It is decidedly not what she expected to hear, and briefly, Luna is dumbfounded at this uncharacteristic suggestion. Her brother is nothing if not a pragmatist, and Luna wasn’t aware he had any fondness for such things. But the prospect of sharing in such frivolity with him is too happy a one to pass up, and a smile that has long since been lost finds its way into her eyes. ❝Oh! You mean the one that used to make us salads in the shape of faces when we were little? Can we also stay in that bed-and-breakfast near the water? As I recall, if you stand on the balcony at high tide, you will almost certainly be splashed.❞ Setting her cup down, Luna rises to her feet. She had dressed for training today; thus, her attire is all wrong for such a thing. ❝Give me a few moments to be ready. I shall meet you back here shortly.❞ Luna takes the familiar path back to her room with a new bounce in her step. Returning a good 45 minutes later with a heavy overnight bag, a pale blue sundress and a matching ribbon around her wicker hat; her Oracle whites relegated to the shoes she shall surely kick off the minute they find sand. ❝Do not just stand there, let us go, or all the good tables during lunch shall be taken!❞
⋞⁘♔⁘⋟ For some reason, that particular reaction was not the one Ravus expected from Lunafreya. As her excitement seemed to flourish in front of his very eyes, the realization of what he had suggested settled in. Oh. Did... he remember how to properly portray himself as an older brother, rather than a jailkeeper anymore?
Yes, the balcony. Frankly, he had no recollection of these face-shaped salads she spoke of either, but her growing happiness pleased him all the same. With a quiet sigh, he excused himself to his own room to gather some belongings of his own.
Not wanting to keep her waiting, he neatly placed a few garments and a few specific items in a bag, then made way back toward the foyer. His intent took less than ten minutes of preparation, so he settled onto one of the benches while he waited. He was reminded of times in his youth where he had carried bags and waited outside shops for his mother and sister. Would this be similar to that, he wondered? Not that he had any objection to the thought. There was a pleasant nostalgia behind the idea.
The familiar sound of her approach finally echoed along the marble walls and Ravus rose to stand, setting the strap of his bag over his shoulder while he reached for Lunafreya's to carry. "How do you know which tables are the good ones?" he asked genuinely, opening the front doors for them. "Do you visit there often...?"

Kurita recently published a birthday picture for Luna and... I just wanted to appreciate how in recent years he has already posted twice drawings of Luna, showing her as... a regular woman.
Happy and smiling.
He presents her not as the Oracle we see in the game and movie, but as the young woman behind the role. The one Gentiana speaks about that warmed her heart. The one that wrote and shared a personal notebook with Noctis for 12 years. The little sister that Ravus tried to protect in his own way.
We are used to see only the Oracle that the story needs of her so desperately, and that she dutifully delivers, so it's nice and welcome to see her on her birthday as she actually needs to be celebrated: a kind and smiling young woman.
Happy Birthday Lunafreya ❤️🌙✨

Taking the Leide
"They're scouting..." Tandem hissed under his breath as the trio kept their backs turned toward the MT units patrolling the nearby streets.
Flames were already lapping at Primam's palm as her other arm went around Lunafreya's shoulders to keep her shielded with her own body. Like her brother, her brow was knit together in both concern and apprehension for the situation they found themselves in. This was just another hiccup in their journey toward Duscae...hopefully not a large one.
"No magic," Tandem said, having glanced at the warm glow that nestled within his sister's hand. She cast him an annoyed look, clearly somewhat on edge given the recent history of Insomnia falling to Niflheim's infiltration. However, she huffed a silent sigh, closing her fist and extinguishing the flame.
"Should it come to combat, know that I am not useless," Lunafreya uttered, keeping her voice low so as not to draw attention to them.
"You're telling me you got proper combat training in that gilded prison of yours?" Tandem breathed, clearly doubting the Lady Oracle's claim. "If it comes to combat, Prim will keep you covered. I'll handle taking out any of the MTs. Leave it to the Arms of the King. You're too valuable for any mistakes to be made."
Lunafreya tensed, keeping quiet despite the offense she felt. Of course they would be ignorant to anything other than her being a political prisoner. But she leaned into Primam, nodding. Were anything to derail her from beseeching the Astrals' aid in Noctis' journey as the True King...then everything really would fall to ruin.

like i said. if you wanna suffer ill be happy to watch. but also the only thing i know about ff 15 is that one max0r video which while very funny is probably not 100% accurate to the story
now this is giving me too much power. I'll be happy (and sad) to oblige. And give you a quick overview.
and yeah i doubt that one video is a good description of it. so.
cracks fingers.
One of us is going to end up crying by the end of this. it's going to be me. but you're welcome to join me.
Final Fantasy 15 is the story of Noctis Lucis Caelum, crown prince of the kingdom of Lucis.
The Kingdom of Lucis is facing a crisis as the ever-growing Niflheim Empire is trying to expend and take the kingdom over, at the same time as a sickness called Starscrouge is slowly killing people. When the night falls, daemons come in the dark, and ever since those events have started happening, nights are growing longer in longer.
As the Empire of Niflheim is discussing peace treaty with the Kingdom, a clause is made on their contract to have Noctis marry Princess Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, who's been held captive by Niflheim for about a decade, and who has been Noctis's childhood friend and penpal. She is the Oracle, chosen by a prophecy to be the only person capable of healing the Starscrouge before the sickness takes hold.
King Regis decides to send his son to his marriage-to-be right before the peace treaty is officially signed, accompanied by his three most trusted friends - Ignis Scientia, who's been working as a royal advisor, cook, caretaker ever since they were children, Gladiolus Amicitia, who's been Noctis' bodyguard and royal trainer for a very long time, and Prompto Argentum, Noctis' school bestie who, despite having no relation to the royal family, is the only person outside of it Noctis managed to get close with.
But soon after their departure, the peace ceremony goes array- King Regis is murdered and the Kingdom of Lucis fall to the Empire, now leading a manhunt for Noctis to kill the royal lineage, and recover the Ring of Lucis, a powerful artefact carried through the family that, especially once coupled with the Magic Crystal that is the source of all magic in Lucis, can connect its wielder with the Kings of Old to access tremendous power left by the Gods.
See, there is a prophecy in the Lucis lineage that one day the One True King Of Light, chosen by the Gods, will be able to purge the world of the Starscrouge and Daemons, ending this curse at all cost. and, as you can imagine, this burden will fall on Noctis's shoulders as he goes through his new journey to awake the old gods and reunites the soul weapons of the previous Kings in order to unlock the full potential of his power.
The game mostly plays as an open world where you explore the valley with your besties. There is a lot that is very difficult to communicate that is just about how it feels like a camping simulator. You don't want to stay up at night for too long because Daemons are overleveled and bitch to kill, so you try to level up, do your missions, and enjoy your time connecting with your friends, learning more about them.
From Prompto's insecurities about his place in this journey, to Ignis's unwavering loyalty that would oversee Noctis's protection to the end, to Gladio devoting himself to being the shield even when everything starts to fall apart, you end up caring a lot for this group of misfits who are just trying to enjoy their journey knowing it might be their last.
You spend the game mostly having fun with them. Finding place to camp, new recipes for Ignis to cook, Prompto is constantly taking pictures and selfies to remember the journey by, you stop to every ponds to be sure Noctis can enjoy all of the fishing he can, you meet up with Gladio's little sister, it's really a really heartful game in ways that are very difficult to articulate.
... until shit hit the fan.
You're introduced to the real antagonist of the game, the Empire's chancelor, Ardyn Izunia, who's been pulling the strings all along, while also helping Noctis unlock the powers of the Gods.
And when finally it's time for you to go find Lunafreya for their wedding and hopefully linking the power of the Oracle to the King of Light in order to finally purge it all.....
Ardyn will brutally murder Lunafreya in front of Noctis, killing with her any possibility to stop the Starscrouge and the endless nights around the corner. The death itself is pretty heartbreaking, showcasing Noctis' very difficult time to deal with her loss, and Luna was defined by how she was willing to do everything to carry her duty to the end, so it was really sad.. but Luna was not very well written unfortunately (she appears maybe 15mins in the whole game up until this point) so i don't have as much to say about it :( it was super heartbreaking but yeah... yeah.
