Moonlit Dread: The Cursed Voyage of the Miya Siblings"
Summary:The cursed crew sail again for this story in the Run up to halloween. the eerie and macabre tale of "Moonlit Dread," we follow the Miya triplets - Shona, Atsumu, and Osamu - as they are drawn into the chilling lore of the cursed crew, a group of spectral pirates known to haunt the seas under the full moon. While their parents had shared these tales to frighten them, the siblings couldn't help but wonder if there was any truth to the legends.
As Halloween approaches, Shona strolls along the moonlit shore with her boyfriend, Tetsurō Kuroo, and begins to sing a haunting sea shanty. Her song triggers the appearance of the ghostly ship of the cursed crew. To Kuroo's shock, Shona reveals that she is the new captain of this otherworldly crew, and her brothers serve as her loyal first mates. Kuroo, torn between love and fear, makes a fateful decision to join Shona in her spectral adventure. Together, they sail through a world where folklore, horror, and the supernatural merge, becoming legends in their own right. "Moonlit Dread" is a tale that blurs the lines between reality and legend, exploring the enduring power of maritime folklore and the darkness that can consume those who venture too far into the unknown.
In the dark and fog-shrouded legend of the Miya triplets, Shona, Atsumu, and Osamu, the young trio found themselves inexorably drawn into the haunting and macabre folklore of the cursed crew—a group of spectral pirates that were said to prowl the unforgiving seas under the blood-red light of the full moon. These sinister tales had been passed down through generations, a grim reminder of the dangers lurking in the depths of the ocean. While their parents had often shared these eerie stories to frighten them into submission, the three siblings couldn't shake the persistent curiosity that gnawed at them, wondering if there was any kernel of truth buried within these unsettling legends.
As the eve of Halloween loomed closer, Shona took a leisurely stroll along the moonlit shore with her boyfriend, Tetsurō Kuroo. Inexplicably, an eerie melody began to flow from her lips, her voice carrying a mournful, bone-chilling tune, seemingly plucked from the annals of a ghostly chant
youtube
🎶"The king and his men stole the queen from her bed And bound her in her bones The seas be ours and by the powers Where we will, we'll roam🎶
Kuroo, shivers running down his spine, couldn't help but voice his unease, "Sho, kitten, what the heck are you singing?"
Shona, her eyes reflecting an unsettling fascination, shrugged, her voice never wavering as she continued:
🎶 "Yo-ho, all together Hoist the colors high Heave ho, thieves and beggars Never shall we die🎶
Kuroo's concern deepened, his heart pounding with a sense of foreboding. "Kitten, are you trying to summon the Cursed Crew?"
Shona laughed, but it was a laugh tinged with something otherworldly, dismissing her boyfriend's fears. "Love, do you truly believe these are just childhood stories?"
Deep within her psyche, Shona harbored a clandestine knowledge, an awareness that these stories were far more than mere tales. She envisioned herself as the captain now, with her brothers serving as her loyal first mates.
Kuroo decided to let it go, trying to convince himself that Shona was right. Unperturbed, she sang again, her voice carrying a haunting weight:
🎶 "Yo-ho, all together Hoist the colors high Heave ho, thieves and beggars Never shall we die"🎶
In that moment, as the moon hung like a phantom lantern above, a ghostly ship materialized on the distant horizon. A bone-chilling voice echoed through the night:
The Crew:🎶 "Never shall we die" 🎶
Ahoy, captain," the ethereal voices greeted.
Shona, as though she had been anticipating their spectral arrival, welcomed them with eerie familiarity. "Took you sea dogs long enough. Where's me brother?"
From the mist-shrouded ship, Atsumu emerged, followed by Osamu. "Here, Captain."
"O-hayo, sis," Osamu greeted, his voice carrying an eerie resonance.
Kuroo stood frozen in shock as Atsumu handed Shona her captain's hat, a relic of an otherworldly realm. The puzzle pieces were aligning in his mind, painting a horrifying picture.
With pride, Shona declared, "Darling, are you going to stand there catching flies, or come with me?"
Kuroo, torn between disbelief and the fear of losing Shona to the shadows of the cursed crew, made his choice. "Kitten, you're a member of the cursed crew?"
Shona nodded, her eyes gleaming with an otherworldly intensity. "I'm the captain now. Salacia passed it to me officially when she met her end. She was a good captain who taught me everything. People have forgotten about us—the Miya siblings—missing for so long. Our parents even forgot us. We became cold cases. Will you join me, Tetsurō?"
Kuroo, consumed by his love for Shona and the irresistible allure of adventure on the high seas, didn't hesitate any longer. He took a resolute step closer and said, "I'm with you, Captain."
With Kuroo's declaration, a bone-chilling wind seemed to sweep across the beach, sending shivers down their spines. Shona's eyes, now darker and more enigmatic than ever, seemed to pierce the veil between the living and the spectral realm.
"Very well," she intoned in a voice that echoed with centuries of maritime history. "Welcome aboard, Tetsurō. The Cursed Crew sails again tonight."
As Shona donned her captain's hat, the moon above cast an eerie glow upon the spectral ship, revealing its ghastly crew in full detail. These were not the swashbuckling pirates of legend but the cursed souls of mariners who had paid the ultimate price for their misdeeds on the high seas.
The Miya siblings, now reunited, stood together as a formidable and otherworldly triumvirate. Shona, with a commanding presence, gave orders with authority. The ship creaked and groaned as it unfurled its tattered sails, drifting into the inky depths of the ocean.
Kuroo, torn between fear and fascination, watched as the world he had known faded into the distance. The stars above seemed to wink knowingly as they embarked on their dread-filled voyage. With each passing moment, the folklore and horror of the cursed crew became their new reality, and Kuroo was now part of it, for better or worse. The ghostly ship sailed onward, its haunting chorus echoing across the sea:
The crew:🎶 "Yo-ho, all together Hoist the colors high Heave ho, thieves and beggars Never shall we die"🎶
And so, the Miya siblings and their newfound recruit, Tetsurō Kuroo, ventured deeper into the abyss, weaving their own chilling tales of horror and folklore upon the shadowy canvas of the night. It was a journey that would test their courage and reveal secrets darker than any legend had ever told.
As the cursed ship sailed on through the eerie and endless night, Shona, Atsumu, Osamu, and Kuroo became legends in their own right. The tales of their supernatural exploits spread through the folklore of coastal towns and seafaring communities, whispered in fear around campfires and tavern tables.
With each passing year, the memory of the Miya siblings and their cursed crew grew more potent, a grim reminder of the perils of the sea and the darkness that could consume those who dared to venture too far into the unknown. Some claimed to have seen their ghostly ship on the horizon, while others swore they heard their haunting sea shanties carried by the wind.
But for Shona, Atsumu, Osamu, and Kuroo, time seemed to stretch endlessly. They were caught in a timeless purgatory between the realms of the living and the dead, their existence defined by the ceaseless cycle of moonlit nights and shadowy days.
In the heart of this spectral adventure, Kuroo found a strange solace. He had joined this macabre crew out of love for Shona, and in the process, he had become a part of something far greater than himself. He had embraced the unknown, the horror, and the folklore that had once terrified him. With each passing day, his fear transformed into a sense of purpose, and he found a strange sense of belonging among the cursed crew.
And so, the Miya siblings and their spectral ship sailed into the ever-darkening horizon, a haunting reminder that the boundaries between reality and legend are fragile and porous. They had become a living nightmare, a chilling tale that would be told for generations, a testament to the enduring power of horror and folklore that lurks in the deepest recesses of the human imagination.

