Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Raheem.
Indeed, the Qur'an is filled with verses that offer deep solace and hope, promising that Allah, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, will alleviate our sorrows and transform our hardships into ease. Allah assures us that He is ever-watchful, and nothing in our lives escapes His notice.
"فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا. إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا" "So, truly, with hardship comes ease. Truly, with hardship comes ease." Quran 94:5-6
This verse is a divine reminder that after every trial, relief is not just promised once but twice. Your current difficulties, no matter how heavy, will eventually give way to ease and joy. Allah Himself has guaranteed it.
Furthermore, the Qur'an reminds us to stay patient and steadfast:
"يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اصْبِرُوا وَصَابِرُوا وَرَابِطُوا وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ" "O you who have believed, persevere and endure and remain stationed and fear Allah that you may be successful." Quran 3:200
Patience and reliance upon Allah are keys to success, both in this world and in the hereafter. The people of Jannah are those who bear their trials with faith and patience, knowing that Allah is with them through every hardship.
Moreover, Allah promises that those who trust in Him will never be abandoned:
"وَمَن يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ" "And whoever relies upon Allah – then He is sufficient for him." Quran 65:3
Trust in Allah means acknowledging that even in the depths of our pain, He is our Protector, and He will take care of our affairs, both in this life and the next. Your struggles will not be in vain if you keep your heart tied to Allah and His guidance.
Finally, for the believers who endure, Allah gives a beautiful glad tiding:
"إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتُ الْفِرْدَوْسِ نُزُلًا" "Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds – they will have the Gardens of Al-Firdaus as a lodging." Quran 18:107
Yes, you will meet the people of Jannah, insha'Allah, both in this world through righteous companionship and eternally in the hereafter, where your sorrows will vanish, and you will experience endless joy. Allah's promise is true, and His mercy encompasses everything.
Your pain, your patience, and your trust in Allah will lead you to a brighter future, one that may even surpass your expectations. Allah has a plan for you, and His plans are far greater than anything we can imagine. Never give up hope, for you are in the care of the Most Merciful.

Carrie: Okay, what was the word you can say before eating? It's like praying, right?
Damian: Sorta. It's tough to say for beginners, but I think you got it: Bismillah.
Carrie (placing her hands together): Bis- millah.
Carrie took a piece of the stuffed zucchini and ate it with a smile.
Carrie: Very tasty and thank you.
Damian: Thank you for asking about my culture, I appreciate that.
Carrie: Namaste.
Damian (forcing a smile): That's not what that means, but I can see you meant 'You're welcome'. You want some more?
Carrie: Yeah!