During this confrontation, Ignis will lose his eyes trying to protect Noctis, as Noctis was unconscious and Ignis grabbed the Ring of Lucis to ask for the powers of the Gods to protect him, and the Gods burn his eyes off. (it's so hard to properly explain but Ignis becoming blind ends up developping a lot of problems in the plot, of course, but especially in the gameplay. Like you spend the game having Ignis cook all sort of things and exitedly tell you about what he's going to cook today, and then your first campire after this incident you see the only food you can cook is some canned bean and it's just. so sudden in the way to tell you Ignis is changed for ever by it.)
Shortly afterward, Ardyn will create illusions that will push Noctis to push Prompto off from a moving train, resulting in Prompto getting kidnapped and experimented on by the Empire.
all while Gladio is losing his faith in Noctis because everyone is expecting so much from him, that they're their only hope, and yet Noctis is so lost in his grief that he doesn't focus on the bigger picture, while everyone he loves is losing everything around them.
When you finally decide to take down the Empire's HQ to get Prompto's back, is when a lot of truth starts to unravel.
You learn that Prompto is the clone of one of the highest funding members of the Empire, who was created to become one of the mindless drone enemies you fight the whole game, but has been smuggled out of the labs before he could be turned as such - only keeping a mark on his wrist reminding him of who he truly is. As much as Prompto always wanted to be Noctis' friend, he always feared that him being a clone, a failed weapon made by the enemies, would eventually disgust Noctis, and he feared all his life that Noctis would turn against him. so you can imagine the panic for Prompto when Noctis did attack him due to the illusions.
Most importantly though, you learn that Ardyn Izunia is actually Ardyn Lucis Caelum - one of the prince of Olds, the first person who was prophetized to be the King of Light. Bahamut himself, god of gods, gave him for missions to purge the Starscrouge, and Ardyn did just that, and took all of the Starscrouge in the world inside of his body, eradicating it from this world... and when he came to ask what he was supposed to do now, the Gods turned on him and left him to his fate, as he was not the one to actually serve to finish this prophecy. (if i recall correctly they legit say it wouldn't be narratively satisfying. Fuck the Gods, fuck Bahamut, all the homies hate Bahamut no matter the universe.)
Then, as the gods refused to clean him from the scrouge, his brothe, Somnus, tried to kill him before locking him into a magical prison and a magical slumber for the centuries that followed. Somnus became known as the Savior of Lucis, he took the credit for the actions of his brother, and build his kingdom on his ashes, continuing his royal line until Noctis' birth out of it.
When the Niflheim Empire started to come to power, they freed Ardyn, and figured out how to be able to use his power -- Ardyn could unlean the Starscrouge inside of him and have it spread into the world.... and we learn that people who "die" from the Starscrouge actually become Daemons, creature of the night, and the more people become Daemons, the longer the night will last.
And so Ardyn unleashed all of his power, all of his suffering, but himself has been turned into a Daemon at this point due to the sickness ravaging his body for centuries. He only feels pain, and he cannot die, for the sickness made him immortal. So while the Empire woke him up to use him, Ardyn decided instead to use the Empire to take revenge on the descendant of his brother, destroy the world he had sworn to save, and finally by the end, being killed by the True King of Light in the way the Gods will find narratively satisfying.
And finally, as our four companions are trying to escape the forteress, Noctis finds the Crystal, and with all the power he has gathered since then, and prompted by Ardyn telling him that the only way for him to know how to defeat him, Noctis approached it... and was taken in by the Crystal.
In there he met the Kings of Old who told him about the prophecy. The King of Light will pure the world of the Starscrouge and the Demons by taking out Ardyn for good.... but since Ardyn cannot die, his soul will always come back into his body, the King of Light must die as well in order to kill Ardyn's soul in the afterlife once its there.
Noctis therefore learns that by the end of his journey, the only thing that awaits is his own suicide in order to finally put Ardyn to rest.
The Crystal kept Noctis in it for about ten years. For ten years Noctis could do nothing but wait, as the Night fully took the lands over and destroyed everything. Only small camps here and there managed to survive and fight -- and his three friends have been trying to do their best for the people's survival, while being torn apart at the sudden loss of Noctis that day.
When Noctis finally returns, he can meet with his friends one last time. And tell them what awaits him.
youtube
For one last time you team up with your dearest friends, all of them having to be aware that they're walking you out so you can kill yourself to finally bring peace.
youtube
Before entering the final room to the final boss fight, Noctis turns to his friends, and ask Prompto to give him one of the pictures he took. You go through all the pictures you took as Prompto as you decide which picture Noctis will hold on in his last moments, holding on knowing they were the people who brought him on this journey to start with. In there Noctis will share his final words with them.
And finally you leave your friends behind. Finally it's time to fight Ardyn as he himself only awaits for death. Two dead men giving each other a last fight, two pawns by the prophecy made by the Gods, tool in a narrative that never saw them as humans, no matter how hard they clang to their humanity and to the people they loved.
One last final fight, finally killing Ardyn. And watching Noctis climbs on the throne of his father, and empale himself with all of the swords of the previous kings, in order to finish this fight in the afterlife.
And so the game ends. Ardyn is dead. The Starscrouge and Daemons are purged from this world. the Kingdom of Lucis can live on and see better days. And Noctis is dead as well, standing on the throne of his father.
In the last moments of the game you see him in the afterlife where he reunited with Lunafreya. He's holding the picture you picked in the previous scene. Looking over his friends one last time.
And then in case it's not enough you have the DLCs. Ardyn's DLC tell you more about how the Gods set them up for narrative satisfaction to start with. Then you have all three friends' DLC, set at points in game when you don't know what happened to them. But all of them ends with some final goodbye of some sort.
Gladio's DLC is the most underwhelming one in general so i don't really know what to say about it, and it doesn't really have a big payoff.
Prompto's show how he felt, abandonned in the snow when Noctis almost killed him. Having to wrestle with his existence as a clone, and figuring out if Noctis even wants him by his side. This DLC ends on a last conversation between Prompto and Noctis right before Noctis entered the crystal, in which Noctis tells Prompto he hopes he'll be by his side as he'll try to be a good king. Prompto promise he will be, always.
youtube
And then. Ignis' DLC. god that fucking DLC.
You really see the events in which Ignis stole the Ring to try to protect Noctis there, the event that rendered him blind. You see how much he fights out of devotion for Noctis. And you learn that when he put the ring on, the Kings of Old told him Noctis was going to die. Ignis spent his life protecting Noctis. In fact, you go through various flashback of their first meeting. Ignis has to learn that the kid he's protected his whole life, is going to die, and there's nothing he can do about it, because this is the fate that has been drawn on him.
On the first ending of the DLC, There is one last goodbye. Where Ignis wants to follow Noctis to the end and Noctis has to stop him, telling him that he wants him to live on.
youtube
(so that's the scene where i was crying so hard i ended up tripping in the stairs)
BUT THEN Ignis's DLC has an alternative ending. an ending where when Ignis hears the plans the Gods had planned for Noctis, he tells them, screw you. I'm never going to let it happen to him. I'll fight all of you if i have to and i'll save Noctis from this cruel fate you have planned.
And so in this ending, Ignis doesn't let Noctis walk into the Crystal and they work together, in an alternative way, until they can save him and put him on the throne.
and let me be clear: this ending is impossible by the game's lore. It's purely a fanservice fix-it ending, a what if, Ignis' ultimate proof of love that is enough to screw over the prophecy hundred of years in the making.
Where Ignis manages to save Noctis so Noctis can actually live on as the King he was raised to be. For ever at his side.
SO. WELL. WELL. I NEVER RECOVERED.
(and i am in fact crying as i'm writing all of this)
all of that while the main theme of the game is a Stand By Me cover by Florence + The Machine that will forever rip your heart and will leave you crying your eyes out as you finish this game, especially after the true ending, watching Noctis' die, and then hearing this fucking damn song.
youtube
Anyway i never fucking recovered from it. Like, never.
Like, even a summary doesn't do it justice. My first playthrough took me hundreds of hours. I spent hundred of hours with those kids. Enjoying their banters, seeing them protect each other, fight with one another. There's so much of their dynamic that is so deep into the gameplay, the way your companions will check on you during a fight, the moments they'll pause to have a high five, those moments of pure happiness where you know they're having fun by each other's side.
and Noctis being such a good character you really get to love and for what. And for what!!!!!!!! to get him killed by the end???? like for crying out loud. literally.
