadows).

Now, while Sapphire didn't know how a spinel was actually supposed to act like, it was clear Spinel did not emerge with any knowledge of etiquette (which Sapphire actually did, another reason for her insecurities. She did everything right, so why was she never enough?) so Sapphire took upon herself to teach what she knows to Spinel, who took to the lessons like a fish in water. That's how the "gentlegem" lessons started.

As their friendship grew, so did Spinel's charm and confidence. She was a natural at being charismatic and while she wasn't a natural playmate, she was very good at boosting gem's morale with speeches and words. This completely erased most of Spinel's past reputation as 'that-one-creepy-gem', except for the peridots who were still a bit... Wary. But that's fine.

While Sapphire was a bit bitter about this (because, really, why was Spinel better at this than her, the gem who was supposed to be born for this role?) she was still floored by a torrent of new feelings as the time passed by. It didn't take long for her to realize what these feelings were. This care, this adoration, it was what those gems she so toyed with in the past felt for her. Spinel completely took away her control and didn't even realize it, and now Sapphire had to live with the consequences. She was unquestionably in love.

Even with all of these confusing feelings and the growing pressure on Sapphire, they still met up in their secret spot every few rotations. It was in one of these meetings that Sapphire took one of those fancy gadgets of recorded music that higher gems had from Pink Diamond's balls. Spinel didn't know how to dance, but Sapphire teached her. They danced, they harmonized, they glowed. Fusion was inevitable, and it felt amazing, but upon realizing what was happening their fusion immediately broke under the torrent of their feelings. Sapphire was the first one to react, and she ran, leaving Spinel dazed and alone.

Spinel tried acting like nothing happened after, and maybe Sapphire would've done so too if it wasn't for what happened next. Star Garnet came with a brand new soldier, a rose quartz (Everly Solanki), specifically to keep Sapphire in line and finally make her do her job. When Sapphire went to talk to Spinel directly and say they couldn't keep up with their arrangement anymore, Spinel was the one to leave first this time, now leaving Sapphire dazed and alone.

While Sapphire's and Rose Quartz's relationship was rocky at first, they ended up growing as friends by the end, relating to each other's struggles and expectations. Meanwhile, Spinel fell to an uneasy depression, greatly worrying her friends. This was about the time Spinel truly let herself indulge in the alchemy and technology she always loved, hoping, praying that she could find a solution that would make her less of a broken gem, a disposable clown. Studying the properties of a gem's, well, gem– Spinel manipulated what is supposed to be a gem's very being, their coding, their brain and sense of self. The injection that she delivery directly to her gems was supposed to separate herself from all that made her defective, it created Hyde instead.

I have more plans for this au– like how Jekyll didn't actually create the society before making Hyde. Star Garnet and her fleet will eventually be put in the Earth's gem war which will result in a part of her gems to mysteriously rebel and steal a ship. These gems, (which included Spinel, Sapphire and Rose) would come to make the Society in the future! Spinel would end up naturally taking a leading role in their escape and he appointed their leader. The plan would be that they settled down in a distant part of Earth's moon and would only visit the planet many years after the war was over. These visits would end up with them learning about things like names and gender so you don't have to call characters by their gems all the time, those are their dead names now! (← silly)

The final acts of Fallen Stars, an AU where Firestar gets the shit kicked out of him and is forced to flee the Clans with Sandstorm and Graystripe. Figured I'd just messily write out the frantic ramblings in my master doc once and for all lol

Very quick overviews ahead, just plot rather than details:

The story would've been split between three key povs and their respective groups: Firestar (graystripe, princess, and sandstorm), Cinderpelt (longtail and tawnypaw), and Cloudtail (brightheart, mistyfoot, stormpaw, and feathertail (stonefur would not live here) and each covering a different plot:

Firestar: The BloodClan plot (obviously).

Cinderpelt: Eyes into TigerClan when ThunderClan is eventually absorbed.

Cloudtail: Escaping TigerClan and our eyes into WindClan.

skipping a lot of the little details, this is just plot overview time

Firestar's Journey (The A Plot)

You can read act 1, the intermission, and act 2 here! I really enjoyed running the blog, but ultimately it was a story that involved way more work than an art and ask blog could get in a timely manner, especially while I was working and doing school.

Anyways, Act 2 ends with Princess being caught up and promising to take them to Vivi, who we learn is Violet - Barley's sister! Violet is essentially the exposition dump character for giving the reader insight into how BloodClan has changed for this AU.

They are not family hating Godless heathens, they are a functioning if rough society within the city that promises cats protection in exchange for payment (material, food, land, etc.). Violet and Barley left because they couldn't pay for the protection and Violet warns them that Firestar and his group will most likely be turned away if they offer nothing in exchange for help.

The group opts to make the journey anyways with Violet leading them to the city to meet Scourge.

Here we introduce more AU and lore elements with Firestar receiving strange cryptic dreams from passed loved ones, warning him of the Sun Star and seeing a massive cat made of dark storm clouds.

They make it to BloodClan and a lot of time is spent establishing BloodClan, their ways of life, some of the key cats in it like Bone, Brick, and Fury, and giving Firestar and co a chance to see life outside of the Clans.

They spend a few days there because Firestar keeps trying to appeal to Scourge through the lens of the Clans, citing honor and glory of battle and yada yada before eventually he realizes he needs to speak to Scourge on his terms.

I want a detail where Princess actually intervenes when Firestar accidentally offends them, showing she's got some knowledge of BloodClan etiquette.

Firestar eventually strikes a deal, promising materials and other goods in exchange for their help.

Scourge and Firestar have bonding time as Firestar starts recognizing how much of himself he had rejected to assimilate. Cue development here yada yada.

Firestar dreams of two brothers locked in battle, one who's face is obscured by storm and the other who's face is blindingly bright.

Cinderpelt's Clan (Plot B)

Cinderpelt is our view into ThunderClan who is reeling after Firestar's thorough thrashing. She and Whitestorm are acting as the defacto leaders with Whitestorm trying to corral the panicked Clan.

She would note how heavy it's been raining since the duel and also establish that ThunderClan is divided into three groups:

Waiting for the return of Firestar: Whitestorm (tentatively), Cinderpelt, Brackenfur, Frostfur, Brightheart Whitestorm hurry up and get your lives squad: Mousefur, Dustpelt, Goldenflower, Thornpaw, Smallear, One-Eye Undecided: Longtail, Bramblepaw, Fernpaw, Ashpaw, Willowpelt, Speckletail, Dappletail "Oh god what did i just witness": Tawnypaw

The Clan is split if the storm is because of Tigerstar killing Firestar or Firestar running from a duel.

Brightheart and Cloudtail have gone missing and Cinderpelt wonders if the two went to find Firestar, Sandstorm, and Graystripe.

During this period, Tigerstar and his lackies have been pressuring them to make the decision to join TigerClan and using their numbers to slowly dwindle ThunderClan territory as they struggle.

This is where I needed to plan more but eventually Whitestorm goes to talk it out with Tigerstar and uuuuhh dies! He gets got. Cinderpelt finds his body with his throat torn and Tigerstar tells a story of a fox, Runningnose wondering if its an omen as Whitestorm died similarly to how Firestar's throat was torn out (weak but you get what I'm going for, right?)

Eventually ThunderClan does get assimilated and we learn that Brightheart and Cloudtail were rounded up and imprisoned along with Mistyfoot, Stonefur, Featherpaw, and Stormfur.

I think this is the weakest plot line as I hadn't fudged the details entirely before starting. which is a very bad idea don't do that.

But essentially ThunderClan is outnumbered and a few members are actually into what Tigestar has to offer, Thornclaw in particular.

Very fuzzy here, just some build up for the execution. Stonefur still dies and Tigerstar calls upon Thornclaw to finish off Cloudtail, Brightheart intervenes but the two are outnumbered as Blackfoot and Darkstripe move to separate them.

Very fuzzy here but I want Brackenfur to intervene and he and Thornclaw die via mutually delivered wounds.

The prisoners escape!

At some point there would be the reveal that Tigerstar and Leopardstar had been working together for a while with the reveal that Leopardstar had poisoned Crookedstar to claim leadership. I had an idea of Brackenpaw being the one to see this in a flashback but too scared to speak up, hence why he wanted to intervene now in guilt for not saying anything before. But eh, weak.

Bramblepaw also grows closer to his father during this, setting up why he returns to train with him in TNP. Tawnypaw is waaaayy to freaked by seeing what her father did to even consider it lol

This whole section is weak and I'm not too attached to it? Too jumbled, needed more time to bake. It reeks of first draft.

The rest of this story would be Cinderpelt and Longtail working to gain allies within the captured Clans of TigerClan and turning the tide from within.

Cloudtail's Escape (Plot C)

The shortest of the stories. The prisoners escape and eventually head to the moors where WindClan takes them in.

We learn that Tallstar is critically wounded and hasn't woken up, Mudclaw has been assuming control along with the help of Onewhisker.

General chill time before wuh-oh the scheduled TigerClan attack.

Prisoners are forced to escape and make their way to the barn where Barley tells them of BloodClan, though says he can't promise they'll help them.

Cloudtail and co go where they eventually meet Sasha, who has escaped the forest as well. She guides them to BloodClan where Cloudtail and Firestar's group reunite.

The Big Battle

So by this time Firestar has established allies with BloodClan, Cinderpelt and Longtail are turning the tides in TigerClan, and Cloudtail's caught Firestar up to speed on what's going on.

They aim for the next gathering to strike.

Firestar has another dream...this one less cryptic.

This would've been set up before, obviously, but Firestar would remember the story told to him by Bluestar of an angry spirit made of storm clouds. The reason that fighting was forbidden was because the spirit was summoned by violence at fourtrees, because in the past it had tried to destroy the Clans there. It was the Sky Star that destroyed the spirit and preserved the Clans for moons to come, now watching them with his eye in the sky to ensure the Clans lived on for generations.

In his dream he meets the massive spirit of storm who slowly shrinks and shrinks until he is face to face with a cat much like him: Gray Wing the Fool, a cat who thought he could stop the growing violence of the Clans and became the Dark Forest itself as punishment.

Firestar realizes the cat he saw stealing the moon that gathering was Gray Wing and the two talk. Firestar sees a cat who wanted to fight for peace and lost tremendously, with a warped legacy that painted him as a villain eternally throughout Clan history.

Gray Wing warns him that if Firestar continues down this path, swerving from the Clan's culture of violence and honor in battle, that the stars will not look kindly on him and his generations again.

Firestar, having gone through The Journey and seeing the impact the raids on the cats of the twolegplace had on BloodClan, the way his nephew was nearly executed, but also the way the Clan cats and BloodClan have begun to get along, already knows his answer.

cue artsy foreshadowing to the trial, to lives of difficulty,

Gray Wing nods, promising him that even if the stars aren't with him, there are the spirits of cats all around him that will aid in his fight for change. Cue the appearance of cats who fought and died to try and change things: Ryewhisker and Cloudberry, Morningstar, the rebels that fought with Gray Wing, yada yada.

Firestar wakes up, feeling heavier than before but knowing he made the right choice.

Battle time.

BloodClan ambushes TigerClan, shifting the battle in their favor immediately. The TigerClan rebels turn against their Clanmates immediately, with Longtail and Cinderpelt spearheading the heel turn.

Firestar and Tigerstar meet in battle once again, the moon clear in the sky. It's an echo of their first battle, but Firestar has changed, stronger and now knowing this isn't a battle he has to face alone.

As Tigerstar rears back to strike, Cloudtail and Brightheart pull him back and Firestar crouches to give Scourge a leaping start, sending the small cat into the air and giving him the opportunity to slice Tigerstar's belly open, killing the scarred tabby in the same spectacular fashion as he did in the books.

Battle aftermath, Firestar reaffirming his deal with Scourge, the Clans returning to their own four homes. Princess is invited to come to ThunderClan but she says no, wishing them well.

Epilogue that shows the Clans getting along more, Firestar still struggles with managing his pain from the severe injuries he sustained at the gathering, but is surrounded by loved ones.

Corny sunset ending here.

Looking over it now, Fallen Stars was half-baked and probably wasn't going to make it off the ground anyways. I remember wishing I had kept it as an open project akin to Better Bones, but what's done is done! It's an AU I'm still very fond of and still like to think on, even if looking at my notes, it's clear I hadn't done the planning to fully commit.

Story wise...it's messy, very messy, hence the note about lack of planning. I think sitting down and doing a few more drafts would've benefited it, you can tell I had a lot of ideas and very little focus. I knew I wanted the story to be about change, I just wanted to do waaaayy too much with many characters and many different plotlines. It was ambitious for a first project but it was a fun one to work on anyways.

I still would love to talk about it, make up ideas and think it over, it's not one I want to trash in the bin just yet. Also, Wait For Me from Hadestown was my go to inspiration song for working on it, so the big theater cheese vibes all make sense.

Do you have an idea of what you're going to write next ?

Yes... And No.

The current plan is to write my dragon fic. I looove dragons, and I've always loved fics that make my favs dragons. Hoarding Humans is a good example of that ;P I really wanna do it myself! I feel a little weird directly using the concept of HH (just the idea of a dragon's hoard being humans! i've been obsessed with it ever since!!)... I know there's a whole Inspired tab thing on ao3 but remember I was brought up in the animation meme community trenches. I've seen some very vile things said to ""copycats"" (and it's usually just somebody who took inspiration off of someone elses art style or a certain part of another persons meme @_@ don't get me STARTED on the ragebait...) and I am not in the proper emotional state to handle that right now QwQ

However that doesn't mean I can't write about dragons. I have some ideas in mind-- I've properly conceptualized my go-to fantasy world for AUs like this. I know who the main cast would generally be (DICE! Kokichi rounds up some of his classmates from in game :P so people like Gonta, K1B0, Miu, Kaede, Rantaro. . . maybe Kirumi? I have lore trust me. I'm cooking.) I know the main premise of the story, and it goes into my own bullshit with dragons, because lord knows I ever follow any actual myths or tales (´ﾟωﾟ｀) (i read wings of fire that's good enough for me!!!)

I am still trying to learn how to draw dragons in a way I like though. Here's my concept for Maki and Shuichi ^^"

Overall the chances of this fic happening after HGH, as of right now, are fairly high. This is what I plan to write once I'm done with HGH.

But please, please please keep in mind that I . . . am absolutely horrible with making promises about my fics. I'm so forgetful I forget to even check my notes to see what I've forgotten. T_T my fics would be a tiny bit better than they are now if I actually kept track of wtf im doing. maybe i should make a checklist.

