The argument that comics canon is inherently better than any fanon/headcanon and should be followed always is so funny when combined with the fact that every single person who reads canon has at least one writer/editor they want to launch into the sun for what they did to the characters they were in charge of.

#The absolutism is just wild to me #Sometimes canon blows chunks and should be retconned away and not spoken about again #Sometimes fanon/headcanon makes me want to chew glass with how hard it misses what I think is the point #Both things can be true #It's Canon Casserole you pick out the stuff you like and throw it all together and leave the rest in the trash #And which bits I want to keep is gonna change based on Rule of Funny/Cool/Drama/whatever it's for #It's the omniverse now baby I am beholden to no one. i love the (slightly cracky) premise that the newer batkids like duke who weren't around during jason's genuine "i hate the batfam" era would sometimes forget that it even happened so there'd be times where it would go:

Tim: where are you going

Jason: got a call from a friend in the alley, some fuckers need bullets in their knees. tell B and i'll kill you

Tim: no you won't

Jason: i dunno, i almost did it twice, third time's the charm

Tim: boooo you'll have to try harder

I am knowingly putting myself in the line of fire here).#I'm willingly putting him in Wen Qing's borrowed cloak and assuming people take him wearing it as like...a war trophy.#Historians will revise this moment later on but for now he *is* a hero of that war.

The rest were just the emojis I use the most turned into scugs lol #You get to decide which was which lmfaoooo #Also here's some lore: a while back I made 'hunterwheeze'#and the bit was everyone liked it so much they wanted it in the server #So I said bet and threw a bunch of emotes to the staff to hear their thoughts #And way more than I thought got added!#Except for hunterwheeze 🤣🤣🤣#Instead they chose a super edited screenshot of some animation frame I made a few months ago I added last minute for giggles #Which I was DELIGHTED by. [through gritted teeth] this is awesome man this will be good for character development ok ok ok. ok?#its also got something to do with Pearl having the red creep in. i think #because during SL Gem was like. nearly idolising the Scarlet Pearl persona while vaguely aware that her own reputation has a similar effect #and yknow. the horrors. the fact that their image is so heavily built on what others deem them to be and they can only play into it #but by the end of SL Gem gets ‘betrayed’ by this persona that she looked up to #and also her own ‘GeminiSlay’ intimidating image is also starting to fall apart. partly of her own will #and now shes watching Pearl slowly turn red again. and this time she knows its not good for her or Pearl #so shes distancing herself from it. shes ‘trying to fix her reputation’. she sees Pearl falling into it again and just. no. i dont love you #you betrayed me last season #but on Pearl’s end of things she’s already deep into the idea that as long as you say you ‘forgive’ someone then everything thats happened #in the past doesn’t matter and they can all be friends. and nooo absolutely no grudges will be held. no emotional repression here #so. because thats happened to her in her own team she thinks the same can happen with her and Gem #and thats so. im going to blow myself up now

Thinking about people not liking what happened at the end of dawntrail like… hmm.

Did you not remember the stuff with the Yok Huy. Nobody is gone if you remember them. The phrase that’s been with us for nearly the entire game, “For those we have lost….” Emet Selch entrusting us not only with the legacy of humanity in general but specifically with the memories of the Ancients and Elpis.

Just because people are gone doesn’t mean they aren’t still with us.

But the people of Neo-Alexandria are kept from that. They can’t remember anyone they’ve lost because their memories were stolen and locked away in an eternal purgatory, unable to move on or be reincarnated. The quest where you go to the graves in Heritage Found was a big moment where I was like. Huh. This fucking sucks actually.

The endless are just computer simulations, and they exist because Sphene can’t bear to let them go. Can’t even let her living citizens mourn or carry on legacies.

And that’s not even mentioning the fact that she needs the souls of innocent *living* people to power this all.

I think it’s a really good metaphor for the digital age, becoming disconnected from our irl communities, uploading your entire life on social media. Profiles of loved ones who have passed on. AI chat bots providing temporary comfort but no real human connection. All of that technology requiring enough energy to slowly but surely contribute to the destruction of our planet.

It all seems pretty clear to me as an allegory but like, I guess some people just didn’t make that connection? Or maybe they just don’t think about all the AI stuff in the same way I do.

Thank you all for being so patient with me, I know it was a long hiatus.

My health was struggling, my arm was (is) hurting, and I decided it wasn't worth it. I'd rather be slow!

So thank you for giving me that grace, and I hope you'll be there with me for the rest of the series.

#like straight up. it's not worth it. idc how many people get mad at me #i would rather work fuckin. anything else than maintain this impossible schedule and keep hurting myself #if thats what it takes to do comics full time. then i can't do comics full time. simple as that!#i hope that for my next work i can have a healthier schedule and still make this work as my job #but if not. I'm never going back #i can't do it. 3 more years at this pace will take my ability to draw #anyways. its really good!!!#like genuinely i can feel a marked improvement in my skills #which is WILD!!!