So yeah that's the speedrun of what FF15 is about. It's about tearing my heart out of my chest, that's what it is. (and others themes but you get my point)
Anyway. Yeah. Here you are. Here you know FF15's story.
and btw there was a little webseries set right before the event of the games, telling you how each of those friendships started. if you ever goot curious through reading all of this, i definitely recommend it. (the playlist is from newest to oldest though so be sure to watch on the right order)
was it worth it.
#*puts hands on my face and starts screaming*#i started a replay not so long ago#it's fun when you try to pretend the ending isn't there#but then you remember the ending in every fucking things you do and you cry :)#any mistakes in the summary is due to me being an emotional mess if i ever did anything wrong#ichareply#ichafantalks ffxv#anonymous#sorry i gave up and posted videos but you will watch them. you will get me. you're welcome.#also if you're here from gbf all the seiyuu are in gbf#in japanese noctis' is Aglovale's seiyuu. Prompto's elmott. Gladio's Deliford. And Ignis is Mamoru Miyano (not in gbf. yet. but you know hi#im more used to the english bc i played in english tho#(mostly bc the subs kept jumping and some banters weren't subbed so i had to compromise)#(the english cast is very good tho)#but yeah. yeah.

Until Darkness Descends
CHAPTER: 27
FANDON: Final Fantasy XV
MAIN PAIR: Ardyn Izunia x Reader
SEC PAIR: Gladiolus Amicitia x Reader
RATING: Explicit
A few days passed when Noctis received a phone call from Gladiolus’ sister, Iris. Your heart fluttered with joy after finding out that she was alive and well. She and a few other refugees migrated to Lestallum after the attack on the capital. Dread whipped your gut when the prince made up his mind to meet her in the city.
You wanted to see Iris. She was the kid sister of your boyfriend and a constant in your life since you were ten years old. But the thought of revisiting that wretched place caused sweat to burst out of your pores like a leaking dam. You offered little conversation during the drive there, too busy trying to unwind the knots in your stomach.
Once you arrived, the first thing you noticed was the sweltering heat, how sticky and heavy the air was and the way the building swam in the humidity. The voices of the city rode on the wind as Ignis pulled the car into a parking lot, the chatter of the common folk, the thunk and grind of machinery, and the impatient honk of car horns resurrected memories you thought would remain dead.
Your shoulders were hiked up to your ears and your arms rippled with tension as you climbed out of the car. In your worry, your bottom lip found its way between your teeth. Your steps were heavy as though they were weighed down by shackles. Fear lifted its head in your chest and you wondered if anyone would recognize you.
Would the sight of your face drive an excited crowd in your direction? Would the temple priestess of your youth choose this time to traverse the city and notice you? The questions stirred a sour storm in your belly. But as you walked by the Lestallum people, you noticed no lingering glances, no turning of heads, and no excited gasps.
Nobody noticed you, you were just another face in the crowd. Your shoulders lowered an inch. There was no reason to worry. Ten years had passed since anyone from this city had seen you. Your hair was longer, your cheeks more narrow, and your limbs longer. You didn’t look like the same girl who performed miracles on the city streets. You were safe.
A sigh of relief fell from your lips and took your worry and stress with it. Meandering through the network of stairs and side streets, you and the boys stumbled upon the hotel that hosted Iris. Walking through the open doors, your face lit up the moment you saw Iris. You rushed towards her and pulled the girl into your arms. Jared, the Amicitia family’s butler, along with his grandson, Talcott, were also with her. You hugged both of them as well, happy to see they were all alive.
After catching up, Iris led you and the boys to her room. The atmosphere around the six of you became heavy, stripped of the jovial tone it previously had. She sat on her bed and told your group everything that happened that day in the capital.
Regret lunged through your body as your mind brought her words to life. You should’ve been there. Maybe the king would still be alive. Or maybe you would’ve died too. A cold shiver looped around your spine. You looked around the room and saw the same conflicted emotions on the boys’ faces. Survivor’s guilt was a gash that refused to heal.
You thought about Noctis’ childhood sweetheart, Lunafreya, the Oracle. The girl he was supposed to marry yesterday. She was said to be present at the treaty signing that day in the capital. She too was reported deceased. Your brows knitted together and your fingernails sunk deep into your biceps. You hoped the news was wrong. They also reported that prince Noctis was dead, but he was obviously alive and breathing right next to you. Perhaps the same could be said for the late princess.
That night you laid awake in bed. Dry eyes stared up at the ceiling, counting specks of dust that hung from the smooth white surface. Gladiolus snored softly beside you, his arm draped across your waist like a vise keeping you in place. A blade of moonlight slashed through the window, beckoning your attention to the city lights.
Sighing, you sat up in bed and gently moved Gladiolus’ arm from your waist. With no hope for sleep, you got dressed and made your way to the door. The air was much cooler at night. The wind carried a crispness that reminded you of Tenebrae in the cusp of winter. You pulled your jacket tighter around you and walked with your gaze lowered.
Soon the pebble infested cement ground was replaced with the crunch of grass underfoot. You lifted your head to find a secluded park, the same one you visited many times before in the past. A gentle breeze combed through the abandoned place, causing a swing to creak as a sashayed back and forth in the wind.
Taking a seat on the bench, you studied the maze of grass beneath you, as though the curved tips of the narrow leaves would deliver hidden truths to you. Another breeze whipped through the park and made the trees rustle and sway to an inaudible song.
Shoulders slouched, you buried your hands in your pockets. You felt so lost. Everything that had happened recently had chipped away at whatever confidence you developed behind the citadel walls. Everything was so much easier, so much more clear, while you were in Insomnia. You trained hard during the day and went to sleep with aching muscles. You had a purpose, had meaning, now you were lost at sea with no land in sight.
You rubbed your hands together, your paralysis lifted, but your inadequacy soaked deep into your bones nonetheless. You worked so hard to get to where you were now, only to be crushed by an ineptitude you didn’t realize was still there. No matter how far you run from this city, you would always be that little girl only useful for cheap tricks. Your talents laid in draining grieving parents and sickly people of their wealth, not in aiding the courts.
These past eight days proved that. Your vision swam and you closed your eyes against the tears. The back of your neck suddenly heated up and your ears perked at the sound of approaching footsteps. Just another night traveler, you thought. It wasn’t until you heard a satiny chuckle that you turned around.
“All by your lonesome yet again.” The honeyed tone wrapped around you like a heated blanket. “I’m certain I’ve seen this before, perhaps this is what they call deja vu?” Amber light hit a crop of auburn hair as he stepped under the streetlamp, illuminating the slight grin on his face.
“Perhaps it is.” You said in reply. “What are you doing in Lestallum? If you aren’t careful a girl might think you’re following her.” As soon as the joke left your lips, an icy ripple raced down your legs. You swallowed a lump in your throat, your mouth gone dry. This was the second time you crossed paths within the past few days, you weren’t sure if you could chalk it up to coincidence anymore.
Anxiety stitched its way up your spine, pulling your muscles taut. What if Ardyn was following you? Suddenly all you could think about was the anger in his eyes, the fire in his grip, and the poison in his words. Could that easily become reality? You stared at Ardyn as he took a seat next to you. Your heart stuttered as though it too was lost for words.
Goosebumps scattered across your arms and you looked down at the ground. You’ve never seen Ardyn angry and possessive before, but what if he was possessive of you? Was that why you kept seeing him the past eight days? Was he really following you?
Your mind spiraled and that’s when he chuckled. “Quite the contrary, my dear. I am simply here on business, Lestallum has always been hospitable to magicians. And with my previous engagement now canceled I am free to return to my roots. I see you're of the same mind.”
Your chest deflated with a breath, your anxiety reduced to a simmer. His explanation made sense. You don’t know why your mind resorted to nonsensical tales. The goosebumps licking your arms sunk underneath your skin and you tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear. “I guess you could say that.” You said. The air became still between you, as though the entire world stopped to watch your encounter.
Just like the last meeting, the space between you was heavy with an awkwardness that wasn’t there before. It robbed your mouth of moisture and made your nerves pop and scatter like fleeing insects. You gripped your covered arms, the dark leather creasing beneath your fingers. Wanting to offer more than just a few words, you turned slightly to face him. “So how have your travels been?”