Point is, I don't know if this is what I'll write once HGH is done. I've done some estimating and while, for once, I do not have a concrete ending in mind, I can guess how long this'll be. I think... it might be around as long as M5? Somewhere around that 130k mark. Again!! I'm not sure!! I need to figure out what I'm gonna be doing for the non-Tsumugi half of the "recovery" arc, so who knows what the word count for this is gonna be T_T. MY POINT!! MY POINT IS THAT!!! It could change. By the time I'm done with HGH, I might write this dragon fic. I might write a differeny fic. Or I'll lose motivation to write anything for a bit. Lord I am yapping so I'll move on

Que transition, with all that being said, I do have Other ideas in mind!! Ones I've been sitting on for a while!

ONE. Saimatsu mansion :D I've mentioned it here and there, but the idea is that Shuichi and Kaede are plopped on an island and have to escape. It's one of those more out there ideas G_G and I haven't really descended into my full levels of insanity yet (wait until i start posting my crossover aus /j), but this would be bordering on it. I have some more minor ideas for this one, but I haven't rlly explored it yet :'3

TWO. remember unexpendable? yeah so i. i really really like crossover aus. almost as much as i like giving them superpowers. I was thinking of an Undertale x DR fic where I drop Shuichi into the underground. Undertale is super special to me,, it got me out of a really dark place. My favorite OC of mine (Montserrat<3) is an Undertale OC! So I think it'd be a lot of fun, especially since Danganronpa is basically the reason I'm like?? actually living now XD I got a job because posting my DR fics helped me overcome enough of my social anxiety to get employed. So!! It'd be nice. i also think shuichi and papyrus would get along do NOT @ me also undyne would scare the shit out of him. Anyways I dunno if this would be another oneshot, considering the, uh. length of the game. and how insane i could rlly go if i went into the neutral /genocide route stuff too. I dunno. It'd be fun :P i also have doodles wait

THREE. I don't know what could and couldn't be used for a plot twist so I'll keep it vague, but basically it's a fic that involves the ENTIRE CAST. A bit of a challenge for myself. Everyone's back! And all of the blackeneds revert to, like... HGH levels of despairs. So it's up to everyone whos still normal to find a way to make them also normal before, uh. things get worse. TV GIRL BLAST 💥 (oh yeah this would be a kaede-centric fic! her pov for the majority. i had a lot of fun writing her during Unexpendable and i miss her </3)

FOUR. i got really into in stars and time so now i'm even more not normal about time loops. so let's put shuichi in another one! but i wanted to shake it up a bit and really let my less canon-reliant, more creative side flow a bit. It'd also be kind of a message to myself about life... WHATEVER Thats not important. What is important is, hey! I've been watching WAY too many Minecraft ARG analysises than what could possibly be considered healthy for my anxiety, so now I want to sic a bunch of them on Shuichi. this things unfinished because i only have very vague ideas for a few of the loops... but the overarching idea is that even the smallest (but impactful!) change in a choice can lead to an entirely different loop, with an entirely different entity. and during all of the loops, shuichi gets little bits and pieces to the bigger picture, which will break him out of the loops. idk this seems like a big and tiring project so this is more of a "maybe" than the others but i still think it's cool :')

FIVE. ok this one isn't danganronpa... remember when I said I was super into In Stars and Time? I wanted to write an ISAT fic. Siffrin and Bonnie are so so special to me and i wanted to indulge in that. I haven't rlly been writing in my oneshots though so I don't really have a grip on writing anyone from ISAT,, so. :( i have to spiral into full insanity privately before i can determine what is safe to show the internet /hj

And that is all I can think of off the top of my head. :P These ideas have been brewing for quite a bit, and ones that have actual ideas to them. I dunno which one I'll write first... or even if I'll write them. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Who knows? Maybe I'll break my rules about writing two fics at a time. Just give me time ... and please be patient. I can only write so fast ＼(_ _)

Ok so we follow the Buttermilk Daydreams storyline, with Artic and the Onceler meeting on the road, discovering the valley together, and Artic inventing mechanical wings!

Except this time thneeds do get off the ground like in the movie. The Onceler calls his family over and is excited to start business, but Artic has an increasingly bad feeling about this.

They said they weren’t gonna cut down trees. They made a deal, they had a compromise. And now that that’s gone, what’s stopping things from getting out of control?

The Onceler feels personally offended, betrayed even! She stuck around and believed in him this whole time, only for her to get cold feet the second he gets a once-in-a-lifetime chance at success? I mean something good finally happens to me, and she just has to come along and rain on my parade! What's her problem!

So the two have a falling out as the Onceler pursues growth and profit while Artic was content to stay as they were. Realizing he’s too far gone, she tries to destroy everything related to the wings and leaves. But he manages to hold onto old plans or steal his own wings back or something like that.

Timeskip to Thneedville, based on EPCOT and with a steampunk / industrial revolution aesthetic. The company controls basically everything, so you have no choice but to work for them.

Not to mention the way new and experimental appliances are constantly being installed and replaced in homes, just like in EPCOT. And there's a system similar to WEDCOMM (timestamp at 19:59 if the link doesn't work) where information is super centralized.

The Onceler’s office is at the very top of a super tall tower in the center of the city, with big open windows for birds (workers who use wings, I’ll get to that later) to fly in and make deliveries, give reports, etc.

OOH and there are definitely whisper-ma-phones set up all throughout the factory

I talk a lot about the acoustics of the factory with its massively high ceilings, but just imagine what it must sound like in there! The rumbling and hissing and clunking ka-thunks of pipes and gears! The whirring of fabric being spun!

The Onceler initially worked right alongside his employees, viewing the company as one big family. Making friendly chatter as the clickety clack of knitting needles filled the air.

When asked why he did this, well, why wouldn’t he? How was he supposed to run a business without knowing the people who did such hard work for him, much less sit idly by?

And besides, he was the one who invented this craft! He knows how to do things right around here.

That is, until one fateful day. The sun was setting, and most people had already left for the night. He could’ve sworn he fixed that finicky mess of a machine, or maybe tiredness had caught up to him.

But it only takes the smallest slip-up to get your arms caught in the gears and-

The Onceler shudders at the thought, slowly slipping off a glove to examine the scarred grooves and lines etched into his skin like wrought iron. Remembering the way his own shrieks and the sound of jamming gears reverberated through the room…....

No one spoke of that day. He made sure of it.

He became a lot more distant since then. A wakeup call that gradually changed the friendly guy who you’d almost forget was your boss, into Mister Onceler.

And the fact that he’s experienced firsthand how dangerous this place can be, yet it never gets resolved. He was able to save his own skin by taking a step back, but his workers are still at risk because he’d rather keep things as they are than pay for the costs it would take to redesign, rebuild, and reinstall everything.

Some jobs involve the use of wings, which he had stolen repurposed and refined for company use, using a more standardized base. Different types of wings have a different shape and color, making them easily identifiable!

Pigeons: They handle mail and deliveries throughout the city! Sometimes tasked to work with PR and give urgent news before the press can get to it. If you know where to look, it's not uncommon to see them hanging around large events just in case things go south.

Falcons: Tracking the weather, optimizing flight routes, and dealing with birdwatchers (explained later) to ensure pigeons have a safe trip. Sometimes they'll be the ones to deliver important mail / info, since falcon wings are built for speed.

Canaries: Coming from the phrase “canary in a coalmine”, and named for their bright yellow wings (like how construction workers have those orange vests with shiny stripes), these are the repairmen of Thneed Inc. Sometimes tasked with repairing malfunctioning machinery in midair, and rescuing anyone that’s gotten caught.

Vultures: Garbage and waste disposal, smogulous smoke and schloppity schlopp. It’s not common, but if anyone dies on the job, they’re the ones that discreetly dispose of the body. Black wings / hat / gloves, the latter of which has red palms.

Woodpeckers: Sporting spotted wings, they survey the valley and plan out axe-hacker routes through the steep terrain. They also evaluate the quality of truffula wood, checking for bugs and mold.

Pigeons and falcons used to be the same thing, as evidenced by how closely they work together, but over time they split into more specialized roles! I imagine during that transitional period, they were referred to as carrier pigeons and homing pigeons.

Each set of wings has its own ID number! A lot of bird-based terminology gets used and I love it so much it's so fun :D

There are big air vents set up all throughout the city for ease of flight, and there are little checkpoint towers for breaks during long trips. I imagine they've got an icebox with snacks and water in there, plus stuff like a medkit and a small radio.

Birdwatchers are thieves who track and intercept flights, often positioned near these air vents, using nets and such to down the bird and steal whatever they’re carrying / get information out of them.

Falcons have these talon-like attachments to their boots (inspired by Guardians of Ga'Hoole battle claws), for everything from added traction to divebombing a net to cut it open.

And it has a latch to pull the claws up if you're not using them, that way they don't make noise or scrape against the ground! The latch is on the inside of the boot (like the left side of the right boot, yknow the part where it curves in a little) so you can push it down with your other foot!

The Mister Once-ler in Chief himself has these fancy custom-fitted peacock wings that are dark green and red w/ gold accents, plus a detachable long peacock train that can fwoosh out and everything!

They're mostly for show, but I imagine there being a secret escape route in the office for when things get too heated and he needs to dip out fast, gliding down a spiral stairwell.

Also he definitely has goggles on the brim of his hat steampunk style. AND the tuft on his lapel is actually a hidden microphone, based on this post!!

As for Artic's design, I picture her in something like this!

Artic’s been living in an apartment working the assembly line, gone without her wings for at least a year or two. Sometimes her back feels… Not necessarily itchy? Just this vague sense of discomfort, like she can almost feel exactly where her wings would sit on her back.

She has a habit of rolling and flexing her shoulders, and sometimes she finds herself making room for them even when they’re not there.

Her coworkers are human versions of old D&D OCs, as a way to give them new life and a fun little reference ouo!

Kreva isn't a bird but she's super strong, Faye's in the confneectionery department, Averran is part of Thneed Inc's legal team, Veil is a vulture, and Kav is a newly appointed canary! The latter being a reference to how Kav was originally an aasimar with glowy yellow wings ouo

(Also the last canary, the one that Kav is replacing? Yeah, they're kinda dead-)

There's this scene where Kav is passing through and Artic stops her to inspect her wings and boy she is FUMING at what that rat bastard did to HER invention-

The frames are too standardized, the sensors feel dulled, the stitching is- Ok well the stitching is phenomenal and the fabric is sturdy. BUT LOOK AT HOW THEY MASSACRED HER CHILD

She also has a habit of giving others flight tips and stuff like how to adjust the straps properly, which makes people wonder how on earth she knows all this

One time they’re all drinking and hanging out, and Artic is staring longingly at a photo of the Onceler she keeps in a hidden pocket in her hat. The old Onceler. Her Onceler.

The others notice and they’re like “you knew the boss??????” and she rambles on about their time together and all the silly memories before everything went to shit. Artic voice I miss my friend Tails. I miss him a lot. I’ll be back

There's this scene of her dancing, using a pipe like a mic on a stand and having it roll off the inside of her wing like she’s dipping someone into a kiss- It’s not easy to make the wing curl in like that, but she describes it as like a flick of the wrist ouo

The second the Onceler realizes where she is and that she’s been working for him, he immediately appoints her as a falcon. Because his prideful ass will never admit it, but she knows how the wings work better than anyone.

She could help with making the wings more efficient, and figuring out how different flight routes play to the strengths of different wings shapes. And it's an excuse to see her again-

They argue often, over accusations of delivery routes not being fast enough, poor air quality and how pollution is affecting the weather, safety violations, etc.

I’m picturing this scene where Artic accuses him of not taking this seriously, of not grasping the very real danger people are in because he doesn’t know what it’s like to be within an inch of your life.

And after she storms out, he glances at his arm. His expression is unreadable as he pulls off the green fabric to see what became of it.

These two know each other better than anyone else. Unfortunately, they hate each other

They’re basically bitter exes even though they never actually dated akfjsdf- I’m picturing her chewing him out about something but he’s clearly not listening, and he blows smoke in her face to interrupt her

He’s such a RAT HE’S A RATTT

And you already KNOW they call each other snarky petnames- The Onceler calling Artic firecracker is sooooooooo <3

There's this scene where she's in his office as the sun sinks towards the horizon. A regular occurrence by now; they always seem to be swapping quips and trying to get on each other's nerves, but lately it's been more quiet.

He's standing by the window, she's sitting on his desk, and there's something about the way her hair shines in the golden light filling the room that's just......... Beautiful. I mean. It's getting late, you should probably go.

Eventually the two of them get into a scuffle which turns into a hate makeout sesh, but they find out that they've been holding onto old photos of each other and they're both so sentimental and aaauauauu...... You were right. I do need you.

They finally admit to how much they've missed each other. How much they love each other. And how sick and tired they are of pretending they don't care. Holding onto each other like it's all they have.

And the Onceler just bursts into tears. God, he's so sorry. For everything. For all the damage he's done and for everything he's gotten far too deep into. Was any of this worth it? If things keep going this way the whole valley could be dead. I can't do this alone, just- Just hold me and don't let go. Please.

Artic's there for him when no one else was, just like before. It's always been her. She reassures him that they can fix this, that everything's gonna be ok, but the Onceler asks how she's so sure.

We'll figure something out. We always do.

AAAUGH and this scene of them flying together- The Onceler hasn't flown in a while so he's a bit rusty, but it isn't long until they're soaring over the city below and the way they twirl under the moonlight makes it look like they're dancing at the top of the world.

It's just a much-needed breath of fresh air. The softness of familiar company, without having to hide it under layers of sarcasm. Just letting themselves love each other.

The transition from petname (derogatory) to petname (affectionate) hhhhh- AND THEM USING THEIR OLD NICKNAMES FOR EACH OTHER. Artic calling him Ollie again.........

Also I have the mental image of Artic sitting on the Onceler’s arm and resting her chin on her hands on top of his head, kinda like this and I think it’s funny. Get perched on idiot

But something that people haven’t really mentioned about the barren state of the valley is how that would make way for more extreme weather, like dust devils and flooding. (Note: The initial inspo for this was the end of the Biggering Storyboard, where to me it looks like there are dust devils in the distance ouo)

This HUGE flood happens that the city is not at all prepared for, so everybody works together to set up sandbags, evacuate people, get resources, and just minimize as much damage as possible.

Part of the factory gets busted up and fuckign explodes and Artic goes in to save someone (insert reference to the Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole fire scene), but in doing so her wings catch on fire-

There’s this BANGER scene in my head of Artic spinning way up into the sky, red flames against the dark blue-greens of the sky, before falling like a shooting star and plummeting into the muddy water flooding the streets.

The Onceler drags her outta there but her wings don’t work anymore (and they were prob a huge hazard in a storm like this anyways since they’re made of metal), so she takes them off and continues the work on foot.

Eventually the storm passes, pale yellow light shining through smoggy blue-gray clouds. Everything is silent save for the idle dripping of water.