Dhikr after every Fardh salah.
Tumblr media
Dhikr after every Fardh salah.
Bismillah.
It is prescribed to remember Allah by glorifying Him, praising Him, magnifying Him and proclaiming His Oneness (by saying La ilaha illa Allah) following the obligatory prayers .
There are many ways of doing that, which have been narrated in the Sunnah.
1)The worshipper can glorify Allah thirty-three times (by saying “Subhan Allah”) after every prayer , praise Him (by saying “Al-hamdu Lillah”) thirty-three times, and magnify Him (by saying “Allahu akbar”) thirty-three times, and he may complete one hundred by saying: “La ilaha ill-Allah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahu’l-mulk wa lahu’l-hamd wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay-in qadir (There is no god worthy of worship except Allah Alone, with no partner or associate, His is the Dominion, to Him be praise, and He has power over all things). Thus the total number will be one hundred.
Ref: That is because of the report narrated by Muslim (597) ~ Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), who said: “Whoever glorifies Allah thirty-three times after every prayer , and praises Allah thirty-three times, and magnifies Allah thirty-three times, making ninety-nine, and completes it by saying, ‘There is no god but Allah Alone, with no partner or associate; His is the Dominion, to Him be praise, and He has power over all things,’ his sins will be forgiven even if they are like the foam of the sea."
In this wording, tasbih is repeated thirty-three times, then tahmid is repeated the same number of times, then takbir is repeated the same number of times.
Or it may be done by putting the phrases together: “Subhan Allah wa’l-hamdu Lillah wa Allahu akbar (Glory be to Allah, and praise be to Allah, and Allah is most great),” then repeating that thirty-three times.
Ref: Al-Bukhari (843) and Muslim (595) narrated~ Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The poor came to the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and said: The wealthy, by virtue of their wealth, have taken away the highest ranks and eternal bliss. They pray as we pray and they fast as we fast, but they have surplus wealth with which they do Hajj and ‘umrah, and they strive in jihad and give charity. He said: “Shall I not teach you something by means of which you may catch up with those who have gone ahead of you and none of those who come after you will catch up with you, and you will be the best of the people around you, except those who do what you do? Glorify Allah, magnify Him and praise Him thirty-three times following every prayer.”
We disagreed among ourselves. Some of us said: We should glorify Allah thirty-three times, and praise Him thirty-three times, and magnify Him thirty-four times. So I went back to him and asked.
And he said: “Say, ‘Subhan Allah wa’l-hamdu Lillah wa Allahu akbar (Glory be to Allah, and praise be to Allah, and Allah is most great)’ until you have said all of that thirty-three times.”
2) Glorifying Allah thirty-three times, praising Him thirty-three times and magnifying Him thirty-four times, so the total will be one hundred.
Ref: That is because of the report narrated by Muslim (596) ~ Kab ibnUjrah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), who said: “Dhikrs after the prayer, the one who says them or does them after each obligatory prayer will not be disappointed: thirty-three tasbihs, thirty-three tahmids and thirty-four takbirs.”
3)Glorifying Allah, praising Him, magnifying Him and proclaiming His Oneness (by saying La ilaha illa Allah) twenty-five times each, so that the total will be one hundred.
Ref: That is because of the report narrated by an-Nasai (1350) ~ Zayd ibn Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: They were instructed to glorify Allah following every prayer thirty-three times, and praise Him thirty-three times, and magnify Him thirty-four times. A man from among the Ansar had a dream in which someone came to him and it was said to him: Has the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) instructed you to glorify Allah following every prayer thirty-three times, and praise Him thirty-three times, and magnify Him thirty-four times? He said: Yes. He said: Make them twenty-five times, and include tahlil among them. When morning came, he went to the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and told him about that, and he said: “Do them like that.” [This hadith was classed as sahih by al-Albani in Sahih an-Nasai.]
4)Glorifying Allah ten times, praising Him ten times, and magnifying Him ten times.
Ref: That is because of the report narrated by Abu Dawud (5065)~ ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) who said: “There are two deeds that a Muslim does not do regularly but he will enter Paradise. They are easy but those who do them are few; saying Subhan-Allah ten times after every prayer , and saying al-hamdu Lillah ten times, and saying Allahu akbar ten times. That makes one hundred and fifty [in a day] on the tongue and one thousand and five hundred in the Balance.
And saying Allahu akbar thirty-four times when going to bed, and saying al-hamdu Lillah thirty-three times, and Subhan-Allah thirty-three times. That is one hundred on the tongue and one thousand in the Balance.”
And I saw the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) counting them on his fingers. They said: O Messenger of Allah, how is it that they are easy but few people do them? He said: “He – meaning the shaytan – comes to one of you when he is in his bed and makes him fall asleep before he can say them, and he comes to him when he is praying and reminds him of some need before he can say them.”
[Classed as sahih by al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar in Takhrij al- Adhkar (2/267)] [Classed as sahih by al-Albani in al-Kalim at-Tayyib (113).]
These are a number of the sound ways [of reciting dhikr] that have been narrated in detail. The best is to vary between them, saying one sometimes and another at other times.
Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Uthaymin (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “With regard to reciting tasbih following the prayers, four ways have been narrated:
1)Saying “Subhan Allah” ten times, “Al-hamdu Lillah” ten times and “Allahu akbar” ten times.
2)Saying “Subhan Allah wa’l-hamdu Lillah wa Allahu akbar” thirty-three times. Thus the total will be ninety-nine, and one may complete that by saying, “La ilaha ill-Allah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahu’l-mulk wa lahu’l-hamd wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay-in qadir (There is no god but Allah Alone, with no partner or associate, His is the Dominion, to Him be praise, and He has power over all things).”
3)Saying “Subhan Allah” thirty-three times, “Al-hamdu Lillah” thirty-three times and “Allahu akbar” thirty-four times.
4)Saying “Subhan Allah wa’l-hamdu Lillah wa la ilaha illa Allah wa Allahu akbar” twenty-five times. Thus the total will be one hundred times."
Ref: Sharh Manzumah Usul al-Fiqh wa Qawa‘idihi p. 176-177.
May Allah accept it from you and us.