Ardyn gave you his usual smile, it was the equivalence of dumping water on a burning bush, enough to snuff out the flame, but not enough to repair the damage. “Oh simply wonderful. Care to hear?”

This headcanon was originally posted on @rosafulmen ! I have tidied it up for this blog.
this is my au verse for xv lightning ! like all au's, any character connections i make here do not need to be set in stone for people playing canons from the universe, but it does allow me to more seamlessly incorporate her into a universe rather than default to a 'traveller from another world' or attempt to mash the xiii lore into a blend of xv and verses xiii.
at the tender age of ten years old, claire farron's parents were killed on the outside of the crown city by an out of control daemon attack. with her and her sister ( verse dependant ) orphaned at a young age, this forced her to grow up quickly to survive.
knowing there was financial security in the ranks of the kingsglaive claire began to train in the hopes of being accepted into their ranks but was rejected on account of her age. however, her determination was quickly caught by cor who offered her a deal in exchange for her services. if she undertook all the correct training, both in combat and etiquette, he would consider giving her a place in the crownsguard as a shield for lunafreya, in the same way gladio was for noctis, once the oracle was safe in lucis. given her malleable age, he knew he had a fighting chance of shaping her to be the perfect guardian for his prince's bride.
upon accepting these terms, claire changed her name to lightning and threw herself completely into her training. throughout the years she would have seen the boys from time to time ( most often gladio, due to their training ), but her desire for strength and unbreakable will kept her at a distance and cost her a lot of chances at closer friendship. however, she would have kept regular correspondence with luna on account of her semi-official appointment and worked closely with nyx once she was in the city.
in my mind, the au then has two diverging paths — though i consider one to be more 'canon' than the other. the first, less canon path, is that light was able to help luna to escape the city and go to altissia. however, this is limiting in that it stops me from being able to roleplay light within the road trip section with the boys. if luna roleplayers are interested in that, though, i am happy to play her within that part of the verse. they would have travelled together after the events of the film until noct and the boys arrived in altissia and stayed by her side until her untimely death.
the other more canonical is that light, being a crownsguard rather than a kingsglaive, is unable to use magic. the roles of her duty pertain more to the defence of the people than the war or the killing of daemons and, from a political standpoint, she would not be able to guard luna until she and noctis were married. she would have escaped the city with cor and the other guards but, much like the boys, is waylaid from getting to luna on account of the ports and other political roadblocks. i enjoy the idea of her being an occasional accompaniment for the boys, helping out certain side quests and occasionally camping with them, but doesn't properly accompany them on account of her duties being strictly for Luna and the importance of reaching her as soon as she is able.
i also really like the idea of her owning a motorbike. she probably helps cindy procure parts for it at the beginning of the game, similar to how we upgrade the regalia, and continues to let her tweak it over the years.
after altissia and luna dying, a bruised, battered and grief striken light returned to lucis and joined the kingsglaive. there, with her expertise, she would dedicate herself to keeping her people safe and waiting for the king's return.

A Day Off
Disclaimer: I do not own Final Fantasy XV.
OC: Lillian Nox Fleuret is the third princess of Tenebrae and the youngest sister of Ravus and Lunafreya. She is an Oracle. Following the attack on the Fenestala Manor, King Regis rescues Noctis and Lillian and takes them back to Insomnia. She and Noctis grew up together in the Citadel before moving to the apartment in their first year of high school. Their friendship blossomed into love over the years, and after realizing their feelings for each other, they began dating.
This takes place two years before the game. Both Lillian and Noctis are 18.
***************
M.E. July, 754.
"Noct... Noct! Get up. We need to clean your room before Ignis comes." Lillian announced after knocking on the still-sleeping prince's door and inviting herself.
Noctis groaned and snuggled deeper in his blanket. He mumbled a few incoherent words then the room fell into silence again. Lillian sighed and refrained from jumping on him and dragging him out of bed, "Wake up It's afternoon, Your Highness." she tried not to trip on the piles of clothes thrown on the ground and went to open the window.
A hand got out of the covers and patted blindly around it. Once he found his phone, he switched it on. Lillian sat on the bed and looked around her. The prince opened one eye, read "13:56," and then put his phone next to his pillow. He sat up after removing the blanket from his face, "'morning, sleepy-head." Lillian chuckled at his bed hair. She let her fingers tangle in his messy locks and started fixing them. He grunted a greeting and leaned closer to her as she gently combed his hair. It was a habit that he loved. Moments like these made him forget all about his responsibilities and bask in her calming scent.
"I told you to sleep early... Have you completed watching season two yet?" He had told her that he had started the second season, and they made a bet whether he could finish it in a single day.
Eight episodes. Each episode is an hour long. It was safe to say that he had won the bet.
With his eyes still closed, Noctis grinned. "Yup. All of it. Slept at four am... I feel like shit, but it's worth it," he finished with a yawn. His voice is still deep with sleep.
The Oracle shook her head at the prince. He can be silly sometimes. "Don't do that again, please. You look lifeless," she removed her hand from his hair, and he pouted in protest, "Now get your ass up. Ignis is coming at five, and we still need to clean your room."
"Right," he sighed, then smiled, "can I get a 'good morning' kiss?" He tugged at her sleeve, his other hand reaching for her face, cupping her cheek.
Lillian chuckled, then planted a soft kiss on his forehead, making his heart flutter. He sighed happily. Truly, nothing made him happier than these peaceful moments with his princess. He watched silently as she gave him a small smile before getting up from his bed.
"Your breakfast is on the dining table. I'll go get the cleaning supplies that we need." She tied her hair up so it wouldn't bother her during the cleaning. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Noctis finally getting up, running his hand through his hair, and stretching. She left Noctis' room and went to the kitchen when she realized her first mission of the day, waking him up, was complete.
Looking through the cabinets, she gathered several plastic bags for all the trash lying on his bedroom floor. Just as she pulled out a cleaning detergent, Noctis entered the kitchen, rubbing his eyes as he sat on the dining table's chair. "Thanks for the food, Lilly," he said with a smile, before eating the pancakes.
"Hm? Oh! No problem, Noct," She said dismissively, waving her hand. With the supplies in her hold, she went to start the cleaning.
"I'll be right there once I'm finished," he called over his shoulder.
"Okay!" Was her reply.
He sat there, chewing on the chocolate-covered pancakes, then his thoughts drifted to Lillian. Ever since Ignis reprimanded and threatened to take him back to the citadel, Lillian volunteered to help him. Well, in this case, help Ignis since he was the one who would usually clean up after him.
"Ignis already has enough on his plate," Lillian said one time, "You shouldn't make his life miserable with your mess!"
Noctis promised her to try to keep his room as clean as he could because he felt guilty and didn't want to be separated from Lillian — who would stay in the apartment while he went back to the citadel. Emphasis on Try... He just couldn't help it! He tried but failed. All the royal training and political reports made him neglect to tidy his bedroom.
Once he finished, he got up and downed the strawberry smoothie. Ignis had asked Lillian to keep an eye on Noctis' dietary habits. He hated vegetables, but he hated upsetting Lillian even more. And so he ate every meal she prepared for him. He also noticed how she tried to make the greens delicious for him. She was constantly coming up with new recipes that included vegetables to make eating them more fun for him.
He adored her so much for doing this.
He cleaned his cup and plate, then hurried off to his room. He was greeted with the sight of a full laundry basket containing all the clothes he had tossed around.
When Lillian noticed his arrival, she handed him a garbage bag and said, "I'm gonna put these clothes in the washing machine," she then hoisted the hamper by its handles and added, "This is the last time you bring food here, understand?" She spoke with a stern tone that caused Noctis to avert his eyes sheepishly.
He nodded, "Understood."
Soon after that, she left, leaving him to his task. The young man looked around his room, empty packages of several snacks and bottles of juices scattered all over the floor and the desk. He glanced at the digital clock next to his laptop, "2: 13 PM," less than three hours remained until Ignis arrived. Thankfully, his room was not as wild as it used to be.
He nodded, ready to prove his independence to Ignis and Lillian. With this mindset, he began, starting with the floor, "Let's do this."
***************
Noctis proudly smiled as he admired his now sparkling clean room.