The catastrophe is over, and by this point everyone realizes that all this would never have happened if it weren’t for the damage the Onceler has done to the environment, so they’re all after his ass lmao-

BUT the last tree never got cut down, so perhaps there’s still hope. Efforts are made to rebuild everything that got damaged, and regrow everything that was lost. Woodpeckers are now tasked with tracking the valley's regrowth, checking on all the little saplings.

Him singing, hands gliding over the strings of his old guitar. The one that started it all. Feeling a fluttering in his chest as Artic joins in, the way their voices complement each other perfectly. Oh, how he missed her......

The song ends with one final strum, easing into a peaceful silence as they sit there in the shade. Listening to the birds chirping in the distance and the gentle rustling of untouched tufts in the breeze.

The Onceler leans back with his eyes closed, taking a deep breath of fresh air. A hand brushes over his and he instinctively holds it with a light squeeze. He turns to see Artic smiling at him with such a softness in her eyes, sweet as a memory. We made it.

There is hope. And despite everything that's happened, despite everything we've been through, it's gonna be alright after all <3

So What: Their falling out from the Onceler's perspective. Storming off in a huff, determined to prove Artic wrong. To prove everyone wrong! He doesn't need her anyways! He's gonna do great, actually, and if she doesn't wanna be on the right side of progress then that's her own darn fault!

Fame < Infamy: This song represents that middle point between the gray and the green, so to speak. When things are just getting started and he's getting his first taste of things going his way. How he prioritizes his sprouting business over his relationships, reveling in the success and setting his sights ever higher. "The kid was alright, but it went to his head"

Biggering: The classic, the legend, the song which needs no introduction :D

Donatello's personality was the hardest for me to really swap, despite the answer seeming very obvious in hindsight.

Donatello in the SG universe still retains his intelligence, but he abuses it for selfish memes and relies on malicious incompetence in order to get his brothers and underlings to do stuff for him. Not because he's lazy or anything, but because he enjoys making people do things for him.

He likes the act of manipulation a lot more than what he gets out of it, if the result is lackluster he fixes it up a bit and takes all the credit, or he uses it to throw someone under the bus.

His biggest flaw is his massive ego, which he feeds by taking advantage of others and getting praised for it.

He's been eyeballing these cool new things called "the brainworms" teehee.. He hopes he can use one on someone. For Science(tm) (ie his own enjoyment)

Bro is... not a good guy, and I'd imagine he'd be very easy to hate if I were to ever write and publish a fic for this AU. He's an ego-centric bully that manipulates and holds his intelligence over his brothers' heads (primarily SG Leo and Raph being his victims, the latter more than the forward.) He gets worse before he gets better, though, I ain't giving this kid a bad ending. It takes a while to get there, though. :^[

He does not have a crush on April, he never got the chance to meet April face-to-face before the main story. The Kraang and Utrom have switched places in this AU as well, so April's story with them changes drastically as a result.

OG Donnie definitely butts heads with his counterpart the *most* out of everyone. The second the OGs and SGs properly meet, it is ON SIGHT between those two... which is part of the reason why it takes so long for SG Donnke to even consider switching sides. The brainwashing and the personality he has are the main factors, but the counterpart beef deffo ain't helping. 💀

The ages haven't been swapped around a lot, with the exception of SG Michelangelo's. SG Mikey spent a few years in Dimension X for a mission once Splinter discovered the time difference, so now Mikey is a few years older than the rest of his brothers. However, the social hierarchy goes Mikey -> Donnie -> with Leo and Raph tied at the bottom. Even if Donnie was still older than Mikey, he would still be in second place. Fun factoid. Lol.

hi ❤ it's not quite a full month since my last post on this blog so I'm considering that a win!

Anyway, I have been working on my Morgan time-traveling AU again and it's going really really well! I am having so much fun and I love yapping about it with my friends on discord. (you guys are great hypemen and I am so glad I get to bounce ideas off of you <3)

For a while after Searcher I wasn't sure if this AU was dead or not considering the lore & magic rules we learned that basically uhhh made the entire scenario completely impossible. 😅 but I really love this story and wanted to find a way to write it without COMPLETELY ignoring canon, so I modified the canon rules a bit and I think it works! (And the events of Searcher have helped me figure out where/how I want to end this fic, which is also great! It was very 🤷🏻 before, lol)

Also the way I changed the rules means my dear beloved bosun gets to suffer so much more in this version of the story, and I have been having a lot of fun with that. 🥰

I have made huge progress on my outline recently — I'm up to chapter 21, and I think the plot has... let's say seven arcs. seven, seven plotty arcs! Chapter 21 is the start of the fourth arc, which means I am almost halfway done???*

*I doubt these arcs will all be the same length when fully written, so this is only a rough estimate

It is both exciting and a little scary, because once the outline is done I'll be drafting it for real, and then I'll be badgering a couple of my friends to beta for me, and then I'll be publishing it on ao3... and I've been toying with this idea for MONTHS now, ever since I saw on the wiki that Morgan probably got zapped to New York in TGOA.

An overdue blog about my fic-writing process with The Immortal Son (and a little about Two Birds)

CW for brief mentions of suicide, bullying, sexual assault, childhood trauma, and emotional incest

Okay so here's some behind the scenes things about my writing process with The Immortal Son. If you read the first fic that I wrote for this AU series, Two Birds, you should know that I sat doing research for that fic for months, then I basically just blacked out and wrote it. I might eventually rewrite some of it, to be honest, so that it connects better with its prequel. But I haven't gotten there yet, and I'm too scared to get there right now.

My original thinking with Two Birds was that I wanted it to be Mitsuru-focused. I actually wanted to do it from his perspective originally, but then I realized he'd hardly know anything about his own situation, so I changed the narrator to Kuwana. This was more of a technical change than emotional. Kuwana is, and always will be for me, an unreliable narrator. But when writing from his perspective, I really wanted to show the reader how much Kuwana struggles with understanding Mitsuru - how he's in his own head too much, and how he doesn't realize exactly how unfit he is to take care of Mitsuru, and how none of that can matter, because no one else will do it. Despite his second chance - or perhaps because of it! - Kuwana is selfish and resented.

I did manage to unearth some of my notes while writing Two Birds. While a lot has changed, the general basis for Kuwana and Mitsuru has always been what I originally wrote as a note to myself, here:

I focused a lot on Mitsuru's physicality. It ended up being that most of my time for this fic was spent doing research about long comas. While that was all fine and good, a lot of what I researched ended up not even being used or mentioned. Both Two Birds and The Immortal Son are focused on emotion - more than realism or accuracy. In fact, a decent amount of the "lore" in either fic is completely made up, and whatever I make up is written somewhere to reference later. Then, I just write it whenever it feels relevant to the narrative, and hope I'm not writing myself into an incomprehensible hole - because, while a lot of it is based on inference, some of it isn't. I wanted to write as if what I had made up was obvious, so I had to try and get out of my own head while reading it over. That was hard.

Anyways, here's some Google Maps screenshots I had taken for Two Birds to reference in my fic. This was back when I wanted them to live in Matsuyama, Ehime - not Masaki - but the "visual" "idea" is the same. When I was drafting Two Birds, Reiko was in a fake prison on an island. I had this vision of them taking a boat to go and see her, but I scrapped it - mostly because I felt like Reiko would not go to a maximum security prison like that. I mean come on, she's not Saejima. She only killed one person, geez!

I liked the mix of rice fields and the view of the sea. I've never been to Masaki. I've never even been to the Kyushu area. If I had to do it all over again, I'd put them in Fukushima. The descriptive visuals about Masaki in Two Birds are actually inspired by where I live.

Of course, Two Birds ended up not really being Mitsuru-focused at all, and that's when I decided to write The Immortal Son. Even though Kuwana is still the narrator, he is sort of a backseat driver to a near-fatal car crash he caused by grabbing the driver's wheel... uh, so to speak. He just watches everything happen. It's not until Two Birds that he feels fit to play his role.

"Two Birds" was the working title for what ended up actually being Two Birds because I didn't have any other ideas. I had written the scene where Kuwana remembers when he first moved to Masaki, and so I just pulled "two birds" from that actual paragraph. I did this before once with a porno I mean sickfic I wrote - calling it "Toothpaste" when toothpaste was never actually involved at all. A while ago I had this habit of throwing darts at one-shots I wrote and titling it whatever word I landed on. For the same reason, when I had drafted the first interaction between Kuwana and Jiro; I titled it "Orange Chicken".

I can't help but love a surprise title drop.

But the title for The Immortal Son just flew into my head, and suddenly it felt really corny to title drop. I debated on calling it "The Immortal Sun" because it takes place in the summer and Kuwana can feeeeeel the heat on his back (metaphorically) but since it ended up being entirely about Mitsuru, the immortal son, I changed it.

The Immortal Son is written to play out pretty soon after the events of Lost Judgement. While Kusumoto Reiko is in her holding cell, she tells Kuwana to keep an eye on Mitsuru. From there, Kuwana meets Mitsuru's father (Jiro, also Reiko's ex-husband) and uncovers a few secrets about her past. For reasons (then) unknown to Kuwana, Reiko confesses to killing Kawai on her own - leading him to take care of Mitsuru and attempt to eliminate her hospital debt.

I gave Kuwana a fading flashback when he went to visit Reiko in prison for the first time. It later informs Kuwana's decision to point fingers at Reiko when her lawyer discovers a flaw in her confession. This isn't necessarily right or wrong of him, but Kuwana's own memory of her in prison forces him to believe she wants to be punished - that they are alike in the desire to atone.

I thought a lot about Reiko in The Immortal Son. My first impression of her when playing Lost Judgement was actually a bit sad. That introduction scene where she is sitting in Mitsuru's dark, wide, and empty hospital room by herself - and knowing she had done the same thing every day for the past thirteen years - seemed really lonely, so I drew bits and pieces of her and Mitsuru's relationship from that.

There were two themes - "preservation" and "violence".

A long time ago, I made a connection between Kawai's frozen body and Mitsuru's "frozen" body - I still can't explain it well enough to make sense.

In Lost Judgement, Kuwana says they killed Kawai on the anniversary of Mitsuru's suicide attempt. Later, he describes Mitsuru as a vegetable that is "as good as dead." So, my best way to explain it is that time stopped for both of them. Kawai is literally frozen from the moment his heart stopped beating, and Mitsuru doesn't change at all in thirteen years. That's where "preservation" came to mind, and how it intertwined with the violence of the original story.

Because Mitsuru is preserved, his pain is preserved as well. The characters see this through the long-term effects of his trauma and suicide attempt on his body, and how Mitsuru eventually grows into himself. But his mind and body are childish, because that's where he stopped at. A dead child never grows into adulthood.

There is an instance when Kuwana and Jiro come into his hospital room, and I mention Mitsuru being "gelded" by both his mother and the natural process of time.

Can I sound crazy for a second? The reason why wrote that line was because I was kinda thinking of Mitsuru as a castrato, like, a choir boy who is castrated in order to preserve his voice, and grows sort of strangely or unnaturally as a result? That's what Mitsuru looks like to me. A small version of that - a thirty year old who still looks seventeen but not quite. Like a less jarring version of Ben Platt in Dear Evan Hanson, lol.

Anyways, I thought Mitsuru's preservation would be an act of violence, too, because Reiko (both in order to protect Mitsuru and her own feelings) wants to turn back time and keep Mitsuru as a helpless child. In Two Birds, she tells Kuwana that she used to pretend Mitsuru had turned invisible as a child, and that she wished he'd cry in her lap again. In The Immortal Son, even Jiro eventually relents to this as well, telling Kuwana that he wished Mitsuru could be the way he used to.

The violence of preservation, in this case, is Reiko's severe attachment to Mitsuru. In his childhood, it made him understand her in ways he should not have - as stated by Jiro. I thought that there had to be other factors in Mitsuru's suicide, and this is what I came up with. That Reiko was too pressing - Mitsuru, too darling - and that he was his father's emotional replacement.

Yeah, so what if I made up the thing about Reiko's enmeshment with Mitsuru? It was always lingering in the back of my mind anyways. Enmeshment is better known as "emotional incest" - I hate that word, even though that's about as accurate as wording gets. The sad and lonely image of a woman overly dedicated to her son; how could I not?

Mitsuru is not only surrouuuuuunded by violence, but he's also - tragically - a tool for it, right? Kawai is killed out of revenge, and seven other people die because of Kuwana's quest for vigilantism in his name - mentioning Mitsuru ahead of everyone else he sought vengeance for. Mitsuru is hardly able to protect himself; he can only watch what happens to him. I wanted to make a connection between this and what Jiro said Reiko did to him - that Mitsuru is singled out and violated by devotion.

When Kuwana takes him on a stroll away from his father, Mitsuru kills a cicada.

I used the word "beheaded" here - not crushed or squashed - to evoke a "feeling of execution". It's Kuwana who runs Mitsuru over that cicada, and it's Kuwana who used Mitsuru to justify violence. So, I wanted to point out that Mitsuru is welded passively in Kuwana's instigation of violence.

Mitsuru, too, has to witness the way everyone talks about his mother, and what she had done for his sake. In that, he searches for her kindness - not wanting to remember how sore her arms felt in her constricting motherhood.

But he is denied by reality. And that reality comes in the form of his father - albeit, definitely not the most objective person in all of this.

Jiro is a character I made for the sake of The Immortal Son, but he's mentioned very briefly as "Mr. Kusumoto" in Two Birds.

There are three original characters I wrote for The Immortal Son: Jiro Kusumoto (Reiko's ex-husband), Kondo Daichi (Reiko's celebrity lawyer) and Naganuma Mimori (Mitsuru's young nurse). I hadn't really mapped out their personalities, they sort of just came and went as I wrote. But I think it's safe to say Jiro was definitely Mitsuru's co-star in this.

Kondo Daichi (or Daiichi, 第一, a pun meaning "number one") was originally meant to be a timid lawyer appointed by the court, but then he sort of turned into an audience self-insert. I thought a lot about the logistics of Kuwana taking care of Mitsuru, and Reiko taking the sole blame for Kawai's murder, and I wondered what that meant Kuwana's response would be. The result was Kondo - a character meant to fully confront Kuwana with the reality of his situation, and his decision to take care of Mitsuru. I wanted to show that, when given the opportunity to confess and face the consequences, Kuwana would cowardly turn away.

Naganuma Mimori is a bit like Mitsuru. Because of that, Jiro also views her as something to compete with Kuwana. Kuwana is kind to her but he sees her as a child. More importantly, though, I used Naganuma as a mark for gender. Kuwana tells Jiro he doesn't have children, and Jiro asks if he'd prefer a girl. Later, when childish Naganuma cries on Kuwana's shoulder, Jiro jokes that he probably couldn't handle a little girl.