i have suddenly become obsessed with a theme that HoO established but never proceeded to extrapolate on, which is:
You are Percy Jackson, and you have been swapped with a boy who was allegedly everyone's favorite person, but they have decided to replace him with you. They just met you. You stand next to his best friend and the people he's known his entire life. In his home. In his cloak. In his place. They stopped looking for him.
You are Jason Grace, and you have just found out you have a long lost sister who completely replaced you in her life with this girl you just met. Your lives and personalities are mirrors. She is you, living the life you were robbed of.
You are Annabeth Chase, and you have just become starkly aware that you have been inhabiting the void left behind by your best friend's long lost brother. You and Luke were just replacements for him. Now you have to look him in the eyes when he has nothing and know you took that life from him.
You are Piper McLean, and you have just found out your relationship is fake and built entirely on the memories of Annabeth Chase. You have been given a boyfriend when hers has been taken away. You have no idea how much of it is real or not but regardless you feel like if your relationship isn't exactly in their image that you have failed.
You are Leo Valdez, and you have just learned that you are the echo of your great-grandfather. You are not your own person. You just exist to be a mirror of him. A doppelganger. An actor and stunt double facing all the danger he never had to but wearing his face. To be there for his best friend decades later simply because he couldn't. You are playing a role. A seventh wheel and a pawn for a goddess who carefully sculpted your entire life for her own purposes.
You are Hazel Levesque, and the only reason you are alive is because your brother couldn't save your his sister. You are a consolation prize. An apology. Your existence here is misplaced in every way but you inhabit it anyways.
You are Frank Zhang, and you are a shapeshifter. Inhabiting your own body feels strange and clumsy when you could be literally anything at any time. You are anything and everything and live your life with the simple certainty of knowing exactly how you will die.
#pjo#hoo#heroes of olympus#percy jackson#riordanverse#jason grace#annabeth chase#piper mclean#leo valdez#hazel levesque#frank zhang#meta#analysis#me shaking hoo: what if we actually address the interpersonal dynamics of the characters. please. please. please. please.#frank is the only person on the boat not having an identity crisis tied to another member of the crew somehow and that is FASCINATING#but also WHERE is all the interpersonal literally anything. hello. please. making grabby hands. everybody identity crisis go.#i wanna see the entire argo ii crew stumbling through trying to figure out their places and senses of self!!!!!#particularly in relation to each other!!!!! we get snippets but we rarely ever get the full thing or a resolution!!!#like. HELLO??? Piper acknowledging that her relationship with Jason is artificially sculpted in the image of Annabeth and Percy???#and that her ideals of what Jason and her can be are just that she feels like they need to be like what Percy and Annabeth have????#and thats just DROPPED COMPLETELY????#poor Jason is getting replaced twice. Leo is not his own person.#Hazel at least gets the resolution that Nico does not truly see her as a consolation prize#but Annabeth gets to be hit with the like EIGHT YEAR DELAY of learning the place she inhabits in Thalia's life is the echo of someone else#cause like. yeah she knew Thalia had lost her brother but i dont think it clicked for her until she met Jason that oh. she *replaced* him#Frank at least has some certainty about his identity in one aspect (his curse). everybody else is floundering a bit#except for maybe Percy but its kind of the camps of ''i replaced this person and it weighs on me'' versus ''i have been replaced''