Lillian cleaned everything thoroughly, from the floors to the walls to the windows, and Noctis assisted her.
He turned to Lillian, her keen eyes looking for any spot they might have missed. Noctis draped his arm over her shoulders and pulled her close, side-hugging her, "Relax love," he chuckled, "The room is spotless. Even Iggy would be taken aback by how it looks."
Lillian returned the side hug by wrapping her arm around his back and nodded, "Yeah," she smiled when he kissed her temple and muttered a sweet 'thank you.'
"I promise to keep it as clean as possible. I won't let your work go to waste."
"That's right! Plus, we did it together, Noct," she looked up at him and smiled. She turned to the digital watch, "We still have thirty minutes before Iggy comes... Until then, I'm going to take a shower."
Earlier that day, she had cleaned her room and their living room, not that there was much to clean; she always kept things organized. And now, after cleaning Noctis' room, she was worn out. She figured a nice, hot shower would relax her muscles and clear her thoughts.
The prince smiled mischievously and said, "Mind if I join you?"
He faced her, hands moving to her hips as he pulled her flush against him. She blushed, and he smirked; He loved teasing her.
"No, I don't mind," she said, smirking at his surprised expression. Pushing away from him, she made her way to the bathroom. "You'd better hurry, though. We don't have much time."
Noctis looked at the doorway. He chuckled; she had caught him off guard. He didn't expect her to agree. With a cheeky smile on his face, he rushed after her.
***************
Ignis raised an eyebrow at the flushed face of the young princess and the prince's satisfied smile and decided not to ask about whatever had happened. Something told him that he was better off not knowing.
He nodded in approval after touring the apartment and then placed a folder on the coffee table.
"This is a report on the current situation between Insomnia and Niflheim, have a look at it later," Ignis then turned to Lillian, "Nyx asked me to let you know that he'll drop by tomorrow."
She smiled in excitement, "Alright!" It had been two weeks since she had seen the Kingsglaive, and she had missed him. Helping the Glaives around Insomnia's borders was a job she loved; she always looked forward to it. According to Libertus, she had made their life much easier by taking care of the Daemons and them fighting off the imperial army.
Ignis smiled at her enthusiasm and glanced at Noctis who was looking curiously at a bag he had set down on their kitchen counter.
"I had time earlier and decided to bake some desserts," the advisor adjusted his glasses, "I'll take my leave now-"
He was cut off by Lillian, a frown on her face, "What?! You can't leave just yet! I'm going to make us some coffee and eat the dessert together, so please take a seat," and with that, she went to prepare their drinks.
Noctis looked at the princess, a look of admiration on his face. The sun was setting, and the apartment was bathed in orange rays giving it a cozy atmosphere. A gentle smile on his face as he watched her prepare cups and a plate to display the pastries. The comforting smell of the coffee filled the air, and Noctis exhaled a contented sigh. He wanted to hold on to these moments when nothing mattered and the whole world seemed tranquil.
Ignis cleared his throat, snapping Noctis out of his reverie. They both took a seat at the dining table, and Lillian joined them after bringing them the food.
"This tastes amazing!" Noctis exclaimed as he took a bite, "But something is missing...right, Lilly?"
She nodded, "Yeah, it almost tastes like the one we had in Tenebrae," she hummed in delight and added, "This tastes so good! This is what happiness tastes like," she giggled, and Noctis nodded his head in agreement.
Ignis sighed slightly in disappointment before taking a bite. At least he was close this time. He watched silently as Lillian and Noctis chatted about some series he had stayed up late to watch. He listened to them and made a few comments here and there. The trio kept talking about random topics until Ignis checked his watch and told them that he had to leave.
After wearing his shoes, he turned them, "I'm glad to see that you're doing well. I'll return in two days to go over the report with you."
"Right," the prince said as he leaned against the wall, "Thanks for the dessert, Iggy," he said with a small smile.
Ignis nodded and then addressed the princess, "Be careful tomorrow, alright?"
"I will. Don't worry," Lillian assured him.
"Good. Have a good night, then," and with that, Ignis left.
Noctis locked the front door and followed Lillian into the kitchen.
"Maybe we should leave these to Prompto..." She muttered as she placed the pastries in a paper bag before putting them in the fridge.
He took their empty cups to the sink and washed them. "I'll invite him over for some gaming tomorrow."
The young Oracle sat on the sofa and sighed. She watched Noctis dry his hands with a paper towel before sitting beside her. He opened his arm, and she rested her head on his chest, his arm hugging her frame as he placed his head on top of hers. His other hand sought hers and intertwined them.
"Are you all right?" Noctis spoke softly after a moment of silence.
"Mmhmm," she closed her eyes and listened to his heartbeat. "Just thinking."
He had an idea about what she was thinking and sighed, "... Another vision?"
The Oracle took a deep breath and started, "Yeah, and as you already know, I can't talk about it."
"I know, I know... Is it that bad?" Noctis inquired.
Lillian nodded, and he sighed heavily. He didn't want to think about the future but from how somber Lillian looked every time she had a vision it just made him nervous. But he knew that as the future king, he had to be strong for everyone's sake. To avoid ruining the mood, Noctis changed the subject, asking, "So, when do you think Nyx is coming?" He will worry about their future later; for now, he will enjoy every moment.
When he mentioned her best friend's name, her smile returned, "Certainly around noon. I intend to heal as many Daemons as I can," she stated with a determined tone.
"I know you will," he chuckled, lovingly caressing her hair.
Lillian glanced at the report Ignis had left on the coffee table; they could review it tomorrow. "Do you wanna watch a movie?" It was still too early to go to bed.
"Sure. Any suggestions?"
"I heard 'Wolf Children: Ame and Yuki' is pretty good!"
"If you say so," with that, Noctis and Lillian moved to her room. After turning on her laptop and getting comfortable on her bed, the couple started the movie.
***************
A/N: And there you have it! It took me a while to write this one, and I'm happy with it.
The series Noctis was watching was "Alice in Borderland." I was watching the 2nd season- which was a masterpiece by the way, then thought to myself to include it here.
'Wolf Children: Ame and Yuki' is one of my favorite films, and I figured that it was the perfect movie for them to watch.
I'm planning on writing more one-shots of Lilly and Noct's life together before their journey.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and have a fantastic day/night!

“ don’t you understand? i love you. and nothing you’ve done, no matter how much of a monster you think you are, is gonna change that. ”
A long lost meme || @svnsworn
If only Ravus could convince himself that the words she was speaking were truth. The rational aspect of his mind did, but every other bit in the core of his being fought against it.
No one could love the type of monster he was.
Oh, but he longed to believe. He craved those words so strongly that they drew a hint of dampness to his eyes. "Lunafreya," he whispered, eyes lowering to rest unfocused on the plush carpeting of the room.
He didn't have words to respond, and any he might have compiled choked in his throat, prevented from escaping. She wouldn't lie to him, he told himself. And whether or not that was the case, he had to force himself to pretend to see that as the currentstance.
With quiet steps, he made way to his sister and pulled her into a hug, perhaps one of the very few in recent years, but Ravus was of the notion that actions could speak louder than words...

"I don't know what to think. At this point it feels like it's every man for himself," Nyx didn't know who he could trust, but he at the very least believed that Lunafreya's brother would have some interest in keeping her alive. The guy had made a questionable choice, so it might backfire if he got his hands on the ring, but Nyx was willing to take that chance. He didn't have many other shots at getting this right, after all.
Meeting the High Commander's gaze, he schooled his expression at those words. "Of course, sir. Allow me to show you to your living quarters," oh how he hated to speak like that, but it was all part of the act – and gave him an excuse to follow after the other male.
And follow he did. Talking in private would be much easier, everything considered. There had been way too many people out there at the gala and if he was to reveal more of what he knew, then it'd be wise to have as few ears around as possible.
"Outside of the King and Prince of Lucis, who poses the biggest threat against the Empire? Your sister is the Oracle, she can commune with the Gods. They won't let her live if they see her as a threat," he warned once they had gone to a private room. It wasn't the other's living quarters, that was much further into the Citadel, but this would have to do for now.
Ravus could ill-afford it to be that easy, his faith foolishly placed in the word of the Empire that his sister would be whisked away to safety because he had no choice but to believe them. Yet the way the man pressed onward with his insinuations, the more Ravus's anger began to flare...