Compared with Naganuma, I thought that Kuwana might feel emasculated by his inadequacy to take care of Mitsuru properly. Even so, for my own reasons, I wanted Kuwana to seem girlish in The Immortal Son. I just feel like he's a bit feminine anyways. I wanted him to be treated and scolded the way an inadequate or indecent woman would be. All of that scolding comes from Jiro, who respects him otherwise.

I thought the easy way out would be to make Jiro abusive and mean-spirited and probably an alcoholic. Honestly, the first time I wrote him (which was even before I started thinking about The Immortal Son!) he was sort of... that. But then I realized that's a little boring. Sure, I wanted Jiro to be a little mean, but I mostly just wanted him to be frustrated and honest. I wanted him to be someone who thinks he's only ever done his best. In that way, I wanted him to be someone like Kuwana.

Jiro cannot see himself in Mitsuru, and he blames it on Reiko's influence and enmeshment towards him. At this point - while feeling vindicated - he is mostly just sad. Sad because he was never there for Mitsuru, and sad that he still can't be. He can't stand being around his own son, and that's why he's able to relinquish him to Kuwana's care. Ironically, Kuwana can see much of Jiro in Mitsuru, only because Jiro refuses to see weakness in himself.

I never wanted Two Birds to end on a sad note, though I guess The Immortal Son ended up seeming that way. Or, at least there is some recognition that Mitsuru will never be able to return to himself. Kuwana, of course, can see this because he's the same way. It's not such a bad thing, I think, which is why I sort of hesitate to call it sad - because in my head I know that The Immortal Son is more like "the foundation of trauma" and Two Birds is like "a layer of hope".

That's what my goal was, at least.

Basically, all of this meaty symbolism came from the type of story I wanted to write, which is ultimately about love and normal people in the real world with a hard past. I wanted to expand on Mitsuru and Reiko a lot simply because I liked them. So that's what I did.

Both Two Birds and The Immortal Son came from a long road of dissatisfaction with the original story. I mostly wanted more from the Kusumotos. I thought Kuwana's dedication to them was interesting, too, and I wondered what Kuwana would do with himself after his purpose in life was bested. "What if Kuwana suddenly became very lucky?" - I asked myself, and this came.

I don't think any of these characters should suffer, and I don't think it's necessary for Kuwana to suffer in order to understand the pain he's caused. In fact, it's through love that Kuwana can feel the value of his own miserable life. Mitsuru's situation is sad, Kuwana and Reiko's life is sad - but the story really isn't. Mitsuru is immortalized by pain, and violence, and suffering - but he can live happily through it. Even if he can't be free of it, he lives a kind and honest life. Surely, there are themes of terror and trauma interwoven in both Two Birds and The Immortal Son. I talked about "preservation" and "violence" earlier, but I also felt like it was necessary to touch on normal things, like family, disability and gender. There's no real "point" I wanted to hit with these fics, I just wanted to tell that kind of story.

I'll add in a later reblog some ideas I was floating around while writing both of these. There are tons of scrapped ideas and artifacts from the time between Two Birds and The Immortal Son, including one fic about Reiko's family, and another about Kawai's funeral. I'm going to go find those things now and report back. Later, eventually.

i can't really... think of any? there are words i like but i wouldn't say i hoot and holler if i see a chance to use them, or see them crop up in someone else's work. themes and ideas, yeah! specific words... idk.

17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.

i've been doing a lot of probably entirely unnecessary research for my latest WIP which is... hm! how about i dm you about that one.

on the subject of research, i'm under no illusions, catabolic seed is sheer scifi nonsense (affectionate). i've purposefully held off from getting too in the weeds with it because i know i would stress too much about complex worldbuilding and scientific accuracy, so a lot of stuff that isn't directly relevant to the plot is broad strokes stuff. as per the main inspiration, wolf 359, i'm leaning more on the workplace comedy at the start (because, haha, i have a job, he just like me fr) but i may develop the sci fi elements more once its time to fully bring them into the story. what i do have is: detailed bios and job descriptions for each character, a rough layout of the spaceship Hemera, notes on robotics and spacefaring technology, rival factions within the worldspace, some alien biology stuff... i'm a pretty big science nerd, and i enjoy good hard sci fi! but we're not doing that here, we're putting guys in situations. this is about genre. verisimilitude. you're getting good old fashioned technobabble.

alright, how about this part from ch1 of catabolic seed! i made some pretty big last minute changes to the beginning of the fic because the pacing wasn't working, and i ended up pulling in a scene from much later in the story to serve as a dirkjake meet cute.

i like set up. establishing tone, creating atmosphere... the way you introduce a character, even one known already to the audience, is something i think is important and i enjoy playing with that a lot. originally jane was present and dirk was going to be pulling a bunch of wires out of the wall, which jane described as 'disemboweling her spaceship' but at some point i decided him popping out of the vent and scaring the shit out of jake seemed like a more fun idea so i ran with it. this establishses dirk as a potential threat, which leads to the stupid kabedon moment later, which leads to the jokes about the disney cruise liner and the engineering section flooding... i didn't have time to think it through all the way but as far as choices made on the fly go i think i made it work!

dirk being in the vents was also pulling from wolf 359, specifically referencing the character captain minkowski who i felt was kind of comprable to dirk in terms of her neuroses - it wasn't till i got someone else's eyes on it that they pointed out that i'd introduced dirk exactly like a fucking xenomorph, which was perfect, so i scrambled to insert a textual reference to the alien movies and doing some hasty worldbuilding while i was at it.

in general i think exploring the relationship from jake's point of view is super interesting. in an au where they don't already know each other, dirk is an interesting figure for jake to 'figure out' - aloof, mysterious, other - classic love interest stuff. which is perhaps less interesting than their deal in canon, but hey, i'm having fun running with it.

26. How do you get into your character’s head? How do you get out? Do you ever regret going in there in the first place?

hm, i don't know. i hyperfixated on the alpha kids pretty hard so i think i already have quite well-formed interpretations of their personalities and perspectives, it's not hard to dredge those up when i need them. i won't pretend my writing is for sure an accurate reflection of canon characterisation or anything but i'll go read passages from canon when writing and refining dialogue especially. and hmm. i do end up going to dark places sometimes, and nearly every fic ends up quite a bit darker than i mean it to... i'm totally fine. don't worry about it.

aside from my aforementioned interests in genre fiction, or biology, i can see what i'm grappling with as a person reflected quite clearly in what i end up exploring in my work. i have the past experiences of being a queer teenager who had no idea what was going on, grappling with mental illness and feeling incredibly alone. or i can draw on my experiences as an adult, finding myself as a person, going out into the world, and all the struggles therein.

This is a bit of a silly one since a lot of their stuff is Omega!Timeline style... but for ease I'll explain my world building vibes: I call the space where all these guys exist the Goldverse. Most of my ocs travel the multiverse, abd those who do have AUs usually exist in a different timeline to end up there. So, we'll be going off of Goldverse lore here! (<- It's the home-universe of Eternal Ashes) Everyone can freely move between AUs and timelines.

Ichor: His universe (in GV) was destroyed by the Human. He lives in the Omega Timeline in a little apartment in a "city" portion! It's cozy, a living room, a nice bed, a kitchen, a bathroom. The usual! More cushy than most apartments in the area tho (favoritism lmao) EDIT: His apartment is actually 2 bedroom because he has Sons to watch over. They're immortal and don't stay with him often, but they do need an extra set of beds lol-

Pretender: His universe was... also destroyed by his human. Kinda. He ends up living in a suburb house, I think, on the outskirts of a city. Two bedrooms, two bath, one floor + a basement. He visits the city often though, and can be spotted staying across the multiverse when given the chance (ex. Nightmare's Castle)

N: ??? She just kinda pops into existence when she's needed. But also? She's a couch-surfer and sleeps under the stars. Ichor once found her on his couch in the morning, had no clue how she got in. (So, occasional roommate to Ichor :3)

Orchid: Lives strictly with Nightmare in his castle, even post-story EA. She has her own room that's decorated in purple decor and dreamcatchers she made and a bunch of books! Very Cozy. (I say strictly. Sometimes she goes to Underswap and stays with the bros there for a week or two when she gets overwhelmed.)

Reset: Used to live with Geno in the save screen (he and Kane went out to visit Reaper often tho) but now he has his own place in the Omega Timeline. An apartment, a few buildings down from Ichor. A bit small, but filled to the brim with video games and movie posters. And guitars. He's not the best at playing, but no noise complains yet, so that's good!

(The two above Eventually might be roommates, but as of now they get limited (and supervised) times that they can see eachother due to the whole.. genocide thing.)

Stereo: Post-EA he lives with Fresh still (I Imagine it to be like a random house in a void or maybe a Van? Yeah, I could see Fresh living that Van/Modified Bus life). It's an ever-changing living situation tbh, but Fresh is a good role-model, so who's to judge?

Monochrome: He's living with Cross after the whole EA situation. Aka, he lives in Nightmare's castle too. His room is one over from Orchid's and has a bunch of art supplies and crafts happening constantly. Orchid doesn't mind him, but does Not let him in her room... (Unless he's having a nightmare.)

Teddy: She has two houses! One that Ink made for her in a pocket void (she only goes there to sew now) and Haphazard's house in the Omega Timeline. She likes staying with Hap because he's her older brother, and she also hates being alone. (She's also been known to stay with Stereo or Sprite and Merlot.)

Haphazard: A house in the Omega Timeline as previously stated. Pre-story he never had time to stop moving so he ended up sleeping very little, but post-story he and Lost move in together and relax a bit.

Shotput: A lil different, he moves from AU to AU. Technically he prefers a Royalty AU (the one where he met his boyfriend, Roman) because it's an au where his parents actually pay attention to him. Besides that though, he'll bum at Nightmare's (thanks to Killer) and does technically have a room but it's pretty barren. So, 90% he's at a castle.

Ark: Lives in the city. But like, specifically in the Lab sectors. Work-a-holic that's a danger to everyone? Yeah. No. He's gonna stay Mildly Contained.

Pick one of your characters and talk about their growth (we recommend choosing an older character, but it’s up to you!) What about their story has surprised you? What are you proud of? How have they changed from their original inception to now?

When I picked up Darius, I was very determined to make Dadrius happen. It was my big wish for him in last year's questionnaire. I think I can say he's made great progress! His relationships with Hunter and Willow specifically have become very dear to me and it's brought on some Big Feels that Darius has been able to step into the role that Caleb was for him.

Something that has surprised me was Darius reconnecting with his family. It wasn't something I had planned for him, but it sort of fell naturally into place with where I wanted to go for him. While taking on a leadership role is easy, actually genuinely connecting with people is distinctly harder, particularly those he has hurt. The more I grew Darius's family and his history with them, the more I wanted to explore the complicated relationship between self and collective, tradition and modernism, and generational trauma. The story of the Deamonne family doesn't have winners or losers and no side is completely right. Sometimes things happen that can't be fixed with an apology or grand gesture, but will instead take work and time, which Darius is willing to put in. And now that's being cut off from him! What happens next? We'll just have to see.

Pick another character (or the same character if you only have one) and talk a little about where you WANT them to go. What are your plans for them going into the new year? 

I have big plans for Ben coming up. He's still in the process of settling into town, and I want to get him fully integrated by moving somewhere permanent and making some friends, even if just catty bitchy ones. I want him to ingratiate himself throughout the community and make "deeper" connections.

That way, it'll be even worse when he starts making his moves.

So that being said, if you love magic items or talking shit, you should hit him up!

Pick a thread or a plot that you’re proud of and talk about why you loved it. 

I really loved the SATO AU. I was nervous about it at first, because I don't know anything about PJO and didn't grow up with it. But if you give me a chance to make a monster character, I will go for it. I loved being able to write Ralph the Cyclops--it's a lot of what I want to do with Ralph the Giant in canon, but his monstrosity was a lot more front and center here. Plus, I'm a basic bitch who LOVES an animalistic predator/prey ship, so I was all over this lmao

However, I also really enjoyed getting to write Atta in this context! It's so hard to separate her from her canon self, considering being a Royal Talent is so much of her identity. But getting to strip that away and see who she is under all that was a fun exercise and it got her some neat connections once she woke up as well!

And of course introducing Ben through the AU was a bit of a wrench, because we got to see more of who he actually is much earlier than I (or he) had planned for. It's given me a bit of a different trajectory with him that I'm having fun with!

In terms of your own writing, identify 1-3 things you love to write about (metaphors? Sibling relationships? Physical description?) and talk about why you enjoy it! 

Last year I chose family, dialogue, and set up/pay off. All of these things are still true! Here are some more:

Otherness: As I said earlier, I love a good monster metaphor. The ways in which society "others" others can be explored through the straight up magic system and lore of the world space but it also can be through queerness, racial identity, neurodivergency, fatness, and so much more that I love weaving into my writing.

Found Family: I grouped this in with family last year, but I do think it's a distinct thing. The family you're born into has such a different dynamic than the one you choose, with neither better or worse, but I have really enjoyed the found families I've been writing this year

Cringe: I love writing losers lmao. It's fun when you get to poke fun at your characters and even more so when you can draw a reaction from someone else.

What major updates have your characters gone through this year? (For example: beginning/ending a relationship, moving, starting a new job, adopting a pet, etc). Think if it as anything you would have put in the #character-updates channel. If you have a pinned post, consider adding these updates so everyone is aware of them in the future.

Angel: Quit her job at the Hunted Deer after Gaston told her she needed to stop OnlyFans, experienced her first Swynlake dream (Regency), had to say goodbye to her first real friend Tanya, got a job at The Lucky Cat Cafe, had her first hookup in years with Boo (and werewolf safe condoms!) wolfed out in order to save Gem from the cops at fight club, got recruited by MAFIA where she met the lead werewolf Reggie, had her second Swynlake dream (SATO), kidnapped a sorcerer prison guard, helped in a prison break, maybe killed a person, then actually killed a person when Gaston confronted her burning down the Hunted Deer after Linnet's attack came to light, all while getting shot. It's been a Big Damn Year for Angel!

Darius: Went on a date with Tofi then got ghosted, formed one sided beef with a woman who doesn't know he exists, experienced his first Swynlake dream (Regency), got closer with co-workers (Shere, Randall), helped Annie after she was magically pranked, was called in to help when Hunter mysteriously conked out for several days, helped Lilith enact her tournament providing abominations, helped funding for Aurora's apothecary, experienced his second Swynlake dream (SATO), joined Lilith's crew for hunting the Philosopher's Stone, joined Hunter and crew to confront Belos and helped them escape, reconnected with his siblings after no-contact for 10 years, met his nibling, chose to stay in Swynlake even with the Isles closing and had Willow move in with him, helped out with Magnifico's solstice party. and met up with old friend and colleague Raine Whispers to begin plotting...Also a pretty big year for Darius!