Love is when you can't sleep without having prayed Isha, love is when you can't eat without saying Bismillah first, and love is when you say Alhamdulilah remembering all that Allah has blessed you with. The true love we all long for and strive to find our entire lives can only be found with Him, learn to love and obey Him first and then you'll find someone worth loving for His sake. Cause, wallahi, if you don't love Him (how can you not love Him?) there will always be something missing in your life, there will always be sadness in your life. One of the 99 names of Allah Subhanhu Wa Ta'Ala is 'Al- Wadûd', meaning "The Loving One'. "And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate."

Why is the song called "Bohemian Rhapsody"?
Why does it last exactly 5 minutes and 55 seconds?
What is this song really about?
Why was the Queen movie released on October 31st?
The movie was released on October 31st because the single was first heard on October 31, 1975. The song is titled "Bohemian Rhapsody" because a "Rhapsody" is a free-form musical composition, composed of several seemingly unrelated parts and themes. The word "rhapsody" comes from Greek and means "assembled parts of a song." The word "bohemian" refers to a region in the Czech Republic called Bohemia, the birthplace of Faust, the protagonist of Goethe's work. In Goethe's work, Faust is an elderly, highly intelligent man who knows everything except the mystery of life. Not understanding it, he decides to poison himself.
Just at that moment, church bells ring, and he goes out. Upon his return, he encounters a dog that transforms into a sort of man: it is the devil Mephistopheles, who promises him a full life in exchange for his soul. Faust agrees, becomes young again, and becomes arrogant. He meets Gretchen, and they have a child, but his wife and child die. Faust travels through time and space, feeling powerful, but as he ages again, he feels unhappy once more. Not having broken the pact with the devil, angels contend for his soul. This work is fundamental to understanding "Bohemian Rhapsody."
The song talks about Freddie Mercury himself. Being a rhapsody, there are 7 different parts:
First and second act: A Cappella
Third act: Ballad
Fourth act: Guitar Solo
Fifth act: Opera
Sixth act: Rock
Seventh act: "Coda" or final act
The song tells the story of a poor boy wondering if this life is real or just his distorted imagination. He says that even if he stopped living, the wind would continue to blow without his existence. So he makes a pact with the devil and sells his soul. After making this decision, he rushes to tell his mother, saying: "Mama, I just killed a man, put a gun against his head, pulled the trigger, now he's dead. I threw my life away. If I don't come back tomorrow, continue as if nothing matters..." The man he kills is himself, Freddie Mercury.
If he doesn't honor the pact with the devil, he will die immediately. He bids farewell to his loved ones, and his mother bursts into tears, tears reflected in Brian May's guitar notes. Freddie, frightened, shouts, "Mama, I don't want to die," and the operatic part begins. Freddie finds himself on an astral plane where he sees himself: "I see a little silhouette of a man" and asks, "Scaramouche, will you do the fandango?" Scaramouche is a small skirmish between armies on horseback (the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse of evil fight against the forces of good for Freddie's soul) and continues by saying, "Thunderbolts and lightning, very, very frightening me." This phrase appears in the Bible, specifically in Job 37: "The thunder and lightning frighten me: my heart pounds within my chest." His mother, seeing him so scared by his decision, pleads for his salvation from the pact with Mephistopheles. "He's just a poor boy... Spare him his life from this monstrosity. Easy come, easy go, will you let him go?" Her pleas are heard, and angels descend to fight against the forces of evil. "Bismillah" (an Arabic word meaning "In the name of God") is the first word that appears in the Quran, the holy book of Muslims. So God himself appears and shouts, "We will not let you go, let him go."
Faced with such a confrontation between the forces of good and evil, Freddie fears for his mother's life and says, "Mama mia, mama mia, let me go." From the sky, they shout again that they will not abandon him, and Freddie shouts, "no, no, no, no, no," saying, "Beelzebub (the Lord of the Darkness) has a devil put aside for me, for me, for me." Freddie pays homage to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Sebastian Bach when he sings "Figaro, Magnifico" referring to Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" and Bach's "Magnificat." The operatic part ends, and the rock part begins. The devil, furious and betrayed by Freddie for not honoring the pact, says, "So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye? So you think you can love me and leave me to die?" It is striking how the lord of evil feels powerless before a human being, faced with repentance and love. Having lost the battle, the devil leaves, and we come to the last act or "coda," where Freddie is free, and that feeling comforts him. The gong sounds, closing the song. The gong is an instrument used in China and the Far East to cure people under the influence of evil spirits.
The song lasts 5 minutes and 55 seconds. Freddie liked astrology, and 555 in numerology is associated with death, not physical, but spiritual, the end of something where angels will protect you. The 555 is related to God and the divine, an end that will give rise to a new phase. The song was first heard on the eve of All Saints' Day. A holiday called "Samhain" by the Celts to celebrate the transition and opening to the other world. The Celts believed that the world of the living and the dead were almost united, and on the Day of the Dead, both worlds united, allowing spirits to transit to the other side. Nothing in "Bohemian Rhapsody" is random. Everything is very measured, worked, and has a meaning beyond being just a simple song. It was voted worldwide as the best song of all time. This theme represented a radical change for Queen, as if they had indeed made a pact with the devil; it changed their lives forever and made them immortal.