...And the more the seed of doubt began to sprout, a seed of doubt that had always been there yet never allowed to be tended to.
A sudden sharpness in his gaze would not be missed by the bold Glaive, of that Ravus was certain, though fortunately they were far enough away from the partygoers that it would be missed by his captors.
And yet...What was it he was expected to do? His jaw tightened in annoyance.
"Truly, do you believe that I would allow the Empire--or anyone else--to harm my sister?" he snapped, his stance shifting simply because standing for so long was tiresome. "She is to leave tonight, after this party has concluded, and I intend to see her onto the ship and gone to assure myself of her safety." Watchers be damned, he turned his gaze fully upon the guard. Ravus was not a stupid man, far from it. He knew what was in store for the Lucians, knew what the plan truly was. And it seemed the guard knew, as well. Somehow.
"I've grown tired. The trip was long and arduous." With that, he took his leave, slipping quickly through the gathered people to escape the event for sanctuary inside after a look back that said very clearly follow me. He would, against his better judgement, give the man a private moment if the man was so willing.

Garden of Fire
The day is finally here where Noctis is to have the last of his Scourge removed by the hand of the Queen Oracle. Excitement bubbles within, especially when Lunafreya spoke so highly of the ritual, and how Stella shows her elation in mentioning how she is to help with it. And yet...by the end of the day, none of this was meant to happen.

Today was a special day. Today was the day that Noctis could be taken out through the sylleblossom garden and to a sacred ground within the Fleuret estate for a final cleanse to rid him of what traces of Scourge still lingered within him. The excitement of what this all meant was a palpable aura felt by everyone.
Stella seemed one of the most excited as she walked with a bit of a flounce to her gait next to Noctis’ wheelchair, dirty blonde hair bouncing with each step. Lunafreya was pushing Noctis, her own look of enthusiasm evident in her eyes as how she could not contain the smile she tried to conceal.
As for Noctis himself, well…he did his best to appear merely content. He failed miserably at it, of course. For what young boy would not be excited to return to an aspect of their life that they knew?
“I'm going to help mother in the ritual,” Stella was saying as they walked. Even her tone was laced with that bubbling jubilee. “Ever since Niflheim took over, these purification rituals are rare.”
“But don't the Oracles still help the people?” Noctis asked.
“We do…but with Niflheim’s rule, our mother -- the Queen Oracle -- can only open the gates to the grounds during allotted periods ordained by Emperor Ideolas Aldercapt,” Lunafreya explained briefly. She sighed wistfully. “The rituals are so pretty. When the Scourge is taken from the host's body during the process, it turns into this beautiful wispy mana before dispersing back into the star.”
At Lunafreya’s initial explanation, Stella’s expression faltered for the briefest of moments. She continued to walk alongside the two with purpose, a smile returning to her face as she looked on ahead.
“So the Scourge in my body will be returned to the star, huh?” Noctis asked, looking up. The sky shifted to being obscured by the canopy of trees the further that they went. The flagstone trail faded into dirt, the wheels of the wheelchair soon crunched over dead leaves and the occasional twig.
The deeper that the three traversed into the wood, the darker the world grew around them. The sound of rushing waters greeted them as the land shifted and changed, rocky waterfalls bringing in a murmur to the forest. It was a tranquil shroud of nature that Noctis felt like he could easily get lost in. Before he could get lost, however, Lunafreya slowed the wheelchair to a halt, and Noctis looked forward to notice the collection of adults there as well as Ravus -- Lunafreya and Stella’s brother.
Regis turned to look at Noctis as he arrived, his expression brightening. At his side were of course Aurae and Clarus both -- the only members of the royal council who accompanied Regis to Tenebrae.
When Sylva noticed the three approaching, her attention upon them was the cue for the others to look toward them as well. She donned much more traditional cloth, still white as freshly laden snow. At her back was a mantle of feathers, blue as the sylleblossoms native to Tenebrae. Upon her head she donned a crystalline crown, clear as ice. Lifting a hand, she beckoned for Lunafreya to bring Noctis closer.
Stella exchanged a smile with Lunafreya, nodding toward her before walking forward to stand next to their mother. She was more than ready to begin the ritual and aid with it as her budding duty as next Oracle in line. As Lunafreya brought Noctis into the clearing, he watched Stella stand more proudly, her hands drawn before her at rest. Ravus was close by himself, his figure nearly dwarfling both his mother and sister already.
With a steady breath, Noctis felt his wheelchair lurch to a stop. Lunafreya held the chair still while Noctis glanced back at her. She gave him a reassuring nod and smile. Gathering his excited and nervous energy both, he slowly pushed himself up into standing on his own two legs. The pain was dull, though not unbearable like before. With the steady stream of treatment and physical therapy, he had been well on his way to recovery. All that was left was the ritual.
When Sylva beckoned Noctis to come forward, he walked, slow but assured as his aching legs carried him. Runes etched within the stone beneath his feet started to glow a calming blue, a warm energy of tranquility flooding the area surrounding them. Such warmth made Noctis’ skin tingle in a soothing fashion, the feeling akin to being wrapped within a plush blanket on a cold winter’s eve.
A glance back to Stella revealed that she had clasped her hands together in prayer, a serene look upon her face. Looking back at Sylva, her own eyes soon closed as she knelt and cupped Noctis’ face in her hands once he neared. She pressed her forehead to his, the tingling sensation from before feeling more like a full body pulse. It was not bad nor unwelcome -- instead, it was like the ocean waves lapping at his skin. With each retreat of these ‘waves’, Noctis could feel the resistance of the Scourge within him…how it wanted to cling on and fester.
There were moments where the Scourge clung on so tightly that Noctis’ face twisted into a momentary grimaces of pain. His hand curled into a fist at his side, enduring the discomfort.
Everything that was happening was enough to make Noctis miss how the air thrummed. How the leaves of the trees shifted, as if shuddering in fear.
A loud crack tore through the air, and where Noctis’ heart leapt into his throat, Sylva staggered forward. There was a new tear in the arm of her robes, revealing a deep cut within her flesh that bled freely, staining her white fabric in scarlet.
A bullet had grazed her.
The metallic sound of armor clanking started to fill the air. Magitek soldiers rained down upon the ritual grounds, their expressionless faces only staring forward with that harrowing red glow to their eyes as they marched forward, guns drawn. Some even pointed their limbs forward, wrists snapping back to reveal flamethrowers that were used to start setting the forest and grounds ablaze.
Chaos was something that took no time to ensue as the Crownsguard that accompanied Regis and Noctis leapt into action alongside the Fleuret armed royal soldiers. Gunfire and the crunching of metal as it was destroyed filled the air.
“Run to your father, Noctis!” Sylva urged before she stood and turned, a stoney expression on her face -- a far cry from the warm and serene queen Noctis had gotten to know during his time in Tenebrae. From her palm was erected a vast wealth of magical energy, a crystalline shield providing a dome around the ritual grounds and the people there to shield them from a hailstorm of bullets.
Before he knew it, Noctis felt a hand around his, and he was pulled in a direction away from Sylva. Lunafreya was leading, her feet carrying her as fast as they could with Noctis’ added stupor dragging behind her. Once shock had finally left him in whatever capacity it could, Noctis’ could finally gain control of running after Lunafreya toward Regis.
Everything was a blur once Regis scooped Noctis up into his arms and grabbed Lunafreya’s hand to lead them both to safety.
“Ravus!” The sound of Sylva’s pained and desperate voice cut through the air clearer than anything else causing Lunafreya to stop, eyes wide as her hand slipped from Regis’ grasp. Sylva had put herself between a magitek trooper, flames expelling from its arm compartment, and Ravus.
Ravus was down on his knees, hand clamped over the side of his abdomen where a bullet got him, making him a susceptible enough target.
Noctis’ eyes widened as his mouth fell open watching the scene unfold before him. He could not help but be brought back to that time with the marilith. How the fires lapped and consumed the world around him. How the smoke filled his lungs.
Stella hurried to her brother’s side, getting him back up onto his feet before the two of them started running. Aurae entered into Noctis’ vision, running past to erect a shield of her own making to cover for the other two while taking hold of Lunafreya’s hand to get her out of danger. The shock of everything was clear on Ravus’ eyes, and when he turned to look back at his mother’s burning body, another figure loomed over her, a great blade of steel having pierced straight through her.