Luisa: Started off the year with a lot of good family interactions, but then the Regency Swynlake dream opened a big can of Trauma Worms that really shook her up, she opened up to Mirabel about it, she went on dates with Mads and Remy, saved a group of old people with Lightning using their powers, got caught up in Madrigal Drama when Bruno returned for the vow renewal, SATO dream, helped out with the university Magick Grand Prix, had a confrontation with Julieta at their Día de los Muertos party which caused a localized earthquake, began to experience her powers faltering until they completely failed when attempting to lift the town's Christmas tree, made a brief appearance at Georgette's luau at her sister's request but has been noticeably absent otherwise

Bones: Joined the rp (but has canonically been around), Hinted to Hunter he was dead (lol), Auditioned and got a part for Pip's musical, experienced the Regency dream where he killed King and hooked up with Shere, returned to Paris for the first time in years, cast in Much Ado, briefly a servant to Lady Miracle after she took over Snow's body, was kicked out of Hauntley and then had to take it back by breaking the timeloop, was confronted by his old necromancer in the timeloop, confirmed to Hunter he was dead (lmao), SATO dream, had his 300th birthday

Atta: Joined the rp (but has canonically been around), oversaw the late fairy flotilla, connected with her fairies on issues around the Hollow, attended campaign events for Vidia and confronted her and Tink, SATO dream, asked fairies what they thought of Vidia's campaign, became friends with Ben (backdated one-shots are coming OTL)

Ben: Came to Swynlake under the guise of research on magical objects, experienced his first Swynlake dream which really shook him up, got into some Twitter fights which birthed an interest in fairies, got a job as an archivist at Town Hall, reconnected with Order people, spent entirely too much bidding on Phillip Knightley, had his date with Phillip which prompted an Instagram post where people mistook them for a couple, danced with Giselle at the election ball, became friends with Atta (I promise it's coming!!)

Talk about your dash reply style and your Discord reply style! (And if applicable, also your doc reply style). What do you like about each type of interaction? What is something you feel is difficult? Do you have preferences regarding how many times you’re tagged per day, or do you prefer for your replies to be queued for a certain amount of time?

Dash: I'd like to think I've made progress on my bad habit of feeling like I need to respond to everything all at once when it comes to dash posts. However, I'm not where I'd like to be in terms of reply speed and how fast I finish threads, so that's something to work on in the new year! I'm also trying to let go of the notion that my best writing should be in my replies--it doesn't need to and it's okay if not every reply is a gem! Either way I love a good dash reply, I love using gifs, and I love seeing everything come together and look back at it all.

Discord: This is something I still need to get better at. I feel like I do pretty good when I'm online and around, but it's easy for me to fall off once something else comes up and then I don't come back to it. I am always up for continuing a Discord thread even after the event so HMU if you ever want to!

Docs: I'm still getting used to this, but I do like docs! I think it's a great way to do group threads which I've really been enjoying, especially with all the bigger plots going on. This is another one where I need to remind myself that my writing doesn't have to be perfect and it's better to have it done than "good".

In terms of all of these, I don't mind being tagged as much as I need! In fact, please poke me if I need to be tagged more than once! This is a big resolution for me this year.

Friendships: Some of my fave relationships in this rp have been unexpected, while others were planned from the start, and I love them both! If you ever think our characters would be friends, please feel free to reach out. Let's throw them together and see what happens!

Romance: I didn't really get to explore this a lot in the last year, so it's something I want to get into now! It doesn't necessarily have to be long term ships but going on dates, ill-advised hookups, weird pining, and everything in between, HMU!

Magic and worldbuilding: I think the worldbuilding in this rp is so cool and I'd love to explore it more with my characters. If ever you have any weird ideas, I'm always listening. Especially with Ben as the resident Magick-Eater, I think there could be some really cool drama there

Angel: Get closer with her MAFIA buds, maybe some more hookups, get closer to and recruit other werewolves for MAFIA, continue (and potentially find?) the search for her father, contend with her non-MAFIA relationships now that she's committed to them, help MAFIA towards their goals including any and all illegal activity

Darius: Grow into his role as a leader and mentor of...a growing rebellion?? The upcoming year is heavily involved with BI plotting, but there's still a chance to sneak in a date if you want ;)

Luisa: Contend with the dysfunction of her powers! This is obviously a huge plot for her, as being the super strong helper around town is her entire identity and personality. During this rough time I'd love for her to connect with people, finally make some deeper friends, and figure out who she is outside of what she can do.

Devyn: Devyn is getting all wound up in the Magnifique drama, along with some big news dropping early in the year. I'd love for outsiders looking in to start warning them the dangers of what they're getting into. But also, I'd love for Devyn to support other people in their plots!

Ralph: I've really loved the way Ralph has connected with people and would love to expand that! Become a part of the community! Finally start to feel like he belongs somewhere! Also more shenanigans!

Atta: She's also got some big plots coming up this year. Like it or not she WILL be interacting with more people so come bother my babe. I'd also really like to see her be forced to face her gender identity issues more head on

so. have some more Golden No Longer au things, specifically in regards to what i call The Glitchtrap/Malhare era! (i personally like the name Malhare better, because it matches with O'Hare, which is what i changed Springbonnie's name to)

so, a few lore things to keep in mind for this:

- i ignore a good 95% of shit from the books, including Remnant. it's for the sake of the timeline and my sanity.

- Golden No Longer is...kinda a rewrite, but is more or less my own version of the Fnaf timeline that has been made so that the timeline is much simpler than it is canonically and also makes Some Kind of sense.

- Malhare, at least in Golden No Longer, is basically a small piece of Afton's soul left behind that grew into its own thing. Afton, who is still in Ultimate Custom Night Hell thanks to Cassidy, is completely unaware of its existence, at least for a while.

- once we get into The Malhare Era, the plot Definitely shifts around a lot. new characters get introduced, there are some Familiar Last Names in there, and just some Funky Plot Stuff happens.

- Fritz Smith (yes the Fnaf 2 Night 7 nightguard) had kids. plural. Fritz Jr. and Jeremy, the missing kids, being two of them. Tabi survived to adulthood, though.

- Mike Schmidt, who is different from Michael Afton in GNL AND is Cassidy's younger brother, married a nonbinary partner who he had a child with. that child ended up having a child (Gregory) that they weren't ready to care for, and thus gave up. Greg is entirely unaware of his technical last name, and the history of that name.

- Sammy Emily, after having a whole crisis after his father died in Pizzeria Simulator (he's dedicated his entire life for the past few decades for avenging his sister's death, as well as the deaths of several other children), married a woman that he adopted a child with. he also worked as a technician in the Pizzaplex. he wants Bonnie back >:/ Cassie doesn't know much about her father's history, but she has heard tales of her "dear Aunt Charlotte/Charlie" who died way too soon.

- Vanny. that's just her.

- so...long story short, William had some siblings, specifically a brother. :) this brother actually had kids that lived long enough to have children of their own. :) Summer is Afton's great niece, and he is the Tape Girl (Summer is genderqueer). oh yeah, they and Vanny are dating.

some brief plot things:

Summer and Vanny move to the Fnaf Town (i think it's called Hurricane?), and upon Summer introducing themself, they find people...looking at them weird, like there's something wrong with her. he feels confused; did it do something wrong?

the pair get jobs working for Fazbear Entertainment, and the pre-Help Wanted story stuff happens. Malhare causes problems for the couple, and they both reluctantly get involved with this shit.

Summer starts having nightmares of meeting Afton in Hell (UCN), and while he's hostile and closed off at first, he realizes that this is likely his only chance to talk with another person, so he eventually starts (unknowingly) chatting with his great niece. Summer views their chats as being more disturbing than anything else. Afton still doesn't know who Summer is, and vice-versa.

Summer Now Has A Glitchy Hare In His Brain, And So Does Vanny (but he causes more problems for Summer).

they go to work at the Pizzaplex, Vanny getting a job as a security guard, and Summer getting a more technician-type job.

Vanny is definitely more of a Reluctant Follower of Malhare (the idea of child murder is...unsettling for Vanny), but less so than Summer (Summer Fucking Hates All Of This).

Tabi, the younger sibling of two of the MCI kids and another security guard, has...rather negative opinions on the last name Afton, so to say...so Summer changes its last name to Atkins to avoid drama with her.

Malhare realizes Gregory exists and goes You Wanna Know What Would Be A Funny Idea? and that's how Security Breach happens.

Tabi's just trying to find Gregory so she can get him home or at least somewhere safer. Vanny is just trying to get the child murder over with so that she doesn't back out of this/get cold feet and piss off the Literal Glitchy Hare That Can Probably Kill her, and Summer is trying to fight off Malhare and lead Gregory to safety so that nothing bad happens.

everything works out, The End, Gregory is safe but the Pizzaplex is destroyed. Malhare is Pissed and is making that rather clear to Vanny and Summer. they're both relieved, though.

The Ruin DLC happens, and Malhare (as the Mimic) decides to go Alright You Guys Aren't Gonna Help Me Murder A Child? Fine, I'll Do It Myself. because yes Malhare, The Last Time Someone Killed An Emily Kid, That Ended Really Well For Them, Right? :) Sammy has dedicated his life to avenging a family member before, Malhare, don't fucking make him do it again, because you don't know how far he is willing to go.

Cassie survives, but just barely. Greg manages to help her get out, but not before Malhare and him lock eyes for a moment. Gregory booked it out at that point.

anyway, this is a brief plot summary so far. as always, feel free to send asks! ("Summer Is Effectively Being Forced To Start A Cycle All Over, And They Fucking Hate It So Much" is the best summary of this whole mess right here)

In your ender dragon Dream au(s), going of your personal lore of hybrids, how did Dream grow up? Like, what server did the ender dragon glitch out in, and who took care of toddler Dream? Because they must have noticed a lack of big scary dragon.

Also, small question, would this have happened the second a player stepped into the end, or right when the server was first created? I adore your hybrid headcanons, they're so good!

I think the second question is actually vital to address first: the glitch happened when the server was first created. The server's Ender Dragon is created with it. Most servers don't interact with their Ender Dragon for months if not years after creation though. In the case of this particular server, it suffered from glitches and instability from it's creation, due to the lack of a proper dragon.The admin never realized that was the cause though, because the glitch is so rare.

As a result, c!Dream's spawned in alone in the End as a toddler. Luckily, being an Ender Dragon hybrid, the Endermen in the End helped him for several weeks, and he learned the very basics of survival. Eventually, the server admin couldn't fix the glitches and decided to reset the server, something that ejects players into the next closest server that will take them. Players usually leave the server before that happens because it’s easy to get lost, but the failsafe kicks in if they get stuck for whatever reason.

On the next server over, Dream once again was in the End, but this time there was a proper Ender Dragon present. It was a server that kept the End closed, so the Ender Dragon was still active.

Now, Ender Dragons usually never meet one of their own kind. Despite this, as Dream quickly learned, they tend to be protective over hybrids of their kind on the rare chance they meet them. So up until about age 8 or 9, Dream was being raised by an Ender Dragon. He was curious about humans, as the Dragon would tell him stories about them, but unwilling to go meet them out of fear. After all, Players kill the Ender Dragon. For a regular dragon, that’s fine because the death isn’t real. Merely a changing of state. Dream isn’t a regular dragon though. He doesn’t want to die. 

After slowly figuring out enchanting with the help of some Endermen, Dream finally manages to make his Mask when he’s nearly 10. It lets him blend in as a human completely, and it’s very strong. After that, he “kills” the Ender Dragon and returns to the overworld of the server.

This is when c!Badboyhalo discovers there’s a child on his server. Dream is a quiet child at first, but he seems to understand English, and after some time, Dream manages to give his story: He was on a server when it reset, and ended up in the End. He doesn’t remember where he came from or who his parents were, but he made the mask to protect himself from Endermen.

Obviously, c!Bad believes the child, and there’s a period of searching before it becomes clear they won’t be finding Dream’s home server. Dream is just fine with that.

After that, Bad... sort of adopts him? Dream is a bit too independent and divorced from the concept of parents to be adopted by this stage in his life. While Dream enjoys people plenty, he’s not socialized to behave like one. c!Sapnap whose around Dream’s age is Dream’s best friend, and the two spend a lot of time together. Bad really does try to keep an eye on Dream, but the child will just vanish whenever he feels like it. The server is generally safe, so Bad kinda just lets Dream run around since he doesn’t know how to stop him. Dream learns how to change servers, and will come and go as he pleases. There's not much Bad can do about that.

Despite Bad’s attempts to create a parental emotional connection, Dream just doesn’t pick up the signal. Bad is a friend to him above all else. A mom friend, yeah, but a friend all the same.

4 Lords Raise Rose AU Ideas

Not a single person asked for this, but that other post where I talk about the 4 lords adopting Rose but still technically being terrible people got way more popular than I expected it to, so, with about 6 shots of tequila in my system and a terrible urge to spit my thoughts out for all the internet to see and judge, I’ve decided to make a follow up post. Here’s how I think the 4 lords would take care of Rose in the event they rebelled against Mother Miranda and decided to raise Rose as their own instead, but like under the cut after a little bit cuz i accidentally went way too fucking hard with this and I don’t want ppl to get mad at me for making them scroll for an hour to get past this post:

First and foremost, I think they’d do it in stages, and what I mean by this is that Rose would essentially be given to a specific Lord for some period of her life, like a couple years, and then when she was deemed old or strong or annoying enough, she’d be moved to a different lord for some period of time and so on and so forth. They would do this because a) they all live in different areas and have shit to do so it’s easier to have Rose live with one lord at a time and then the other lords can just go visit her there from time to time, rather than try to work out a weekly custody schedule which we all know Alcina and Karl would NEVER be able to agree on so let’s not even bother, and b) because each lord would have either some skill or set of knowledge that would make them the best for caring for Rose at that specific point in her life. This way, all the lords have a (somewhat) equal chance to be a part of Rose’s life and teach her something while she’s with them. So with all that in mind now, let’s get down to who would have Rose and at what point in her life.