My apologies to the hard working, unfairly treated, writers, directors, cast and crew but I am not exaggerating when I say I am one more cancelation from not being willing to start any more new shows. I can't keep getting attached to these characters and excited to see their stories only for them to canceled after one or two seasons and never be told. Especially when most of them only get eight episodes or less. I wouldn't mind short seasons if I got a complete story but that rarely happens anymore.

Brigitte with her eyes so bright
Looks toward heaven at midnight
On the longest night of year
That’s the one she holds most dear
“Starry friends,” she’s often heard to say
“How I wish that I could make you stay”
She knows though they can’t remain
Time will bring them round again

With the black concrete being removed, N.I.N.H.O being repaired, all of Roier's million photoshop waterframes being put back, Tubbos extensive factories being further expanded, Fit's gym adding a yoga studio, people once again waiting after the gentle thump of a wooden sign to read the words...
It finally kinda feels like we're home.

How to Trigger Spooky Events in Curse of Blackmoor Manor (SPOILERS!!!)
The last time I played CUR, I missed just about all of the spooky events I saw when I played as a kid. I decided to try to track down what triggers any “event” that takes place in Curse of Blackmoor Manor. In a new playthrough, I managed to find all the spooky events. One big difference was unlocking puzzles after the game gave you the clues (and not solving them by memory or intuition). Further details below. I hope this helps anyone in their own playthroughs whether they are playing for themselves or showing the game to a newcomer.
Nancy hears chanting after the first night. No puzzles needed.
Get the nightmare sequence by completing the 13-ghost-hunt on Alan’s computer and looking at all the portraits in the Great Hall)
To hear Linda cry, open the East Hall passageway and complete the parrot door. Walk by her room to hear sobs (I did actually go back and forth between the door and Loulou for each word)
To see meat by Linda’s bedside, I asked Linda about the passageway and eventually got kicked out after asking if I could get her anything. I opened the West Hall passageway (after getting the coat of arms from Nigel). I also saw that Nancy had to see Linda’s hand and call Paliki to follow up. I also had just come back from unlocking the forge. Whether Nancy has to unlock the forge or just be in another location is unknown (kind of like how to get food from Tommy, I order in Nancy’s room then go to the conservatory. When I go directly back to my room, the food is ready).
Nonetheless, I found that the biggest difference in my last gameplay (with few spooky events) and my latest (with a whole collection of events) was accessing the forge ASAP. I think it has to do with the letters in the forge (in one of the journals) having clues for how to solve the rest of the game. In my bad playthrough with few spooky scenes I completely forgot that notebook was there and skipped right past it.
Scratches on Nancy’s door: Go to sleep after getting the Moon key (opening the box in Nancy’s room, typing in zodiac)
Creepy Dark figure: go to sleep after solving for the lightning key.
Nothing happened after the arrow key. Nothing after finding the time/clock key. Nothing after unlocking the mercury wand.
With the water puzzle, open the food before moving any triangles. There is something at the bottom of the well. After opening well, Jane Penvellyn gets a threatening note.
Get the Crazy Frog dream by going to Jane’s room and clicking on the chattering teeth 10 times to get an Easter egg. Read through the Frog book in Nancy’s room. Solve the Frog puzzle with the filled up well and go to sleep.
Mrs. Drake leaves charm directly after one conversation line with Hugh Penvellyn, so always check if there’s something he needs to talk about
Obtain a threatening note after obtaining the 6 keys, opening the pipes (correctly), and going directly to Nancy’s room.
Hope this guide serves as a help. I replayed puzzles and dialogue pieces half a dozen times to figure out as specifically as possible what triggered the different spooky events. Other people may have found different strategies, but I am satisfied that I found all these events on one playthrough (though with loops until I found the right combination of events).
I do have to thank HAFanForever and Arglefumph for their work in displaying these scenes in their videos. They were great reminders of events, and I discovered new ones (the Frog Easter Egg Dream). I also want to thank Arglefumph for his “Nancy Drew: Curse of Blackmoor Manor - Easter Egg” video which showed how to get the crazy frog dream.