“Mother!” Ravus screamed, pulling away from Stella to hurry back to their mother’s side.
“Ravus, you can’t--!” Stella gasped, her words cut off as the figure that cut down the Queen Oracle rushed past her, aiming an attack at Regis.
A sharp ringing echoed out as Regis summoned upon the Royal Armiger, weapons appearing at his sides in a crystalline shroud as he kept his firm hold upon Noctis, shielding him with his body.
“Glauca!” came a shout from Clarus as he hurried to the king’s back. He had forced himself to retreat from the magitek units to charge at the darkly armored man. With a thrust, steel met steel as the darkly armored individual had to turn and block Clarus’ incoming attack.
Glancing over his shoulder, Regis steeled himself as Clarus fended off the Niflheim general. Mustering his strength, Regis willed his summoned armiger forward just as Clarus pushed Glauca back. With a grunt of surprise, Glauca was forced backward into the base of a grand tree before Regis resumed his retreat with Noctis in his hold and now Clarus in tow.
“You have to help us!” Ravus shouted as Regis ran past. He had been kneeling over Sylva’s limp body. His voice might as well have been a whisper amidst the roar of everything else surrounding the ritual grounds. Even though Aurae was there and attempting to get Ravus on his feet, it was as if only the Lucian King was who could help him. “King Regis!”
With more of her strength, Aurae hooked an arm underneath Ravus’, pulling both him and Lunafreya with her. Stella at least had been less paralyzed and overwhelmed to keep pace alongside them.
“What are you doing!? Let me go!” Ravus yelled, his attention going to his mother as he was made to leave her. Aurae’s grip upon him was like an iron vice, preventing him from parting from her. “She needs help!”
“Mother is dead, Ravus! They killed her!” Stella cried out at him. She nearly stopped in her tracks as soon as the words left her mouth. Bringing a hand to her eyes, Stella continued hurrying along, blinking back the tears that started to well. Hearing the words she said made the scenario feel all that much more real.
“Save your words,” Aurae both scolded and urged with a hiss. Her attention was pointed forward, following after Regis and Clarus. She was most concerned with keeping the Nox Fleuret children as safe as possible.
The moment they had left the ritual grounds back into the gardens, the extent of how far the flames went was mortifying. What was once an ocean of blue sylleblossoms was now engulfed in flame. Only the flagstone path back to the manor felt like the only safe path. However, having walked the grounds before, Aurae brought herself to action, letting go of Ravus to lift a hand. The air shuddered as a gust of wind rushed forward and created a path around the manor for them to take, suppressing the flames with an advanced Shell spell.
It was a safe enough passage for everyone to take. They ran through the blackened trail, only the thought that it was passing strange flitting through their minds that the magitek units did not seem to want to shoot at them any longer. Not since the Nox Fleuret children had been at Aurae’s side.
“Must I do everything myself?” a low voice drawled within Aurae’s ear before she felt Lunafreya’s hand slip from hers.
Turning suddenly with a cry of surprise, Aurae watched as Lunafreya was dragged back by a force unseen. Likewise, Ravus and Stella both soon followed suit.
Thrusting an arm out to reach for them, eyes wide, Aurae was soon halted by a figure that manifested before her. She found herself staring up into the golden eyes of Niflheim’s chancellor:
“Ardyn--” Aurae’s voice caught in her throat before she felt the wind escape her.
Her body buckled as she looked down, a darkened blade having been thrust through her. As her vision blurred and blood bubbled up through her throat, she looked back up at Ardyn. It was hard to think straight, but she raised a hand, pressing it against Ardyn’s own that held the hilt of his sword.
“Send your sister my regards,” Ardyn drawled, a sneer growing upon his face as he stared down at Aurae. Sharply withdrawing the blade, he then whipped his free arm forward. Aurae’s body flew through the air before it landed on the opposite side of the sea of flames that returned to engulfing the trail. The Shell spell had been released.
Aurae’s body fell against the pavement in front of Clarus and Regis’ both as they looked upon her in horror. Regis brought a hand up to the back of Noctis’ head, keeping his gaze turned away. All the while, Clarus cursed, his jaw clenching as he allowed his greatsword to fade away into a mist before he picked Aurae’s body up and carried it with them.
None of this was meant to happen…

Nyx was roused from his sleep that morning by a combination of sound and scent... somewhere off in the distance. Burning. His eyes snapped open and he sat up, looking through bleary eyes down towards the kitchen area, to the figure there. It took him a few moment to adjust to what he was seeing, to shake off the tendrils of sleep and his dreams... taking a slow breath. He nearly reached for his sidearm under the pillow, but his hand froze when he recognized the figure. Rising up off the bed groggily, clad only in his dark undergarment, he waited for the vertigo to pass, until he was clear headed enough to move to the kitchen himself... joining her there. The hour was too early for any false modesty or social protocol to bother putting on his shirt, trousers, body armor and uniform. To say nothing of how long they had been travelling already together. How comfortable they had become, and their growing understanding. He saw at once the blonde young woman had been attempting to prepare the pancakes she had spoken of before... had promised to make him. A smile touched his visage, and he let out a low chuckle from behind her, shaking his head, but not mockingly so.
"Don't worry about it, Princess... didn't expect you to have much experience, all the servants insisting on waiting on you hand and foot. Tea is more your specialty thus far... but I appreciate the effort. Haven't had anyone want to cook for me since my mother... and sister. Here, lets try again... let me show you a thing or two."
The Kingsglaive offered to her, moving in closer to the Princess and scraping out the pan's burnt contents into the nearby garbage, before trying again with some of the leftover batter she had prepared. Pouring a bit in carefully at a time and lowering the temperature on the stove. Remembering the many pancakes and even some cakes he had cooked himself, long ago, in another life that could have been. As he worked with the pouring and the spatula, he cast a lopsided smile and look Lunafreya's way, murmuring in her ear quietly. Morning or not... she always looked good... especially in the early light, illuminating the white she wore... and was especially cute looking this morning, with the sheepish expression she also wore. The attempt she had made for him was quietly moving... somehow she was always pulling her own weight all throughout the madness of this journey. All the strain her Oracle duties were putting on her, healing the sick... waking ungrateful Gods. She always had a smile for him. He especially enjoyed the quiet, welcome moments like this with her, when they weren't being chased or shot at.
"Taught you how to use a gun already, you aren't half bad a shot... figure teaching you to cook won't take much more effort. Another useful skill to have. Might not always be around to do the cooking. Besides, I want to try those Tenebrae famous pancakes of yours you've been bragging about. See if they match the hype."

Mega Fluff [accepting]
These days have seen Luna snatched from the depths of sleep by every manner of cruel interruption. From Imperial servants seeking to do her harm, to footsteps in some motel hallway; near indistinguishable in the heightened state necessary when one is trying to avoid capture. But this morning is different. Exhausted as she'd been, she'd neglected her dinner the night before leaving her quite hungry now. She peers over at her companion, still fast asleep - usually, it is he who manages their meals. But the morning is cold, rain beats down on the camper's roof, and Nyx has worked himself to the bone lately. Luna is hardly experienced in the kitchen, but surely this once she may fumble together a passable breakfast for them both.
Padding softly toward the kitchenette, Luna reaches for a discarded apron, optimistic. For she has communed with Gods - how much trouble can a small stack of pancakes cause her?
A great deal it turns out, as ten minutes later she is staring down at her very burnt first attempt, frowning to herself.

Okay guys, galaxy brain with me for a moment:
A FF XV au: where there are 3 Nox Fleuret siblings, Ravus, Luna AND Stella.