1. Starting off with infant Rose, I think she’d end up with the Dimitrescu’s for the first few years of her life, and the reason why I think this is because... well, Alcina IS already a mother to 3 girls, and while we don’t know a terrible amount about Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela’s “upbringing” under Alcina, we can gleam and theorize from her notes that, despite their fully grown bodies, the girls could very well have started out with the mental and physical capabilities of infants, and thus needed to be cared for and brought up in a similar manner as infants or children until they reached a certain point where they could officially be considered adults in mentality and ability, not just in physical appearance. So with this in mind, it’s entirely possible that Alcina could have at least some vague idea of how to care for an infant child through her experiences with the bug sisters; perhaps there’s some gaps in her knowledge, but if nothing else I imagine Alcina would be an infant Rose’s best shot at surviving infancy if only because the other 3 are so incompetent on how to care for a baby that Alcina looks like an expert in comparison. Not to mention that, of the possible locations for an infant to be raised, I do genuinely think that castle Dimitrescu would be the safest place for Rose to be kept during this vulnerable part of her life. Not only that but if Alcina has actually come to care for Rose as though she were one of her own daughters, then she would absolutely spoil Rose rotten with all the nicest clothes and fanciest toys, things that a small infant wouldnt be able to appreciate but would show that she’s loved and cared for nonetheless, and don’t even get me started on the bug sisters, I could see them fawning over Rose for hours on end, playing with her, singing to her, telling her stories of all the man-things they’ve gotten to play with today, and so much more. Overall, Rose would just be the most spoiled and pampered little baby with the Dimitrescus and there’s no changing my mind about this. The only thing I’m struggling to wrap my head around is how they’d feed her, since I doubt a small infant would take very well to blood wine and human flesh. I suppose it wouldn’t be terribly outrageous for them to hire a wet nurse/nanny to care for Rose during the day while the other Dimitrescus go about their daily duties, and when Rose is finally old enough to be introduced to solid food (I.e. fried human flesh cubes) they could do what they always do and turn the nurse into wine too, I guess. It’s not a solid idea but it’s more plausible than anything else I thought of so it’ll work!

2. After spending about 3 years with the Dimitrescus, Rose would then be moved to the Beneviento house. Now, If u don’t know anything about 3 year olds, then you’re probably ignorant to the fact that they are some of the craftiest, sneakiest, and most coniving groups of people to exist on this planet. 3 year olds are masters at getting into and touching just about anything and everything u don’t want them to touch, and worst of all, u won’t realize what they’re doing until they’ve already done it and left a huge mess behind, so while the Dimitrescus love and adore Rose dearly, they know it’s sadly time to hand her over when they find her sitting on top of a pile of dead bodies playing with a metal scythe in the dungeons. Once Rose is dropped off at the Beneviento house, I imagine Donna is her usual stoic self the first few weeks Rose is with her. She’s not cold or distant necessarily, in fact she’s quite happy that it’s finally her turn with precious baby Rose, but Donna isn’t exactly known for being outwardly expressive herself (and even Angie isn’t being quite as forward as she normally is), so things are quiet and peaceful for the first little while that Rose is under her care. It’s not until Rose takes an interest in her doll Angie, and more importantly the things that Donna can do with Angie, that things really start getting fun. By the end of Rose’s first month in the Beneviento house she and Donna are the best of friends and often spend their days either playing dress up and make pretend with Donna’s extensive doll collection, or playing elaborate games of cat and mouse, where Donna will set up lots of puzzles throughout the house for Rose to find and solve (I.e. rose has to match her dress to the doll with the same one as her to find a map telling her which kitchen cabinet Donna hid the chocolate in, or something like that), but be careful little Rose, Angie has been trying to get her hands on that chocolate all day, and if u take too long, she’ll find the map first and eat all the chocolate without saving you a single piece. Just silly little puzzles with enough at stake to engage the mind of a curious 3 year old, but never enough to put rose in any actual danger. Donna is nothing if not a watchful caretaker, so she makes sure she has sight of Rose at all times, occasionally giving her a hint if she’s struggling, and perhaps occasionally making things harder if that day’s puzzle is proving too easy for her. Overall, Rose’s time with Donna, while not as grand and luxurious as the Dimitrescus, was still a fun and enriching experience for the young girl, and there’s nobody in this world who thinks that Donna’s scar is cool more than Rose.

3. After another 3 years with Donna, Rose is now 6 years old and officially far too good at puzzle solving for Donna to keep up with. No matter what she tries or how hard she makes it, Rose just keeps blazing through the puzzles at an almost alarming rate, making it clear that Rose is desperately in need of not only a change in scenery, but also a change in education, and this is where Salvatore finally comes in. After leaving the Beneviento house, I think the next logical place for Rose to stay would be with Salvatore, who, with lore hinting at him perhaps being a scholarly man of some kind, would basically act as her elementary school teacher throughout the duration of her stay. Now, to be fair, Rose could have gone to Heisenburg’s factory, but Heisenberg outright refused to take her and the other 3 lords decide that the factory is simply too dangerous for Rose rn, who thus far hasn’t shown any signs of being anything other than a normal human girl with no noticeable abilities (save for a smart mouth and a terrifying habit of popping up when least expected, a habit she mostly uses to mess with Heisenberg, much to his disdain and Lady Dimitrescu’s delight), so it is to the mutant fish man’s unimaginable delight that he is unanimously voted Roses next caretaker, and the one responsible for her basic education. Despite his initial excitement however, when Rose is finally dropped off at the windmills by Donna, Salvatore realizes that he’s not 100% sure what to do with Rose now that he has her. He’d like to get started on her education right away but at the same time he’s so fearful of Rose hating him because of his disgusting appearance that he kind of just... avoids her entirely at first. He’s never far away from the little girl and is always ready to jump to her rescue should she need it, but other than that Salvatore seldom allows himself to be seen for the first month that Rose is with him, the only sign of him still being around being the platefuls of food that mysteriously appear in Rose’s room 3 times a day, as well as the occasional shiny trinket Salvatore found and thought Rose would like. At first, rose doesn’t seem to mind being left entirely to her own devices, but after every stone, log, and rotting fish corpse within 5 miles of the lake has been turned over and thoroughly examined, Rose decides she’s had quite enough of her Uncle Sal ignoring her, prompting the headstrong little girl to go looking for him herself. She finds Salvatore hiding underneath a patch of floating algae not far away from where she was playing and all but demands that the mutant man come out of the water and give her something to do or she’d tell Mother on him. Salvatore, shocked by the small child’s fearlessly blunt request, hesitates, not wanting to frighten Rose, but ultimately relents, crawling out of the water and timidly suggesting that he teach her how to read and write. Rose quickly agrees, seeming totally unbothered by Salvatore’s grotesque appearance, and the two quickly move to the schoolroom that had been set up specifically for Rose, where Salvatore spends hours upon hours a day teaching Rose everything he knows, filling the little girl’s head up first with the basics, letters and words, then numbers and simple equations, followed later by historical dates and time periods, algebraic formulas, and classic literature analysis, then biology, chemistry, physics, astrology, calculus, ecology, and so much more. Basically, anything there is to know, Salvatore knows at least something about it and he’ll make sure that Rose knows about it too. In the 3 years Rose spends with Salvatore she goes from already sharp as a whip, to being smarter than most adults even, and Salvatore takes immense pride in how intelligent and knowledgable Rose becomes thanks to his surprisingly effective teaching style. Overall, as a caretaker, Salvatore is pretty weird and doubts himself a lot, but Rose thinks he’s funny and loves learning from him so they get along very well and she loves him very dearly! He probs teaches her to swim and fish too.

4. So another 3 years come and go with incredible speed, and its with great sadness on Salvatore’s part that Heisenberg finally comes banging on the fish man’s door, all but demanding that he now be given his turn with Rose. Now, personally, I can see several different arguments being raised by the other 3 lords over why its a terrible idea to let a 9 year old anywhere near Heisenberg, much less be given into his care fully. After about 9 years of seeing his siblings paling around with the constantly growing child, and looking like theyre having the time of their lives all the while, however, Karl decides that perhaps there’s more to this little girl than he originally thought, and, with his interest now piqued (or at the very least looking forward to pissing the other 3 off for entertainment purposes), that its only fair that he be given a turn with her now too, seeing as how he’s the only one who hasn’t been given the chance to be her caretaker yet. This naturally does NOT go over well with the other 3 lords. Alcina all but threatens to kill Karl should he step so much as within 10 ft of Rose, while Donna pipes up and demands to know what his sudden interest in Rose is. Even Salvatore, who is quick to flinch away from direct conflict, goes as far as to harshly point out the plethora of times Karl had outright denied their previous attempts to get him to engage with Rose, so why on earth would they hand her over to him now when he’s previously shown to have absolutely no interest in her? After a long spout of yelling between the 4 siblings, an agreement is reached, wherein Rose herself will be given the chance to decide whether she wants to go with Heisenberg, or whether she’ll return to one of the other 3 lords for the time being. It is to Alcina, Donna, and Salvatore’s absolute horror however, that Rose enthusiastically agrees to go with her Uncle Karl to live in his factory, and with the deal already set, the other lords can do nothing to stop her from going. The trip to drop off Rose at heisenberg’s factory is a long and arduous one, especially for Salvatore, who sobs the whole way there about Rose forgetting about him despite the young girl’s insistence that she’d visit. The first thing Karl does after officially having Rose handed over to him, is give her an extensive list of all the places in the factory in which she is under no circumstances permitted to enter without his permission (which basically only leaves the control room and the old storage closet that acts as her bedroom as viable places for Rose to go and explore). The second thing Karl does is dump her in her new storage closet bedroom and then hightail it for his workshop to work on whatever sick and twisted amalgamation he’s got cooked up this time around. At first, Rose isn’t terribly bothered by this, since she’s used to having something of an “adjustment period” when she’s with a new caretaker, but unfortunately for her, this adjustment period lasts a hell of a lot longer than the others did, and by the time 3 months of almost no meaningful contact with Karl, Rose decides to take matters into her own hands and ascends into the depths of the factory despite the express orders not to do so. Now, going back to the idea that the 4 lords are still pretty terrible people, I doubt Rose has been kept ignorant to the less savory aspects of her caretaker’s lives, and tbh she probably doesn’t think anything of the fact that the Dimitrescus makes wine out of the blood of virgin women or that Salvatore still does cadou experiments (and had her help on occasion), but I imagine even Rose would find the projects Karl works on to be at least a little

4, cont. gruesome and horrifying in nature, especially since Heisenberg is the one she knows the least about. However, instead of turning Rose away from Heisenberg, these terrifying metal creatures she sees locked up only spark her already insatiable curiosity, and by the time she finally tracks Karl down, Rose is all but trembling to learn more about this horrifyingly fascinating metal world. Unfortunately, Karl is not nearly as happy to see Rose as Rose is to see him, and the engineer all but grabs Rose by the scruff of her neck and drags her back up to the control room, yelling and screaming at her all the while about how she was explicitly instructed not to enter these parts of the factory without his permission. Needless to say that Rose does not enjoy this treatment and immediately lashes out, half out of anger and half out of confusion as to why Karl was treating her like this. He was the one who wanted her here in the first place, so why the hell was he just ignoring her now? It didn’t make any sense and it was starting to piss Rose off, so naturally the only thing left for her to do in order to solve this complicated situation would be to continue to disobey Karl until he either gave up and sent her back to one of the other lords, or finally payed some damn attention to her for once. So that’s exactly what she did. Every single day Rose left her room (which Karl kept telling himself he needed to put a lock on, but never did cuz he’s an idiot) and descended down into the depths of the factory looking for something ogle at or tinker with, and every single day Karl would track her down wherever she’d managed to get to and throw her back upstairs threatening to feed her to the lycans if she did it again. This incredibly frustrating cycle continued on for the better part of the next month or so, finally coming to a head when Rose managed to wander into the part of the factory where the... less than successful experiments got put whenever Karl doesn’t have any further use for them but is feeling too lazy to kill them off himself. Long story short, Rose runs into a Sturm that chases her around the factory, causing all manner of mayhem and destruction, and would have torn her to ribbons had it not been for Karl, who jumped in at the last second and was able to fend the damn thing off long enough for Rose to get the ever living fuck out and back up to the control room where it’s safe. There’s a lot of loud noises and explosions coming from deep within the factory that last for what feels like an eternity, but Rose doesn’t dare venture out again until everything has gone eerily quiet and a deep sense of worry has settled in the pit of her stomach over what had become of her latest caretaker. Turns out the Sturm had recognized its creator and, after watching its initial prey escape because of said creator, quickly decided that it fucking hated Karl with every fiber of its being and wanted him dead if it was the last thing it’s propellers did. Now, we all know that Karl is a big strong boy who’s more than capable of handling his own creations and taking down strong enemies, but the Sturm is a creation that even he struggles to control on good days and today is decidedly not a good day so not only does Karl not have the slightest bit of control over the death machine trying to kill him, but its also a lot stronger than Karl initially thought and apparently not picky about the method which causes Karl’s death, which is evidenced by the nearly dead Sturm ramming itself into a power generator as a final act of defiance and nearly blowing up the whole factory and everybody inside. Heisenberg is able to contain the explosion somehow but not without considerable damage to himself first. Rose is, naturally, quite horrified to find Karl passed out in the elevator that had taken him up from the lower levels of the factory where the explosion was, skin burnt nearly to a crisp in certain areas and blood pooling from just about every part of him, and immediately heads over to try and help her injured caretaker.

4, cont. again cuz I physically can’t stop myself. Now, I imagine that any normal 9 year old probably wouldnt be able to handle this sort of situation in any meaningful way, but i think we can all agree that Rose is the furthest thing from normal (especially considering who raised her) and has probably seen enough blood and gore to not be terribly freaked out by it, but this is where things get a little speculative because we don’t know what Rose’s powers are exactly but we do know from the final cutscene that she does have them, perhaps even a plethora of abilities, and I like to think that some of those powers are related to Ethan’s superhuman healing capabilities, but unlike Ethan however, who from what we’ve seen could only heal himself, Rose can actually heal other people (tho this isn’t something she’s aware of at this point in time). The second the elevator door opens to reveal, what looks to be, a half-dead Karl slumped over in the corner, Rose panics and runs to him, doing everything she can think of save for maybe grabbing him by the collar or slapping him across the face, to try and get Karl to wake up, except nothing works, he wont wake up no matter how hard Rose tries and i imagine this must be incredibly distressing for Rose who never intended for something like this to happen or for her caretaker to die because he had to protect her even tho he told her not to go down there because its dangerous and anything down there WOULD kill her if given the opportunity. Anyways Rose is now full on sobbing on top of Karl like only a 9 year old who just discovered that her actions have consequences can, but unbeknownst to her (and technically Karl cuz he’s a little busy bleeding out all over the floor) Karl’s wounds are slowly beginning to close, the burns on his face and hands shift from a bright red to a dark brown before crusting over and flaking off, and even his breathing, which had been labored and inconsistent at first, began to level out slightly. Karl woke up not long after that and was surprised to find that a) he was still alive, which was cool, b) he was injured but not in indescribable pain, also cool, and c) there was a literal sobbing child all but sitting on top of him, which is definitely not something Karl was expecting but he supposed he’s been met with worse things upon waking up after almost dying so why question it. After taking a moment to gather their bearings, the two return to the safer parts of the factory to rest and recover and for the most part this little incident of their’s goes largely unspoken, with Rose not exactly in the mood to talk about how her disobedience nearly got herself and Karl killed, and Karl being too fucking tired to go after her about it, especially since she seems to have learned her lesson. The only downside to this whole thing is that now Karl has a busted up fuckin leg thats gonna take an eternity to heal even for him, and with so much work to still do he’s more or less forced to drag Rose around the factory and use her like the annoying assistant he never wanted (except he did want her, thats how this whole fucking mess started, you lug), except that Rose, who is more than used to playing lab assistant from her time with Salvatore, quickly proves to be a rather capable and handy person to have around, if only because she knows the difference between a philips and a flathead screwdriver even better than he does. An amicable, if still slightly awkward peace settles over Heisenberg’s factory once Karl starts actively engaging with Rose and giving her something to do on a daily basis, even if its just standing around watching him work and occasionally having her questions about what he’s doing answered. It doesn’t take very long after that for Karl to begin realizing that perhaps throwing a huge tantrum to get Rose to come here only to ditch her upstairs by herself for 3 months might not have been the smartest (or most considerate) thing he’s ever done, and even goes as far as to (kinda) apologize to Rose for being such a dick to her since she arrived.