i have a very strange relationship with rules and "shoulds" in religion.
as im finding my way in islam, i am being very careful about what i internalize and what i do not. i've learned over the years of looking at religion how i avoid getting hurt by it, but by no means is it perfect. i've learned not to accept any human interpretation that does not serve me well. i will use it as a guide, of course, but in the end i disregard what doesn't suit me.
on one hand, i sometimes fear i am "selfish" for this or like i am bending religion to suit me. on the other hand... so what. allah knows my heart, knows my intentions. i trust that if he is there like i hope he is and like i feel he is, he is the perfect judge and the most merciful.
when i was agnostic and a friend told me she was converting to christianity, i told her to view it in the long run as a source of comfort. to toss aside anything that hurts her. i am trying to apply the same logic here.
if right now, due to my trauma and due to my mental illnesses, i can not do certain things, allah knows and understands. he knows i am doing my best. if i can't make salah every day, if the best i can do is duaa, he knows that i am trying to reach out in the best way i can. allah does not burden anyone with more than what they are capable of.
if my memory issues cause me to forget things, to only recall in hindsight i should say "bismillah", he knows it is not out of malice. instead, i praise him whenever i remember. i thank him for my blessings, for my cats, my partner, the beauty of nature. he comes to my mind naturally in moments of joy and beauty. isn't that wonderful? isn't it wonderful to see your creator in all that is good?
i heard someone say once it is more important to focus on doing things right than not doing things wrong, and i think a healthy relationship with religion needs that. no one can perfectly follow the rules and doctrine of any faith. as a muslim, i strive towards these things, but i am human and flawed. rather than freezing over what i can't do, rather than hiding in shame because i couldn't do this or that perfectly, i bring him what i can. i show him my efforts and what i can do, i do as much as i am able. inshallah that is enough.

hello, recently i saw your post about islamic phrases being used commonly on the internet and that you explained some of them, so i was wondering maybe if you might explain Bismillah? (i ask not because i have seen it used often but because i very much like Queen (the band) and wonder how it is used mostly since in the song (Bohemian Rhapsody) it is not very clear)
hello!
Bismillah means “ in the name of god “. It’s often said before doing something like a little prayer that it’ll go alright. It’s also the first word in alot of prayers and the opening of Quranic surats.

So there's two Norwegian songs called "the crow song" (Kråkevisa) among my acquaintances, which are both about a guy shooting a crow, both with several verses padded out by bum-bum-ba-dum chants that vary regionally, and this was of some confusion to people arguing how the song is supposed to go. :P
Start of the shorter one:
Høyt i et tre en kråke, sim sala bim bom ba sela du sela dim, høyt i et tre en kråke satt.
(High in a tree a crow, na na na, high in a tree a crow sat.)
Start of the longer one:
Mannen han gikk seg i vea skog, hei fara, i vea skog Der satt det en kråke i lunden og gol, hei fara, fal du ril du ral du ra.
(The man went to gather wood in the forest, na na na, in the forest, a crow sat in the glade and crowed, na na na.)
A tangent. In English one hears the common magic words "Hocus pocus", possibly derived from Latin hoc est corpus, and "Abracadabra", of unknown origin.
Both of these are also used in Norwegian, the first one often extended to "Hocus pocus filiocus" (filioque), and the above "Sim sala bim" is a third, which some speculate is derived by similar means from a different source: Arabic bismillah.