Stella is the baby. She's one year younger than Lunafreya, so Luna is still THE Oracle
Since their dad is never mentioned, let's assume that he got in a fight with Sylva (R&L's mom) about the whole prophecy, so he tries to leaves sneakily without telling anyone but Sylva about it and take away his youngest daughter before Regis and Noct arrive to Tenebrae
Sylva kinda silently exiles their dad and is mad at him for standing against her and her duty (and essentially against Luna's future)
Being an Oracle is though shit and she's trying her best, but she cannot exactly stand against the Astrals even though she's devastated upon hearing about her daughter's destiny
The shit gets really messy during the fall of Tenebrae because at this point only few closest to the Oracle know about the tension between the family
During the attack Dad Fleuret sacrifices himself to focus soldiers' attention on himself while Stella manages to run away and get out of Tenebrae with other refugees (since she was already preparing to do that before Niflheim attacked)
After the fall, when they find Dad Fleuret's dead body and can't find Stella anywhere, they announce to the public that both Queen and King of Tenebrae is dead along with the youngest princess
That results in Lunafreya feeling even more compelled to her duty because she's the only Oracle left and her family is falling apart
Ravus has even more issues due to losing both of his parents and his sister
Stella tries to lay low and lets the Empire believe she's dead for at least a year before she tries to contact her siblings
Stella vaguely keeps in touch with Ravus and Luna with Pryna's help after Tenebrae falls
Since I imagine both Stella and Ravus are similar in character, she vows to avenge her parents and homeland so she learns how to fight (possibly joins either hunters or mercenaries)
Since we can't have nice things without a lil bit of 💫💫drama💫💫 - Ravus is very protective of Lunafreya, because he feels like he already failed one of his sisters
Luna is conflicted - on one hand she care about Stella, but on another she can't understand how could she just leave them, especially once she learns that the reason she got away in the first place is that she was already planning to run away with their dad
Stella is slightly freaked out by the prophecy and is also overprotective when it comes to Luna, but she can't do much SINCE the whole world thinks she's dead and Ravus is adamant about keeping it that way, because even if he feels betrayed, he still wants her to be free and hates himself since he can't really help with Luna's situation
Cue Ravus forming his dumbass plan to get a high rank in the Empire's army to at least somehow protect his family
Lunafreya is mad at her brother, because she's sick of everybody sacrificing themselves in order to protect her and reluctantly reaches out to Stella, so maybe she can convince him to not join
When Stella gets a wind of Ravus making a career at the army, she is pissed at him because he's siding with the enemy
Ravus dismisses both sisters and shuts himself off because he cannot let them get hurt by the Empire again and they simply don't understand that he doesn't have the same luxury of being too important to get rid of him as Lunafreya does (because the Emperor isn't stupid enough to publicly try anything against the Oracle) so he's also trying to make himself valuable so they can't use him as a bargaining chip against Lunafreya
Since, like I mentioned before, I see Ravus &Stella thinking in similar ways, Stella decides to join Aranea's team (since Aranea was hired by the Empire a few times already and there are rumours that they want her&her mercs as a part of the army) half out of pure spite and half because she's acquaintances with her due to work so she knows Aranea won't be loyal to the Empire even if she'll work for them
Naturally - Ravus is pissed
Lunafreya is hurt by her decision and cuts off contact with her
Later when Ravus is coincidentally assigned to a mission with Aranea, he quietly corners Stella and tries to make her leave and go back to hiding
Aranea walks on them 3 seconds away from throwing hands and decides that they are suspicious af and demands an explanation
A long passive aggressive conversation later - Aranea learns of Stella's true identity (she was using a fake name) and she's shook, but she agrees to keep it to herself and to pass on messages from Ravus to his sister without raising too many suspicions
I'll continue later because I'm close to sign limit ×-×

FFXV x Naruto crossover with Hatake Kakashi as Ravus Nox Fleuret that no one asked for, because I stumbled into the FFXV fandom again on AO3 and was reminded this AU existed in my docs
In which Kakashi dies ... haven't quite decided exactly when but before he's made Hokage ... and is reborn as the prince to a nation and it's so familiar to grow up with war on the borders of your country, but this time, this time, he's not just a soldier. He's not a tool. He's not the last shinobi of a dying clan. No, Ravus Nox Fleuret is the only son of a beloved monarch, and his country strives to protect and shelter him. And it is so, so, strange, because he knows that war is hounding the country, that Tenebrae is under Niflheim rule and people are dying, but here, within the walls of the Fenestala Manor , everything is bright and soft and peaceful.
And then Lunafreya is born and Kakashi falls in love at first sight and he's never had siblings before, but this, this is pack. He has a mother who adores them and a sister who's so small and so easily harmed by the cruel, cruel world of war, and he rages at the chains that bind him to a higher position, to the royal line, because all he has known is how to protect by fighting, by taking a blow, on the frontlines. He knows how to command troops from the front - how to utilize a small, deadly force of people to the greatest effect. He doesn't know how to protect against political manipulations and from the safety of the manor - doesn't know how to command soldiers symbolized by nothing but mere pieces on the board. Doesn't know how to fight a war that everyone insists is not happening.
Kakashi has always been one of the foot soldiers. He has never wanted to be Hokage. But he has people and an entire country to protect and while he may not be in first line for the throne, Kakashi is determined to live up to his people's faith in him. He has always been a quick learner.
I'm not entirely fixed on how the whole invasion of the Fenestala Manor goes? If Lunafreya stays back, Kakashi/Ravus will too, that's confirmed, and the story will go differently. Kakashi/Ravus will definitely give his all to see Lunafreya to safety. It would be interesting to see Sylva still die protecting him. Lunafreya stayed back because Ravus was left behind, but would it change if Ravus had yelled for her to stay with Regis?
Subject to change, but I think the events of the Nox Fleuret manor invasion probably plays out with Sylva dying, Ravus staying behind to buy them time to escape. Lunafreya hesitates and looks back at her brother, and he meets her eyes and smiles at her even as he commands, "Go with King Regis, Luna." And Ravus isn't the Oracle - isn't next in line for the throne. He would never rule unless something happened to Lunafreya but he had never been jealous or shown any resentment at being the second-choice despite being first born. Ravus is a prince who isn't slated to be king, but in the backlight of battle, standing tall and fierce, Lunafreya has never seen him look so Royal.
"I'll be right behind you," Kakashi/Ravus states, and it is with this promise held close to her heart that Lunafreya turns and runs.
Lunafreya is a child, and Kakashi/Ravus has had a whole life behind him. Children do not understand when a battle is hopeless.
Lunafreya arrives in Lucis safely. She waits in Insomnia for her brother to appear - battle-worn and weary - at the gates with the ever-present crinkle of his eyes as he smiles at her. Her brother does not appear for a long, long time.
Anyways.
In this universe, Ravus does not blame Regis for leaving - does not spit on his name and call him a coward. He is not a child believing adults are unstoppable - that kings win every battle - that good always triumphs.
Kakashi has been a soldier since he first put on the headband symbolizing his place as a shinobi. He knows what a losing fight looks like, and he understands that despite their alliance or what is left of it, Regis's loyalty is still first to his son and country. All he can hope for is that defense spreading over to Lunafreya as well.
Niflheim opens fire on the Fenestala Manor, and Ravus watches as his home goes up in flames.
(Kakashi remembers being protected and a bijuu towering over his village and the piercing knowledge that he is alone. He remembers betrayal and large beasts in the backdrop of wooden houses and sand in his mouth, and a funeral for a Hokage.)
Might have Kakashi/Ravus be granted Ramuh's blessing? Because the Nox Fleurets have long been the voice of the gods, and although it was only female line with the power of the Oracles, is it any stretch of imagination, for a male Nox Fleuret to take up the role as one of the Blessed as well? And Kakashi with lightning still running in his veins is wonderful. Maybe he watches magiteck open fire on his house, watches his only remaining pack member flee, and he needs to stop it - needs to bring attention on himself - buy enough time for the people who call him their prince to escape.
Hatake Kakashi grows up with lightning in his veins. He reaches for the same power now in desperation and gets a god instead. Ramuh looks down at him, the personification of the storm, and recognizes a Stormborn. The Lawkeeper, the Galahdians call him. Kakashi was ANBU once, and a shinobi even more. He is no stranger to playing judge, jury, and executioner, to being the sword held by his Hokage.
Ramuh grants him a covenant in exchange for one thing.
Bahamut watches over his Lucis kings, the Leviathan over Accordo, and Shiva over Tenebrae, but Ramuh's people have always been the people of Galahd, and they still hold faith in him.
"Stormborn, Twice-Walker," Ramuh names him and says. "Take my people as your own, and I will be your god."
Anyways, Altissia happens but whether or not ends the same is still undecided, but it does happen, mostly because I wanted to draw the parallels for Kakashi between sea monsters and a girl as close as family and blood on his hands that wont wash away.