4, last one i swear. Rose forgives him, though not before adding that she already knew he was an asshole from Alcina, which earns her a halfhearted swipe from Karl that Rose easily dodges with a childish giggle. From that point on their relationship improves astronomically as Karl finally gives in and teaches Rose about about engineering and everything else that goes into making the metal horrors that he’s known for. Karl is shocked at how quickly Rose picks up on the trade, getting to the point where Karl wonders if he should start giving Rose her own projects to work on, but quickly rolls his eyes and groans when he remember that Salvatore was the one responsible for her education up until this point, the mere thought of having to give compliments to that “moronic freak” for giving Rose such a good educational foundation makes him want to vomit despite how secretly impressed he is. Overall, Rose’s time with Heisenberg starts out shaky, very shaky even, but after a bit of disaster and some swallowing of the pride on Karl’s part, they end up growing quite close and have a nice fun Uncle and martass Neice dynamic. They make a good team and Karl does genuinely enjoy having a little assistant around to help him with his projects, even if Rose can sound a bit too much like Alcina on some days for his liking.

5. 3 more years come and go and now Rose is a strong and healthy 12 years old, perhaps riddled with a few more scars and smearings of ash and motor oil across her skin than when she first arrived but still strong and capable nonetheless. Going back to that first statement however, this of course means that it’s time for the other 3 lords to come banging on Karl’s door for a change, all but demanding that Rose be handed back over to them. Karl of course refuses, telling them all to fuck off and that Rose didn’t want a leave the factory, so upon realization that all 4 lords were gathered here with the intention of taking Rose back to live with them indefinitely, a fight immediately breaks out between the 4 siblings, as each one makes their case as to why Rose should be returned to them and not the other 3, which of course none of the 4 lords can come to an agreement about because they ALL want Rose to stay with them. So after another long and pointlessly arduous argument, Alcina finally breaks, proclaiming that they’d be here for all eternity of they didn’t make a decision now, and that, like the first time the 4 siblings argued over whether Rose should go with Heisenberg or return to one of the previous lords, Rose would be the one to decide which of her four caretakers she would return to. The agreement is made reluctantly, mostly on the part of Salvatore, Donna, and Heisenberg, but there was seemingly no other way for them to come to a decision, so it would unfortunately have to be up to Rose to decide which of her 4 caretakers she wants to stay with permanently. Rose is quickly brought before the 4 lords and explained the situation, before being given some time to herself to think and make her final decision. A tense and uneasy silence falls over the 4 lords as they wait for the little girl, who they had shown an uncharacteristic amount of mercy and time and devotion and love in the 12 years since Mother Miranda had brought her to the village with the intention of using her to revive an already lost and long-gone baby that she never would have gotten back no matter how hard she tried. Although they refused to admit it to one another, the lords all secretly knew that Rose had wormed her way into each of their cold, dead hearts, reviving an aspect of their humanity that they’d all thought had been lost ages ago. Rose came to the village bringing with her a wave of death and destruction, and yet throughout her childhood she has brought them nothing but light and life, illuminating their previously dark and desolate existences. The 4 lords loved their Rose very dearly and desperately wanted her to be happy, yet each of them possesses a dark and selfish desire to have Rose pick them over the other 3, to come and live with them forever and fill the hole deep inside them that they never knew needed filling. After a short while, Rose comes back out and stands before her 4 beloved caretakers, looking around nervously as she picks at her fingernails. The silence is thick and heavy as the 4 lords stare at the young girl, waiting with bated breaths for her to give her final verdict. Rose continues to say nothing as tears begin to flow from her eyes, sliding down her cheeks in thick streams as the girl begins to sob, dropping her head and clenching her dress. The 4 lords look between one another in confusion, unsure of what to do with this sudden burst of tears. Rose tearfully admits that she can’t and doesn’t want to choose which of the 4 lords she wants to live with permanently because she loves them all very much and wants to be able to see and live with all of them, like they’ve done thus far. Although the lords detest the idea of having to share Rose with anyone, they reluctantly come to an agreement for the girl’s sake, deciding that they would continue with the arrangement they’ve had thus far, only that Rose would switch between caretakers every 3 months instead of every 3 years, giving rose plenty of opportunities to see each of her caretakers just like she wanted. From then on, Rose continues to live her life

5, cont. growing up and learning more and more from each of her beloved caretakers. Although Rose would likely never know what a normal life looks like, living with 4 criminally insane monsters in the remote mountain village in Romania, it would be impossible to say that she wouldn’t have a happy life despite that. Perhaps its because the girl simply doesn’t know any better, so she doesn’t have the ability to see just how messed up her life and her 4 caretakers really are, but i imagine that Rose probably wouldn’t care very much to learn even if she had the opportunity. She’s a happy little girl living a strange but enjoyable life with the only family she’ll ever need. What more could she possibly ask for?

6. As for how Mother Miranda would play into this whole scenario I’ve just drunkenly spat out, im honestly not 100% sure. Ive seen some people suggesting that MM just kinda chills and lets the lords do what they want with Rose, but tbh I honestly don’t see that happening in this universe. MM would still have been just as crazy and driven to get Eva back as she was in canon, so i doubt she’d willingly standby and let her “false children” take away her one shot of getting her real child back simply because they didn’t want to hurt her, i just don’t personally see that happening. The two most likely scenarios i can come up with is that the Lords either banded together and look Miranda on together, their combined forces being enough to take her down and kill her, OR, Ethan is the one to take down MM like he did in canon but he passes out before he can get to rose, giving the lords (who he hadn’t ended up killing but just escaping from i guess) the opportunity to slide in, grab rose, and hightail it out of there, leaving Ethan’s body to be retrieved by Chris, who, due to not seeing or hearing Rose anywhere, believes that Rose must have been accidentally killed along with MM, which he later tells to Ethan and Mia. Regardless of how MM gets taken out of the picture (or if she’s given room to potentially come back later), the 4 lords retreat with Rose and begin the whole cycle I explained up above, but i did want to briefly address how I saw MM fitting into all of this since she is a vital part of the original story and the biggest obstacle to the lords having anything to do with Rose.

Anyways, that was so much longer than I intended it to be but I had so much fun with it just because it gave me the opportunity to spit some fun ideas and potential plot points out about this cool AU that I like and hope someone does SOMETHING with, please god someone do it, I’d do it myself but i have enough projects at the moment unfortunately. Wherever the world takes us Part 1 - A SBI!Reader insert

Summary: A small introduction to the SBI family dynamic including the reader! Today is Techno’s big day at the local festival! He get’s to participate in a fighting tournament but until that happens there is still a ton of time to somehow still get into trouble, isn’t there?

Shapeshifters aren’t as rare as many people think. In fact many carry that gene but not everyone ends up showing the properties of one. If you have the active gene you may show first changes during your early childhood which then stretches out until your late teens where the changes will stop resulting in the persons usual animal like form. These changes can range from a whole body covered in fur to having goat like eyes or just horns on their head.

As far as scientists know there isn’t a real reason as to what the final form will be since Shapeshifters who are directly related to one another can have complete and drastically different forms to each other. Though an old myth has been going around for as long as people know that the form a Shapeshifter takes is a result of their subconscious, something that mirrors their true self. Sadly due to this belief many Non-Shifters hold stereotypes and prejudice towards them.

Philza was a Shapeshifter himself. As a kid two stubs slowly appeared at his back and settled in over the years as beautiful huge black wings that he could use for takeoff and a bit for flying but mostly functioned better for gliding around. He used these wings to later travel around the world, learning everything about it and training himself.

At some point he did settle down again and ended up fathering four children alone of whom two showed Shapeshifter properties as well.

There were the twins Technoblade and Wilbur. Technoblade showed from an early age on a deeper interest in fighting. Always asking to learn more than the self-defense techniques their father was teaching them, so Philza took the time to teach him everything he knew. Gifting him later on a proper iron sword which Techno then used to train almost daily with. Philza later had to put mending on that sword since it was chipped and scratched in a short time over heavy use. He is also one of the two children of Philza who ended up being a Shapeshifter. They first noticed when two of his teeth in his lower jaw tended to peek out of his mouth. Over the years these two teeth turned into full blown tusks, flappy pink ears would appear on his head, his hair slowly turned into a soft pink, as well as bristle like fur begun growing on his arms. It were the characteristics of a pig as they soon realized.

Wilbur the younger of the twins by two minutes was more interested in music and books. Philza gifted him a guitar the same time he gave Techno his first sword. From that point on it was a rare thing if you didn’t see Wilbur’s guitar around him. Either on his person or laying close by him. Over time he got really proficient with the instrument and begun writing amazing songs as well as singing them himself.

The middle child Y/N was the more mellow of the whole bunch though this didn’t mean much in the context of the whole family. While they happily took part in whatever trouble their siblings got up to they were at the end the first person that would try to help solve these troubles as well and took care of any wounds. To that end they soon learned how to grow their own herbs to make medicine. This was something Philza taught them. Both would spent a ton of time in the garden, so much so, that the garden was dubbed Y/N’s and Dad’s garden. Techno would sometimes help out as well but that was a more rare occurrence. Y/N was the second kid with the active Shapeshifter gene. Just like their father, two stubs appeared at their back that too would turn into huge black wings. Y/N still remembered how perplexed but proud Philza was when he understood what was happening. They didn’t know what they expected from their father but this reaction wasn’t it. But they weren’t mad about it.

The youngest of the family was Tommy and he was the number one reason why the kids got into trouble in the first place. He would wake up, make weird plans and rope the others into it as well. Wilbur was the first he would usually try to recruit to which Techno then would reluctantly join knowing that if the two are together they will need help later on. Getting Y/N on board was pretty easy as well. It was either a thing of them knowing they will one hundred percent get hurt so best to join in now or they were feeling particularly chaotic that day and wouldn’t even hesitate to join.

Back when they all lived together in their old cottage home their daily lives would always start in the same way.

Philza would be the first awake. He would wake the children up and continue downstairs to work on breakfast for everyone.

There was no real order to who would be the first downstairs for food but it was always Y/N who would be the last to join the group. Moving in front of their designated chair only to stretch before properly sitting down.

“Ew! Gross! Your wing touched my food!” Wilbur exclaimed angrily, pulling the plate with his food closer to himself and farther away from his sibling.

Y/N rolled their eyes “I’m not poisonous, Wilbur.”

“Still gross.” He muttered more to himself as he reluctantly took a bite from his toast.

Phil eyed the two but looked back down to his food and coffee “Your wings are getting pretty big. I’m sure it won’t take long until you can do more than just gliding about.”

“So, that means you can teach them to fly soon?” Tommy was the one to ask surprisingly. Sure, that was on Y/N’s mind as well so they didn’t mind Tommy saying what they thought but they still felt like it was a bad sign and a call for trouble though they couldn’t think how nor did they care enough to find out.

Philza raised one of his eyebrows, obviously taking note of that fact as well. It was something you learned to look out for once you spend enough time with Tommy. “I’m not sure how soon but I think so, yeah.”

“Cool.” Was all Tommy remarked. He then proceeded to stare at his food so his family would get their suspicion off of him. Acting as if he didn’t just figuratively plant a huge red flag on the table with the words “I have a plan!”.

Y/N on the other hand couldn’t help to smile. They were excited for the eventual day when Philza could finally teach them how to fly. For the longest time now they have only learned to use their wings to glide and got really good at changing directions while doing so. Taking care of their wings was already a pain so they wanted to get at least something good out of having them in the first place and being able to properly fly is a huge plus since getting into positions where you could actually  glide around was a difficult and a bothersome thing.

Philza sighed choosing to ignore Tommy and instead turned to look at Wilbur and Y/N “What is your plan today? Want to join me and Techno when we go into town for the tournament?”

After a few seconds of confused expressions between the two Wilbur suddenly shouted “Oh! Techno’s tournament! Of course! I wanna see him beat up other people for a change!”

Techno snorted “Really feeling the support here right now, bro.”

“I’m guessing you both are coming too?” Philza was now addressing the other two of his kids.

Both were fast and eager to agree. Wilbur was right. Usually Techno tried sparring with his siblings though using the word sparring was maybe an overstatement. He would mercilessly beat them up and complain they didn’t last long enough. At rare times where all of them were bored enough they would play a game of >Who can last the longest against Techno<. Y/N really wasn’t too big a fan of this game since they ended up being the only one who would address the wounds later including their own since they didn’t trust the others to properly apply a band aid.

From this point on the breakfast was more alive than before. Tommy and Wilbur would constantly ask questions to Techno about who he will be fighting or how everything will work. To which he all just gave a very non-committal “I dunno”.

After they all cleaned up the breakfast table, they got ready and grabbed everything they needed.

The town wasn’t super far away but it was a long enough walk that it would be inconvenient to get back for things you might have forgotten.

Techno grabbed his sword while Wilbur made sure to take his beloved guitar with him. Y/N made sure to grab all kinds of medicine and bandages with them. They knew Techno will get treated at the tournament should he get hurt but they felt better if they brought some stuff with them as well. Tommy on the other hand made sure to grab all kinds of things including a few pages of paper, pens, string and more. Philza wanted to just write it down to Tommy probably meeting up with Tubbo in town and doing harmless crafts but the chances were slim.

As they made their way to the tournament and Philza was preaching to them to not cause any trouble since there would be a lot of people there today, Y/N soon noticed how Techno would nervously play around with the hilt of his worn out sword.

They affectionately put their arm around their older brother for a short side hug, including putting their wing around him “You’ll do fine. I know it. Don’t worry too much and just imagine you are beating one of us up.”

Technoblade had to roll his eyes at that “I’ll try to take that advice to heart.”

As they arrived in town the kids looked around in awe. Everywhere were stalls set up selling food or little decorative things or toys. People where weaving in and out between stalls, loudly talking with each other. Laughter and yells filled the air.

In the middle of the town square there was a huge box marked on the ground. This is where the fights would happen. As far as Techno explained the rules were simple. Get your opponent on their back, get them out of the box or beat them unconscious. Tommy was absolutely loving the idea of Techno beating all of his opponents unconscious and said he wouldn’t take any other result as acceptable.

“Alright kiddos. Techno and I have to talk with the organizer. You three can go and have some fun but you have to promise me a few things. Whatever you guys do stay together! Don’t talk to strangers and as soon as the fights start you come over. I will find you then, okay? I will only let you guys go if you agree to this.”

“I can still try to find Tubbo, right?” Tommy asked.

“Of course but only if you all stay together.” He was looking at Wilbur when he said the last part. This meant Wilbur was the boss for today. Well until they met up again with their dad.

Wilbur put his hands on each shoulder of his younger siblings “We will! Don’t worry dad!”

Philza gave them a last nod before walking off. Before Techno followed him he looked at the three “Don’t… cause too much trouble. At least for me so nothing happens to the tournament.” With that Technoblade turned around and followed Philza closely.

“Well, what should we start with?” Y/N asked their brothers.

Tommy threw his arms in the air “Tubbo!”

Wilbur laughed “Alright. We’ll try to find your Tubbo. I’m sure he and his siblings should be around here as well.”

Tubbo was Tommy’s best friend and honestly he hangs around their home so much they almost consider him a family member as well. He had an older sister Puffy and an older brother Schlatt though. They were a curious case. All three of them carried the active Shapeshifter gene and all three begun growing horns, their ears turned into that of goats and they all had the horizontal iris’.

Y/N liked to spend time with Puffy. Just like Y/N Puffy too acted more like a caretaker to her siblings which the two soon bonded over while Schlatt and Wilbur soon hit it off as well. It was actually quite amusing to see them interacting since Wilbur was known for loving art and freedom. Schlatt on the other hand tried to see how he can scam the most people in the most effective manner in the shortest amount of time. Trying to turn in a profit at every turn. You wouldn’t immediately think they would end up being such good friends.

The three were raised by their father as well who everyone just referred to as Captain Sparklez though his real name was Jordan. He coincidentally also helped with setting up this little festival for the town.

Tommy suddenly took a deep breath in as he cupped his hands around his mouth “Tubbo!”

Wilbur furrowed his brows “Tommy, there are a ton of people around here! There is no way he heard you.”

“Tommy! Over here!” a different voice called out, away from all the stalls and people.

Wilbur and Y/N looked surprised while Tommy almost proudly smirked at them. The bond Tommy and Tubbo had was something else.

Together the three ran through the crowd to finally meet up with Tubbo and apparently his siblings. As a greeting Tubbo softly headbutted Tommy while Puffy did the same to Y/N. Schlatt never did this with Wilbur. Said he might have goat like characteristics but he is still more human than goat hence why he didn’t do this whole headbutting thing. It has been a whole ordeal with Wilbur once where he demanded to get a headbutt from Schlatt as well for a greeting. After enough prodding and being a general nuisance Schlatt decided to straight up headbutt him as hard as possible almost knocking him out and gave him a good bruise on his forehead. Wilbur never asked for another headbutt greeting since then.

Y/N gave Puffy an additional hug, making sure to wrap their wings around her as well “I’m glad to see you Puffy!”

“So am I! I heard Techno is taking part in the tournament, isn’t he?”

Schlatt was for some reason cackling at that “Oh I bet he will win, won’t he? This would be the best time for some betting!”

Tommy, Y/N and Wilbur all nodded saying things like “Of course he will win. My brother is the best”

Soon the group begun to fall into their usual banter. Tommy and Tubbo were doing something next to them, only sometimes getting back into the conversation. Schlatt and Wilbur on the other hand were talking about how they could start bets and maybe earn some money because surely Techno will win. Y/N and Puffy listened in only to interject at times to root them back down. Both made sure they wouldn’t end up doing anything too stupid, though they too were in on it and ready to help out.

In the end the whole group was sitting on the ground and writing their plan down on the paper Tommy brought with him as suddenly a loud voice boomed over the crowd announcing that the fighting tournament will soon begin.

Tubbo looked absolutely horrified “No! I didn’t have a chance to check out the candy yet!”

Schaltt sighed and gave Tubbo a reassuring pat on his back “Don’t worry kiddo they will still be here after the tournament.”

With that the group begun walking to the marked place for the fighting. All the while Schlatt was grumbling that this was way too early and he couldn’t act on his betting plans.

“There are a lot of people.” Y/N noted as they came closer to their goal.

Indeed there were a surprising amount of people standing around the place. If it was difficult to get through the crowd before, now it seemed almost impossible. It was almost comical how the crowd seemingly turned into a wall of steel as the announcer begun his speech in order to greet all the people watching.

“Ugh, I can barely see anything.” Wilbur whined as he moved on his toes. Wilbur was the tallest of the group so when he had problems seeing anything Y/N instinctively already gave up. Maybe one day it would be the other way around seeing as they all were still growing but for now this was the reality of the situation.

Tommy was frantically jumping into the air trying to see anything that happened. He didn’t say it but he wanted to make sure to not miss out on any second of Techno’s fights. He was his older brother after all.

“Hey, Schlatt?” Tubbo almost whispered as he tugged at his older brother’s shirt.

Schlatt barely made any proper attempt to look over the crowd probably still busy thinking about his lost business opportunity. He tilted his head down to look at Tubbo “Hm?”

Suddenly Tubbo’s unsure expression turned into a serious one. While Wilbur, Tommy and Y/N were confused about this, Puffy begun to snicker.

“Aw, come on!” Schlatt drawled out but as soon as Tubbo got his pouting face out it was over for him.

He rolled his eyes and knelt down. With the help of Puffy, Tubbo was soon sitting on Schlatt’s shoulders, overlooking the crowd.

For some reason Tommy looked absolutely betrayed “This is unfair!”

“And why is that?” was all that Tubbo asked smugly. He was grabbing onto Schlatt’s horns which lead to him involuntarily yanking around his head whenever Tubbo himself moved around. Annoyed Schlatt gave his younger brother a playful slap on his arm as a sign to knock it off.

Tommy crossed his arms “Hey, Wilby! Wait no, I’m not a child anymore.”

Before Wilbur could even do his obligatory cooing whenever Tommy used his nickname or before Y/N could remind him that he was indeed still a child and younger than Tubbo he turned towards them instead.

“Y/N! You carry me and fly up that is way cooler than sitting on someone’s shoulders like some two year old.”

This took Y/N quite by surprise “What?”

“Dad said you are ready to fly and you spent like most of your free time already gliding or flying about so like basically the same thing right?”

“No! This is completely different! Besides I’m pretty sure my wings right now are barely able to carry my own weight! To that I have no idea how to take off from ground!”

Tommy’s bottom lip begun to quiver. Both Wilbur and Y/N knew it was fake but it was still a weakness for the two.

Y/N tried grabbing Wilbur’s sleeve for support but he was already looking at them with sad eyes himself “I mean Tommy just wants to see his big brother win, which is understandable right? At least worth a try?”

It was Y/N’s time to look betrayed but their expression soon got exchange by that one of defeat “One… One try. If that doesn’t work out I will give up.”

So the group walked back away from the crowd to have more space, Tubbo still happily sitting on Schlatt’s shoulders. He looked annoyed but Puffy knew that he was just as happy as she was that Tubbo had obviously a good time.

Y/N would spent a few minutes just trying to take off the ground on their own saying that they would first need to be a bit in the air before being able to grab Tommy. Wilbur was just watching with an amused smile on his face. Oh he was almost certain how this will end in disaster but he was just too curious to see how exactly.

After multiple running starts Y/N managed to get a few feet off into the air, flying directly towards Tommy so they could pick him up. They more or less bodychecked into their younger brother but still managed to pick him up and for a short moment it looked like the two were indeed a few feet above the height of the crowd.

Tommy was screaming partially out of fear but partially out of excitement. Y/N was so concentrated on flying and holding onto Tommy they didn’t even try to look out for Techno on the ground. They stayed semi stable in the air for good two seconds before both suddenly noticed they were losing altitude rapidly.

Now both were screaming as Y/N desperately tried to glide towards the hay bails that the town put up as decoration but with the added weight of Tommy they still plummeted towards the ground pretty fast.

The next thing Y/N remembers was that they were surrounded by hay and that their whole body was feeling heavy and sore. Tommy was groaning as he tried his best to get out of the hay and off their sibling while Y/N first made sure to calmly fold their wings back against their back as they slowly got out of the hay as well.

Suddenly two strong hands grabbed the still disoriented Y/N and helped them properly back to their feet only to be met by an angry looking Philza.

“What on Ender were you thinking?”

“Oh hey dad!” Y/N croaked out as they avoided any eye contact with him. Instead they were busy plucking hay out of their wings. Due to the fall there was a lot of hay trapped between feathers, there were also a few bent feathers that felt uncomfortable at best.

Tommy was sheepishly standing next to them also avoiding eye contact.

“I told you to get to the tournament and wait for me! I told you guys I would make sure to find you so why did you do whatever the hell you just did?” Philza rambled off.

“Yeah guys why did you two do that?” Wilbur was now approaching his family as well, including their other three friends who followed suit.

Y/N let go of their wing as they turned towards their older brother with an angry frown “You encouraged us! Don’t act like you are the only innocent person here! Aren’t you as our big brother supposed to stop us or something when we are stupid?”

Philza sighed “Okay, we deal with this later but at least tell me why?”

“We wanted to see Techno but we couldn’t get past the crowd!” Tommy answered.

“My fights will only start in like half an hour dude. Didn’t you guys listen to the announcements?”

To their surprise Technoblade appeared from behind Philza. He looked bored but still had a somewhat smug smile on his face. Who wouldn’t feel a tiny big smug when your younger siblings gets into trouble with dad for something that was absolutely their fault and you were luckily this time no part of it.

“You three are in trouble! We will go back so Techno won’t be too late for when it’s his turn but once we are back home it’s three weeks of chores for all of you.”

This earned him a murmur of “Okay, dad.” And “But we didn’t do anything bad!”

After that the day ended up pretty normally. They had their trouble for the day so they continued on with following Philza back to the tournament place. He made sure that all the kids had the best places in front so they could watch as Techno absolutely destroyed the other kids.

Jordan joined them as well. Philza didn’t spend any time waiting on telling him how Y/N and Tommy crashed into one of his decorations. He wasn’t angry but did chew out his own kids a little bit for not even attempting to stop them.

For some reason this was the day Y/N always fondly thought back on. They got into their typical trouble that day but also spend a ton of time with their family and friends back in their hometown. Enjoying seeing Techno beat others up and of course winning the tournament to which then Phil and Jordan bought the kids a ton of candy from the stalls.

Yes, they loved their family so dearly and would do anything for them.

So when a letter arrived from Wilbur that informed them that a few days ago a friend betrayed him which led to him losing his first life of three as well for Tommy, Tubbo and their nephew Fundy it felt like their heart got ripped out of their chest.

Y/N was still living at their old childhood home with Philza but both were only rarely at home. The two traveled around the world independently from each other using the old cottage as a place to rest in between. Wilbur probably addressed the letter knowing that this was the most reliable way to contact his family.

Reaching Technoblade who was training out of country was almost impossible at this point in time.

Y/N got out a piece of paper and wrote a letter for their father.

“Dad, I’m going to visit Wil and Tommy. Love, Y/N”

This was all that needed to be said.

They put the letter including the letter from Wilbur visibly on the table so Philza would see it as soon as he got back home. They did this sometimes in order to talk to Philza as well as the other way around so both were always looking out for messages on the table once they got back home.

Y/N grabbed their old netherite sword they got way back from Techno as a gift and begun thinking about what to take with them for the flight towards L’Manberg. If they fly it would only take a few days to reach the place but they also couldn’t carry a lot of things with them.

“Hell of a reason to visit your family after a long time, huh.”

His brother may be gone, but he won't stand to have Hashirama's dream trampled so. And if he has to cause a civil war or burn the village down to the ground? Well that depends on how much resistance he meets. All Tobirama does know for certain is that no child will suffer underneath the protection of Konoha and if he has to take them in and care for them himself, then he will.

Hardest of hearts by blackkat Oneshot, Gen, look I really like blackkat’s naruto fic okay, part one of a completed three part series, all three parts are great, Fix its are the best, Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Time Travel, Time Travel Fix It, Orochimaru redemption story, the sheer shadenfreude of one baddie fucking over another baddie, in this case Danzo, Obito has a ‘bad guy but not that bad of a guy’ solidarity moment with Orochimaru at the start and I loved it so there’s that, featuring a low key constantly horrified at this turn of events Minato,

Summary: Orochimaru gets one more chance. Just maybe, it will be enough to save him—and the entire world as well.

Nukenin by WhisperingDarkness Gen, dimension travel, team seven, team as family, Kakashi actually being a good sensei even when he’s not a sensei at all, possessive kakashi, Team Seven is his team, Kinda Fluffy, Protective Kakashi, the ‘this might as well happen’ adaptability is real, Kakashi adopts team seven and team seven adopts kakashi, even though he’s illegal, 4 chapter fic, marked as complete as author doesn’t plan to continue it, but even taking these chapters as stand alone this fic is great,

Summary:  In the sealed scroll he finds a Bingo Book – his own page marking him as an S-class nukenin with flee-on-sight orders.  “Ok. I’m glad you’re awake,” and, yup, that’s Minato-sensei’s voice. Kakashi falls back down against the bed, closing his eyes. It’s too short of a way down, and he clenches hands that are too tiny and feeble and not his in dog-print sheets he hasn’t owned for decades.

Summary: Hatake Kakashi was a shinobi, and as a shinobi, the only people who could give him orders were his military superiors. The idea that a Council made up of civilians and peers was under the impression they could give him orders...displeased him. Or: He was ordered to pass Team 7. He was fine with that, until they actually passed.

Summary: It’s just… he’d thought, given his fight against Neji and then his confrontation with Gaara, that someone would finally really acknowledge what he’d done.  That beyond Iruka-sensei’s crushing hug and Kakashi-sensei’s absent pat, someone would actually notice that he’d won against both of them.

That he’d beaten a genius on his own and then had battled another jinchūriki to a stand still.

So while he hadn’t really expected to be promoted too he’d still ...
